Obama speaking 'from his loins,' top adviser says

President Barack Obama is so fired up about the last stretch of this election that his stump speech is "coming from his loins," top campaign adviser David Axelrod told reporters Friday.

Axelrod made the comment during an impromptu briefing with reporters in Lima, Ohio, along with senior White House adviser David Plouffe

Responding to this reporter’s question, "Can you tell us how the president feels right now?" Axelrod responded: "I can say I've known him for 20 years, we’ve worked closely for 10 years; I’ve never seen him more exhilarated than he is right now."

Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP

Senior Campaign Adviser David Axelrod, left, and White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe, talk Friday during a campaign event for President Barack Obama at Springfield High School in Springfield, Ohio.

"You can see in the speech that he’s delivering that this is coming from his loins," he continued. As giggles emanated from the assembled press, he added, jokingly, "I just wanted to say loins."

Despite the light moment, the advisers spent most of the gaggle drilling down into homestretch campaign strategy.

The Obama team was specifically asked about the fact Republican Mitt Romney’s campaign is making a late run for Pennsylvania, evidenced by Romney visiting there Sunday.

Axelrod suggested Romney’s late play for the Keystone state was a result of the Republicans' dwindling hopes in all-important Ohio.

"The fact is their campaign had a car wreck in Ohio and now they’re trying to make up for it in Pennsylvania," he said.

The comment was a clear reference to Romney’s opposition to the auto bailout, which resonates with Ohio voters. But when pressed about why the Obama team would send former President Bill Clinton to Pennsylvania this weekend if they are so confident, Axelrod replied: "All it reflects is our prudence that we’re going to defend what we have."

Plouffe pointed to the fact that there are about a million more Democrats registered in Pennsylvania than Republicans. Still polls show the race is tightening in Pennsylvania with both campaigns pouring money into advertising there – a sign there is at least some unease within the Obama campaign ranks.

The race is also close in Ohio where Obama spent the day hammering Romney for saying on the stump and in ads that Jeep planned to ship jobs to China. The claim has been widely discredited by the car company and newspapers throughout Ohio. Still, the Romney campaign stands by the claim arguing that the companies will eventually expand production overseas.

When a reporter asked the Obama campaign officials if they saw any tangible sign that Romney’s Jeep ad has hurt him in Ohio, Plouffe responded: "There is no bit of data that we’ve seen in this last week that makes us less confident."

Axelord quipped that reporters will have the answers to all their questions soon: "Everybody is fascinated to know what is going to happen on Tuesday; we're going to know on Tuesday."

Team Obama could not be more correct!

Do you want a President who speaks from his heart and loin or one who is a perfectly oiled weather vane?

President Obama has OUR backs, it's time to return the favor!

Team Willard is openly rooting for America to fail... WTF kind of leader is THAT?

Other than someone who doesn't give a @!$%# about half of this country...

President Barack Obama has fought and worked for the ordinary person his entire career.

RomneyRyan are running on a pack of LIES, and won't quit even when called out on their lies by Chrysler and G.M. and corporation heads.

RomneyRyan are just saying any old thing now, throwing the kitchen sink at it. It speaks to their lack of character and lack of integrity in a big way.

It is so authentic to have a leader who whole being is filled with love, compassion, and a clear vision.

We are truly fortunate to have President Obama at this time in history when the Conservatives and Neo-Cons want to turn back the hands of time.

What we need now is a list of the LIES RomneyRyan have told over the last cycle.

533 Romney lies documented in the 33 months before he was nominated.

Then Romney reamed off lie after lie in the debates, and got away with it.

Now on the stump, the pair of them just let whatever is on their tongue roll out. But Chrysler and G.M. have called them out good-style. The cat is outta the bag. These guys are big phoneys who are looking out just for themselves and the 0.01%-ers.

Loins? Brains? What's the difference? There ain't much there as it is. He has no understanding of economics. I think he still thinks that what businesses need is loans to hire people to grow their business regardless of whether it will get them any more income. I guess, to his credit, he admits that he knows nothing about business as he wants to create the position of Secretary of Business. The only problem with that is it's a guarantee that he will seek to put another socialist who knows nothing about business in the position. But, gotta give him credit, he knows that there are enough people who love his hate this segment of the economy, hate that segment of the economy, hate the private sector, etc. rants that they will vote for him. As has been said, the problem with liberalism is proving that it works. It's a lot easier to push for socialism and get votes than it is to enact socialist policies, which always fail, and get votes.

In case you hadn't noticed, people who claimed to know lots about business nearly cratered our economy in 2008. It took a "community organizer" to make the decision NOT to let the auto industry die. It took a Democrat to save the jobs of teachers, cops and firefighters through sending states stimulus money.

Is that why only 50% of recent college graduates have a job?? Why is it that 94% of the class of 2012 had to take out a student loan to pay for college?? Why has tuition skyrocketed placing education out of reach for alot of people??

The GOP needs to stop using the "welfare mothers" and "freeloading students" boogie men to frighten the American public into voting for "coddle the 1%" and maybe they'll make more jobs. The majority of those jobs are for accounts, lawyers and lobbyists, all of whom help move the riches of the 1% where it doesn't do this country any good.

Frustrating, huh?!?!?

limited government (i.e. let my cronies get away with their graft)

The GOP/Tea Tool party sucks at governing and economic stewardship. There's nothing even truly "conservative" about the GOP any more- what's "conservative" about:

borrow-and-spend

reckless wars

invasive social policy

or demolishing our once-proud governing institutions?

