Polls: Obama stays ahead in Ohio, deadlocked with Romney in Fla.

President Barack Obama gives a thumbs up as he participates in a campaign rally in Lima, Ohio, Nov. 2, 2012.

Three days until Election Day, President Barack Obama maintains his lead in the key battleground state of Ohio and is locked in a close contest with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in Florida, according to new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

In Ohio, Obama holds a six-point advantage over Romney among likely voters, 51 percent to 45 percent, which is unchanged from last month’s poll in the Buckeye State.

Read the Ohio poll here

And in Florida, the president gets support from 49 percent of likely voters, while his GOP challenger gets 47 percent. Those numbers are virtually identical to the ones from October, when it was Obama 48 percent, Romney 47 percent.

Both states are two of the biggest prizes in Tuesday’s presidential contest. An Obama victory in Ohio, which awards 18 electoral votes, would put him tantalizingly close to getting to the 270 electoral votes needed to win a second term.

President Barack Obama campaigns in Lima, Ohio as he rallies supporters in key states just before the election.

But an Obama loss in the Buckeye State – and a Romney win – would place a hole in the president’s Midwest firewall.

Meanwhile, Florida, which awards 29 electoral votes, is a must-win state for Romney. A Republican loss there would push Obama past 270 electoral votes – even if the president lost every other battleground state in NBC’s current map.

Obama ahead with early voters
As with the recent NBC/WSJ/Marist polls of Iowa and Wisconsin, Obama is benefitting from early voters in Ohio and Florida.

Read the Florida poll here

In the Sunshine State, 63 percent say they have already voted or plan to do so before Election Day, and Obama is winning them, 53 percent to 46 percent. But Romney is ahead among Election Day voters in Florida, 52 percent to 40 percent.

In Ohio, 35 percent say they have already voted or plan to do so, and Obama is leading them, 62 percent to 36 percent. Yet Romney is up among Election Day voters in the Buckeye State, 52 percent to 42 percent.

Strong approval for the president’s handling of Sandy
The polls were conducted after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, and seven in 10 likely voters in Florida and Ohio approve of the president’s job in handling the hurricane and its aftermath.

“The response was overwhelmingly positive, and that was occurring across party lines,” says Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.

On handling the economy
Meanwhile, Romney has a slight advantage over Obama in Florida when it comes to which candidate would better handle the economy – 48 percent pick Romney and 46 percent back Obama.

GOP candidate Mitt Romney speaks to supporters in Chester, Ohio as he campaigns in key swing states ahead of the election.

But those numbers are reversed in Ohio, where 48 percent believe Obama would better handle the economy and 46 percent side with Romney.

On party ID
In these surveys, Democrats enjoy a nine-point party-identification advantage in Ohio and a two-point edge in Florida. Republicans have argued that a nine-point advantage is too large in this current political environment; it was eight points in the Buckeye State during Obama’s decisive 2008 victory.

If you cut that party ID advantage in half, Obama’s six-point lead in Ohio is reduced to three points.

Other numbers in the poll
Obama’s job-approval rating among likely voters stands at 48 percent in Florida and 50 percent in Ohio.

In the final push in the 2012 presidential election, candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama make their last appeals to voters.

In Ohio’s Senate contest, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown leads Republican Josh Mandel by five points among likely voters, 50 percent to 45 percent.

And in Florida’s Senate contest, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson leads Republican Connie Mack by nine, 52 percent to 43 percent.

The NBC/WSJ/Marist poll of Florida was conducted Oct. 30-Nov. 1 of 1,545 likely voters, and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 2.5 percentage points.

And the survey of Ohio was conducted Oct. 31-Nov.1 of 971 likely voters, and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.

People should be reminded that capitalism, not re-distribution, is what makes living standards high. And companies seeking profits, not the government, is what gives us great products – like i-phones and i-pads, for example – and create jobs along the way.The only way to overcome someone's hate towards capitalism is to nationalize private businesses and install socialism. That is what the USSR, China, Cuba and others once did. It can happen in America too.

