Subscribe to RSSDOSWELL, VA -- Once again throttling back on his most vociferous attacks on President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney continued his effort to paint the president as a partisan without a plan, and pledged to work across the aisle with Democrats if elected president in his second event of a three-stop Virginia campaign day.

"I'm going to meet regularly with Democrat leaders and Republican leaders. I won't do that once a year, when I say regularly I mean much more frequently than that, because we're going to have to work together," Romney pledged. "These are critical times. This is an election of consequence."
Democrats immediately seized on the irony of Romney delivering these remarks while standing next to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., whom Democrats have long accused of using his power in the House to act as one of the "chief architects" of GOP obstruction to President Obama's agenda.
“For the sole purpose of political gain, congressman Cantor and Republicans in Congress, like Romney’s running mate congressman Ryan, have blocked efforts to achieve a balanced deficit reduction deal and to pass legislation to create jobs now," read a statement from Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith. "The American people need someone who will move us forward, not just serve as a rubber stamp for the right wing.”
Romney, who has dialed down his criticisms of President Obama in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and as the campaigns move into the closing argument phase, continued to ding the president for what he said was a lack of an agenda and a campaign based upon attacks alone.

"For a while there he was talking about saving characters on Sesame Street, and then it was word games with my name that he was playing, and then of course he got very anxious and went out there and just attacked me day in and day out," Romney said. "Attacking me does not create an agenda for him."
Romney makes one more appearance in Virginia today: a rally in Virginia Beach that was originally planned for Sunday night, but had to be rescheduled due to the approach of Hurricane Sandy.

Yes, let's compare accomplishments. Romney - born rich; used family wealth and connections to get a first class education, then get even richer.
Obama - born to single mother, then orphaned; raised by working class grandparents; obtained first class education by sheer determination and effort; then used education to work for disadvantaged. Elected state senator, US Senator and President of the US. Stabilized an economy on the verge of Depression, rescued the auto industry, ended one war and is winding down the other, killed the number one terrorist in the world. Yeah, I can see who has the better track record.
By the way, ACORN didn't lose federal funding for cheating, unless you count the fabricated lies by the right wing as cheating; then I agree with you.

It's hard to pick the biggest lie told by Romney in his campaign, but the one about bipartisan Mitt has to be way up there The reality is that he issued 844 vetoes, all but 3 overriden by the Legislature. He only avoided a perfect zero score by virtue of the Legislature not being in session for those. On the flip side, he was being uncharacteristically honest when he said he was a seriously conservative governor. On that one we should believe him; moderate Mitt will Etch-a-Sketch back to the real guy after the election.

Romney would hold meetings with Democrats? Isn't that what the whole Republican Party refuses to do with Democrats now in the Congress? Meetings don't accomplish anything if one side refuses to negotiate for a deal, based on ways to accomplish the goals of the deal, and not whether or not a Republican should stop a bill about infrastructure because it doesn't have a Roe vs. Wade denouncement provision in it!
Get real, Romney! The only reason Romney "dealed" in Massachusetts was because the Democratic majority held all the power, and Romney still managed to be 47th in job creation, as compared to the rest of the states!
Romney forced lower taxes on the population of Massachusetts, then raised the price for all government services, quadrupled the cost to register guns, and raised auto registration and driver's license fees, and penalties on parking tickets, and court costs, and fines, and fuel taxes, and home taxes, and building permits, and school taxes, in order to still leave the state billions in the hole when Romney lost after only one term as Governor!
It is highly likely he would do the same thing nation-wide and blame bigger deficits on the states, or on the poor, his usual favorite suspects!
Romney has no way, and Ryan has no time, to even explain one loophole on the rich either one of them would remove, like tax write-offs for personal aircraft used for business purposes.
Romney and Ryan refuse to show Americans their past tax returns! If Americans let them get away with this, it will stop all future candidates from showing their taxes, too! Can't we see why Romney should show his tax returns, if for no other reason, than adhering to what every other candidate, for the office of President, has done in the past?
Why does Romney think he is so "SPECIAL"? Why should Willard Romney and Paul Ryan get a pass, unless they have something to hide? We should all suspect they do have something to hide! And Republicans allow this folly to continue, because our current President is black, or is a Democrat, or is suspected of being a terrorist from Uranus, hellbent on saving us from the Armageddon Romney will surely begin when he gets our war machine tearing our hearts out and ignoring the needs of our own country, while his Neo-Con backers make bank at Halliburton and Xe, and for General Dynamics, but leave nothing for our infra-structure repairs, while collecting dividends off the 60 million Mitr Romney has invested in for-profit Charter Schools he will collect on as soon as he passes his School voucher plan! Romney claims his business experience will help us. Are the folks at his stores making living wages? While Romney makes an I-phone stylus for a few pennies in China, where his Romney Enterprise zones are, he sells the styluses to his own LLC in the Cayman Islands for 12 bucks, thus taking all the profit out before the final shipment to the US, where he can claim he is only making a buck off of each stylus and sells them for $12.99 at his Staple's Stores! Romney uses tax dodges like this to keep from paying taxes in the US on profits! And he makes more than 12 bucks on each stylus he sells!
How can Republicans believe Romney's experience of "how to cheat on taxes" will benefit our nation when he wil continue to do it as our President and will block any efforts to lower his profit margins?
Hell, Romney, using his tax dodges, even stopped in a hardware store after the Olympics and bought some hardware "stuff" so he could get a break flying his personal jet back to Utah, where his business purpose was to use his hardware "stuff" and staple a "Dancing horsie for sale" sign on a telephone pole, while meeting at his favorite retreat to brag about the tax break he just earned.

He is still running around telling his supporters he's going to win, well, we have an incumbent President that got something to say about that, come Nov 6, so will we. And as far as candidate rumney reaching across the isle, he can do that in a theater playing the tape of him saying "he don't care about of 47% of the Country". I do have to wonder thought, we know President Clinton endorced President Obama, why is it that President Bush(both of them), is not endorcing Candidate rumney?
