New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and President Obama talk after flying over damaged communities and talking with residents, saying they are determined to rebuild as quickly as possible.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has adamantly insisted that presidential politics are the furthest thing from his thoughts during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, though that hasn’t stopped some from filtering his praise for President Barack Obama through a political prism.
The pugnacious New Jersey governor, who supports Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney over Obama this fall (and delivered the keynote address at Romney’s nominating convention), has heaped effusive praise on Obama’s handling of Hurricane Sandy, the massive superstorm to wreak havoc in the northeast, and especially the Jersey Shore.

Larry Downing / Reuters
President Barack Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie talk with survivors of Hurricane Sandy in a community center while touring damaged areas in Brigantine, New Jersey, October 31, 2012.
“I want to thank the president for coming here today. It's really important to have the president of the United States acknowledge all the suffering that's going on here in New Jersey and I appreciate it very much,” Christie said this afternoon as he and Obama toured the devastation. “We're going to work together to make sure we get ourselves through this crisis and get everything back to normal.”
Obama was similarly complimentary, telling people at the Brigantine community center that Christie, who is up for re-election next year in deep-blue New Jersey, “is working overtime to make sure that as soon as possible everybody can get back to normal.”
The two appeared together, along with the New Jersey congressional delegation, following their tours to give similar remarks on camera.
Mitt Romney has continued to push full-speed ahead with his campaign in the battleground state of Florida this morning. The president's campaign team is charting the political course ahead while he tours some of the worst damage in New Jersey. Jen Psaki, Obama traveling press secretary, discusses.
The mutual praise is an outgrowth of both leaders’ handling of a natural disaster, but it coincides with a crucial juncture in the presidential campaign, with just days to go until Election Day. Obama is trying to preserve an advantage in swing states as Romney barnstorms the country in an effort to subsume the incumbent president.
Christie rebuffed suggestions on Tuesday that there were political implications to his work with the administration.
"I've got 2.4 million people out of power. I've got devastation on the shore. I've got floods in the northern part of my state,” he said on Fox News. “If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics then you don't know me."
And the Romney campaign gave Christie a pass for his work with Obama on Wednesday, dismissing a question about whether the GOP nominee was annoyed by the New Jersey governor’s praise for the president.
“Gov. Christie's doing his job. He's the governor of the state that's been hit by a very, very horrific storm,” Romney adviser Russ Schriefer said in a conference call with reporters. “He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing as governor of New Jersey. And the president is doing what he needs to be doing as president.”
That won’t necessarily stop observers from searching for political implications in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, especially so close to Nov. 6.
“I am hesitant to kind of make political calculations about the impact of an event that resulted in the deaths of 50 people and the loss of $50 billion in property,” senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod said on a separate conference call this morning. “This was a disaster of huge proportions, and the president is doing what his responsibilities require -- and that includes going to New Jersey, as is what he's done in the case of every major disaster during the course of his presidency, to offer the support of the people of our country, to tour the scene himself, to speak firsthand with the first responder and the elected officials at the scene.”
Obama will return to the campaign trail on Thursday after canceling three days’ worth of political events. And Romney on Wednesday was mostly tentative in attacking Obama, opting instead for a softer tone and words of encouragement for recovery efforts in the northeast.
Axelrod suggested that the storm essentially washed out several days of campaigning, during which point there was no movement in the jockeying between Romney and the president.
“Wherever you think this race is, it tended to freeze the race because people are focused on the storm,” he said. “That's what's been in the news; normally the election would have been in the news. So I think it's fair to say that that is the case.”
But as a series of polls suggest Romney is trailing in some battleground states, those days might also be crucial opportunities lost.

Today we got a glimpse of what true leaders look like!
Both President Obama & Governor Christie put aside partisian politics to do what is RIGHT for the people of this country!
Unlike, Willard and his team who went against the wishes of the Red Cross and bought $5K worth of crap they didn't ask for and don't want!
Instead of staging photo-ops & getting in the way of Governors, why isn't Willard on the phone with Adelson and the Koch Suckers asking them in lieu of campaign funds, to donate directly to those in need at this time????
Someone who can spend $100 million on a campaign can sure afford to give a little something to the victims!
I am not a fan of Governor Christie's but the man is doing a great job, along with the spectacular job that our president is doing for NJ as well as the other states that have been hit. I gotta give props to Christie for the smack down he gave those jerks over at the "entertainment" channel. That was pure Christie!
