Is it possible we see a status-quo election?... Final jobs report before election is mostly good news for Obama: Economy added 171,000 jobs in October and unemployment rate ticks up to 7.9%... How to view Romney’s move into Pennsylvania… Don’t compare this election’s data with 2008; compare it with 2004… Trying to predict the turnout, as well as Sandy’s impact… Obama campaigns in Ohio, while Romney will be in Wisconsin and the Buckeye State… Public poll suggests Mourdock is headed for defeat… And “Meet” has David Plouffe and Eric Cantor.
With Election Day looming, the state of Ohio has become the game-changer with President Obama and Mitt Romney planning six visits in the last four days of the presidential race. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
*** A status-quo election? Despite the billions of dollars spent, the endless campaigning, and the breathless reporting, it is POSSIBLE we could end up with a status-quo result on Election Day -- with President Obama winning re-election, Democrats keeping control of the Senate, and Republicans staying in power in the House. Now we’re not saying these things will happen, but with four days to go, you’d probably rather be Obama than Mitt Romney, Senate Democrats instead of Senate Republicans, and House Republicans rather than House Democrats. But if that’s the result on Tuesday, we’d have a status-quo result after three previous change elections (in 2006, 2008, and 2010). And it would be an ironic outcome, given the majorities who believe the country is headed on the wrong track and given Congress’ very low approval rating. Then the challenge would be to govern – with better results than we saw in 2011 and 2012. Of course, it’s possible we see a fourth-straight change election. But it’s also very possible things stay the same.
According to an early estimate from Moody's Analytics, economic losses from the storm will approach $50 billion, including property damage and lost economic activity.
*** Economy adds 171,000 jobs in October, unemployment rate at 7.9%: When it comes to the last jobs report before the election, it’s good news for Team Obama. In October, the U.S. economy added 171,000 jobs and the unemployment ticked up to 7.9% -- but remains below 8%. The AP: "The Labor Department's last look at hiring before Tuesday's election sketched a picture of a job market that is gradually gaining momentum after nearly stalling in the spring. Since July, the economy has created an average of 173,000 jobs a month, up from 67,000 a month from April through June. Still, President Barack Obama will face voters with the highest unemployment rate of any incumbent since Franklin Roosevelt. The rate ticked up because more people without jobs started looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching.”
*** How to view Romney’s move into Pennsylvania: There are two ways to interpret Mitt Romney’s decision to campaign in Pennsylvania on Sunday. Either it’s a move to run up the score (trying to get to 300 electoral votes) and project more momentum, or it’s an effort to search for another path to 270 electoral votes. Ask yourself what is the more likely option, and it’s hard to ignore the latter. Consider: Most public polls continue to show Obama leading slightly in Ohio, and Romney hasn’t made a serious campaign effort in Keystone State since the primaries. Indeed, it’s difficult not to compare this move to an on-side kick in football -- when you’re behind by a touchdown with a few ticks on the clock left.
*** Don’t compare this election’s data with 2008; compare it with 2004: Bracing for a very close election on Tuesday night, we’re sure that everyone is studying past exit polls, county vote totals in the swing states, the early vote, and previous victory margins. But perhaps the best way to compare Tuesday’s contest isn’t with the figures from 2008, when Barack Obama decisively beat John McCain in 2008, 53%-46%. Instead, it’s comparing this election with 2004, when George W. Bush narrowly beat John Kerry, 51%-48%. How Obama is performing vs. Kerry and how Romney is performing vs. Bush might be the best way to understand how Election Night is breaking, especially when it comes to Ohio.
*** Patchwork Nation: One way additional way to compare this election with 2004 and 2008 is through Patchwork Nation, the work by journalist Dante Chinni putting all the nation’s counties -- including those in battleground states -- into 12 different county categories. Some examples: Industrial Metropolis (think Philadelphia), College and Careers (Johnson County, IA), Monied Burbs (Fairfax County, VA), Empty Nests (Lake, FL), Immigration Nation (Maricopa, AZ), Boom Towns (Clark, NV), and Evangelical Epicenters (Christian, MO). What is interesting here: When you take the merged likely-voter respondents from our national NBC/WSJ poll from these different county types, you see that Obama is underperforming from 2008 but overperforming from 2004. For instance, in the Monied Burbs -- which makes up 23% of the country’s population -- Obama is leading Romney by seven points among likely-voter respondents in the NBC/WSJ poll, 51%-44%. That’s lower than Obama’s 12-point lead over McCain in ’08. But it’s greater than Kerry’s two-point edge in ’04, 50%-48%. Bottom line: If Obama is overperforming Kerry from ’04, he’s likely to win. Ditto if Romney is overperforming Bush.
*** Trying to predict the turnout: What will the turnout be on Election Day? The Republican half of our NBC/WSJ polling team has researched the topic, predicting that the number of votes will EXCEED those cast in 2008 -- which was just more than 130 million. But they also believe that the percent of citizens of voting age who will participate will DROP from 2008 (62.9%) and 2004 (63.1%) due in large part to less voter enthusiasm than in those past elections. So how could the number of votes increase but the participation percentage drop? The answer is simple: The U.S. population has grown from 2008 (when there were 210 million Americans of voting age) to 2012 (when there are almost 220 million).

*** And Sandy’s impact on turnout: Here’s another question: What will Sandy’s impact on turnout be? The AP has this quote from turnout expert Michael McDonald: “It’s unlikely disruptions from Sandy would affect the outcome of the election within those states. But if those voters, who are mostly Democrats, end up being subtracted from the national popular vote, you'll get a lower vote share for Obama than he would have received if those people had voted.” And crunching the numbers – if you assume 2008 totals and a 15% reduction in turnout in the coastal counties in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, Obama might end up losing a net 340,000 votes. Our math:
New York: GRAND TOTAL: Obama -247,000

*** Is Richard Mourdock headed for defeat? According to a new poll, it appears that way in Indiana’s Senate contest. “Democratic Senate nominee U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly has built a significant lead in the race for Senate, according to a new Howey/DePauw University Battleground Poll. The poll, released this morning, shows Donnelly leading Republican State Treasurer Richard Mourdock 47 percent to 36 percent, with Libertarian Andrew Horning getting 6 percent.” Now Republicans have released their own poll showing Mourdock at 46% and Donnelly at 44%

FORWARD WITH OBAMA/BIDEN >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Politics and religion. Taboo. Surely, we are told, they don't mix. Our Constitution says government shall not interfere in religion. It would seem obvious that the reverse is also true, religion can't interfere with government. We aren't supposed to talk about religion and politics at work, at play, just about anywhere. Too much fire waiting to be kindled. Too many friendships at risk.
Not here! There's anonymity here. We can put our ignorance on display, we can comment on issues in which we haven't even a superficial knowledge. We can call each other names, we can pretend we're something we're not, we can lie about who we are. Really though, we don't talk much about religion, although we do hear some references about believing in God, or how this is a Christian nation, and such. Strange, it seems as though we've never opened a Bible.
As a non-believer, that seems rather odd to me, as the lessons of the Bible could surely help us along this rocky path we call life. It seems to me, we listen to "religious leaders" who have never opened a Bible. They haven't gotten to page one. Yet, these are the people who keep telling us this would be a great place if they - whoever "they" are - hadn't taken god out of our schools, parks, and just about any place "they" can.
There's a pretty big elephant in the room. How weak is a God who can be thrown out of class by a bureaucrat? The God I learned about is infinite. That's all you need to know. Humans cannot understand the infinite and that's the first lesson we're supposed to learn from the Bible. Book one, "In the beginning..." Remember the snake, the serpent, the devil, the bad guy who went to Adam and Eve and said, "Hey, wanna be like God?" Now God had already said, "My children, My creations, do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Bad zoobies if you do. You cannot know My mind." But, they didn't listen. They ate from the tree, and to this day, their offspring continue to pretend they know the mind of God. Pat Robertson, anyone?
We have televangelists telling us that God did this or that because he was: pissed off at queers, was pissed off by blacks marrying whites, or he was just pissed off. So, he destroyed Louisiana. Next, he's coming for you. Mike Huckabee tells us we have to repeal Obamacare. The last thing his God wants is for us to listen to His Son, you know, Jesus, the guy who healed the poor. Are you gonna go with Mike or Jesus?
Then there's this Tower of Babel lesson. You'll find it in full bloom here on Babel Vine. We don't talk to each other, we talk at each other. We call each other names, even while we're professing our love and devotion to God (right, Ben?). It's strange that so many demand that English be declared the official language of the United States, yet those same people define words any way they want. "Yo, I'm a conservative. Anyone who doesn't agree with me is a libtard."
So many lessons. So little time. Wouldn't hurt a lot of people to sit down and take a look at that Bible that's been gathering dust. Honest. There's some really good stories and lessons in there.
A "New Normal" Jobs Report
Here we go again, today's jobs report gives us numbers that would make us hold our nose during previous economic recoveries, but will have the Obama fanboys beating their chest in today's environment. The bar has been so low for so long that mediocrity is cheered while memories of excellence recede farther and farther from our view. That my friends is the definition of the "new normal" where tepid economic growth, persistently high unemployment and lackluster job growth have become the expectation rather than the exception.
And for this we should be grateful? For this we should shower the president with hosannas and bow as he passes us on the campaign trail? For this we should reward this man with a second term?? Good grief, give me a freaking break. GDP growth is lower in 2012 than it was in 2011, which was lower than it was in 2010. So anyone who buys into the nonsense that we're moving in the right direction hasn't been paying attention. And that's just fine with the folks who are running the president's campaign because their only hope is to harvest enough votes from their low information base to push Obama across the finish line.
But that cynical strategy is destined to fail. Romney scored big in the debates when he criticized the president for devoting so much time and energy to passing health care reform in his first two years rather than focusing on the economy and job creation. That view resonates with the public because then (and now) more folks were concerned with bread and butter economic issues than with health care reform. So Obama can preach until the cows come home that we're moving in the right direction, but that's small comfort to the millions who still can't find jobs. Those folks want results they have yet to see, not the same old rhetoric they've been fed over and over and over again instead.
That's why Romney's core argument that Obama's economic policies have failed is just as potent today as it has ever been.
To Know Mitt Romney Is To Dislike Mitt Romney:
Several months ago John Boehner said that Mitt Romney is not a very likeable guy. Boehner was not alone in that assessment. Bush 43 didn't have much positive to say as he endorsed Romney as the elevator door closed. Now, with four days before the election, Dubya is spending his time in the Cayman Islands giving presentations on how wealthy people can hide their money. Romney's money is there, but Willard is out campaigning as he has already learned how to keep his fortune secret and pay a tax rate of only 14%. Bush 43's visit to the Cayman Islands doesn't appear to be a coincidence.
Then we have Romney's keynote speaker Chris Christie giving our President bear hugs and compliments that haven't been observed in the modern era. There are likely multiple reasons for this extensive demonstration of affection. Christie needs President Obama to help him rebuild his beloved New Jersey; Christie needs to be perceived as a leader as his reelection for governor is on the horizon; Christie will likely run for President in 2016; and Christie is just not into liking Willard all that much.
Jeb Bush is a good Republican soldier by being on the campaign trail with Romney. But let's remember that Jeb had absolutely no interest in being Romney's running mate. Jeb has aspirations of his own; he would be satisfied if Romney lost so Jeb would have an open field in 2016.
Probably one of the most coveted Republican endorsements is that of past Secretary of State Colin Powell. General Powell was very gracious in his endorsement of President Obama, giving him credit for his efforts to improve the economy, ending the war in Iraq, phasing out the war in Afghanistan, and for not engaging in any new wars. Colin Powell had little positive to say about Mitt Romney.
But we are not finished. Yesterday New York mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed President Obama. One of the two reasons he cited was that President Obama is committed to reducing global warming. Romney is fearful of upsetting his conservative base so he is remaining silent on the topic. The other reason Bloomberg cited was Romney's lies and flip-flopping. He is not trustworthy with no core beliefs.
So who likes Willard Romney and is willing to vote for him? Obviously people who don't know Mitt Romney; like poorly informed white males who have voted Republican because their parents voted Republican; Tea Partiers who don't like big government until they need big government; and those whose hatred of President Obama exceeds rational logic will vote for Romney. At best that is about 48% of the population and not enough to win the election next Tuesday. Romney needs to discontinue his stump speech and start working on his concession speech.

I'm not sure what to make of the new employment numbers. It seems like they are headed in the right direction but relatively treading water (honest opinion). The bad number in all this is incomes did not rise, but I know the price of food and gas and other staples have. At this stage in the election process, I do not see how this helps either candidate and they are playing to a statistical tie if you believe the polling.
Should be an interesting next few days.
My prayers for all of those people affected by Sandy. Hopefully we will see some power back on and gas lines easing soon.

UAW FILES CHARGES AGAINST ROMNEY ON HIS AUTO BAIL-OUT PROFITEERING, Broke ethics law hiding millions, say good government groups
According to ethics law expert Dan Curry who drafted the ethics complaint, Ann Romney does not have a federally-approved blind trust. An approved "blind" trust may not be used to hide a major investment which could be affected by Romney if he were to be elected President. Other groups joining the UAW and CREW include Public Citizen, the Service Employees International Union, Public Campaign, People for the American Way and The Social Equity Group.

How DARE you point out the simple math, Dennis!!! ☺
Americans are seeing MItt Romney for exactly what he is: a man without any core convictions, who will sell out to the highest bidder.
An objective observer would have to ask why anyone could support Romney, given his propensity for lying outright and without shame, and when called out on those lies, doubling down on them immediately.
He and Queen Ann need to head back to La Jolla, to finish that garage car elevator.
And Annie, that way, the adults can continue to govern, while you, the immature, continue to play.
Hi All,
An incredible increase in jobs this month ~ 171,000 !!!
Wow. MANY more than expected.
It shows good growth.
On another note my health insurance premiums and deductibles are going again for the 4th straight year. I'm really struggling to see how this ACA is helping this middle class citizen. So glad our government spent two long years during a recession to work on this piece of garbage.
In looking back to President Reagan's first term his jobs numbers were a only a little better than President Obama's first term. For Reagan he had very high numbers during his second and third years.
During the second Obama 4 year term, the numbers will get better.
TAKE IT TO THE BANK…ROMNEY WINS OHIO!!!
Ohio IS a Republican state PERIOD!
41 of the last 49 years Ohio has had a Republican Governor.
The Ohio House and Senate are overwhelmingly Republican.
Every ELECTED Ohio Supreme Court Judge is Republican, 1 D. Justice Brown was APPOINTED
In the 88 Counties of Ohio, has about 750 elected officials and 600 are Republican.
Since 1960 Ohio has voted correctly in every presidential election.
In 1992 Ohio voted for Bill Clinton running against a failing Bush, Ohio chose the more viable candidate.
In 1996 Ohio voted for Bill Clinton running against Bob Dole, Ohio chose the more viable candidate.
In 2008 Ohio voted for Barack Obama because John McCain would not work with local Republicans, Ohio voted for the more viable candidate.
When you give Ohio NO option, Ohio will vote Democrat.
October 3rd 2012 Mitt Romney proved he was the ONLY option for Ohio in 2012!
Absentee votes: Comparing 5 days before the election in 2008 and 5 days before election in 2012. Democrat absentee votes are 230,000 short of 2008 and Republican absentee votes are plus 30,000.
Independent votes: All polls conducted for Independent voters show no less than a 10% advantage to Romney.
ROMNEY/RYAN 2012
...
Great day in the morning if you're a leftie liberal! 171,000 new private sector jobs created. Will the repubs whine again that the numbers were fixed? President Obama is leading in the state polls; Nate Silver confirms it and bet Scarborough $2,000 that President Obama will win. The anti-women Mourdock looks to be headed for defeat. The Romney/Ryan campaign team are desperate and putting up ads so lie filled that Chrysler and GM had to step in to refudiate them in order to assure employees. How many millions did Romney make on Delphi where his wife invested in auto industry stock in 2009 while Mitt declared "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt?" Limbaugh, FOX and the GOPers are so upset with Governor Christie, they cannot contain their anger. Bloomberg endorsed President Obama which adds to the right-wing hyper-ventilation.
It's a great day in the morning here in Iowa, Obama has a 6 point lead over Flip Flop Mitt! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!
Does anyone proof stories at FR?
;~p
Continuing good news on employment figures. Nice increase over expectations. Stock market looking healthy. President Obama looking Presidential with the disaster on our East Coast. Romney looking like a fool with his "CAN DRIVE". Poll numbers just keep creeping up for our President. Things are looking good.