Bin Laden killing . Obama can be praised for ordering it. But he only “pushed the button” on it. The whole project was in preparation for 10 years and most of it was Bush’s era work, including water-boarding. Obama likes to blame Bush legacy. How about praising this part of that? What will Obama legacy be in this area after he stopped water boarding and renditions? Bill Clinton was weak on intelligence /defense and that contributed to 9/11. You cannot fight the vicious and determined enemy in white gloves.

Benghazi. Here unlike with Bin Laden, Obama was fully responsible. Four Americans were killed not receiving help for seven hours due to incompetence in Washington. For weeks after that diplomatic and public relations cover-up followed meant to deflect the blame and keep the re-election going. The military and military veterans vote against Obama 2:1.

All these right wing nutjobs just want everyone to act as if we didn't just go through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. The majority of the jobs lost during Obama's first year on the job were attributable to the absolute mess of an economy that George W. Bush left behind. Since O's policies have kicked in private sector jobs have been coming. 33 straight months now. He saved the auto industry and ended the Iraq war like he said he would. He said he'd pass health care reform and he did. He is getting us out of Afghanistan and the economy is slowly but surely turning around. Obama knows what he's trying to achieve but the GOP won't work with him so they can then call him partisan. The choice sees simple enough, Obama and his steady leadership and vision or the flip flopping Romney who once believed in the same policies as Obama but has now turned himself into George W. Bush. Easy choice. Go Obama.

You are so right, go Obama. People permanent jobs never came back....but the good new is at least they can now flip hamburger part time or work in retail during the holiday seasons. That is the "CHANGE" he promised and he really keeps it.

Polls, Polls, Polls, worked a phone bank most of the day calling undecided Nev. voters on behalf of President Obama. Made 200+ phone calls, did not have one Romney supporter of those that ansewered the phone. Most said they early voted for President Obama. may be unscientific. But Zero Romney supporters in my call list, Sounds like Obama in Nev. to me.

WASHINGTON — Security officers from the C.I.A. played a pivotal role in combating militants who attacked the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, deploying a rescue party from a secret base in the city, sending reinforcements from Tripoli, and organizing an armed Libyan military convoy to escort the surviving Americans to hastily chartered planes that whisked them out of the country, senior intelligence officials said Thursday.

                    • Timeline of Events Surrounding Libya Rescue Effort (November 1, 2012)

The account given by the senior officials, who did not want to be identified, provided the most detailed description to date of the C.I.A.’s role in Benghazi, a covert presence that appears to have been much more significant than publicly disclosed.

Within 25 minutes of being alerted to the attack against the diplomatic mission, half a dozen C.I.A. officers raced there from their base about a mile away, enlisting the help of a handful of Libyan militia fighters as they went. Arriving at the mission about 25 minutes after that, the C.I.A. officers joined State Department security agents in a futile search through heavy smoke and enemy fire for Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens before evacuating the mission’s personnel to the apparent safety of their base, which American officials have called an annex to the mission. Mr. Stevens was one of four Americans killed in the attack.

A four-hour lull in the fighting beginning shortly after midnight seemed to suggest that the worst was over. An unarmed military drone that the C.I.A. took control of to map possible escape routes relayed reassuring images to Tripoli and Washington. But just before dawn, and soon after a C.I.A.-led team of reinforcements, including two military commandos, arrived from Tripoli, a brief but deadly mortar attack surprised the Americans. Two of the C.I.A. security officers who were defending the base from a rooftop were killed.

“The officers on the ground in Benghazi responded to the situation on the night of 11 and 12 September as quickly and as effectively as possible,” one of the senior intelligence officials told reporters.

Thursday’s briefing for reporters was intended to refute reports, including one by Fox News last Friday, that the C.I.A.’s chain of command had blocked the officers on the ground from responding to the mission’s calls for help.

“There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of continuing investigations by the State Department and the F.B.I.

At a time when the circumstances surrounding the attack on the Benghazi compound have emerged as a major political issue, with Republicans criticizing the Obama administration’s handling of the episode, the senior official also sought to rebut reports that C.I.A. requests for support from the Pentagon that night had gone unheeded.