Obama/Biden 2012
Agreed. Christie impressed me and he could be tough in 2016. Willard in comparison, looks like a petty little punk who will lie, say, or do anything to get an advantage. Obama and Christie rising to the occasion makes Willard look petty and small.
Feisty, I don't know that Willard and his team went against the Red Cross wishes in so much as I don't think they even bothered to talk to anyone at Red Cross to see what should be done. I think it was another one of those "shoot first, ask questions later". That seems to be Romney's style. Whatever way it went, one thing is for sure, it was completely self serving.
Wasn't it AG?
CLASSIC! Glad I had some *popcorn* handy!
You may be onto something...
Al,
Don't be silly, that would require integrity on his part!
Christie is sure a better governor in a crisis than Romney ever was!
It would be nice to see either candidate pull their attack ads and donate the money to the relief efforts instead.
Any guess on how long it takes before skanky goes back to calling him Governor Krispy Kreme?
Well Jen, what charitable activity have *you* done recently?
With hurricane Sandy still lingering Romney is lying his a$$ off with his hate ads, wake up America this guy is a loser !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Totally true, Layton. Romney refused to pass up a fundraising event even though his state was 6 feet under water. Took him days to respond to some mayors' requests for emergency help status. God help us ALL if we were to wind up with him in the driver's seat of this country.
Barack Obama was doing his job as President of the United States.
Chris Christie was doing his job as Governor of New Jersey.
Since he's been doing it for the last seven years, Mitt Romney must be doing his job as the losing Candidate for the Republican party for the office of President of US.
Who do you trust ?
Who do I trust?
OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!
Wow, we all agree. Why can it be like this most of the time?
To all of you liberals, that are now cooing over Christie, you should be ashamed! You have posted horrific comments about Governor Christie for years!!!!!!!!!!!
Christie was the leader in this situation, fortunately Obama came along as an apprentice. NOW, your bipartisan. Disgusting.
Romney/Ryan and Christie for a "United" States of America
That's the single most quote-worthy statement of the political season!
Last week who would have thought it would be Christie making it? But I admire him greatly for it.
Bravo Gov, bravo.
CantAfford: please show me the quotation where President Obama lied about anything that happened in Libya.
I imagine on Nov. 7, all the talking points will be on how Romney isn't a real conservative and that's why he lost. Forget about the fact that the message of evangelical, conservative, Tea Party controlled GOP is a total failure. It has to be the messenger that gets killed, because if the message itself is wrong, then the GOP would have to actually use their brains and try to govern the nation, not just control and destroy.
As to military trust, look at the Republican budget and ask who is cutting veteran's benefits. Or look to the Senate and ask who blocked a veteran's jobs bill. While you might believe that the military doesn't trust Obama, reality points to just the opposite.
Last week who would have thought it would be Christie making it?
ME.
Christie speaks the truth and would never be Romney's #1 surrogate, if he believed the vitriol that all of you spew.
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a Strong America
Hey, moron, there is one distinct difference between liberals and conservatives. We know when to lay down the sword and give praise where it is warranted. It seems that you could take your cue from Governor Christie. He is doing what he needs to do for his people. I would expect nothing less from any governor whether they are republican or democrat. For me personally, I still don't care for Governor Christie, but I am going to give props to the man for putting politics aside to make sure that his state gets what it needs to begin the recovery process. I also see nothing wrong in Gov. Christie praising the president for everything he is doing. Stop being a douche, you only make it worse on yourself.
Obama/Biden 2012
Cantafford -
"Yea redhead... a "true leader" always allows Americans to be slaughtered and then lies about it."
So what were the names of the Marines killed in Lebanon, who were not allowed to carry ammunition, under the Reagan administration?
How about all those people on 9/11, who was in office again?
It's not that I believe any of these Presidents wished Americans to be slaughtered. The President is not a wizard who just looks into a crystal ball and can see what is about to happen all over the world at any time. The use of this as a partisan tool is just ridiculous as it takes your being able to ignore all other administrations and the precedents set during them, to revise history, and to ignore reality. But, I suppose that is the nature of partisanship.
There are none; as there is no proof unfounded accusations made about Obama are true either.
I HAVE REPEATEDLY CHALLENGED REPUBLITARDS TO PROVE THEIR ASSERTIONS AND NOT ONE CAN. NOT ONE.
So screw them who ask. They aren't worth the dirt to spit on.
Just no pleasing you right wing nuts... is there?
First you bitch when we disagree with him and continue to bitch when we give him proper credit!
