Hecklers interrupt Obama's Cincinnati rally

Larry Downing / Reuters

President Obama is interrupted by an anti-abortion protester as he speaks at a campaign event at Fifth Third Arena at the University of Cincinnati, Nov. 4.

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- As President Obama tried to maximize the precious few stops he has left in crucial Ohio, his rally here Sunday night was full of musical interludes, but not without a few interruptions.

Taking the stage at the University of Cincinnati shortly after R+B superstar Stevie Wonder warmed up the crowd, the president was sidetracked by a lone protestor up in the rafters, who held a sign and yelled, his words loud but hard to make out.

“I guess y’all are still fired up,” Obama said as the crowd began a counter-chant of “four more years!” attempting to drown the heckler out.

At first the president tried to soldier through and deliver his remarks over the protestor, but he finally gave in as the crowd cheered on state troopers who pried the man away from the balcony bars he had grabbed onto.

Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP

President Barack Obama reaches over to greet supporters before speaking at in Cincinnati.

But it wasn’t over yet – there was still one more protestor who had to be removed from the arena.

“It’s okay folks. Everybody, it’s okay. We’re good,” Obama said before once again giving up until the cheering and shouting subsided.

Despite the dissonance at the beginning of his remarks, the rest of the president’s event was much more harmonious, given that Wonder played the president offstage to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” – an Obama campaign favorite.

As the band struck up the first recognizable chords of the song, most of the 13,500 audience members started to dance and clap along.

Not even the president could resist – he was seen shuffling back and forth, modestly clapping to the beat.

After his event in Cincinnati, the president headed to Aurora, Colorado, where he would be joined by singer/songwriter Dave Matthews.

HOW ROMNEY MANAGED TO PAY NO FED TAXES FOR 12+ YEARS - LEGALLY . . .

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/04/1155381/-Breaking-Romney-Paid-Zero-Taxes-From-1996-To-2009."

.

Using a tax shelter called a CRUT (charitable remainder unitrust) that was held by the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Mitt Romney was able to pay zero taxes (legally) every single year from 1996 to 2009. Why did he stop in 2009? Because he would make public his 2010 tax return, that is why. This tax loophole was killed by Congress in 1997. However those including Romney that were already using it were allowed to continue it. The way it works, is that Romney makes a "charitable" contribution to the Church of Latter Day Saints and it goes into a trust. Since the trust is held by the church, the money is tax deferred. Any capital gains, are non taxed because of the charities status. Like an annuity, the donor gets a charitable tax deduction and an stream of cash payments. When Romney dies, the church accepts full ownership..

Bloomsberg's attorneys estimate as the Romneys have received these payments, the money that will potentially be left for charity has declined from at least $750,000 in 2001 to $421,203 at the end of 2011.....Romney has refused to answer any thing on this topic. His campaign puts out that it was all legal....Legal perhaps. Ethical for the president of the United States? Well, only if you want a crook running the country.... Imagine! Legally stealing from your church!."

Can'tAfford: You litany from Fox, Limbaugh, Hannity, and the rest of the scumabags you listen to, has been trotted out for months now, and like Benghazi (which was going to be Obama's demise) has no traction anymore.

Most of the things you say are, of course, outright lies or distortions spewed by the right wing nuts like you, who cannot stomach the fact that in spite of the eternal NO of the GOP, this President has taken the country forward, and that is something that the GOP/TP lunatics can't forgive.

I hope you have a lot of handkerchiefs by Wednesday, you'll need them!

Jo Ann, and of course Sandy and its aftermath are Obama's fault!

Good try, dummy. Would you prefer to be counted in the 47% that Mitt said was not able to take responsibility for their lives? And who feel "entitled" to food, medicine, education, and who are "victims"?

If he becomes president, they will be victims.

"MITT ROMNEY'S CAMPAIGN INSULTS VOTERS"

JUST A SMALL SAMPLE HERE - YOU SHOULD READ THE WHOLE THING:

"

". . . And then there has been his chronic, baldly dishonest defense of mathematically impossible budget proposals. He promised to cut income tax rates without exploding the deficit or tilting the tax code toward the rich — but he refused to say how he could bring that off. When challenged, he cited “studies” that he maintained proved him right. But the studies were a mix of rhetoric, unrealistic growth projections and more serious economics that actually proved him wrong.