1. Birth control legislation/personhood

This is the GOP agenda of which they are so proud:

1. Tax Policy: Tax poor and working people but not the rich;

2. Wage Policy: Encourage wages in the U.S. to fall to third world levels;

3. Trade Policy: Pass trade laws that make it easy for companies to send jobs overseas;

4. Healthcare Policy: Pass laws that enable only insurance companies to control who gets health care (including seniors) and who doesn’t

5. Education Policy: Replace public education with out of pocket private schools and home schooling;

6. Infrastructure Policy: Refuse to invest in crumbling public infrastructure such as highways, bridges, and sewer systems;

7. Environmental Policy: Pass laws and weaken regulations that enable companies to pollute the environment;

8. Energy Policy: Pass laws that enable gas and oil production and prices to be controlled by a few large companies; Make sure that there is no longer any research or work on alternative energy sources; Keep defense spending high to protect non domestic oil production;

9. Civil Rights policy: Repress rights for women and minorities and repress voting participation;

10. Social Policy: Divide the American people on cultural issues (religion, sexual orientation, gun rights, etc);

11. Political Method: Instill fear in the American public through manufactured crises and created "boogeymen". Then attack political opponents by claiming to be more "patriotic" and the better keeper of "American Values" than they.

12. Voter Suppression: making it more difficult if not impossible for literally millions of ELIGIBLE voters to cast their ballots, which is flagrant vote tampering and corruption.

Why do you support the GOP?

Feisty, I sometimes cringe at some of your sallies; but they're more than offset by all the times you and your soul sister Bev make me want to jump out of my chair, pump my fist and give you a twenty-one-gun "F*** YEAH!" ... even though it scares my pugs when I do that.

It's good to see Talk to the Hand, Backhouse and Amy B. all here, too.

For several weeks, I've been flogging the same dead horse; asking the opposition to tell me how the Republican Party has improved their lot in life in the last four years, and to divulge to the eager audience what beliefs or principles their candidate has held to firmly and unflaggingly throughout his public life. So far, I've had no takers- just a couple of people complaining, with some justice, that I was being nasty and insulting. Guilty as charged, so in accordance with a sort of truce that I negotiated with Talk to the Hand, I'm going to "chill the f*** out" and just be civil. Until or unless I'm attacked.

I have something I want to throw out to y'all for your consideration. My lovely Canadian bride was watching a news show that showed some people in the street screaming abuse at each other- not unlike what we've seen (and done!) on this page. She has been remarking, all through the two-year long grind that is an American presidential race, that in her country it takes six weeks to elect a Prime Minister, and the only time you'll see people yelling and fighting, they're probably Quebecois, who do that whether there's an election involved or not. (OK, that was a joke for the benefit of those of you who have visited our big neighbour to the North.)

Does anybody else see that this is something our elections have mutated into ever since the advent of talk show trashfests like those presented by the slimy likes of Maury Povich, Montel Williams, and the thankfully inimitable Jerry Springer? When I was a kid in the Sixties and Seventies, there was a certain decorum that was maintained, a certain minimum level of dignity. All of that seems to have fallen by the wayside now, because the networks continuously force-feed us a steady and escalating diet of lies, slander and wild propaganda. Nobody is trying to win with the power of superior ideas or more effective policies; it's now degraded to nothing more than a shouting contest between two corporate whores.

It's a fact that 90% of the media outlets in this country are owned by just seven corporations, some of which are wholly or partially foreign owned- thank you, President Reagan- and our whole political process is being controlled and shaped by that fact. Does anybody else think it's just a little goddamned peculiar that NBC gives us daily updates on who is spending what, and where? We didn't used to think that the amount of money a candidate could raise and spend was his most important qualification; we used to pick our President based on who we thought we could trust. Once upon a time, we wanted our President to be somebody who would represent us with dignity and authority to the nations of the world, friend and foe alike. Once, we tried to pick a President who would use the power of his office to make this great, wonderful, free country a better place for our children than what we inherited from our grandparents.

Now we get Fox "News". I've run on too far anyway. Peace, y'all.

Evidently the Tea Tools don't want the deadbeats to pay for health insurance who can afford it- which is the main part of Obamacare. Obamacare will drive costs down because millions will have insurance now instead of abusing the emergency rooms and costing the taxpayers 10s of billions annually.

We all know the GOP wants everybody to own a AK-47......and no one to have health insurance!! LOL!!

What birth control legislation has the GOP introduced?

The Republican Spending Bill 2012..blocked by the Senate.

Calls for Planned Parenthood’s network of clinics, which serve millions of women across the country, from receiving NO federal money unless the health group agreed to no longer offer abortion services for which it uses no federal dollars — a patently unconstitutional provision.

The bill would also prevent implementation of most of the Affordable Care Act, wiping out its numerous advances for women’s health.

BTW:

The Catholic church and the Christian Taliban are only interested in fetuses. Once they become babies, they lose ALL interest...and defer the costs on the tax payer.

Search and see how homeless shelters, prisons, and foster homes are filled with unwanted children or adults who themselves were unwanted children.

Birth control and abortion is ALOT cheaper than housing unwanted children in foster homes...and then housing them in prisons and mental institutions when they turn into adults....all the while giving welfare to those struggling to survive.

Gold Bars - my only response to you is you are delusional with liberal talking points that simply have no basis in truth. Just because you repeat what you hear from other liberals doesn't make what you say any truer than what you heard or read.

If you support abortion, you should make a trip to your local abortion clinic... ask the doctor if you can handle the knife that slices and dices the fetus into ribbons. When the dead fetus is delivered, you can stand in awe of your handy work. Some people love looking at death... maybe you are one of them.

Have you ever thought of becoming a professional comedian? Who has the momentum? It's not Obama. You actually believe that an incumbent president can take a second term being under 50%? You don't know much about political science, do you?

I KNOW!!! You have been ignoring all the negatives that go in front of Obama... You really believe he's been walking on water and has made the oceans fall... You think Republicans and Independents think like you do? You are liberal... you have zero ability to recognize common sense and are closing your eyes and holding your breath...

How about this Tonybeeerm.... early voting has Romney ahead by over 7 points with independent voters... Independent voters are going to decide this election, not liberals.

Too bad Obama fled when the real work needed to get done in New Jersey. He could have learned what true grit really is..no whiners allowed. Typical.

