On election eve, a finish where it all began for Romney

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney holds a campaign rally in Manchester, New Hampshire.

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- On a day full of "lasts" for Mitt Romney -- his last campaign event in Florida, and last rallies in Virginia have come and gone -- it was his last rally here in New Hampshire that seemed to move the Republican nominee most, as 12,000 supporters filled an arena to cheer on the man who's presidential run they launched more than sixteen months ago.

Returning to New Hampshire, where Romney began his presidential campaign last June, and where in January Republican voters handed him a resounding victory in the first in the nation primaries, Romney sounded wistful as he thanked Granite State voters for their support, and asked for their help on Election Day.

"You know this is a special moment for Ann and for me because this is where our campaign began," Romney said after nearly three minutes of applause died down enough for him to speak. "And tomorrow your votes and your work right here in New Hampshire will help me become the next president of the United States!"

"It’s been a long journey. It started in New Hampshire a year and a half ago," Ann Romney said as she too addressed the crowd here. "Our hearts are full, and what we have learned by going on the trail is, we’ve seen the America that you all love, that we all love we feel it’s in danger, we feel it’s slipping away from us."

Campaigning with Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, voting and election results.

The Romney's were introduced by a live version of the campaign's theme song, "Born Free," performed by Detroit-native and Romney-backer Kid Rock, who has appeared at rallies for Romney in Michigan and Ohio after lending his fellow Michiganders his support.

The New Hampshire audience heard Romney's closing argument speech, which he debuted late last week. The remarks are a balance of attacks on President Obama, mainly for failing to work across the aisle with Republicans and independents, and hopeful rhetoric meant to inspire those same independents and undecided voters to abandon the president in favor of someone new when they cast their ballots.

“Together we must lead America to a better place," Romney said near the close of his half hour remarks. "We’re one day away from fresh start, one day away from the first day of a new beginning. My conviction is that better days are ahead, and that’s not based on promises and hollow rhetoric but on solid plans and proven results, and on an unshakeable believe in the greatness of the American spirit.”

Too many radical hate spewing GOP candidates. The intangibles of this election are the hate spewing extreme flak-faces who went out there on the trail and represented Mitt Romney. Americans would not want these people like Guillani, Sununu, McCain, Gingrich, et al., as their neighbor, let alone coming and going in our government and the White House. These people spoke on behalf of Romney which makes him as they are. The other thing which will resonate for 4 years is the voter suppression which Romney did not disavow which makes him an accomplice also.

Hate spewing....One word...Revenge. One comment...Romney killed my wife.

We need a leader and compromiser in the white house. That hasn't been Obama.

@teo - where have you been the last 4 years? Under a rock or listening to Fox only I'll assume. The 'Revenge' line is feigned outrage of a losing candidate grasping at anything and everything. Nobody with a working brain cell is falling for it outside the Fox drone crowd. You want compromise in the WH - get rid of McConnell, Boehner, and Cantor as a great start!

In any case, not a good choice of words...

    Romney 2012!

In hindsight - yes, probably could have come up with a different term but certainly not worthy of all this 'outrage'

I was at this rally and heard no hate spewing at all. Only a belief in America.

        Where were you?

The last four years Arizona? Sorry but anyone who has seen the damge Obama has done and still votes for him is really just refusing to admit he isn't what he was cracked up to be. He hasn't delivered, yet people still support him. What happened to expecting our leaders to produce. No sorry, I've seen what he can do and it is indeed time for a change.

"A day full of "lasts" for Mitt Romney". At LAST he'll get what he deserves... a swift kick in the butt OUTTA THE PARK. At LAST it will be shown that phonies and liars need not apply. At LAST the republicans have to fess up to the fact that they made a BIG MISTAKE endorsing this fool for office. I hope it's the LAST time the public has to put up with a total buffoon for a candidate. But I doubt it. The GOP actually counts on getting votes based on chicanery and a clown show.

In my Virginia area, voting took 40 minutes this AM checking 3 polling stations. Folks at work said it was more people in Q at 7 AM than 4 years ago. Our town went 55/45 in 2008 for McCain. One town over the wait was 10 minutes. That town went 60/40 for Obama/McCain in 2008. It's a college town.

Hey America! Ask the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief," where his tax returns from 1996 to 2009 are 'buried?' Ask him how he can hide that type of 'change' in his many Offshore Accounts for so long? Yes America an IRS Audit is in his future! Ask the "Crook and Chief" how much money he stole from his "Delphi Dealings?" The GOP/RNC "Vulture and Chief" is in the process of sued for ripping off the American Tax Payer. Big Time! Ask the "Outsourcer and Chief" about what his "Speculator's" at Bain Capital are now doing in Freeport Illinois? Go to Bainport.com too get the full story of what is happening at Sensata Technologies. Hey Florida! Little "Richie Rich" Ryan and his fellow Tea Beggers. In their "House Of Hoodlum's" already voted to destroy Medicare and Medicaid in the Summer of 2011. Their votes to destroy Medicare and Medicaid as a Government Program is law in the GOP/TeaBegger House. Hey Ohio! Ask the GOP/RNC "Outsourcer and Chief" about his belief that "Let Detroit GO Bankrupt." Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The Party of NO has got to go!!