It looks like things are trending Obama's way in the final days before the election.
Just remember this, my friends: it's votes that win elections. Our lovely opinions won't be counted. (But I do thank you for all your lovely opinons, which have buoyed my spirits on some dark days and have enabled me to keep alive my hopes for this country.)
So get out there on the ground and/or on the phone to help with the re-election effort! It's never too late to help until the polls close on Tuesday.
RE-ELECT PROVEN LEADERSHIP!!
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN
171,000 new jobs added once again. 30+ straight months of job growth. FORWARD...
You folks ought to be running Nate Silver for President.
Not sure where you would get your talking point if it wasn't for him and the NYTimes.
Um. That is not true. In general terms, it takes about 150,000 jobs to keep up with population growth... assuming population growth is static and so forth. It may take a little more or a little less month to month and year to year, but saying now that it takes 250k to keep up with population growth is a ridiculous moving of the goalposts.
For all those spouting off about job growth, remember Septembers job growth was revised yesterday (?) and for September it was basically cut in half, according to labor department.
I wish I had a job where my numbers could only be 50% right, and not be FIRED... I guess weathermen are that way as well!!
Can't Afford,
If it is 250K a month then in the 8 years before Obama there should have been 24 million jobs created instead of the 3 million.
The real number is about 150,000 per month.
Well...today's jobs report is probably not going to move the needle in either direction. I think on the whole it was good...not great. One side will point to the jobs added...the other to the increase in the unemployment rate. So into the final weekend we go with a ridiculously close race and pundits on each side predicting their guy is gonna win. I honestly don't know who is going to win. I just think it's going to be close and as Yellowdog - Mark D pointed out yesterday, it may not be decided on election day! Doh!
Have a great weekend all!!
Not sure where you'd get yours, WCA, without Roger Ailes, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, John Boehner, John Sununu, Richard Mourdock, Alan West...gee, there are a lot of right wing crazies!!! You can take your pick.
Lucky guy.
Oh, come on. Now you guys aren't even trying:
I don't know who it was that 'halved' the number of jobs added in September, but it certainly wasn't the BLS.
Just look here:
I'm not particularly interested in having the same idiot monthly squabbles here that I ended up having with them over there because the right wing couldn't internalize the words 'net job creation' versus 'initial unemployment claims' and had no interest in actually learning how the various figures are calculated instead of just regurgitating hopelessness in the nation in order to make their candidate look better.
No matter who wins, it's a status quo election.
Corproratism, crony capitalism, NDAA, war on drugs, Patriot Act, destructive monetary policy, widening wealth and income disparity, inflation, big government, endless wars, TSA, Homeland Security, Fusion Centers, etc = STATUS QUO = Obama/Romney

Texas T, odd, for the second straight year, thanks to ObamaCare, my health insurance premiums and co-pays remained the same. No increase since 2010. Prior to ACA, they increased from 15 to 28% annually. Thank you, President Obama and democrats in Congress!!!

Here we go again, today's jobs report gives us numbers that would make us hold our nose during previous economic recoveries, but will have the Obama fanboys beating their chest in today's environment. The bar has been so low for so long that mediocrity is cheered
That's why Romney's core argument that Obama's economic policies have failed is just as potent today as it has ever been.

Michael, it was ADP that cut the September jobs number in half yesterday.
ADP is who Liberals always run to when the BLS numbers to work out for them.
SEPTEMBER JOBS NUMBERS REVISED ALMOST IN HALF!
I’ll bet President Obama wishes this news didn’t come out for another week. ADP has revised September’s jobs numbers down to almost half of what was previously reported.
The job data was very encouraging. Although I know Fux Snews is already trying to spin the Point One Percent. Odd considering last month the Jobs Data couldn't be trusted. Now all of a sudden a Point One Percent is now their fodder. :)
What's important are the increases in jobs. And not just for October but for the past few months.
Way to go Obama. You're keeping your word.
The economy is moving forward at an accelerating rate despite Republican attempts to slow our recovery from the Great Recession. All Romney has to offer is more and more lies and the Obama economic recovery plan.
12 million new jobs Romney has promised is , according to Moody's, is what we get with current Obama policies and current Obama economy. Mitt offers nothing here except empty rhetoric.

Bloomberg is now reporting that due to a grandfathered in charitable trust, the Romney family is able to effectively launder millions of dollars through what is listed on their tax returns as “charitable donations.” This form of tax deduction loophole was closed some years ago, but this trust is allowed to operate due to a loophole which makes trusts put in place before the new law was put in to place exempt.

A brief history of FEMA:
Jimmy Carter created it.
Bill Clinton greatly improved it.
George W. Bush nearly wrecked it, putting the political hack "heck-of-a-job Brownie in charge of the agency in time to mismanage the Katrina disaster.
Barack H. Obama revived it, ignoring partisan politics putting Craig Fugate in charge of FEMA because Fugate had done an excellent job when he was Jeb Bush's emergency management director in Florida.
A President Mitt Romney would privatize it, because there's BIG money to be made by "entrepreneurs." People sitting on the roofs of their houses as the water rises around them will pay top dollar to be rescued by a corporate helicopter.

Neighbor, it should be obvious to even a blind man.
And you continue to ignore the strength of our recoveries from previous economic downturns Let's go back to the grandaddy of downturns, the Great Depression. In the years 1934-37 real GDP growth came in at 10.9%, 8.9%, 13.1% and 5.1% respectively. Needless to say, the Obama recovery hasn't been anywhere close to that. I won't embarrass you further by posting the numbers for the Reagan recovery coming out of the 1981-82 recession – you can look 'em up yourself.

you're dissatisfied with the pace of the recovery under Obama but you want to elect a guy who f*cked up the Mass economy during 2003-2007 - PRIOR to financial meltdown?
Under Romney, job growth sucked, people left Mass to look for work elsewhere, manufacturing jobs decreased, high paying jobs decreased, property taxes went up by 24%, state college tuition went up by 63%, fees went up by $500 million in the 1st year, the Big Dig fiasco continued, etc.
Analyze your guy who had a 34% approval rating for a reason.
Fairfax Bill
I don't know anyone who's beating their chests, but Fairfax Bill is crying more crocodile tears over the uptick of 0.1% in the unemployment rate while ignoring the increase in jobs. Whenever the unemployment rate goes down, Republicons are always quick to point out that it's due to discouraged workers giving up looking for jobs rather than increased hiring -- even if that's not the reason as was the case for September. But when the unemployment rate goes up a bit as it did in October, they never seem to remember that the reverse is sometimes true: the unemployment rate sometimes goes up even as more jobs are added because people become more encouraged about finding a job and are put back on the roles of those seeking jobs. That was the case in October, as was explicitly stated in this FR article.
Mitt Romney and his "fanboys" will moan and wail about the unemployment rate as if they cared about it as anything other than a political ploy. But if they were really concerned about the unemployed workers, they would call on the Republicans in Congress to stop blocking President Obama's jobs bill. What is really making Romney unhappy about the unemployment rate is that it's not high enough to give him a decisive political advantage over Obama.
Ticked off,

Ummm, and your point is...Einstein?
Bill Fairfax
In the recovery from .com recession in 2001, Bush got two rounds of stimulus. That recession did not have a banking crisis or a housing bust associated with it.
In the recovery from 82-83 recession (largely caused by Fed interest rate hikes to 14% to slow inflation and rising gas prices), Reagan nearly tripled the national debt with huge tax cuts and huge increases in defense spending. Much of this was not needed, especially the Trojan Horse trickle down tax cuts for the rich (who were raking in huge amounts of money from high interest rates on their money). The Fed cut interest rates from 14% to under 6% in 82-83 which by itself would have ended the recession. Baby boomers were entering the most productive years of their lives at this time which accounts for much of the 7 million jobs added after recession ended.
The 2008-2009 recession was far worse and Obama only got one round of stimulus. Obama proposed a second round of stimulus in Summer 2011 when we needed it to keep growth above 3% in face of devastated housing industry, but Republicans blocked it, in order to weaken the recovery and improve their chances on election day 2012.
Republicans threw our recovery under the bus, yet it has proven to be more resilient than Republicans hoped. Republicans put Party before Country and have only attempted to lengthen the recession and slow the recovery with their obstruction. It is time to fire all of these unpatriotic Republican members of Congress.
Bipartisanship is a two way street and the Republicans only sought to put up DEAD END signs.

Obama/Biden 2012
Updated as of 11:00am EST on Friday, November 2 (Final pre-election Jobs Report day!):
Real Clear Politics (RCP) consistently has been the go-to source for accurate averaged daily polling data for both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS. With only 85 hours left to go in the 2012 presidential campaign, RCP continues to report Obama leading in eight of their 11 toss-up states with Romney leading in three.
In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged numbers from RCP as of 11:00am EST together with the most recent FiveThirtyEight election night probabilities of victory for either candidate:
In WISCONSIN, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead has jumped to 5.0%, up from 3.7% this morning. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 91.2% chance of victory here, up by a significant 5.5% from Tuesday.
In PENNSYLVANIA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 4.6%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 96.2% chance of victory here, up by 2.0% from Tuesday.
In MICHIGAN, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 3.0%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 98.6% chance of victory here, up by a slight 0.5% from Tuesday.
In NEVADA, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.7%, up from 2.4% yesterday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 87.7% chance of victory here, up by an astonishing 8.0% from Tuesday.
In OHIO, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead today settled at 2.3%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 80.5% chance of victory here, up by a substantial 7.2% from Tuesday.
In IOWA, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has settled at 2.0%, up from 1.3% yesterday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 78.8% chance of victory here, up by a significant 4.9% from Tuesday.
In NEW HAMPSHIRE, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.0%, up from 1.3% yesterday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 77.8% chance of victory here, up by a substantial 7.5% from Tuesday.
In COLORADO, with 9 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 0.9%, up from 0.5% yesterday. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 64.6% chance of victory here, up by an astonishing 9.2% from Tuesday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In VIRGINIA, with 13 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 0.5%, up from Tuesday's tie. Interestingly, FiveThirtyEight increased Obama's chance of victory here, and NOT Romney's, to 66.4%, up by an astonishing 8.2% from Tuesday.
In FLORIDA, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead has fallen to 1.2%, down slightly from Tuesday's 1.3%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney a 55.1% chance of victory here, down by an astonishing 9.6% from Tuesday.
In NORTH CAROLINA, with 15 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 3.8%, up from Tuesday's 3.0%. FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney an 80.0% chance of victory here, down by a slight 0.2% from yesterday.
So...
In order for Obama to win re-election the least complex route would be through maintaining his current lead in the five toss-up states where his existing margins are widest (Wisconsin at 5.0%, Pennsylvania at 4.6%, Michigan at 3.0%, Nevada at 2.7%, and Ohio at 2.3%). Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 271. In this scenario, Obama could still surpass 270 while failing to hold Iowa, New Hampshire, and Colorado.
However, should Obama fail to hold Ohio, the loss could effectively be neutralized by any of the following combination of wins from states where FiveThirtyEight is currently forecasting Obama victories:
Path #1: Obama loses Ohio but wins the remaining three states where he currently leads, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Colorado resulting in 272 electoral votes.
Path #2: Obama loses Ohio but steals Virginia while also taking New Hampshire, Iowa, OR Colorado resulting in 270, 272, or 275 electoral votes, respectively.
Interestingly, with Romney's lead having diminished significantly in Florida over the past two weeks and with Hurricane Sandy forcefully highlighting the stark contrast between the candidates regarding the value and necessity if not the mere existence of FEMA in a state which has perhaps the greatest dependence on federal storm relief efforts in the nation, a 3rd path has now emerged which could provide for some interesting election night television:
Path #3: Obama comes from behind to win Florida. This scenario would require only that Obama win the three states in which his present leads are widest (Wisconsin at 5.0%, Pennsylvania at 4.6%, and Michigan at 3.0%), resulting in 276 electoral votes.
For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to hold the three states in which he presently leads, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia bringing his electoral vote total to 248, but also steal victories in both Colorado where Obama's lead rose today to 0.9% and in Ohio where Obama's lead settled today at 2.3%. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total would reach 275.
Should Romney fail to steal Ohio he could overcome this shortfall by capturing the four other states in which Obama's current leads are smallest (Colorado at 0.9%, New Hampshire at 1.3%, Iowa at 2.2%, and Nevada at 2.7%) resulting in an electoral vote total of 273.
FiveThirtyEight this morning estimates the chance of Election Day victory for each candidate as follows: Obama 80.9% (up from yesterday's 79.0%) and Romney 19.1% (down from yesterday's 21.0%).
FiveThirtyEight now also projects that on Election Day the final electoral tally will be as follows: Obama 303 (up by 4 from Wednesday's 299) and Romney 235 (down by 4 from Wednesday's 239).
Lastly, although it makes no difference in terms of the final result which can only be determined by the Electoral College, FiveThirtyEight currently predicts a national popular vote distribution on Election Day as follows: Obama 50.5% (up from Wednesday's 50.4%) and Romney 48.4% (down from yesterday's 48.6%).
With only 85 hours of campaigning left, the October jobs report (released this morning to mixed reviews) and an avalanche of related economic information may provide the final bits of information to voters who've chosen to hold out to the very last.
Even Rasmussen now has them as a tie! :D

Backhouse, if everything was so rosy why have the poor, middle class, women and minorities all fare much worse over the last 4 years than their counterparts? Chris says vote for Obama as your middle class lives depend on it? How has that worked out over the last 4 years? Why is it that the Obama economic policies that supposedly protect and help those he claims to be assisting and protecting only do the opposite? Why is that white people have done better than African Americans under Obama? Why is that men have done better than women? Why is it that the poor and middle class have actually done worse under Obama than the working wealthy?
If Obama has accomplished all you state and is so wonderful, why is that the education gap continues to widen and he and his party refuse to embrace education reform but instead embrace the old tired methods of the teacher's unions? Why is it that violent crime is up more this year than ever? Why is that government assistance is now $1 trillion up over 100% since Obama took office if his economic policies were working these numbers would be going down? Why is that Obama's own budget shows assistance growing and the deficit growing faster than ever? If things were so rosy, why is that Obama has split this nation in two instead of the hope and change he promised? If things were so rosy, why is that the states that have adopted his economic policies in the past like California, Illinois and New York are going bankrupt? Why is that GOP led states with the economic policies of Romney like Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, NJ are turning the corner and doing so much better than Obama states?
Finally, if any of you Obama supporters had an ounce of credibility you would be asking Obama why he lied and intentionally mislead the american people regarding Libya. He would come clean before Tuesday and explain what took place and his rationale for the decisions that were made. There very well could be a perfectly understandable rationale for the administration's decisions and actions but at the very least explain it to us. It doesnt mean you cant still vote for you candidate but have some principles and at least ask for an explanation. As long as that is out there, everytime you say that Romney is a liar you must be turning red in the face in embarassment.

Fox's Eric Bolling suggested that President Obama was hypocritical in his criticism of the government's response to Katrina by claiming Obama voted against waiving a bill that restricted emergency funding while accusing former President Bush of refusing to waive those same funds. But Obama, who strongly supported the measure, voted for a previous version of the bill which would have provided the same relief funds, but also included a timetable for withdrawal from the Iraq war.