The interesting thing with Obamacare, is that those demanding it, think they are "entitled" to a company wanting to offer it or stay in business.

The interesting thing with taxes, is that Obama thinks the NASTY wealthy will stay around and take the hit.

The interesting thing about not having leadership in the White House willing to address the elephant in the room, "Medicare," leaves a strong likelihood that the entire program will be 100% gone.

The interesting thing about the sex video ad that Obama and friends produced, is that there is no way he would want that to be his daughter as the actress. He chose a dumpy white girl, with zero sophistication.

The interesting thing about those of us currently carrying the debt for all the entitlements, is that in the not so distant future, we will say..."jokes on you"...and we will no longer work either. Then what?

But a note from the old Buzzie-Boy:

I was wondering why the righties think Obama should have cleaned up a massive economic crash that took 8 years to create in a measly 4 years (8 days, according to some detractors!), when I heard Hannity say today that Obama is total failure because he can't clothe, feed, and pump all the water out of all the basements of all of people on the East coast that took the hit from a hurriane in just 4 days! A hurricane, by the way, that was 900 miles in diameter, and brought a new record in high-water surge.

I think it has to do with their unending inability to get over 2008.

Our unemployment rate would be at 6% if the Congress had passed all of President Obama's spending bills.

12 major spending bills are sitting in Congress right now that should have been passed so President Obama could sign them into law.

Right wingers need to remind themselves of the GOP's obstructionism that has stopped the creation or saving of at least three million jobs.

The American jobs Act would have created or saved two million jobs.

The Small Business tax credit bill would have helped small business create at least one million jobs.

So for you math challenged right wingers you need to remember that the GOP's obstructionism and filibustering of bills has cost us three million jobs plus.

All we get are short term spending resolutions from this failed GOP Congress.

The GOP House failed to pass the Farm Bill:

The GOP House failed to pass the American Jobs Act last year as President Obama asked for in September, 2011. This cost our economy two million jobs:

The GOP in the Senate blocks the Small business tax credit bill that economists say would have created one million jobs in July, 2012.

The DO NOTHING, 9% approved GOP congress has a record 500+ filibusters to stop progress of any kind in the country.

All hurting millions of Americans to stop one man from keeping his job.

5 Ways Republicans Have Sabotaged Job Growth...

1. Filibustering the American Jobs Act.

Last October, Senate Republicans killeda jobs bill proposed by President Obama that would have pumped $447 billion into the economy. Multiple economic analysts predicted the bill would add around two million jobs and hailed it as defense against a double-dip recession. The Congressional Budget Office also scored it as a net deficit reducer over ten years, and the American public supported the bill.

2. Stonewalling monetary stimulus.

The Federal Reserve can do enormous good for a depressed economy through more aggressive monetary stimulus, and by tolerating a temporarily higher level of inflation. But with everything from Ron Paul’s anti-inflationary crusade to Rick Perry threatening to lynch Chairman Ben Bernanke, Republicans have browbeaten the Fed into not going down this path. Most damagingly, the GOP repeatedly held up President Obama’s nominations to the Federal Reserve Board during the critical months of the recession, leaving the board without the institutional clout it needed to help the economy.

3. Threatening a debt default.

Even though the country didn’t actually hit its debt ceiling last summer, the Republican threat to default on the United States’ outstanding obligations was sufficient to spook financial markets and do real damage to the economy.

4. Cutting discretionary spending in the debt ceiling deal.

The deal the GOP extracted as the price for avoiding default imposed around $900 billion in cuts over ten years. It included $30.5 billion in discretionary cuts in 2012 alone, costing the country 0.3 percent in economic growth and 323,000 jobs, according to estimates from the Economic Policy Institute. Starting in 2013, the deal will trigger another $1.2 trillion in cuts over ten years.

5. Cutting discretionary spending in the budget deal.

While not as cataclysmic as the debt ceiling brinksmanship, Republicans also threatened a shutdown of the government in early 2011 if cuts were not made to that year’s budget. The deal they struck with the White House cut $38 billion from food stamps, health, education, law enforcement, and low-income programs among others, while sparing defense almost entirely.

Obama has presented a budget each year as required by law.

What did the House of Representatives do with them?

Hum, guess we are still waiting for a vote?

Give Boehner a call, maybe he can give you some details about that!

No budget is going to be passed until the Bush tax cuts expire.

The President's efforts to solve our unemployment problem and to control the deficit have not worked. The President's economic plan for the next four years is devoid of detail and budget and is mathematically impossible.

The Obama administration document on the stimulus stated what the stimulus was designed to do. According to that document if the stimulus were passed unemployment would not go above 8%. That did not happen. The Obama administration created and used this document to sell the stimulus spending bill as the solution to the nations unemployment problems. The stimulus did not solve our unemployment problem. According to that official administration document if the stimulus did its job as it was designed then unemployment should now be well below 6%. Furthermore, if the stimulus bill had done its job then the President would not have to propose a second stimulus. The numbers in that document were not presented as speculation, they were presented as specification. This official Obama administration document said what the stimulus was going to do. Clearly what the Obama administration said would happen did not happen.

To me, reelecting the President means 4 more years of the same just hoping that things change. The President's new program to fix the the economy is just more of his same on going program to fix the economy. My biggest concern is all of the debt that has been building up. I estimate that an additional 5 trillion dollars of debt will end up costing the tax payers 50 trillion dollars to repay in 180 years. I agree with the President when he stated:

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans–a debt tax that Washington doesn’t want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.

Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

~ Senator B. H. Obama, March 2006

There is NO reason to believe the Republicans

They like to make bogus promises and predictions.

They tell you lie after lie about the future to elect them.

When was the last time they held on to their word?

What have Republicans done for America in the last 40 years?

Republicans want you to trust them but are you verifying that trust?

Did you look at the cause for the national debt?

