Ryan lambastes jobs report: 'We are 9 million jobs short'

MONTROSE, Colo. -- Just hours after the latest unemployment report was released Friday, Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan attacked President Barack Obama for not living up to his promise of getting more Americans back to work.

Related: Jobs data unlikely to sway undecided voters

"We just got the latest jobs report that voters are going to see before heading to the polls on Election Day. And what we saw today is that the unemployment rate is higher than the day that President Obama came into office," Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, said. "We are 9 million jobs short than what he said he would accomplish. Look, in the president's campaign for another term, he has offered nothing different and if he is reelected, nothing different is exactly what we would get."

Recommended: Obama, Romney bring their closing arguments to the Midwest

The U.S. economy added 171,000 jobs in October, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics Report, and the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9 percent, still below the important psychological threshold of 8 percent.

GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney rallies in West Allis, Wisconsin criticizing President Obama failed policies.

In the shadows of the San Juan Mountains, Ryan told voters in the key battleground of Colorado to hold on for just another few days.

"Here’s what it comes down to: we can't afford to wait four more years for real change to get us on the right track. We only need to wait four more days. Four more days and we can do this. Four more days. Four more days and we can get this on the right track," he said at the Black Canyon Jet Center to a cheering crowd.

Recommended: Democrats face very steep climb to 25 House seats they need

The Friday morning rally marked Ryan’s 11th in the Centennial State where Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Obama are in a dead heat to capture the state’s nine electoral votes. According to a CNN/ORC International poll released yesterday, Obama barely edges out Romney, 50 to 48 percent, among the state's likely voters. The two-point lead for Obama is within the polls margin of error.

Romney will hold two events in Colorado Saturday while Ryan returns on Sunday for an event in Castle Rock before Tuesday’s election.

Sure, Little Munster, You and your party + the Tea baggers are the loons who have NOT produced a single job since the Grimm Weeper said you would.

For the record, so far in 2012 btw it still has two months to go, the economy has created over 1.56 million jobs, which is already better than five of the eight years of the Bush/Cheney era and 2 year Tea bagger regime.

Hey, Beverly, I didn't get a chance to thank you for thinking of me before Hurricane Sandy hit!

We came through the storm fine, although our business is impacted by New York and New Jersey being out of commission. (And we feel for the folks who lost family, or homes.) I can't tell you how pleased I am with Mayor Bloomberg's endorsement of Obama. Bloomberg has also paid for campaign ads supporting Independent moderate senate candidate Angus King - a welcome bright spot in the negative media blitz smearing and attacking our popular former Governor. Thank you Mayor Bloomberg!

Amy,

I always think of you. I have a girlfriend I went to Nursing School with whom she and I stayed in touch with until I moved 7 years ago. She moved there and wanted me to come visit because she said it's such a beautiful place.

I'm so glad you and your family weathered the storm okay. I'm also glad Mayor Bloomberg did too; particularity because of climate. We in the Midwest have been fairly lucky. But, you never know what can happen. I'm equally excited Star Bucks CEO endorsed our President.

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, noted that President's "significant leadership" on the economy and world affairs are reasons for his decisions. Take that righties!

And to all you brainwashed libs, is spending $1.2 TRILLION a year that we don't have good for america? Talk about rooting against our country. Spending our kids future on phones for freeloaders, how dop you justify this?

Marquette University polling was the most accurate during the Wisconsin recall election.

Marquette University polling shows Obama with an 8 point lead.
They were also the ones who noticed a trend where 10% of those who voted for Walker also said they would vote for Obama on Nov. 6

Most polling in the Midwest has shown a trend toward Obama since the 3rd debate when Romney did terrible.

A month in which jobless claims RISE by .01% is NOT a good month, as FIRST READ and the Obama-Shama-Lama-Ding-Dongs on this message board would have you believe.

This garbage about the Vet's jobs bill is LAME too! You can't create jobs by simply passing a bill! That's why lawmakers like Ryan voted against it.

You must establish a stabilized economy in order for the private sector to create new jobs, and Obama-SHAMA-LAMA-DING-DONG has FAILED MISERABLY in his feeble attempts to do so.

That's why we need CHANGE and we need it NOW!

Randy, do you have any idea how many bills Reid has blocked in the Senate? He won't even let them come to the floor for discussion, let a lone for a vote. Again we need leadership in Washington and right now we have none.

The effects of the 2010 election put the GOP controlled house in power. Now, THAT being said, the GOP stopping the bleeding GovCo checkbook and NOT passing anything that would cost money we didn't have and still don't, had no ill affect on jobs growing.

Republican hypocrites like Ryan have “Romnesia”. Who caused the horrendous unemployment in the first place? Republicans. Who got us into two unfunded wars? Republicans. Who took a budget surplus and turned it into a HUGE budget deficit? Republicans. Who more than doubled the national debt? Republicans. Who crashed the economy after getting rid of all the banking regulations? Republicans.

I could go on all day; these shameless jerks will say anything to get back in power so they can rape the economy again. I am amazed at how many Americans fall for their lies and deceit.

For the last three and a half years who's been successfully repairing the huge national disaster left behind by the Republicans? President Obama and the Democrats.

Anyone foolish enough to vote for any Republican is inviting another disaster into ALL of our lives.......Don't do it, vote for Democrats so they can finish fixing the Republican mess.

Omni, the way I see it is you are the freeloader, a poor excuse for a human being. You don't want to pay your fair share in a country that was founded on equality. You are a throw back to the slave owner actually. There is nothing more vile the a person that doesn't support their government. This means funding it. The question is, you want to deny people that that need the help even a small amount, when in fact you will willing fund a military whose sole purpose that last decade was wage war for the already rich. Then you want to call yourselves pro life. Well hopefully enough Americans are responsible enough to elect those that work for all people in this country and not just the few at the top of the food change. Jobs bills for veterans, don't care what else is in it. Don't care who put it there (yes republicans put stuff in bills that cost money too.) it should have passed. Raise tax on the top 2 percent after the first quarter mill isn't going to hurt them as much as starving a child who you consider a free loader. Four more for forty-four.

There wouldn't be so many people out of work had it not been for 8 years of Bush/Cheney politics and people like Romney buying up companies, bankrupting them, laying of hundreds of thousands of people and shipping those jobs over to China.

I will remind everyone once again. The total wealth in the world is controlled by about 400 families. Everyone else is middle class. No matter how much you think you have, you do not have what it takes to make a pimple on these people's a$$! Do not kid yourself, they will break your back just as they plan to break the backs of the rest of the middle class. Lyin Ryan is the biggest narcissist to come along in American politics in years, and if you can't see that, then you have four days to open your eyes. They talk a wonderful line, but this country will be thrown into such a tailspin your heads will spin.

Praise for Obama and his leadership after the hurricane. Man can't prepare for everything. Romney was quoted as saying "cleaning up after Sandy was like cleaning up after a high school football game". Seriously? Doesn't anyone else see how of touch this man and Lyin are? Please think about what you are doing. You are NOT the one percent. Not even close. They WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF YOU! Only their elitist friends. Be warned.

@edgewatervince...see the funny thing about that is now Romney/Ryan are shouting to the rooftops that the government doesn't create jobs. Which is strange considering "Jobs Jobs Jobs" was the Republican theme for the 2010 election cycle. Updated as of 5:00pm EST on Friday, November 2 (Thank God It's Friday!):

Real Clear Politics (RCP) consistently has been the "go-to" source for accurate averaged daily polling data for both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS. With only 78 hours left to go in the 2012 presidential campaign, RCP continues to report Obama leading in eight of their 11 toss-up states with Romney leading in three.

In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged numbers from RCP as of 5:00pm EST together with the most recent FiveThirtyEight election night probabilities of victory for either candidate:

In WISCONSIN, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead has jumped to 5.0%, up from 3.7% Thursday afternoon. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 91.2% chance of victory here, up by a significant 5.5% from Tuesday.

In PENNSYLVANIA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 4.6%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 96.2% chance of victory here, up by 2.0% from Tuesday.

In MICHIGAN, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 3.5%, up from 3.0% Thursday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 98.6% chance of victory here, up by a slight 0.5% from Tuesday.

In NEVADA, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.7%, up from 2.4% early Thursday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 87.7% chance of victory here, up by an astonishing 8.0% from Tuesday.

In OHIO, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead has settled today at 2.4%, up from Thursday's 2.3%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 80.5% chance of victory here, up by a substantial 7.2% from Tuesday.

In IOWA, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.0%, up from 1.3% Thursday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 78.8% chance of victory here, up by a significant 4.9% from Tuesday.

In NEW HAMPSHIRE, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.0%, up from 1.3% Thursday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 77.8% chance of victory here, up by a substantial 7.5% from Tuesday.

In COLORADO, with 9 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 1.0%, up from 0.9% Thursday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 64.6% chance of victory here, up by an astonishing 9.2% from Tuesday.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In VIRGINIA, with 13 electoral votes, Romney's lead is holding at 0.5%. Interestingly, FiveThirtyEight increased Obama's chance of victory here, and NOT Romney's, to 66.4%, up by an astonishing 8.2% from Tuesday.

