Romney adds Election Day stops in Ohio, Pennsylvania

Updated 4:08 p.m. ET - STERLING, VA -- Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign announced Monday afternoon that the candidate would add two campaign stops on Election Day in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

A campaign official said Romney would make stops in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, part of what the GOP nominee's campaign called an effort to "keep working until the polls close."

Pollsters divide the state of Ohio into five regions: coal country, northeastern Ohio, the auto belt, the Columbus area and the Cincinnati region. Currently, Obama is doing well in the north and has also made inroads in coal country – but the real area to watch is the auto belt where Romney will return to campaign Tuesday. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.

Romney campaign advisers have eyed Pennsylvania in recent weeks as a backstop against losing other battleground states, especially as Obama has managed to maintain a mostly consistent if slight advantage over Romney in Ohio. Pennsylvania lacks a robust early voting effort and the vast majority of ballots are cast on election day. Romney's campaign and outside groups supporting it have poured money into television advertising there in recent weeks.

Pittsburgh has advantage of bleeding over into the Ohio media markets, too.

In Cleveland, Romney will visit his campaign's victory office, according to a Republican operative familiar with the campaign's plans.

Romney will travel to the two Midwestern battlegrounds after voting in Belmont, Massachusetts on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, Romney barnstormed across four swing states, with rallies in Florida, Virginia, Ohio and New Hampshire. The New Hampshire midnight rally in in Manchester had been billed as the campaign's finale.

Jen Psaki, the traveling campaign spokeswoman for President Barack Obama, suggested the stop was a sign of weakness.

"I will say it's no surprise that Mitt Romney is headed to Ohio, or reportedly headed to Ohio tomorrow," she told reporters in a gaggle aboard Air Force One. "Without that state it's a rocky road to victory -- an insurmountable road I would say."

Romney campaign advisers say the candidate himself decided on Monday to add the last minute stops, preferring to motivate volunteers and supporters by showing them that he was working just as hard as they are in the final hours, to sitting at home and waiting for results to come in.

It's funny how all these libtards here say Romney must be desperate to campaign to the last minute. Considering that it's the day before the election, I think he knows that Ohio is about as in his camp as it's going to be and he's taking advantage of Pennsylvania opening up in order to copper his bets.

That's not desperation, it's hard work, smart politics and prudence!

You're all so cocky and think ol' Barrack has this thing sewn up, when it really isn't. Furthermore, with his numbers trending down like they have, Obama is actually in quite a bit of trouble. Remember, this is the man who couldn't run on his record even if he wanted to.

Lastly, looking at the nastiness you liberals are representin' here, I'd say you have some desperation issues of your own going on.

Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock became the latest Republican to stir up controversy – and potential trouble for the Romney campaign – when he said during a debate that "even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen."

I can already hear the champagne corks a poppin at Jimmy Carter's House........with lots of Thank You Baracks all around

                Why Romney Will Win

                12:20 PM, Nov 5, 2012 • By FRED BARNES

Mitt Romney will win. The tie in the polls goes to the challenger. Here's why:

Enthusiasm. It matters enormously, and it's disproportionately on the Republican side, in good measure because of an intense desire to defeat President Obama. True, enthusiasm doesn't guarantee an edge in turnout, but it's certainly a key indicator. "In these final days, turnout is driven by intensity," says Republican pollster Ed Goeas. The nearly half the electorate that strongly disapproves of Obama's performance in office "will need little else other than the opportunity to vote against President Obama to motivate them to go to their polling place." Goeas conducts the bipartisan Battleground Poll along with Democrat Celinda Lake.

In 2008, self-identified Democrats led Republicans in turnout by seven percentage points. Gallup's projection is that Republicans will have a 49-46 percent edge this year. "The political environment and the composition of the likely electorate strongly favor Governor Romney," Goeas says. The Battleground Poll's "vote election model" projects Romney with 51 percent.

Ground game. The Obama get-out-the-vote drive (GOTV) is not quite the powerful juggernaut it was in 2008 and the Republican effort is far better than four years ago. The Republican National Committee isn't alone this time. Americans for Prosperity and a coalition of a dozen conservative groups—from the National Rifle Association to the Republican Jewish Coalition—have put together a massive GOTV effort focused on swing voters in key states. They've averaged 1.8 million phone calls per day in recent days.

Early voting numbers are further evidence of ground game parity. Democrats have a slight edge, but their numbers are down significantly from 2008. Far more Republicans have voted early this year than in 2008.