In fact, the official said, the military diverted a Predator drone from a reconnaissance mission in Darnah, 90 miles away, in time to oversee the mission’s evacuation. The two commandos, based at the embassy in Tripoli, joined the reinforcements. And a military transport plane flew the wounded Americans and Mr. Stevens’s body out of Libya.

Despite the new details, many questions surrounding the attack remain unanswered, including why the State Department did not increase security at the mission amid a stream of diplomatic and intelligence reports that indicated that the security situation in Benghazi and around Libya had deteriorated sharply since the United States reopened its embassy in Tripoli last year.

By underscoring the C.I.A.’s previously unpublicized role in mobilizing the evacuation effort, the officials seemed to be implicitly questioning the State Department’s security arrangements in Benghazi, a focus of three Congressional inquiries into the attack on the mission.

The senior officials also shed new light on the C.I.A.’s role in Libya.

Within months of the start of the Libyan revolution in February 2011, the agency began building a meaningful but covert presence in Benghazi, a locus of the rebel efforts to oust the government of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi.

The C.I.A.’s surveillance targets in Benghazi and eastern Libya included Ansar al-Shariah, a militia that some have blamed for the attack on the mission, as well as suspected members of Al Qaeda’s affiliate in North Africa, known as Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

American intelligence operatives also helped State Department contractors and Libyan officials in tracking shoulder-fired missiles taken from the former Libyan Army arsenals, American officials said. The C.I.A.’s security officers played a new role on Sept. 11, carrying out an informal agreement with the mission to come to its aid in an emergency. One of the senior intelligence officials provided an hour-by-hour chronology of the agency’s role during the attack.

Around 9:40 p.m. local time, the C.I.A. base received the first of several calls from the mission saying it was under attack. During the 25 minutes between the first call and when the officers rolled out the door, half a dozen security officers were readying their gear and weapons, while the base chief called several Libyan militias, seeking fighters with heavy weaponry to defend the mission. His appeals failed.

Over the next 25 minutes, C.I.A. officers approached the walled diplomatic compound, tried to secure heavy weapons, and made their way onto the compound itself in the face of enemy fire.

At 11:11 p.m., the Predator drone arrived over the mission compound. Within 20 minutes, all United States personnel, except for Mr. Stevens, whom the American security officers could not find in the chaos, left the mission, coming under fire as they did.

The Americans retreated safely to the C.I.A. annex, where over the next 90 minutes they came under sporadic small-arms fire and rocket-propelled-grenade attacks. The State Department and C.I.A. officers returned fire and the assailants melted away.

About this same time, the reinforcements arrived at the Benghazi airport from Tripoli. Learning that the attacks at the annex had stopped, the team turned its attention to finding Mr. Stevens. But learning that he was at a Benghazi hospital, almost certainly dead, and that the security situation at the hospital was uncertain, the reinforcements headed to the annex.

They arrived shortly after 5 a.m., just before mortar rounds began to hit the annex. That attack, 11 minutes long, killed two men, whom the senior intelligence officials identified for the first time Thursday as C.I.A. security officers, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty, former members of the Navy SEALs. Until now the men had been publicly identified as State Department contract security officers.

Less than an hour later, a convoy of 50 heavily armed trucks from Libyan military intelligence arrived to help evacuate all American personnel from the annex to the Benghazi airport.

                      Here ABC News reported that:

"Intelligence officials have disclosed a new detailed timeline of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, acknowledging the CIA played a greater role in responding to the attack than has previously been disclosed. A senior U.S. intelligence official also insisted that the CIA security team that initially responded to the attack was not given orders “to stand down in providing support,” as had been suggested in media reports.

The timeline provided by a senior U.S. intelligence official gives the first precise account of how CIA security teams provided the first response to the Sept. 11 attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi"

The official says there was “no second guessing” of those on the ground in Libya by senior officials either in Libya or Washington.

“There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support,” said the official. The official’s comments appeared to be a direct rebuttal of a Fox News report that CIA teams on the ground had been told by superior officers to “stand down” from providing security support to the consulate.

