Romney launches final election push with massive Ohio rally

GOP candidate Mitt Romney speaks to supporters in Chester, Ohio as he campaigns in key swing states ahead of the election.

WEST CHESTER, OH -- Launching a final pre-election sprint, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney capped a pivotal day for his campaign with one of his largest rallies ever here in Ohio flanked by the party's top leaders.

Romney and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan told tens of thousands of Ohioans that they were joining a movement to bring change to Washington, an argument set to play out in a state Ryan called the "battleground of battlegrounds."

"I've watched over the last few months as our campaign has gathered, well the strength of a movement," Romney said. "Not only the size of crowds likes this, its the depth of our shared convictions. Our readiness for new possibilities. The sense that our work is soon to begin. its made me strive more to be worthy of your support. To campaign as I would govern. To speak for the aspiration of all Americans."

The event gathered dozens of elected Republicans who will fan out across Ohio and a variety of other swing states this weekend in hopes of pulling those states into the Republican column on Tuesday. The area where Romney held his rally is a more Republican enclave outside of Cincinnati, where the margin between him and Obama could make the difference on Tuesday.

The army of Republican heavyweights included former presidential candidates like Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Arizona Sen. John McCain. They will disperse across the country, though no state may be more pivotal to the Republican ticket's fortunes than Ohio.

"Your state is the one I’m counting on by the way. This is the one we have to win," Romney said.

"Ohio you know it -- you are the lynch pin," Ryan said. "You are the battleground of battlegrounds!"

The speech mostly mirrored the "closing argument" Romney first delivered this morning in Wisconsin, promising "real change" to voters who are disappointed with Obama.

Romney attacked President Barack Obama for today's small uptick in the unemployment rate (to 7.9 percent, even as job creation beat expectations with 171,000 new jobs created in October) and chastised the president for telling an Ohio audience "voting is the best revenge" earlier this afternoon.

"Did you see what President Obama said today? He asked his supporters to vote for revenge," Romney said. "For revenge. Instead I ask the American people to vote for love of country."

Before the top of the ticket took the stage, other speakers looked to keep the chilly crowd fired up, following a concert from Romney supporter Kid Rock.

"We are freezin' for a reason, aren't we," joked Sen. Rob Portman, who chairs Romney's campaign in the state, and urged supporters to take advantage of early voting again on Saturday.

"Can we afford four more years like [those under President Obama]?" asked Speaker of the House John Boehner, in whose district the rally was staged. "Hell no we can't!"

As Romney stuck mostly to script, some of the many surrogates who preceded him riffed on a broader scope of issues. Several Republicans, including 2008 nominee and Arizona Sen. John McCain, sharply criticized Obama's handling of a deadly September assault on a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya. Romney had also been a fierce critic of the president's handling of the incident, but has all but dropped that element from his campaign.

Democrats pounced on the rally as evidence that Romney would not govern in the bipartisan manner he regularly promises on the stump.

"Speaker after speaker offered angry, hyper partisan, and widely-debunked attacks that—at times—veered into conspiracy theory territory," said Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith in a statement. "It’s a fitting end to Mitt Romney’s campaign, since he has kowtowed to the far-right wing of the Republican Party throughout the six years he’s been running for President, leaving little doubt that he’d rubberstamp the Tea Party agenda in the White House."

One of Romney's plans:

TOTAL lies and deceptions.

Of course Romney wanted GM to go bankrupt.

There was no "private" money available to save GM and so there would be a liquidation.

All warranties void, all dealers out of business, all parts suppliers out of business, millions of workers out of jobs.

Who benefits? Vulture capitalists like Romney's Bain.

Buy up the assets for pennies on the dollar. Sell the patents, sell the manufacturing equipment. Make millions on the blood of the laid off employees of all those companies who made up the auto industry. And make no mistake; even Ford admitted that if the suppliers went out of business they would have folded too. If you think this is the "American Way" you need to go somewhere else to live.

It's a disgrace to all those Americans who have sacrificed for the good of the entire country, not just a few greedy pigs.

If you didn't get to see Piers Morgan tonight, hope you can catch a rerun of his interview with Rudy Guiliani. Mr. Guiliani was dissing the President for allegedly mishandling the Benghazi attack, and suddenly during his interview, General Wesley Clark (who had been interviewed earlier), asked if he could address Rudy, and the show's producers put him on. It was priceless to watch.

Rudy Guiliani was obviously stunned to suddenly have a military expert like General Clark appear on screen and contradict everything that Mr. Giluiani was saying, and the General also pointed out how wrong it was for people to publicize the Benghazi attack, and how the Democrats did not politicize a tragedy like 9/11 on the day of the attack, or the day after, or the week after, or the month after ... etc.

Rudy shot back his same rhetoric and then pulled his earplug out and walked off the camera.

He knew he was outmatched!

Massive rally around what? Mitt Ryan? oooff. What policies? What actions? What credibility, character, or unifying vision? Or is it all smoke and mirrors...phantom attacks without substance? Running away from media questions and repeating dreadfully obvious lies ad nauseum aren't cues that you are "running strong". No, I think the Republican strategists are already mapping out a plan in anticipation of a loss. Funny, the Dems put one in the "W" column.

The House of Representatives will be essentially the same as now after the election, with Republicans in control with about 240 seats.

This means that a vote for Obama is a vote for several more years of 'GRIDLOCK', since Obama has demonstrated that he is either unwilling or unable to compromise with the Republicans.

Unlike Reagan and Clinton, who worked closely with an opposing Congress to get lots of good things done, Obama has made only one attempt to meet with the Republicans (on the Debt crisis), and even then he reneged on the 'deal' he made with Boehner.

With Romney as President, we will at least have some cooperation between the White House and Congress, and avoid more GRIDLOCK.

Myth Romney, who is now the "Leader of the non-working, do nothing, filibustering GOP controlled congress with an all time low approval of 7%."

With a record 500+ filibusters, PLEDGES to NEVER generate more cash for the government, ZERO compromises, voter suppression and intimidation, voting NO on every Job bill, creating war on women, and with NO record of any accomplishments or anything done for the country in 40 years.

The undecided voters keep ignoring or are not aware that the REAL culprits behind the slow recovery on the economy and jobs are the "obstructionist" Republicans controlling congress with cloture and filibusters to stop job legislation and halt Obama's agenda to fix the economy.

Only a "super majority" can stop the Republican obstruction of the past 3.5 years.

Obama doesn't have a supermajority, Obama only has the senate by ONE and the GOP owns the house and CONTROLS all legislation.

We have a communication problem if these undecided voters are not aware that the GOP has done NOTHING but get in the way of passing bills to promote job and economy growth.

Remember that the President doesn't pass the bills, he just signs them.

Obama has a 51% approval and has been waiting for job bills on his desk to sign but the GOP losers just won't pass any.

Stop "blaming" Obama. Put blame where blame is really deserved, on the 7% approved "GOP owned" congress.

This nation cannot afford four more years of GOP obstruction.

Our unemployment rate would be at 6% if the Congress had passed all of President Obama's spending bills.

12 major spending bills are sitting in Congress right now that should have been passed so President Obama could sign them into law.

Right wingers need to remind themselves of the GOP's obstructionism that has stopped the creation or saving of at least three million jobs.

The American jobs Act would have created or saved two million jobs.

The Small Business tax credit bill would have helped small business create at least one million jobs.

So for you math challenged right wingers you need to remember that the GOP's obstructionism and filibustering of bills has cost us three million jobs plus.

All we get are short term spending resolutions from this failed GOP Congress.

The GOP House failed to pass the Farm Bill:

The GOP House failed to pass the American Jobs Act last year as President Obama asked for in September, 2011. This cost our economy two million jobs:

The GOP in the Senate blocks the Small business tax credit bill that economists say would have created one million jobs in July, 2012.

The DO NOTHING, 9% approved GOP congress has a record 500+ filibusters to stop progress of any kind in the country.

All hurting millions of Americans to stop one man from keeping his job.

It was created by the GOP and by design.

Judging by Willard's and his cronies business tactics, the country is ripe for the harvesting.

Nobody has to wonder if the GOP can win an election legitimately. Everyone who is breathing should know they cannot.

Florida governor Rick Scott is fighting to prevent democrats access to in person early voting and severely limits times in which votes may be cast.

Absentee ballots requested in early October still not delivered to residents in mostly Democratic counties. Big surprise there!

See it on Rachel Maddow - tonight's show.

Obama 15,000 weeks ago in Columbus.

Romeny 12,000+ in Canton, Ohio a week ago.

One huge factor not much discussed, in particular by the mainstream liberal media, and in all social discourse is that race is still taboo, and how it is distorting the polls. We live in PC self-imposed censorship. Specifically there is a huge self-censorship factor with many people, particularly whites, as to their public support for Obama when in actuality many feel discomfort in publicly betraying our first African-American president for this other 'oh-so-white' alternative, even though on deemed merits the alternatives will get the votes.

Romney is patently so much more accomplished than Obama.