Bye Bye Mittens! Cannot wait until you fade into the obscurity that you have earned and you deserve. You are a coward and not worthy of the title President of The United States of America! Run along to one of your 6 or so mansions, close the blinds, and remain silent and invisible for we've had quite enough of your lying and flip flopping to win votes for a lifetime!

For those that really expect Obama to win, what will you be saying in the morning if Romney got 270+ electoral votes? Will you blame the result on something, or will you accept the fact that in our country the majority prevails?

And if Romney loses, what will the GOP/TP say? More of the same lies? Note that the majority of voting issues are all in Republican areas, and nearly all reported irregularities have been done by GOP organizations/supporters, so if Romney wins will it really be a majority?

And if Obama wins, will we be treated to another statement from the GOP congress that their main goal is to see the president fail? Call me a idealist, but isn't the purpose of government to govern, not promote a partisan agenda at the expense of the country? Once the election is over, isn't it everyones duty to work together for the betterment of all citizens, not just the favored few?

Sorry - Romney doesn't have any path to 270 electoral votes - even with his ownership of voting machines in Ohio! Even he and the GOP can't cheat and suppress the vote enough to overcome the vote!

And yet you still like Obama?

You expected cooperation when all Obama could say was it's the Republicans fault.

If someone blamed you all the time would you work together nicely or hold a grudge?

And FYI before you buy into the financial mess being Republicans fault....check out who signed the repealing of Glass_Steagle into effect.

How many jobs where lost by NAFTA? Hmm didn't a Democratic President sign that?

The problem with the Democrats is all they know how to do is point fingers and whine. Maybe if they believed in what they fought for they should all grow a pair of balls and stand up to the "bully" Repuplicans.

Stop whining it's all the Republicans fault and accept some responsibility for the Deomocrats actions. Because mister...they sure aint squeeky clean.

And I can't believe how Republicans forgot the lapses in security before the 9/11 attack on AMERICAN SOIL! 3800 Americans and foreigners lost there! And I haven't forgot the 268 Marines killed while the slept in their barracks in Beirut under Reagan's term. I'll will bet that none of the families involved will ever forget either! I am sure none of the 100,000 Iraqi families affected by the war will never forget who was president then either!

Congress will be a lot more giving during an Obama second term: Obamacare will take full affect,Bush tax cuts will expire, and a lot of them are up for re-election in 2014.Plus,since this is his last term Obama will roll right over them to get things done for us !!! I am guessing a lot more executive orders if Repubs want to play games with our lives again.

Of course, it's Obama to win another term. When the terrorist Bin Laden attacked our country on September 11, 2001, we all Americans and the world were shocked. And the elusive terrorist constantly went on sending death threats to us everywhere and every day. Hopelessly, we all could not do anything to stop the evildoer Bin Laden. Even the Republican president Bush who did his best for 8 years-2 presidential terms, was still unable to find Bin Laden. Americans and the world were constantly living on the edge of terrorist attacks. Remember the color alert levels! When Obama got elected in 2008; things began to change for good. Within less than 3 years of Obama administration. The evil terrorist had no place to hide. Obama as our president brought the evil terrorist to justice and ended the international terrorist era, on behalf of the world and all Americans, especially on behalf of almost 3,000 innocent Americans and foreigners who did not deserve to lose their lives in the twin towers. By determination to kill the evildoer Bin Laden, Obama on behalf of Americans, lets all terrorists know that that we Americans never forgive whatever harm and damages they do to our country and our people. At any cost, we will bring them to justice. Obama is now trying hard to bring our economy back on track. We all Americans haven't seen even one American bank failed lately. Of course, it takes time to heal our economy wound and we are definitely getting back on track with another 4 years under Obama administration as former President Bill Clinton mentioned.

Does Romney have any credits like Obama? Absolutely NOT. By contrast, Romney outsourced all American jobs, offshored his filthy rich bank accounts to foreign countries known as tax havens to avoid paying taxes, not to mention Romney's suspicious tax documents which Romney never ever officially releases. Romney put his personal interests above our country and our American folks. Romney cares for no American but himself and his filthy money in the foreign bank accounts. Romney promised American voters the moon as other politicians had done in the past. That's an old trick and everyone knew it. Romney has no credits for doing any good things for our country, but Obama did. Bringing to an end of the international terrorist Bin Laden era and step by step improving our economy are examples. If Obama has another term we will surely see another big change for good. Also, under Obama administration, our American Mars Rover is gloriously conquering the planet Mars and American Olympic team in London 2012 Games victoriously won the most ever medal counts over all, including gold medals by defeating China and Russia. It's for our country and for us all. It's our American pride. It's Obama to win another term.

