Subscribe to RSSENGLEWOOD, CO — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney implored Colorado voters for "one final push" in his final rally Saturday, making his entreaty to the largest and most boisterous crowd of the day.
"One final push is gonna get us there. We’ve had a lot of short nights and long days and now we’re close," Romney told a crowd of more than 17,000 supporters gathered at an outdoor amphitheater. "The door to a brighter future is there – it’s open, waiting for us. I need your vote, I need your work, I need your help."
Colorado voters have turned out in large numbers for Romney at recent rallies here, and he'll need the kind of high energy he received tonight to move this state, which most polls show knotted up, back into the Republican column on Tuesday.
In his fourth and final campaign stop of the day, Romney continued to appeal primarily to independent voters with his "closing argument" stump speech, telling his assembled crowd that the president had failed to live up to his lofty promises of change, and would continue to fail to work with Republicans in Congress should be he granted a second term.
"Change can't be measured in speeches; it is measured in achievements. And four years ago, candidate Obama promised to do so very much. But he has fallen so very short," Romney said. "He promised he would be a post-partisan president, but he has been most partisan — dividing, attacking, blaming."
Romney also added a local touch to his final Colorado appearance. Retelling the tale of a Boy Scout group's flag — thought lost in the Challenger space shuttle explosion, but later recovered unharmed and returned to them — Romney invited a special guest out onstage: Maj. William Tolbert, the US Air Force officer and scoutmaster from Monument, Colorado who figures so prominently in the story, carrying the flag itself, encased in glass.
"That," said Romney as Tolbert stood beside him and the crowd cheered its approval, "is a great flag, representing the greatest nation in the history of the Earth."

Here's what the non partisan Congressional Research Service has to say about cutting taxes to increase revenue. (Summary below)
Throughout the late-1940s and 1950s, the top marginal tax rate was typically above 90%; today it is 35%. Additionally, the top capital gains tax rate was 25% in the 1950s and 1960s, 35% in the 1970s; today it is 15%. The real GDP growth rate averaged 4.2% and real per capita GDP increased annually by 2.4% in the 1950s. In the 2000s, the average real GDP growth rate was 1.7% and real per capita GDP increased annually by less than 1%.
There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.
The share of income accruing to the top 0.1% of U.S. families increased from 4.2% in 1945 to 12.3% by 2007 before falling to 9.2% due to the 2007-2009 recession. The evidence does not suggest necessarily a relationship between tax policy with regard to the top tax rates and the size of the economic pie, but there may be a relationship to how the economic pie is sliced.
Romney's whole economic platform is refuted by these findings, there is no way his tax cuts will bring the economy back. Senator Mitch McConnell (R) blocked the release of the Report. It surfaced again in the Nov 1 2012 New York Times.

Millions of good Americans will not go without health care under this administration, many of them are Republicans; That's leadership at its finest! Keep it Simple! Here are the past four years of Obama's accomplishments:
1. Refusing to come to the aid of our Ambassador and Associate Americans.
2. Complete display of ignorance or willful refusal to accept any responsibility for the deaths of four Americans.
3. Commander in Chief with not a clue as to what happened in Benghazi while the murderers hide in place sight and ridicule our country and its impotency. That is, if you want believe Obama's revolving and evolving explanations.
4. Record deficits to the tune of over one trillion per year.
5. Record number of unemployed Americans.
6. Record number of food stamp recipients.
7. Record number of welfare recipients.
8. Record amounts of spending on welfare.
9. Lower and lower numbers of work force participants.
10. A failing administration in regards to foreign policy - Al-Qaida is now in Libya, Mali, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. In 2009, basically in 2-3 countries, now in approximately thirty countries.
11. Poverty at the highest level since the sixties.
12. Reduced wages - only the 5th time in the past thirty-three years.
13. Record number of citizens on disability due to no unemployment benefits.
14. Adding three dollars of debt for every dollar added to the economy.
15. Two credit Agency downgrades.
16. First President to ever complete a term without one single budget being approved.
17. First President to have experienced actual "evolution" while in office.
18. Increased gas prices to nearly double what they were when elected.
19. Added 11,327 pages of new business regulations in less than a full term.
20. Three consecutive years of GDP lower than the previous year.
This is certainly a "Record Breaking President" and that is just for starters.

The stat you cannot refute is the 32 STRAIGHT months of job growth (5.5 million private sector jobs) after he stopped the recession. The debt was largely racked up by GWBush...or do we stop paying for that stuff after we change Presidents.