Romney will win ... it is not going to be close.

5 Ways Republicans Have Sabotaged Job Growth...

1. Filibustering the American Jobs Act.

Last October, Senate Republicans killeda jobs bill proposed by President Obama that would have pumped $447 billion into the economy. Multiple economic analysts predicted the bill would add around two million jobs and hailed it as defense against a double-dip recession. The Congressional Budget Office also scored it as a net deficit reducer over ten years, and the American public supported the bill.

2. Stonewalling monetary stimulus.

The Federal Reserve can do enormous good for a depressed economy through more aggressive monetary stimulus, and by tolerating a temporarily higher level of inflation. But with everything from Ron Paul’s anti-inflationary crusade to Rick Perry threatening to lynch Chairman Ben Bernanke, Republicans have browbeaten the Fed into not going down this path. Most damagingly, the GOP repeatedly held up President Obama’s nominations to the Federal Reserve Board during the critical months of the recession, leaving the board without the institutional clout it needed to help the economy.

3. Threatening a debt default.

Even though the country didn’t actually hit its debt ceiling last summer, the Republican threat to default on the United States’ outstanding obligations was sufficient to spook financial markets and do real damage to the economy.

4. Cutting discretionary spending in the debt ceiling deal.

The deal the GOP extracted as the price for avoiding default imposed around $900 billion in cuts over ten years. It included $30.5 billion in discretionary cuts in 2012 alone, costing the country 0.3 percent in economic growth and 323,000 jobs, according to estimates from the Economic Policy Institute. Starting in 2013, the deal will trigger another $1.2 trillion in cuts over ten years.

5. Cutting discretionary spending in the budget deal.

While not as cataclysmic as the debt ceiling brinksmanship, Republicans also threatened a shutdown of the government in early 2011 if cuts were not made to that year’s budget. The deal they struck with the White House cut $38 billion from food stamps, health, education, law enforcement, and low-income programs among others, while sparing defense almost entirely.

Obama has presented a budget each year as required by law.

What did the House of Representatives do with them?

Hum, guess we are still waiting for a vote?

Give Boehner a call, maybe he can give you some details about that!

No budget is going to be passed until the Bush tax cuts expire.

How can Romney run to be the president of the United States when he is the lead job provider in china?

Or when he keeps most of his money in offshore accounts?

Or when he was a draft dodger that said he supported the Vietnam war, but took deferments and played in France while our soldiers died?

Romney doesn't let those 47% people get in his way, it is all about money.

It is all about getting the rest of the money the greedy rich didn't get when they caused the crash of the economy.

Romney hires these same 17 of 24 of his advisers from Bush/Cheney so they can get the job done this time.

Romney drains the country like he did to every company he bought..........for every last penny.

Romney uses our country’s entire infrastructure, all of our tax money to take jobs and money out of the United States. Romney's heart is where his money is....in offshore accounts in foreign countries.

This is so rich from so many libs on this blog with this cartoonish depiction of Romney as an industry heavy and Obama as a saintly protector of the little guy. CLINTON was the MOST FINANCIALLY DESTRUCTIVE PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY and OBAMA is the proud inheritor of his policies:

A) HE, no one else, with the assist of his Goldman Sachs and Wall Street buddies - Robert Rubin, Lawrence Sommers, Timothy Geithner, et. al., and Alan Greenspan (Fed) (and some of these people where brought back by OBAMA to his administration!) - repealed the Glass-Steagall Act of 1934 which kept Commercial Banking, Investing Banking, and Insurance separate; and with this repeal led to the meltdown of TRILLIONS of dollars of speculative non-oversight investments by banks and financial institutions.

B) HE, no one else, and despite warnings from many councils of economists, industry groups and labor unions truly opened the flood gates on free trade towards LABOR-SINKHOLES economies such as China with NO labor- and product-return to capital, value-added safeguards to protect key industries and sectors in the U.S., as other countries do, such as even the Europeans when drafting similar treaties. In the process HE is the one who set the stage for true syphoning out the manufacturing/industrial base of our country!

C) HE, along with the usual suspects above (and again the same people brought back by OBAMA to work for him) purposely undermined his own chief regulator on market derivatives, Brooksley E. Born, Chief of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, by preventing her, through their insistence, in taking action on regulating the emerging subprime derivatives market which she rightfully predicted will lead to a major world disaster. (Duh ... does anyone remember the crash of '08?). Anyway, such lack of regulation led to a market of 800 to 900 Trillion (with a T) of mostly toxic derivatives. (How much were Bush's hare-brain adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan cost? ... 1, 2 Trillion?).

CLINTON IS BY FAR THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE FINANCIAL PRESIDENT and OBAMA has taken most of these people in! Romney was no wheres on the radar screen in the decision making on any of the above

So many brain washed people.

by President Obama that would have pumped $447 billion into the economy. Multiple economic analysts predicted the bill would add around two million jobs and hailed it as defense against a double-dip recession

Would have pumped up the DEBT by 447 billion. You do realize that Obama was going to cut the tax deduction to charities to fund that bill when it was introduced in Sept of 2011?? Over a year later no double dip. 447 billion @ 2 million jobs = $223,000 per job

Obama has presented a budget each year as required by law.

What did the House of Representatives do with them?

Hum, guess we are still waiting for a vote?

here is some food for thought and please educate yourself before posting

President Obama's budget was defeated 414-0 in the House late Wednesday

The vote came as the House worked its way through its own fiscal year 2013 budget proposal, written by Budget Committee Chairman Paul D. Ryan. Republicans wrote an amendment that contained Mr. Obama's budget and offered it on the floor, daring Democrats to back the plan, which calls for major tax increases and yet still adds trillions of dollars to the deficit over the next decade.

Last year, when they forced a vote on his 2012 budget, it was defeated 97-0.~~ The Washington Times March 28, 2012

------------------------------------------------------------------

President Obama's budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday, when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.

Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.

Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor. ~~The Washington Times May 16, 2012

---------------------------------------------------------------

And what is the end result of all of President Obama’s new taxes and spending? A record national debt. According to the White House Office of Management and Budget, the United States will post a $1.556 trillion deficit in fiscal 2010, which the Obama administration claims will be reduced to $1.267 trillion in fiscal 2011, thanks to their budget. Given this administration’s budget forecasting record, however, expect that final deficit number to go up. The Obama administration now forecasts $5.08 trillion in debt over the next five years; that is 35% more debt than they forecast just 12 months ago.

hummm I guess you got your vote NOT ONE DEM voted for Obama's 2012 or 2013 budgets.

That should open your eyes to his failure of being president

Hmmmmmm,

Well it appears that the taxpayer bailed-out Chrysler is looking back and now considering cutting costs by shifting production of all Jeeps to China, which has a strong desire for Jeeps.

In a Bloomberg interview, Jeep's president said the automaker plans to restore Jeep production in China, suspended in 2009, and is considering making all Jeeps in China. "Fiat SpA, majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region," reported the business wire service.

Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia and president of the Jeep brand, told Bloomberg, "We're reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity" as well as "should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio" to China.

Chrysler builds Jeep SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Manley said the firm is in talks with China's Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2511703#.UIlutq5eJ2K

Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.

Fiat is in “very detailed conversations” with its Chinese partner, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. (2238), about making Jeeps in the world’s largest auto market, said Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia. Chrysler hasn’t built Jeeps there since before Fiat took control in 2009.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-21/fiat-says-china-may-build-all-jeep-models-as-suv-demand-climbs.html

In another potential blow for the president's Ohio reelection campaign, Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China.

Such a move would crash the economy in towns like Toledo, Ohio, where Jeeps are made and supplied, and rob the community of the economic security they thought Obama's auto bailout assured them.

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2012/10/25/chrysler_alive_but_jeep_about_to_shift_production_to_china

Michigan, 22 Oct. (AKI/Bloomberg) - Italian car gian Fiat, which controls the Chrysler Group plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.

“The volume opportunity for us is very significant,” Manley, who is also president of the Jeep brand, said in an interview at Chrysler’s Auburn Hills, Michigan, headquarters.

“We’re reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity” as well as “should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio.”

Chrysler, which entered an alliance with Turin, Italy-based Fiat as part of its US-government-backed bankruptcy, is relying on growth in China to counter weakness in Europe’s auto market. The carmaker is targeting 500,000 annual sales outside North America by 2014, more than triple its overseas deliveries in 2009.

GM did go bankrupt for about 5 minutes. That was one of Obamas conditions for the bailout. The bailout amounted to Obama buying GM shares at $100 a share. Why Obama had GM go bankrupt was to deal with their retirement obligations. Thousands of retired GM workers go their pension reduced by about 60%. The Union went along with this because it was an at gun point offer. Take this and be quite or lost all the retirement your people were promised.

Obama then sold off the GM shares he bought for $100 a share to China for $30 a share.

China is currently building 17 auto plants for their new CGM Chinese Government Motors.

Guess where most of GM's jobs are going??