In FLORIDA, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead is holding at 1.2%. However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney a 55.1% chance of victory here, surprisingly down by an astonishing 9.6% from Tuesday. It should be noted that RCP's average in this state has been inflated by a recent outlier finding in favor of Romney from Gravis Marketing, a polling firm funded in large part by BAIN Capital.

In NORTH CAROLINA, with 15 electoral votes, Romney's lead is holding at 3.8%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney an 79.9% chance of victory here, down by a slight 0.3% from Wednesday.

So...

In order for Obama to win re-election the least complex route would be through maintaining his current lead in the five toss-up states where his existing margins are widest (Wisconsin at 5.0%, Pennsylvania at 4.6%, Michigan at 3.5%, Nevada at 2.7%, and Ohio at 2.4%). Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 271. In this scenario, Obama could still surpass 270 while failing to hold Iowa, New Hampshire, and Colorado.

However, should Obama fail to hold Ohio, the loss could effectively be neutralized by any of the following combination of wins from states where FiveThirtyEight is currently forecasting Obama victories:

Path #1: Obama loses Ohio but wins the remaining three states where he currently leads, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Colorado resulting in 272 electoral votes.

Path #2: Obama loses Ohio but steals Virginia while also taking New Hampshire, Iowa, OR Colorado resulting in 270, 272, or 275 electoral votes, respectively.

Interestingly, with Romney's lead having diminished significantly in Florida over the past two weeks and with Hurricane Sandy forcefully highlighting the stark contrast between the candidates regarding the value and necessity if not the mere existence of FEMA in a state which has perhaps the greatest dependence on federal storm relief efforts in the nation, a 3rd path has now emerged which could provide for some interesting election night television:

Path #3: Obama comes from behind to win Florida. This scenario would require only that Obama win the three states in which his present leads are widest (Wisconsin at 5.0%, Pennsylvania at 4.6%, and Michigan at 3.5%), resulting in 276 electoral votes.

For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to hold the three states in which he presently leads, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia bringing his electoral vote total to 248, but also steal victories in both Colorado where Obama's lead rose yesterday to 0.9% and in either Ohio (where Obama's lead has settled today at 2.4%, up from Thursday's 2.3%) or in Pennsylvania (where Romney's campaign suggested earlier this week that Obama's significant lead of 4.6% may be vulnerable). By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total would reach 275 or 277, respectively.

Romney's Pennsylvania strategy, however, may be a highly-marketed feint designed to counter Obama's anticipated re-allocation of campaign resources to a quantifiably softening political landscape in Florida.

In any event, should Romney fail to steal either Ohio or Pennsylvania he could overcome this shortfall by capturing the four other states in which Obama's current leads are smallest (Colorado at 1.0%, New Hampshire at 2.0%, Iowa at 2.0%, and Nevada at 2.7%) resulting in an electoral vote total of 273.

FiveThirtyEight this morning estimates the chance of Election Day victory for each candidate as follows: Obama 80.9% (up from Wednesday's 79.0%) and Romney 19.1% (down from Wednesday's 21.0%).

FiveThirtyEight now also projects that on Election Day the final electoral tally will be as follows: Obama 303 (up by 4 from Wednesday's 299) and Romney 235 (down by 4 from Wednesday's 239).

Lastly, although it makes no difference in terms of the final result which can only be determined by the Electoral College, FiveThirtyEight currently predicts a national popular vote distribution on Election Day as follows: Obama 50.5% (up from Wednesday's 50.4%) and Romney 48.4% (down from yesterday's 48.6%).

With only 78 hours of campaigning left, and with this morning's published October jobs report playing to predictably mixed reviews (economy adding more jobs than expected; unemployment rate ticking up one tenth of one percent to 7.9%), holdout voters may now be left to nothing more than the proverbial 'feel in their gut' as Tuesday approaches.

TGIF, America. Go have a drink.

U6 numbers indicate a 14.6% unemployment rate. That is not an improvement. The writer who said passing a bill does not create jobs was absolutely correct. And the problem with the bill is there is no money to "provide" jobs for vets. And do you really think they want jobs working in the National Parks, etc? Just keep running up the debt. Just like the 100k STEM teachers. Where are they coming from? The county next door gets STEM teachers from the Phillopines. How does that help? Or are you going to wave the magic wand and just designate some teacher with no STEM education as a STEM teacher? That is what also goes on here in MD. An example is a teacher who worked as an aide after having graduated in elementary Ed. Fours to get a full teaching job and is suddenly a STEM teacher. Yuk!

Loose Cannon-6512284

@Talk to the Hand #1.25....So are you saying that the Republicans deserve credit for stopping the "job bleeding" in July 2010, 6 months before they took office? You do realize that the election was in November 2010 and that those elected took office in January 2011, right?

@Loose Cannon,

You do understand, I hope, not only has the rethugli-con party in the Senate been the most obstructionist in U.S. history but the rethug bots on here are so adept at rewriting history. They think if they scream it loud and long enough it becomes factual. What they don't understand is not everyone in this country is as stupid as they believe. It is a sad commentary about this country in that most, but not all, cons have proven the dumbing down of America is working.

So let them go on believing what they want. Tipping at windmills isn't going to change the fact their candidate is going to lose next Tuesday.

I don’t want an economic traitor for President.

And I know working families don’t want a President who profits from outsourcing American jobs to China. But it's happening right now. Workers at Sensata—owned by Bain Capital where Mitt Romney made his millions—in Freeport, IL are protesting outside their plant to stop their jobs from being offshored.

Mitt Romney’s buddies at Bain Capital have refused to save their jobs from being shipped overseas—and they even took down the American flag while forcing the Sensata workers to train their Chinese replacements.

Obama is the liar. He has no clue and resorts to name calling. Rev Wright, "this is the first time I am proud of my country MO", I saved the auto industry, ACHA will provide everyone with insurance but I cannot solve the high cost of medical care, I will hire 100,000 STEM teachers although I have to find them in other countries, etc.

Can't speak for everyone obviously, but for me and my fellow contractors and subcontractor friends in telecom and communications engineering in Sacramento, and separately in Los Angeles, yes, we are doing relatively better now than we were four years ago.

Back in 2008, most of us were unemployed for losing our jobs, or pending unemployment for budget cuts. Now, all of us have jobs again, save for the few of us on early retirement due to health reasons or for the sake of their spouses relocating to different places in the nation where they're hiring again.

For half of us, not the best, but better than it was four years ago when uncertainty and worry ruled our minds as the Great Recession began in full-force in the last year of the G.W. Bush / Dick Cheney Administration, where "For Sale," signs because popping up like weeds in the suburbs, and the news of hundreds of people -- if not thousands of people being laid off in various companies -- began to be commonplace bits of front page news.

At least that sort of bad news has slowed down in frequency in the last 18 months. So yes, for myself and my circle of high-tech friends, we are doing better than compared to how it was, four years ago. Romney and Ryan though, want to turn the clock back to what seems to be the equivalent of some kind of mutated Cold War Era. My parents borderlining their retirement age, said they don't want to go back to those, "bad old days."

With the relatively strong October numbers, and the upward revisions to August and September, the economy has now created an average of 157,000 jobs per month so far this year. This may be a slight underestimate, in fact. The government has announced, but not yet officially incorporated into the numbers, its estimates of annual benchmark revisions, which would add to the jobs numbers in January through March.

Those revisions would bring average jobs growth throughout the year to about 165,000 jobs per month.

Game over.

Just saw a full page ad in our local paper paid for by the Billy Graham Evangelical Association endorsing Romney (of course, they could not say Romney's name because of their tax-exempt status, but it was the same thing as endorsing Romney). The picture of Mr. Graham in the ad was taken about 25 years ago and is not what the ailing preacher looks like today.

This sickens me to see a beloved man like Billy Graham used as a pawn by his own son, Franklin. Poor Billy is 94 years old and in ill health. I have followed his career for over half a century now and he would NEVER support someone he believed was a member of a cult like Mormonism. It goes against everything he ever believed and preached during his lifetime. He denounced these cults from the pulpit in his many crusades through the years and spoke out against their beliefs with no reservations.

Some may say that Billy Graham would be against gay marriage, too. Yes, he certainly is, but if he were able-bodied and in his right mind now, he would do the same thing he did to Nancy Reagan when she consulted astrologers while her husband was in office. Billy Graham called her personally and told her it was wrong. He would do the same thing to President Obama -- he would call him and tell him that he disagreed with him.

But Billy Graham would NEVER remove the language from his website that said Mormonism is a cult. It is a shame and disgrace that his son Franklin has sunk to such self-serving depths.

Billy Graham learned not to endorse any President after his mistake with Nixon, and he mentioned that in his autobiography. He became the friend of ALL Presidents, not just the ones that his greedy, money-loving ("oh, I didn't know that $500,000 was put into my retirement plan as a bonus"), attention-seeking, deceptive, wannabe son, Franklin, endorses.

