DOSWELL, VA -- Once again throttling back on his most vociferous attacks on President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney continued his effort to paint the president as a partisan without a plan, and pledged to work across the aisle with Democrats if elected president in his second event of a three-stop Virginia campaign day.

Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney greets supporters at a campaign stop at Meadow Event Park, in Richmond, Va., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.
"I'm going to meet regularly with Democrat leaders and Republican leaders. I won't do that once a year, when I say regularly I mean much more frequently than that, because we're going to have to work together," Romney pledged. "These are critical times. This is an election of consequence."
Democrats immediately seized on the irony of Romney delivering these remarks while standing next to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., whom Democrats have long accused of using his power in the House to act as one of the "chief architects" of GOP obstruction to President Obama's agenda.
“For the sole purpose of political gain, congressman Cantor and Republicans in Congress, like Romney’s running mate congressman Ryan, have blocked efforts to achieve a balanced deficit reduction deal and to pass legislation to create jobs now," read a statement from Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith. "The American people need someone who will move us forward, not just serve as a rubber stamp for the right wing.”
Romney, who has dialed down his criticisms of President Obama in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and as the campaigns move into the closing argument phase, continued to ding the president for what he said was a lack of an agenda and a campaign based upon attacks alone.
GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney hits the campaign trail in Roanoke, Virginia criticizing President Obama's economic and energy policies.
"For a while there he was talking about saving characters on Sesame Street, and then it was word games with my name that he was playing, and then of course he got very anxious and went out there and just attacked me day in and day out," Romney said. "Attacking me does not create an agenda for him."
Romney makes one more appearance in Virginia today: a rally in Virginia Beach that was originally planned for Sunday night, but had to be rescheduled due to the approach of Hurricane Sandy.

Romney is assuming that Democrats are going to treat him with more respect and maturity than the Republicans have treated President Obama. Bipartisanship requires two (bi) sides to engage. It requires discussion and compromise. The republicans refused to engage.
Of course you will Romney....of course you will........