                                  Give me a break.

Our President said that he would bring the nation together. That did not work.

Our President said that he could work with the opposition party by reaching across the isle. That did not work.

Our President said that his administration would be free from lobbyists. That did not work.

Our President said that his administration would be the most transparent ever. That did not work.

Our President said that he would fix the economy within three years. That did not work.

Our President said that his health care bill would lower health care costs. That did not work.

Our President said that he would not raise taxes on 95% of Americans in any way. That did not work.

Our President said that his stimulus spending bill would solve our employment problem. That did not work.

Our President said that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. That did not work.

Our President has provided an economic "plan" for the next 4 years that is mathematically impossible. That cannot work.

I see a pattern here. Our President said that if he could not fix the economy within three year that he did not deserve a second term.

Of course, Scamman Farm wouldn't exist right now if Romney were president, because it needed a $100K grant from the federal farm protection grant program and the state of NH's land trust program to get it through the recession. Mitt would have let it go bankrupt like the auto industry.

The irony and ignorance of Romney to hold his rally there is unbelievable.

I saw a young man drive up as I was going to vote, today.
He waited for a much older woman to drive up and get out
of her car, before he got out of his car and followed her
in, to vote. She showed him how to vote and stood over
him as he marked his ballot, then she ushered him to the
voting machine and directed him to feed his ballot into
                                            the vote counter.

At first, I wondered if he was Old enough to vote, then I
wondered if he was getting Paid to vote. Now, I'm
wondering just how much Streisand, Clooney, Coombs,
Jordan and Winfrey, et al, are willing to Pay to win this
election; and how far they are willing to Go to win this
election? I hear Obama's team is Very confident of the
outcome, and I'm beginning to understand why.

I read the President's economic plan for the next four years. The Plan is devoid of detail to include budget. It appears to be primarily a wish list. It seems that the President wants the federal government to spend a lot of money that it does not have to train math and science teacher's to teach vocational classes at the JC level for jobs that do not really exist in this country. Foreign manufacturers are paying their workers roughly a tenth of the minimum that our workers require and that is why they can always beat domestic manufactures on price. Neither candidate seems to have a solution for this problem. It is our huge trade deficit that is degrading efforts to revive the economy by injecting more money.

In many states, state colleges and universities are having to raise tuition to make ends meet because of tighter state budgets. The President wants to withdrew federal funding from these schools so that they either have to raise tuition even more or close down facilities. The President thinks that this effort will help improve the quality of education in America.

The President is expecting to pass his increased taxes on the "Rich". He has been trying to do that for the past four years but he somehow thinks the can prevail in the next 4 years. This tax will at best take 100 billion dollars per year from the private sector and put it into the public sector. The President promised that the 2012 federal deficit would not exceed 229.27 billion dollars yet the actual deficit exceeded 1.1 trillion dollars so his efforts to date to cut the deficit have been less than successful. He is proposing more spending and unspecified cuts and which has been provided it is impossible that any actually deficit reduction will take place. So I am looking at a nominal annual deficit of 1 trillion dollars assuming the increased taxes on the "rich" passes.

At the heart of the President's plan is the idea of bringing the troops home in 2014 and with the savings use half of it to start paying down our debt and use the other half for infrastructure improvements. To start paying down the debt the federal government has to run a surplus. To run a surplus with half of the piece dividend, the federal government will have to realize a savings of more than 2 trillion dollars per year from bringing the troops home. That amount is more than twice a s much as we are paying for defense including all overseas operations. The President's plan is mathematically impossible. Mathematically impossible plans are at the least less than viable. The President's plan is an example of fantasy economics.

My biggest concern is all the debt that our federal government has been accumulating. With a debt or more than 16 trillion dollars and huge deficits predicted for at least another decade, I estimate that the money that the federal government is borrowing today will end up costing the tax payers more than 10 times the amount borrowed to repay over the next 180 years. Paying 10 times the going rate for goods and services is not good management. The President has yet to present a detailed plan for repaying the debt. The tax payers have a right to know how much all of this federal borrowing to going to end up costing them.

If (God forbid) he gets elected, kicking the can down the road is exactly what he will do. It's what Republicans have been doing since Ike was President. If you elect Mitt, your grandchildren will pay the bill.

If you cared as much about America as the President does, you'd probably get a little misty sometimes too.