Early voting in Ohio has the Dems 180k BEHIND 2008 pace and the Reps 80k AHEAD of their 2008 pace. Even with the high level of excitement for BO in 2008 he lost same day voting to McCain in Ohio. The early voting was 2 to 1 for BO in early votes in 2008 and just a narrow lead this time. IF... this trend holds it doesn't bode well for the Prez.

Paul Ryan attacked President Barack Obama for not living up to his promise of getting more Americans back to work.

Ryan is a committed chameleon. If he cannot lie in front of a gullible audience, he has nothing to say. If not for the corruption of the GOP party between 2000 and 2008, our citizens would have more jobs. Ryan cannot lay this country's economic turmoil at the feet of Obama. Considering the horrific economic implosion that Obama inherited, our president has done a fantastic job of steering this country in the right direction.

Ryan: "We are 9 million jobs short

Because of the GOP's lack of regulation of Wall Street, the Big Banks and Corporate America, we are 9 million jobs short.

Ryan: "in the president's campaign for another term, he has offered nothing different"

President Obama has made a difference. Because of Obama's initiatives, our people now have The Affordable Care Act, the Lilly Ledbetter Act, the war in Iraq is over, Bin Laden is no longer a threat, we have an American automobile industry, the retention of low-interest student loan rates, an extension of the payroll tax credits for the middle class, and of course, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Ryan told voters in the key battleground of Colorado to hold on for just another few days.

Yes, Americans, hold on for another few days. Hold on until our citizens can re-elect Obama to an earned and well-deserved 2nd term as Commander In Chief of this country.

Mitt Romney and Obama are in a dead heat

Too many of our citizens are politically naive. The Red states such as Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Louisiana, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Kentucky need Obama the most. These red states are in desperate need of Obama's forward economic, political and social platforms.

Romney will hold two events in Colorado Saturday while Ryan returns on Sunday for an event in Castle Rock before Tuesday’s election

Hopefully, after Tuesday's election, in defeat Romney and Ryan will retreat to their narrow-minded political corners.

Democrats, Independents, Disaffected Republicans get out and vote for Obama and Biden!

25 Walker, it wasn't the GOP's lack of regulation that caused the mortgage meltdown. Look up Brooksly Born that tried to do this (regulate derivitives) under the Clinton Admin in 1996 i believe. The biggest proponent to block her proposed regulations was from Larry Summers from the Administartion. Also backed by Robert Rubin and the SEC chairman(can't remember name off hand). Those were all DEMOCRATS, and there is senate committee testimony from them shutting her down.

Getting out of Iraq wasn't a BO initiative. It was done 8 years prior in a written timeline agreement from Bush, just before Obama was even a Senator. BO just followed the timeline.

You will have to link me to Obamas plan for SS and Medicare as i have never seen one.

The President's efforts to solve our unemployment problem and to control the deficit have not worked. The President's economic plan for the next four years is devoid of detail and budget and is mathematically impossible.

The Obama administration document on the stimulus stated what the stimulus was designed to do. According to that document if the stimulus were passed unemployment would not go above 8%. That did not happen. The Obama administration created and used this document to sell the stimulus spending bill as the solution to the nations unemployment problems. The stimulus did not solve our unemployment problem. According to that official administration document if the stimulus did its job as it was designed then unemployment should now be well below 6%. Furthermore, if the stimulus bill had done its job then the President would not have to propose a second stimulus. The numbers in that document were not presented as speculation, they were presented as specification. This official Obama administration document said what the stimulus was going to do. Clearly what the Obama administration said would happen did not happen.

To me, reelecting the President means 4 more years of the same just hoping that things change. The President's new program to fix the the economy is just more of his same on going program to fix the economy. My biggest concern is all of the debt that has been building up. I estimate that an additional 5 trillion dollars of debt will end up costing the tax payers 50 trillion dollars to repay in 180 years. I agree with the President when he stated:

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans–a debt tax that Washington doesn’t want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.

Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

~ Senator B. H. Obama, March 2006

I would be interested in knowing what percentage of jobs are taken by a) foreigners and b) foreigners who have the job because they are more qualified than an American-born citizen qualified for the same position. Overpopulation, foreign immigrants, out$ourcing and automation all play into the picture. Unfortunately, none of those are going away anytime soon.

The Romney plan, here was one of them:

    Typical lies and deceptions.

Of course Romney wanted GM to go bankrupt.

There was no "private" money available to save GM and so there would be a liquidation.

All warranties void, all dealers out of business, all parts suppliers out of business, millions of workers out of jobs.

Who benefits? Vulture capitalists like Romney's Bain.

Buy up the assets for pennies on the dollar. Sell the patents, sell the manufacturing equipment. Make millions on the blood of the laid off employees of all those companies who made up the auto industry. And make no mistake; even Ford admitted that if the suppliers went out of business they would have folded too. If you think this is the "American Way" you need to go somewhere else to live.

It's a disgrace to all those Americans who have sacrificed for the good of the entire country, not just a few greedy pigs.

25 Walker, it wasn't the GOP's lack of regulation that caused the mortgage meltdown

    BigATC,

Your statement is another "whopper" from the right.

Emphatically, every reputable economist has stated that it was the lack of regualation between 2000 and 2008, that collapsed our economy. The previous administration had a "look the other way" policy and the GOP administration turned a "blind eye" to Wall Street's reckless and fraudulent financial instruments." The Republicans are the party of block and defeat. Every legislative act that President Obama has proposed to put our citizens back to work has been blocked by unpatriotic GOP politicians.

Ryan is lambasting Obama's record on reducting our unemployment rate.

Hypocritically, Ryan has voted against every bill that would put our citizens and veterans back to work.

In January 2009, 12 politicans vowed to block all of Obama's efforts to save this country.

Guess who was among the above "guest" list?" Paul Ryan.

The above politicans'were ALL REPUBLICANS and their goal was to make Obama a "one-term" president.

Getting out of Iraq wasn't a BO initiative

Getting out of Iraq was an Obama initiative.

When Bush left office, there were thousands of American troops in Iraq.

Under Obama, there are now zero troops.

It was done 8 years prior in a written timeline agreement from Bush

Bush would not have followed his own "timetable."

The GOP's does not have positive domestic agenda. The party like wars.

    BO just followed the timeline

Obama has steered many of own independent initiatives. This is the reason that our economy is improving.

You will have to link me to Obamas plan for SS and Medicare as i have never seen one.

Social Security and Medicare still exist in their traditional forms.

The existence of the above programs is the best testimony to Obama's committment to these saftey nets.

25 ... The Reps did try through Fannie and Freddie regulation to get all the real estate mess under control. Go to youtube " fannie freddie congress 2004" and listen to the floor debate and you will hear the dems basically telling the reps they are full of it trying to regulate Fannie/Freddie.

The end result 25 ....... in 2005 the Dems in the Senate filibustered a bill that would have regulated that. Including then freshman senator Obama.

Thats twice if you are keeping count 25 that the Dems killed attempts at regulating derivatives and Fannie/Freddie. In 1996 and in 2005. But then i'm sure you could care less to look up actual events and attempts that were stopped by Democrats.

After Tuesday we will see the last of the gruesome twosome of Romney/Ryan:

        R.I.P., Mitt Romney

        by Nov 2, 2012 3:20 PM EDT

Mitt made multiple mistakes that will lead to his defeat on Tuesday. Some of them date all the way back to 2008.

The campaign has come down to a race between Mitt’s media and Mitt’s mistakes—and the mistakes are winning.

We have now crossed the billion dollar mark in ad purchases. In Ohio alone, the two sides, Super PACs and all, are spending $30 million in the closing week—and in the battleground states overall, Romney forces are outspending Obama by $30 million.

But the contest is not as unbalanced as the numbers. The Obama money goes further because more of the total buy has been placed by the campaign itself, which by law pays less for television time than outside groups. Obama’s strategists also got more for less than the Romney enterprise by buying well in advance, when the so-called lowest unit rate was lower. In any event, the airwaves in the swing states are saturated. The Thursday before the election, the noon news on the CBS station in Columbus, Ohio, featured 22 political spots one after another. A lot of it, perhaps most of it, is so much electoral wallpaper.

What matters more is what happened months or even years ago, when Mitt Romney inflicted serial damage on himself that can’t be wiped away by a last-minute ad barrage or a barnstorming tour through the final hours.

Go all the way back to Nov. 18, 2008, when Romney wrote that op-ed in The New York Times headlined: “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” Few pieces have had as long or relevant a political life. Michigan, Mitt’s original home state, and Ohio, home to 850,000 auto industry-related jobs, have proved stubbornly resistant to a Republican nominee who seems so conspicuously hostile to their livelihoods. If the President carries both states, Romney’s prospects next Tuesday look about as promising as the Edsel’s in the 1950s. For those too young to remember it, the car was a landmark flop. Wikipedia offers a commonly accepted explanation: it was “a supreme example of the corporate culture’s failure to understand American consumers.”