President Roosevelt said it best about men like Romney.
Let me warn you and let me warn the nation against the smooth evasion that says
"Of course we believe these things.
We believe in Social Security.
We believe in work for the unemployed.
We believe in saving homes.
Cross our hearts and hope to die, we believe in all these things.
But we do not like the way the present administration is doing them.
Just turn them over to us.
We will do all of them.
We will do more of them.
We will do them better.
And most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything."
Vote Obama/Biden 2012! Protect Worker's and Women's Rights!
have you people notice Romney dont talk about his government job as Governor...hahahahah..because they voted him out
No - didn't run again. He had his one term as governor to fill out his resume and then moved on to running for President - forever!
Should we compare Chicago and Massachusetts?
that's right he knew he was not going to win another election for what he had done my bad...
What's funny is, Republicans like Nixon and Reagan were able to carry the very liberal state of California four out of four elections.
Romney is between 15 and 30 points behind in his own state.
The ones who know him the best, are among those rejecting him the most soundly.
that is the truth...not a word of his work
Spartan117 15 to 30 points behind you say but we know Obama will get 100% of the Muslims vote and 90% of the black vote, 100% of the Communist vote !!! Your point????
It just cracks me up to hear Romney say he was bi-partisan with an over 85% democratically held legislature. HE was bi-partisan? More like we say jump, he asks how high?
He vetoed 800 bills, and the Mass. legislature overturned 700 of them. Sounds like teamwork to me. :-/
What good are meetings when he changes positions at his convience and you can't believe a word he says.
trazmo/fala
LIE, I’ll be good for everybody. “Liberal” governor to Rightie in the primaries to Centrist as candidate to Rightie reborn to Centrist in the debates to Moderate till ELECTION DAY to whoknowswhat. VOTE FOR ME SUCKERS.
LIE: I’ll work with Democrats. But he can’t. Romney’s signed the Teapublican Tax Pledge of never raising the Rich Tax ever even if nation goes over the cliff. Problem’s the Dems and the 99%’ll never buy his hogwash.
What exactly over the last two years makes ANYONE think Republicans have any interest in working with anyone?
RCP just gave Obama a 5.0% lead in Wisconsin and moved him ahead of Romney in their RCP National Average, a place the President has not occupied for six weeks
One more tenth of a point in Wisconsin and it's no longer a toss-up state.
Obama is one and done get over it!!
47 percent video...shows he is bipartisan huh tea nuts
If Romney wins, he might actually find some cooperation. After all, if a Democrat cuts a deal with a Republican, there's not a far-left fringe element that will nominate a far-left fringe candidate to take their place on the ballot.
Republicans, on the other hand, are in great fear of being seen as moderate, because if they show any sign of a willingness to compromise, the Tea Party will replace them during the next primary.
The biggest fear most (R) lawmakers have isn't Democrats, it's having their job taken away by a fringe element within their own party. Until that changes, there will be no "center-right" in Congress.
An Obama victory Tuesday may be the sign that it's OK for moderate Republicans to break ranks from the United States of Norquistpledge, and cut the best deal they can negotiate.
that's called leadership..
Some say leadership, some say pandering....good times, good times.
Romney has been completely abandoned over the past three days by some of the most visible Republican and Independent faces in American politics.
He is a pariah.
KJNC thanks for posting that about Romney in MA. He was rude and aloof to members of both parties and they managed to get a great deal done despite him. He finally asked for a private elevator at the statehouse, so that he wouldn't have to ride with the legislators and he treated them as if he were the CEO and they the underlings. He loaded us down with fees. Two people who want to canoe at Quabbin Reservoir require two $50 fishing licenses just to paddle around. He couldn't win an election in MA for dog catcher which is why he only had one term. Bipartisan??? HA, HA, HA...even if he made a half-hearted effort that unlikeable Mitt takes over pretty fast. He ignored western because we were only 13% of the electorate and very Dem...wished CT would annex us...wouldn't put anyone from this region with the 3rd largest city on his governor's council.
Romney would not have won a two term as governor...did you read this tea nuts..this person wrote the truth..we cant have that huh
47 percent video...shows he is bipartisan huh tea nuts
elvis,
You were one of the first posters that I read so many months ago.
Good to see you in the ring for the final round.
thanks buddy...fighting with you..hand and hand..I have seen you also..keep the good fight up
More lies from a master bullslinger. When he was governor of Mass the other lawmakers had to make appts to see him weeks in advance and he had the door of his office roped off with a security guard present. He never worked with the legislators there like he claimed in his campaign, all lies. Face it, this country does not need another phony running this country, in fact I'd almost rather have Bush back than him. Obama is by far the best man for the job and he has proved that he is working for the middle class of this country, and that is the only thing that will ever get us back on the right course.
Etchy sketchy is so full of manure, he can't remember what he said yesterday, let alone two hours ago.
The weather vane is a spinnin'!!! Huntsman knew Romney too well.
Teddy Kennedy had him pinned years before that: "He's not pro-choice. He's multiple-choice."
You mean Romney..put himself in prison in his own office as Governor..???

To the first seven posters, if you weren't so pathetic, petty, childish and wrong, your posts would be funny. Besides it is also so pathetic that you spend so much time on a computer thinking you make a difference. All you do is chase away everyone with your hate and lies.