It's okay, we see how it's eating you alive that one of your team can work with the President! lol
What sad, petty lives you all lead!
Feisty:
Case in point.
I have been adding "bipartisan" LONG before Christie offered the applause. I like when people work together.
Romney/Ryan to end the partisan bullying
We should be ashamed when a Republican acts with integrity? Are you seriously that screwed up? You sir have some serious issues to attend to. You're mentally unhinged.
@ Independent Thought
Now is the best damntime to be bipartisan. When disaster strikes every American should put aside his own personal beliefs and work together for the good of his country and his fellow man.
If you can't get past peoples political stance in the aftermath of a huge disaster you never will and that's sad.
Then why are you whining about it like a 3rd grade school girl?
You've been at it all day...
Ummm....
Roger that! lol
Yes, Jeff, it would appear so. This person is in a constant state of twisted spinning that I have to wonder if he/she is not blogging from some mental institution right now. Such a tormented soul.
Romney refused to pass up a fundraising event even though his state was 6 feet under water.
Obama did the same thing. Except instead of being under 6 feet of water, we had our Ambassador and three men dead.
So what is your point?
Zen:
Take a quick peak at all of my posts. "Bipartisan" was in the tag line long before Sandy.
Nice try.
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a "United" States of America
crisis always brings forward the best in all Americans. romney could be the first within this great country of ours to develop the worst in all of us. he is nothing more than a spineless fraction of a little man, who will never understand the qualities of leadership. a draft dodger who wishes to be commander in chief.
Cantafford, I am also calling you out on your ridiculous statement that the military has "abandoned" Obama, as I among many other military service members support the President. I certainly am not the only one and sure would love to know how you seem to know so much about what the miltary state of mind is when it comes to voting.
If you are using that old, tired excuse that Democrats are anti-military and Republicans are pro-military, I truly believe you are an idiot who has no business voting this season. I stand with a candidate who speaks from the heart and doesn't see the country in %'s. Barack Obama.
Feisty:
You really think you are helping your party? You are the opener to nearly every First Read, and apparently the impression you wish to give to the undecideds. Who would follow you, but the same mob that does here on First Read?
Romney/Ryan with Christie 2012
FRR, IL: They're all mad because Christie didn't run this year and they got stuck with Gov. Etch-a-sketch.
Now that Gov. Christy and Pres. Obama are showing what it means to be real leaders, with principals, more interested in governing and helping the people of the nation who elected them than in the politics of running for office; the GOP extremists can't stand it.
What most people realize is that if Chris Christie were the GOP nominee, in this situation he would be doing the same thing he is doing and President Obama would be doing what he is doing. There might be a little more tension when they meet, but they would each do what needs to be done and praise the other for their work.
Unlike McCain and Romney, President Obama and Governor Christie know that there is a time to set politics aside. When there is a crisis, you do what is right for the nation.
I just hope the people in Congress learn that lesson.
I used to live in NJ.
Don't like Christie - I think he's rude & obnoxious . . . . BUT, I do respect how much he cares (in his own way) about NJ, and what he's doing in this emergency.
I also appreciate that he's being honest & forthright about the help he's getting from President Obama . . . . contrast to Lyin' Ryan, who diss'es - eg, the Stimulus - and then takes anyway.
.
Myth Robme on Mass & disaster relief:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/31/mitt-romney-sandy_n_2049852.html?utm_hp_ref=politics
.
You would think he would have learned, from his experience as gov of Mass, that disaster relief is slowed down & made more expensive by donating cans & other supplies - it takes time, energy, and manpower away to deal with donated items.
.
Myth Robme & Lyin' Ryan - good at photo op's (well, except when the pots have already been washed!) but pretty useless otherwise!
.
O & Joe! 4 more!
dirp:
No matter who runs on the ticket, vitriol spews.
Romney/Ryan with Christie 2012
These photos are priceless:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GDb4e4WCKgw/UJAER9sMk4I/AAAAAAAAC0g/p4Kn3o91qbw/s1600/chris+obama.jpg
I wonder how many in Christie's own party will disown him...
Thank you President Obama and Governor Christie. This is how you work bi-partisan - yes we can. Now if we could get Boehner and McConnell (only one term president number one priority) could learn from this. It should always be the country first.
Obama/Biden 2012
Mickey:
None. Christie stands for what is right for the nation, that is why he is Romney's number one surrogate.
Romney/Ryan with Christie 2012
Feisty and my other liberal friends - it was good to see Governor Christie and President Obama together today. You could tell that today they both clearly admired the efforts of the other and appreciated what they were doing together.
