Romney reaches out to independent voters in Ohio

The focus remains on Ohio, but both candidates raced through battleground states in the final sprint to Election Day. Mitt Romney visited seven states where he conducted eight events. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The clock ticking down in this critical state, Mitt Romney spent his Sunday afternoon rally in Cleveland reaching out to the independent voters he'll need to claim victory on Tuesday, saying that President Barack Obama has refused to listen to voices like theirs.

“Four years ago, let’s look at the promises the president made. He promised to do so very much, but frankly he fell so very short. He promised to be a post-partisan president, but he’s been most partisan, he’s been divisive, blaming, attacking, dividing," Romney said. "And by the way, it’s not only Republicans that he refused to listen to; he also refused to listen to independent voices."

President Barack Obama is calling on his biggest supporters and surrogates in the final two days before Election Day. His focus remains on Ohio, which offers 18 electoral votes. NBC's Kristen Welker reports.

"You’ve watched what’s happened in this country over the last four years with an independent voice," Romney said. "You hoped that President Obama would live up to his promise to bring people together to solve big problems, but he hasn’t. And I will.”

The calculated appeal to independents, similar in every recitation of the Romney closing argument, takes on additional importance here in Ohio, where a poll out this morning conducted by The Columbus Dispatch newspaper shows President Obama ahead of Romney, 50 percent to 48 percent, in the Buckeye state overall, helped by winning unaffiliated voters by ten points.

Romney advisers say their polling shows the former Massachusetts governor winning independent voters, and they argue that whoever wins independent voters almost certainly wins Ohio.

A new NBC poll should give both presidential campaigns reason to hope. Obama comes in at 48 percent; Romney at 47 percent. Taking Sandy into account, 80 percent in the Northeast said they approved of the president's handling of Superstorm Sandy. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.

With that mindset, closing argument promises to focus on economic issues and to work beyond partisan boundaries are designed to resonate.

"I won't spend any of my efforts trying to pass partisan legislation that won't help with economic growth," Romney told the roughly 6,000 supporters who gathered to hear his remarks on Sunday afternoon.

Democrats have scoffed at Romney's claim of a record of bipartisanship, or that he would be better than President Obama at reaching across aisle. They cite that Romney issued more than 800 vetoes during his time as governor in Massachusetts, where the state legislature was overwhelmingly Democratic.

MITT ROMNEY PAID ZERO TAXES 1996 - 2009:

"Using a tax shelter called a CRUT (charitable remainder unitrust) that was held by the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Mitt Romney was able to pay zero taxes (legally) every single year from 1996 to 2009. Why did he stop in 2009? Because he would make public his 2010 tax return, that is why. This tax loophole was killed by Congress in 1997. However those including Romney that were already using it were allowed to continue it. The way it works, is that Romney makes a "charitable" contribution to the Church of Latter Day Saints and it goes into a trust. Since the trust is held by the church, the money is tax deferred. Any capital gains, are non taxed because of the charities status. Like an annuity, the donor gets a charitable tax deduction and an stream of cash payments. When Romney dies, the church accepts full ownership.."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/04/1155381/-Breaking-Romney-Paid-Zero-Taxes-From-1996-To-2009

Now we understand why Romney refused to show more than TWO Tax Returns.

And now we know Harry Reid was right, when he said Romney paid zero taxes for TEN years.

Romney paid ZERO taxes from 1996 until 2009. It is time for Americans to know the truth about Mitt Romney.

Feisty,

Speaker Harry Reid was CORRECT when he said Mitt Romney paid NO taxes for a decade. That's what Senator Reid said!

Hence, Romney only showed tax returns (divvied up) for the last two years.

And speaking of the rich politicians who don't want to pay their fair share, equally important is today's media and all the money they make.

You put the two together and you understand why social media has become the lifeline for news and information for people in this country who know when they are being lied to and manipulated.

I saw this statement as well over @ DailyKos and boy did it explain to me so clearly my disappointment in today's media, as well as our politicians:

They get rich and **** the middle class.

The instant these media guys get rich, they forget what was unique about America circa 1932 to 1970s: good public education, strong voice for labor, equality of opportunity, and relatively honest politics that gave working class folks a voice.

____________

There are no working class folks on tv. I didn't watch MTP this morning, but from the names I saw on the panel, two of them are pathological liars. And both of them are Republicans.

That's what has become of today's media for the most part.

Please vote Democrat. Please vote for President Obama. It's the only way we can retain our democracy. By voting.

"ROMNEYISM"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-reich/romneyism_b_2069095.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

The ten guiding principles of Romneyism are:

1. Corporations are the basic units of society. Corporations are people, and the overriding purpose of an economy is to maximize corporate profits. When profits are maximized, the economy grows fastest. This growth benefits everyone in the form greater output, better products and services, and higher share prices.

2. Workers are a means to the goal of maximizing corporate profits. If workers do not contribute to that goal, they should be fired. If they cannot then find other work that helps maximize profits in another company, their wages must be too high, and they must therefore accept steadily lower wages until they find a job.

3. All factors of production -- capital, physical plant and equipment, workers -- are fungible and should be treated the same. Any that fail to deliver high competitive returns should be replaced or discarded. This keeps an economy efficient. Fairness is and should be irrelevant.