Did you notice that it is all Republican policies?

Did you notice that Obama spent to fix Republican failed policies?

Did you know that Obama's fixes are working?

Did you know that we need more fixes?

Did you know that the Republicans do not want those fixes?

Did you know that Republicans want to bring back the same failed policies?

Do you think that Republicans deserve to be in power?

What have they done to earn it?

Republican polices have created a massive national debt of $16 TRILLION.

Do you think that Romney, Mr. 1%, Mr. anti-47%, Mr. "I like to fire people" is looking out for you?

Romney / Lyan have been in the middle of all the country's problems.

They're the cause.

They want more "redistribution of debt" from their interests to you.

Did you know that the tax cuts they give out are coming back in superpac accounts?

Do you know who is paying for their campaign?

Why do they have secret MILLIONS overseas?

Why are they lying so much?

You need answers.

Good luck!

Obama should NOT allow the GOP, nor Romney, nor Ryan to blame the debt and the slow economy on him...

I know this much...

The President does NOT pass jobs legislation. He just signs them.

Growth only happens if the "GOP owned congress" puts bills on the table to sign.

The uncompromising GOP has blocked, stopped, voted NO, obstructed, filibustered over 500 times and made pledges to NOT create jobs or bring cash to the government just to blame ONE man.

The GOP lies and do not tell "we the people" that their policies are at fault.

ALL GOP Policies are at fault because everything is directly involved with them.

Why don't we ask Mr. Romney to do this...

Let's do some ARITHMETIC...

#1... Name the "Obama" POLICIES and the AMOUNTS that you say added trillions to the debt and “ADD” those amounts.

#2...“DEDUCT” that Obama total from the current $16 TRILLION.

The balance = “GOP” spending.

DO Remember the following….

Expenses to “FIX” the GOP failed policies like TARP and the stimulus are still GOP spending and NOT Obama's fault so DO NOT count those policies.

All expenses from the previous GOP administration's “UNFUNDED” policies that Obama ADDED to his budget are ALSO Republican spending. NOT BO's

The INTEREST on the GOP TRILLIONS of debt is NOT for Obama to be responsible for either, it is GOP spending too. NOT BO's

The GOP “OWNS” that interest.

Also,

The “Bailouts” ARE “loans” to REPAIR more GOP screwed up policies. The GOP wanted those to be FREE of charge didn't they? It was a "going away gift" to the Banks and Wall Street from Bush. Obama made them loans.

Do not add policies before Reagan because there was NO DEBT PROBLEM before that, Reagan took office when the DEBT had ONE TRILLION and could have been tackled and fixed with comprehensive tax reform but Reagan did the opposite..

“Entitlements” are a tiny fraction of the debt and they always bring their own revenues through payroll deductions as premium payments. Entitlements are NOT free, it's paid-into insurance.

Be sure of this….

The Republicans will try blaming a Democratic majority that never actually had “control”.

Saying that the Democrats had a "Majority" doesn't count as “control”, because we all know the GOP had the "CONTROL" with their record filibusters and obstructions.

The President should remind "We the People" that "Total Control" is having a "Filibuster proof majority". The Democrats only had it for 5 months. After Teddy died, the Republicans went on a filibuster frenzy and BLOCKED everything.

All those failed GOP policies were drafted by Republicans AND all passed with GOP majority of votes going back to Reagan.

The Republicans will NEVER have policies or numbers to blame the national debt on the Democrats because they DO NOT exist.

Look them up, I tried. They're all GOP drafted policies.

DO NOT call them "spending" if you cannot name the policies.

Every single policy at fault is GOP owned, drafted and vigorously voted by Republicans.

DO NOT get fooled into thinking it is Obama's fault.

NOW is the time to stop that Myth.

Watch out for the following….

The Republicans and the Fox-Rush-bots are going to try to change the subject and attack the truth with insults, diversions and ridicules.

The Republicans will ask for budgets, but no one can pass budgets without Revenues. The GOP PLEDGED to NEVER raise revenues.

The Republicans will mention "bills" that are on Reid's desk. I saw all those bills. NONE are for jobs or to fix the economy. ALL of those are for reducing regulations for the rich, cutting public services, more tax cuts for corporations etc.

The Republicans will blame gas prices on Obama but will fail to explain why a President seeking re-election would do that or how he could actually influence that.

This is a WIN WIN on talks about the economy. Use it. Challenge every Republican. It will drive them mad with ZERO response.

This is NOT blaming the GOP or BUSH, this is history and ARITHMETIC!

The economy is on the President's side and the GOP's nightmare if the actual facts are told.

Remember this...

The RNC had a huge sign that said "We built it" and underneath there was the $16 TRILLION debt clock.

Answer this question…

“What has the GOP done for America in the last 40 years besides LIE to get elected into power?

Romney told millions that he will do the "opposite" of Obama...

So if…

Obama saved us from a full depression
Obama has reduced the deficit by hundreds of BILLIONS
Obama kept us from bankruptcy and a default
Obama has created 27 consecutive months of job growth
Obama saved the Auto Industry
Obama killed Bin Laden
Obama gave us Nationalized Health Care
Obama allowed Millions of young students to stay and thrive
Obama saved our retirements with the stock market recovery
Obama made sure TARP got PAID back with INTEREST
Obama took us out of one war, IRAQ.
Obama toppled dictators in Libya and Egypt
Obama gave women the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
Obama saves seniors over $2,000 by closing a drug hole.
Obama Gave people with pre-existing condition Healthcare
Obama reformed Wall Street to protect consumers
Obama put 26 year olds under their parents healthcare
Obama extended student loans and Pell grants
Obama gave us no-co pay physicals
Obama gave us better air quality with NEW MPG standards
Obama made sure everyone gets accepted for health insurance
Obama told BP oil to take responsibility for their horrendous oil spill
Obama told Women they do not have co-pays for birth control
Obama told Seniors "no pay" for Preventative Screenings
Obama is responsibly drawing down the war in Afghanistan
Obama gave Small business owners 18 different tax breaks
Obama got Dodd Frank passed into law
Obama told Insurers they must spend 80% of what you pay
Obama brings soldiers home to education + job opportunities
Obama gave Tax credits + CUTS for workers during worst recession
Obama has earned the World's respect of the USA in decades
Obama gave us the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Obama gave us More transparency with earmarks by lawmakers
Obama got rid of DADT in the military
Obama gave Families REFUNDS from their Health Insurance
Obama extended child tax credits to help families
Obama has spent less than any President in decades

Is Myth Wrongey going to do the opposite of those?