Romney’s op-ed was a supreme example of a corporate guy’s failure to understand American voters. He can quibble that he favored “a managed bankruptcy”—without the use of federal funds. The Obama campaign—and most experts—respond that in the depth of the financial crisis, there was no private capital available to keep the auto companies in business while they were reorganized. That’s true, but almost beside the point. What’s indelible, immediately apprehensible, persistently top-of-mind is the headline itself. Romney could have claimed he didn’t write it; he didn’t. He could have argued it wasn’t what he meant. Instead, he doubled down, telling an interviewer: “That’s exactly what I said—the headline you read—‘Let Detroit GoBankrupt.’”

In a last-ditch attempt to crack Ohio and Michigan, Romney has now resorted to advertising an outright lie—that Chrysler’s Jeep division will soon move its jobs from the United States to China. The media has debunked the fiction, which was borrowed from the fantasy precincts of the rightwing blogs. The Detroit press called it “false” in a news story— not just on the editorial page. TV stations have scorned the Romney spot—at times, pre-emptively refuting it just before it airs. When Bozo the Trump tweeted the lie, a Chrysler Vice President swiftly tweeted back: “You are full of @!$%#.” The Obama response ad was easy to make, entirely believable—and of course, showed a grimly grinning Romney letting Detroit go bankrupt. Maybe he’s created a new watchword and a warning for Presidential politics: Would that mine opponent would write an op-ed.

Now fast forward nearly four years to last summer in a second, probably fateful Mitt mistake. It fits with the first one—and reinforces the narrative of an out-of-touch, plutocratic candidate who doesn’t care about working families or the middle class. Romney let the Obama campaign pummel and define him as the profiteering-job destroyer from Bain. Eighteen years after this attack shattered his Senate bid against Ted Kennedy, you would think Mitt had an answer other than nostrums about “free-enterprise.” The fact that he didn’t offer one suggests that there isn’t a convincing one. When he was asked on CBS, he simply brushed the question aside: the President is “grasping at any straw he can find.”

After a summer of dithering, the Romney campaign fled to relatively contentless website www.sterlingbusinesscareer.com defending his tenure at Bain. This is an inexplicable case of lame and latter-day rather than rapid response. According to Politico, the site has attracted “far fewer than the number of eyeballs on the Bain attacks on the airwaves.” Ceding the ground here left Romney’s favorable-unfavorable rates upside down with swing voters from Las Vegas to Toledo— and left him with a steep hill to climb. Even as he made progress, which he finally did, he has been struggling to erase the deficit.

The struggle intensified when he selected Paul Ryan as his running mate instead of the safer, Ohio-friendly Senator Rob Portman—the choice of most of Romney’s advisers. Ryan, who has proposed to replace Medicare with Vouchercare, instantly threatened the nominee’s margin with seniors, who are essential to assembling a barely sufficient GOP coalition. Some Republicans rejoice that their vulnerability here has been blunted by charging—falsely by the way—that Obamacare cut more than $700 billion from Medicare (the cuts were in excessive payments to entities like insurance companies.) But the GOP campaign has had to spend time and millions of dollars on this—and the hard evidence suggests that for them the battle is being lost. The latest Democracy Corps survey reports: “[On] Medicare … Obama [is] trusted by 14 points over Romney in the states where the issue has been contested in advertising from both sides.”

If the Republicans lose Florida—and when Obama holds on to senior-rich Pennsylvania, Mitt’s last, least hope—put it down to the Ryan mistake. The choice didn’t even achieve one effect its champions insistently predicted— that it would energize the sanforized Romney. Instead of Romney being Ryanized, Ryan has been Romneyized. He’s become a bland non-presence—which, given the sharp edge of his views, may be the better part of rightwing valour.

Then came other big mistakes, interrupted by one notable success.

The convention, which was supposed to introduce and humanize the Republican nominee on its last night, morphed into a Saturday Night Live skit. It was an elementary failure of event planning to let an unscripted Clint Eastwood conduct a farcical debate with an empty chair- and then to push real-people testimonials to Romney’s character out of prime time so Florida Sen. Marco Rubio could talk more about himself than Mitt. There was no bounce—and a marked decline for the Republican nominee after a bravura Democratic Convention a week later in Charlotte.

If the Obama of the second debate had showed up to the first, the election would have been over then and there. But he didn’t; it was his mistake and Romney’s singular moment. But the Republican seemed to have no coherent plan for his second and third encounters with the President other than insisting that the race was simply a referendum: If you’re kind of dissatisfied with the economy, give me a try; after all, I am in the midst of a moderate makeover. This typifies the pervasive error of the Romney strategy. The Obama forces cast the election as a choice: who’s on your side—on tax fairness, on fighting for the middle class, on equality for women and all Americans, on decency towards immigrants? The President vigorously prosecuted his case in the last two debates- and Romney ended up on the wrong side on choice after choice.

I had predicted that Mitt could win the first debate—and he clearly did. But I arguedthat this would not change the structure of the race unless Obama stumbled again—and he didn’t. The Romney “momentum,” which was less than it was cracked up to be, has long since stopped for all but the delusional and disingenuous Dick Morris, the turncoat Clinton adviser who laughably foresees a Romney “landslide.” I guess this is what Rupert Murdoch pays him for; at least, Morris could have gotten the electoral votes right for the states he mentioned. Karl Rove, now also of Fox, has offered up more modulated happy-talk. But as Romney desperately reaches for Pennsylvania and Minnesota, virtually no one believes the spin—apparently not even Newt Gingrich, whose blog slipped up and posted a prediction that “Obama is going to win.”

Romney’s colossal mistake on Libya in the second debate also prepared the way for the real October surprise, the bromance between the President and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Mitt was slapped down for politicizing Libya in that debate—and reproved by moderator Candy Crowley for being outright wrong on whether Obama had called the attack an “act of terror.” The GOP nominee refused to venture back into the controversy the next time the two candidates met. He had disabled himself; despite the fevered advice of the neocons, and the relentless conspiracy-mongering of the embittered John McCain, Romney was quiescent. And the real issue at stake wasn’t just foreign policy, where Obama is far ahead, but ultimately the quality and character of his Presidential leadership. The response to Hurricane Sandy was the sequel— and the President’s most powerful and persistent validator was Romney’s convention keynoter, Chris Christie. He showered praise on Obama as “wonderful”—and added: “If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics, then you don’t know me.”

I think I know who’s going to win when I hear the bloviating Rush Limbaugh denounces Christie as “a Greek column” for Obama’s reelection. And you can measure the desperation of the Romney Campaign not only in his sudden apparition in Pennsylvania—if he can’t make it in Ohio, he has to try somewhere else—but in the race-baiting of the bumptious John Sununu, Romney’s co-chair, who attributed Colin Powell’s endorsement of the President to the fact that they’re both African-Americans.

Whether this was intentional or a mistake, it was plainly shameful. And as I have argued before, it was a mistake for Mitt’s strategists to invest so much in the wallpaper of late advertising while neglecting field organization—where Obama has a deep-rooted and potentially decisive edge.

Finally, Romney made some unavoidable mistakes embedded in the DNA of today’s GOP. He assumed, correctly, that in the primaries he had to pander on social issues to the religious right— and on immigration to a party that has become the modern incarnation of nativism. He can plead in mitigation that he had no choice—and if that is so, look for another Republican defeat in 2016. On Nov. 7, Romney may be asking himself: What does it profit a Mitt to gain a nomination and lose his chance to make history in the White House?

Still, the fault is not just in his party but in himself. The Romney campaign has been a trail of missteps—and the Obama managers masterfully took advantage of this and took control of the race. So let’s thank Mitt for making his own mistakes. As we may have noticed, he’s very good at it. Romney—R.I.P.

Before Romney "goes quietly into the night".He has one more trick to try and pull. Don't fall for it guys:

Michael Tomasky on Mitt Romney’s Closing Con Game

        by Oct 30, 2012 4:45 AM EDT

Mitt Romney’s latest political ad makes it clear that he’s trying to portray himself as a uniter who will heal the divisions of the Obama years. Don’t believe it for a second.

So one of Mitt Romney’s closing plays is that he’s the great conciliator. He released an ad several days ago and has been hitting the theme ever since, arguing that we need (as Romney said in the first debate, quoted in the ad) “leadership that … could not care less if it’s a Republican or a Democrat” that said leader is working with. With this, Romney makes the full leap into Orwell-land, but with signs that some folks actually buy or at the very least want very much to believe this, it’s important to point out to those voters the precise nature of this con game.

Presidential candidates always promise that they’re going to change the tone in Washington. They have to. The media demand it. Polls show them that independent and swing voters (two different things, really; the latter is a subset of the former) yearn for it. Their advisers tell them that’s how they win over the undecideds. Also, and crucially, they come equipped with egos that permit them to convince themselves that they are unique among men, and they can indeed change this “tone.”

Barack Obama ventured further than most down this boulevard of broken dreams. He had an analysis, you see: The right hated the Clintons because of certain things the Clintons represented about the ’60s because the Clintons were products of that generation. Since Obama wasn’t a product of that generation, it wouldn’t be so bad for him. He believed it. I believed it too. In a career sprinkled with its share of shoddy predictions, I think that one may have been my worst.