Backhouse--do you really not understand how basic economics work? Cancer screenings and mammograms at no extra charge? Who do you think pays for it? You do. The extra charge is why your insurance premiums go up so much every year. There is no such thing as no extra charge. ACA provides a lot nice benefits but this concept that it is free is beyond even David Walker's limited knowledge. I understand your campaign need to embellish but at least try to stay within a hundred feet of the truth.
C'mon folks. Surely you are smarter than this. Sheesh. Even out here on the prairie in the most backward (politically speaking) state in the union I CAN SEE IT why can't you?
Yes, 2004, 2008 and 2010 were "change" elections and after six years we've seen how hard change is no matter how hard your work for it. IT TAKES TIME.
If this is a Status Quo election, which I believe it will be, that's GOOOOOOD because it means that real change is coming. Over the next two to three election cycles we'll see the Tea Party trend reversed and erased.
Every pundit, both left and right, are in agreement, when Obama is re-elected the GOP will HAVE TO COME TO THE TABLE AND COMPROMISE or die (figuratively, not literally). The public already has an extremely low opinion of the Republicans in Congress. They blame them more than anybody else for the gridlock in Washington. If they continue their obstructionist strategies it will be a death sentence for their party. They will be marginalized and the political pendulum will begin to swing strongly to the left.
Now this may come as a surprise to some of you, but I consider that as bad as the Tea Party's turn to the hard right.
Government works best when it is working from the MIDDLE, not the left, not the right. The two extremes work to moderate each other and the compromise position is found somewhere in the middle where EVERYBODY gets a little slice of the pie and NOBODY gets to hog the whole pie.
A status quo election signals a change of direction and I believe we'll see that change of direction in the mid-term elections of 2014. It could be a very bad year for the GOP if they don't change their ways and I think they know it.
So, c'mon folks, get with the program. Happy Days are here again. The next four years are going to be exciting. These are the best of times and you know what? I think they about to get even better.

@David Walker#1.3: Interesting and logical piece. Reject the practice of religion myself. The "God" abstraction though, does at least, give me some pause for thought. It is quite peculiar that those who proclaim themselves religionists, and teachers of religion, ultimately claim the worship and adherence of, and to, Biblical dictums, are things one stores, and holds, not within ones heart or mind, but, within the nether regions of ones physical ass, which when useful, can be extracted and weaponized, much as a bowel movement produces feces, along with accompanying gases and stench. Does the "God" abstraction sanction this? I seriously doubt it, but I don't know for sure.
Another very interesting oddity brought to light during this Campaign season. Seems our basic Arithmatical fundamentals have changed from physical absolution to a hodgepodge of bullsh^t, grammar, and illusion. Some call this a theory relative to another abstraction. Could such be right? The stench of bullsh^t prohibits me from getting close enough to the new mutation to actually know. As always, my best regards
These clowns are obviously wrong. I'll be interested to read what they have to say when it turns out that this election is more like 1980.
As for math, it's obvious that this administration is fudging the numbers. In September the numbers said that 114,000 jobs were created. Yet, the unemployment rate fell by .03. In October, the numbers are that 179,000 jobs were created and that the unemployment rate rose by .01%. Do the math. Of course, the biggest thing is that it was predicted, by those on the right, that the unemployment number at election time would be below 8% at the time of the election. How did they know? It's really quite simple, they know the way libs operate. The media has been touting the 8% figure for 4 years. It's the magic number because it never got this high under Bush. How did they get to that figure? It's simple really. There is no count of how many people are actually looking for work. It is just an estimate. So, they can plug in any number they want to come up with the figure they want. How does the unemployment rate drop by .03% when only 114,000 jobs are created? It's easy, even though 114,000 is less than .01% of the total jobs, you just use a reduced figure for how many people are look for a job. That's why more jobs created increased the unemployment rate for October. The spin? They figure that as long as the rate is below 8%, then it would be better for Obama's re-election to be able to put a spin that people are actually more optimistic now and that's why there are more people looking for work. At the same time, they can still claim that the unemployment rate is below 8% (as if 7.9% is terrific news).
The good news? Those who understand politics and economics understand the games being played here and won't be fooled by it. The bad news? Too many people who don't understand this will vote. It will be interesting to see the results come Tuesday.
TNSEVOL -- Nice job in pulling that out for Bill's perusal. He is good at ignoring things though.
He even ignores the fact that our economy was held down, in part, by the Republican obstructionists in Congress. Nowhere does he mention a global slowdown either. Sheesh.
Feisty - The numbers are all cooked anyway, just like the September jobs numbers that were later cut in half. The only blood suckers are the leeches on the left that drain the tax dollars from those of us who are productive.
When will Jerry Springer have a show where they cut open your walls to transport you to a doctor? I'd tune in to that one.
It's pretty simple really...
Even bat sh-t crazy left wing nut jobs can understand it....
If Obam wins America loses...
Pretty simple... gimmie gimmie gimme... spend spend spend... same sh-t different day same result...
DISASTER!!
It's time to turn the page on this failed presidency...
The middle class and your children/grandchildren can't afford 4 more
The point is the republicans can't bring themselves to blame bush for the recession, but have no problem blaming President Obama who wasn't even elected yet.
Why would anyone be dumb enough to vote for the compulsive liar Romney? He is such a good businessman and yet hide the proof with his tax returns?
Thank god I am not smart like the republicans and have not bought the con jobs hook, line and sinker.
Colorado Man,
That was the ADP job number not the Government BLS report.
The BLS reported 114,000 jobs added in Sep and this month revised that to 148,000
It must suck to be a part of the liberal flock of sheep, so stupid to believe the crap about 171,000 jobs created- totally ignore the fact that there were 170,000 lost- morons. Unemployment went UP! Duh-
Romney/Ryan 2012- Real Recovery
Crystal,
Please show us ANY report that shows a loss of 170,000 jobs in October.
White Collar Auto - I saw the Gingrich email story on Yahoo. Search errant gingrich email "obama going to win". Sent to Gingrich supporters mistakenly.
In it Newt says Obama will win in 2012, but bigger story per Newt - Obama will run again in 2016 (breaking the constitution, bring us under his thumb, contempt for America blah, blah, blah). Didn't read the whole conspiracy theory.
Crystal - you prove daily that you fit right in with the low information, low character Republican voters. Yep! You're a definite fit with the totally demented.
Yellowdog - Gingrich again in 2016? Hillary will wipe the floor with him!
Obama/Biden 2012
Americans First--why not defend your candidate instead of denigrating others? I dont blame Obama for anything, I never thought he understood basic economic behavior and disagree with his economic platform and using the last 4 years ACTUAL record, he has failed. I also dont blame Bush for the recession either just like I dont blame Clinton for the recession created by the bursting Internet bubble. Economic cycles and various segment bubbles happen periodically and are always caused by factors far more complex than the President's policies. The real issue is whether economic policies are adopted to bring us out of the recession and clearly Obama fails at this. The segments he claims to be protecting such as the poor, middle class, women and minorities have actually fared economically worse under Obama.
Nobody who is voting for Romney has anything to do with dumb. We just feel he is far more qualified to bring the economy back and is no more of a panderer for votes than Obama. The liar comments just are campaign tactics that are a waste of time especially in light of Obama's recent "whopper of a lie" on Libya. So you should probably "stand down" on the liar campaign tactics. Same thing on the tax returns as that is just as a silly issue. No one cares.
Dont you think the con job was Obama? Seriously think back to 2008 and your expectations for what he would accomplish. Dont you think you were conned? Remember that hope, change, transparency, bipartisanship, economic growth model, rising of the middle class and minority financial stability and on and on? Come on at least be somewhat objective as there is no way you can say you werent conned over the last 4 years.
Barry campaigned in 2008 for Hope & Change, transparency in government, deficit reduction, a new Washington, "shovel-ready" jobs, and a bunch more.....
And what did we get?
No hope for change
A government so transparent no one knows what is going on
Another $6 TRILLION ADDED to the deficit
Cabinet members with tax issues, lobbyist in the White House, under-the-table deals with special interest groups, in general... business as usual for DC
No change in unemployment for the last four years
I agree Barry deserves time, just not in the White House
U6 is 14.6 % unemployment. WARN act ignored. Such manipulation.
DCIA -- READ:
"Our analysis of the data shows that steep expansions tend to follow deep contractions, though this depends heavily on when the recovery is measured. In contrast to much conventional wisdom, the stylized fact that deep contractions breed strong recoveries is particularly true when there is a financial crisis. In fact, on average, it is cycles without a financial crisis that show the weakest relation between contraction depth and recovery strength."

seeking -- why must you distort? i said they had control, not super, get it straight.
why do you think they ignored the economy? would seem like the 2010 vote was indicative of the citizens displeasure with that decision.
so are you suggesting that unless obama gets super majorities in the house and senate he will be incapable of getting anything done?
since it is generally understood that the senate will remain democrat without a super majority and the house will remain republican what will he do? continue to simply blame republicans? not much of a vision or strategy in that.
Steve,
Please learn the difference between "Debt" and "Deficit".
Thanks
Nice post Seeking Sanity--I see you still think you change hearts and minds with the same personal attack drivel. Do you have no ability to take the high road and just ignore posts you disagree with? Why not reply with substance? Is your intent to say that anyone who votes GOP is of low intelligence and low information (your favorite personal attack words) and of low character? Every single GOP vote? You must be so much fun at the family picnic when there are different opinions on any issue.
OMG
Top Headline on Fox News (not opinion, mind you - they are still pretending they add any kind of factual 'news' like information to the discourse - 1st stop at funny today):

171K New Jobs Added, 170K New Jobless
Apparently they, much like their 'championed' candidate - don't intend to let FACTS dictate their news feed!
Will somone kindly inform THEM (and Broccoli Bill up top) that the Jobs number is shown NET of the Jobless Claims.
Oh, and the WORST JOBS NUMBER SINCE FDR meme, patently false, as well.
Sheesh, I almost feel sorry for them, however they willfully spew forth misinformation - so I guess I feel MORE sorry for their 'education'. But by all means, let's CUT that spending, too!
and their 2nd top story? MORE MISINFORMATION about Benghazi,...and here the little cretins thought they HAD something. What a pity.

The 171,000 jobs were NET jobs created, the result of all new jobs and all jobs lost.
So if 170,000 jobs were truly lost in October then jobs created was 241,000 for NET jobs created of 171,000.
As detailed above (many times) the Unemployment rate went up slightly despite NET jobs being created because more people started looking for jobs again in an improved jobs market. - adding to the workforce.
I know Republicans struggle with basic math but this is pretty simple stuff.......
David Walker,
Great post at 1.3. I feel I have been badgered all week for stating that I believe in God and I am a liberal. For some reason, a lot of the posters on here don't think that's possible.
It's been quite the week on the boards. I for one am looking forward to not hearing about Mitt & Co's lying mouths for a LONG time as I hope the rest of America is as well.
Obama/Biden 2012
You should see them try to solve Mathematical Word Problems. :D
LOL it was made and confirmed by you. Thanks. :D
it is interesting how when the rate goes up as it did today we get a lot of folks on the left explaing things and when the rate goes down we hear them cheering.
regardless -- the rate is higher today than when this administration arrived.
So sick of these "better than expected" jobs numbers. We are barely treading water. Have our expectations been so tainted that you actually think this is acceptable?

isn't it sad that you have to point this out? It's shocking that so many don't know the difference. What's even more shocking is that they still attempt to have a discussion on a subject they know nothing about...
Bill Fairfax
Recessions caused by financial crisis not only produce longer recessions, but also take much longer to recover from recession. Our last recession caused by financial crisis was the Great Depression. Unemployment rose to over 25% before effective stimulus spending revived economy and lowered unemployment to 10%.
Why is this? A financial crisis puts lenders in desperate situation with heavy bad debt loads. Our recent housing crisis eroded homeowner equity and loaded lenders with bad debt. Without stimulus, millions more would have been unemployed and many of these people would have defaulted on their home mortgages, their home equity loans, and their credit card debt. This would have dramatically increased the amount of bad debt lenders would have had, probably precipitating another bank bailout.
In addition, a recession reduces consumer spending and investment. Sales decline putting businesses in financial peril. Business failure would only add to the lenders bad debt load.
The only way out of the downward spiral of a financial crisis caused recession is stimulus spending where our government borrows the unused investment capital and spends it to stimulate growth, so the scenario above can be avoided.
Obama did the right thing with his stimulus. It is sad Republicans chose not to support his stimulus plan. But they were more interested in making Obama fail than they were in helping to end the recession and speed the recovery. Republicans betrayed the interests of Americans and do not deserve to be rewarded for their unpatriotic actions of putting Party before Country>

Bill in Fairfax -
You continue to post critiques of this recovery versus prior recoveries, seemingly claming that Pres. Obama's policies are slowing the recover and Romney's policies would accelerate it.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
All previous recoveries have been supported by both increased public sector employment and government deficit spending. FDR and Reagan both took this approach, with at least some bipartisan support. Republicans in Congress have obstructed Pres. Obama's plans, and cuts in Federal and State fuding have led to massive public sector job losses.
If public sector employment had remained constant during this crisis then the unemployment rate would be roughly equal to prior recovery periods.
Higher employment and less demand for government assistance would undoubtedly have led to higher GDP from the increased demand for goods and services.
A better question would be why the Romney plan to further cut taxes (that are already at historic lows) and decrease government spending would have a favorable increase on the rate of the recovery?
Once again, the facts do not support that conclusion and the math does not add up.

Did you even read the link you posted? It says nothing about the ACA, only LOWER ENERGY PRICES.
Is this change you can believe in? Do you really want four more years of this crap? I say, NO THANKS! --
Over 8% unemployment for a record 43 months in a row! It's now said to be 7.9%, up from a month ago, which still stinks. Oh, BTW, they didn't include California in the totals, which has over 10% unemployment. Duhhh. So, it's still over 8% folks.
Over $16 trillion in debt and counting? He increased it five trillion rather than reduce it five trillion as promised.
Over 14% unemployment for blacks.
Anemic economic growth, year after year, after year.
No budget for the past three years as required by the Constitution.
A healthcare plan that will cost over three times what they said it would, was opposed by over 60% of the population, sucks over $700,000,000 out of Medicare to help pay for it, and wasn't even read by any member of Congress that voted for it? How could you vote for a bill you haven't even read?
Solyndra FAIL and cover-up (or at least no due diligence) that cost taxpayers over half a billion dollars.
FAILURE to protect our embassy in Libya resulting in the deaths of four Americans, and the cover-up afterward.
Fast and Furious FAILURE, resulting in the death of a boarder control officer and the cover-up by the Obama administration. Holder held in contempt of Congress.
This presidency is a failure and it is time for Americans to realize it and vote for a man that is highly qualified to lead us out of it, Mitt Romney.
PLEASE help us and do what is right for America: Vote Obama out.
Benghazi Obama blames , you tube, free speech , our 1st amendment..
Fast and Furious, Obama blames , our 2nd amendment for the violence in Mexico.
Obama 2012 Give me your Money, Give me your Freedoms !

Read this article from Thomas Sowell before you even consider to vote this November. Forward it to your family and friends:

If Obama wins, "then the fate of America -- and of Western nations, including Israel -- will be left in the hands of a man with a lifelong hostility to Western values and Western interests.
President Obama is such a genial man that many people, across the ideological space, cannot see him as a danger.
For every hundred people who can see his geniality, probably only a handful see the grave danger his warped policies and ruthless tactics pose to a whole way of life that has given generation after generation of Americans unprecedented freedom and prosperity.
The election next November will not be just another election, and the stakes add up to far more than the sum of the individual issues. Moreover, if reelected and facing no future election, whatever political constraints may have limited how far Obama would push his radical agenda will be gone.
He would have the closest thing to a blank check. Nothing could stop him but impeachment or a military coup, and both are very unlikely. A genial corrupter is all the more dangerous for being genial.
Bayllie-
I know! I can't believe the misinformation and complete lack of understanding on things as simple as the Unemployment Rate and NET jobs created.
It does explain the Romney candidacy, though. What was it the GM spokesperson said about the Romney auto ads?
I couldn't have said it any better. In fact, I think Romney himself is 'bereft of any fundamental understanding' of what it takes to be President.
..and as I write this I see alan3008 quoting Thomas Sowell...
Thomas Sowell also compared Pres. Obama to Hitler, and contnues to make WILD claims about a moderate-leaning President.
Seriously? Thomas Sowell is what passes for intelligent discourse in the Republican party today? I rest my case.
The House of representatives is the problem, the GOP obstructionists need to be shown the door. They put party and monopolistic corporations ahead of county and we the people.
The first step to a stronger citizenry and middle class is to make them healthy, literally. By not garnishing every asset they have for health care needs is a must needed fix and a good place to start.
The status quo that needs to be watched and shut down are the GOP thief's who will stop at nothing in their quest for a fascist system to rape all of America's assets for their personal gain.

