ARVADA, Colo. -- Ka-zing.
Three days before the election, Vice President Joe Biden pegged his newest critique of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to the semi-annual inconvenience of adjusting clocks for Daylight Savings Time, which occurs tonight.
"It’s Mitt Romney’s favorite time of the year -- because he gets to turn the clock back!" Biden told a crowd of hundreds at a suburban Denver high school.
In his remarks, the vice president accused Romney of embracing social policies out of an earlier era, pointedly noting the GOP nominee's voiced enthusiasm for "getting rid of" Planned Parenthood.
"With all the issues facing the country, Gov. Romney has focused on for the last three months [that] he's going to get rid of Planned Parenthood" Biden said. "And by the way, he doesn't even know he doesn't control Planned Parenthood."
"He should talk to Big Bird!" he added, referencing the scuffle over public broadcasting funding that broke out during one of the presidential debates.
(In context, Romney said last spring he was going to "get rid" of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, not get rid of the entity itself.)
Biden has two events scheduled in swing state Colorado Saturday. He will campaign Sunday in Ohio.

Mcpaddywacl - Yes, we women do like the right of choice over our own bodies. Why would we want a bunch of old men telling us what to do? They don't carry the baby nine months, bear the child, then care of it for 18 to 22 years. They don't risk their health to bear a child. Half the time they split and don't support the child. Are these old farts that want to abolish Planned Parenthood and abortion going to raise the unwanted babies? I'll bet not. If they bore the children, it would be a different story. It's about controlling women and it's a slippery slope. What's next? Will we be forced to wear burkas. Who else are they going to discrimminate against? Blacks, gays, latinos, redheads, short men. Who will be targeted next. Can you imagine they even propose to start an entire agency to make pregnant women have intravaginal ultrasonic probes. Spot on except Obama should move to North Korea, not France. For some reason he thinks that everyone in America doesn't have a fair shot. Our forefathers figured that out almost 300 years ago. We can't promise equal outcome but we all have a shot. If Obama wants to really help out he can head over to North Korea and figure it out for those poor sods. Of course the 50k vacations and celebrity TV appearances may be in short supply...

I think it’s time for the citizens of our country to understand what the upcoming elections are really about, and what is really at stake if we make the wrong decision in whom we choose to be our president for the next four years.
The Right for four decades now, has been working overtime to try and create a country that if successful would eventually eliminate the middle-class, and would leave us with a two-class society of what the Right calls’ Creators (1%) and those despicable Parasites (99%). The Right has been attempting to establish a laissez-faire type of Capitalism in our country. Which is characterized by free market fundamentalism, where consumers, workers, and families are left on their own, and businesses do whatever they want, with little or no role for government. But, there are a few problems with their type of Capitalism that the Right neglects to tell you or just doesn’t want you to know, and like any thing that sounds too good to be true, usually is too good to be true, and that is the case with the Rights version of Capitalism, and to be realistic about it, it could only work in a truly perfect world, and besides our world is far from being perfect. In addition, there are two major flaws that come with the type of Capitalism the Right wants to bestow upon us, corruption is one, and which would undoubtedly run rampant, and then there is the built-in flaw that Capitalism is based on, and which is, destroying the competition. Capitalism’s built-in flaw is always geared to destroy its competition, and when that inevitably occurs Capitalism fails, and a sure sign that Capitalism is failing are the establishment of monopolies. Once the competition has been destroyed, and Monopolies have taken over consumers lose their freedom of choice. Monopolies have virtually no competition and can dictate prices to their consumers unless they are restricted by regulators. The consumer either has to pay the price demanded by the monopoly or not receive that good/service. And, with the arrival of Monopolies the ugly world of collusion makes itself present. And, then you consider that from the onset of George W. Bush’s presidency he conveniently started replacing the people who oversaw the regulatory commissions with people that had previously worked for the very industries that they were now going to regulate, which could be considered as leaving the foxes to guard the hen houses! Then you throw in the Right’s failed trickle down economics, and all of that combine is what has brought about the failed capitalism we are now witnessing. What the Right has deliberately done, is that they have taken a reasonably regulated free enterprise system with a balanced economy that could have been globally competitive for decades. At one time our country consisted of a wealthy class, a thriving middle class, and a not so poor, poor class, and by the Right trying to turn our reasonably regulated free enterprise system of Capitalism into their version of Capitalism has endangered the middle-class to the point of extinction! And, has also left our country in jeopardy of becoming a Plutocracy!
What the Right doesn't realize or does and just doesn’t care, is that we had a unique system that was a perfect blend of Capitalism and Socialism that helped safeguard us from extreme downturns, and also helped make recoveries from any downturns much easier to recover from. Our system was structured in a way that actually helped maintain capitalism’s survival by keeping its fatal flaws in check, and contrary to what the Right believes Capitalism cannot survive without government along with its regulations. And, this is the type of capitalism that helped make our country the most successful and revered country to ever have existed! Yet, it happens to be the Capitalistic system that the Right has so blatantly been attempting to destroy! But, we still do have time to save this great system that helped created our great society and country by reelecting President Obama, and bringing back this unique system of Capitalism where society sets the rules and standards of commerce, regarding matters like protecting consumers, employees and the environment from irresponsible business practices, such as excessive pollution, risky oil drilling, predatory and reckless bank lending, unsafe workplaces, food, medicine, cars, and airplanes, minimum wages, and discrimination by race and gender. Along with restoring the American Dream or we can continue on the course the Right wants to take us, where our society consists of only Creators (1%) and the despicable Parasites (99%).
It’s your choice, folk’s, so choose wisely, because your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are depending on you to make the right decision!
So the crushing debt that the empty chair is piling up just to buy votes with won't be a problem for our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 20 trillion dollars will turn this country into a third world debtor nation and future generation will never get out from under it, and don't start the Bush did it first bs. I wasn't a fan of Bush either.

I would suggest you read my post. I don't care who is responsible the fact is the debt is going to KILL our economy and standard of living and the empty chair has shown he is NOT capable of dealing with it.

There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.
The share of income accruing to the top 0.1% of U.S. families increased from 4.2% in 1945 to 12.3% by 2007 before falling to 9.2% due to the 2007-2009 recession. The evidence does not suggest necessarily a relationship between tax policy with regard to the top tax rates and the size of the economic pie, but there may be a relationship to how the economic pie is sliced.

That if the flaws of pure capitalism were not kept in check and regulated then it would collapse under it's own operating principles. We did that through a blend of economic systems, and it worked.

D.Mack - I understand that the only way Romney got legislation through was to ally himself with Ted Kennedy. Romney was at odds with his Democratic Congress during his entire term. He wasn't a popular governor. Nonetheless, the people from Massachussetts I've talked to are thrilled with their Romneycare.