This last is important — maybe the crux of the next four years. History has shown that it’s a lot easier to cut taxes than to reduce spending. Republican presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush promised to do both, managed to do only the first and (with plenty of help from Congress) greatly increased the national debt.

Now Mr. Romney promises to reduce income tax rates by one-fifth — for the rich, that means from 35 percent to 28 percent — and to raise defense spending while balancing the budget. To do so, he would reduce other spending — unspecified — and take away deductions — unspecified. One of the studies he cited, by Harvard economist Martin Feldstein, said Mr. Romney could make the tax math work by depriving every household earning $100,000 or more of all of its charitable deductions, mortgage-interest deductions and deductions for state and local income taxes. . . ."

HOW ROMNEY MANAGED TO PAY NO FED TAXES FOR 12+ YEARS - LEGALLY . .

First of all this has been public for over 5 days and it has no traction. It’s a non-issue.

I know, I know, it’s an issue to you Libbies because you look at taxes as a punishment and reward system for redistribution of wealth. This is where you are wrong.

Taxes are simply used to fund our governments function. No more, no less.

As you stated Romney was able to pay zero taxes on his CRUT.

LEGALLY!!!!!!!!!

So, why all the whining? If it’s legal, it’s not his fault for using it. If anything we should be happy he gets to keep more of his own money rather than keep feeding the bottomless pit known as our government.

Actually, you Liberals should be angry for allowing this. You’re the one’s constantly advocating your sacrosanct “progressive” tax system. You claim it’s the only “fair” tax system yet we’ve been using it for a 100 years and we still can’t get it right.

Why?

Once again, because you look at it as a social issue rather than a fiscal issue.

Our tax code is over 72,000 pages long and it changes DAILY. There are over 1,100 different forms. Between 1986 and 2005 Congress passed over 14,400 amendments to the tax code, this equates to almost 3 changes every day for 19 straight years. There have been about 4,430 tax code changes in the last 10 years. There were approximately 580 changes in 2010 alone.

We have manipulated the tax brackets from 1% for the poor to as high as 94% in the upper brackets. Historically despite all these manipulations our tax revenue, as a percentage of GDP, has been relatively constant at approximately 18%.

Our tax code has become so convoluted that in the past two years the IRS has had over 110 million inquiries each year regarding our massive tax code, over 25% of the questions couldn't be answered by the agents. The Government Accountability Office publicly released a study showing that, as of the end of fiscal year 2010, roughly $330 billion in federal taxes had never been paid.

No government agency should instill the fear in the American people that the IRS does. Remember, the government works for us, not vice versa.

There are hundreds of LEGAL tax deductions, withholds, transfers and other manipulations. Lobbyists, special interest groups and other influential people determine our tax code. How many of you were watching as the 580 amendments were added to the tax code in 2010?

Why do you Libbies persist in embracing this criminal theft of our hard earned money?

Why do you Liberals believe that raising taxes on cigarettes, energy consumption, carbon production and other bogeymen will affect changes to decrease those activities but you don’t believe the same will happen when personal and corporate taxes are increased on investment, savings or other growth behaviors?

Does Mitt Romneys tax avoidance, NOT EVASION, bother me? Not at all. It’s legal. It’s none of my or your business what he does with his own money, just like it’s none of my business what you do with your money.

Taxes are not a moral or ethical issue, they’re a legal or illegal issue. Pay what is legally due and go about your business. If someone else legally uses the dysfunctional mess called our tax code the only person you can blame is yourself. You allow this monstrosity.

It’s time to get rid on this absolute failure of taxation.

It’s time for either a Constitutionally mandated Flat Tax or Fair Tax. Constitutionally mandate it so that only 2/3rds majority and state ratification can change it. That way every American will know exactly what the tax rate is.

Double taxation in any form is wrong.

We are victims of “taxation without representation”. When the IRS can’t answer 25% of the questions about taxes, something is horribly wrong with our tax system.