4. Pollution, unsafe products, unsafe working conditions, financial fraud, and other negative side effects of the pursuit of profits are the price society pays for profit-driven growth. They should not be used as excuses to constrain the pursuit of profits through regulation.

5. Individual worth depends on net worth -- how much money one has made, and the value of the assets that money has been invested in. Any person with enough intelligence and ambition can make a fortune. Failure to do so is sign of moral and intellectual inferiority.

6. People who fail in the economy should not be coddled. They should not receive food stamps, Medicaid, or any other form of social subsidy. Coddling leads to a weaker society and a weaker economy.

7. Taxes are inherently bad because they constrain profit-making. It is the right and responsibility of individuals and corporations to exploit every tax loophole they (and their tax attorneys) can find in order to pay the lowest taxes possible.

8. Politics is a game whose only purpose is to win. Any means used to win the game is legitimate even if it involves lying and cheating, as long as it gains more supporters than it loses.

9. Democracy is dangerous because it is forever vulnerable to the votes of a majority intent on capturing the wealth of the successful minority, on whom the economy depends. The rich must therefore do whatever is necessary to prevent the majority from exercising its will, including spending large sums of money on lobbyists and political campaigns. The most virtuous among the rich will go a step further and run for president.

10. The three most important aspects of life are family, religion, and money. Patriotism is a matter of guarding our economy from unfair traders and undocumented immigrants, rather than joining together for the common good. We owe nothing to one another as citizens of the same society.

.

On Tuesday we'll decide whether these should be the guiding principles of America.

.

IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT FOR AMERICA?

HECK NO, VOTE O & JOE! :-)

The question isn’t who is going to win on Tuesday. The outcome is a given. President Obama will be reelected and the Democrats will gain seats in the Senate and House. The real question is what’s next for the Republican Party? Will the crazies continue to run the show? Will Republican candidates still be forced to pledge their allegiance to Grover Norquist? Will they continue to be the party of fear, hate and religious intolerance? Will they be the anti-science and the make up the facts as you go party? Will they listen to Rush the junkie or come back to the ideals of Reagan? Will they become the party of Chris Christi or the stick with the tea baggers? If the tea baggers run the show, we just may have another President Clinton in 2016.

Romney not only was against federal loans for the auto industry, but Bain Capital was among the private firms who refused to provide capital to the auto industry. Then there is the scandal about Romney/Bain making millions buying the auto parts division of General Motors on the cheap, and then using this leverage to blackmail GM. Mitt Romney is worse than Gordon Gekko.

President Obama, on the other hand, had the vision to understand the importance of the auto industry, and manufacturing and related jobs that extend into Ohio. President Obama did the unpopular thing at the time, putting his political career at risk for true conviction -- the president not only has a moral compass, he has true north.

And this lie about the president is more of the Joe Isuzu bullshifting from Romney:

He promised to be a post-partisan president, but he’s been most partisan, he’s been divisive, blaming, attacking, dividing," Romney said. "And by the way, it’s not only Republicans that he refused to listen to; he also refused to listen to independent voices."

Please Ohio, and voters across this great nation, do your homework and look at the only record there is for Mitt Romney -- His time as Governor of Massachusetts. Romney not only refused to work with Democrats, he was the Poster Boy for the elitism of the Robber Baron days -- He roped off the elevator and made it private.

Just as Romney is doing now with the Media Blackout, he would not allow the press to access him. He was more interested in running for POTUS and his own power and fame than he was the people of Massachusetts. There is a reason he is behind in Massachusetts -- and not just a little but by a lot.

Heck, Romney/Ryan aren't doing too well in Michigan, or New Hampshire, or Wisconsin either where voters know them well. But after a term as Governor in MA, ask yourselves why the voters there do NOT support Mitt Romney now. It's all you really need to know.

Like there isn't enough rightwing crap in here, Stinky shows up?

Charlie-1915998 -- Also, the question is, will the Dems get to work to fix our broken election process? The Republicans can't win on merit and know demographics are against them. So they were busy with their "strategery" to gain power at the state level.

By getting Republican majorities in so many states, especially swing states (Dems only control about three of these), they have had Governors like Rick Scott in Florida, Kasich/Husted in Ohio, etc. who have been very busy finding ways to tip the election in Romney's favor.

What Dems need to do is think like criminals in order to combat these criminals, but it is not natural to the progressive profile to think or behave like this. But there MUST be changes made, preferably removing elections from the states and making it a federal, standardized and regulated process. We the American people must have faith in our institutions, most of all our election system.

If we are to be a beacon of democracy to the rest of the world, the rightwing shenanigans must end NOW.

RepublicansForObama-6186389 -- Romney not paying taxes reminds me how we barely missed the bullet with Ross Perot and finding out who he really was. Mitt Romney is a fraud, and worse, he is an unpatriotic creep who has NO right to be any where near the White House.

2004, when George W. Bush secured re-election after the Redskins lost to the Packers -- because Al Gore had won the popular vote in 2000.

======================================

That's pretty lame unless I missed President Gore somehow...

It's 2004 all over AGAIN Spanky...The incumbent wins anyway, you know like when the dems were stuck with the charismatic Senator Kerry. Heck, they even both claim Massachusetts as their home, or one of them.

How soon they forget...