FORWARD??????

BTW When Obama bankrupts the country guess what happens to all those retirement obligations the government is obligated to? Social Security, Veterans and retired government workers?

Just remember what Obama did to the retired GM workers because thats whats coming!

Anemic economic growth, year after year, after year.

No budget for the past three years as required by the Constitution.

Solyndra FAIL and cover-up (or at least no due diligence) that cost taxpayers over half a billion dollars.

FAILURE to protect our embassy in Libya resulting in the deaths of four Americans, and the cover-up afterward. Obama stalling until after the election.

Fast and Furious FAILURE, resulting in the death of a boarder control officer and the cover-up by the Obama administration. Holder held in contempt of Congress. Case still not solved due to Obama's stalling.

Read this article from Thomas Sowell before you even consider to vote this November. Forward it to your family and friends:
*********
If Obama wins, "then the fate of America -- and of Western nations, including Israel -- will be left in the hands of a man with a lifelong hostility to Western values and Western interests.
President Obama is such a genial man that many people, across the ideological space, cannot see him as a danger.
For every hundred people who can see his geniality, probably only a handful see the grave danger his warped policies and ruthless tactics pose to a whole way of life that has given generation after generation of Americans unprecedented freedom and prosperity.
The election next November will not be just another election, and the stakes add up to far more than the sum of the individual issues. Moreover, if reelected and facing no future election, whatever political constraints may have limited how far Obama would push his radical agenda will be gone.
He would have the closest thing to a blank check. Nothing could stop him but impeachment or a military coup, and both are very unlikely. A genial corrupter is all the more dangerous for being genial.

Washington spends $25 billion annually maintaining unused or vacant federal properties.

The Congressional Budget Office published a “Budget Options” series identifying more than $140 billion in potential spending cuts.

Examples from multiple Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports of wasteful duplication include 342 economic development programs; 130 programs serving the disabled; 130 programs serving at-risk youth; 90 early childhood development programs; 75 programs funding international education, cultural, and training exchange activities; and 72 safe water programs. The cost estimate for this is between $100 billion and $200 billion annually.

The Institute of Medicine reported that health care waste, fraud, abuse and corruption (WFAC) is estimated to cost taxpayers more than $750 billion annually.

Now, Thinker, I want to you to read this one nice and slow because I’m almost sure that you are one of those social and economic justice nonsense advocates.

Government auditors spent the past five years examining all federal programs and found that 22 percent of them–costing taxpayers a total of $123 billion annually–fail to show any positive impact on the populations they serve.

Read this one nice and slow a few times. These are our government watchdogs telling us our own government is wasting nearly $125 billion annually on social programs that do NOTHING for the populations they serve.

NOTHING!!!!!

This is the perfect example of your sacrosanct Liberal "welfare" programs you so idolize. More money to do less. Just like your wars of poverty, drugs, crime and illiteracy. Failures!

If you’d like I can give you more than 400 more examples of the massive WFAC in our government. But I’m sure this will all fall on deaf ears because you are a THINKER who has been indoctrinated in the typical fear mongering of the Left to deflect the real problem with our economy, our massive government, and instead blame the military.

Now, if you can show me how much more than all this WFAC the military costs us every year I’ll be happy to further discuss the topic with you. If not stop hoping for change from a junior senator whose only accomplishments in life were a few picnics as a community organizer and writing a couple books about himself.

Uhhh, where in the Constitution does is say that 'though shalt spend endlessley, without forethought, on hundreds of social programs and entitlements’?

Please don’t embarrass yourself by using the “General Welfare Clause”, “Necessary and Proper Clause” or the “Commerce Clause”, none of them are applicable.

Romney is walking around with the confidence of not a winner but of a cheater, because of the influence of massive voter fraud for him in this election. The story is being suppressed in this country but not in the UK where you can read about it by searching on the web for 'retired NSA analyst proves GOP is stealing elections'.

Voting is one of most precious rights and now the proof that we are having our democracy undermined by the treacherous GOP.

Wow. Really sick s--t here from obsessed rightwingers who apparently only read what enforces their fantasies. Romney's son Tagg owns the voting machines in Ohio and Colorado. They can be easily fiddled with and their owners will refuse to provide any information due to "proprietary issues."

The Mormon Church holds all the death records in the nation, as they routinely "convert" the dead to Mormonism. Wonder how many mailed ballots will be delivered with votes from the beyond. The republicans know how to steal an election, they did it in 2000, and the SCOTUS will support them.

The GOP would no longer accept Reagan & Goldwater, as it's become the most radically fascist organized political group in American history. Posting here we read spin from people desperate to be rid of our President because of the color of his skin, yet they try so hard to appear rational.

Thomas Jefferson warned us over 200 years ago that democracy would fail when monied corporations took the power of government. It's happening now. Lincoln feared the same when he had to rely on the railway corporations to move his troops. EIsenhower warned us of the military/industrial complex, but somebody here thinks it's great because it employs so many! It also kills many, and every country in history that's assumed the role of world police collapsed in 200 years. We need to rebuild our infrastructure, develop a smart electrical grid, and new technologies for clean energy--providing millions of jobs.

Ryan is saying we cannot afford to teach our kids or feed them when they go hungry--1 in 4 are malnourished and go to bed hungry every night--but Ryan's budget says we must feed our private defense contractors instead.

Romney wants to defund FEMA or privatize it. His purpose in giving all federal authority to the states is to balkanize America so government is powerless to protect our soil, air, water, and food supply. The states could not respond to a superstorm without fed coordination and funding--many many more would die in natural disasters occurring more & more frequently.

He'll strip Congress of it's authority to regulate interstate commerce and put the Chamber of Commerce in charge--we can see see that in Robert's recent opinions in Citizens United and on the Affordable Care Act.

So many here have been blinded by their racism and duped into voting against their own best interests. If Romney wins and tears apart the social contract, sooner or later the affected majority will revolt.

http://www.dpcc.senate.gov/files/documents/CRSTaxesandtheEconomy%20Top%20Rates.pdf

A detailed report by the independent and unimpeachable Congressional Research Service that was NOT published due to heavy GOP pressure.

Why? Because it says EXACTLT what I've been saying for months... that tax cuts for the rich DO NOT help the economy and, in fact, only cause a wider disparity between the rich and the middle class.

Tax cuts at the top ENCOURAGES executives to remove money from the business and tuck it away in off-shore accounts.

Tax cuts at the top DISCOURAGES executives to reinvest profits back into the business.

Shall I go one?

The GOP shut down this report because it refutes the GOP "meaning of life". It absolutely KILLS Romney's economic "plan" and exposes it as a total farce.

What say you Republicans?

The reason I stood in line for 2 hours to vote for Obama is simple. MITT WANTS TO LOWER TAXES EVEN MORE ON THE RICH. The ones that have destroyed this country over the past 30 years or so. I do not care or give a chit about anything else atm, but making those people pay. Rick Scott's sorry a$$ needs to pay back some of the money he stole from Medicare, taxes will do that. I could start going down a list of people that should not have the money that they do and did anything to get it. Taxes will make them pay back what they stole. Maybe they should have not been so greedy and selfish. Taxes provide a vital role much like friction and are to limit the magnitude or amount that people can acquire. The universe demands four times the power to double your velocity, and will tax you at a rate up to 100%. Our system should be the same, or else people break it. It needs to be harder to make more money, the more money you have, not easier. If it is easier to make more money the more you have we enter a condition called "exponential runaway" which the system cannot ever supply.

I still want to know where the f*** all you Mitt supporters were at 30 years ago? You know when we first lowered taxes to below 70% back in 1982 when the country did just fine from 1940 to then with a 90% to 70% top tax rate, and we were all against commies/socialism. Amazing how well businesses did and how many new products were introduced, but according to the rich RWNJs now, that should have never worked. Worker's wages went stagnant back in the 1960's when the top tax rate was lowered from 90% down to 70%. Small business started to decline and has been on the decline ever since the top tax rate was lowered from 70%. People tend to lie, cheat, and steal less when they are not rewarded for it. Stop rewarding them for it and letting them keep all their ill-gotten gains. Taxes will do that. The last four years have been all about a whole, huge, whooping 4% tax increase. The people of this country have suffered all so a small group of a-holes can have their 4% tax break. Maybe had you been willing to fix the mess you created I would not be so pissed at you. You cause the problem and refuse to be part of the solution, just more of the same B.S. that I have heard over the past 30 years or so.

RWNJs still talking about Jeep...LOL. You can tell who pays attention to what is going on.

And as we speak Romneys vulture business Bain Capitol which he is still a huge shareholder is dismantling and shipping American jobs from a profitable U.S. company(Sensata) to China. Romney is the most ruthless and despicable type of business man in our country and the right wants him to be our president. I hope all you conservatives are willing to move to China if you still want your job.

On the day before an election that's supposed to hinge on jobs, taxes and the middle class, Bain Capital, the company Mitt Romney founded, will close the doors of a factory in Freeport, Illinois, and ship 170 good, high-tech jobs to China.