I find it hilarious that you consider yourself to be knowledgable about politics and economics, yet you contend that the Bureau of Labor Statistics is cooking the books. The BLS is staffed by dedicated economists and statisticians who take great pride in the accuracy of their numbers. They look at the size of the labor force and the number that have gained or lost employment.
Sometimes, the labor force will decrease as it did in September. This can be due to a multitude of individual decisions such as families where one parent finds a job and the other parent can stay at home with the kids, or a couple nearing retirement age who decide that with recovered health of 401K and house value, they can now take the long-delayed retirement they have been looking forward to instead of finding another job, or the young person who decides that he or she will return to college to finish or add to their education.
Sometimes, the labor force will increase as it did in October. Discouraged workers see increased opportunity for employment, so they resume their job search.
The fact is 170,000 + jobs were added to our economy in October and more increases are expected in the future due to increased consumer confidence, increased consumer sending, an increase in home construction, and business seeing increased sales and an opportunity to grow their business.
Our economy is recovering and gaining momentum. The BLS does good numbers free from political interference. When the numbers look bad, you do not question their accuracy. Only when the numbers look good do you question them. You are not respectful of facts or experts. It is way past time for you to get another more honest news source.
OBAMA 2012....for a better and fairer future for America
G. Bud- I find your comment so narrow minded. Let's also bring up Harry Reid who refuses to work with the GOP and not pass some of the bills that will help this country. It takes two .!!!!!!!!!!!! Also lets bring up Obama and the Left who slammed the door in the GOP 's faces when they refuse to take some of the GOP 's ideas. So for you to just point out one side is very ignorant on your part.
All I can think of when I read the liberal responses here is :
1. They haven't had ACA affect their health insurance premium yet (as in raising it)
2. They aren't paying (with their earned money) for gas to get to work
3. They aren't paying (with their earned money) for food to eat
4. They aren't working without a raise for three years
5. They don't have a 401k that still hasn't fully recovered
6. They aren't happily working in a multi-racial atmosphere
Because if they were actually living and working out here in the real world, they would see what complete and utter garbage obama has passed in this country.
And Beverly, you have won the most Clueless Racist Bitch prize for today.
HOORAY!!! 171,000 new jobs! Thats amazing Mr. President. How many new unemployed? I mean it must not be that much since we are celebrating this 171,000 new jobs right? Wait...how many? Oh...170,000 new unemployed.... Oh. Great job i guess? So 171k new jobs offset by 170k new unemployed that ends up being a difference of 1,000. How much did it cost to get to that phenominal difference?
NBC WILL NOT REPORT THIS SO I WILL
Mitt Romney has criticized President Obama for giving green energy subsidies to campaign donors, but a new report out ahead of the debate tonight shows that this White House’s crony capitalism has a foreign policy angle.
HillStone International won a coveted government contract in part because the company has “the little brother of the vice president as a partner,” as David Richter, president of HillStone’s parent company explained to investors in a recent meeting reported on by Fox Businesstoday.
“Since November 2010, James Biden has been the executive vice president of Hill International’s housing subsidiary despite little if any documented work history in residential construction,” Fox explains. “And if the company’s projections are accurate, both Hill and Biden are on the verge of a huge payday, beneficiaries, some analysts believe, of James Biden’s connections to the Obama Administration through his older brother.”
In the Fox report, a former Hill executive who worked on getting the project had this to say about HillStone: “You have to realize that these guys are relentless businessmen and they have the right connections.”
Romney has already proven himself willing to go after Obama for crony capitalism, as he did during the first debate. “[T]he place you put your money makes a pretty clear indication of where your heart is,” Romney said. “Ninety billion dollars. And these businesses, many of them have gone out of business. I think about half of them — of the ones that have been invested in have gone out of business. A number of them happen to be owned by people who were contributors to your campaigns.” The housing contract in Iraq is expected to generate $1.5 billion for James Biden’s HillStone, according to Fox, so the report could pave the way for an awkward moment for the president in tonight’s debate on foreign policy.

Geraldo Rivera totally pwned Bill O'Reilly on Benghazi. Like or not like Geraldo, he gives a good argument. "You are putting blood on the water for political sharks, Bill!"
Even Geraldo sees the truth about what actually happened in Benghazi! Vigorously arguing that Obama was not aware... Geraldo is clear to say he is a registered Republican, just in case anyone on the plant has missed that...
I can't create a link. Just Google "Rivera: Obama's opponents trying to 'score points' on Libya"
It's on Yahoo news.
Maybe this link will work...
I love the spin that MSN an NBC puts on this data. They have to support the man they have been in bed with for four years just to back their stance. Losing credibility the whole time. The main stream press is viewed as less credible that ever before in the history of journalism. Maybe when Romney is elected they will bring back their journalistic credibility they lost in the last 4 years. Doubtful, but we can hope. Come next Wednesday, Republicans, conservatives, mean and women of all races and religions will be dancing in the street when this impostor is voted out of office.
Independents for Romney/Ryan 2012.

That does NOT sound like Republicans were planning to "work with" anybody AND we heard Mitch McConnell AND Eric Cantor loud and clear saying there would be absolutely no compromise.
ALL of the folks who refused to "work with" the President and/or other members of Congress were Republicans who thought they could sabotage the most powerful nation in the world AND the President of the United States.
Blame yourselves Republicans, you created hate speech and then sent a bunch of baffoons to Washington so you could make SURE nothing got done.
Well thank the stars President Obama was STILL able to get the job done, while Republicans sat in Washington collecting their paychecks for doing NOTHING.

NBC NOT REPORTING I WILL
Senior counterterrorism officials felt cut out of the loop the night of the attack on the Benghazi consulate, according to emails that were shared with Fox News by military sources who are familiar with discussions of how to respond the night of the Sept. 11 attack.
Top State Department officials decided not to send an interagency rapid response unit designed to respond to terrorist attacks known as a FEST team, a Foreign Emergency Support Team. This team from the State Department and CIA has a military Joint Special Operations Command element to it and has been routinely deployed to assist in investigations -- for instance, after the USS Cole bombing and the bombings at the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
That team, these counterterrorism officials argue, could have helped the FBI gain access to the site in Benghazi faster. It ultimately took the FBI 24 days.
"The response process was isolated at the most senior level," according to one intelligence source. "Counterterrorism professionals were not consulted and a decision was taken to send the FBI on its own without the enablers that would have allowed its agents to gain access to the site in Benghazi in a timely manner." The FBI team did not get on the ground in Benghazi for several weeks after the attack and at that point any "evidence" had been rifled through by looters and journalists.
"A better response approach could have certainly allowed the FBI to access the site much sooner than the 24 days it would eventually take," a source in the counterterrorism community said.
Further, the Counterterrorism Security Group, or CSG, was never asked to meet that night or in subsequent days, according to two separate counterterrorism officials, as first reported by CBS News. The CSG is composed of experts on terrorism from across government agencies and makes recommendations to the deputies who assist the president's Cabinet in formulating a response to crises involving terrorism.
National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told Fox News, "the most senior people in government worked on this issue from the minute it happened. That includes the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Secretary of State, National Security advisor, etcetera. Additionally, the Deputies Committee -- the second in command at the relevant national security agencies -- met at least once and more often twice a day to manage the issue."
But the latest revelations, including reporting by Fox News that the State Department was warned a month before the attack that the consulate could not withstand a coordinated strike, have sparked renewed criticisms from top GOP lawmakers.
"Enough already, Mr. President," Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. said in a statement. "You need to address the American people and account for your leadership in the attack on our Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. You should explain to the American people what you knew, when you knew it, and what you did about it before, during and after the attack."
Several government spokesmen suggest that the president's top advisers were meeting that night to oversee the response, suggesting the employment of the Counterterrorism Security Group was not necessary.
As to why the FEST was not sent, State Department spokesman Philippe Reines responded that "the first thing to know is that it's not a security team. It's primarily a resource that State can send to help restore a facility. Best example is Nairobi after the bombing because the Embassy suffered such significant damage. It couldn't function properly without resuming basic infrastructure needs like communications. In this case, that was not necessary as Embassy Tripoli wasn't impacted and could, as it does today, continue to function normally."
Administration officials didn't know in the initial hours whether they had a potential hostage situation. According to an account now provided by the CIA and quoted by the Washington Post's David Ignatius, at 1:15 a.m. (more than three hours after the attack began) when Stevens was still missing: "the first idea is to go to a Benghazi hospital to recover Stevens, who they rightly suspect is already dead. But the hospital is surrounded by the al-Qaeda-linked Ansar al-Sharia militia that mounted the consulate attack."
This part of the CIA timeline released by the agency on Thursday suggests that the night of the attack, the CIA's Global Response Staff, or GRS, agents knew that an Al Qaeda-linked group was at the hospital where the ambassador's body had been taken -- and yet days later the CIA provided talking points to the administration before U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice went on five separate Sunday talk shows and made no mention of terrorism.
Fox News has learned that U.S. military intelligence was informing senior commanders as early as 7 p.m. ET -- less than four hours after the attack began -- that Ansar al-Sharia carried out the attack. The intelligence was relayed to the military with no caveats, according to a source familiar with the intelligence.
Further, Fox News has been shown two independent State Department cables, which have now been published by Foreign Policy magazine, that show that on the day of the attack Stevens' team sent cables expressing concern that the consulate was under surveillance. At least one of the cables says the Libyan police themselves -- the security force provided to the U.S. consulate by the Minister of Foreign Affairs -- was photographing the Consulate at 6:43 a.m. on the morning of the attack.
U.S. intelligence officials tell Fox News there were reports from eyewitnesses in Benghazi on Sept. 11 that an armed militia was gathering three hours before the attack on the consulate began at 9:47 p.m.

Sowell was an avowed Communist in the 1960's. What this shows me is a man who has tunnel vision. He is so focused on specifics that he completely loses his perspective on the world. This is a common criticism of his work as he ignores alternate explanations completely. His work does not meet any kind of standard for unbiased, comprehensive analysis. It is no wonder he has found his place in the pantheon of right wing ideologues.
So, you must be a Communist sympathizer (I'm applying rightie thinking standard here) to follow this guy's lead.

There is so much talk about the great depression it might be interesting to look at the numbers then. And to remind ourselves that what we are going through today is the SECOND great economic collapse in modern American History brought on by Republican Administrations.

As you can see, from a 1929 figure of 3.14,unemployment continued to raise to 24.75 in 1933.Before slowly going down to 9.66 in 1941. FDR was re-elected in 1936 with 16.8 and in 1940 with 14.45 unemployment.
These figures are far higher than the last four years. And the President's figures would have gone down much further if the Republicans in Congress had acted as patriotic Americans and put their nation before their party. Had they joined the President in trying to rebuild America our recovery would be moving along much faster than it is. When the history of these times is written the Republicans will not be seen in a good light by historians.
Drink the Koolaid much people??? 171,000 is about 5 city blocks in NY...there are over 12 million unemployed. So picture Missouri and Tennessee filled with only jobless people. Plus are these temporary positions? Did wally-world open a couple of new stores? Our economy is in the toilet no matter what the mainstream media wants you to believe...they make GREAT money! Frankly, I am tired of both platforms running on moral issues...you like and support planned parenthood and PBS then donate money to them! You want to pray then do so in your head if God is truly as powerful as you think then He/She/It will hear you. If you don't like abortions don't have one. None of these issues effects survival, JOBS effect survivability! Plus on Obamacare if you don't have money or a job and can't buy your insurance then what???? Medicaid is only for broke people with kids under 18, disabled and people over 65. There is a ton of people that have no access to healthcare...anyone who works minimum wage or is unemployed. The key folks is to improve our economy and Obama has proven very inept in this regard.
So while many of you are stuck in the "Forward" or whatever you fail to read the article that suggest it will be the same old same old if there is not a total change in the Congress. If you have a President who has demonstrated his lack of ability to work across the aisle what have you accomplished if you re-elect him? Just asking you to analyze the results of the last four years and see if the current administration shows even a hint of leadership ability. The facts seem to indicate a divider not a uniter. We need the later not the former.

When someone cites NBC news and thinkprogress.org as reliable, neutral sources, they've lost all credibility.
Kirk-Nobody who is voting for Romney has anything to do with dumb. We just feel he is far more qualified to bring the economy back and is no more of a panderer for votes than Obama.
Considering the base elements of the Republican Party are made up of Teabaggers,Birthers,FOX-Limbaugh followers, and racists. I do think they have a lot to do with "dumb".
But as for you thinking Romney would be better for bringing our economy back. What on earth do you base that on. He is a 1%er whose only experience in business has been as a vulture capitalist. He and his ilk have been the source of the collapse of our economy. He proposes programs that most non-partisan economists reject as doing even more harm to the middle and lower classes of our people. Just to benefit the fat-cats that control 89% of our nations wealth already. He even now says it would take him 8-10 years to balance the budget. While complaining that President Obama hasn't done it in four.
But even leaving aside his horrible economic ideas. His and Ryan's social policy plans, would strip the poor and seniors of their vital safety net (as small as it is anyway). His education policy ideas would harm education in this country. And the Teabagger war on women would attempt to bring our country backwards to the 1950's.He has no credit with foreign leaders (Netanyahu excepted, afterall they share the same bankroller in Shelton Adelson). All our allies from Europe to Asia fear a Romney Presidency as a return to the Bush years of warmongering. Lastly, there is to me,if not you,a problem I have with him.I know that in elections you hear a bunch of self-serving statements from candidates, and half-truths,its part of the game. No matter how much we hate it. But with Romney,he has made an art-form out of lying, and flip-flopping on issues. I can't vote for a man I can't trust where he stands on an issue, agree or disagree with him. And one that will lie brazenly over anything, that to me disqualifies him from being our President.
The President's efforts to solve our unemployment problem and to control the deficit have not worked. The President's economic plan for the next for years is devoid of detail and budget and is mathematically impossible.
The Obama administration document on the stimulus stated what the stimulus was designed to do. According to that document if the stimulus were passed unemployment would not go above 8%. That did not happen. The Obama administration created and used this document to sell the stimulus spending bill as the solution to the nations unemployment problems. The stimulus did not solve our unemployment problem. According to that official administration document if the stimulus did its job as it was designed then unemployment should now be well below 6%. Furthermore, if the stimulus bill had done its job then the President would not have to propose a second stimulus. The numbers in that document were not presented as speculation, they were presented as specification. This official Obama administration document said what the stimulus was going to do. Clearly what the Obama administration said would happen did not happen.
To me, reelecting the President means 4 more years of the same just hoping that things change. The President's new program to fix the the economy is just more of his same on going program to fix the economy. My biggest concern is all of the debt that has been building up. I estimate that an additional 5 trillion dollars of debt will end up costing the tax payers 50 trillion dollars to repay in 180 years. I agree with the President when he stated:
And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.
Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans–a debt tax that Washington doesn’t want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.
Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
~ Senator B. H. Obama, March 2006
When children throw tantrums because they don't agree with what their parents decide, the parents have two choices: they can change their minds to placate their child in the short term, or they can insist on their decision and indicate that tantrums don't win the day.
When the House decided to throw a tantrum because they didn't like what the American people decided in the '08 election, they were directly challenging the authority of the public to make the decision we made. They essentially told the public that we were wrong, and they weren't going to stand for it.
This is why re-electing Obama is not a 'status-quo' action. It is, in fact, the first time in four years that the public has a chance to tell the extremists in the House, who have shut down our government, blocked our policy wishes and even tried to hurt us economically, that their tantrums have not changed our minds, that we meant it when we said we were not going back to the policies that destroyed the economy and hurt so many people, and that they need to straighten up and live with our decision.
We know who created problems in Washington, and it is time to put an end to it. As any responsible parent knows, appeasing our children when they throw a tantrum only encourages that kind of behavior in the future. It is time to let them know we will not be swayed by their red-faced threats. It is time to show resolve, and re-elect President Obama.