Greed isn’t someone wanting to keep more of what they earn, its people demanding a greater share of money that someone else has earned.

I'll vote for anyone who will try to improve my standard of living ...without destroying someone else’s!

ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 FOR REAL AMERICANS©

No, not trying to politicize. I think its sad that Obama complains about 1 percenters and yet he loves to hang out with them. Obama was the person who politicized Hurricane Sandy. I just don't understand how that proves in any way that he "doesn't work well with the other side".

What do you have to say about Paul Ryan's soup kitchen debacle? Or about Romney thanking people "sincerely" for the donations he gave them to hand to him? And you and your ilk criticize Obama for showing up after a natural disaster (like a President should, as long as it's not interfering with rescue/relief efforts), sneering and snickering about how it was just a "photo op" for him. Your behavior is despicable, low class, and embarrassing.

Our President said that he would bring the nation together. That did not work.

Umm, thats because Republicans right off the start said they would make him a 1 term President.

Our President said that he could work with the opposition party by reaching across the isle. That did not work.

He tried to reach accross the tables for two years. What did he get for his troubles? Republicans saying no to every thing he proposed, even when it was in the Republicans favor.

Our President said that his administration would be free from lobbyists. That did not work.

Hard to be free from something the Republicans won't let go of.

Our President said that his administration would be the most transparent ever. That did not work.

Compared to the Bush Administration, Obama was an open book. Again, Republicans trying to make something out of nothing.

Our President said that he would fix the economy within three years. That did not work.

Even President Clinton said that with the Republicans blocking everything there is no way any President could have done more the Obama in one term. I have to congratulate President Obama for getting as much as he did done.

Our President said that his health care bill would lower health care costs. That did not work.

Gotta stop listening to the Rush and Fox news bull. Health care costs have gone down quite a bit.

Our President said that he would not raise taxes on 95% of Americans in any way. That did not work.

Again, Rush Fox juice, gotta get off that diet. He lowered taxes for the 95% several times. It's the rest that need to pay more. At least their fair share.

Our President said that his stimulus spending bill would solve our employment problem. That did not work.

Guess you havent been keeping up with the news. That happens when your on a diet of Fox and Rush. During the 8 years of Bush, jobs where going away. Almost the whole time Obama was in office, the jobs have been in the positive. Do the math, not the Romney math but real math.

Our President said that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. That did not work.

You try and cut the deficit in half when your trying to bring the country out of the worst resession in history and do it in 4 years. Don't be stupid.

I see a pattern here. Our President said that if he could not fix the economy within three year that he did not deserve a second term....I agree, in fact he has more than proven he didn't deserve the first one!!!

The pattern I see is you listening to Rush and Fox 24/7. Try listening to all the news and not just the Right wing wackos. This President has accomplished more in 4 years then Both Bushes in 12 years. Again, you have to learn how to read and do math. Things that come from an education that Romney is trying to cut.

@emmygee,

Romney said that the rich people will be fine no matter who is in office. Obama himself knows that raising taxes on the rich will do nothing to the deficit. He just wants the low to middle class to think it matters in order to get their votes.

What soup kitchen debacle? The reporters witnessed that Ryan was washing dirty dishes. Romney receiving donations that he gave to them? What? I think you are too busy believing the people at MSNBC. Criticizing Obama for his "photo op"? You mean the way Bush was criticized for his "photo op"? I think your behavior is despicable and embarrassing.

He spent months with Boehner trying to get them to meet in the middle. The only thing he asked for after giving up almost everything is for the Rich to pay more. Boehner said no and walked out. KJNC,

As far as the CRUT, I don't think anybody should be surprised. Now we just have some bits of signed material to verify it. Legal? Sure, but is it really morally right? It's not a question you will see asked publically, but it is one that ought to be asked at least privately by anyone considering backing Mr. Romney.