Undecideds. Undecided voters are thought to vote disproportionately for the challenger over a sitting president. In truth, there's no empirical evidence for this widely acknowledged tendency. But to the extent it exists, it helps Romney. Goeas, for one, figures most still undecided voters simply won't vote.

Indicators. Many point to a Romney win. He does well among "high-propensity-voting" blocs such as, in the Battleground Poll, seniors (54 percent), married voters (56 percent), weekly church attendees (59 percent), white evangelicals (79 percent), and gun owner householders (60 percent). He also leads among key demographic groups such as suburban voters (54 percent), Catholics (53 percent), and middle class voters (52 percent).

Obama has large leads among groups such as Hispanics with a lower propensity to vote. "If the president's campaign is not able to replicate his 2008 electorate (which is looking increasingly unlikely), the president loses," Goeas says.

Issues. The most important ones favor Romney: the economy, the deficit, and the debt. Independents, the demographic group most sensitive to these issues, went for Obama by eight percentage points in 2008. Now they're tilting to Romney by roughly the same percentage.

Conclusion: Romney will be elected the 45th president of the United States.

For anybody who wants to know who the President is, read his budget and say how could he get zero votes. If his own party would not vote for his plans why should you vote for him?

blah blah blah, see you Wednesday morning and you can spend an hour typing senseless facts and figures that mean nothing to anyone but the media. Want true election feel and polls look at local papers and local news stories.

I did not see the presidents lead among black voters, Latinos, women, white women esp. The polls admittedly give Romney an edge among middle age white men, esp. southern men who are gun owners, and evangelical baptist, who like barefoot and pregnant women. See all those groups you listed, they seem to overlap in sequential order.

                See ya Wednesday my friend!

Hell republicans don't even care about Romney, watch Norquist admit all they need is a president with "enough working digits" to sign whatever the conservative Congress puts in front of him.

It always amazes me how dumb some of the electorate is, and these two morons are no exception. $5T further in national debt with masive unemployment, and they look up to this incompetent president Barry O as the country's savior - only idiots like Feisty and Alaska are dumb enough to behave this way.

                  Tom

so wait, how does $5 Trillion more in tax cuts, $2 Trillion more in military spending help that national debt you mention? Where exactly does that money come from? You and Me my friend, there is physically no other place to increase revenue to pay down the debt. As far as unemployment, where did that come from, I know the right hates to hear it but where? Yep, George W was bleeding 800,000 jobs per MONTH in his last year in office. Obama has added 5.5 Million, in the last month alone he has added more jobs than was added in 8 years under George W.

As far as Romney creating jobs, he himself has said (in his 47% video) if he is elected he will not have to do anything and 12 million jobs will be created, which coincidentally Moody's wrote a report that read in the next 4 years, huh, 12 million new jobs would be created in the next 4 years based on the current upward trend of the economy.... Curiously funny huh???

Rachel Maddow needs to stop jabbering and start interviewing. As much as I agree with her, she's become a major bloviant. And those clothes she wears, yeesh. As if she doesn't bore you to death with her non-stop prattle on obtuse points, she does the same thing with her wardrobe. Ed Schultz may be the 'voice of the working person' for MSNBC, but he has the intelligence not to wear the same blue collar garb every night.

A couple of years ago Rachel criticized the Democrats because they weren't doing something they do best, although I can't remember what that was, it's a valid criticism for her now. Her best talent is interviewing (Rand Paul, anyone?). She's abandoned her strength in favor of trying to demonstrate she's the smartest girl in the class. Yawn. While I watch the rest of MSNBC as much as I can, Rachel now inspires me to tune in Current TV to see what Jennifer Granholm is having a discussion about.

                  Have a good day.

No, not kidding. She is one of the most respected journalists in this country. I know you don't approve of her. Most on the right don't. She calls you guys out on too many issues so it is understandable that most of you would try to belittle her in any way. You know she is frighteningly intelligent and she must be demonized by the right. It's hard for you guys to respect her because you and your party know that in any discussion on any subject she will kick you into next Tuesday.

                            Alaska,

                            From her website:

“The Rachel Maddow Show” features Maddow’s take on the biggest stories of the day, political and otherwise,

That is what a commentator does, they give their take on a story, they do not report the story. Maybe you should read up on journalism and understand what that means.

                                Romney loves money.

Romney loves to bank his money overseas to avoid paying taxes so he can earn more money.

Romney loves other people who have lots and lots of money.