ARE YOU A VIRGIN. When the Timeline does not fit the narrative, change the Timeline.
Do you honestly believe Anonymous "Officials".
At least what allenjames posted stated specific Names, and Groups of people.
However, both of you are MISSING THE BIG PICTURE:
Without disclosing Classified (information withheld from US Public):
Life during President Gaddaffi, contract with Libyan Citizens in his "Green Book": Loans to Libyan citizens were given with "NO interest". Students would get paid the average salary for the profession they are studying for. If you’d be unable to get the employment the state would pay the full salary as if you were employed. When you got married the couple got an apartment or house for free. You could go to college anywhere in the world, the state paid 2,500 euros plus for accommodation and a car. The cars were sold at factory cost. Libya does not owe money, (not a cent) to anyone, No credits. Free education and health care. 25% of population with a university degree. No beggars on the streets and no homeless. Bread costs $0.15. Gasoline $0.33 per liter, during the attacks $0.66 per liter. Human Rights and Libyan Citizen's Rights as praised by the UN and UA (African Union). All this disappeared after the Overthrow of President Gaddaffi.
President Gaddaffi and Libya as a US Ally, to get the President Bush US and UN Sanctions and Embargoes lifted so he would ship Libyan Oil to the US European Allies: Collaborated with the CIA. President Gaddaffi had his Libyan Military hunting the Islamic Jihadists at Libya. Stopped his pursuit of Nuclear Power. Turned over his Chemical Weapons to the US. Transfer of US Islamic Jihadists Prisoners from Guantanamo to President Gaddaffi's Prisons (including later President Obama's). Human Rights and Libyan Citizen's Rights as praised by the UN and UA (African Union).
The Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations is demanding President Gaddaffi's Death for Collaborating with the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, a Death Penalty Fatawa is issued.
Most of the work that the Libyan Citizens do not want to do are done by Foreigners brought into Libya, and have no Libyan Citizens Rights nor the Libyan Citizens Entitlements listed in President Gaddaffi's Green Book.
The Holy Warriors of Islam (aka Islamic Jihadists) are gathering at Libya, after the Overthrow of US Ally Egypt. Many Intelligence Agencies are stating that these Islamic Jihadists are the Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. as trained by the Quds Special Forces of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran at the Fundamentalist Islamic Autonomous Kurdistanis Region of Northern Iraq, Syria, Southern Turkey, and Northwestern Iran to Overthrow the Established Governments of US Allies.
President Gaddaffi warns everyone about the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists gathering at Libya, President Gaddaffi's Military starts to fight them, the Islamic Jihadists go back and forth between Libya and Egypt, so President Gaddaffi's Libyan Military cannot eliminate the Islamic Jihadists without violating Egypt's Sovereignty. President Obama ignores this just like he ignored US Ally Iraq, US Ally Egypt, US Ally Saudi Arabia, US Ally Turkey, US Ally Pakistan, President of Syria, etc. until it was too late.
President Gaddaffi f**ks up, declares Libyan Oil Nationalization. Due to President Obama's Policies the US and US Allies have lost the Iraqis Oil, this makes the Libyan Oil of Strategic Importance to the US European Allies. Other Governments that previously declared Oil Nationalization, with them being Overthrown, Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh of Iran (1953), President Hussein of Iraq "Modernization of the Arab World" (Iraqis Oil Nationalization). Failed US Overthrow attempt President Chavez of Venezuela (1999-2000).
Why Benghazi: Thousands of Islamic Jihadists flood into Benghazi with the Asymmetric Warfare intent of killing the Libyan Military Guards, seizing the weapons, ammunition at the the 60 bunker Hight Razma facility on the eastern outskirts of Benghazi and a 35 bunker facility on the eastern outskirts of Ajdabiyah." The term "bunkers" is a misnomer as some of these "bunkers" were the size of warehouses. After the Libyan Military Guards were massacred at these Libyan Munitions Depots, the Facilities were left unguarded. This is how about 20,000 shoulder launched portable SA-7 anti aircraft missiles ended up "missing"; believed to be currently in the hands of Al Quada and the rest of the Islamic Terrorists (Jihadist, Worldwide Islamic Military), possible use shoot down US and US Ally Commercial Airlines (Aircraft) worldwide (after all the other publicly known failed attempts); most US Military and US Ally Military Aircraft have detection and countermeasures (some are still shot down by SA-7s, mistaken for RPGs (similar warhead). ). Then inciting the Foreign Workers brought into Libya to demand Libyan Citizens Rights and Entitlements.
President Gaddaffi sends his Libyan Military to fight the Islamic Jihadists and Foreign Worker Protesters and Demonstrators gone violent (murdered Libyan Military).
President Obama then claims that President Gaddaffi is a "Dictator Killing his own people" (not Gaddaffi's own Libyan Citizens but Islamic Jihadists).
President Gaddaffi orders the Foreign Workers to leave his Country, most do not and actively join the Islamic Jihad to Overthrow President Gaddaffi the Collaborator to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers; again the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations demands the Overthrow of President Gaddaffi.
The Libyan Oil:
During the "G" Meeting at France, that was attended by SOS Clinton, the European Oil Corporations Lobby the European Politicians to Overthrow President Gaddaffi to stop his Libyan Oil Nationalization (majority of Profits remain in Libya); the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations (Original Charter the Elimination of the Jews) as a new Member, League of Arab States, aka Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations, demands the Overthrow of Former US Ally President Gaddaffi and February 22, 2011 remove President Gaddaffi from membership (President Gaddaffi's Military killing Holy Warriors of Islam originally went to Libya to Overthrow President Gaddaffi as previously demanded by the Fundamentalist Islamic League of Arab States.).
These European Oil Corporations demand President Gaddaffi's Overthrow to stop his Libyan Oil Nationalization: BP (Britain), Total, Elf (France), Eni (Italy), OMV (Austria), Statoil (Norway), etc.. So instead of these European Oil Corporations hiring cheap Libyan Labor then keeping all the Profits, with Gaddaffi's Resource Nationalization, they would get almost nothing and the majority of the profits would remain in Libya. So in anticipation of their Governments Military Actions to Overthrow Gaddaffi to stop his Resource Nationalization, "Non essential" personnel were evacuated February 21, 2011.
US Army Special Forces LTC Woods and his Specialized Security Teams are at Libya since February. It is Routine to attach US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces to the CIA's SAD/SOG to conduct Targeting and Target Damage Assessments to minimize Civilian Casualties during Airstrikes and Cruise Missile Attacks. The US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces Missions are routinely Special Reconnaissance, Special Surveillance, Foreign Internal Defense, Insurgency (training the locals to Overthrow a Established Government), Counter Insurgency (stop others from Overthrowing a US Ally's Established Government), etc..
President Obama as Commander In Chief Orders the US Military to attack Libya in violation of the US Law that Restricts or Limits the Presidential War Powers, US Law, 1973 War Powers Resolution (Act). President Obama failed to notify both Houses of US Congress 48 hours prior to ANY US Military Actions. US Congress does not have time to write a US Law with US Congressional Appropriations, like they did for President Clinton (42) and President Bush (43). President Obama uses not previously Budgeted for Discretionary Spending including to fund NATO's Bombs, Fuel, Cruise Missiles, etc.. Afterwards on behalf of President Obama SOS Clinton apologizes to US Congress, "I'm sorry".
The Results: President Gaddaffi is murdered. Most of the Libyan Citizens that benefited as President Gaddaffi Supporters flee Libya (See Life During President Gaddaffi above). The Islamic Jihadists get another Islamic Nation. Mediterranean Ports closer to attack the US European Allies aka Crusaders. US European Allies lose the Libyan Oil to the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's Ally, the Chinese. 20,000 portable shoulder launched anti aircraft SA-7 missiles end up in the hands of the Islamic Jihadists with their stated goal of shooting down US Civilian Airlines "to cripple the US Economy". Strategic Location for the Islamic Jihadists to get the other African Nations, just like Egypt was key to get Libya.
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group were those Islamic Jihadist Foreign Fighters that were killing US Military at Iraq, they become the Government of Libya.
The Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. at Libya become Ansar Al Shariah to protect and instate Fundamentalist Islamic Shia (Sharia) Laws as the Rule of Law for Libya.
Ansar Al Shariah starts planning their attacks against the US And US Allies, and eliminations of Pro President Gaddaffi Supporters as Collaborators to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers.
Update October 2012: As stated before Libya is Strategic to attack other African Nations, Ansar Al Shariah attacks Mali.
PRESIDENT OBAMA AND VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN FOR POLITICAL GAIN INFLAMED THE 1.5 BILLION ISLAMIC BELIEVERS WORLDWIDE TO VIOLENCE AGAINST THE US WORLDWIDE AS RELAYED TO THE ISLAMIC BELIEVERS AT ALL THE MOSQUES WORLDWIDE.
Biden at DNC (as well as 6 months before): "Bin Laden is dead, General Motors is alive"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKCwQnIygcw
With the Islamic Believer Demonstators and Islamic Jihadists Worldwide chanting:
"OBAMA OBAMA WE ARE ALL OSAMA" DEMO IN TUNISIA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfaKSX3m7Tk
Cairo protesters- Obama we are all Osama
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pJGX1JzyFc
President Obama then blames this on a video that most did not see because many do not have electricity, cell service, nor internet; and were told the video existed by the Imams at the Mosques.
Result DEAD US CITIZENS and the Islamic World's Increased Hatred of the US for the "Murder" (their word) of their "Holy Warrior of Islam" Superstar Osama Bin Laden. This is worse than going to Italy and Murdering the Pope and continually bragging Internationally. Most Pro US and Neutral Islamic Believers Worldwide then join the Holy Warriors of Islam against the US and US Allies. This becomes the Unifying Force for the over 1.5 Billion Islamic Believers Worldwide (Majority being Fundamentalist Islamic Believers).
And it was President Bush that kept GM alive with his: 2008 President Bush's GM and Chrysler Indicative Summary of Terms for Secured Term Loan Facility (Final Terms and Appendix).

US Army Special Forces LTC Wood and his US Army Special Forces Specialized Support Teams writes up a Security Assessment for the US Embassy at Tripoli, and the US Consulate at Benghazi, as well as an "On the Ground" INSUM for Libya. This Security Assessment would have gone thru multiple channels, the President's Own Executive Intelligence Agency, the CIA, cc President Obama; SOS Clinton and the US Department of State, cc President Obama; Secretary of Defense and Pentagon, cc, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, cc President Obama; Redacted, cc President Obama; Commander US AFRICOM, cc Commander US SETAF, cc Commander US EUCOM, cc President Obama.
US Ambassador Stevens is a Presidential Appointee, with Direct Access to President Obama.
US Ambassador Stevens states his concerns, and requests that US Army Special Forces LTC Wood and his US Army Special Forces Specialized Support Teams remain at Libya, and or addtional US Security Forces (not Libyan). Before any of you start saying what could the few of US Army Special Forces LTC Wood and his US Army Special Forces Specialized Support Teams could have done, go learn about the previous Historically Documented DA (Direct Action) Missions of the US Army Special Forces.
I got to see the entire Video that is more than likely going to be posted in the future as an Islamic Jihadist Training Video, that starts with Ansar Al Sharia driving up with pick up trucks with heavy machineguns, and mortars mounted to the pickup truck beds and ending with the guy in the white shirt being interviewed with looters in the background. There are also the limited video surveillance cameras of the US Consulate Benghazi, the video recovery being one of the primary missions of US AFRICOM as coordinated thru US SETAF. Just because you don't have access, just like the mission cams, video conferences for the SR Mission that turned into a DA Mission (Raid) at Pakistan in accordance with President Bush's 2006 Amending the US No Assassination Policy and previously Presidential Delegated Authority Planned Mission; go right ahead, you can wait about 20 years and obtain the information about 20 years from now thru the FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act). If you want to see the start to finish Islamic Jihadist videos attack on the US Consulate, learn to use the almost illegal means to circumvent the US Monitoring and Censorship that blocks the videos from the US based on IP Addresses, this training (how to) video is like the Islamic Jihadist's Training Video for their attacks against USMC Leatherneck (British Camp Baston) at Afghanistan

WHY DIDN'T PRESIDENT OBAMA REINSTATE THOSE US LAWS THAT MADE ILLEGAL THE CAUSES OF PREVIOUS DEPRESSIONS. That Resulted in the current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion Global Economic Crisis consisting of the Mortgage Crisis, Wall Street Crisis, Financial Crisis, Banking Crisis, Credit Crisis, etc.. That he blames on President Bush as "inherited" when Bush did not eliminate those US Laws.
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA SPEND $2.1 TRILLION THAT WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY BUDGETED FOR, REQUIRING THE CURRENT CUTS TO PREVIOUSLY BUDGET PROGRAMS, PROJECTS, AGENCIES, INCLUDING THE ENTITLEMENTS, BENEFITS FOR THE "47%" THAT NEED THESE BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS. PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PRESIDENT'S PROPOSAL TO US CONGRESS DEMANDING CUTS.
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA AND SECRETARY OF DEFENSE LEON PENETTA, 2012, STATE, "A 10% Defense Budget Cut will result in a Million (US) Civilians becoming Unemployed". Yet President Obama in his President's Proposal to US Congress demand a Defense Budget Cut of 11%.
WHAT US LAW DID PRESIDENT OBAMA VIOLATE THAT IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO THE US PRESIDENT. AN IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE. As an admittance of Guilt SOS Clinton on Behalf of President Obama appologized to US Congress, "I'm sorry".
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA DEMAND THE OVERTHROW OF A FORMER US ALLY AND SUPPORTED THE FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC JIHADISTS TO OVERTHROW THE FORMER US ALLY. Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. that became Ansar Al Sharia to protect and instate Fundamentalist Islamic Shia (Sharia) Law as the Rule of Law for Libya. Now Ansar Al Sharia is attacking the rest of Africa, like Mali, as Egypt was Strategic to attack Libya, Libya is Strategic to attack the rest of Africa.
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group was killing US Military at Iraq. The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group due to President Obama is the current Government of Libya.
WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT WITHDRAWING FROM IRAQ. WHEN IN FACT THE FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC SHIA REPUBLIC OF IRAN HAD THE US KICKED OUT OF THE ISLAMIC SHIA NATION OF IRAQ. Result now the Chinese and Russian Federation Allies of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran got the Iraqis Oil that could have paid for the US And US Allies Liberation of Iraq with Decades to Centuries of Iraqis Oil. This made Libya's Oil of Strategic Importance to the US Europrean Allies.
WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT THE US MILITARY WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ. Numbers of Actual US Military still at Iraq.
WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT THE US INVOLVEMENT AT SYRIA.
WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA TAKING CREDIT FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS PREPLANNED LONG AGO AFTER PRESIDENT BUSH AMMENDED THE US NO ASSASSINATION POLICY, 2006, TO ALLOW THE TERMINATION OF OSAMA BIN LADEN. With the Mission to Locate and Capture Osama Bin Laden already put into motion since 2006. And failing Capture to gain all of Osama Bin Laden's planning and thought processes as imprinted on his Al Quada, to preemptively interdict all Al Quada International Francishes activities Worldwide. Failing Capture of this "High Valued Target" as the Last Resort the Termination of Osama Bin Laden, as a Mission Failure. President Obama just happened to be in Office while the CIA, Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations Command was doing the above since 2006.
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA IN HIS 2012 STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS BACKPEDDAL ON HIS APRIL 2009 ORDERED DEFENSE BUDGET CUT OF THE USN (One Aircraft Carrier Strike Group). And why did he tell the US Public a Half Truth (actually a lie) that the USN Enterprise Aircraft Carrier will be decommissioned and scrapped after the current mission, long before the replacement CVN-80 is ready to replace CVN-65, if sea trials are successful 2015. So still elimination from 11 to 10.
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA BACKPEDAL ON HIS OPPOSITION TO THE PRESIDENT BUSH US ABM MISSILES AT EASTERN EUROPE AGAINST THE IRANIAN MISSILE THREAT. President Obama stated there was no Iranian Missile Threat. December 2011 President Obama as Commander In Chief Ordered the deployment of US Military ABM Missile Batteries to Romania.
WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA ELIMINATING US CITIZENS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