"According to the official, upon learning of the attack at the consulate, the security team at the annex responded “as quickly and effectively as possible.” The official described how the security team tried to rally additional support from local Libyan forces and heavier weapons, but that when that could not be accomplished “within minutes” they moved out to the compound. The official called the security team “genuine heroes” who risked their lives to save those at the compound"

                                Reply#1435 - Mon Nov 5, 2012 12:34 AM EST

Here we go I found this piece called:

"Mitt Romney by the Numbers" by Jon Perr

For years, Mitt Romney has been telling Americans "I love data." As he bragged to the Wall Street Journal:

"I used to call it 'wallowing in the data.' Let me see the data. I want to see the client's data, the competitors' data. I want to see all the data."

But the man who would be America's 45th president doesn't want voters to see any of his. In early 2007, the Massachusetts governor's aides scrubbed his administration's computer records as he was heading out the door in Boston. Determined to avoid becoming the poster boy for gaming the IRS, Romney's tax returns remain a mystery because, as he put it, "I don't put out which tooth paste I use either." As for own tax plan, Romney boasts that "it can't be scored" because the "details will have to be worked out with Congress." As for which tax breaks he would end to offset the $5 trillion in revenue his tax cut scheme would drain from the U.S. Treasury, Mitt Romney won't name a single one in public. Otherwise, he told the Wall Street Journal last year, "you're gonna get hit by the demagogues in the general election."

But what Mitt Romney calls demagogues, most Americans call "voters." And despite Romney's perpetual--and perpetually cynical--efforts to keep his data secret, on the eve of the 2012 election there are some things we do know. Here, then, is Mitt Romney by the numbers.

$45,000,000. How much of his own money Mitt Romney spent during his failed 2008 bid for the White House, prompting son Matt to declare, "I don't ever expect to see any of that anyways."

$80,000,000. Estimated amount the Romney heirs will inherit if their father becomes president and succeeds in eliminating the estate tax.

$100,000,000. Estimated value of Romney's tax-free trust fund for his five sons.

$10,000,000. Amount the Romneys' blind trust invested in son Tagg's private equity firm, Solamere Capital, supporting Mitt's advice to college students to "borrow money if you have to from your parents, start a business."

                                0. Number of Ann and Mitt Romney's five sons who served in the military, men their father said in 2007 instead "are showing support for our nation [by] helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president."

5.5. Number of years Mitt Romney received deferments from military service in Vietnam to pursue his college studies and church mission in France.

1963. The year Mitt Romney's "dear, close relative" Ann Keenan died as the result of an illegal abortion, prompting Mitt in 1994 to declare his "unwavering" support for Roe v. Wade.

                                0. The number of exceptions to the abortion ban called for by the so-called Human Life Amendment endorsed by the 2012 Republican Platform and state "personhood" initiatives Romney supports.

                                3. The number of Tagg Romney's children resulting from in vitro fertilization, a procedure which would likely be illegal under state "personhood" initiatives his father supports.

Romney seems so rehearsed he doesn't seem real. He is like a robot always commenting about what President Obama has not done. Please tell us Mitt what are you going to do. The first thing he will cut will be education and social programs just as all republicans have done in the past. It amazing that people who can afford health insurance and those who have free health insurance are the only ones that want the Health Care Bill repealed. Health insurance is going up because insurance companies will have to insure the sick not just the healthy people they have insured in the past. They are trying to make up for the billions they are going to loose because they just can't insure healthy people and make billions in profits. Insurance companies have the republicans in their pockets that why they are working so hard to elect Mitt.

Yes , show us your numbers Romney where are they, here are a few:

$150. Value of the check Ann Romney wrote to Planned Parenthood during a 1994 fundraiser she and her husband attended, which when publicly revealed in 2007 led GOP White House hopeful Mitt Romney to claim "her positions are not terribly relevant for my campaign."

$0. Amount of federal funding President Romney would provide to Planned Parenthood and the entire Title X program for women's health.

72,000,000. Estimated number of people in America without health insurance if President Romney succeeds in repealing Obamacare and cutting Medicaid spending by over a third and giving what remains as block grants to the states.

                                    27. Percentage of Texas residents without health insurance.

$4.1 billion. Total amount saved by 5.4 million American seniors as a result of Obamacare's closing of the Medicare prescription drug "donut hole," which would be reopened by Mitt Romney.