The employees of Sensata Technologies were forced to train their Chinese replacements, and the American flag that long flew over the factory was reportedly removed while the Chinese engineers were visiting the site. A group of workers have set up camp across from the factory -- calling it “Bainport” -- and some supporters have tried to block the trucks hauling equipment out of the plant. According to Dave Johnson, there have been several arrests.

Sensata workers have asked to meet with Mitt Romney and hoped to enlist his help keeping their jobs in the United States, but he has refused, instead remaining on the campaign trail where he speaks often about “getting tough” with China.

The most important part of the story is that Sensata Technologies is profitable operating in Illinois. Net income last year was $355 million, up 16 percent from 2010. The company reported total revenues of $1.8 billion in 2011, up almost 19 percent from the year before. According to a company financial statement, “both 2011 net revenue and adjusted net income represent record levels for the company.”

So this has nothing to do with “making hard choices” in the process of turning around a failing business, which is how the Romney campaign describes Bain's corporate raiding. Bain's partners are looking for a modest boost in profits by locating the plant closer to the booming Asian automotive market (Sensata makes high-tech automotive parts). They'll get a small tax break for relocating the plant – the one Mitt Romney insisted did not exist during the first debate – and possibly defer taxes on some of the income the company generates.

Hopefully, after President Obama is re-elected, the majority of Americans can boycott any advertisers associated with FOX and its tabloid news. I saw this strategy work back when I was involved with the Parents Television Council when my children were young and concerned parents wanted to keep tv shows with mature themes off of family hour. Thousands of letters and emails were sent to the sponsors of these shows and it was encouraging to see how many sponsors quickly dropped those programs that were not suited for family time. The FOX channel was one of the worst as I recall.

It is unhealthy for anyone to be subjected to the brainwashing of FOX news. That agency and its one-sided, biased reporting is the equivalent of the National Enquirer news rag and the scariest part is that some intelligent people are actually falling for it. It has already caused enough disruption and unrest in this country.

    Time to boycott its sponsors.

    Independent Thought

Your attempts to rationalize with the indoctrinated Liberal bobbleheads about outsourcing and/or offshoring by Romney is futile.

Most of them have no idea how Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors or other equity investment companies work. They simply read their sacrosanct biased partisan sources such as Huff-N-Puff Post, the New York Slimes, Washington Post, Mother Jones and other nonsense and are incapable of doing any real research on their own.

I have been asking any of them to provide an accurate number of all the jobs Romney, while at Bain Capital, has outsourced for months. So far the response has been,,,

    'crickets'

They have no idea what they are talking about. They just keep parroting the lies and propaganda their comrades Barrack Hussein, Debbie Whatsername Slutz, the DNC and other dysfunctional sources tell them to.

They fixate on irrational issues like contraceptives, personal taxes, Big Bird and other bogeymen to simply deflect from the incompetence of Barrack Hussein. They constantly blather about some mythical cliff we were all saved from that the same economists who never saw the economic collapse coming now claim. How can you believe anyone’s post-apocalyptic evaluation when they never saw the apocalypse coming? Only in the secluded Liberal mind does this not make sense.

The Liberal faux concern about the 170 jobs at Sensata is just more of their fixation on irrelevant issues as that company has been outsourcing and offshoring since the 1950's. Of course none of them will simply research the companies own web site that explains it, they just continue their biased blathering to deflect.

Even when their favorite "FactCheck.org" discredits the Romney outsourcing claims, they just follow in their typical lemming fashion.

    http://www.factcheck.org/2012/06/obamas-outsourcer-overreach/

This is the level of lies and deceit Liberals will promote to protect our statist presidents lies and deceit. They all know what a horrible mistake they made in 2008 but instead of admitting it they continue to support Barrack Hussein simply to try and save what little dignity they have left.

On Wednesday, when real American's will be celebrating the election of Mitt Romney, we will finally rid ourselves of this irrational and destructive combination of Keynesianism and social/economic justice. Instead of dwelling on Big Bird we can finally concentrate on big issues. America is exceptional, contrary to the Liberal mindset.

It's time to promote American exceptionalism that Romney embraces instead of mediocrity that Barrack Hussein represents.

I am pasting a post from Sandy Radcliffe who, I think, did an excellent job of reporting. See Sandy’s writing below:-

“Tagg Romney's Company Misled Reporters About Its Relationship With Ponzi
    Scheme–Linked Firm Lee Fang on October 12, 2012 - 8:10 PM ET

The private equity firm run by Tagg Romney—Mitt’s eldest son, misled reporters
last year about its involvement with a company run by men accused of taking
part in a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme.

Last year, I reported that Tagg had formed a business partnership with several
North Carolina investors who are still facing a lawsuit for receiving bonus pay
for selling CDs as part of the $8 billion Stanford Financial Group Ponzi
    scheme.

In a nutshell, Tagg helped these investors form a company—called Solamere
Advisors, a nod to Tagg’s firm Solamere Capital—shortly after their boss, Allen
Stanford, was caught by law enforcement for his elaborate Ponzi fraud.

When I interviewed him in Las Vegas, Tagg told me that his associates were
“cleared” of any wrongdoing associated with the Stanford Ponzi scheme. Court
documents directly contradict Tagg and show that the lawsuit has not been
    dismissed.

The New York Times followed up on my story with its own report and confirmed
that Tagg’s business partners received incentive pay for selling bunk Stanford
CDs. They wrote about one Stanford victim, a local Charlotte businessman and
philanthropist named Herman Stone. Stone was pressured by Brandon Phillips, an
executive working now for Tagg’s firm, into putting $2 million into a
fraudulent Stanford CD and lost everything.

Solamere Capital attempted to distance itself from the story by claiming that
their business was not actually connected to the Ponzi-tainted firm, Solamere
Advisors. In a statement to ABC News, they claimed that their managers, not
Solamere Capital itself, were involved (emphasis added):

“It is inaccurate to suggest that Solamere Capital made an investment in this
firm [Solamere Advisors]. Solamere Capital was approached to invest in a new
wealth management firm being launched by these three individuals. After
extensive due diligence, Solamere Capital decided not to invest because the
business was at an early stage and did not meet our investment criteria.
However, Spencer Zwick, Tagg Romney and Eric Scheuermann each own a minority
stake in the business as individual investors.”

However, Solamere Capital’s statement, provided to ABC News, is false.
Disclosures from the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Tagg’s
company indeed maintains ties with the Ponzi-linked firm, Solamere Advisors.

The claim that Solamere Group didn’t invest directly in Solamere Advisors, the
firm employing former Stanford employees, appears to have been an attempt to
shield Mitt Romney. Mitt invested about $10 million into Tagg’s Solamere
Capital venture, which would suggest Mitt has a direct financial relationship
with folks involved in a Ponzi scheme. That’s because Solamere Capital pools
together investment money to co-invest in other companies

THIS IS ANOTHER POST FROM SANDY RADCLIFFE:

Remember the quote from Newt Gingrich about Romney? “How can you debate
      someone who lies about everything?”...more

      .
Under Gov. Romney, Massachusetts fell to 47th out of 50 in job creation:

Before Romney’s time as governor, Massachusetts ranked 36th out of 50 in job

creation, but over the course of his tenure the state ranked a dismal 47th out

of 50—even as the national economy was growing. The Bay State only beat Michigan,

Ohio, and Louisiana—which was still recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Gov. Romney created or raised over 1,000 taxes and fees:

Though he promised he wouldn’t raise taxes as governor, he increased taxes and

fees by as much as $750 million per year, leaving the average taxpayer to pay
an extra $1,227 in state and local fees and taxes. During his first year in office, Romney

raised fees on milk, driver’s licenses, hospitals, nursing and barber licenses,

      and even on the blind.

Gov. Romney left behind a huge budget deficit:

Romney broke his pledge to balance the budget and left his successor, Gov.

Deval Patrick, with a $1 billion budget deficit. Long-term debt increased by

16% over Romney’s four-year term, and he left Massachusetts with the highest
debt per person in the nation.

I would NEVER vote for Rob-Me; after one term as Massachusetts Governor, the People of the State of Massachusetts decided the same thing, INCLUDING REPUBLICANS!!!!

Hillary Clinton's former Senate state director, Gigi Georges:

“For most of my life, I’ve been an active Democrat. I am proud to have worked for President Bill Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and, during that time, I saw firsthand what can be accomplished by strong, bipartisan leadership. I know what it means to work across the aisle on issues that are important to the American people. And that’s why I am supporting Mitt Romney. Governor Romney has a plan to restore the prosperity this country deserves and expects. He will work with people of good will no matter what their party, and he will pursue the policies that are in the best interest of our country, no matter who proposes them. That’s what President Obama promised to do four years ago. But like so many of his promises, bipartisan cooperation is just another one he has broken. We can’t have four more years of failed policies and two parties that can’t work together. We need the change Mitt Romney is offering.”