While Obama and I were believing—on Inauguration Day 2009, say—that things would be different, key Republicans were meeting in a restaurant not far from the very mall where the celebrations had taken place that day. They agreed, wrote Robert Draper in his book Do Not Ask What Good We Do, that very night to oppose Obama with all they had. Within the month, the Tea Party movement was born, and compromise with Obama became the moral equivalent of shaking hands with the devil.

The particulars of the ongoing opposition are well-known enough that I needn’t rehearse them all. Suffice it to say that the GOP of this Congress set records on Senate filibusters real and threatened, and en bloc (or almost en bloc) no votes. There’s never been a Congress like these past two, especially since the GOP took over the House.

Obama has tried from the start. The stimulus bill was about 38 percent tax cuts. You’d think Republicans might have gone for that. The individual mandate came from the Heritage Foundation. He cut payroll taxes (Republicans did end support for that, but only after the ludicrousness of their initial opposition to a tax cut became too much to endure). And more. But they said no every step of the way—even breaking from the precedent of Congress raising the debt limit more than 70 times since the 1940s. Now it was deemed acceptable to tie that increase to other matters and even, for the first time in history, to filibuster it.

No, no, no, no, no. And then, come 2012, they turn around and say, “See? Obama failed to unite this country.” They say it’s because he pursued a hard-left agenda, but that’s not true and they know it’s not true. What they know to be true is that most centrist voters will believe them, because the mood in Washington is still toxic and the president promised to fix that, by cracky.

All of that, we’ve known. But now comes the new twist. Now Romney gets to come in and say, “I will be a conciliator.” Perversely, there is a potential grain of truth to the claim, but only because Democrats in opposition don’t behave in the Leninist fashion that Republicans do. (I have demonstrated this numerically—41 percent of congressional Democrats supported George W. Bush on his four major legislative initiatives, while 6 percent of Republicans backed Obama on his top four). But bear in mind it’s going to be a very strange definition of “conciliation.” What Republicans generally mean by “working across the aisle” is terrifying just enough Democrats from red states and districts into supporting their initiatives and destroying them if they fail to, like the old ads from 2002 that impugned the patriotism of Georgia Sen. Max Cleland, who left three limbs in Vietnam but opposed Bush’s war in Iraq.

And the final note that takes us into full surrealism. Republicans know very well that Obama can’t say any of this during election time because he’d sound “whiny” and will be admitting “failure” at the task of uniting the country. This is really the Ministry of Reality Suppression at work, and why I wish Mr. Orwell were around to see it.

He’d know it well, because it is, in fact, a very communist (small c) mindset, about which Orwell wrote in the Spanish context if not others: act obstreperously and disruptively, create conditions that make it impossible for the bourgeois or reformist party to succeed, and then turn around and blame the reformist party for the resulting failures. And then sit back and laugh if the reformists try to point this out and attack them as weak. It’s one of the oldest tricks in the ideological book, and it’s hostage-taking, basically, and our system of government—especially the rules of the Senate, where a minority of 40 has the power of a majority—permits it.

It must infuriate Obama that all this is true, and it must infuriate him further that, if he does win, he will still have to extend olive branches, because he will be the president and that is what people expect of the president. In the future, I hope no Democrat ever again promises to change the tone in Washington. “I’ll try,” Democrats should say. “But it takes two to tango on this.” Then at least the public might fix the blame for this problem where it so richly belongs.

Keep lying to yourselves by enjoying all your part time jobs. And I'm not just talking about the holiday shopping season, but the explosion of part time positions since 2009.

The unemployment PLUS underemployment rate is still above 14%.

You guys are so troubled, so incredibly toxic not just to yourselves but this country due to your either willful or involuntary ignorance, it doesn't matter.

It takes a very especially psychotic person to place part time jobs and lower wage full time jobs in the same value as full-time jobs.

And that makes 90% of the people in this thread psychotic. But of course, sane people know how screwed up this site is and the ideologues like Feisty and BigAl and Beverly (who is such a vile person who uses disgusting, perverted, derogatory terms like Tea Bagger which speaks volumes about her character) to the point that the only reason a healthy human being comes here is to remind us of how inhumane we can become if we allow ourselves to get sucked into progressivism.

And you know how you can prove you guys are psychotic, because there isn't a single rational counter you can make to debate me about the stats on part time jobs. Instead, all you can do is deflect and derail into something else. And that's exactly what you'll do.

A detailed report by the independent and unimpeachable Congressional Research Service that was NOT published due to heavy GOP pressure.

Why? Because it says EXACTLT what I've been saying for months... that tax cuts for the rich DO NOT help the economy and, in fact, only cause a wider disparity between the rich and the middle class.

Tax cuts at the top ENCOURAGES executives to remove money from the business and tuck it away in off-shore accounts.

Tax cuts at the top DISCOURAGES executives to reinvest profits back into the business.

          Shall I go one?

The GOP shut down this report because it refutes the GOP "meaning of life". It absolutely KILLS Romney's economic "plan" and exposes it as a total farce.

          What say you Republicans?

          BigATC

25 ... The Reps did try through Fannie and Freddie regulation to get all the real estate mess under control.

          BigATC,

Your attempt to spin the facts and lay the real estate mess at the doorsteps of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac has failed. Both of these government loan servers were small and late "participants" in the GOP, Wall Street, Big Bank and Corporate America created financial debacle.

It was the private, for profit, lending institutions that charted and blazed the path of economic destruction in the mortgage collapse and housing bubble. Many of the private banks abandoned the guidelines set by the government servers. Deliberately, the big banks issued sub-prime loans to mortgagees that these institutions knew could not afford the future terms and payments.

From 2000-2008, concerning the financial markets, the party of greed "hands off" policy allowed the American economy to be tossed onto the "casino tables."

          The end result 25"

The end result is that the American people lost their homes.

the Dems in the Senate filibustered a bill that would have regulated that

The private sector banks caused our economic depression recession. Any bill that was passed would not have effected the private sector banks.

          Including then freshman senator Obama

Ryan has been a chief obstructionist in preventing America's economic recovery.

Iraq had cabinet approval with the Bush Administration on Nov 16, 2008 for withdrawal time lines

What Iraq cabinet approved the Bush's war to look for "weapons of mass destruction?"

          BEFORE BO was in office

Time lines mean nothing to the GOP. Romney is not the president. Yet, he is "searching" for a new war.

Big Al and the bunch just say "spins and lies, spins and lies"

Here is an example of a miraculous spin:

Romney's "explanation" of his videotaped statement about the "47%."

i'm curious you say the republicans are the party of no and defeat

During Obama's presidency, you are free to name 5 positive achievements by GOP.

what is your take on the democrats blocking regulation of Fannie/Freddie in 2005 through filibuster?

Your above question has been answered.

          Please answer this question:

Without smashing the middle class and crushing the poor, how can Romney cut 5 Trillion dollars in taxes?

Obama/Biden 2012, for the survival of America!

If you didn't get to see Piers Morgan last night, hope you can catch a rerun of his interview with Rudy Guiliani. Mr. Guiliani was dissing the President for allegedly mishandling the Benghazi attack, and suddenly during his interview, General Wesley Clark (who had been interviewed earlier), asked if he could address Rudy, and the show's producers put him on. It was priceless to watch.

Rudy Guiliani was obviously stunned to suddenly have an honored military expert like General Clark appear on screen and contradict everything that Mr. Giluiani was saying, and the General also pointed out how wrong it was for people to politicize the Benghazi attack, and how the Democrats did not politicize a tragedy like 9/11 on the day of the attack, or the day after, or the week after, or the month after ... etc.

Rudy shot back his same rhetoric and then pulled his earplug out and walked off camera.

            He knew he was outmatched!

He also, couldn't defend that he voted to spend $4,000,000,000,000 for bush's lost wars in Afghanistan and Iraq!

Did you see the latest Wrongme mis-step????

            http://en.ria.ru/world/20121102/177151497.html

Matt Romney is Senior VP of a real estate investment firm. How nice to be born on third base, huh? ( I had to quote a bit)

“It is a harmless trip,” said Greg Davis of Excel Trust, a real estate investment firm based in the state of California where Matt Romney works as a senior vice president.

“It was a trip that has been planned for some time,” Davis told the Times. “Any travel they’ve done on behalf of Excel is strictly on the private side. It would have nothing to do with anything governmental.”

But a week before the US presidential election, the trip is noteworthy, in part because the elder Romney has been openly critical of US-Russian relations under President Obama as well as Russia’s domestic policies, and has vowed to take a tougher stance on the Kremlin if he’s elected.

"Under my administration, our friends will see more loyalty, and Mr. Putin will see a little less flexibility and more backbone," Mitt Romney said at the Republican National Convention in August.

Romney has long been critical of Obama’s stance on Russia, telling CNN, “The actions he's taken so far, which he says are to reset relations with Russia have not worked out at all.”

“Russia continues to support Syria. It supports Iran, has… fought us with the crippling sanctions we wanted to have the world put in place against Iran,” he said in the interview. “Russia is not a friendly character on the world stage.”

And in last month’s final presidential debate Mitt Romney said, “I’m not going to wear rose-colored glasses when it comes to Russia or Mr. Putin.”