AND…

If you're blaming Obama for the increases in entitlement claims, food stamps, high unemployment, GDP numbers, higher national debt, etc…

You can blame all those downfalls on the "do nothing", obstructing, filibustering, 7% approved GOP owned congress that NEVER compromises and only makes PLEDGES to the rich and NOT to their nation.

The democrats do not have control when you have an opposing party filibustering everything over 500 times.

AND…

Romney did NOT promise he would do the opposite of what the GOP has done either.

Think about that too.

HOW THE RIGHT LOST THE ELECTION...

Mitt Romney would not be throwing virtually all of his past positions overboard if he thought the nation were ready to endorse the full-throated conservatism he embraced to win the Republican nomination.

If conservatism were winning, does anyone doubt that Romney would be running as a conservative?

Romney is offering an echo, not a choice. His strategy at the end is to try to sneak into the White House on a chorus of me-too’s.

The right is going along because its partisans know Romney has no other option.

A recognition that the grand ideological experiment heralded by the rise of the tea party has gained no traction is an acknowledgment of defeat.

Conservatives don’t believe that Romney really believes the moderate mush he’s putting forward now.

It was created by the GOP and by design.

Judging by Willard's and his cronies business tactics, the country is ripe for the harvesting.

There were 13 portable generators that only 4 have been sent to NY and Installed. Hmmmmmm

Apparently FEMA doesn't understand that people are suprisingly prepared with emergency generators, but a lot of good that does you when you cannot get gasoline.

The media is strangely silent. Why is Obama campaigning right now? Why is he cutting the red tape?

What happened to him fixing FEMA?

Listen, I hate to say it, but OBAMA WANTS TO LOSE!. It is completely obvious. He slept his way through the first debate. He worked and fought just hard enough in the 2nd and 3rd debate to not have the Democratic party lose all face. Barack Obama became the United states first African American President. That is enough. he knows it. His legacy is set. He does not have to win another term to be considered a hugely influential part of history. Plus he does not have to be part of the "hard to solve" problems of the next 40 years. He has solidified his place in history and can walk away with that.

Obama has no interest in being President of the United States for the next four years and he has even less interest in improving the lot in life for the American people. He realizes he will lose this election, but to him it does not matter. His place in history is set. And he's right. Barack Obama has done an amazing thing...becoming the President of the United States with absolutely no qualifications. He had the opportunity to try (with the help of extremely intelligent scholars) to use theory to solve the US economic problems. Unfortunately, it is going to take more than theory to solve those problems. It is going to take experienced business men to solve these problems and Barack Obama does not have the slightest clue what experienced business men would do. Luckily for us, Mitt Romney does. Is Mitt Romney the greatest candidate since sliced bread? Truthfully no. But he has business experience. He can get his country working again. Obama tried for 4 years and failed. Sorry Dems...you know it and I know it, it's time to give the experienced guy a shot at turning thie economy around.

Nothing personal. Barack had his opportunity and failed. NEXT!

Obama's 'revenge' remarks are deeper than merely a statement about venting voters' anger on election day. This slip reveals Obama's real motivations as president. He said he wants to transform America, and he meant it!

Check out his "REVENGE" REMARKS (from the other day).

When Obama said in a recent rally that voters should vote as revenge, that voting is the best revenge, it made no sense if you consider that he was the guy in the White House for the last FOUR YEARS! But Obama wants revenge, not for the last four years, but for the last TWO HUNDRED YEARS! He wants revenge against all the people he envied and hated all his life!

He wants to take revenge against the successful rich people whom he envied all his life. He wants to take revenge against white people for the injustices of the past. He wants to take revenge against Christians for making him feel alienated all his life (since he was raised as a Muslim in Indonesia). And he wants to take revenge against the symbols of American strength and exceptionalism like the military and big American corporations, which he sees as the embodiment of American arrogance (remember this is the guy who thinks America is just another country in the U.N.).

Obama wants revenge against many people. And a president whose actions are based on a desire for revenge won't heal America. And he certainly won't fix the economy and get America moving in the right direction.

Obama's statement about wanting revenge is very telling about the kind of person he is, and the kind of second term that he would have. This is a warning sign for all Americans about what is at stake in this election.

So go out and vote! America doesn't need to be "transformed", it needs to be saved!

VOTE ROMNEY-RYAN!

All I know is with the Democrats in power the economy gets better where with the Republicans the economy gets worse. With G W Bush the economy sucked where Clinton pulled it out of the rut. Under Bush the economy went south big time where even without the Republican support the economy is headed north again under Obama. Now the Republicans want control to put in the same Bush policies that cause the economy to nearly collapse? No thank you.

Carter got the blame for an economy that was screwed up by tricky Dick and Ford and suffered the blunt of the blame for the federal reserve's stupid decisions but did get the economy headed back in the right direction. Reagan benefited from a stable crude oil supply but tripled the deficit while passing many programs to the states. Because of Reagan's policies the states had to raise taxes on their people to pay for the programs passed on to them yet for some reason the Republicans want to call Reagan great. All he did was cause people to pay more state taxes while giving tax breaks that benefited the wealthy. My state income taxes doubled while many of my federal deductions were eliminated so I ended up paying more taxes than before Reagan took office. The wealthy paid less.