What Mitt did with the LDS donation is done by many millionaires. I had a great Aunt that set one of these up. The money or stock given to the charitable organization is a charitable deduction and fully permissible. Depending upon the circumstances the resulting annuity is either paritally or wholly tax free.

What Mitt received from this fund may be tax free, but the rest of his money is in a blind trust, which he pays taxes on

I.E. Mitt has paid taxes all those years on everything except the portion he donated to his church that is sent to him as an annuity.

Saying Mitt paid no taxes IS A LIE

MITT ROMNEY PAID ZERO TAXES 1996 - 2009

RepublicansForObama-6186389

& Others...

We know Romney has NOT paid his fair share in taxes prior to 2010 because:

1) Romney wouldn't release his tax returns prior to 2010, and even the 2010 was not release in full, nor 2011. If there was nothing questionable, he would not have taken the on-going hits for it.

2) An investigative journalist and author, a specialist in economics and tax issues, and winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Beat Reporting, David Kay Johnston (who I believe is also Mormon), knew Romney was using loopholes of ALL kinds, and possibly even benefited from the IRS amnesty for using gray tax shelters to evade repatriating taxes. Mormons will understand Johnston's comment that Romney fails to Choose the Right.

3) In follow up to Johnston, other Mormons like Reid was a whistle blower, and even the Huntsmans have distanced themselves from Romney. Mitt Romney is an embarrassment to the LDS church. But most of all he is an unpatriotic American.

If Romney manages to squeak into the White House with his lies, the Republican Party will rue the day -- He makes Nixon, Dubya, and any other administration look preferable.

I read the President's economic plan for the next four years. The Plan is devoid of detail to include budget. It appears to be primarily a wish list. It seems that the President wants the federal government to spend a lot of money that it does not have to train math and science teacher's to teach vocational classes at the JC level for jobs that do not really exist in this country. Foreign manufacturers are paying their workers roughly a tenth of the minimum that our workers require and that is why they can always beat domestic manufactures on price. Neither candidate seems to have a solution for this problem. It is our huge trade deficit that is degrading efforts to revive the economy by injecting more money.

In many states, state colleges and universities are having to raise tuition to make ends meet because of tighter state budgets. The President wants to withdrew federal funding from these schools so that they either have to raise tuition even more or close down facilities. The President thinks that this effort will help improve the quality of education in America.

The President is expecting to pass his increased taxes on the "Rich". He has been trying to do that for the past four years but he somehow thinks the can prevail in the next 4 years. This tax will at best take 100 billion dollars per year from the private sector and put it into the public sector. The President promised that the 2012 federal deficit would not exceed 229.27 billion dollars yet the actual deficit exceeded 1.1 trillion dollars so his efforts to date to cut the deficit have been less than successful. He is proposing more spending and unspecified cuts and which has been provided it is impossible that any actually deficit reduction will take place. So I am looking at a nominal annual deficit of 1 trillion dollars assuming the increased taxes on the "rich" passes.

At the heart of the President's plan is the idea of bringing the troops home in 2014 and with the savings use half of it to start paying down our debt and use the other half for infrastructure improvements. To start paying down the debt the federal government has to run a surplus. To run a surplus with half of the piece dividend, the federal government will have to realize a savings of more than 2 trillion dollars per year from bringing the troops home. That amount is more than twice a s much as we are paying for defense including all overseas operations. The President's plan is mathematically impossible. Mathematically impossible plans are at the least less than viable. The President's plan is an example of fantasy economics.

My biggest concern is all the debt that our federal government has been accumulating. With a debt or more than 16 trillion dollars and huge deficits predicted for at least another decade, I estimate that the money that the federal government is borrowing today will end up costing the tax payers more than 10 times the amount borrowed to repay over the next 180 years. Paying 10 times the going rate for goods and services is not good management. The President has yet to present a detailed plan for repaying the debt. The tax payers have a right to know how much all of this federal borrowing to going to end up costing them.

    Backhouse

MITT ROMNEY PAID ZERO TAXES 1996 - 2009:

First of all this has been public for over 5 days and it has no traction. It’s a non-issue.

I know, I know, it’s an issue to you Libbies because you look at taxes as a punishment and reward system for redistribution of wealth. This is where you are wrong.

Taxes should simply be used to fund our governments function. No more, no less.

As you stated Romney was able to pay zero taxes on his CRUT.

    LEGALLY!!!!!!!!!

So, why all the whining? If it’s legal, it’s not his fault for using it. If anything we should be happy he gets to keep more of his own money rather than keep feeding the bottomless pit known as our government.

Actually, you Liberals should be angry at yourselves for allowing this. You’re the one’s constantly advocating your sacrosanct “progressive” tax system. You claim it’s the only “fair” tax system yet we’ve been using it for a 100 years and we still can’t get it right.

    Why?

Once again, because you look at it as a social/moral/ethical issue rather than a fiscal issue.

Our tax code is over 72,000 pages long and it changes DAILY. There are over 1,100 different forms. Between 1986 and 2005 Congress passed over 14,400 amendments to the tax code, this equates to almost 3 changes every day for 19 straight years. There have been about 4,430 tax code changes in the last 10 years. There were approximately 580 changes in 2010 alone.

We have manipulated the tax brackets from 1% for the poor to as high as 94% in the upper brackets. Historically despite all these manipulations our tax revenue, as a percentage of GDP, has been relatively constant at approximately 18%. This happens because of the machinations available in the tax code.

