Commenting on unemployment in the US, Romney asked if we afford four more years of Obama. That is an interesting question. Obama inherited a train wreck and times have been hard. Hi Earl. I am happy to see that we are putting some of the more hyperbolic claims to bed here. So much of the GOP campaign against Obama is fueled by just such over the top, Gen-Beckian fear-mongering and hysterics which are nakedly untrue. Obama isn't Hitler, he isn't a Socialist, Marxist, Communist, Maoist Anti-Christ boogy-man who is plotting to put all of the conservative talk-show radio hosts in concentration camps, or any of that tin-foil-hatted guff.

No, Obama has been a mediocre President trying to deal with difficult issues. He has had some successes, some failures, and a great deal of pain. Say what you will about Obama, I think we dodged a real bullet in John McCain. Be that as it may, that is old news.

The real question is, would Romney be better in the job today? Not that I can see, given how craven Romney has been. The man is shiftier than a shifter shifting shifts. Who knows WHAT he might do in office? At least Obama is a known actor. A vote for him is at worst a punt to 2016, when better options may be available on both sides. That's how I see it. And we can't afford to give Romney the opportunity to continue Bush's drive to pack the Supreme Court with Religious Right ideologues. Obama may make it safe to vote Republican again. Failing that, at worst he would maintain the status-quo by selecting moderate Justices, marginally acceptable to both sides, as he did with his previous two picks. So, yeah, Obama gets my vote.

Well the Jobs report for Sept was "revised" downward to 88 thousand jobs so you might want to change that..

Blade, the claim that Obama 'lied to the world' about Benghazi is a pretty serious charge, one that needs to be demonstrated rather than nakedly asserted. Do you have anything beyond your own ugly suspicions to back up your claim that Obama knew the day after the attack that terrorists were to blame? I suspect you have been watching way too much Faux News, which isn't exactly friends with the truth where Obama is concerned. They have spent every day of the past four years trying to manufacture scandals from tripe, but all they have done is ruined their own credibility. (Anyone remember how they can with the claim, unchecked, that Obama's trip to India was costing 20 billion dollars a day? How they tried to manufacture, not one, but TWO October Surprises, including one on the day of the first Presidential Debate? I could go on, but you get the drift.)

And you should really drop all of the nutty Birther, secret-Muslim nonsense. It doesn't do your credibility any good. It just places you in the same fruit-farm as Trump and Beck. Not even Romney uses that stuff, and he is trying to win the White House!

Ok, three points.

First, if you check the transcript of the second debate (or watch the video!!), Obama did not claim he knew a terrorist group was behind the attack. He stated that he USED THE WORD 'terror' in the Rose Garden, which indeed he did. "No acts of terror" were his exact words. Romney got on the wrong side of a silly quibble over the word used in the Rose Garden. He lost focus on his larger point (and he did have a point), and botched it so badly that he handed Obama one of the biggest scores of the night.

Second, your rant confuses data with understanding. In any chaotic situation with an overload of data, it takes time for the information to soak in, to make sense of it, and figure out what the data means in the larger context. If you are attributing an instant and all-encompassing understanding of, not just an emergency situation, but what the situation means in the larger picture, you must think being elected President confers one with some sort of god status. It takes time, days, weeks, or sometimes even months, to gain an accurate understanding of a big picture. So the claim that he knew the situation the very next day is just so much out-of-touch bluster.

Finally, Obama did not 'just sit there and watch them die'. That is a lie.
As discussed on NPR yesterday, an elite military emergency intervention team (which is on standby 24-7 from a military base in California, if my memory serves) was scrambled in response to the attack, but it takes time to travel from point A to point B, and by the time they made it to the region, the attack was over and the Americans were dead. The team's orders were then updated; and they were sent back to their home base. Your claim that Obama did nothing is simply a slanderous lie. Please note that I am not accusing you of lying. I am saying that someone who is seeking to exploit the deaths of four Americans for political gain has lied to you. It is despicable. They have not given you the fair and balanced picture. There is much they have not reported, so how can you decide?

Bottom line, the claim that Obama lied about this is not a supportable claim that seeks to be fair with the President or to those involved. It is an accusation based on a desire to think the absolute worst of our President and to make political hay. Nothing more. Personally, I think it is significant that not even Romney accuses Obama of lying in this regard. If anything, he accuses Obama of the exact opposite, of being clueless when he 'should' have known. But what do you expect from the GOP. For them, Obama is damned if he did and damned if he don't.

Re: Ben Laden:

You have to give credit where credit is due. John McCain tipped his hat to Obama over the killing of Ben Laden, so did Mitt Romney. Obama can be forgiven a little chest-thumping. He deserves a lot of credit for Ben Laden's death, is running for re-election and has things to brag about.

The fact is that going after Ben Laden was a gutsy call. Obama said that if they ever had a chance to go after him, they would, even if it meant violating the sovereignty of another country (and he was roundly criticized at the time for saying it, INCLUDING by Romney who said he would not move heaven and earth to get the guy); and this is exactly what Obama did.

The decision to send Seal Team 6 in after him was also a very gutsy call. They could have dropped a smart bomb on the complex with no risk to our troops. Yet Obama wanted Ben Laden's BODY so there would be no questions about his being dead. Those troops stormed the compound, lost one helicopter, KILLED Ben Laden, and captured his body and a TON of intel.

Can you imagine the Faux News and GOP blow-back if two stealth choppers had been shot down and all of our men killed? Give it up. THAT was a gutsy call!!

Finally, the decision to bury the body with the fishes was pure brilliance! Just imagine if that compound had become a martyr's Mecca for terrorists??

Give it up. Obama got Ben Laden and deserves a lot of credit for that guy being dead.