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ROMNEY OWNS/HAS INTEREST IN VOTING MACHINES- SIGN THE PETITION

SIGN THE PETITION AT:http://www.credoaction.com OR google "Voting machines tied to the Romneys could decide the election in Ohio"

Voting machines tied to the Romneys could decide the election in Ohio

Could a voting machine company with deep financial ties to the Romney family help Republicans steal the presidential election in Ohio?

It could happen. If this year's presidential election comes down to the electoral votes in Ohio, the deciding votes could be cast on electronic voting machines manufactured by Hart Intercivic.

Tell the Department of Justice: Don't let Republicans steal the election in Ohio with Romney-owned voting machines.

A 2007 study conducted by Ohio's Secretary of State showed that Hart Intercivic's touch screen voting machines could be easily corrupted. The New York Times reported:

At polling stations, teams working on the study were able to pick locks to access memory cards and use hand-held devices to plug false vote counts into machines. At boards of election, they were able to introduce malignant software into servers.1

Hart Intercivic is majority owned by H.I.G. Capital which controls two of the five seats on the Hart Intercivic board. An investment fund with deep ties to the Romney family and the Mitt Romney for president campaign, H.I.G. Capital was founded by Tony Tamer, a major bundler for the Romney campaign, and it is one of the largest partners of Solamere Capital, an investment fund founded by Tagg Romney and Spencer Zwick, Mitt Romney's chief fundraiser from the 2008 presidential campaign.2 This makes the Romney family part owner of the voting machine company, through it's interest in H.I.G. Capital.

Tell the Department of Justice: Don't let Republicans steal the election in Ohio with Romney-owned voting machines.

What's more, three other H.I.G. Capital directors are major fundraisers for the Romney campaign, and H.I.G. Capital is the 11th largest contributor to the Mitt Romney campaign.3 Two of the company's directors, Douglas Berman and Brian Schwartz, were even in attendance at the Boca Raton fundraiser4 where Romney infamously declared:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what... who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it... These are people who pay no income tax...[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.5

And as if the ties between Tagg Romney's Solamere, Romney contributors at H.I.G. Capital, and Hart Intercivic weren't astonishing enough, two members of Hart Intercivic's 5-member board of directors made direct contributions to the Romney campaign. That's right. Directors of the company that makes touchscreen voting machines that could decide the presidential election in Ohio, have made contributions to the Mitt Romney for President campaign.

It is disturbing and dangerous that Hart Intercivic, the company that makes the machines that will count many of the votes in Ohio on election night has deep financial ties to family members of Mitt Romney. And that its leadership has been actively involved presidential campaign by donating and bundling hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Mitt Romney. The fact that these machines are easily corruptible touch screen voting machines makes matters even worse.

Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama are locked in a tight election race which could very well be decided by Ohio's 18 electoral votes. We must take action now.

Thank you for all you do to protect the integrity of our Democracy.

Romney and Lying Ryan for repeal of Roe v Wade, lack of work so the rich can sit back and pay their 14% tax rate with loopholes on money mommy and daddy left them ( along with off-shore hidden accounts), for lies about Jeep moving to China, for being behind 28% in his home state where the voters already know his lies and for flip-flopping record that he has set leaving us all wondering what he really or what they really believe in!

Obama/Biden 2012 Four more years to finish the recovery and not take us back to trickle down economic! It didn't work for bush, there's that word again, and it will never work!

My guess is that none of the 600 small business owners whose businesses suddenly flat-lined and collapsed in my home State in a period of two months during the summer/fall of 2008 will be voting for Bush/Cheney - I mean Romney/Ryan - or ANY GOP/TP this time around.

Obama will win if we get out the vote, and looks like we will. Romney has been caught in so many lies that the few good people in the Republican party are probably rethinking their party affiliation. I just hope the tea baggers get a little patriotism and start working with President Obama.

Here's what the non partisan Congressional Research Service has to say about cutting taxes to increase income. (Summary below)

Throughout the late-1940s and 1950s, the top marginal tax rate was typically above 90%; today it is 35%. Additionally, the top capital gains tax rate was 25% in the 1950s and 1960s, 35% in the 1970s; today it is 15%. The real GDP growth rate averaged 4.2% and real per capita GDP increased annually by 2.4% in the 1950s. In the 2000s, the average real GDP growth rate was 1.7% and real per capita GDP increased annually by less than 1%.

There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.

The share of income accruing to the top 0.1% of U.S. families increased from 4.2% in 1945 to 12.3% by 2007 before falling to 9.2% due to the 2007-2009 recession. The evidence does not suggest necessarily a relationship between tax policy with regard to the top tax rates and the size of the economic pie, but there may be a relationship to how the economic pie is sliced.

Since Romney's whole platform is refuted by these findings, Senator Mitch McConnell (R) blocked the release of the Report. It surfaced again in the Nov 1 2012 New York Times.

The President's efforts to solve our unemployment problem and to control the deficit have not worked. The President's economic plan for the next four years is devoid of detail and budget and is mathematically impossible.

The Obama administration document on the stimulus stated what the stimulus was designed to do. According to that document if the stimulus were passed unemployment would not go above 8%. That did not happen. The Obama administration created and used this document to sell the stimulus spending bill as the solution to the nations unemployment problems. The stimulus did not solve our unemployment problem. According to that official administration document if the stimulus did its job as it was designed then unemployment should now be well below 6%. Furthermore, if the stimulus bill had done its job then the President would not have to propose a second stimulus. The numbers in that document were not presented as speculation, they were presented as specification. This official Obama administration document said what the stimulus was going to do. Clearly what the Obama administration said would happen did not happen.

To me, reelecting the President means 4 more years of the same just hoping that things change. The President's new program to fix the the economy is just more of his same on going program to fix the economy. My biggest concern is all of the debt that has been building up. I estimate that an additional 5 trillion dollars of debt will end up costing the tax payers 50 trillion dollars to repay in 180 years. I agree with the President when he stated:

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans–a debt tax that Washington doesn’t want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.

Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

          ~ Senator B. H. Obama, March 2006

While the rest of America is praising FEMA for its quick response to the Sandy disaster, I just heard some guy over at FOX quoted as saying that FEMA was not doing things fast enough, "like getting generators to people."

            Come on, people.

I know that Mitt Romney wants to get rid of FEMA, but anytime there is a disaster, States are crying out for FEMA to get there. Those folks at FEMA are working their tails off to help people, and the GOP/Tea Party cannot even give credit where credit is due.

Like fixing the economy catastrophe that Bush/Cheney created ... GOP/TP blames the President for "not fixing it fast enough."

Now, they blame FEMA instead of praising them.

            Typical.

Hey, Truth-less Con - I think most Americans are aware of this fact - it's the Republican'ts who have refused to work with the President.

For example, before Congress adjourned for this fall campaign...the Republican'ts even refused to pass veterans job bill to help our veterans....I guess the GOP just wants to send our soldiers to die on the battlefield, but not to help them when they are actually home.

It's just an irony and sad that many of our veterans still want to vote for the GOP.

You are so wrong - Obama's white like you and enacting heath care for all American;s, equal pay for women, ending the Bush Iraq war responsibly, capturing and killing Osama Bin Laden, preventing a entire U.S. financial collapse, holding Wall Street responsible, etc don't sound like failures in any body's book!

Please do your stupid middle-class #ss a favor and vote Obama/Biden if your given the opportunity!

Obama should NOT allow the GOP, nor Romney, nor Ryan to blame the debt and the slow economy on him...

                  I know this much...

The President does NOT pass jobs legislation. He just signs them.

Growth only happens if the "GOP owned congress" puts bills on the table to sign.

The uncompromising GOP has blocked, stopped, voted NO, obstructed, filibustered over 500 times and made pledges to NOT create jobs or bring cash to the government just to blame ONE man.

The GOP lies and do not tell "we the people" that their policies are at fault.

ALL GOP Policies are at fault because everything is directly involved with them.

Why don't we ask Mr. Romney to do this...

                  Let's do some ARITHMETIC...

#1... Name the "Obama" POLICIES and the AMOUNTS that you say added trillions to the debt and “ADD” those amounts.

#2...“DEDUCT” that Obama total from the current $16 TRILLION.

                  The balance = “GOP” spending.

                  DO Remember the following….

Expenses to “FIX” the GOP failed policies like TARP and the stimulus are still GOP spending and NOT Obama's fault so DO NOT count those policies.

All expenses from the previous GOP administration's “UNFUNDED” policies that Obama ADDED to his budget are ALSO Republican spending. NOT BO's

The INTEREST on the GOP TRILLIONS of debt is NOT for Obama to be responsible for either, it is GOP spending too. NOT BO's

                  The GOP “OWNS” that interest.

                  Also,

The “Bailouts” ARE “loans” to REPAIR more GOP screwed up policies. The GOP wanted those to be FREE of charge didn't they? It was a "going away gift" to the Banks and Wall Street from Bush. Obama made them loans.