Our tax code has become so convoluted that in the past two years the IRS has had over 110 million inquiries each year regarding our massive tax code, over 25% of the questions couldn't be answered by the agents. The Government Accountability Office publicly released a study showing that, as of the end of fiscal year 2010, roughly $330 billion in federal taxes had never been paid.

More government waste, fraud, abuse and corruption, yet you Liberals keep asking for more.

No government agency should instill the fear in the American people that the IRS does. Remember, the government works for us, not vice versa. Governments goal must be to work as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.

There are hundreds of LEGAL tax deductions, withholds, transfers and other manipulations. Lobbyists, special interest groups and other influential people determine our tax code. How many of you were aware of the 580 amendments that were added to the tax code in 2010?

Why do you Libbies persist in embracing this criminal theft of our hard earned money by our own government?

Why do you Liberals believe that raising taxes on cigarettes, energy consumption, carbon production and other bogeymen will affect changes to decrease those activities but you don’t believe the same will happen when personal and corporate taxes are increased on investment, savings or other growth behaviors?

Does Mitt Romneys tax avoidance, NOT EVASION, bother me? Not at all. It’s legal. It’s none of my, or your, business what he does with his own money, just like it’s none of my business what you do with your money.

Taxes are not a moral or ethical issue, they’re a legal or illegal issue. Pay what is legally due and go about your business. If someone else legally uses the dysfunctional mess called our tax code the only person you can blame is yourself. You allow this monstrosity.

It’s time to get rid on this absolute failure of taxation.

It’s time for either a Constitutionally mandated Flat Tax or Fair Tax. Constitutionally mandate it so that only 2/3rds majority and state ratification can change it. That way every American will know exactly what the tax rate is.

Double taxation in any form is wrong.

We are victims of “taxation without representation”. When the IRS can’t answer 25% of the questions about taxes, something is horribly wrong with our tax system.

Greed isn’t someone wanting to keep more of what they earn, its people demanding a greater share of money that someone else has earned.

I'll vote for anyone who will try to improve my standard of living ...without destroying someone else’s!

    ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 FOR REAL AMERICANS©

I just want to add that concerning the economy we need not worry because our "eye candy" President has this all well in hand. The "rich" will gladly pay for everything. There is now total transparency in the federal government and the nation has been brought together through hope and change. Our President has no problems in getting things done in congress because of the success of his reaching across the isle. GITMO is still closed and the stimulus has completely solved all of our unemployment problems. The 2012 federal deficit was less than 229.27 billion dollars as promised. We are now at peace with everyone in the world and all or our troops will be home before the end of 2014 and by 2015 we will start paying off the national debt. I am sure that everyone has figured out what they are going to do with all that money they have been saving on health care costs. We can all go on vacations using the new green energy, high speed rail system that was built via those stimulus funded shovel ready jobs. I am sure that everyone is looking forward to watching the President and my congressman go over the health care bill, "line by line", on C-SPAN as the President has promised. All hail the Chief!

Independents are former moderates of both parties. The disgraceful way the Democrats pushed the healthcare bill through Congress via the back door and didn't even read it before voting makes them grossly partisan. Add to that the scientifically backward GOP who think putting their heads in the sand will make global warming and evolution go away are downright scary. And neither party is even willing to think about budget reform, just continue spending our way into oblivion.

Independents reject both extremes, but there is no candidate for us put forth by either party.

Well there you have it libs. The Redskins lost today, so, as the "Redskin Rule" goes, the incumbent party is "outta here".

When the Redskins win their game before the election, the incumbent party
wins the presidential vote. If the Redskins lose, the non-incumbent wins.

The only exception was in 2004, when Washington fell to Green Bay, but George
      W. Bush still went on to win the election over John Kerry.

Here’s a rundown of the Redskins Rule games since 1940:

      • 1940 – Redskins 37, Steelers 10 – Roosevelt (D) defeats Willkie.
      • 1944 – Redskins 14, Rams 10 – Roosevelt defeats Dewey.
      • 1948 – Redskins 59, Boston Yanks 21 – Truman (D) defeats Dewey.
      • 1952 – Steelers 24, Redskins 23 – Eisenhower (R) defeats Stevenson.
      • 1956 – Redskins 20, Browns 9 – Eisenhower defeats Stevenson.
      • 1960 – Browns 31, Redskins 10 – Kennedy (D) defeats Nixon.
      • 1964 – Redskins 27, Bears 20 – Johnson (D) defeats Goldwater.
      • 1968 – Giants 13, Redskins 10 – Nixon (R) defeats Humphrey.
      • 1972 – Redskins 24, Cowboys 20 – Nixon defeats McGovern.
      • 1976 – Cowboys 20, Redskins 7 – Carter (D) defeats Ford.
      • 1980 – Vikings 39, Redskins 14 – Reagan (R) defeats Carter.
      • 1984 – Redskins 27, Falcons 14 – Reagan defeats Mondale.
      • 1988 – Redskins 27, Saints 24 – Bush defeats Dukakis.
      • 1992 – Giants 24, Redskins 7 – Clinton (D) defeats Bush.
      • 1996 – Redskins 31, Colts 16 – Clinton defeats Dole.
      • 2000 – Titans 27, Redskins 21 – Bush (R) defeats Gore.
      • 2004 – Packers 28, Redskins 13 – Bush defeats Kerry, ending the streak.
      • 2008 – Steelers 23, Redskins 6 – Obama (D) defeats McCain, restoring the
        Redskins Rule.
      • 2012 – Redskins vs. Panthers – Obama vs. Romney – TBD

As for SB5. The Union promised more jobs for teachers, fire, and police by dumping SB-5. Well It was dumped and now all three are experiencing layoff because the municpalities and schools have already undergone one round of layoffs and closing of facilites. After November, more will be layed off because there are lots of levies in Ohio to raise funds for the schools. When those fail, hundreds of more teachers will lose thier jobs and extra cushy pensions.