If you make or have a household income greater than $250,000 dollars a year, then you will most likely vote for Romney. You are classified as upperclass. You probably do not want to see the Bush tax cuts expire so that you can continue to reap the benefits of higher wages. You're probably a business owner who doesn't want to deal with the effects of Obamacare. You also could be a healthcare worker such as a physician where Obamacare is cutting into your profits and forcing you to consider becoming a member of a "medical group" partnering with other physicians or totally leaving your practice. You could be a rich athlete or actress who once again, does not want to feel the effects of the Bush tax cuts expiring. You could be a Wall Street Banker who does not agree with bank regulations and feels entitled to bail outs when they make bad corporate decisions behind doors that cost 100's or thousands of American jobs. If this applies to you, then you are the typical Republican who will blindly vote for Romney out of self interest. There are no undecided voters in this category.
If you make less than $250,000 a year, then you are either a member of the working poor, struggling middle class or upper middle class. If you are the working poor or struggling middle class, your wages are just barely making ends meet. You may even be unemployed and between jobs. You can barely afford healthcare costs with rising premiums and employee deductions. That is assuming that you even have healthcare coverage. You don't know or understand the American dream because it feels out of reach. If you are from Youngstown, Akron, Cleveland or the Rust belt in general then you have seen the steady decline of manufacturing in Ohio. You know what it is like to stand outside of that factory with a picket sign with your fellow union members to protest unfair wages or even deficient healthcare coverage. You understand what it is like to struggle and watch Corporate America leave tire tracks on the backs of your families in pursuit of higher profits. You know what it is like to suddenly lose your job or see your entire department downsized or moved offshore to India. These folks, like the great people who live and work hard in the Cleveland area, know the heartbreaking feeling of seeing the house next door to them suddenly go from "SOLD" to "Foreclosed". This sect of people will strongly vote for Obama. The upper middle class are your TRUE undecided voters. They are generally well off. They want to increase their earning potential and career ceiling. They are typically only a promotion away from being considered upper class. Their voting decision will mainly come down to compassion and empathy. Did they step on others to get ahead? Or did they work hard like a Youngstown steel worker to get to the top. Those upper middle class men that understand the struggle will likely sway toward Obama. Those who advanced through corporate politics will likely swing toward Romney.
What is the point here? It's class warfare folks. Our country is divided socioeconomically by greed and race relations. I am on the ground here in Ohio and people in this state are descending into poverty at a rapid rate. I think we can say this about most of America. The employment landscape in this country has changed. This is a battle between the haves and have nots. People in Ohio are very angry from my experiences. My prediction is that most of Northern Ohio will go to Obama and a large portion of Southern Ohio will go to Romney. Obama winning Ohio will largely depend upon how he has connected with those struggling in Toledo, Akron, Cleveland and Youngstown. People are really hurting in those cities. Cincinnati will mostly go to Romney, Dayton will go to Obama and a Columbus will be split. My prediction is that Obama will pull Ohio, but only by a slim margin. He will also dominate most of the Rust Belt states. The Rust belt along with California and a few other states should seal it for Obama. The Rust Belt was the heart of this country before the 1930's and neglecting this area would be election era political suicide.

The recession is not Bush's fault...Clinton(Pres type) pushed for people regardless of income to be able to purchase a home, that is what led to the sub prime lending deal, Bush in 2001 told Frank and co to better regulate Freddie and Fannie, to which Frank said no...So when the bubble burst on the housing market, everything else went with it...so before you spout off next time,,,check your facts then say something..

Bush did not drop the ball in Louisiana, Nagin and Blanco did by not declaring a state of emergency until well after the storm. If Bush had exceeded his authority by sending federal aid before it was requested, democrats would have lambasted him for that as well. Heck, they were even blaming Bush for the levee failures, saying that he had blown them up, even though he had absolutely nothing to do with them.
As to what caused the failures of the levee system - the rampant corruption and lack of working together of the various levee boards, controlled by democrats by the way, resulted in levees that were not built the the engineered specifications. Oh, and those levee boards still refuse to work together today.
You may wonder if this is true and how I know so much about it... I live in the area and was back at home 4 days after the storm. If you really want to know what happened check out the Times-Picayune reporting of the time or the local TV stations archives.
Were errors made? Yes, some of them were even made by Bush. However, lessons were learned as a result of Katrina and not ignored. That is a commentary on an administration that is willing to accept the blame for what they did wrong, learn what they did wrong, and implement meaningful change to try to keep the same problems from happening again.
When is Obama going to accept the blame for what he has done wrong?

I polled approximately 40 young people for the poorest area
of my community. The demographic was 40%
black, 30% Hispanic, and 30% white.
On October 5, 2012 the results of the poll were 33 votes for Obama and 11 votes
for Romney. Obama led by 75%.
I polled the same individuals on November 2, 2012 and things
had changed. Votes for Obama were 22, votes for Romney were 18.
Obama led by only 55%. That is a 20% drop in Obama
support from those who are his biggest advocates. Four years ago I conducted a similar poll and
it showed Obama support right before the election at 85%. This election will not be a repeat of 2008.

Let me get this straight....you are basing your calculation of a national election not on the 22 swing state polls that came out on Friday (Obama winning 19, 2 tied, 1 Romney) but on 40 people you asked in your neighborhood?
The level of Democratic early voting is up over 20% from 2008 nationally....
Enthuasism is on Romney's side. These young people and their family and friends are disillusioned with Obama. I know that my neighborhood may not reflect the whole nation but it was right in 2008 showing Obama with large margins. Remember every early vote for Obama is one less he will get on November 6.

Romney IS worse than Bush. Even Bush himself would not have extended his tax cuts after they expired. Bush's reason for giving the tax cuts in the first place was because there was a surplus, the economy was strong. Now the republicans want to keep extending them because times are tough and we must help the "job creators." Does the word "duh" mean anything to you righties?

You can drop the corporate tax rate to zero and it will not make one bit of difference. The advantage of paying $1 per hour instead of a living wage of $20 per hour remains exactly the same.