The bottom line is there are plenty of interesting things about the Mormon Church which is a very successful religious corporation. As a bishop in the church there is plenty of opportunity to get all sorts of perks and benefits. There is more dirt here than in the Catholic church with its pedophile scandals. A lot of people know this but nobody is attacking it because it would look "distateful" going after a religion. Many aspects of the church are operated like a big corporation and church executives make out just like corporate executives do. I'm not trying to suggest that they are fundamentally corrupt because the Mormon Church does spend millions on charitable acts. But they clearly take care of those who take care of the church. When you can make big contribution and get tax breaks in the process plus get back all kinds of benefits which are not entirely spiritual in nature, what you have is a legal scam.

Clearly the Mormon church has a great deal of skill at taking advantage of the monetary benefits of being a church. If you've ever been to Salt Lake and seen the churches corporate headquarters, it's pretty obvious there is more going on than God's work. The Mormon church has had their run ins with the government over the old poligamy thing and in a lot of ways, that history serves to protect them. There is enough stuff going on that they ought to be investigated. Maybe it is all legal, but without a doubt they take advantage of their status as a religion for monetary gain. The church and it's holdings are currently worth at least $60 billion by some estimates and this is a significant drop from before the recession which may have been closing in at around $100 billion. We do know that they take in far more than they spend on "church work" expenses and the do a lot of investing with their "reserves".

The far right evangelicals have some major problems with the Mormon Church and it isn't all about religious differences either. A lot of their concerns may very well be legitimate. But Democrats made the concious decision to stay away from the religion card. Quite wisely I believe because it would not be received very well by the public if they were attacking a church. But there is a ton of stuff to find if you dig a little bit and Mitt Romney is right in the middle of it. Magic underwear is just the tip of the iceberg. I doubt that they are technically doing anything illegal because they are highly lawyered up with some top notch legal folks. But regardless of whether or not everything they do is legal, the real questions are about the morality of it all. But you aren't about to see anybody on the left questioning the morality of a church or its leadership.

The questions that should be being asked is when a church becomes more of a corporation than a church, should it be enjoying tax exempt status?

KJNC what you're missing is that unemployment at around 8%.Fewer people are paying income tax, have less disposable income (less sales tax collected). All this means LESS $$ for the government coffers.

When unemployment falls into the 4-5% range, which WILL happen with our new President Mitt Romney, the government gets more $$.

I hope this clears things up for you, but you'll still go out and vote for your "messiah" for hope and change for another 4 yrs of the same old conically high unemployment and a deeply divided nation as this once great nation falls farther into the abyss of a 3rd world nation.

"Temerity" is defined as: (reckless boldness; rashness.)

Perhaps you believe our President should be RECKLESSly bold. But, it is more likely you are ignorant (of the definition of "temerity").

You might be praised for attempting to use an expanded vocabulary. This is, after all, rare among the GOPeaParty. Still, it would be best if you knew the meaning of words before you use them.

Likewise, it would be best if you understood the folly of supporting Mitt Romney. Neither is likely as ignorance flourishes in the absence of effort.

Wow! A male anti-abortion heckler blatting off at the mouth during a speech by our president. President Obama is working to protect womens rights, so it's not surprising that the troglodyte set would make an appearance.

When will these guys learn? Their sperm HAVE NO rights under the law, a woman's body does. It is a woman's body and it is women's rights that would be in jeopardy if left to the discretion of the GOP finatics.

He is just asking the very wealthy to pair their fair share like the rest of us do. They are getting a tax break bigger than any of us (supposedly in exchange for supplying us more jobs in exchange) problem appears that they just take their tax break $$ and send it to the camen islands, not reinvested in USA. You referred to our Government as a "bottomless pit using your money for whatever it wants". Do you call infrastructure, military, global ecology, etc... wasteful. Suggesting you leave USA to a different country where you need not pay any taxes and keep your money to spend any way you want. Good luck in that. What do you who say O is spending all the money on think he is spending it? Personal palaces, car, personal wages ? what? what?. Explain

Obama has proposed several budgets the the legislative branch has turnded down.

Brenda, Your statement would have had more crediblity had you mentioned that his budget proposals were turned down not only by Republicans, but also by most, if not all legislative members of HIS OWN PARTY.

Their sperm HAVE NO rights under the law, a woman's body does. It is a woman's body and it is women's rights that would be in jeopardy if left to the discretion of the GOP finatics.