The Times reports the younger Romney sought to deliver a message to Putin this week that if elected, his father wants a good relationship between the two countries.
            ******************************************************************************

I guess the best way to deliver a good relationship message is to warn the other side by saying they are going to see less flexibility and more backbone ( Harrrumph!!! Man noises!)

What a freaking idiot. He puffs out his chest and talks tough about Russia, but his kid goes over there the very same week and wants their business????

It is just completely upside down. It makes the Bush administration seem logical by comparison.

Matt is as good as Mitt when it comes to foreign relations: totally useless and clueless.

Another rich idiot to throw on the pile.

Was Pro Choice before he was for the Person-hood bill (NO Abortions) yet he its OK with abortion for Rape and the life of the mother. As head of Bain he sent jobs to China, now he wants to get tough on China. Will he tell Sheldon Adelson to forfeit his Billion Dollar Casino in China. The list is to long, so I will ask one more question; How much money did Romney bring back from the Swiss banks under the AMNESTY PROGRAM. You know the one for people who illegally kept money in Swiss banks got to bring it home TAX FREE.

Matthew... absolutely nothing makes any sense of the Romney-Ryan campaign. They turn everything around and make Obama look like the angry white man when they are the epitome of that stereotype.

Be very afraid of the future if R-R rise to power. Be very afraid if the GOP-TP continue to play obstructionists in Congress and if McConnell continues to do everything he can to get rid of Obama and NOT legislate. Those idiots were elected and paid by us to LEGISLATE, not hold grudges and pledge revenge and cut off the collective nose to spite the collective face.

I believe in the right of everyone to freely express themselves and to be able to vote if you are a citizen. I believe in using FACTS and telling the truth. I believe in being fair, objective and compassionate. I believe in peace and not war. I believe in progressive actions and not in wanting to return to my mother's womb.

If you have not yet voted, which is highly unlikely in quite a few states, vote and support efforts in allowing everyone the right to "one person = one vote" and not allowing corruption and voter fraud to exist. Let's not be the laughing stock of the world by not supporting voter fraud and corruption. We are supposed to be the epitome of democracy... let's live to those ideals. It is much easier to be honest than to cheat and steal and lie.

Finally, believe the exit polls and if the vote doesn't match the exit polls, be very scared of what occurred... corruption.

Heres why were short Mr Ryan. Thank you Taliban Pete and Jihad Jeb

FACT 1. In Robert Draper's book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives" Draper wrote that on inauguration night, 2009, during a four hour, "invitation only" meeting with GOP Hate-Propaganda Minister, Frank Luntz, the below listed Senior GOP Law Writers literally plotted to sabotage, undermine and destroy America's Economy.
FACT 2: Draper wrote the guest list included:

            The Guest List:
Frank Luntz - GOP Minister of Propaganda
            Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
            Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)
            Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA),
            Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX),
            Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX),
            Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI)
            Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA),
            Sen. Jim DeMint (SC-R),
            Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ-R),
            Sen. Tom Coburn (OK-R),
            Sen. John Ensign (NV-R) and
            Sen. Bob Corker (TN-R).
            Non-lawmakers present Newt Gingrich

FACT 3: Newt Gingrich confirms meeting took place in an interview with Al Sharpton's Politics Nation on June 12, 2012

SHARPTON: In fact, let`s go to a book that Mr. Draper wrote about the night of the inauguration. There was a meeting at a hotel near the inaugural ball, about a mile away ... He writes about that night the plan was to show united and unyielding
opposition to the president`s economic policies ... And Draper writes that you told the group -- you, Newt Gingrich, "You will remember this day...you will remember this day the seeds of 2012 were sown."
If there was a commitment from day one, before he ever took a seat
behind the desk of the Oval Office, that everyone was going to obstruct
him, then what he`s done has been almost unbelievable, against those kind
            of odds, Speaker Gingrich.
NEWT: it was an important meeting and I was glad and honored
            to be part of it.
SHARPTON: I`m glad you admit you had it.

FACT 4: Two months after Paul Ryan's covert meeting where they plotted to sabotage the US Economy, in March 2009, Rep. Pete Sessions said Republicans should follow the model of the Taliban in its battles against President Obama.
In the March 2009 interview with National Journal Rep Sessions said:

"Taliban Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban. Insurgency is the way they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person's entire processes. And these Taliban -- is an example of how you go about to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their frontline message. And we need to understand that Insurgency may be required when [dealing with] the other side"
~Rep Pete Sessions, March 2009 to National Journal

Rep Pete Sessions went on to say:

"If they [democrats] do not give us those options or opportunities then we will then become Insurgency ... I think Insurgency is a mindset and an attitude that we're going to have to search for and find ways to get our message out and to be prepared to see things for what they are, rather than trying to do something about them"

FACT 5: Also, at the January 20, 2009 meeting they plotted to suddenly stop supporting any Stimulus Legislation, even though, they all supported Bush/Cheney Stimulus legislation.

At the meeting, Rep Kevin McCarthy said,
"We've gotta challenge them on every single bill."
            "Show united and unyielding"

              Paul Ryan said:

And what we saw today is that the unemployment rate is higher than the day that President Obama came into office

Totally ignoring the fact that unemployment was already on the rise in January of 2009 and would peak at well over 10%!!

Totally ignoring the fact that the Bush policies that led to 10%+ Unemployment are the very policies he and his running mate are championing.

Totally ignoring the fact that there has been a complete turnaround under Pres.Obama and job growth is now positive and steady.

of course, Romney/Ryan never met a fact they couldnt ignore, a lie they wouldn't tell, or a position they wouldn't change to get a vote.

Paul forgot to mention what happened to jobs over the next year AS A RESULT OF THE FAILED BUSH ADMINISTRATION. That would be telling the truth, though.

The GOP obstructed the recovery for four years and now blames the President for the economy not being stronger. Kind of like the kid who murders his parents and then throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan.

So, Rep. Ryan says "we can't wait four more years" when Gov. Romney said it would take him 8 - 10 years to turn the economy around.

What part of this makes sense?

John, can you say it was the BIGGEST recession in our history, I know I can. When a ton of @!$%# hits the fan all at once it takes time to stop slide in a second GREAT DEPRESSION, but thank goodness it was only a GREAT RECESSION. Now the United States is recovery, yes its a slow process but it happening.

Now some people want to change directions and add unwanted changes to Medicare, SS, DOD, etc. Which has been shown by several sources that it will slow the recovery and add to the deficit. That is a smart move, NOT.

How about we think of it this way, say you miss a payment to one of your creditors. How long does it take for that one missed payment to come off your credit report?

A: 7 years. And by all accounts it will knock serveral points of your score...

John, there are several reasons why this recovery is slower. They include:

              1) Much of our manufacturing (when compared to previous levels) has been outsourced. This means factories and supply chains were shut down and would need to be re-established before jobs in the affected sectors can be recovered. In many places, the manufacturing jobs have been gone so long that the supporting physical, energy, and communications infrastructure is outdated.

              2) We participate in a global economy and like it or not we are directly impacted by other country's economic status.

              3) De-regulation, as initiated several administrations ago, allowed larger companies to start to exhibit robber baron status. They lied, cheated, and stole from the average person. This de-regulation led directly to a lopsided allocation of economic input and out-take by a few sectors (think banking for example) which in turn diminished the capacity of MANY businesses to achieve stable and supportable growth curves.

President Obama had to start at below scratch in order to re-establish growth AND deal with the deliberate and pre-planned economic obstructionism of the Republican Party. Blaming the President for "growth is too slow" is simply wrong and ignores real world facts.

Making an assumption that Gov. Romney can speed up the process is not supported by any (lack of) details he has providednor his "economic plan" as posted on his campaign website (btw - his Keystone info as specified in that "plan" is false, per Keystone!). Even his claim of 12 million jobs in the next four years is what is projected to happen if nothing else is done. His economic position lacks facts, informaiton, and substance.

His two signiture pieces of legistlation, the stimulus and healthcare bill passed with no GOP support. His attitude was "I won. The GOP can go screw." That is hardly the way to make friends and influence people. HE is the big cheese and it was HIS responsibility to LEAD. He failed. He will must now be replaced. It's that simple. Just as one example, "Lied, cheated, and stole" are statements that can VERY easily be attributed to the inappropriate lending tactics practiced by certain mortgage companies. That and the bundling of those same mortgages and selling them as "highly rated" investment opportunities.

Syria is Iran's route to the sea it is the only Arab ally in the world.

In fact, as anyone can see on a map Iran is landlocked. Syria and Iran share no border even.

              Bart,

First of all it was Obama's promise. Nobody else made the promise....it was him. In terms of Congress, yes, we need a change there. The Senate needs to be moved from Dem controll to Repub control. At least then we can get at a minimum a proposed budget out of them. The House passed multiple budget proposals, passed over to Senate and they died on Harry Reids desk. So yes, the Congress is a problem and specifically the obstructionist Dem controlled Senate

Harry does not care much for moving the country in the right direction so long as he can still live in the Ritz Carlton. What an a-hole. No budget brought to the floor.....seriously???