Do not add policies before Reagan because there was NO DEBT PROBLEM before that, Reagan took office when the DEBT had ONE TRILLION and could have been tackled and fixed with comprehensive tax reform but Reagan did the opposite..

“Entitlements” are a tiny fraction of the debt and they always bring their own revenues through payroll deductions as premium payments. Entitlements are NOT free, it's paid-into insurance.

                  Be sure of this….

The Republicans will try blaming a Democratic majority that never actually had “control”.

Saying that the Democrats had a "Majority" doesn't count as “control”, because we all know the GOP had the "CONTROL" with their record filibusters and obstructions.

The President should remind "We the People" that "Total Control" is having a "Filibuster proof majority". The Democrats only had it for 5 months. After Teddy died, the Republicans went on a filibuster frenzy and BLOCKED everything.

All those failed GOP policies were drafted by Republicans AND all passed with GOP majority of votes going back to Reagan.

The Republicans will NEVER have policies or numbers to blame the national debt on the Democrats because they DO NOT exist.

Look them up, I tried. They're all GOP drafted policies.

DO NOT call them "spending" if you cannot name the policies.

Every single policy at fault is GOP owned, drafted and vigorously voted by Republicans.

DO NOT get fooled into thinking it is Obama's fault.

NOW is the time to stop that Myth.

                  Watch out for the following….

The Republicans and the Fox-Rush-bots are going to try to change the subject and attack the truth with insults, diversions and ridicules.

The Republicans will ask for budgets, but no one can pass budgets without Revenues. The GOP PLEDGED to NEVER raise revenues.

The Republicans will mention "bills" that are on Reid's desk. I saw all those bills. NONE are for jobs or to fix the economy. ALL of those are for reducing regulations for the rich, cutting public services, more tax cuts for corporations etc.

The Republicans will blame gas prices on Obama but will fail to explain why a President seeking re-election would do that or how he could actually influence that.

This is a WIN WIN on talks about the economy. Use it. Challenge every Republican. It will drive them mad with ZERO response.

This is NOT blaming the GOP or BUSH, this is history and ARITHMETIC!

The economy is on the President's side and the GOP's nightmare if the actual facts are told.

                  Remember this...

The RNC had a huge sign that said "We built it" and underneath there was the $16 TRILLION debt clock.

                  Answer this question…

“What has the GOP done for America in the last 40 years besides LIE to get elected into power?

                  BO / Biden 2012.

Even if you were correct (and you're not) that Obama's inability to keep his promises was due to lack of Republican support; so what! It doesn't matter who is to blame. Obama couldn't make progress in his first term; why would anyone imagine he could do any better during a second term. A Romney administration will not have to deal with Obama's fictional problem and will, therefore, be far more effective.

Fictional problem? A Republican Party that abandons positions that it once believed in simply for sake of opposing the President and you call it a ficitional problem?

All who decry a dysfunctional Washington and vote for Mr. Romney are rewarding that dysfunction.

KANNIN, Oh yea??? How about if a Democratic controlled Senate pulls the same stonewalling stunt that your House of Representatives did??? Your crowd will be screaming treason from the roof tops. What your party did and especially the Tea Crazies, is downright criminal. They made a conscience decision to obstruct EVERY SINGLE piece of legislation that Obama promoted. And this includes some of the very legislation that the GOP was champioing prior to Obama becoming president. Nothing less than criminal.

Every president has to transcend partisan politics. Some are good at it and some, like Obama, are absolute failures.

JFK, despite his faults, was probably the last president we have had that was truly capable of shrugging off the inevitable attacks, calming the conflicts, and inspiring all Americans to put their differences aside and work toward common goals.

By contrast, Obama has fought bitterly against those who would criticize him, ignited conflict, and emphasized the differences among us.

“This country has become so polarized that its almost astonishing…. Not only with the red and blue states… President Obama suffers from the most polarized situation in Washington that we have ever seen – even maybe than the time of Abraham Lincoln and the initiation of the war between the states.” -Jimmy Carter

Even MSNBC has reported: "In 2008, Barack Obama, as a presidential candidate, made changing that culture (of divisiveness) a signature objective; if anything, it has grown more dysfunctional during his presidency."

Are you suggesting that because all those nasty Republicans were mean to him, little Barry deserves a “do-over?” This is our country we're talking about, not grade school. When Obama blames Republicans for his first-term failures, he is admitting that he would be equally incompetent in a second term: He is not getting any better at creating consensus, Republicans are not going to magically disappear, and his socialist plans for our economy are still going to be unacceptable to conservatives.

The GOP Created huge deficits, started unfunded wars, sold us out to China, Stole from Medicare and Social Security, unfunded tax cuts, bogus loopholes, destroying Unions (in progress), wage freezes, regulation manipulation, etc.

They have been on a middle class crushing marathon, and still going at it.

Should the very worst happen and Romney lies, suppresses the vote and snatches "victory" from voters and gets elected, 2008 will look like a walk in the park.

This country will not be a livable place.

We can look forward to a collapsing Medicare program, a stripped Medicaid program, hungry Americans due to a stripped food stamp program, women stripped of rights to their own health care decisions, and college students who can no longer afford college due to drastically increased interest on student loans if they are even available. We can look forward to wars in Iran and Syria, because war is good business for Mitt's buddies. Go ahead and vote for another republican president! I'm sure they have another recession or depression in them! And they will laugh at the sinking middle class and poor while they count their money!

Canada and Mexico will have to close their borders by 2014 because of Americans running away from servitude.

It will be the end of the greatest country on earth - By 2016 The USA will be a shell Corporation and China will be the largest stockholder.

This nation cannot afford any more years of GOP obstruction.

I'm just a blog reader that's trying to make your comment make sense....not easy , when I see a line like 'little Barry' when describing the President of the United States of America.

Obama had full control for the first 2 years and didn't get crap done except spend an ungodly amount of money. All he's done is prove you can't spend your way out of poverty. I'm sure you believe all the crap your spreading but most people can see it's not working.

The only thing Obama is coming close to accomplishing is bankrupting America. When he does it the 47% will lose their checks and food stamps.

No give me some rational reason I'd want to vote for a guy that will take away what I worked for and then blame George Bush for it???

George Bush didn't borrow 6.5 trillion dollars in the last 3.5 years and put America on the edge of the financial cliff!

Probably the most important characteristic a good president must have is the ability to create consensus and harmony among the different factions in government, and in the country as a whole.

For whatever reason, Obama has been a total failure at bringing people together.

Heap blame and scorn on whomever you now consider to be your mortal enemy: GOP, Liberals, Tea Party, Rich, Poor, it doesn't matter. It is the very fact that we are so divided that must be laid at Obama's feet.

He has driven our country apart.

KANNIN, yea, Dubya was a master at bringing the nation together. LOL And this after 9/11 when the ENTIRE NATION, not just Republicans gave him the benefit of the doubt.

You think Willard brings people together??? Go check out his record in Massachussetts, where he is detested. He left office with a 35% approval rating which is one major reason he did not run for re-election. The senate in Mass. overrode dozens and dozens of his vetoes they were enamored with him. A complete and utter phoney. This is the guy who was Pro Choice, Pro Gun Control, Pro Stem Cell research, pro Patherway to citizenship for undocumenteds, acknowledged Climate Change, and refused to sign Nazi Grover Norquest's tax pledge and opposed the Bush tax cuts. Every single one of these and many more he's doubled back on. Real profiles in courage.

Obama's "my way or the highway" approach to negotiation (remember "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back") made it clear he wasn't going to change. When he used his super-majority in the House and Senate to push through bills that not a single Republican could support, his response was to call them "the party of no." While many Democrats picked up that little slogan - further deepening the rift in the legislature - Obama never stopped to consider that by totally rejecting Republican concerns, he was creating a deep smoldering resentment in the people he had so disrespected. A resentment that would come back to bite him when the American people repudiated one-party government in 2010.

You are right Kannin, we are so divided, but it is not Obama's fault. The Republicans met the day after Obama's inauguration 4 years ago and pledged to do whatever they could to make him a one-term president. As a result, over the last 4 years the Repubs blocked every single bill, particularly jobs bills, that would have helped ordinary Americans emerge from this failing economy ahead. But your Republicans blocked every single bill, a record breaking number of fillibusters, all for the sake of making Obama a failed president, nevermind compromising on something to help struggling Americans.

It is the House Republicans who have divided this country, not Obama.

It was clear on day one that Obama's socialist policies and fiscal irresponsibility were bad for the country. It was clear that the longer he had to work his mischief the worse it would be. Hence making him a one-term president was best for the country.

Kannin, it sounds to me like you didn't want to even give Obama a chance once he got into office. You already made up your mind he was a failure, and nevermind see what he could do for our country.

I'll tell you something Kannin, he helped my rural town in Colorado once he passed the ARRA - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. You may or may not have read my posts on this vine that I have posted here repeatedly. Because of ARRA, my town has new sewer and water lines that my town otherwise could not have afforded. Until 2010, I only had the option of a 21k dial-up internet connection or $80 a month for satellite internet service. Because of ARRA, I now have a $40 a month (for life) satellite internet connection and didn't have to pay for equipment or installation ($400).