Romney insulted 40% of this country because unlike him they do not have oodles and oodles of money and a four-car garage with an elevator. He is so ignorant he doesn't understand that the 47% who "depend" on government are people who didn't need to pay pay taxes because they were in the armed forces, seniors, disabled, and/or working but not earning enough to pay.

Romney doesn't support equal pay for women and has dodged the question about the Lily Ledbetter act some 40+ times.

Romney doesn't support a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

Romney has lied and flip-flopped regarding EVERY MAJOR POLICY since he started campaigning.

Romney has hidden his tax records from before 2009 because from 1996 - 2009 he PAID NO TAXES. https://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/04/1155381/-Breaking-Romney-Paid-Zero-Taxes-From-1996-To-2009

Romney is facing ethics complaints from the UAW for a conflict of interest that likely earned him millions of dollars -- which we can't pinpoint because he refuses to share his tax returns from the relevant year! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/01/mitt-romney-ethics-complaint-uaw-auto-bailout_n_2056941.html?utm_hp_ref=business

Romney wanted to privatize FEMA, something he denies now. http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/01/romney-on-fema-then-and-now/

From the Massachusetts state treasurer: When Romney was gov., he didn't get along with Democrats in the state and wasn't bipartisan. He had been a CEO and was used to telling people what to do. He had his own elevator when he was governor and didn't allow anyone else to use it; he was afraid he'd be stuck with the legislators, he didn't make an effort to know their names or to get to know them, and he got the Lt. Governor's name wrong once.

The idiot did a photo op in which he asked people to bring canned food donations for the Red Cross. 1) The Red Cross DOESN'T COLLECT FOOD. They need money and blood donations. Period. 2) People who didn't bring food weren't allowed in for the photo op. 3) Romney's people were afraid he'd look incapable of drumming up donation support so they went to Walmart and spent $5,000 on food and diapers to stage as donation props. 4) When people showed up without donations and wanted to greet Romney, they were handed already-paid-for props to pretend they had donated them... all to look good for the photo op. Pure stupidity. Pure dishonesty.

Romney claims to love teachers. Well, the teachers of Massachusetts gave him an "F" for his lack of support for teachers when he was gov.

Another Romney lie: He keeps telling the American people that 50% of the energy companies that the Obama administration invested in went bankrupt. NOT SO. Only 8% of those companies declared bankruptcy, but at least Obama is committed to putting the money into technology and research. He can't guarantee the success of those companies.... but his success rate is better than Romney's. Romney, on the other hand....... 22% of the Bain Capital investments went bankrupt and closed!

Experts have done the math and have calculated the net result of Romney's proposed tax cuts to equal $5 TRILLION. He keeps denying this is the number, but IT IS. And that money has to be made up somewhere, and his numbers just don't add up. The brunt of this burden WILL FALL ON THE MIDDLE CLASS. Romney CLAIMS his strategies will spur economic growth EVEN THOUGH past efforts to grow the economy his way have totally failed.

Romney lied when he said he didn't get a tax break for moving Sensata overseas. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/15/1144723/-Mitt-Romney-profits-as-Bain-sends-American-jobs-to-China . He also misled Americans when he said his and President Obama's involvements in China were on par. They aren't. Romney's investment in Sensata is $8 MILLION. Obama's investment in Sensata is $11 (eleven dollars!!!), which he can't collect from his senatorial retirement fund for 11 years).

Romney was only successful as a businessman because his RICH FATHER got him started in business. He didn't do this on his own or from the ground up. And he made a lot of money because he SHIPPED JOBS OVERSEAS.
Even Romney's comments about the "binders of women" is a lie; HE didn't SEEK OUT female candidates. http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/18/politics/campaign-women/index.html.

The man wouldn't know the truth if it smacked him between the eyes! So much for his religious "values."

But Obama campaigned while 4 Americans were massacred in Libya. I see nothing wrong with working and making money. I do see something wrong when a POTUS turns a deaf ear to 4 Americans being murdered. Get a job loser. BTW, how did Hussein get so rich?

In real estate CHEATS, CROOKS AND PHONIES refuse to disclose. Romney’s 2009 tax report shows how much he profited ($15-Mill or $115-Mill?) through wife Ann’s investment in the Singer syndicate, once in control of Delphi, which eliminated every single UAW job, 25,000, and moved auto-parts production to Mexico and China. Mr Governor, DISCLOSE, DISCLOSE, DISCLOSE your zealously guarded 2009 report and let us citizens judge.