D.Appel, You claim is false. Mitt Romney has already stated that he believes, as many in the republican party do, that abortion is acceptable in some extreme cases such as rape, incest or when the life of the mother is at stake. This is somewhat different than what democrats believe as they look at abortion as a form of "birth control."

As far as the heckler goes, he should be arrested. He went looking for trouble...he got it. There are better ways to show your dislike for a candidate than creating a disturbance.

Our President said that he would bring the nation together. That did not work.

Our President said that he could work with the opposition party by reaching across the isle. That did not work.

Our President said that his administration would be free from lobbyists. That did not work.

Our President said that his administration would be the most transparent ever. That did not work.

Our President said that he would fix the economy within three years. That did not work.

Our President said that his health care bill would lower health care costs. That did not work.

Our President said that he would not raise taxes on 95% of Americans in any way. That did not work.

Our President said that his stimulus spending bill would solve our employment problem. That did not work.

Our President said that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. That did not work.

Our President has provided an economic "plan" for the next 4 years that is mathematically impossible. That cannot work.

I see a pattern here. Our President said that if he could not fix the economy within three year that he did not deserve a second term.

The 538 was just updated and it shows Obama with 307.2 and Romeny with 230.8 also with Obama having a 86.3% chance of winning. And a probability of getting 290 electoral votes (14%) 330 electoral votes (17%) and odifferent ranges over 330 electoral votes (20%)

    http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

Oh that's right the GOP doesn't believe in math or science.

But if for some reason, the data modeling is corrupted and the analysis of all the polling are wrong, and that's a pretty damn big IF) romney is elected, his presidency will last 35,064 hours and George Bush won't go down in history as the worst president ever, it will be rumnuts.

SCIENCE / MATH ALERT - tea____________— (you fill in the blank)

But for that to happen, for data modeling to be wrong, it means every poll (both right, left and unbiased) has been wrong for the last twenty years. Out of 77 races predicted by polls only three have been wrong - which is where the 3.89% margin of error comes from (MATH ALERT 3/77 = .03896 END MATH ALERT) and the three polls that were wrong, were because there wasn't enough data for the prediction - which isn't the case for this race. The battle ground states have been "polled so much" they should be able to predict when someone is going to fart in church.

BUT just say all these polls are wrong, and the logothrims are wrong and the sun raises in the west and sets in the east, but just say it did happen..... Well here'ss hoping that the Senate Democrats pay back a romney administration with interest and the same zest and zeal that the GOP has put into wanting President Obama to fail.

Reply to Jim Spence: O never said he would raise taxes on the rich or "redistribute their wealth" to the poor. Where can you quote him saying such a absurdity?

    HUH?!?!?!?!?!?

Barrack Hussein has been on a class warfare rampage since the 2008 campaign. His whole economic policy is to raise taxes on the rich. Even though this will only generate about $85 billion a year, enough to pay for 8.5 days of current spending, he has no other solution for our deficit or debt.

He is a statist, which is synonymous with wealth redistribution. Redistribution to the hundreds of social programs, many of which don’t work.

Every government social program is a redistribution of wealth.

He is just asking the very wealthy to pair their fair share like the rest of us do.

OK, let’s play this game, again.

Define “fair”. What is a “fair share”? What is a “level playing field”?

More importantly tell me who is the unbiased, non-partisan, honest arbiter of what is “fair”? Is it you, me, our government, Barrack Hussein, the Pope? Who is the perfect person that will make everything “fair”?

There is NO ONE that can do that. What you may think is fair, I may not, and vice versa. The ONLY fair way is for everyone, regardless of income, to pay the same amount. The only way to do that is to pay the same percentage.

If three friends--one rich, one middle class and one poor--are walking down the street and they look at the ground at the same time and see three $100 bills, what’s the fairest way to divide it? By 1/3 each. Each one gets $100. There is no fairer way to split the money up. (Actually the right way is to see if you can find the owner and return it)

When we attach the emotional aspect to taxes is when it is going to be an argument forever. Like I said, taxes should NEVER be used as a system of rewards and punishments. Taxes are simply funds to run our government, no more, no less.