Because of the Affordable Care Act, I no longer have to pay 50% for preventive care. It is now paid at 100% by my PRIVATE insurance company - no more out of pocket for those costs.

All of this occurred before your House Republicans took control in 2010. Now progress for the middle class people like myself has stopped, all because of the fillibustering of the House.

Olympia Snowe had enough with her party's antics. Should tell you something Kannin, when Mitch McConnell states that the Republican goal was to make the President a one term President that certainly told me that the next four years were going to be miserable for the American people because the Republicans were going flat out refuse to work with the President. 500 filibusters from the Party of no: Equal Work for Equal Pay, a no brainer but voted No by Republicans, why? a documented fact women make 72 cents on the dollar while make 100 cents to the dollar, Violence Against Women Act, another no brainer, Boehner will not bring it to the floor for a vote, why?

you miss the point that nothing Obama could do with win over Republicans. If he turned out to be the second coming of Regan they still would have spat in his face at every turn. That is the reality of it.

Kannin, I know you were talking to Geowil, but I want to answer your question. It's not what Obama will do, it's what the Congress can/will do. If Congress can meet in the middle (mainly, at the moment House Republicans) and at least make an attempt to compromise, THAT will help Obama's (hopeful) second term be better than his first.

Kannin, I want to tell you that I have respect for you and your arguments. So many here (on both sides) argue with insults. You put forth your opinions without insults, and I appreciate and respect that.

But at the start of the new season, its only his performance that matters. It doesn't matter who is to blame. Time to fire a losing coach, and hire a competent one in his place.

Kannin...do NOT forget the first meeting Obama had with the majority/minority leaders of congress. When the miniority leader of the House wanted to speak Obama said" No, I OWN". He NEVER gave them a chance to even speak. If anyone thinks that this mentality has left Obama they are sadly mistaken. It has increased. If the Democrats think that with a majority they will be in control they are wrong. Obama will get/do anything he wants with Executive Orders. Just all stop and think about that before you vote.

I read the President's economic plan for the next four years. The Plan is devoid of detail to include budget. It appears to be primarily a wish list. It seems that the President wants the federal government to spend a lot of money that it does not have to train math and science teacher's to teach vocational classes at the JC level for jobs that do not really exist in this country. Foreign manufacturers are paying their workers roughly a tenth of the minimum that our workers require and that is why they can always beat domestic manufactures on price. Neither candidate seems to have a solution for this problem. It is our huge trade deficit that is degrading efforts to revive the economy by injecting more money.

In many states, state colleges and universities are having to raise tuition to make ends meet because of tighter state budgets. The President wants to withdrew federal funding from these schools so that they either have to raise tuition even more or close down facilities. The President thinks that this effort will help improve the quality of education in America.

The President is expecting to pass his increased taxes on the "Rich". He has been trying to do that for the past four years but he somehow thinks the can prevail in the next 4 years. This tax will at best take 100 billion dollars per year from the private sector and put it into the public sector. The President promised that the 2012 federal deficit would not exceed 229.27 billion dollars yet the actual deficit exceeded 1.1 trillion dollars so his efforts to date to cut the deficit have been less than successful. He is proposing more spending and unspecified cuts and which has been provided it is impossible that any actually deficit reduction will take place. So I am looking at a nominal annual deficit of 1 trillion dollars assuming the increased taxes on the "rich" passes.

At the heart of the President's plan is the idea of bringing the troops home in 2014 and with the savings use half of it to start paying down our debt and use the other half for infrastructure improvements. To start paying down the debt the federal government has to run a surplus. To run a surplus with half of the piece dividend, the federal government will have to realize a savings of more than 2 trillion dollars per year from bringing the troops home. That amount is more than twice a s much as we are paying for defense including all overseas operations. The President's plan is mathematically impossible. Mathematically impossible plans are at the least less than viable. The President's plan is an example of fantasy economics.

My biggest concern is all the debt that our federal government has been accumulating. With a debt or more than 16 trillion dollars and huge deficits predicted for at least another decade, I estimate that the money that the federal government is borrowing today will end up costing the tax payers more than 10 times the amount borrowed to repay over the next 180 years. Paying 10 times the going rate for goods and services is not good management. The President has yet to present a detailed plan for repaying the debt. The tax payers have a right to know how much all of this federal borrowing to going to end up costing them.

Facts baby, Facts: Myth Romney, who is now the "Leader of the non-working, do nothing, filibustering GOP controlled congress with an all time low approval of 7%."
This nation cannot afford four more years of GOP obstructio

If you remember back to 1952, you're probably in the first stages of dementia. Please don't jeopardize the future of your grandchildren and great grandchildren to the likes of a dictator that is destroying our country that you have enjoyed.

The future of anyone's children or grandchildren will be in much better hands with Obama as president. If Mitt Robme becomes president, the less fortunate will no longer have Medicare or Social Security!

And for those against socialism, what is so wrong with helping those less fortunate? The way many of you conservatives think, "To hell with the poor and unfortunate, if you can't make it on your own then too bad!" Doesn't sound very Christian-like to me!

I'm against socialism and I'll be happy to tell you why. I work hard for my money and for what I own. Why should I continue to work hard only to have it taken away by the government and given to someone who is lazy and refuses to work?

With that mentality, wouldn't I be better off to quit work and let the government take money from another hard worker and give it to me for doing nothing? And then when that hard worker gets tired of his money going to me then he'll quit work and collect welfare and food stamps and on and on and on.

That's why socialism and communism doesn't work because people wont work when they can get something for nothing. They should do away with all welfare, food stamps, WIC and every other free handout that's paid for with my tax dollars. People need to be responsible for themselves and not leech off of hard working Americans. If you don't work, you starve, simple as that.

So you would be happy to let people fend for themselves, would you like to see your children in sweatshops working for their meals. How about we have our senior citizens working until they die, to bad you are sick & don't have the strength to get out of bed, oh well guess you can't eat today. How about if something happens to you, say you get hurt & can't work, pay your bills, if there is nothing that allows you to fall back on to help out, I guess you will be living on the streets starving.

                        The Narcissistic Amateur...

This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy - though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity. Back in January 2008, Barack Obama told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, "If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them." He added, "Under my plan ... electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." It was also in 2008 that Mr. Obama's future Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, famously said it would be necessary to "figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe" - $9 a gallon.

Yet the president now claims he's in favor of oil development and pipelines, taking credit for increased oil production on private lands where he's powerless to block it, after he halted the Keystone XL Pipeline and oversaw a 50 percent reduction in oil leases on public lands.

These behaviors go far beyond "spin." They amount to a pack of lies. To return to office a narcissistic amateur who seeks to ride this nation's economy and international esteem to oblivion, like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb to its target at the end of the movie "Dr. Strangelove," would be disastrous.

Candidate Obama said if he couldn't fix the economy in four years, his would be a one-term presidency.

Mitt Romney is moral, capable and responsible man. Just this once, it's time to hold Barack Obama to his word. Maybe we can all do something about that, come Tuesday. -- Las Vegas Review Journal.. Nevada's largest newspaper

We import less oil today than four years ago.

Gas was $4 a gallon in July of 2008.

Please tell me why natural Gas is making Coal obsolete and why private enterprise will not spend the money to make clean coal energy--can be done, is it better to keep digging and polluting while cheaper and cleaner energy sources are available?

Don't potential voters get kinda offended when they hear lies coming from Romney like "Half of all green projects have failed" or "there are 23 million people out of work"? He assumes, apparently, that anyone who is educated about the issues knows the real score, and will not vote for Romney. He is targeting the ill-informed voters who are too lazy to research facts and therefore realize he is just plain lying.

GOP believes they have a mandate from God to win this election, so lying is forgiven in this instance as the ends justify the means. They forget that the only mandate in America comes from THE PEOPLE. God has nothing to do with it. Paul Ryan cannot wrap his little mind around this fact. He said in the debate he cannot seperate church from state.

Let's look at Lybia, who's lying? The facts are the President is the Commander and Chief and the buck stops at his feet. He failed to protect his own then had to get Hillary to cover for him.

A good President would be in New Jersey and New York helping, ensuring things get done. Where is he, trying to protect his job. The American people are more important than trying to get Florida, Ohio, Virginia votes. I would think more of him for helping that looking for votes.

Ambassador Stevens believed strongly that an attack was likely, and made multiple unambiguous requests for additional security in Libya.

In June 2012, the Consulate in Benghazi, Libya was damaged by an improvised explosive device. Stevens reported to his superiors that an Islamist group (Ansar al-Shariah?) had claimed credit for the attack. Shortly after that a British Embassy convoy in Benghazi was also attacked. And again, Ambassador Stevens requested more security forces for Benghazi.