The bottom line is the Republican policy of cutting taxes and passing the burden onto the middle class is bad for the middle class and history shows that the Bush tax cuts did not help the economy yet Romney wants to cut the taxes more for the 1%. All that will do is pass more of the burden of paying for the government to the middle class. If my taxes are going to go up under Romney's plan then just let the Bush tax cuts expire and have everyone pay their fair share like we did under Clinton. The economy was booming then.

@Duqu

Your comment makes no sense. Obama is a multimillionaire.

He wants to take revenge against white people

Oh now I get it. You're saying that Obama hates white people yet he was raised by his white grand parents. Sounds to me like you're the one that hates someone. Now I know where you're coming from.

Duqu, I've read your comment a second time and I believe you are really in need of help. Obama is not full of hate for anyone. If you had watched the news of he and Governor Christie you would have seen how he had the passion for the people that were hurt by the storm. If he was to hate anyone it would be Christie who was blasting him only days before the storm. Now Christie praises Obama for his leadership and passion for those rich white people you accuse him of hating. Christie tells how Obama gave the extra effort to help those in need. That doesn't have the appearance of someone full of hate. You on the other hand is another story.

As for the revenge statement...Obama said “No, no, no. Don't boo. Vote,” he said. “Voting is the best revenge.” The crowd was booing Romney's position on the help Obama gave the auto industry to save jobs but leave it up the a right wing troll to try to twist a statement to mean something else.

He truly BELIEVES himself to be a SAINT and, as such, is ENTITLED to the big chair in the White House. He believes that all the "little people" were put there to serve HIS needs and wants.

He follows, more correctly PROMOTES, a faith that slaps Christianity in the face. He has sent thousands of American jobs down the river our out of the country. He REFUSES to release his tax returns.

He is ENTITLED, in his mind, to anything he wants because he is better than anyone else.

He has made it clear that he believes anyone who hasn't achieved his level of income simply refuses to take responsibility for their lives. He is MENTALLY ILL and he wants to lead our nation? Not gonna happen.

Romney for 1% of Americans ... Obama for ALL Americans!

It seems Romney doesn't need to speak about Benghazi, papers like the Las Vegas Review-Journal are:

      Obama unworthy commander-in-chief

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in a well-planned military assault on their diplomatic mission in Benghazi seven weeks ago, the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So why are details surfacing, piecemeal, only now?

The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday's election.

No where in that article did they ever state they were out sourcing American jobs to China. Mitt Romney, during the two campaign he started using this at, lie and said that Chrysler was outsourcing America jobs to China.

This is why Romney's ad is a lie. The Right seems to have uber skills at ignoring any and all context. For those that have fully functioning brains they can put two and two together and see that Romney is trying to scare his way to more votes or at least to scare away Obama's voters with these lies.

      lulu,

Bush did not but Cheney did.

      Anilof,

you would be none of those things however just because those are your views it does not mean that your personal views should be forced onto those that do not share your views. For example what allows you the ability to deny someone an abortion only because of your own personal beliefs? Do your beliefs supersede those of the person seeking the abortion? If so then why? Who makes those determinations?

If your answer to that last question is God then what if the person seeking the abortion does not believe that God exists or does not buy into the arguments in the Bible but is a practicing Catholic/Christian?

At what point does your argument that your beliefs should be accommodate by everyone go too far and start to trample on the rights of other individuals? That is one of the arguments being posited in this election. Do others have the right to tell you that, because of their personal believes, that you should not be allowed to have something that you personally believe in. Does someone with a pro-life agenda have the right to tell you, a pro-choicer that you have no right to obtain an abortion.

Government should not be endorsing any one belief system or ideology. It should allow for each individual to operate under their own personal beliefs so long as no laws are being broken in the process. What the Religious Right want's is a much larger Government that legislates morality and tells people that they cannot do certain things even if their personal belief system has nothing against it.

other than that, from the desk of Sam Wang=

Which brings me to a major point. We fuss and mock undecided voters - but isn't the elephant in the room the decided voters? They can vary in enthusiasm, which affects how they show up in likely-voter screens. Or they can flip, as one can see in the RAND data. Think about that. The electorate is so polarized this year. If they go right from Obama to Romney, or vice versa, they evidently don't stop at "undecided" along the way. These flighty people, not "undecideds," are the ones that the campaigns should be targeting in the home stretch.

I just looked at the turnout numbers in Ohio last night. If you ignore the absentee ballots add up the counties won by Obama, and the counties won by McCain, Obama looks like he did in 2008.

But, Ohio doesn't keep track of who is a democrat and who is not. To determine who is favored by the turnout, the individual precincts that were dominated by democrats and those by republicans. The Ohio Secretary of State's did this and reported that as of yesterday, the democrat's vote had dropped 230,000 and the Republicans are up 40,000 closing the difference by 270,000 votes. In 2008, Obama won by 258,000 votes.

In 2008 Obama won North Carolina by 14,000 votes. Although democrats still outnumbered republicans in the early voting, the gap was closed by more that 14,000 votes.

Ummm... Talk, my friend, there have been some developments you may have missed... the Republican Party has been pretty much completely taken over by religious cranks and a group of fiscal extremists whose "policies", if we can dignify them with that title, if actually enacted would quickly destroy what's left of our economy. You can't deny or fail to comprehend that the party of Nixon, Bush I, and James Baker has become the party of "Bonkers" Bachmann, Gov. Rick Perry (whose response to drought and massive wildfires was a prayer marathon), and the unspeakably sleazy (but undeniably crafty!) Newt Gingrich.

Talk, this is not an attack on you or your beliefs, and it is certainly not to be viewed as an invitation for you to start enumerating the sins of the Democratic Party. Believe me when I tell you that I am not ignoring the stench of corruption from my side; believe when I tell you that I am painfully aware that today's Democratic Party is as much in need of- may the good Lord forgive me for putting it this way- purging as the Republican side is.