I have a deadbeat brother-in-law that has been on government assistance for decades because of a “bad back”. Even though he can water and snow ski, play on a softball team and dance the polka at weddings, he’s “disabled”. He believes that everyone above the poverty rate should pay 10% more in taxes. Is that fair? Are YOU willing to pay YOUR “fair share” to satisfy him? Isn’t that a more “level playing field”?

If you don’t think so, why not?

They are getting a tax break bigger than any of us (supposedly in exchange for supplying us more jobs in exchange) problem appears that they just take their tax break $$ and send it to the camen islands, not reinvested in USA.

The top 1% of income earners pay more than 30%. The top 5% pay more than half of the taxes. The top 10% pay 70% of all taxes. The top 25% pay about 80%.

Now, before you start with how the money is distributed. Let me ask you this. Can you do microscopic brain surgery? Can you design the new world trade center skyscraper? Can you score 30 points, get 10 rebounds and dish out 10 assists in an NBA championship game? Could you direct the movie, Titanic. Can you run Microsoft?

    I doubt it.

You Liberals have to STOP this pathetic envy meme. It makes you look insignificant. Stop being jealous of those that are successful, instead, try to emulate them.

There is always someone who is smarter, faster, stronger or just plain better. This is just a fact of life. The better you are the more you are worth. Just like a Picasso or a Lamborghini.

Do you call infrastructure, military, global ecology, etc... wasteful.

First of all, global ecology is none of our business. Only OUR ecology is our concern. The military is one of the mandated responsibilities of Article 1, Section 8 as an Enumerated Power. Infrastructure should be a State issue unless it’s under the Federal governments purview.

And yes, regardless of Federal, State or Local governments, they are all wasteful. All you need to do is Google “Waste, Fraud and Abuse in government” to see the massive amount of money our government wastes.

You Liberals have to start growing a backbone and stop hoping that out criminal government is going to fix your life. It’s not the job of the government to fix your life. Its responsibility is to protect us and perform the functions each and every America citizen is guaranteed under its contract, the Constitution. It’s your responsibility to fix your own life, just like everyone else.

Remember, America provides equal opportunity, NOT equal outcomes.

Greed isn’t someone wanting to keep more of what they earn, its people demanding a greater share of money that someone else has earned.

I'll vote for anyone who will try to improve my standard of living ...without destroying someone else’s!

The elections of 2010 have not been recognized as indicitive of the 'under-the-radar' movement that has overtaken our country.

The polls do not take into account the 'Chick-Fil-A day' onslaught.

Nor do the polls consider the fact that Scott Walker's recall vote garnered more votes for Walker than voted for him in the first place.

Why did the Obama campaign decide to send their 'Big Dog' Clinton to Pennsylvania for FOUR campaign stops when Pennsylvania was supposed to be an Obama 'sure thing' after Romney only gave one speech in Bucks County?

Nov. 6th will surprise a lot of people.

I used to be a Democratic Senatorial District Delegate and this trickle up poverty isn't what I signed on for. Obama is no Clinton. What Bill Clinton had Barack Obama couldn't even borrow to get. Clinton had true bi-partisanship; Obama couldn't bribe a vote from legislators, even in the Democratic Senate! We don't need another 4 years of this. We don't need a do-over president; we need a do-er. The bottom line is, who can make America make more money. Obama couldn't make a profit in a lemonade stand; he'd give away all the product and earnings and have too much overhead. I want a real businessman to turn our suffering economy into a surplus economy. I want someone who has proven success, and can demonstrate it in his own life. I want the same opportunities for my kids that my folks had for me, I want my kid to be able to find work when he graduates in four years. That's not going to happen under Obama. Just look at his record. Are college graduates able to find work? No. Obama's gotta go.

        Elect Romney!

        "ROMNEYISM"

        http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-reich/romneyism_b_2069095.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

The ten guiding principles of Romneyism are:

        1. Corporations are the basic units of society. Corporations are people, and the overriding purpose of an economy is to maximize corporate profits. When profits are maximized, the economy grows fastest. This growth benefits everyone in the form greater output, better products and services, and higher share prices.