WHY WAS PRESIDENT OBAMA NEVER CONVICTED FOR VIOLATING THE US LAW, McCain Feingold Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, prior to and during the 2008-2009 Elections. And his Buddy, "Mr. Corporate America" admitted that President Obama did while getting the US Supreme Court to Rule in Favor of the Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions before the Citizens United case made it's way thru the US Courts; so that President Obama could get his Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions from the Insurance Corporations, Medical Device Corporations, and Pharmaceuticals Corporations.
WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA CHOP THE PAYMENTS TO CAREGIVERS TO SENIOR CITIZENS UNDER MEDICARE, AND DECREASE MEDICARE PAYMENTS TO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. Instead of what he stated was the REAL Problem with Medicare, during his Face the Nation Interview, that the Insurance Corporations that manage Medicare are overcharging US Taxpayers by 14% to make Profits of $17 Billion to $18 Billion per year.
WHY DOES PRESIDENT OBAMA KEEP BLAMING "OBSTRUCTIONIST" CONGRESS, WHEN IN FACT HE KEEPS ON CIRCUMVENTING US CONGRESS "The Will of the People", keep clicking "Next", see anything Unconstitutional, TOUGH, that is what YOU previously Voted For:

The strong bounceback from the Great Depression had a number of factors with it, including the immensity of the New Deal (in both size and scope). And as for the Reagan recovery, Reagan didn't have to deal with a financial crisis. His recession was an easy one induced by the Fed to cut inflation, and all he had to do was increase spending and let the Feds to all the work.
No, we're not joking. I'd rather be ascending slowly than dropping rapidly. And do you really think Romney could do better??? The guy thinks that all he has to do is win the election, repeal some laws and regulations, and cut taxes for the rich in order to make all of our problems go away.
I have one question to those who support Romney for president: Why the hell do you think cutting taxes for the rich and deregulating the economy will fix the economy??? Why??? That whole piece of bull@!$%# was initiated by that idiot Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, and at least he was smart enough to realize his mistake; then again, that was AFTER he tripled the national debt. Deregulation and tax cuts SCREWED this country after the disastrous Bush years; why the hell should we try that experiment again??? Romney does not know how to fix the economy; the guy only knows how to help the rich. Why millions of Americans are willing to trust him even though his policies are directly from the Bush playbook is beyond my understanding; any poor or middle class person voting Republican is voting against their best interests.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012

Jesus you and Navy are pathetic.
This is the "best" you can do? lmao
Good morning to you too Gober!
Hung over again...eh?
So Feisty, you gonna give ReHab another try next week?
You failed so miserably the first time.
I keep telling you 1 week isn't enough. Commit to the full 28 day program and maybe you can finally beat back those demons.
Admitting you have a problem is the First Step.
BTW , pretty sure ANY comment is better than trying to hold a spot with punctuation. Simply pathetic.

Do you believe in the Christian God, WCA? I know a bit about the Bible, and I don't think that God would take kindly to your telling Him that his son is pathetic. OR, is this a case of your putting your grammar skills on display and you screwed up on punctuation? Of course, that would mean you took the name of the Lord, thy God in vain.
Dude. Watch out for lightning bolts.
Sorry little buddy, not only do I know it, every regular on this board knows it... EPIC FAIL!

This isn't about a punctuation error, or is your God so dumb you're fooling him by pretending this was about a punctuation error?
Come on sissie. No diversion, no deflection. Is He a dumb God, or is He waiting for an apology from you?

I agree. Crazy economic strategy of tea party to focus on deficit reduction in time of high unemployment defies the principles of macroeconomics. Simple household solution of cutting spending when applied to economy as a whole will only result in increased unemployment, higher costs associated with supporting unemployed or higher bad debt to businesses that unemployed owe money, and lower tax revenues. Tea Party policies would have sent our economy back into recession.
Fire the tea party like our economy's healthy growth depends on it, which it does.

Obama/Biden 2012
Obama is good status quo - boom time is already here - economic data out today is good if you read between the lines and have common sense;
Mitt is bad change that we can't afford.
U6 unemployment is 14.6%. How great is that?

Talk to the Hand, several days ago, David spent virtually half a post and day using the same precious campaign time attacking my use of spell check, grammer and of all things paragraphs. WCA is right most of us dont go back and edit our posts on an anonymous blog. I guess there is a new Obama campaign strategy coming from their master Jen that says, since we have no ability to respond substantively to their posts outlining the failed economic record of Obama, we must attack their spelling and grammer. Over the last two days, I have challenged any of the Obama supporters to provide evidence as to why Obama's economic polices have failed those he professes to protect--the poor, middle class, women and minorities with zero response. I have provided the economic arguments as to why their economic defense of Chyrsler starting jeep production in China is inconsistent wtih the Obama attacks on Bain and Obama's tax proposal on foreign earnings with zero response. So I guess that David has decided that because he cant win intellectually or substantively, he thinks he can change votes to Obama by pointing out how they are such poor editors of their anonymous posts. Of course there is always the praise for his fellow colleagues personal attacks like Jen and Jack who also refuse to provide any critical thinking replies. Its a new campaign strategy and I am sure its very effective. How many minds do you think you have changed David?
White Collar Auto,
Good one! By her response, I guess the answer is no. So, there's no hope. All she does is collect government checks, talk on her Obamaphone, and try to get that clown, Obama and his sidekick, Biden, re-elected. Really sad.

Buh Bye Deano!

Um, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and speculate that the commandment you guys/gals are talking about has nothing to do with using any particualar words in a "cussing" fashion. I believe that is a popular misconception; I think that what the commandment is meant to tell us is that it is terribly wrong to pretend to be a prophet (pretend to know what God is thinking).
thanks newday.
How many jobs does it take to keep up with population growth? At 1.9 million jobs per year how long will it take to put the number of unemployed we presently have back to work? If you believe we should be satisfied with these results and the outlook that is staring us in the face then you should be cheering.
Any time.
We aren't out of the ditch, just deeper in it. The improvements claimed by the Dems are phantom for this reason. The Fed has been propping this entire economy up via the deliberate devaluing of our currency. We are in a currency war with China and it isn't going to be pretty when the bill comes due.
The liberal dream of ACA for this country will not benefit anyone but hurt everyone, by costing far more than they originally said, the increased taxes and double the cost if it had not been passed. Who cares if a child gets an additional 5 years on mommy and daddy's insurance if it costs double what it did before! I know my insurance premiums nearly doubled due to the ACA and my deductibles tripled. This is good? How can anyone say triple the deductible after ACA is good?
The destructive policies of the lemming left will not work for us, they rarely have.
I thought the article was good until I read the fanaticism here. You people are scary with your cult like responses. I hope that you only act like this here. No wonder everyone is lock and loading now days. Wow glad this is just a tiny segment of extremist that think like you all do.
I read the delusional rantings here because it is like watching a train wreck I just can't look away. We are going to survive no matter which buffoon gets elected. The premise of the article is correct but not for the reason the author thinks, every election is about the status quo because every 2 years the status quo trots out the usual suspects and we choose one. Sadly there is really no choice at all but we choose anyway. 4 years ago we were promised change and we got it, usually a recovery moves along at a much more dynamic pace but this one is anemic so it is a change from the usual scenario. But in reality what changed, did a new group of legislators write the bills, were lobbyists thrown out of the back rooms where the deals were cut, did the winners reach out to the other side in a spirit of bipartisan bliss? Did the skies open up and trumpets proclaim a new day? Nope business as usual prevailed and do you know what? It will go on after this election as well, so good luck you partisan nincompoops.
Burning,
Sadly, yes, it's like that all the time here. And it exists on both sides...but obviously since this network has the liberal slant to it, you see more extremists from the left than perhaps from the right. I too hope that it's just a very small segment of the total population, because if it's like this out on the street, we are really truly screwed!!

The Long Haul
From the article above:
Quite a tragic and exhausting week this has been for millions of Americans. The aftermath and assessment of the damage Sandy has caused is finally sinking in.
And this is just the beginning.
The initial thrust of help from firefighters, police, National Guard and Red Cross has begun and passed. Rescuing people from crumbled debris, pulling people out of hazardous water conditions, helping people down darkened stairwells and buildings, and comforting the anguished and despaired has occurred as best as it can.
Phase two has begun.
This is where the mobilization of supplies from the Red Cross and other organizations begins to filter into the needed communities. This is where the hundreds of electricians deal with the thousands of power outages. This is where the hundreds of construction workers clear the hundreds of miles of debris. This is where families and businesses struggle to just survive.
It’s the psychological adjustment phase; the most heart wrenching and difficult phase, and can also seem like the most hopeless phase. But this will pass at some point, then the re-construction phase will begin.
We should all be reminded that what happen on the East Coast can happen to any of us anywhere and we Americans need to be there to help our fellow citizens however we can.
Somehow, someway, God willing, we will get through this tragedy, because we are Americans, and we are in it for the Long Haul.

Thaomas Grande - I remember sitting up for 7 days watching the Katrina coverage - not knowing if my brother, who lives outside New Orleans - was alive or dead. The horror of the destruction is something I will never forget. And, I hoped we wouldn't see that kind of devastation again.
But, we're at the same place with New Jersey and New York - but mostly New Jersey. To see a complete area wiped out is almost beyond comprehension. I can't imagine being in the thick of it. I can't imagine waking up each and every day to realize - yet again - that this is not just some bad dream.
This is when Americans show their best and we have to make sure we do that - for the people who have lost so much. Most of us can afford to give some to help those who have nothing. Over the next many months those on the East Coast will be finding ways to get their lives back to normal and we need to help in any way we can.
You're right - this is a LONG process and we have to make sure we don't forget those who have been so devastated.
Seeking Sanity-
Thanks for your great post. Hope your brother is ok.
I have many friends and family in New Jersey and New York so this has been a difficult week watching all the suffering going on.
In my opinion, the election is on auto-pilot now.
As Tom Brokaw said, Americans are tired of this election process and just want it to be over.
I have the utmost confidence at this point, that President Obama is going to win with 332 Electoral Votes, and yes, that includes Ohio and Florida.
Enjoy the weekend, say a prayer, visit the Red Cross Web site, and count your blessings.

In looking back to President Reagan's first term his jobs numbers were a only a little better than President Obama's first term. For Reagan he had very high numbers during his second and third years.
During the second Obama 4 year term, the numbers will get better.
BETTER THAN EXPECTED?...YOU LIBTARDS ARE ALL ON SMACK!...WAIT TIL NEXT MONTH WHEN THE NUMBERS ARE CUT IN HALF JUST LIKE SEPTEMBER!
September Jobs Numbers Revised Almost In Half
I'll bet President Obama wishes this news didn't come out for another week. ADP has revised September's jobs numbers down to almost half of what was previously reported.
Are you kidding they are to intelligent and you are not. You are beneath them because they are all knowing. Even though they have to lie, cheat and steal to keep going forward. They would not dare mooch off of the general population and they would never use People for their self gain. They are the party of the People and they never skew job reports and would never take advantage of their base that is so bright and of course do not get easily manipulated by the media. What are you thinking Dean?
I thought the Republican mantra is "government cannot create jobs?" I thought the Republican mantra was " tax cuts for the 1% grow jobs." Romney only paid 14% of his $20 million dollar investment income in taxes. Why hasn't he created more jobs? What is the problem with the "job creators" in this country, the ones who enjoy the lowest rates since the 1950's?
I think its hilarious how Republicans heap all the blame for slow growth onto President Obama, who, as far as I can see, is one of the few people among the 1% who actually excells at his job.
Amy: Government CAN slow job growth by putting laws in place that cause uncertainty. ACA! Job killer.
That man Willard Romney lies so much, it's hard to imagine anyone voting for him and dismissing all of his repeated lies on every position. It sure bothers me and millions others, that this man a talking lying buffoon, is fooling so many.
Oh, the economy hasn't bounded back because of the Affordable Health Care Act? But, I thought most companies with over 50 employees already offer health insurance? So why would the requirement they participate in a plan prevent them from hiring, since they already do? Please explain.
Small business is this nation's engine ( $0-10,000,000 annual sales). These business have and average of 47.6 employees (BLS). The nation's job engine is now under attack by, well indented, but stupid liberals.
Amusingly, the big news today is the GOPTP buried a report that that runs counter to that mantra. So now we have not only Lyin' Ryan and Fibbin' Mittens, the entire GOPTP party is engaged in a massive cover-up to hide the truth that tax cuts for wealthy do one thing, and one thing only; create income inequality.
Of course what we will hear from the GOPTP over the next few days on this massive cover-up is that the report cannot be believed - it was after all, based upon facts and figures, something beyond their comprehension.
Dont Tase Me-
The only 'uncertainty' about the ACA is Mitt Romney's position on it. It's Friday, so is that 'Repeal it All Day' or 'Keep the Parts That Work Day'?
Last year Romney said the individual mandate was a 'good thing, it works'; this year it's a 'job-killing tax on the Middle Class'.
I get confused, how do you Romney supporters keep track so you know which side of the position to argue? Doesn't it get tiring?
Amy, think about this. Large employers in the service industry such as Darden(red lobster, Olive Garden, etc.) is moving to a work schedule of .29 hours per week which will allow them to not provide health care. So these people will loose not only wages but their healthcare as well.
lulu98, slaves should be happy we pay them with scraps right?
Not sure what your point is. There are consequences to these people and for many more who will be for Ed down to fewer hours. But that will NOT affect the unemployment number that everyone quotes. That is why looking at the U5 and U6 numbers.
TNSEVOL ...
Too funny. One thing that I've discussed with many a Utahn about the ACA that they have conveniently forgotten to voice to their candidate is that all of the young men and women that the mormon church sends out to the missionary fields are covered under their parent's plans. This has had a huge effect in this area but because the President pushed for it, they refuse to state that they are actually saving monies and worries. I wish people would actually look at the benefits they are receiving from the ACA. I know quite a few friends who are anxiously awaiting the pre-exisiting condition clause that kicks in in 2014. They are looking forward to coverage for their children that have been denied.
Why so much hate and opposition to something that truly is for the benefit of the people? Oh, I know, because President Obama pushed for it.
Pathetic.
Obama/Biden 2012
That's right Dan, employees should be without healthcare so the right-wing porkers can order their Lobster Salad and pay $1.99 rather than $2.29 and that generous .09 tip.
Yo Layton .. I typed a post the other day and used 'gotten' - both Utah-isms. Too funny!!
amy said: "Oh, the economy hasn't bounded back because of the Affordable Health Care Act? But, I thought most companies with over 50 employees already offer health insurance? So why would the requirement they participate in a plan prevent them from hiring, since they already do? Please explain."
my company just sent out the open enrollment package for next year. in the line leading up to more cost to be incurred by the employee was this line:
"The government reform mandates are adding to the costs, not lowering them"
Every employee added to my company comes with typical burden costs. in the case of health insurance my company pays a portion of the costs for a family ranging from $10,700 to $16,100 per year based on the selected plan.
so there is a cost to add people. with all of the uncertainty that continues to come from washington -- temporary popular giveaways like the reduction in ss only cause my company to hold back to wait and see if we will get some longer-term solutions.
this is a problem for both parties -- it is not a partisan problem.
lulu98,
My point is that instead of rightfully attacking the business for being greedy it seems as though you are attacking people for asking for a better wage and better benefits. Do you think that people who work at Olive Garden are satisfied with more hours vs no health insurance?
Either way maybe at 29 hours a week those employees will seek a better employer who actually values their employees.
RedDev ... I know! But I do want you to know that I proudly prounounce LayTon correctly and that I live near the mounTains! (you know what I'm sayin'!)
Too funny!
Pukes,
Romney is a loser and there is nothing that you or he can do or say to change that.
BigDogg over and out!
Any company that doesn't offer heath insurance isn't worth working for.
Layton -- That "pre-existing" clause has already partially kicked in. I know because we used it to get insurance for my wife at about $300/month (which we can barely afford) instead of $1,400/month (which we could never afford). It took months of gut-wrenching anxiety, but she was finally approved.
By the way, the doctor who performed the operation she needed was absolutely giddy with the opportunity. My wife was the first patient he had been able to treat with that insurance plan and he was hoping someday the law would be fully implemented and everyone would be able to afford insurance. It was comforting to be served by a doctor that thought is was an honor to be able to treat my wife.
It's been two months now since the operation, and not only is my wife doing well, she's better than ever.
God bless America.
God bless President Obama.
Obama-Biden 2012!