Hopefully the rest of the Republicans will learn from this and work with the President during his 2nd term - for the good of the country.
Why isn't Donald Trump just giving that $5 million to the Red Cross to show what a great person he is? Oh that's right - he's not!
Obama/Biden 2012
WAIT....................................... HOLD THE PRESS.
A few months plus Libs said Christie was the dumb fat guy who could not make a righteous decision if his dinner(s) depended on it. Today he is a righteous guy????
Libs, nothing like wet the finger into the wind........
Elise:
First time, I have seen you use bipartisan. We can only imagine how wonderful it will be when Romney is President of the US and we get to witness that type of team work for years to come. Christie is a HUGE Romney supporter.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Correction... I KNOW I'm helping my party!
You have NO idea the amount of support I receive behind the scenes... so STUFF IT!
If you bothered to look, you would see right now I have over 350 Newsviners who follow me from both sides of the aisle!
Then there is my FaceBook page... lol
BTW - How many followers do YOU have?
Knowing Christ y this may all be a set up as this arrogant right wing nut doesn't usually act this way. Expect to be stabbed in the back next week right before the election! Christy= Brutus I fear!
Never will I ever forget what Romney did to his Dog !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Independent Thought - yes, you can only imagine - 'cause it's not gonna happen!
Obama/Biden 2012
Feisty,
You're helping your party and your country to protect us from the lies an extremes of the right! The New Nazi Fox Nation has to be stopped!
Feisty:
Congrats on the followers:
Seeking...we will see.
Clwyd...don't underestimate the middle 50%.
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a bipartisan Presidency.
To the toad,
You really need to let it go. It is an ongoing investigation with still lots to be discovered and analyzed. What part of that do you not understand? Now, as far as president Obama's reaction to Hurricane Isaac? He acted accordingly. By waiting a few days to tour the area himself, he and his team wisely kept out of the way of the ground efforts there. Nothing wrong with that. He made a very wise decision. His being there would only have caused additional problems when many people were trying to work as fast as they could to help victims. He acted swiftly and quickly in getting the people the federal need that is required in such a tragic event.
Romney? I have already discussed his reaction to an event that happened while he was the Gov. of MA.
Please stop addressing me. You bore me with your little trivial rantings.
Good news folks. The latest Wisconsin Marquette U. Poll has it Obama up now by 51% to 43% That is a big jump in a week! I think some of the after debate results can be seen here as well! Tommy Thompson dropped down a little too! He always was a loud mouth and his ads. have been judged to be false and extreme!
clwyd,
Thanks for the shout out!
It feels awesome to be making a difference, no matter how small it may be! ;o)
I wonder when they right wing nut jobs are going to start calling Gov. Christie a RINO?
PS, I wonder when those criticising Feisty for praising Christie and accusing her of being falsely bipartisan have ever posted anything here other than highly partisan rants themselves?
Indepemdent Thought,
Where did you make up that bipartisan talk? Romney's ads. say he will work together, but why did he use the governors veto power over 800 times as governor of Mass. if he was bipartisan! You rigthies believe his lies! I bet you believe that Jeep is moving too! See the latest poll in Wisconsin?
At the end of the day, we are all Americans.
When the $hit hits the fan, we work together.
It was inspiring to me to see the President and Governor Christie on the same stage, putting political divisions aside, providing true leadership and working together for the sake of WE THE PEOPLE.
Bali Bob - exactly!!!
Obama/Biden 2012
This is funny, Since Romney has been talking up his bipartisanship ability and it's been working for him in the polls, now NBC/MSNBC wants to tout little boy 0bama's bipartisan credentials by showing a governor doing his job while 0bama steps in for a photo-op.
0bama is absolutely pathetic!
Even Mayor Bloomberg had to stop 0bama from coming to NYC for a photo-op.
Meanwhile Romney is spotted behind a teeter grocery store in VA taking donation and loading his bus with supplies for storm victims. WITH NO PRESS.
Then you have Andrea Mitchell trying to say that Romney isn't helping anyone and just getting in the way. The entire Media Mafia has gone insane if they think that citizens getting together to gather aid or donate money to the Red Cross for storm victims is a bad thing.
Obamas dog was dinner for him. I'd rather be Romneys dog and arrive safe, and in the breeze where dogs love to be, than to end up in stew like Obamas did.
@elliot,
Umm, Neil Cavuto on Fox News "touted" President Obama's "bipartisan credentials" by saying that we need to put political crap aside during a crisis.