        2. Workers are a means to the goal of maximizing corporate profits. If workers do not contribute to that goal, they should be fired. If they cannot then find other work that helps maximize profits in another company, their wages must be too high, and they must therefore accept steadily lower wages until they find a job.

        3. All factors of production -- capital, physical plant and equipment, workers -- are fungible and should be treated the same. Any that fail to deliver high competitive returns should be replaced or discarded. This keeps an economy efficient. Fairness is and should be irrelevant.

        4. Pollution, unsafe products, unsafe working conditions, financial fraud, and other negative side effects of the pursuit of profits are the price society pays for profit-driven growth. They should not be used as excuses to constrain the pursuit of profits through regulation.

        5. Individual worth depends on net worth -- how much money one has made, and the value of the assets that money has been invested in. Any person with enough intelligence and ambition can make a fortune. Failure to do so is sign of moral and intellectual inferiority.

        6. People who fail in the economy should not be coddled. They should not receive food stamps, Medicaid, or any other form of social subsidy. Coddling leads to a weaker society and a weaker economy.

        7. Taxes are inherently bad because they constrain profit-making. It is the right and responsibility of individuals and corporations to exploit every tax loophole they (and their tax attorneys) can find in order to pay the lowest taxes possible.

        8. Politics is a game whose only purpose is to win. Any means used to win the game is legitimate even if it involves lying and cheating, as long as it gains more supporters than it loses.

        9. Democracy is dangerous because it is forever vulnerable to the votes of a majority intent on capturing the wealth of the successful minority, on whom the economy depends. The rich must therefore do whatever is necessary to prevent the majority from exercising its will, including spending large sums of money on lobbyists and political campaigns. The most virtuous among the rich will go a step further and run for president.

        10. The three most important aspects of life are family, religion, and money. Patriotism is a matter of guarding our economy from unfair traders and undocumented immigrants, rather than joining together for the common good. We owe nothing to one another as citizens of the same society.

        .

On Tuesday we'll decide whether these should be the guiding principles of America.

        .

IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT FOR AMERICA?

        HECK NO, VOTE O & JOE! :-)

I mean really if he is soo bad wouldn't everything be falling apart? But it really isn't and yes there are jobs out there right now. Todd, I wish your comments were based on facts. Instead they are a rambling bunch of words echoing in that hollow and non functioning brain of yours. Clinton had the GOP rebel against his ideas and at one point their obstructionism led to a shut down of the government before they gave in and began working with Clinton. President Obama has created 3 million jobs or more during the last 2 years as he worked tirelessly to clean up the economic mess left by Bush.

You can spout all of the lies you wish, it is a free country, but I would pose one question. Why on earth would someone think that Romney is better with the economy when he left the state of Massachussetts in an economic mess during his time as Governor? Why would anyone think he could bring his successful policies to the US when he was so unsuccessful as Governor? Also why is it impossible for him to win the state of Massachussetts if he had been a successful Governor of the state? Just a few things that make you say "ummmm"!

        • Mr. Obama has ADMITTED to cocaine and other drug use in college in his memoir; he had a homosexual affair with Larry Sinclair in 1999, and now he used poor judgment on 9/11 and got our Ambassador killed. He does not put anything about his past out there for review, he just does not act very Presidential. My family is going to vote for the man of character in this race....Governor Romney

Ah, Todd...same old "I used to be a Democrat, but..." nonsense. Yeah, and I used to be Gandhi, but...

Man of character, Mitt Romney. Guy who, along with his running mate, uses staged photo ops then accuses Obama of staging photo ops. True character. Guy who runs as a "severe conservative" in the primaries, but as a moderate in the general. True character. Guy who wouldn't know the truth if it smacked him in the face. True character. Guy who dismisses 47% of the country, including veterans and currently serving military, but then said he didn't mean it. True character. This could go on all day, which is surprising for a man of true character.

Todd - I used to be a Republican, but couldn't abide the platform and the trickle down economy that has never worked. All it has done is make the rich richer and the poor poorer and weaken the middle class. As a woman, I want to keep my rights. I want clean air and water and healthcare for all. Why can't the wealthiest country in the world care for its elderly, children, disabled, disadvantaged and sick? We could if we wanted to. All we need is the political will to change our foreign policies, clean up and protect our environment, and give all citizens an equal opportunity that, these days is reserved for the wealthy few.