Wow, this post is so bitter, it makes coffee grounds jealous.
What's really funny is Ben has a crying-baby-Obama-face as an avatar....clearly, the pinnacle of high-minded, reasonable debate, right?
If Obama wins Tuesday, there are going to be some seriously bitter, angry people out there.
Bitter people? It goes both ways...these last four years have been an all-out war on principles and we now stand as a divided country. Say all you want but when the Repubs came out and declare after several weeks into the Obama presidency that their primary goal was/is to make him a one term President guess which party shoulders most of the blame for the mess we're in. I'll give one hint: The Party of No!
Mitt cannot be trusted! For Pete's sake. No one knows what this guy really stands for or how he would govern. He says anything to try and get elected. He's unfit for the office simply because of his unethical, devious and manipulating behavior. Say anything and do anything to win.
Sure George, and when will you change your position on this? While I'd like to believe you but I can't help but to think that this is yet another way to pander to independent voters. In 2002 BushII called it "Compassionate conservatism". What's your label for this phony gesture? What a crock!
Oh yeah...."I'm a uniter, not a divider."
Then, later, he became "The Decider", and his administration manipulated the war-vote so it fell right before an election and could be used to maximum political advantage.
Bush's father, in the same place in the early 90s, deliberately waited until AFTER the election to hold the first Gulf War vote, because he understood that it was a grave matter, and not to be made into a political football.
Romney won't have the chance to show he is "bipartisan" as he won't be in either the Congress or the Oval office but an unemployed citizen like so many other victims of trickle down economics.
is it me or did Chris Christi look like he need a 2 seat-er on the plane
Worse than that. He needs his own plane, a C-130 Herculies.
hahahahaha
Yeah he looks like a walking heart attack. But I actually like that guy, or at least his attitude. He seems like he uses his thinking mechanism (at least a little) more than most other republicans. I will be candid and admit though, that if I were to learn about his politics, I'd probably begin to dislike him. All I know about him is what I've seen in his handling with Hurricane Sandy and his predicting romney's first debate performance against the president would make a huge difference in the polls. Because I'm in Ohio (president supporter) I don't pay much attention to governors from other states unless they're running for president/VP. I DO know though that Ann Coulter likes him, and if she likes him, chances are his politics and mine clash badly. Is there a legitimate medical reason why he is so large (thyroid problems?) or is it an inability to eat delicious fatty things in moderation?
It will be nice to have a leader in the White House again! A new study came out today showing the ten WORST states to retire in. All were in the Northeast or Midwest and 8 were strong blue states and two are considered swing states. Taxes and debt were two main reasons. Tuesday it will come down to JOBS, debt and deficits!
Um excuse me but that report was on the BEST states to retire in not the worst. I READ the article unlike you
I guffawed when I saw the headline for this story. Republicans seem to think they have no price to pay for willfully obstructing progress in the past 4 years. When they had the minority, they filibustered the crap out of everything, and when they became the majority, they were the party of no, or no perks for the poor unless you also give them to the rich.
Even now, republicans think a good way to teach children distribution is wrong is to not give candy to the kids of parents who support the president for re-election. I'll tell you what that would have taught me as a kid-republicans are mean and I don't want to grow up to be one. When you think of taxing the rich more and taking less from the poor, you think of Robin Hood. Would you rather be like Robin Hood, or a mean republican old fart that would deny a child candy on Halloween over a person's opinion in politics.
I hope all the jerks who participate(d) in discriminating on Halloween over politics get their houses egged. And not while it's raining, when it's sure to dry on there real good, and be a hassle for you to have to clean up. If you want to punish children for what their parents believe, that'd be your just desserts. Angers the heck out of me and I don't even have kids. If I DID have a kid who got denied candy for my support in our president, I'd be (in sheer anger) SURE to buy my kids dozens of eggs and go back and egg their house over and over again until it no longer was fun anymore.
If romney were to win, and he wanted to meet with democrats, I wouldn't hold it against them to get revenge and retaliate in the same manner that the republicans have been striking with the past 4 years. You get what you give people!
I guffawed when I read this pouting like a two year old who had thier candy taken away. Obama had the same political system as all presidents before him. He just failed at functioning in it because, he thought he was King, not servant of the people. I would say he got as much respect and cooperation as Bush did. Sounds like Republicans perfectly reflected your attitude. Is it disturbing to find yourself so much like the people you hate?
Never saw Obama try and act like he was king, and the word you were trying to spell was THEIR. I don't know what rock YOU were living under in the early 2000s, but democrats didn't have a just say no policy on EVERY issue when GWB was in office. Regular everyday democrats didn't start piling on criticism to GWB for his policies and decisions until he was well into his administration. After they found out WMDs was a lie. After the Valerie Plain scam, after GWB said he wasn't worried about Bin Ladin anymore. Sure I didn't agree with some of the little stuff GWB did, but I gave the guy a chance and waited to call him a failure until his big Iraq war ended up being based on lies. And don't forget that GWB's approval rating was somewhere in the 20 percentile range when his presidency was ended, so it wasn't DEMOCRATS that didn't respect him, it was the majority of the nation that was sick of him.
Seeing as how Obama was our first black president, and I (not a black woman) was PROUD of that, I have found myself angered over the past 4 years at how he's been treated by republicans in general. I expected far better of fellow Americans than to discriminate based on race rather than simply policy. The lengths to which the republicans went in opposing the president is probably of historic proportions if I were to look into it, certainly the republicans didn't act this way with Clinton in office until the Monica Lewinsky scandal. That was all just howling in the wind though, because they don't mind supporting republicans who cheat on their spouses.
And for the record, if I'm passing out Halloween candy, I would never ever tell a kid in costume that they couldn't have candy simply because their parents supported a candidate I didn't like. It's a nasty way to act, it lacks class, and kids have nothing to do with politics, they don't even vote. It's republicans who act like that who drive reasonable independents away from the party. And for the record, I wasn't pouting above, I'm clearly very annoyed with the way prominent republicans choose to lead their party and the advice they give to their supporters. How about some decency?!
Willard will be having regular meetings, instead, with his tax lawyers after next week. They will be attempting to keep him out of prison on his tax cheating and fraud charges. Oh yeah, corporations are NOT people.