We're never going to get anything useful or meaningful done by throwing rhetorical mudballs at one another. The powers that be are perfectly happy to see us divided and contentious; it means that we're not paying attention to their crimes. It's going to take men like you and me (and women like Amy B.), going to our own party leaders and asking them in loud, assertive tones, "WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU DOING IN OUR NAMES?" We're going to have to chase the money-changers out of the temple first; then men of good will (and ladies of good will too, of course!) like you and me can sit down and start hammering out some workable fixes to our country's problems.

" the Republican Party has been pretty much completely taken over by religious cranks"

This is exactly why Obama will lose on Tuesday. The Republican Party may have extremists in there, but it is a small percentage. What they really have is the majority of American people who think that what has been going on for the last 4 years is WRONG. The majority of the American people do not believe that being successful is evil and that if you do succeed that you owe every last dime you've earned to the guy who never tries.

America is about hard work and success. It is not about how, if you work hard and succeed, you owe it to someone else. Charity is one thing and America donates more money to charity than any other country on the face of the Earth. What we do not do, is OWE it to someone. If you're down on your luck, pull up your boot straps and earn a living...earn success. Earn what society gives you. Don't expect me to give you what I've worked hard for.

Listen we all struggle. I was laid off twice in the last 2 years. My wife and I do the best we can for ourselves and our 4 kids. I am out of work now and trying hard every day to find work. I appreciate my unemployment check, but I've paid into unemployment for years. Its not charity. My wife has a job and works really hard. She is the greatest. I owe her my best. What I do not owe is the lazy bum on the street that doesnt even try to get work. Obama would have you believe that it is OUR responsibility to pay his way, simply because he is down on his luck. I'll help out when I can, but right now, I can't. Get off your ASS and work. Earn my respect. Earn the right for me to help you. Otherwise, don't expect a nickel from me.

Middle school must be out judging from many of the comments. When folks do not have a cogent argument they simply resort to name calling. So here is a question for you- When Romney said (finally) that he was completely wrong about his 47% comment, did you believe him?

Nope. He said what he said and he meant it. That is what is wrong with this country today. Too many people concentrated on not hurting anyone's feelings and telling it like they see it instead of sugar coating it so as not to "hurt their feelings". In other words, get up off your ass and do something with your life. We all have the same opportunity, DO SOMETHING WITH IT!!

unlike you Obama can do two things at once. You know that he can contact anyone in the world from Air Force One right? In between his campaign events he is coordinating the relief efforts while in transit. Obama could part the oceans and you guys would complain about that. Just admit it already, nothing this President can do will ever be enough for you far Righties, you will always find something to complain about.

          Dee,

about 38 to 45% of his donations came from grass roots supports in amounts of less than $250. Romney's contributions under $250 from grass roots is only about 23% of his total war chest.

He can't run away from the 47% remark. What he and his comfortable supporters don't get is that being in a position of dependency, whether it's to your parents, your boss, your rich a$$h@!e brother-in-law, or the federal government, is corrosive to one's soul. Nobody likes taking assistance. Nobody aspires to food stamps! The huge growth in the number of people who are getting assistance is a result of the near-collapse of the economy a couple of months before Obama took office. Hand, I know that you're a man with a sense of honor, so I think you'll admit that a great deal could have been accomplished in four years, but was not, because of obstructionism in the House.

The increases in food stamp recipients and unemployment are being laid at this President's door, as though the policies of the previous eight years simply didn't happen. I submit to you, sir, that this is neither realistic nor fair- and most of all, Hand, it doesn't f*****g SOLVE anything!

          I await your reply.

big donors. Romney has more big donors that Obama though, who has a more grass roots oriented supporter base, that is the point.

            Justa,

I never blamed Bush directly for Katrina's issues, just his appointment of Brown who was incompetent as a FEMA director. Although I may have, at some point in the last three years of posting here, bag on his seven days post-landfall trip to NO.

He should have been there by at most day three talking with the Gov/Mayor and doing the things Obama has been doing from the start and forcing Brown into action.

Lets Do This, your argument holds no water with the majority of conservative and I'll tell you why. You posts mentions that his President has done more for the poor than any other President... "OBAMA'S WORKED WITH MORE OF THE POOR , AND THE STRUGGLING IN AMERICA THEN BAIN CAPITALIST ROBME AND LYING RYAN COULD EVER TRY AND CLAIM !!!!!!!!!"

Seriously. So what. Obama has given away more money to the laziest sector in American history. EVER. I do not owe a penny to the folks who refuse to go out and get a job. I pay my taxes and expect my roads to be clear and the police to patrol and the American government to defend this GREAT nation. What I do NOT pay taxes for, is those folks who REFUSE to stand up and take responsibility for their lot in life. IS LIFE FAIR? HELL NO! But that doesn't mean someone else should pay that guy's way.

If Obama is re-elected and this country falls farther and farther into debt because the Liberals and Barack Obama feel that folks "like me" should pay for those who are unwilling to pay their own way, this country will no longer be the country of our forefathers, but will become a socialistic empire with a supreme ruler who dictates where our money goes. Working hard and succeeding will no longer matter. America as we know it will be GONE.

Seems a bit melodramatic right? Sure, but that is exactly what American society will become. It is truly a frightening thought if Obama wins this election.

Grass roots donors wasn't the point at all. The point was that President Barack Hussein Obama couldn't be bought by the filthy rich. I think George Soros, Bill Gates, et al disproves that claim.

But the real point is that after deciding to sell himself to anyone for his politic favors, it's just a matter of quibbling over the price.

He doesnt have to do anything this next 4 years just serve that is it and he likely wont get nothing done in Congress because Democrats are definately not getting the house back. Instead of trying something new you wanted to stick with what we have had for 4 years. Yeah good plan...........