Good work Backhouse to get out the message. This is a huge mess America! Hey Ohio! The story is true! The IRS is still launching an investigation/audit on the GOP/RNC "Tax Cheat." Did he pay his State Income Taxes? Did he pay his Federal Income Taxes? How much of his profits did he hide in his Offshore Accounts? Who did his Tax Returns during these 14 Years? They obviously used unsound methods of completing "Romulian Romney's" Tax Returns. The IRS and the American People need to see his Tax Returns from 1996 to 2009. The GOP/RNC "Tax Manipulator" needs to be brought in for questioning. He can try too "Flip-Flop" in front of an IRS investigation/audit. Start asking questions America, and demand complete answers. Let your representatives know how you feel America! Is this the GOP/RNC "Tax Cheaters" idea of a fair tax code??

Romney is NOT what he tries to appear to be!

Romney's Position on Abortion Comes Directly from the Mormon Church

There are some serious issues evangelicals must consider when it comes to Mitt Romney. One is the fact that he WILL take marching orders directly from the Mormon Church's "prophets, seers, and revelators".

This is not mere biased opinion. It is already happening!

In the VP debate, Paul Ryan, a Catholic, told the country what the Romney administration's position on abortion would be:

        — "the policy of a Romney administration will be to oppose abortions with the exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother"--

This is NOT the position of most evangelicals. It is NOT the position of the Catholic Chirch. It is NOT the position of the Republican Party. So, where does it come from?

It IS the OFFICIAL POSITION OF THE MORMON CHURCH! Verbatim!

You want to be in subjection to the Mormon theocracy? Then vote for Mitt Romney.

        Your choice.

Thank you for an honest post about the Mormon Church issue. I think because The Mitt is not open and honest and discuss his strong relationship with the church it makes people think he is not huge follower of the cult, it will be a factor in all of his policies as President. I have been writing about this for a long time and have been very concerned about his relationship with the Mormon Church. It is the big elephant in the corner that no one talks about. His not paying taxes is part of the mystery behind the guy, I think he would have used the tax records to show how much he paid and been proud of it, but he couldn't because he does not want us to see how he has used the system. As Ann said " we stayed within the law", what does that mean, whos law? This guy is not to be trusted!

mgm-459334--- Mitt Romney's relationship with the Mormon Church goes deeper, and is even more disturbing than you may realize. The main reason that he does'nt "talk about his faith?" When he went through the temple, to be "consecrated" as a missionary, he took a BLOOD OATH to never reveal anything that took place in that temple, when he and Ann were married in the temple, the same oath, again! Of course it is fairly common knowledge, that they do Baptisms in the temples, but do you know who they do them FOR??? They perform Baptisims for DEAD NON-MORMON ANSESTORS, to "bring them into the Mormon faith!" How sick is that?!! You are also correct about the Church being a factor, when it comes to his policies as President (if he is elected), he will walk in lockstep with "Church" policies or face damnation!! It won't make one bit of difference, to whom he may "owe" favors, when it comes to politics, the Church will just, "pay them off" to shut them up!! Or make them disappear!! The Mormon Church has had it's fingers in the political pie for some time now. Do you remember a candidate for President, oh a few years back now named, Bo Gritz? He was a Mormon too, but never made it into the National spotlight. So you see the Mormon Church, has been trying to get one of it's own into the White House for some time. Oh! And let's not forget Mitt's daddy, he ran for President too. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!

Myth Romney - TAX CHEAT Extraordinaire

        Mitt Romney - LIAR

Lying for the Lord refers to the practice of lying to protect the image of and belief in the Mormon religion, a practice which Mormonism itself fosters in various ways. From Joseph Smith's denial of having more than one wife, to polygamous Mormon missionaries telling European investigators that reports about polygamy in Utah were lies put out by "anti-Mormons" and disgruntled ex-members, to Gordon B. Hinckley's dishonest equivocation on national television over Mormon doctrine, Mormonism's history seems replete with examples of lying. Common members see such examples as situations where lying is justified. For the Mormon, loyalty and the welfare of the church are more important than the principle of honesty, and plausible denials and deception by omission are warranted by an opportunity to have the Mormon organization seen in the best possible light. This is part of the larger package of things that lead many to describe Mormonism as a cult. "Lying for the lord" is part of Mormonism's larger deceptive mainstreaming tactics, and conversion numbers would drastically lower if important Mormon beliefs were fully disclosed to investigators.

right, Harry Reid must have hiden all Romney's tax files to claim that he hasn't paid any tax in 10 years.

you must be just as low as Reid.