For the life of me I don't understand why you guys don't believe in accountability.

And John, fact check, bills can start in either chamber of congress, and Reid is sitting on 7 bills, instead of 40 like gingrich and ryan. And, nearly all obama bills that started in the house were blocked unanimously by the GOP, even when he offered mountains of concessions and bent over backwards. The fact is the GOP partisanship has destroyed what chance we had for a rapid recovery. They don't deserve the chance to lead from higher up if they couldn't set at least a genuine example from below. If Romney wins, I won't blame the dems if they start blocking the man the same way. The U.S. is doomed as long as either party is a vengeful pissant with nothing but partisanship to offer. The dems were the bigger man this time around. If Obama wins, the GOP had better bend over and actually get something done this time instead of nothing but "no" with no alternatives.

Let me simplify it for you John,

To answer your question: yes it does. Europe, which is the largest importer of our goods, is in recession, including it's strongest economy Germany. Oh, I forgot, that's Obama's fault (my smile drips with sarcasm). China's economy has slowed drastically. Again, Obama's fault (more sarcasm). America is part of the global economy and has also become dependent on service industry jobs. The fact that our economy is growing (I know that's against everything you cons believe in) in the face of all the headwinds and the obstructionist policies of the rethugli-cant party is to the credit of our current President. John:

Save your cussing to someone that deserves it. I didn't call you or your tea party any of those names. Your response speaks volumes and further makes my point. The fact that people can't even have an civil conversation is just the beginning of why this country is in trouble. Parties are not supposed to agree on everything, but when the votes are cast they are supposed to work for the people that voted for them. Not do everything in their power to block any progress. We have two ways this can play out. We can work together and fix things or we can argue and name call and flush our country and everything everyone has worked for and everything the military stands for right down the toilet.

It's time we all grow up now. We have bigger problems than disagreement We are going to cease to exsist as a nation if we don't get it together, and fast. !!!

              Obama/Biden 2012

Who said " Elections have consequences, John. You lost. I won."?

Who said American businesses soft and lazy and said they'd lost their ambition; they didn't build that; they need to up their game?

Who baselessly accused the Chamber of Commerce of accepting foreign contributions and said it had the burden of proving it did not?

Who said Mitt Romney, in effect, killed a lady who lost her insurance?

Who says the "wealthy" aren't paying their fair share?

Who stepped on the conscience protections of people of faith and attacked a Lutheran school's right to hire and fire on religious grounds?

Who uses "gay rights" as a wedge issue and depict opponents of same-sex marriage as bigots?

Who manufactured a phony GOP "War on Women."?

Who says Republicans want dirty air and dirty water and rejoice when people lose their insurance coverage, that they want a smaller America and don't believe in rebuilding roads and bridges, that they are hostage takers and Slurpee sippers? He says they created this mess, and they should sit in the backseat of the car. We'll have hand-to-hand combat with them on Capitol Hill, and if they bring a knife, we'll bring a gun.

Who crammed Obamacare down the throats of a strongly opposed majority?

Who continue to scare seniors, the "middle class" and the "poor" into believing Republicans want to destroy Medicare?

Who publicly ridiculed and demonized the Supreme Court on multiple occasions?

Who disparaged hedge fund managers as "playing with other people's money."?

Who vilified immigration enforcement advocates as racists?

Who waged a war against states on immigration and voter ID laws?

              Who worked against military ballots?

Who lawlessly rewrote loans in the GM and Chrysler restructurings to favor unions and cheat secured creditors; and in Solyndra, to subordinate taxpayers to private investors?

Who exploited race and minority relations for political purposes and for ideological reasons, including Eric Holder calling the nation cowards on race, racializing voter intimidation laws and saying the GOP was after him on Fast and Furious because he, like Obama, is an African American; appealing to Hispanics and blacks to vote as a bloc for Democrats because Democrats are their friends and Republicans their enemies; and accusing the GOP of supporting voter ID laws to suppress the minority vote and immigration laws for racial reasons.

The answer to every question is the President of the United States Barack Obama. Vote as if your life depends upon it, becasue i probably does.

The wealthy have the lowest tax rates since before the Great Depression. If you think that is a GOOD thing, you are delusional. And voter suppression DOES result in minorities being excluded. It is the POINT as a state legislator in Pennsylvania was actually dumb enough to admit. If you want a bigoted, racist, regressive at the helm of Government, vote Romney/Ryan. Just don't come crying to me when you are living in the modern day equivalent of a Hooverville (look it up)!

Of course, I try to be nice to everyone and I don't want to assume that your use of the term "Milli Vanilli" is meant to be tied to anyone's race, so I will play nice and pretend or assume that you're not being racist and instead you just think that a lip-syncing duo (one of whom is dead) is at the helm of the U.S. presidency.

It really doesn't matter whether or not Milli Vanilli were any good. Making fun of a suicide to make an idiotic political statement simply shows the low level of filth that is coming out in support of Romney/Ryan.

Do you think "jfk" could post all of the documented examples of what little Ryan has done for the economy during his time in the House? Of course not...because legislating "legitimate rape" has nothing to do with the economy. So, instead, "jfk" has to make fun of a suicide...and I'm positive that "jfk" only thinks it's funny because it was the suicide of someone of African descent.

I would call Miss Mittsy supporters pigs, but pigs actually serve a purpose.

Ryan was OK with voting against the stimulus yet asking the administration to send stimulus money to his district. He was also happy to vote for the Bush tax cut, 2 wars and the unfunded Medicare benefits. What a hypocrite. I hope his district doesn't elect him either and he has to get a real job.

Your first thought should be that he wanted to study Medicine and become a doctor until he figured out that he couldn't handle the math requirements. So he studied economics instead. He couldn't handle math and was stupid enough to not realize that economics had a lot of.....math. No wonder his budget doesn't add up.

Today my husband received a phone call from a man who told him to vote for Romney. When my husband asked him why Romney and Ryan lied about Jeep jobs leaving Ohio for China, and that the CEO of Chrylser said it was a lie, the man then said that the leader of Chrysler was an Obama supporter and was voting for him. My husband pointed out that the man who runs Chrylser is Italian and cannot vote in this country. The man then said it was a plot by the Obama campaign to send the jobs to China. My husband then asked him why Romney has sent so many jobs to China and why he hasn't said anything about Bain sending Sensata jobs to China, the man said that this was different because he didn't work for the government. REALLY which one is it? These phone solicitors are just like Romney and Ryan, liars and fools.

Leadership is the ability to work for the common good regardless of political positions - which is precisely what we have seen from President Obama and Governor Christie.

Leadership is not sending your servants to Wal-mart to buy crap for a photo-op and then sending out your little #2 to complain about a problem that he helped create.

I pay for all of my stuff, ironically named "truth". I do the best I can to not spend my hard earned money on Chinese products - which is next to impossible, but COMPLETELY impossible at Walmart.

I understand that the economy is forcing people to shop stores like Walmart, but it won't stop me from pointing out there close-to-unethical business practices and the horrible way they treat their employees.

I'm not a freak about it and can't blame anyone that places food on the table over politics...I just avoid the place like the plague.

Remember when Walmart bragged about all of their American made products and then got caught selling Chinese products as American? That would be when I wrote them off...seems others have forgotten...

Seriously? WalMart may employ a lot of people but they do not allow them to have enough hours for benefits. I refuse to shop there no matter the price. Layton,

I see you come from the I like "inexpensive stuff but do not want to pay for it" mindset. Gee, maybe Walmart should provide the equivelent of $100 an hour benefits to their workers. However, they should not raise their prices because that would mean they are a mean, evil corporation. In fact, they should should not be allowed to make money.

Get a clue, there is no free lunch. You probably have a bunch of Apple products but are ok with that because Apple is a "cool company".

I guess working at Walmart is beneath you. However, it is not beneath the 2.2 million people it employs. I guess they must be something right. Or, are they all being forced to work there against their will? Did it ever occur to you Walmart runs their business so they can provide their customers the best prices available, so that their customers can stretch their hard earned dollars further?

Trying to reason economics with folks like you is a fools errand which is exactly why Obama has the economic results that he has "produced". He, like you, live in some sort of fairlyland with regard to how economics actually works. Just ask the 23 million that are still unemployed which is 9 million short of what he promised.

              Grow up.

I do not shop at WalMart! I support my local stores and the businesses that are not "chains."

                No Apple products.

Working at WalMart, my companion does as a way to make a living for his children. No benefits. Many of the cashiers that he works with are delegated 35 hours a work week to make damn sure that they don't qualify for squat.

                Grow up?

I'd suggest you actually READ and understand what the hell your neighbors are going through to make ends meet. Thank God the President gets this and will push forward for the Middle Class. Mitt & Co. only want to make sure people have "jobs." They don't give a rat's butt on what the job pays ... nor do you. I think it’s time for the citizens of our country to understand what the upcoming elections are really about, and what is really at stake if we make the wrong decision in whom we choose to be our president for the next four years.

