Polls: Obama stays ahead in Ohio, deadlocked with Romney in Fla.

President Barack Obama gives a thumbs up as he participates in a campaign rally in Lima, Ohio, Nov. 2, 2012.

Three days until Election Day, President Barack Obama maintains his lead in the key battleground state of Ohio and is locked in a close contest with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in Florida, according to new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

In Ohio, Obama holds a six-point advantage over Romney among likely voters, 51 percent to 45 percent, which is unchanged from last month’s poll in the Buckeye State.

Read the Ohio poll here

And in Florida, the president gets support from 49 percent of likely voters, while his GOP challenger gets 47 percent. Those numbers are virtually identical to the ones from October, when it was Obama 48 percent, Romney 47 percent.

Both states are two of the biggest prizes in Tuesday’s presidential contest. An Obama victory in Ohio, which awards 18 electoral votes, would put him tantalizingly close to getting to the 270 electoral votes needed to win a second term.

President Barack Obama campaigns in Lima, Ohio as he rallies supporters in key states just before the election.

But an Obama loss in the Buckeye State – and a Romney win – would place a hole in the president’s Midwest firewall.

Meanwhile, Florida, which awards 29 electoral votes, is a must-win state for Romney. A Republican loss there would push Obama past 270 electoral votes – even if the president lost every other battleground state in NBC’s current map.

Obama ahead with early voters
As with the recent NBC/WSJ/Marist polls of Iowa and Wisconsin, Obama is benefitting from early voters in Ohio and Florida.

Read the Florida poll here

In the Sunshine State, 63 percent say they have already voted or plan to do so before Election Day, and Obama is winning them, 53 percent to 46 percent. But Romney is ahead among Election Day voters in Florida, 52 percent to 40 percent.

In Ohio, 35 percent say they have already voted or plan to do so, and Obama is leading them, 62 percent to 36 percent. Yet Romney is up among Election Day voters in the Buckeye State, 52 percent to 42 percent.

Strong approval for the president’s handling of Sandy
The polls were conducted after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, and seven in 10 likely voters in Florida and Ohio approve of the president’s job in handling the hurricane and its aftermath.

“The response was overwhelmingly positive, and that was occurring across party lines,” says Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.

On handling the economy
Meanwhile, Romney has a slight advantage over Obama in Florida when it comes to which candidate would better handle the economy – 48 percent pick Romney and 46 percent back Obama.

GOP candidate Mitt Romney speaks to supporters in Chester, Ohio as he campaigns in key swing states ahead of the election.

But those numbers are reversed in Ohio, where 48 percent believe Obama would better handle the economy and 46 percent side with Romney.

On party ID
In these surveys, Democrats enjoy a nine-point party-identification advantage in Ohio and a two-point edge in Florida. Republicans have argued that a nine-point advantage is too large in this current political environment; it was eight points in the Buckeye State during Obama’s decisive 2008 victory.

If you cut that party ID advantage in half, Obama’s six-point lead in Ohio is reduced to three points.

Other numbers in the poll
Obama’s job-approval rating among likely voters stands at 48 percent in Florida and 50 percent in Ohio.

In the final push in the 2012 presidential election, candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama make their last appeals to voters.

In Ohio’s Senate contest, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown leads Republican Josh Mandel by five points among likely voters, 50 percent to 45 percent.

And in Florida’s Senate contest, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson leads Republican Connie Mack by nine, 52 percent to 43 percent.

The NBC/WSJ/Marist poll of Florida was conducted Oct. 30-Nov. 1 of 1,545 likely voters, and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 2.5 percentage points.

And the survey of Ohio was conducted Oct. 31-Nov.1 of 971 likely voters, and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.

Quantum leap of logic for quantum enigma. What part of the constitution is Obama violating that the Republican party has not made a mockery of already? The opposition has learned too well for your taste I take it. It would have been better if you had quit while the true intellectuals of the Right were still alive. Buckley for example. You didn't have to agree with him, but he always made sense. The mormon - oops freudian slip there - the moron you have up there now hasn't had an original idea since before he was born.

Based on the exploding numbers tonight over at RCP and FiveThirtyEight and all in good fun, of course, I hereby offer my prediction that on election night President Obama wins 332 electoral votes to Governor Romney's 206, with Obama taking every toss-up state except North Carolina.

Yep, that means that Obama takes Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Colorado, Virginia, and Florida.

Virginia and Florida? No way!

Yes, way.

Virginia by 0.6% and Florida by 0.3%.