Karen Keshap and Shawn P. Crowley, State Department employees, as well as Eric Nordstrom the State Department's Regional Security Officer, all made multiple complaints about the inadequate security in Benghazi. Crowley, had even apologized in an email for "being a broken record" on the subject of inadequate security in Benghazi.

In response to all these requests, the Obama Administration refused to increase security at the US Consulate in Benghazi, at all.

On the morning of September 11, Ambassador Stevens signed a three-page cable, labeled "sensitive," in which he noted "growing problems with security" in Benghazi. As before, he was ignored.

As a direct result of Obama's arrogance and incompetence, four Americans died! And now he is engaged in the most frantic coverup since Watergate.

And I'd remind you that Obama succeed in Libya with the loss of ZERO American lives and beyond that, killed Ghadafi, the monster who murdered nearly 300 Americans all those years ago. I'd say a far better return on investment than the 4500 dead and 25,000 grieviously wounded in Iraq.

How did Obama lie about "Lybia" again?

Obama was a total failure on all aspects of the Benghazi attack. He didn't anticipate it. Our Ambassador did anticipate it and requested more security. Obama turned him down. While the attack was underway, Obama refused to allow any help to be sent to the Diplomatic Mission.

But now it comes out that Obama knew it was a terrorist attack. Had he told the truth at the time, he would have been admitting that he had committed a huge error in judgment not to grant the consulate's security request on the anniversary of 9/11. To prevent that, Obama deliberately mischaracterized the attack as a “spontaneous demonstration.” He had a great deal of motivation to call it spontaneous.

It is said “never attribute to malice, that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” That's why I referred to Obama's actions as an “error in judgment,” rather than “negligent homicide.”

For four years, things have cooled down. Until Romney started touring the middle east and Europe, then things got bad again."

It was ironic How many people were bussed in from other states or drove from other states to this location. As far as the three other people I was with that had the same type of shirt on and another friend with a Big bird shirt none of us got in because they would not allow it. They saw the shirt I was wearing and I received Profanity after profanity and actually several idiots trying to bump me.Some idiots tried to spit at me and the cop actually turned to me and said you need to move along. The lady that was in our group actually was tripped and some @!$%# was trying to walk on her. We regrouped and it was very strange because we got the feeling the Guard were trying to get us to move to another location and ended up being in a large group of people with shirts like Romnesia and 47 percent'er and Let Detroit go Bankrupt, Lying Ryan ETC. We didn't stay to long seems like after Kid rock got off the stage a Bunch of people just turned around and left. Some people actually were cheering the shirts we had they made us toss our signs but some still had signs. The News group were there in vans filming Just the idiots on stage and cherry picking people out to interview it seemed none of the news groups really talked to us personally but they did talk to some who where there not to support Romney but to Support Obama like we were.

This crowd or so they say was not the 30,000 they said it was I have seen crowds much bigger at Obama events here in Ohio. I'd say the crowd was maybe 18,000 and that was counting the groups like the ones we ended up in. I would say atleast 1100 people maybe more were there to Support Obama. There is going to be another Obama rally soon and we will be going to that as well. I hope to see as many supporters if not more then what we had in 2008 for the Obama rally on Sunday.

Obama wanted the military cuts, and with the tax increases we will have less jobs since NOBODY here ever got a job from a poor person. DUH.

Hey Willard, While lying to the people of Ohio, do you remember the people of the State of Massachusetts? you know the place you were governor, doing such a great job for the people of Massachusetts, crossing party lines, working with Democrats to get the job done. RIGHT...the people of Massachusetts remembers you well Willard, and they will not have nothing to do with you.

Willard you said you did such a great job up there (Massachusetts). I were wondering why the polls up there showing different, to the people of Ohio, I will say to you, take look, a close look at the polls. The people of Massachusetts has spoken.

He passed a health care mandate they hated and so did Obama. States can experiment, the federal gov. is NOT supposed to act like a supreme ruler. A state record that is VASTLY superior to Obama's failed policies and WASTE of YOUR money. Yeah, Obama is definitely your guy.

Uh, and what kind of campaign has Willard been running, a clean one???

And in case you've forgotten, when Dubya ran for reelection, he ran as dirty a campaign as I've ever seen. Quit whining, politics ain't soft ball and your crowd has dished out more than your share of dirt.

And I along with many, many millions of Americans think that Obama is a pretty darn classy guy, far more so than a shameless, draft dodging, tax cheating, spineless bum who was born with a silver broom up his ass.

Romney brother bought the election voting machines that will be used in swing states. Brother works at Bain Capital. Go ahead and google it because it is there. I say this is a clear conflict of interest and Romney is still trying to steal the election by fixing the voting number results. If they cannot keep people away at the polls they buy the machines. This is so low and stupid that anyone that votes for Romney is as dishonest as he is in their own life. If you support Obama then get out and vote, but also vote for the Democrats to re-take the House of Representatives away from Boehner and McConnel that do nothing but block every bill. If you are tired of the Congress that does nothing, then vote Democrat or you will get just a repeat of the last four years. It will be gridlock again for 48 months so vote for Obama and then also Democrats for the House and Senate. Don't forget now google those voting machines purchased by Romney to verify my comments.

JoAnn...you people have to get your stories straight. I have seen here today two different of Romney's sons that own the same voting machines that you say that his brother owns. Then along comes someone else that says the Koch brothers own those machines. Get your stories straight people. Soros did say he owns the voting machines in WI. He also said the machines could NOT be set to favor one party. However, with that said, in 4 counties when you press Romney Obama is given credit and you have to have an election judges fix it for you.

500,000 more jobs today than on January 20th, 2009...despite the fact that this economy shed 2,000,000 jobs in February, March, April, and May of that year!

Better than LOSING 500,000...or even 700,000 jobs a month like when Obama was sworn in eh?

"Are we better off than four years ago?". You mean when our economy was in freefall? When it was losing 700,000+ jobs a month?

Republicans love including the job losses that were occurring during the first several months when Obama took office, but Republicans won't take responsibility for 9/11.... 9 months into Bush's term. One thing that Republican Presidents are good at is taking vacation. As governor, Romney was cut from the same cloth. Hey Governor, why no second term?

You have been completely duped by the Republican propaganda machine with regards to the Benghazi tragedy. Do your own research and you will find the truth. There is no conspiracy, it is all Republican spin and the Republican have politicize the Benghazi!

The Iraq War and the other unfunded spending put U.S in dire straights with the greatest spending binge since World War II. Don't you remember Dick Cheney's "deficits don't matter philosophy." Don't try and blame it President Obama.

Obama inherited an utter disaster, the worst financial crisis in 80 years, the worst since the Great Depression, with twice as many jobs lost as any of other 10 ten recessions since the Great Depression. Obama inherited the Great Recession, along with two unfunded wars and the unfunded tax cuts of 2001 & 2003, and other unfunded spending, all of which had been adding to the budget deficits and national debt long before Obama took office. Just pointing out the highly difficult situation President Obama was handed when he took office is not blaming the previous administration.

The Great Recession has caused the loss of two trillions dollars in federal revenue(2008-2012). In addition at least two trillion dollars has been spent as a result of the need to counteract the effects of the Great Recession and it's aftermath. Such as the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 02/2009(the stimulus), unemployment insurance extensions, extension of the Bush tax cuts, payroll tax cuts & their extension, increased use of food stamps(SNAP) & other welfare programs and so on. The above accounts for more than four trillion dollars of the national debt added since President Obama took office.

Also, we are still fighting one of those unfunded wars and have been for over ten years, including the entire time that Obama has been in office. This is also adding to the national debt. So when people say Obama has been on a big spending binge, it simply is not true.

Benghazi was real - no spin! If you follow the beginning of the attack and was happened in those 8 hours during the attack, it is very sad that our government, including Obama watched in real time as these attacks were occurring and decided not to pursue it for political reasons. More should be out there for people to hear and see, but of course the main stream media is supressing all the information because of the election. You will know the truth after the election and be surprised that our President wasn't engaged and was more concerned about where he was going to live in November. Obama shows his mind is on his campaign and nothing else as he comes off of airforce one talking on a cell phone and giving a disrespectful salute to our service people who would take a bullet for him. He is just an arrogant individual and needs to go!

Kathy: I agree except the disfuncionality of our government is not really news nor partisan. I haven't seen a president in decades that will make the bureaucracies function. Our government is broken and I guess fixing it is not part of the job description of a president because they refuse to do it. As for the media it is in worse shap than the government. Any media that would give Bush a pass on weapons of mass destruction needs dirt shoved over it. Obama needs to go, for many reasons. All of us have to be amazed at the money he has been able to borrow. If borrowing and printing money was all a president had to do to get out of the jamb we are in then Elmo could be president. He certainly has celebrity. What shocks me is the way presidents have been allowed to ignore the law and their duties to "Defend the laws of the United States of America." Kings don't get away with this.

The shipyard I worked had a private contractor, General Electric hire us to refuel their Nuclear Power Plant. FEMA is helping the victims of the hurricane. I don't think you know much about what you speak.