In what light do you suppose the Mormon God sees "venture capitalists"? Find a vulnerable company or corporation, get your investors to buy said business for pennies on the dollar, close the doors and sell off the assets. Pocket the bulk of the net profits, and reward your investors with a relative pittance. How else does a devoutly non-productive member of our society become a millionaire two hundred times over?

I heard this term"Lying for the Lord" for the first time at a dinner party last weekend. The person telling us about it was a past member of the church and tried to explain why the Mitt is very comfortable lying. It is OK and kind of like, the end jusifies the means.

This election is clearer than any I can remember.

Do we want as President a 1% poster boy like Romney. Who would take our country back to the failed policies of the Bush years.Policies that brought America to the economic collapse that we are just now overcoming.

Do we want to support a Republican candidate whose party is suppressing the rights of Americans to vote in Florida and Ohio. No other party in America is using dirty tricks to try an steal an election.

Do we want as President a Romney that won't even say he supports equal pay for equal work for women. Whose party wants to abolish the minimum wage which helps the poorest of our citizens survive. Whose party wants to abolish a women's right to control their own reproductive rights. And would return women to back alley abortions. Whose party wants to turn Medicare into a voucher/coupon system, harming America's senior citizens. A man whose party wants to strip the safety net from the poor, whose party denies science in 2012,and is infamous for demeaning education for our children. And can we trust a man with secret foreign bank accounts, who is afraid for the American people to see his tax returns.

This election will define whether the American voters will accept a man,Romney, that disdains us by openly lying to our face. Thinking we aren't decent enough to care if we're lied to. Who in private,to his mega-rich backers insults almost half of the Americans people as moochers and said he wasn't going to worry about them.

We need to vote tomorrow, and let Romney and his 1% masters know they can't steal or buy our freedom in this country.

Vote Obama/Biden for a Real Americans. Get out and vote.

              • What a joke... They sampled 586 Democrats and and only 537 Republicans and 241 independents which translates out to an 9.12% oversampling of Democrats! Does anybody believe that more Democratic voters are going to show up at the polls than they showed up in 2008? Only if your delusional!
              • .
              • Romney is going to obliterate Obama if these are the numbers comming out of a model that oversamples democrats by 9%!!!

Romney ahead in 12 of the last 21 polls, tied in 6, and obama leads in 3.

Not bad considering 6-10% democrat weighted polling.

I think if they keep the dem voter fraud down, it's going to be a shocker.

The last 6 elections, the incumbant only averaged 1% increase in polling percentage on election day...so with obama polling at 47%, he can't get to 50%.

Independants (like myself) are breaking for Romney by 10% margin.

I can only question the wisdom of voting for anyone aligned with a party that has recently featured such intellectual, moral and ethical luminaries such as Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, Michele Bachmann et al. Strikes me as a failure of critical thinking skills, or something just a bit more dated and sinister. If you vote for or against anyone because of the color of their skin, their gender or their ethnic background, you disgrace yourself, your community, your nation and your species.

Selling President Barack Hussein Obama to a gullible public reminds me of the "pet rock" craze that once swept the US. Millions of people who didn't have the knowledge to recognize a pet rock as an oxymoronic concept bought a pet rock.

Once these people received their pet rock; they named, petted, clothed and walked their pet rock. In the end even the dimmest of these people figured out it was just a rock and threw it out.

Listen up all of you undecided voters, awhile back an Ayn Rand Worshiper happened to disclosed just what the Ayn Rand worshiper’s who happens to dominate today's GOP has been up to throughout their previous three administrations, and if ever fully successful will spell nothing, but doom and gloom for the majority in this country!

Read it below to understand just how delusional and ludicrous the GOP has become!

“You're right. We began a plan to unwind the decades of Marxist totalitarianism that the Democrat left aided and abetted by liberal Republicans foisted upon our country.

We face a stark choice this November, and it’s either liberty and the Constitution (Romney), or totalitarianism and enslavement to a Marxist state under Obama.

                In a coup begun under Wilson and rapidly expanded by Hoover and FDR, we lost our status as free citizens under a Constitutional Republic. Since then, we have been relegated to the status of subjects rather than free people. We are at the mercy of Govt. who determines how much we are allowed to keep of what we earn, what to plant, when to plant it, control over all of business with a Dept. of Labor, minimum wages, OSHA, EPA, and a Commerce Dept. that ignores the Constitution;

The American people were lulled into this enslavement to the state by a planned brainwashing through a public education system devised by the Communist John Dewey who modeled after the Soviet system. His specific goal was to replace home and church in developing the minds of those being educated.

Now we appear to be headed toward our own Greek moment. Unless we reverse the course and repudiate the totalitarians like Obama and restore ourselves to following the Constitution and upholding individual liberty over collectivism, the great American experiment in freedom is close to ending.

I'm an old man and won't have to endure too many more years of this totalitarianism, but I weep for my children, grandchildren, and my grandchildren's children who will never know what America was designed to be; a land of individual liberty where govt. is restrained from intruding on our lives. Instead they will live in a land where the govt. dictates and the sheep meekly follow.”