COinFL ...
Awesome news! Thanks for sharing and so happy to hear about your wife!
God Bless America is right and thank you President Obama!
Many here are talking up ACA but it hasn't been so good for me.
Nearly double the premium and triple the deductible has made it so I refuse to go to the doctors any more, they are too expensive and the deductible is too high, making it basically full out of pocket for whatever I do, and, I STILL pay a premium, for zero benefit.
Someone who doesn't have liberal rose colored glasses on tell me how double my premium and triple my deductible after ACA makes my health insurance MORE affordable?
It is more like UNaffordable Care Act, UCA.
Thanks liberals for all the help....but the ACA isn't any help at all, now factor in the increased taxes to implement it, and we have the final insult from liberals. Call something affordable, but make it less affordable and make me pay more taxes to boot, affordable my ass.
Dan, you really are a jerk. I was not attacking anyone, just citing a problem that was NOT dealt with in AHCA. If the bill had not been so stupidly long and tangled up, real progress with accessing health care might have been possible. In my own case, the company for whom my husband works has forced everyone into a high deductible plan citing ACHA as the cost factor. The also put a surcharge on couples where the spouse is possibly covered elsewhere. This is a company with over 100k employees. You really need to educate yourself on how the consequences of action create other problems.
The plan hasn't been fully instituted yet. Wait and it will be affordable. I totally understand how you feel. My employer had an insurance policy for his employees. My premium as a single person was $66/month. The problem was it only paid for 20% of a hospital visit. So,m like you, I had to pay up front the full charge for the doctor plus the $66/month. Like you I dropped the insurance. I learned from this experience. Did you know that most people on insurance pay less than those that do not have insurance. Insurance companies have set fees that they will pay so doctors increase their fees so that they get paid what they are worth from insurance companies and it's the people who don't hav insurance that suffer for it. Medical personnel are as fed up with the insurance industry as you and I are. Barack Obama is trying to change the system and when it is fully implemented will truly be affordable care.
Of course they are. I wouldn't expect anything different. Insurance Corporation are big money as are the corporations buying the insurance. Insurance companies are out for themselves. They do not insure you for conditions they deem as per-existing. They drop you if you have too many claims. They tell the doctors how to treat you and dictate their fees. Right now, your medicare care is up to the insurance company. It up to you if you do not have insurance, but then we are faced with prohibitive cost. Our Healthcare system needed a complete overhaul. The government could take it over completely and close down the health insurance industry, or left on the supplemental industry, but it didn't. The insurance industry is still a viable industry. It just can't not insure you and has to make insurance available to everyone and have affordable rates by 2014. This is not only a boom for the people, but is for the insurance industry as well. We will have affordable healthcare supplied by the insurance companies by 2014 and it will turn out to be a blessing. The government is not going to run it. The only thing is, there will be a tax on those that don't have insurance. This tax can be compared to the payroll tax we pay for medicare. This tax dollar will be paying for the medical care of the uninsured patient; not taxpayer dollars.
There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."

Well I guess at this point an undecided voter is about as scarce as hen’s teeth. If folks haven’t made up their mind by now I would question whether they had a mind to make up.
I must admit that watching Ol’ Willard and Lil’ Paulie go through all kinds of contortions and convolutions to try and sell them old retread plans and policies has been a lot of fun. No matter how hard they try they just ain’t very good at it. Truth be told some of the Yahoo’ posters that we have here on F.R. are better than the Bobbsey Twins. Don’t blame yourselves you did the best you could with what few tools you had to work with. I just wish that you’ll had listened to Ol’ Governor Good Hair way back when when he tried to tell you that a Vulture didn’t make a good Political Candidate.
Nope looks like President Obama and Curly Joe Biden are going to win them a second term barring some unthinkable catastrophe. And that’s a good thing for We the People. And I appreciate that the folks over here at F.R. have allowed me to share my search for Common Sense and Fundamental Truth with you’ll folks. I hope it has been of some small assistance to some of you’ll and of no small annoyance to my detractors.
Some of us can read and research and come up with a rational way forward. Some of us can observe what’s going on and reach a conclusion based what we see. The 47% of you’ll with Obama Derangement Syndrome are just going to have to pee on the fence and see what happens.
Great Pearls of Wisdom IR. It has been a long journey through this election cycle and now the light is shining bright at the end of the tunnel. The train of hope is chugging right along bringing with it to day's good jobs report, the housing market is picking up more and stronger steam to help pull the economy train down the right tracks.
Reading the analysis of Michael Thompson below, I am feeling pretty good.
Everybody who wants on the train to a brighter and better future, who believes in an America where everyone deserves a chance: Go vote for Barack Obama 'n Joe Biden.
IR, nothing like some Will Rogers pearls of wisdom to bring a smile; well said. Judging from the conservative comments here and on TV, they've been standing too close to the electric fence!
I ♥ it Floyd!!!
*clutching my pearls of your wisdom* ;o)
Pearls for all the Irrepressible Ladies of First Read. Not Cultured either the Real thing 'cause you'll are.
Never heard that saying, IR, but I like it. I am so glad to have shared this journey with you and all our liberal friends.
GBM----you are so right---a vote for President Obama is getting on the train to a brighter future and that is what I want for myself, my family and our country. All aboard!!!!!!
Judging by your so called research it seems to me you got you some edumication. But we lowly pond scum here in realsville have no clue what is happening. Although some of us conservative Cowboys have to get up and work for a livin unlike People like yourself that are like a parasite on a cow's anus. We of course do not have the edumication of a liberal like yourself. We don't send our kids to college we just put them on the farm in hope of supplyin the liberals of this world with their needs. Yep you got us we pee on the electric fence and strangely after I did I had a vision a vision that this Country is failing and failing miserably with the agenda and the ideology of this socialist President and that is why I voted early and I did not vote for Obama.
INDEPENDANT.
Loved your post. Know lots of fence people. They get the message in 4 days.
OBAMA IN 4 MORE DAYS.
Just so's you got your facts straight there Lanche I have got up a o'dark thirty for nigh on to forty years so 180 folks have a place to work. And I wouldn't call them Pond Scum I would call them Partners for trying to build something for them and thier progeny. If that's socialism then I would appreciate more of it.
Hi IR,
Good one!
To add to GBM's train to a brighter future, I'll repeat a food for thought from my weekly wrap earlier this year.
"If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction." Dietrich Bonhoeffer, 1906-1945. According to Politifact, Mitt Romney only tells the truth 29% of the time which means he lies 71% of time. Before you vote, make sure you pick the right train. The one you're on might have been a bumpy ride but the other shiny, new one that is on-time only 29% of the time, isn't likely to get you where you want to go.
Lanche, another GOPTPer electric fence talking point which Reagan first voiced. Just so you know, this liberal got up at "dark'o 30" to head to work for 47 years before retiring 4 years ago and that doesn't count the part-time jobs while in school.
IR-
Thank you for today's and everyday's post. You have been a champion throughout this election season and I have enjoyed reading your insightful columns.
Salud
Thanks Tomas as I have enjoyed your daily contributions too. Stick around the fun is just starting.
Okay, IR -- that made me laugh. However (you knew there would be a "however" right?), I once saw a Mythbusters show which "disproved" the whole peeing on an electric fence thing. It seems that the pee "stream" is not unbroken as it appears to be, and thus there is no way for the electricity to make its' way back to the um, body. You would have to be extremely close to the wire, and somewhat unlucky, to be shocked. Never-the-less, the producers of the show used a fake "bladder", and even when the high speed video showed why there was no electrical connection being made, the stars of the show were not brave enough to try it for real. I don't blame them. I've been shocked a number of times, and it's the king of thing that can give you nightmares.
Hey people, sorry if I'm not feeling like playing the political argument thing today. I'm kind of "politicked" out. I'll be voting for sure, but that's about all I have left in me.
I think I might try to google a English-Spanish dictionary to find out what "Salud" means.
Good day everybody. Try not to get caught up in hate -- it'll hurt you more than the other guy.
Just because one has decided how to vote doesn't make him educated. The uneducated can use any number of reasons to vote the way they do. Some radio talk show hate monger could be spewing his/her propaganda and the truly uneducated could believe every word of it. The supermarket rags could publish all sorts of stupid stuff and there will be those who believe it.
CO Actually back in Ol' Will's day they used a little more current than they do today and didn't have a rig to pulse it so it may have worked a little different. Not being (Quite) old enough to be a contemporary of Will's and possessing about as much courage as the "Myth buster's" crew I'm inclined to take his word for it. However if you'll come on back after the election when things settle down somewhat I'll tell you a story about getting caught up under an electric fence after a day of canoeing with a pair of Wet Gloves in my back pocket. Had to buy Old Farmer Brown a 100 ft. of fence
@Independent Redneck Va.#5.16: Don't know how it is today, but back in the 50's in Georgia, It sure fixed you. I gained first pecker knowledge in 58 peeing through some brush with an electric strand on the other side of it.
You're a good 'un IR. Always enjoy the houn outta you. Best regards
The Princeton Election Consortium now the EC vote count as of 8 a.m.at …

We are in White Noise season and my fix will be to turn off the tv and toss the newspaper immediately into the recycle bin. My turntable is all warmed up and my opera collection is neatly stacked alongside, and there is just enough Scotch to get me all the way to nap time.
Hang in there Staten Island, the good people of Eastern Canada are sending their electricians to help out,
Ya’ll have a great day of low blows and choke holds but be nice about it, I’ll be watching.
So with the Prenceton Election Consortium being "dead on", most Dem's can stay home on Election Day..

just kidding Dems, don't get your panties in an uproar!! VOTE AMERICA!! This election is CRUCIAL!!
I am sure that there will be at least one polling firm publishing their numbers after the 6th and they will still be dead wrong.
So far, I have voted three times today ... I'll try to keep track for you Sirie.
Today's battleground analysis based on data compiled from the aggregator sites. Remember, my analysis is not based on the average of leads a given candidate has in the polls, but on a trendline based on the number of polls that have a candidate in the lead versus the number of polls the other candidate is in the lead. If a candidate has a lead in every poll in the state or the opposing candidate does not have a lead in any poll in the state, the state will be listed as All (candidate).

Analysis: The race is sort of now boiling down to a case of Rasmussen Reports versus all other polling agencies in the battlegrounds. In yesterdays battleground polls, Rasmussen found leads for Romney of +3 and +1 and a tie. All other agencies found leads for Obama in every battleground race. This is, however, with the caveat that yesterday's battleground polling was lighter than usual. All in all, however, no movement is not a good day for Governor Romney because the basic structure of the race with no movement now heavily favors the president with only 4 days to go.
Normally I pay little attention to national polling because the popular vote, in general does not matter. However, I will pay a bit of attention to it today simply because it provides a second level of support for the ongoing analysis of the recent movement away from Romney in the battleground states.
Look at the most recent polling period of 10/25-11/2 in the national polling:
Rasmussen Reports 10/29 - 10/31 1500 LV 3.0 47 49 Romney +2
ABC News/Wash Post 10/28 - 10/31 1293 LV 3.0 49 48 Obama +1
FOX News 10/28 - 10/30 1128 LV 3.0 46 46 Tie
CBS News/NY Times 10/25 - 10/28 563 LV 4.0 48 47 Obama +1
National Journal 10/25 - 10/28 713 LV 4.4 50 45 Obama +5
Pew Research 10/24 - 10/28 1495 LV 2.9 47 47 Tie
Gallup 10/22 - 10/28 2700 LV 2.0 46 51 Romney +5
NPR 10/23 - 10/25 1000 LV 3.1 47 48 Romney +1
IBD/TIPP 10/22 - 10/27 930 LV 3.5 45 44 Obama +1
Politico/GWU/Battleground 10/22 - 10/25 1000 LV 3.1 49 48 Obama +1
As you can see there is a now a weak advantage of 5:3:2 in these polls for the president whereas during the prior polling period of 10/16-10/24, the national polls held an extremely strong 9:2:1 advantage for Romney. Normally, I would say that little could be made of this type of movement, but in this case, a lot of these polls are tracking polls, which means that in general, these polls are being conducted by the same organization from period to period, which means theoretically the polls are using the same methods from poll to poll. In those cases, I am more likely to believe mild swings from one side to the other.
The only outlier is Gallup, which has been unable to run its daily tracking poll for most of the week now, so we are not exactly sure whether the poll that was giving Romney his largest national lead remains the same without an update.
All in all, however, the story today remains the structure of the race and the fact that Romney spent most of his day yesterday campaigning in a state that I've already placed in his column, indicating that he does not feel he has locked it down. The more time he spends in Virginia, the less time he has to move the needle in any of the All O states. He also is spending time in Pennsylvania. This is almost an admission that he feels Ohio is unwinnable for him and that he needs to pull another large state from somewhere.
Good morning Michael,
Great research on your part.
Great work Michael, and I like your analysis in the last paragraph.
Well done, Michael. As Gingerbread Mamma said, your last paragraph says a great deal about the Romney campaign.
Actually, Michael, I think Romney would do best to stay OUT of states he wants to win, as, the more people actually see Romney, in person, the more they realize they don't like him.
Romney has run the most negative campaign I have ever see. All he does is attack a man who represents a uniquely American success story. How is that good for our country? Romney has run a belligerent, aggressive and contempuous campaign for months and months, then, when someone criticizes HIM, he folds like a pup tent in a rain storm. Not impressive.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Michael. Lots of pearls of wisdom here today!
I can't imagine what Romney thinks he will accomplish here in Pennsylvania but I can tell you Obama yard signs outnumber Romney ones around here and the Obama GOTV operation is in full force. I get daily emails (or more) from them and they have mapped out the operation down to the hour. As James Carville said, Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh in the west, Philadelphia in the east and Alabama in the middle. So Romney won't carry the two metro areas and why go to where his support exists? Makes no sense to me.
Amy , you must mean Obama has run a disgusting campaign. He does NOT resemble any President I recall with his name calling, etc. he should be embarrassed.
Great post, Michael. Actually, I've been enjoying your posts all week! Keep it up and full steam ahead to another four years!
Obama/Biden 2012
Michael Thompson,
you'd better update your copy/paste stats... rasmussen has it at a tie today. Most of the rest have it as an edge for President Obama:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
Michael,
Romney needs to pull 3 states out of his azz.
BigDogg over and out!
It would seem to make little difference if President Obama wins a second term...we all lose. I say this because unless there is a large change in the Congress he has proven his lack of ability to reach across the aisle in all situations in the last four years. He is the cause of division not unity. This is a clear indication of his lack of leadership ability. So nothing changes and we have to slog through four more years of inept leadership in the Congress and Presidency. Great message given to all of you by NBC...did you even bother to read the article you are commenting on?

Cute how many scramble to be first by simply typing a single character and composing or pasting their opus afterwards.
Lunch with my acquaintance the political fundraiser today.
The storm nay have been a game changer. Enabling the incumbent to go positive in his final push advertising, and look both Commander in Chief-y and above politics, as he tours the damage arm in arm with a major critic.
You can't BUY that kind of imagery...
Of course it is O-H-I-O all the live long day....
Almost a hundred dead in the aftermath of the storm, we mourn our loss.
Subways are back, bread on the shelves, but several doctor friends are still couch-surfing due to power outages all across lower Manhattan.
Luckily for me, "21" has it's lights on...
Now let's have a clean fight!
What's even cuter is someone who swears up and down to have those on "ignore"!
Even better when it relegates you further towards the bottom on the page where you belong! ;op
My copy gun is always loaded with a hollow point paste ... oh darn I just dissed myself.
BCWC-
Alas, I know not of what you speak, as I can only read those who are not on ignore.
A local bar "the Parlour" on west 86th street, had the look of a refugee camp as folks waited to charge up their phones, etc last night. Many folks were drifting uptown as power is still spotty below 14th street.
My friend raises funds for political candidates in the Tri-State area, and his work is pretty much done, so I hope to gain insight, or at least a couple of good anecdotes when we meet this afternoon.