$716 billion. Ten-year amount Mitt Romney wrongly says President Obama "raided from Medicare," funds actually used to help expand benefits and extend life of the program's Trust Fund.

$716 billion. Ten-year amount taken from Medicare by Paul Ryan's House GOP budget to help fund a new tax cut windfall for the wealthy.

$10,000. Amount Mitt Romney bet Rick Perry that he had not called Massachusetts health care reform a model for the nation in his book, No Apology.

The only time and place to find out who the real Mitt Romney is has come from conversations were he didn't know it was being recorded.

If the election results are substantially different than what the alphabet national networks have been telling us, then we know Obama has promised change and delivered to us a socialist-totalitarian police state where the media and journalists are under the complete control and financing of the White House. We'll know this one way or the other on Tuesday. It's one of the most important "dots" for us to connect.

I already have a plan that adapt to whoever will win this election. If Obama will win,the next step for me is to quit my job. I will see a psychiatrist or any doctor to declare me disable. Then I will move to probably East LA or near any large Hispanic community. I would apply for free housing, medicaid, foodstamp, and welfare. I will make sure to have at least 3-5 kids in order to get more "supplemental" income without having to work. My life is made. If Romney will win, I will have to continue to work in order to have medical insurance coverage until I am 65. That seems to be a very long time.

If Romney wins you can become a banker and gamble with all the money and be saved by a taxpayer bailout, or work for a vulture capitalist company ship jobs overseas and make a profit, or start a non profit and your an executive and have it pay you a hefty sum to just count money, or any other of a few scams to rip off taxpayers.

That is so sad, because I know a lot of bankers who are democrats.

I think to solve all the problems, we need to copy the old China and start a Communist party only country. Then every one on the top will be rich and corrupted, the rest of us are equally poor. We will have free medical care and free education for every one. If we don't adapt we die. If we voice our opinion, we will be sent to labor camp. No welfare or food stamp for any one, if you don't work, you don't eat. Your properties will become people property but under the control of the state. If a city or county has too many "trouble makers", let flood or dry the whole area up. Where ever you live, you have to register with the local government so they can monitor your moves...neighbors or even your children can report you to the government if you have any suspicious activities or you don't live with in your means. Any one like this system? I don't.

To me, democrat or republican is the same. Look at your politicians in the Senate or the House see how many of them are millionaires. The followers are either blind because of believing in something I can't see or have some kind of personal gains. After those politicians are done with their terms they making at least few time more than they were before. That is why they want to be in politic: power and money. Do they care for us: NO. Do they buy our vote: YES. I don't care who will be in the white house any more. All I want is to work, pay my tax, and hopefully my social security will be enough for me to retire when I can no longer work. Do I donate money to any of the candidates? NO. I rather buy food for my local homeless shelter than waste money on them. Will I attend my dear Democratic friend's voting party on Tuesday? No, I rather stay home, spend valuable time with my children than getting drunk cursing on the "tea baggers". You see, too much hatred and jealousy in our country these days.

And you can find NBC down the list at around 16 or so.

But all you delusional nut jobs here in MSNBC land can continue to take comfort in oversampled democrat polls for another 24 to 36 hours until R and R take the country back to real change baby. I mean really...CNN's latest poll that shows a tie has oversampled Dems by 11%. LMFAO at how badly the media wants Obummer to win, oversampling by 11% in order to get a tie. Obummer is in real trouble.

It is soooo reassuring to think that so many Americans just take this Mitt to be their Candidate without any regard or opinion that serves Truth in context, in that nearly every word coming out of Willard's Mouth is pure deception. Sometimes things can slip or are misspoken during a long campaign by any candidate, but when 80-90% can be proven to be Bull @!$%#e, it would appear that the learning curve would take effect.

We are screwed down the line no matter which of these guys win. The difference eill be the fast track to doom Romney will allow by bending like Gumby to every Corporate Person that financed his campaign, in oreder to get his return on investment for haow much of his own money he has committed to this campaign.

It is like Rick Scott of Florida Texas. Total Fakes that plain and simply steal away from the US Public in order to advance their own wealth at any cost to the Nation.