And, then he goes on to quote Samuel Adam’s “The Natural Rights of the Colonists as Men, The Report of the Committee of Correspondence to the Boston Town Meeting,” Nov. 20, 1772

The above response clearly indicates that today’s Ayn Rand Worshiping dominated GOP has been purposely sabotaging our economy, and lives in the same delusional world that their hero Ayn Rand lived in. A world devoid of any social structure, whereas businesses are free of regulations, and able to wreak havoc on our citizens and the environment. Where survival of the fittest is the rule, a totally antisocial world where only misfits live! And, that is the type of country we’ll end up living in if we allow the Ayn Rand Worshiping GOP to complete their goals by electing Romney/Ryan, which will eventually lead to the total demise of our country!

Even if they were on the fence his comment asking Ohio voters to vote for revenge pretty much confirmed all the claims about his dislike/hatred for much of America. Republican or Democrat is all the same. Only the followers are fooly blinded or having some kind of personal gain leading to blaming games that my ears sick and tired to hear. FOX and NBC news have the same trait: narrow mind and one side stories. May be we need a third party, Communist so we all can learn the same lesson: corruption in high places and the rest are equally poor.

Do We Really Want A Romney Presidency?

                    By
                    Michael Chester

                    Webster’s Dictionary defines a
sociopath as: “someone who behaves in a dangerous or violent way towards other
people and does not feel guilty about such behavior.” In everyday usage it can
be used to mean someone who has no conscience; someone who only cares about
what benefits himself or herself with no regard for the suffering or loss of
                    others
                    .

When most people tell a lie, they
have “tells.” They may look away, give too much or too little detail, have
increased heart rate and many other indicators. They feel a sense of guilt for
lying and it shows. For a sociopath, lying comes naturally and without that
pesky conscience, they can be very convincing. Their only concern is getting
                    what they want.

                    The most famous sociopath from
recent history is probably, serial killer, Ted Bundy. He was intelligent,
charming and handsome: a deadly combination for a sociopath. He was able to
charm young women into trusting him even during a time when women should have
been even more aware of ‘stranger danger” than they normally are. His
sociopathy served him well. He could lie convincingly and his charm and
handsomeness only made him more attractive.

There are several jobs that are
perfect for the sociopath, such as being a hit man. Feeling no guilt, he is
able to carry out the murder simply to make money. A normal person would suffer
tremendous feelings of guilt for that type of behavior. A military sniper can
justify his job believing that what he does is for the greater good and may
save the lives of people on his side, but in talking to former soldiers who
were snipers, they said that they still have some conflicted feelings about
what they had to do. A sociopath would feel no conflict.

Another good job for a sociopath is
as a vulture capitalist. This is a person who takes control of a valuable
company, sucks out all of the money and discards what is left. He has no regard
for those individuals who have spent their lives building a company they can be
proud of or the employees that lose their jobs as a result. His only concern is
how much money can be made. By now, most of you have heard of the trail of
destruction left by Mitt Romney and Bain Capital. For those not familiar with
their behavior I will give a brief analogy. Suppose you borrowed money and
bought a new car. Upon its delivery, you took it to a chop shop and had all of
the valuable parts removed and sold. You then took what was left to a scrapyard
and sold it as scrap. You then filed for bankruptcy and got out of paying back
the car loan, but keeping all of the money you got along the way. If you had a
lot of chutzpah you might even file an insurance claim to get paid for the loss
of the car. Of course, in the real world, you would be arrested and charged
with multiple counts of fraud, but in Mitt Land this is all legal.

A lot of jokes have been made about
strapping his dog to the roof of the car for a road trip, but how could anyone
with an ounce of human compassion for his family’s pet treat him so cruelly?
Only a sociopath would put his convenience ahead of the health and safety of
his children’s pet. Why? To have more room for his valuables or maybe so he
didn’t have to listen to the dog’s barking. Animal cruelty is one of earliest
indicators of a sociopathic personality and often precedes human cruelty.

As a candidate, Mitt Romney has
changed his position on so many things so many times, that the running joke is:
“If you don’t like Mitt’s position on something, wait five minutes and he will
change it.” As a sociopath, he has no problem saying whatever he feels his
audience wants to hear. All politicians do this to a point, but most have a
line that they won’t cross. If such a line exists for Mitt Romney, no one has
                    yet to see it.

He has that same deadly combination
of traits that Ted Bundy had; he is charming, handsome, educated, and
intelligent. Unlike Bundy, his goals are money, power and prestige, not literal
rape and murder. These are more socially acceptable goals and I guess we can be
grateful for that. Many “normal” people share these goals and attributes and
there is nothing wrong with them, it is how you go about achieving them. The
sociopath will do whatever it takes with the only limits being what he can get
                    away with.

Along the way he has picked up some
endorsements that one could reasonably question. He has been endorsed by the
National Rifle Association as a pro gun candidate even though his history is
far from a pro gun position. Here is a brief history of how his position has
                    “evolved.”

                    From the 2008 Opposition Research
report prepared by the McCain Campaign.