The term "gird one's loins" was used in the Roman Era meaning to pull up and tie one's lower garments between one's legs to increase one's mobility in battle. In the modern age, it has become an idiom meaning to prepare oneself for the worst.

So, now Team Romney admits the Jeep claim is a lie! I suppose it is inevitable that Jeep will "expand" its production overseas - nothing wrong with American businesses "expanding" provided the expansion is not at the expense of American workers ... which is what Team Romney has been claiming! Of course, IF Jeep finds it necessary to enlist the help of Bain, it will most assuredly be moving ALL operations overseas - if it survives the carnage!

Too little media coverage was given of the shipment of Sensata <sic> to China! Perfect example of Romney's business model. Sure, it was less than 200 American jobs, but 200 here, 200 there, next thing you know, THOUSANDS of American jobs are lost. And THAT company was actually showing a profit! Another thought: Romney claimed during one of the debates that China is stealing our technology, our jobs, our "intellectual property". Well, China didn't have to "steal" the intellectual property that was the foundation of Sensata ... Bain BROUGHT Chinese workers HERE to be trained by the Americans that were losing their jobs and then MOVED Sensata - equipment and all - to China! All for the sake of even more profit - for Bain (and Romney ... he is, afterall, still receiving income from Bain).

I, for one, will be casting my vote for the man that is fighting, literally, for my son's and grandchildren's economic future! The economy IS slowly improving. On the one hand, I'd like to say I'd prefer that it was "going gangbusters". But, it's rather like losing weight ... the more slowly and steadily one loses weight, the more likely one is to sustain the weight loss long-term!

That Obama has proven himself to be steadfast on the issues - hasn't changed his stance on a daily basis nor as a matter of expediency depending upon to whom he is speaking at the moment - earns him my vote!

Let's do this !!! (with the 3 exclamation points) - Neither this president or ANY OTHER has "single handedly" taken down a terrorist.......Navy Seals did that. If you research the entire scenario you will find that there was a letter signed by the POTUS, to take "action", that also disqualified him from making that decision, should the action fail. The auto industry is not "saved", but the blessing they received was from MY HARD EARNED tax dollars. The government DOES NOT have money, no way to generate income. They only have what they take from others, hard working people like me. The exact strategy they used here, they condemned China for trying to use....Good for me, but not for you? God Bless my fellow HARD WORKING, USA COMMITTED Americans! My military heritage for the past 30 years steers me in the right direction, and I am so glad the people who serve our Country with their heart, soul and lives, can vote in this election!

as for ending the war of "lies", you do understand that going all the way back to President Clinton, there were intel reports that saddam had WMD's. In fact he used some on his own people. As to the ending, President Obama just followed President Bush's plane of withdrawal, both for Iraq and AF.

If Obama was a man of his word, he would step aside. he told us that if he couldn't get the job done in 3 years, his presidency would be a 1 term presidency. Now he said he needs another 4 years. We cannot afford another 4 years.

How far could you go if all of congress Republicans signed a pact of non co operation if you were President.

It takes the senate and house to get things done. They have been very patient waiting to demonize him.

The birthers, the muslim thing. It wouldn't have been so bad if he were white, but they did it to Clinton

even before the sex. You have a civil war going on because they couldn't believe America voted in a black man.

Did Obama not know how Congress functions when he made all those promises?

He did vote "present" while in the Senate so maybe he doesn't know how it works. He probably thought the roll call vote was an attendance check...

jb roth. As for the house blocking Obama's wishes. Seems like the house represents the people, and since the house is majority republican, most of the people must be either Republicans or Conservative Democrats, SO the house must be doing EXACTLY what the majority of the people want, ie blocking Obama's misguided agenda. As to the "black man" comment. I was not and am not an Obama fan, HOWEVER I was actually glad to see a black man elected because I thought it would be the end to all the racial bull**it and we could really put it all in the past. Instead this president has proven to be a blatant rascist, and the race war has only intensified. So instead of accusing Conservatives of rascism, look to your rascist president.

LOL kind of like that tingle that went down the leg of the media when Obama ran in 2008.

I didn't see President Barack Hussein Obama's college records.

Those records would be worth seeing.

The president claims he was a law professor and Harvard denies that claim.

The president claims he can play BB but NBA Commissioner says he isn't any good.

The president claims he can play golf and John Boehner disproved that claim.

The president claims he killed bin Laden but the Seals disproved that claim.

The president claims he has destroyed al queda but Benghazi disproves that claim.

He is a legend in his own mind and his actions prove that claim.

Watch what he does and not what he says...

I guess I missed your point. Richard Nixon thought he was above the law, George Bush started a war based on lies, Gerald Ford could not play golf worth a damn, Ronald Reagan tried and failed, probably due to dementia, and the current President spent four years cleaning up the Bush Mess. Try this one for your research project today. Go find out why Hank Paulson, Secretary of the Treasury and Past CEO of Goldman Sachs, requested and was granted Immunity from all Future Prosecution by the US Congress when he sent the initial TARP Bailout Proposal to Capitol Hill. Do you find it odd that a Bush Cabinet Member needed immunity from prosecution? Seventeen of the Twenty-five advisors and controllers of George Bush now advise and control Mitt Romney. Romney may want to be POTUS, but the Bush Boys want to control the United States, and that suggests complete deregulation of banks and another Banking Collapse under Romney.

I don't think having more registered Dems vs. GOP in PA is an issue. Especially in Northeast PA, where unemployment numbers are the highest in the entire state. Slick Willie might talk a good game, but unless some new company comes in and hires a couple thousand people between now and election day that is what the voters are going to be thinking about. Not what party they are registered to vote for.

Perhaps Obama can go to his 1% celeb friends and drum up fundraising support for those hit by the hurricane. He got about $40k per plate I'm told. He even attended one of their parties the evening after our Ambassador was killed in Benghazi. Priorities, you know?

My friend in Staten Island has decided to vote Romney and I congratulate her for that. Hey, I congratulate her for staying alive.