The whole idea that Obama is some sort of extreme left winger, socialist, communist, etc. is completely absurd and demonstrates better than anything else that you righties simply do not understand the politics of your country. Obama, like Clinton is very centrist, even a little right leaning. "Obamacare" is a VERY conservative healthcare plan; as a liberal, I spit on this greed filled plan that allows insurance companies to make out like bandits. How can anyone in their right mind think that insurance companies should have their greedy mitts in anything as important as caring for each other's health needs? Your party was determined to strongly oppose the centrist Obama and the only way they could do that is to run to the far right. You guys have already won the war. There is NO representation for real liberals in your country anymore, but the responsible conservatism that Obama offers is not good enough for the new radical extremist republicans; now they will settle for nothing less than a total plutocratic fascist state. The Americans who still support them are going down in history as some of the stupidest people to ever walk the face of the earth.

Britain's Conservative Party instituted austerity measures a few years back which were sensible. No cuts in government programs to the poorest people and EVERYONE else makes SOME sacrafices. I can only wish Republicans are more like their counterparts in Great Britain, but they are not. As someone in the American middle class WHY should I be expected to make sacrafices when the wealthiest Americans make none? Even if Republicans claim that they will "close tax loopholes" on the wealthy I don't trust them. I need a "you can hold my feet to the fire on this one" statement before I'd even consider voting for anyone other than Obama.

The gang of traitorous scumbag fascists that used to be the republican party say that they are going to lower rates and close loopholes so that the rich will not be paying less, but every time loopholes are closed the plutocrat's lawyers find ways around it, lessening the effect of the closed loopholes. They will end up paying even less effective tax, further squeezing the middle class, and driving up the debt.

Which Ronmey are ya talkin' about?

    The "moderate" Romney?

    The "Severly conservative" Romney?

The "I don't remember what I said, but whatever it was, I stand by it" Romney"?

The "Jeep is moving all their plants to China" Romney?

Just because Romney had made money as a venture capitalist, doesn't mean he can run a country. The US is NOT a business... The business model Romney uses is:

    1-Buy business

    2-Load business up with debt

3-Suck all the money out of said business, PAAYDAAY!!!

4-Get rid of, or "Harvest" (His words) said business, without any regards of the consequences, nor the loss of worker's jobs, pensions or medical benefits.

Since you talk about reseach, go and reseach what's going on in Freeport, Maine. A company named Sensata, owned by Bain Capital, is being closed down and it's jobs shipped to CHINA, so they can profit from cheaper labor, even though tha company raked in 10's of millions of dollars in profit. Romney only owns about $8 MILLION in stock.

I don't see anything wrong with making money. Making money is great, but stealing money from a company, while destroying the lives of the workers that helped put that money in your pocket, is downright immoral. You republicans always talk about "values".. really??

That's not the business model I want to see for this country. It's short sighted, not a long term growth plan. Bush already tried it. He got into office, grabbed the SURPLUS Clinton left him, gave it all to the rich "Job Creators" in a huge tax cut, deregulated Wall Street, and what happened to those jobs? Oh, yeah, we watched the economy shed 800,000 iobs a month just before he left office. Then the 47% had to step in and pay for the mess he created.

Romney wants to do the same thing! "Tax cut, tax cut, tax cut... Please, I'm tired of hearing the same old, tired crap. Didn't work then, won't work now. No thanks, been there, done that.

At least with Obama, the economy is staring to show solid signs that it's getting better. Sure, not fast enough for our instant gratification, no patience society, but maybe if the GOP's leadership had made their primary goal fixing the mess they created, instead of "blocking the President so we can get our hands back on the cookie jar again", we could have had a speedier recovery. I just love the hypocrisy...

Romney/Ryan are done! They may both be very well practiced at habitual lying, but ,the american people can see through all this BS.What it comes down to in the end is a Romney/Ryan presidency will return us to theAmerica of anera similar to the post great depression-no social safety nets,no unions, and no affordable health care.Hence, a society that is one step above slavery,to cater to big business and the elite(1%)These two will say anything to get elected, but they have flip-flopped more than a fish out of water and have shot themselves in the foot, thank God.Remeber the last time when the elite ruled the masses and people were hungry and starving, and the elite wallowed in their ivory towers looking down on these peasants what happened?Remember when this same ruling class told the starving masses"let them eat cake" what happened?Well if these to somehow managed to steal this election,America would follow the same course as that failed government.I will explain this,so even republicans can understand what I am getting at: the french revolution, you idiots! If we do end up with these two, lets hope history does indeed repeat itself-"OFF WITH THEIR HEADS"

Hey Libbies, why don't you go to other countries and find out how many people there control most of the financing?! Especially, Islamic and socialist countries. And you will find out that most of the rich there hoard all the power and influence and riches. At least in this country every man and woman can work hard and advance themselves, or give the oppurtunity to their children to do so. All you want to do is give more power to a few people, and socialize our gov't so no one can advance themselves. And if they are born into a certain class they are relagated to stay there, like in the other countries you wish us to become. So what if some come up with a great ideas, work hard and prospers from it. Why the hate and envy, do your part to advance yourself, and that means kicking the addiction of government assitence!