                    • In 1994 Senate race, Romney backed
Brady bill and assault weapons ban, saying “I don’t line up with the NRA” and
“that’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA.”
                    • Romney called Clinton crime bill “a
                      big step forward.”
                    • As governor, Romney quadrupled gun
licensing fees and vowed not to “chip away” at tough gun laws
                    • In 2004, Romney signed permanent
state-level ban on assault weapons that was mirrored after federal assault
                      weapons ban.
                    • In January 2006, Romney said he
owned a gun – then two days later admitted he did not and the gun belonged to
                      his son.
                    • Romney bragged about being member of
the NRA but later revealed he didn’t join until August 2006, just before
                      launching his presidential campaign.
                    • Romney recently said he’s “been a
hunter pretty much all my life” but later admitted he hunted only twice in his
life, later clarifying remarks by claiming he has hunted “small varmints … more
                      than two times.”
                    • In 2006 press conference, Romney
claimed he had been hunting “many times” after returning from quail hunt in
                      Georgia.

                    In an editorial endorsing Mitt
Romney, Guns and Ammo Magazine writer Doug Howlett stated:

                    Life Under Romney

Whether you believe Romney is a true
champion of the Second Amendment or feel he’s saying what he must to get
elected, odds are if the NRA helps him win, his gratitude will be such that he
won’t do anything to upset that support throughout his term. That means it is
doubtful we will see a return to any “assault weapons” bans or other federal
legislation that will infringe upon gun rights. Without question, where gun
rights are concerned, Romney is the hands down choice.

Now there is a ringing endorsement.
What he is actually saying is that no matter what Mitt Romney actually
believes, he has received his thirty pieces of silver (actually with inflation
it is several million pieces of silver) and is now bought and paid for. He will
do whatever we tell him to do.

To be fair, President Obama has also
shifted his position on gun control over the years. As president, he has signed
legislation that permits Amtrak passengers to carry guns in their checked
baggage and another that allows visitors to national parks and wildlife refuges
to possess concealed guns. He has not pushed for actions he supported in his
2008 campaign, including closing the so-called “gun show loophole” that allows
unlicensed private firearm sellers to sell weapons at gun shows without
conducting the background checks and reporting requirements that registered gun
                    dealers must conduct.

Here is a clip from the HBO series,
Newsroom. The show is a fictional account of a TV news station, but the facts
presented here and the clips within the clip are real.

The bottom line on the gun issue is
that regardless of the outcome of the election, not much will change. The
president does not have the authority to usurp the second amendment and
Congress does not have the will to substantially change the laws.

Romney has promised that if elected,
on day one he will repeal “Obamacare.” He has also promised to do about 20
other things on day one so it should be a busy day. Of course, the health care
legislation was passed by congress and signed into law and it would take an act
of congress to repeal it so he lying again. The Supremes have upheld the
penalty on those who can afford to purchase health care insurance but choose
not to, calling it a tax. Of course, Mitt has jumped on the word “tax” and is
now claiming that Obama is imposing a new high tax on everyone. The tax only
applies to those who are able to afford insurance and choose to not buy it.
Here, let me have an expert explain it in detail, as reported on Fox News. (not
exactly a bastion of liberal views)

Mitt Romney has finally chosen a
clone er… running mate and I find the choice of Paul Ryan to be a curious one.
I don’t see an advantage in this choice as supporters of Ryan were already
firmly in Romney’s camp. It also focuses scrutiny on the Ryan budget plan, a
plan so extreme that even some conservatives find it onerous. Romney has his
own plan to benefit the one percent, but it is slightly different. Basically it
treats the middle class like a target company from his Bain days. Squeeze all
of the money out that you can and discard what is left.

                    I can understand the disappointment
people feel towards Barack Obama: I feel much of it myself. The economy has
only made modest gains and we are still in Afghanistan. At least he has
resisted attacking Iran, which I believe is in Romney’s plans. If there were a
“none of the above” option on the ballot, I believe that none would win in a
landslide, but given the reality that the real choice boils down to Obama and
Romney, the choice should be obvious. Hold your nose and do what you have to
                    do.

                    This sums it all up.

Do we really want a sociopath for President?

To me outcome of this election has more important ramifications than the economy. It is the voting rights I am more concerned with. I do not want Republicans to be able to continue their attack on the voting rights of Americans by enacting more legislation to suppress voter turnout or allow a few of the very rich to buy an election. As seen in many States, Republicans have tried everything they could to stop certain sectors of the population from voting. Also with Citizens United, we have no idea who is funding the campaigns. Is it just the super rich or also from non-Americans. Voting and being able to ensure your voice is heard is the foundation which allows our Constitution to stand. So I feel it is more important to the future of this country to not allow the tactics employed in this election to be allowed to stand.

"Requiring a picture I.D. to vote is not too much to ask."

I agree. But an ID that is acceptable at a bank, at a utility, at a library, an ID that will allow you to purchase a gun, alcohol, get on a plane, or attend a state university as an in state resident should be acceptable for voting. In states like Texas and Pennsylvania, that wasn't enough. Fortunately those laws were overturned.

Romney is going to need more than the independent voters to win the white house.

Most people can go to someplace. Say good thing. Touch people.
Hug people and give out tax money. But only a few people can make the country stronger.

How do you know what he is or what he stands for? He takes 5 different positions on a two position issue. The clown if for, against, for, for, against, against, for, against, against, for and kind of for but kind of against and I'll get back to you on that and trust me depending on who he's talking to, the time of day, the phase of the moon -- you name it. I remember every presidential election since 1952 and Romney is the biggest fraud of any candidate in those 60 years.

Republicans are codependent on Mitt Romney's lies. Independents would rather vote on issues, facts, and character. That is why they are independent in the first place