Again, none of you knows squat about who will win what, but don't let that stop any of the premature end zone dances...
I tell you what Betty I'm giving Ol' Danger a pass today. He has his points both good and bad but his "Johnny One Note" yesterday sems to have put a damper on our "Bengazi Buddies' this morning and I think that is a good thing 'cause I was getting a litle tired of it
Dangerfield,
I laugh at a number things. First on the list is myself, followed by feathers.
“I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.”
If I'm still here next week, I'm really going to miss the endless Cut n Pastes of all the polls that are out there.
Wonder what all those folks do after next week?
WCA
Sharpen their swords for the 2014 midterms is my guess. Both sides and not just the sword.
My .02 is there's a difference between dancing in the end zone prematurely and feeling optimistic about a win. I see nothing wrong with liberals expressing optimism since good news gives us reason to be optimism but I certainly see the pessimism coming from the conservatives since good news tends to not fit their desired narrative, let alone give them the possibility of an end zone dance.
Polls don't matter, VOTES DO. If you haven't already voted, VOTE! Polls and estimated electoral college numbers won't get counted election night, votes will.

Then, if the challenger is elected, you guys will all dosey-doe, and the argument flips on it's head.
If the incumbent returns, we already know the formula.
Either way, things will be quieter...for a while anyway...
WCA, Moving to Mexico after Obama wins? It can't be Canada - they have universal healthcare there! Or, are you choosing a more libertarian country to move to, one where government is less intrusive...Hati, perhaps?
Dangerfield,
Quiet, are you kidding? I'll have at least three days of pent up thoughts and morphine myths to unleash. My bedpan will be coming in for a crash landing.
Don't forget Ames, they also don't allow NewsforDumbFux north of the border either!

reading the riposte without the attack is probably more amusing...
Amy, By "if I'm here" i certainly didn't mean the USA.
No worries on my part Ames. I am covered no matter who wins. See, I don't count on the Government or it's Ideals to sustain me.
You on the other hand will, I am sure, be a complete sobbing wreck if Obama loses.
Not to worry Ames, you can still keep his picture on your desk and the Coals hot.

Never underestimate the Pukes ability to steal an election. I will not be secure until it is in the bag on Wednesday morning.
bigdog464,
Love the picture of your hero...says so much about you. Here is a little insight for you to ponder.
Bill Clinton was suspended from practicing law in
Arkansas and paid a $250,000 fine as a result of the Monica Lewinski incident.
He also paid a $850,000 settlement over the Paula
Jones incident.
He was also disbarred from practicing law in front
of the Supreme Court.
So Bill Clinton, a disbarred lawyer, a President
who was impeached for lying under oath, is asking the American people to
believe him when he says the best thing for the country is four more years of
Obama.
That just about covers that argument and your hero worhip...you might want to pick someone else...how about Lincoln or Washington?
All hero worship is suspect...and dangerous.
Lincoln suffered from mental Illness and may have been gay...
Washington owned slaves and apparently had, "fun" with them..
Human beings are all as flawed as your attempt to discredit President Clinton's governance by focusing on his perjury in a civil suit, as opposed to his record as Chief Executive at which even his critics admit he excelled.. He was guilty, and paid the price.
No other President was ever allowed to face a civil suit while in office, it was against the law before the supreme court decided 5-4 to allow Paula Jones sexual harassment suit. It was a "one time" decision.
Now he is the most popular politician in America and while he is cheered around the country and is a huge asset to his party, the last sitting President's name is not even mentioned by his own party, not because of any PERSONAL foibles, but because of his dismal record as Chief Executive, at which even his own party admits he failed.
And all because it was only his business, not the worlds. I remember it well. I remember that line supervisor, who screwed every skirt in the place that would let him, ranting about Clinton's indiscretion. He didn't care that his whole life was a lie. He didn't understand that he was worse than Bill Clinton- he just hadn't gotten caught because no one would tell his wife.
I am disappointed that many can not see themselves in the actions of others. Bill Clinton was unfaithful; just like millions of other Americans. He was heavily punished while most of you walk around unscathed.
Big difference. Bill Clinton did not fail the people; he failed his family. W failed the people and the country; but did not fail his family - to our knowledge.

There you go again Ol' Carpetbagger Bob counting your chickens before the Large Lady even tunes up. We'll just have to see won't we. Any truth to the rumor that Ol McDonnell sat over in the corner and pitched a fit 'cause Christie stole his Photo Op from him.
Good Morning all, am delighted for those folks that have found employment, slow but steady growth always better, akin to loosing weight, slow but steady best. Our 16 year old still employed, housing sales picking up, Sunday Paper weighted down with ads and flyers and for the most part the snow birds have not arrived. Local economy percolating on its own. Construction projects (private) are on the up-swing with great sighs of relief.
Am off to drive some Souls to the Polls, 10 of us trooped to our precinct yesterday, did our Constitutional duty, I know 6 of our group voted for the President, while the others were a bit tight lipped, but that's ok, no Poll Watchers were visible which was even better. Over-joyed at the prospect Mourdock is in the crapper, may he remain there, Walsh tanking, whoo hoo, Akin with his desperate dirty money will not prevail.
Hopes and Prayers for those folks that survived the horror of Sandy and now attempting recovery.
Vote straight Democratic, sisters your lives depend on it.
Obama 2012
blah 2
Although nobody wants to admit it, least of all the crew from FIRST READ, you shouldn't compare this election cycle's polling data to 2004. You should compare it with 1992.
The only difference is that there is no spoiler in the race, like there was with Ross Perot that year.
We have an economically ineffective President who scored a military victory with Bin Laden's capture, and a jobless rate frighteningly similar to that of Herbert-Walker Bush's last quarter in office. (you'll all remember that there was small growth in the last quarter of 1992. But, the country went through a recession that lasted close to two years prior to then, and Bush, likewise, had his own "victory" with the First Gulf War.)
Everything is as it was back in 1992, when the incumbant was defeated and a brash, outspoken state governor was elected President.
The recent jobless numbers will hurt Obama, after all the talk of "improvement" in September. Here we are a month later, back at 8% again (7.9 % to be exact).
Also, I've been seeing people on this message board talk about how wonderful the Obama administration's response to Sandy has been.
Well, NOW you need to come up here and see what's REALLY going on. There are hundreds of thousands of people throughout the region with no power, no heat, no hot water, no food, and now, NO GAS. Staten Island has gotten no help at all from "Sixteen Ounce Mike", and "Photo-Op Barrack." There are people stranded in homeless shelters, garbage is piling up on the streets, and FEMA is NO WHERE IN SIGHT!
As I recall there was a hurricane that swept through Florida just before the '92' election also, and the Federal Government's slow response added to Bush 41's woes.
So when you think about past eletion cycles, '04' is not the model at which to look.
But rather 1992 is what you shouldbe thinking about.
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012!!!!!
Zman-
You are comparing Romney to Pres.Clinton? Seriously?
Bill Clinton was a POPULAR former governor who had new ideas, a winning personality, and the ability to relate to and communicate with the general public. I beleive Clinton won ARkansas?
Romney has none of those qualities. He was an unpopular governor (34% approval) who ran from the views and ideas that got him elected. Romney will lose both Massachusetts and Michigan.
No Comparison.
This is a pretty poor comparison, because George HW Bush inherited a good economy, which turned bad, and George showed himself incapable of truly understanding how bad the economy had gotten. Obama inherited the worst economic mess since the Great Depression and is working to improve it and has gotten almost no help from Republicans, especially once they took over the house.
again why are we going back to bush, seriously, you guys must have got all kinky when you heard barry talk.this is bull, the jobs number goes up from 7.8 to 7.9 and your happy, that real recovery to you libs, what ever.keep blaming bush for his first term, but if he win election again who is he going to blame for his second, himself for his failures and lies.,
Either you posted in the wrong thread or you have no clue as to what that thread was about, as this was talking about George HW Bush, which was Bush Sr. Bush Sr inherited a good economy from Reagan in 89, but it had gone south, largely due to factors beyond his control.
Bush Jr. also inherited a slowing economy and 9/11 only made matters worse. But the economy recovered and was actually doing pretty good until the housing market collapse in 2007-2008. That is what Obama inherited.
BTW, trying to get the economy to recover with Republicans refusing to cooperate with him on anything (including ideas they used to support) is the equivalent of swimming the English Channel with an anchor strapped to your leg. It's a miracle that he's made any progress at all, and the economy would probably be even worse if Republicans had the House in 2009-2010.
blah
CBS News has learned that during the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Obama Administration did not convene its top interagency counterterrorism resource: the Counterterrorism Security Group, (CSG).
In the days after the assault, counterterrorism officials expressed dismay over what they interpreted as the Obama Administration's unwillingness to acknowledge that the attack was terrorism; and their opinion that resources which could have helped were excluded.
Counterterrorism officials from two agencies said they concluded almost immediately that the attack was by terrorists and was not spontaneous. "I came to this conclusion as soon as I heard the mortar rounds were impacting on top of the building our people were occupying," says one. "The position of the mortar must be plotted on a map, the target would have to be plotted, computations would be calculated that would result in the proper mortar tube elevation and the correct number of powder bags to be attached to the rounds."
A White House official says President Obama immediately acknowledged the assault was a terrorist attack. However, there was confusion as White House spokesman Jay Carney said three days later, "We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack."
On Sept.16, US Ambassador Susan Rice told CBS' "Face the Nation" and other talk shows that the assault appeared to have grown from a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video.
CBS' Bob Schieffer asked Rice whether she thought "that this was something that had been plotted out several months ago?"Rice answered, "We do not have information at present that leads us to conclude that this was premeditated or preplanned."
In an interview last week, President Obama said "the minute" he became aware of the Benghazi attack, he directed his staff to "make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to do."

The unemployment rate goes UP, and First Read says this is good news for Obama!
If Romney wins this election, why dont you just close up shop, First Read, your credibility will be irrevocably broken...
And just where will you go for your daily fix BoB? You are a junkie.
Bob -
Almost all you Republicans were claiming unenployment was NEVER really under 8% - it was only 7.8% because of the inaccurate CA reporting and the fact that so many people just quit looking.
So now 171k jobs were added and UE is still under 8%, up slightly because of MORE people looking for jobs again, and you are saying it is bad news?
WOW.
I wanted to share this email with you all..I found it funny...we all need a good laugh once and awhile.I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards.
Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.
For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.
Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are bad-tempered and impatient, and maybe letting us kill some @!$%# that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while...
An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.
If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them.. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.
Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.
They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.
Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.
An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.
These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way.
Let us old guys track down those terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off
old farts with bad attitudes and automatic weapons, who know that their best years are already behind them.
HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...in menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night
Plsthink...............enjoyed that!
You're right we all need a chuckle and that post is good for a few.
I hope everyone votes like I did. I had a choice of two Republicans (Corker and Alexander) and one Democrat (Cooper) who were running virtually unopposed. I voted against them and for a new man in office. The three of these guys may have up to $20 million in campaign funds and will retire with these $20 million in campaign funds. Mr. Cooper hasn't lived in the District for years and sent his sons to schools in Washington, DC, 500 miles away. Vote out Congress. The two Republicans are Norquest pledge signers.
ROMNEY/RYAN 2012
...
Bill, Fairfax
"That's why Romney's core argument that Obama's economic policies have failed is just as potent today as it has ever been."
Correct. It hasn't been enough to change Romney's electoral college problems and it still isn't.
Too many entitlement grabbing losers in that 47% ,Romney was referring to.ADd in another 2-3% of illegal aliens who vote.Add in 1-2 percent of votes to voter fraud, which everyone knows is a dimocrap specialty.Total these facts and you have a dimocrap victory. If any of you losers had to work, pay taxes, you would vote differently!
mas098, That 47% that you are calling losers IS a large part of why Romneyhood is behind in the polls. Calling them names and alienating them is a easy trip to defeat in an election, but I would never expect a dim wit to understand that.
Mas-Too many entitlement grabbing losers in that 47% ,Romney was referring to.ADd in another 2-3% of illegal aliens who vote.Add in 1-2 percent of votes to voter fraud, which everyone knows is a dimocrap specialty.Total these facts and you have a dimocrap victory. If any of you losers had to work, pay taxes, you would vote differently!
So many wrong facts, and so little time until you guys lose the election.
First, most of the 47% live in Red States and quite a few foolishly vote Republican.
Second,illegal aliens don't vote.
Third, the small amount of voter fraud found in this election is Republican.
Fourth, the Blue Democratic States pay far more taxes than the Red Romney States.
Obama/Biden 2012,a vote for REAL AMERICANS.
So, part of last month's bogus employment rate "drop" got corrected... and we created less jobs than we had people joining the workforce... only in Obamabot small minds and fawning media could that be called good news.... give Obama his "participation trophy"....
Once again not enough jobs to keep up with population growth. Unemployment up. Who knows what the real unemployment number is. 10%? Probably. And this is good news? The dummying down of America, and it's willingness to accept this crap as the new normal, is pathetic.
Wow! What a spin.............more jobs created than expected but unemployment rises to 7.9%. Fact.......the unemployment is up, its not getting better and the national debt is rising.
Failure to delivery on Promises continues............FORWARD my A$$
Transparency...................................Benghazi and Fast & Furious
Unemployment.................................7.9%
National Dept...................................16 trillion and rising
Mr. President get off your high horse and face the fact that you are a failure, and you are taking America down with your dismal performance and failed promises.
Two things that seem obvious: The truth prevails and with things trending in Obama's direction it looks almost guaranteed he'll prevail this coming Tuesday.
And that second obvious thing is: You can't lie your way to an election win!
If lieing was a prerequisite to winning an election, you would be right,Obamy would have a distinct advantage, but le is normailly reputed .Therefore,I think Obamy will be looking for a job in Novenmber.Something he can handle, running an apple cart on a corner in Chicagostan!
All politicians lie my dear, and our incumbant is an artist.
As a conservative, I want to return to the balanced budget. That was 1999, and the gov was 1.5 trillion. Our military was tops and we were all making money. Welfare, as far as food stamps was almost becoming obsolete. In 2001, the supreme court installed W as president. His name is now more nefarious than Nixon, a scared recluse painting dog pictures. Tax cuts sounded great, but the $300 checks sent to taxpayers at extreme cost was more of a joke than anything. Then, the march to war.
2007, the market is dropping like a rock. 50,000 casualties, 2 lost wars and Bin laden taunting us with silly tapes. By 2008, the government is 3.5 trillion and we are loosing jobs faster than any time in history. I'm sorry, but at best Romney is a do-over on Bush- at worst an even bigger disaster. 2012, sold my house, building a new one. My company is hiring and my investments have recovered. I see everyone going back to work. But best of all, the government is still 3.5 trillion- it has not grown in 4 years. Like Bloomberg, I have to just face reality and stay the course. The same crew that brought you Iraq wants another turn at the wheel. Most americans seem to get it. We will know Tuesday!
You're pretty thoughtful, as conservatives go. It's not like conservatives can get any more of a feel for where two-faced Romney stands on anything than anyone else can. I think most conservatives are for Romney because he's not Obama. Or clinging to guns and religion.
No conservative would state "the supreme court installed". It is OK to be a bleeding heart liberal. Just don't lie about it.
Near the Sea....
This is where so many New Republicans don't get it. Republicans are not necessarily hard core right wingers just as Democrats are not necessarily hard core lefties. Unfortunately, the Tea Party faction has high jacked the Republican party and guys like Norquist have hog tied Republican moderates and handed the end of the rope to the Tea Party.