So you think your country has LESS hoarding of power and money than all the other countries? You are correct that income disparity is a worldwide problem, but it is WORSE here than ANYWHERE else, even the most backward banana republics that America is fast becoming. Don't be fooled by the fact that America's poor are a little better off than the poor in other countries. America is a very prosperous nation so everyone is a little better off, but the unfairness is more pronounced here than anywhere else.

I have seen people start from nothing and become rich and prosper from their hard work. Its a fact, because i have witnessed it myself. Now, I may never get there, but I am implanting the idea and trying to help my children to achieve it. I have seen mexicans come from thier country with nothing, start a business and prosper greatly.

I have seen what they do to others that try to do the same in other countries. They are muscled out, and thier hard work and prosperity is taken away, and given to someone else. Most likely, a family member of a corrupt polotician. They are to stay in there class where they were born into.

America is still more prosperous than most other countries, but she is heading in the wrong direction faster than anyone else. People like you are facilitating the decline of your own country. A strong middle class with buying power is essential to a healthy economy. Do you really think that allowing multi-billion dollar companies to rape your country's resources, destroy your environment, kill hard working Americans by ignoring what few regulations are left, all while paying NOTHING back in taxes, is a good thing? Romney is a nothing but a heartless plutocrat who will bleed his fellow citizens of every last drop of blood that he can. When he and his fellow greedy scumbag fascists have finally destoyed America they will simply pack up and head somewhere else to do the same thing, just like Romney does in the business world.

A strong middle class is the key? You don't have a clue as to history of prosperity of this country. It is because of the ones with he resources investing in the ideas of a hardworking ingenious person. And that person is rewarded, and his idea is used to employ the middle class. And as for raping the resources, you don't have a clue of the constant evolution of the US economy. It is able to adapt and conform to the different needs each generation faces. You watch to many Alien movies!, and really need to get a grip on reality. USofA has always been at the for front of research and development, for the hardworking industrious, who live in this great nation have the oppurtunity to achieve the American dream. So they invent, and use the capital of a private investor to perpetuate the idea into success. Look at our history, and you will see millions that have changed the course of the way we live and improved the standards of life. And instead of rewarding them you want to tax them, take away from their prosperous idea and give it to undeserving people, to lazy to do for themselves. Now I can understand helping someone get back on their feet, but not someone who abuses the system! We live in a new day and age, we are more effecient effective at abstacting without permanant harm to the enviroment, and we are improving the proccesses everyday. We have more equal rights and justice, we have all learned from the past. So get your head out of the sand and look at the future. And with freedoms and less Federal gov't, people will continue to progress to achieve their dreams. And let them prosper without robbing from them, to give to addicts and drunks that put themselves in that situation!

Besides, how does taxing the rich help the middle class? All over taxing does is breed corruption to control the trillions of taxpayers dollars! Take a look at other countries. And your word fascist fits your buddy Obama, who has never had to meet a payroll, or try to keep a company going, and hardworking people employed. How did Obama achieve his wealth?, and get a Ivy league education? Yea thats right, the Evil Rich private investor!, but these investors have a different plans. They want to pull the strings and establish a socialist country, where only a few have the power and influence, and control over the huge amount of taxpayers dollars! Why is inflation skyrocketing? To help the middleclass? No he wants you to be dependant of the Federal Gov't, give to the lower classes a few ammenities like Obamacare and addict them to Gov't subsidies, so they lose the will to try for a better standard of living(THE AMERICAN DREAM!).

Only 4 more days until the media can stop pretending this is a close contest, just to boost their ratings. Not a single poll aggregater or statistician has EVER given Romney any hope of winning the electoral college. Obama is going to win the popular vote and the electoral college. Romney should not let the door hit him on the way back to obscurity. The only thing that would make an Obama win better is if Ryan loses his Congressional seat in Wisconsin.

              Spot-66666-

You need to look in the mirror.

Losers are well known---Obama/Biden: Their Last 4 Years is Proof. FAILURES! Even you can't deny this fact. Fools (insert Obama/Binden here) may have seemed to be in control but that doesn't mean they know what they know what they're doing, apparantly. Ever heard of "play it by ear"? Obama is reactive, not PROACTIVE. LMFAOFF at you...

MSNBC, THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS (Not a legit news agency) runs a story on Sat. about Benghazi. A Saturday 3 days before an election when no other news organization has time to respond w/ investigative journalism....46 days after questions arise.

THIS amounts to nothing more that PROPAGANDA by a political party that mirrors Nazi Germany 1939.

This piece of SH#T news organization would tell the public the moon is orange if the anointed one told them too.

We know the simple truth about Benghazi..

AMERICANS DIED,THE NATION CRIED,AND OBAMA LIED.

Nate Silver was on Rachel Maddow's show last night. He said that in the most recent polls, President Obama is leading in every single swing state. Let me say it again. President Obama is leading in every single swing state. Obama/Biden 2012 Clinton/Brown 2016

That would only be important to people who have no faith in their own decision-making ability, and who blindly follow the mob.