Nice that you would go there, though - says a LOT more about you than it does Biden. You and the witless wonders that gave you thumbs up for a derisive comment about mental illness. You people are small...yeah, Obama is the one dividing the country.

Bush isn't on the ballot. Hasn't been in many years.

Nixon made a mess of things too. He isn't on the ballot either.

One of the impeachment counts against him was a single count of lying to the american public. And nobody died during that; it was just a second-rate burglary.

So, we re-elected him & then got all wound up to remove him from office two years later.

Of course he is. His former Neoconservative advisers (handlers) are now advising (handling) Romney. Romney is pretty much the same empty suit Bush was and the true power behind the throne would be the same Neoconservatives. If you liked Bush...you'll love Romney!

So, we are telling our children that the way to success is to be a bully who doesn't need to tell the truth, just keep repeating lies until they magically become the truth (Obama killed his own diplomats in Libya; Jeep is packing up and moving to China).

Obama thinks that "saving" jobs by giving unions a bigger slice of the pie and restoring full benefits to them alone is the same as creating jobs; not even trying to save Americans under attack by terrorists is just despicable and then to lie, and order surrogates to lie, for weeks about the cause and the facts of the murders is not only despicable, but unAmerican. Why don't those who strongly don't like Obama just be honest and admit it is rooted in personal, emotional feelings. Saying that Obama "is a commie" or "plays golf all day" or "is the worst president ever" are not rational clear-minded thoughts or reasons for voting. These are feelings. It is fine to be emotional but when you try to justify it with external reasons that's when you end up with these dramatic insults rather than thought out arguments. I'm not going to vote for Romney but I don't have this seething hate for him. He's probably a good guy but I just can't see how he relates to the average American who is really struggling right now - and no it is NOT because of Obama. It just doesn't seem like Mitt has ever truly had to worry about barely getting by. That's my bias but I don't feel the need to insult him in all capital letters. I guess those who are so super-emotionally against Obama don't realize that they actually turn off those still undecided and make them think more about voting FOR Obama.

Yeah, FedUp...problem is only right wing frauds, including Fox News, think anything is there. Keep poking around and grasping at straws, maybe you'll find something someday, but I seriously doubt it.

So, all this work to be done, yet all the right wing can do is try to find something...anything...to hang on the Black guy. You, Issa, Cantor, McConnell, etc. What a clown car. The do-nothing Congress: "Screw the country, we've got to get Obama!".

I'm sorry that your life is so miserable that you feel a need to constantly attack and belittle others who have opinions different from you. A healthy adult would listen to both (all) sides of an argument and make an informed decision without name-calling or emotional rants. Unfortunately, you seem to think that only you have a valid answer for the multitude of problems that this country faces. If you are so smart why don't you run for president?

Terry, if you have nothing of value to contribute, perhaps you should just avoid posting. Avoid posting like trouble avoids facts.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

              Mike,

I agree with the sentiment, but shouldn't you, credit it correctly?

It was published in an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2010.

There is a post crediting it to a blog out of America a year earlier, but the blog linked is gone. (and unfindable on the wayback machine)

The Guardian.co.uk has it back in Oct 10, 2011

American Thinker used it way back on April 4th 2011

No real idea where it originated from, but it is a few years old...

              Come on Mikesanjacinto..

The decent thing is to credit the orginal source of what you wrote there. If you do not remember the source then place the quotation in bracket. You cannot use someone else' thoughts as your own. This is not kosher, nor the catholic thing to do.

To the original Czech newspaper that published this all we need to say to them is that the Czech who only a few years ago were under a dictatorship and where newspapers where the mouthpiece of the strong man in charge 'the right man' should learn from the virtues of democracy rather than opposing the outcome of the exercise of democracy by a free people. Democracy in any form is better than the power dictated by the "right people", be they newspaper reporters or strong despots. For you, remember President Obama was democratically elected in 2008.

So the people screaming "Four more years" were unmolested, but if anyone voiced dissent they were set upon by armed thugs and dragged away.