The Right for four decades now, has been working overtime to try and create a country that if successful would eventually eliminate the middle-class, and would leave us with a two-class society of what the Right calls’ Creators (1%) and those despicable Parasites (99%). The Right has been attempting to establish a laissez-faire type of Capitalism in our country. Which is characterized by free market fundamentalism, where consumers, workers, and families are left on their own, and businesses do whatever they want, with little or no role for government. But, there are a few problems with their type of Capitalism that the Right neglects to tell you or just doesn’t want you to know, and like any thing that sounds too good to be true, usually is too good to be true, and that is the case with the Rights version of Capitalism, and to be realistic about it, it could only work in a truly perfect world, and besides our world is far from being perfect. In addition, there are two major flaws that come with the type of Capitalism the Right wants to bestow upon us, corruption is one, and which would undoubtedly run rampant, and then there is the built-in flaw that Capitalism is based on, and which is, destroying the competition. Capitalism’s built-in flaw is always geared to destroy its competition, and when that inevitably occurs Capitalism fails, and a sure sign that Capitalism is failing are the establishment of monopolies. Once the competition has been destroyed, and Monopolies have taken over consumers lose their freedom of choice. Monopolies have virtually no competition and can dictate prices to their consumers unless they are restricted by regulators. The consumer either has to pay the price demanded by the monopoly or not receive that good/service. And, with the arrival of Monopolies the ugly world of collusion makes itself present. And, then you consider that from the onset of George W. Bush’s presidency he conveniently started replacing the people who oversaw the regulatory commissions with people that had previously worked for the very industries that they were now going to regulate, which could be considered as leaving the foxes to guard the hen houses! Then you throw in the Right’s failed trickle down economics, and all of that combine is what has brought about the failed capitalism we are now witnessing. What the Right has deliberately done, is that they have taken a reasonably regulated free enterprise system with a balanced economy that could have been globally competitive for decades. At one time our country consisted of a wealthy class, a thriving middle class, and a not so poor, poor class, and by the Right trying to turn our reasonably regulated free enterprise system of Capitalism into their version of Capitalism has endangered the middle-class to the point of extinction! And, has also left our country in jeopardy of becoming a Plutocracy!

What the Right doesn't realize or does and just doesn’t care, is that we had a unique system that was a perfect blend of Capitalism and Socialism that helped safeguard us from extreme downturns, and also helped make recoveries from any downturns much easier to recover from. Our system was structured in a way that actually helped maintain capitalism’s survival by keeping its fatal flaws in check, and contrary to what the Right believes Capitalism cannot survive without government along with its regulations. And, this is the type of capitalism that helped make our country the most successful and revered country to ever have existed! Yet, it happens to be the Capitalistic system that the Right has so blatantly been attempting to destroy! But, we still do have time to save this great system that helped created our great society and country by reelecting President Obama, and bringing back this unique system of Capitalism where society sets the rules and standards of commerce, regarding matters like protecting consumers, employees and the environment from irresponsible business practices, such as excessive pollution, risky oil drilling, predatory and reckless bank lending, unsafe workplaces, food, medicine, cars, and airplanes, minimum wages, and discrimination by race and gender. Conservative Political Action Conference - There is a video of Gordon Norquist - Conservative Activist and GOP "GURU" which confirms that all they want in the WHITE HOUSE is a President with enough "working digits" to sign their Paul Ryan Budget......I strongly urge everyone to watch it. Understand what CPAC is and what it represents....Romney have been given "carte blanche" to say whatever he must to get into office...once there he can relax and just sign whatever piece of legislation the GPO has crafted....there will be no reaching across the aisle here...there is only one aisle and they are serving TEA.

16 trillion in debt: driven by Bush tax cuts, two wars, Medicare drug bill. Obama's policies only added 16% to debt.

liberalloosers, It's not Obama that is focusing on abortion. Between the Republican House and the Republican states, how many anti-abortion bills have been passed or attempted in the past two years? Hundreds? I don't think the President proposed even one of them.

The rich and the GOP are conspiring to get rid of the middle class so things can get back to the way they were before 1912 when the election spending law was passed. Thats what they call taking back America.

If "tammy" would have been alive in the Germany of the 1930's, you would only need to substitute "Jewish" for "left wing". Thoughtless followers incapable of deductive reasoning...

Bush and the GOP are to be blamed for driving up the debt but Steve dares claim President Obama didn't cut the GOPTP's debt fast enough IN THE MIDDLE OF A NEAR DEPRESSION? In other words you're willing to put the fox (Mitt) back in the hen house because he will add trillions more to the debt--it's called Arithmetic.

Guess you missed Mitt Romney's saying that during economic recessions, Government must deficit spend? Guess you missed former President Bill Clinton who said no president, not even himself, could have fixed the damage in four years--none.

Romney is trying to widen the electoral college map by spending tons of money on ads in states like Mn and Penn to find a new path to the 270 mark. He is seeing the hole closing in Ohio and he needs to find another avenue. Its going to be VERY hard for the math to add up right for Romney. He's getting desperate.

Obama has already created 5.1 million jobs and Ryan says we're 9 million short?

His party's policies and his party's president is why we are still 9 million jobs short.

By the way, NO president has ever created 14.1 million jobs in 4 years.

The CBO is already projecting that under Obama's policies 11-12 million additional jobs will be created by 2016.

Why don't you talk to Reid about the jobs bills.

Oh, and you might want to talk to him about the budgets as well.

Tammy - or we could talk to the Republicans in the House who have tabled the last 5 jobs bill the President proposed without letting them come to the floor for a vote. Let's start there!

Putting "jobs" in the name of the bill doesn't really mean the bill has anything to do with jobs, "tammy". Apparently it works for thoughtless people so, "tammy" please provide us with a list of the bills you are whining about, how, exactly, the bills would be put into effect and, exactly, how many jobs would be created from them. Then supply us with a list of the same bills that contain language legislating the fascist evangelical agenda. Then, perhaps, we could sit down like adult Americans, find the bills that are economic, not social, in nature and get a few things passed.

So, "tammy", since you know so much, I'll be waiting for your verifiable documentation. (ha-ha)....

Curious....she seemed to know so much about what she was writing about (ha-ha again).

Hey, Ryan, don't forget, your GOPTP built that unemployment number because you voted to put Party First, not Country. You built the economic collapse as sure as you built the massive deficit and debt--then for the next 4 years, you blamed President Obama for the house of cards the Bush/Cheney, you, and the GOPTP built on sand.

Ryan doesn't tell voters that he voted YES for every UNFUNDED piece of legislation from 2001-2008 and he doesn't tell them he voted NO on every single one of President Obama's jobs bills given to Congress including the Veteran's jobs bill. Ryan fails to mention he was one of the GOPers to meet for dinner the night of January 20,2009, to plot their obstruction of everything President Obama tried to do, plot to defeat him while sitting on their rear ends and watching Americans suffer and watching the country's economy crash. Causing harm to the country and Americans meant nothing to the GOP compared to defeating President Obama. There's a special place in hell for that crowd.

Amen, Jody. Watching the people in NY & NJ deal with the storm this week has been heartbreaking---to see the suffering and misery. Yet Ryan and the Republicans sat in Washington and watched millions of their fellow Americans lose their jobs, their savings, their homes and their sense of safety and DID NOTHING, all to defeat President Obama. They deserve to be out of jobs and see how it feels.

I read some where Romney could care less, he's saying it's the Presidents fault. Don't you think it's time he move his family back to Mexico????????????????

If Paul Ryan is so concerned about jobs, why did he (and the rest of the Republicans) vote AGAINST every single jobs bill the president put forward?

It takes a real weasel to hinder someone from accomplishing something, and then blame them for not accomplishing it.

I am an independent and have only voted democratic once in my life.....I promise you I am NOT "breaking hard for Romney" in fact after starting out with a clear open mind months ago and researching and reading everything i can find from every source possible..I have NO idea how anyone could vote for Romney. I am no longer undecided and I feel very good about my choice. Romneys lack of a real plan, inability to really know who the middle class is, wanting to get rid of a much needed Obamacare, his stance on student loans, and his lack of respect for women and their choices has made my final decision much easier. Dont be so sure where the independent voters are heading, especially the women.

Polling since the 3rd debate clearly shows momentum is going toward Obama.

Want more proof, look at the business donations since the 3rd debate. Businesses went from being for Romney to giving to Obama at a 2-1 pace last week. The pace is accelerating this week as they are very unhappy with Republicans for their attacks on ADP, GM, and Chrysler.

if were 9 million jobs short, then thats all the more reason NOT to vote GOP..since Paul Ryan and his fellow house GOP members made it a mission to derail every jobs bill put forth the last 2 years! further, id like to let people know his story about the Delphi plant in Oak Creek WI is COMPLETE BS! My ex's parents worked there, and lost their jobs and pensions before Obama took office! Obama however saved their pensions with the bail out.

The jobs report is colored by the reduction in government sector jobs. If just the private sector jobs are considered, things are recovering at a faster rate. As long as we are cutting back on police, teachers, firefighters and other goverment spending, the growth will be slow. Dealing at Sandy's mess with roads, bridges, and subways should start an examination at our whole structure. We need to pull back on overseas expenses and spend the money at home.