And Governor Christie publicly put the kaibash on a speculated visit by Governor Romney to New Jersey... Also on Fox News.
Shocking, I know.
W.M. Hedges - President Obama was 7 years old and had no say in what was for dinner. Romney was a grown man. World of difference idiot!
Obama/Biden 2012
Censorship was practiced by Communist and Nazis. Who is following that path "
Now think real hard people, because it is happening right here.
Christie wants Obama to win because he's running on 2016.
You are probably 100% correct in that assertion.
WM Hedges: Really? Come on old man.
Some of you Republitards are sick and very disturbed people.
WM Hedges - that would be the Republican party following that path. And, signing loyalty oaths to Grover Norquist - creepy isn't it?
Obama/Biden 2012
Any bets who little Willy is a re-reg of?
Dayum they are dumb! lmao
I think that most of the country learned that canned goods and clothing drives only slow down the efforts of emergency workers in the first few weeks of a tragic disaster. We learned that shipping costs negated the value of the goods and even when freely trucked in, congested traffic in all of the chaos made distribution almost impossible. Hurricane Katrina taught the entire nation invaluable lessons concerning disaster relief on a massive scale.
Cash donations were the quickest and most efficient methods of immediate relief. Able bodied volunteers willing to work and live under horrible conditions to clean up the mess was the next crucial step. God bless them all.
Romney's paltry attempt to "do his part" was fruitless and incomprehensible. This was not a small Ohio flooded town(in the fifties) at the mouth of the river where a food and clothing drive would be appreciated. There would be no gracious church ladies to offer hugs, kisses and warm apple pie in return for his efforts. This is a huge national disaster that requires a huge national effort to quickly restore a semblance of civilization to grievously suffering fellow Americans.
There was so very much more that an ultra wealthy candidate for President could have done to provide real relief for the millions of struggling and anguished people of the east coast. His little "Mayberry RFD Show" on his hurried return to the campaign trail demonstrates exactly how out of touch the man is with mainstream America even during a national disaster.
How intresting to see that when A REAL LEADER IS NEEDED, THE GOP TURNS TO Obama!!!!
Mitt Romney would be THE DISASTER. HE WOULD profit from the situation, and make it "A business"
As he said, "He is all business, and does not care about the 47% that are just leeches"
I have no clue, Feisty. I am sure that there are many "double dipper" conservatives on this site as well. I guess if you are afflicted with the Sybil complex it is understandable. Maybe that's why they all love Romney so much? They all share the same disorder! By Jove I think I've finally got it!!
4 more4 44!
Given the way Christie has looked over the past 24 hours, it seems quite jaded to suggest that he's calculated that being supportive of the POTUS now increases his chances in 2016. That said, I suppose anything is possible in politics and he probably knows if R&R get in for 4 years, no GOPer will have a snowballs chance in hell at the WH for another 8 years after that.
The joke is ON YOU. Mitt Romney TIED his dog to the ROOF of his car.
That is what he is going to do with all of you: TIE YOU UP FINANCIALLY, AND LET YOU DRY IN THE SUN!!!
@veterans of this site,
What exactly is a "re-reg"?
Is it someone who gets suspended from the site and comes back as a different alias?
@Feisty,
Have noticed that you've been suspended several times for your use of, I dare say, "colorful" language...
...yet you've always come back as your Feisty self.
What's the diff?
Commonsense101, you have none.
Mitt attached a kennel to the top of his car. Many people including myself transport our dogs in the bed of our trucks or in a kennel mounted to a hitch receiver behind our SUVs.
Irespond, you are an absolute ideologue with a mind full of current TV and Rachel Maddow crap.
W.M.Hedges -- I'm randomly picking one of your comments out of a whole multitude of dumb-a$$ comments here, but seriously, Romney strapped his dog to the top of his car out of consideration for what his dog would want -- to be out in the breeze from a car traveling, let's say, 60 mph? And haven't you seen the random luggage and other items by the side of the road that have fallen off or out of cars? That comment of yours wasn't even a nice try -- it was one of the lamest attempts yet at trying to excuse Romney's cold-blooded behavior. Honestly, you were laughing as you were typing it, weren't you?
Bali Bob,
These are people who have been BANNED for their behavior & refuse to abide by the rules of Newsvine!
Unlike the liars & cheaters, I take the punishment doled out and deal with it accordingly!
People may hate me, however, they can NEVER call me a liar or a cheater!
