WEST ALLIS, WI-- Mitt Romney returned to Wisconsin today for the first time since August, delivering his closing argument speech in a state where Republicans hope they can manage a chink in the President Barack Obama's Midwestern armor.
Romney received a raucous welcome from an overflow crowd of 4,000 Wisconsinites chanting "four more days" this morning, welcoming the Republican presidential nominee with some of the loudest support Romney has won since returning to a full campaign schedule in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
"What a great state. What a great welcome, and by the way this state is going to help me become the next president of the United States," Romney said, taking the stage following an introduction from the state's once-embattled Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
"I want to thank you for all that you've done and all you're going to do in the next four days and I want to tell you how much I appreciate being in the home of the next vice president of the United States," Romney said moments later, referring to his running mate Paul Ryan, who was born and raised in nearby Janesville, Wisc.

For the Romney campaign, the presence of a native son of the Badger state on the ticket, along with Walker's strong performance in this summer's failed recall effort, highlight an opportunity to solve a vexing problem -- how to break through Obama's Midwestern firewall.
"They woke a sleeping giant here I would say during the recall," Milwaukee business owner Frank Orlando told NBC News, adding that he was volunteering for a political campaign -- Romney's -- for the first time in his life. He added that half the volunteers he works with are also engaging in politics directly for the first time that cycle.
"We love Paul Ryan," said Grace Lococo, another event attendee from Milwaukee. "We grew up following him."
Romney aides say they see that type of familiarity and enthusiasm as emblematic of a blue state ripe for flipping.
"We see Republican gains in Wisconsin for the past few cycles and we believe its an excellent opportunity for a Romney pickup," Romney spokesperson Rick Gorka said.

Recent polling lends some credence to that theory. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll released earlier this week showed Romney cutting Obama's lead in Wisconsin down to three points -- 49 to 46 percent -- half of what it had been a month prior and within the poll's margin of error.
With the president under the 50 percent threshold, Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes could help Romney succeed on Tuesday should he fail to break through in the race's most critical battlefield of Ohio, where he'll campaign the rest of the day Friday, and return later in the weekend.
For the Romney campaign, Wisconsin has already proven decisive once. The state's primary in April, which Romney won handily, was the last truly competitive contest between Romney and Rick Santorum, and helped wrap up the contentious GOP primary race later that month.

In short, this is the Mitt Romney we knew, or thought we knew, as one of us.
Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party's shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party's radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: "Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?"
The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney's next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear……we have watched him morph into a friend of the far right, then tack toward the center with breathtaking aplomb."
There is no indication that it will be a landslide either way. Most people have always thought that it would always turn out to be a close race with Obama winning anf that looks like what it will come down to.
I never thought after the beating his fellow Republicans gave him during the Primaries anyone would vote for Romney and I still think those that do are nothing but racist sheep! I'm a white male living in Ohio, I hope my fellow Ohioans see what I see.
The Salt Lake Tribune editor and staff have the integrity to call it like it is---unlike quite a few, more prominent publications and many TV news channels who want to see a close race----It's a ratings thing, you know!
I doubt the Tribunes endorsement will have any affect-----Utah is typically a red state and will go to Romney, though wouldn't it be great to see the opposite! I don't see 'Integrity' (unlike Power) as being too important an attribute to a lot of Americans, unfortunately.
My State elected a man who plead the 5th ----I forget how many times and who's company had to pay the largest fine in US history, to date, for Medicare fraud---stealing hundreds of millions from the government----he's now our Governor, was a tea-party supported candidate and is now very wealthy to boot!
I guess justice is as low on the totem as integrity these days!

Jobs, umm don't we export those as proud conservative Republican accomplishments that add to corporate bottom-lines? Oh wait! We have Wal-Mart!... responsible for millions of manufacturing jobs...,. in China... and millions of American retail jobs (they're the largest US private employer) which provide modest wages and minimal benefits but that's ok because most of Wal-Mart's workers have second or third jobs, working spouses/live-ins or access to medicaid, WIC, or food stamps. Your taxes pay for their benefits but so what? Funny how everyone gauges how the Wisconsin voters will vote in Milwaukee and "Mad" City. Milwaukee is nothing more than a welfare city. They put term limits on how long you can be on welfare, but guess someone found a way around it in Milwaukee.

Bain capital is moving an auto parts plant from Illinois to China. The workers losing their jobs have had to train the Chinese. They have also had to TAKE DOWN THE AMERICAN FLAG because the trainees were offended. Mitt Romney may no longer be at Bain capital, but his business philosophy remains! Oh yeah, he's presidential all right! Maybe the folks at the Oshkosh Truck and Fleet Farm should take note voodkokk.
The only 'crack' here is in the lack of logic of the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief." The whole "Crazy Conservative Campaign Of Clown Crap" is still smoking 'crack!' His Economic Policy has more cracks in it, and he has little "Richie Rich" Ryan smoking crack trying to do the math. He is still lost, and very confused! Get out and vote America!