Which is why I sleep soundly at night! ;O)
PS: We also have to endure the multiple re-regs who think anyone is belieiving their credibility!
This is NOT the place to attempt to pass off; safety in numbers!
I take my "lumps" accordingly...
elliot
Spoken like a True Teabagger! Also full of Fox crap. LOL
I think what Governor Christie said on Faux and friends was on point and put them in their place.
Much respect for Governor Christie now, MUCH respect.
It is truly sad it takes a disaster of this proportion to bring two polar opposites together but hey it is refreshing.
With that being said, I would say Governor Christie is now the front runner for the GOP in 2016. And if he stays the course, he could very well get my liberal vote.
Romney doesn't hold with FEMA. Says the states need to handle their emergencies. Additionally, has hinted He would privatize It. Christi, a republican, and a surrogate for Romney, and the Governor of "New Jersey" gets the hell slamed out of His state. The people need help, help that the state can't give 'em. Who does He call? The democratic President and Romneys hated FEMA. Why? Christi, is responsible first to the well being of the people under His governance. He lays partisan politics aside, and does what is morally right and responsible. He calls the President and FEMA, who quickly respond. The President, Governor Christi, and FEMA did what they are there to do. By doing the right thing though, Christi did leave Romney, like the turd He is, sticking to the side of His own Chamber pot. This will be held against Christi by the republicans.
Feisty, Today I just feel lucky to be safe. My heart goes out to all my fellow survivors of this tragedy and to all that lost their family and loved ones. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people that are suffering due to this storm. A special thanks to all the first responders and the National guard for all their hard work. Thank you to the Surf City volunteer Fire Dept and the Surf City Police Dept. for helping all my friends and family during this difficult time. You will have my love and respect forever.
@Charlie-1915998#1.79: Republicans will toss Him just like they did Florida's "Charlie Crist". Republicans are real "CRAZY" sons-ah-bitches.
I honestly think it helps him. It makes him look interesting to me. But he can screw that up in 4 years too.
One thing I am not is a Democrat. I have and will vote Republican WHEN I FEEL the candidate deserves my vote. So far the last three have been duds. I did vote for Bush Sr but I'll be damned if I will for Mitt.
@Lisa s-1749992#1.80: Good for you Ma'am. I know you have to be upset and worried, but you and your Neighbors just hold on. Many caring people ready to help all of you. We're in this together, and we'll get through it together. Don't let it overwhelm. We'll all fix It. Sleep well and take care.
The constant attacks on Gov. Romney from FIESTY REDNECK are the same folks that have produced the disgusting and deplorable campaign ads of the elderly ladies that are threatening retaliation on Gov. Romney and the republicans if Obama is defeated.
These ads are inappropriate, threatening and a direct reflection on Barack Obama who is seeking the highest office in the land.
We, the people deserve better and Gov. Romney will make it happen.
I wonder if Romney's going to donate 2 million hand held can openers since the people he's donating all those canned goods to DON'T HAVE POWER???
Listen, I truly believe he wants to help, but I mean, get real. You're a Harvard Grad, dude. You can't figure out how to contact the Red Cross to see what they ACTUALLY need?
As far as Christie goes, I like him. I DON'T like his politics, but I find his personality refreshing. His working with Obama has NOTHING to do with his politics, Obama's or my own. THAT'S THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT. That we should be able to put that @!$%# aside during times like this.
And for those the poster who's disparaging liberals for appreciating that about Christie, well what would you like them to do? Say, "@!$%# it, let the republicans die because we don't like their platform"??? Seriously, get over it.
And I'm still waiting for some proof that Obama lied about Lybia, let it happen, or hasn't performed in regards to it the same way as pretty much every POTUS before him, who's found themselves in a similar situation.
MacForester, Thank you.
Wow. Way to use a national disaster as a political spring board. Wohoo for the liberal posters. Pathetic. Romney is still gonna win by the way.
Sarah, you want proof about the president lying about Libya, try using this amazing tool. Its called Google. That's G-O-O-G-L-E. Try names like Lt. Colonel Andrew woods, or Tyrone Woods (Who disobeyed orders from D.C. to stand down and sacrificed his life to save fellow Americans). Try reading up on the investigation in congress and the testimonies that have been given. You liberals always talk about "being informed" but you never bother to do any research yourself. You just believe whatever Times, or ThinkProgressive, or NBCNews tells you.
The party that of "tolerance and original thinking." Ha. The party of utter hypocrisy.
May I get people to sign some sort of petition to get Elliot to stop posting comments in size-16 boldface? It's like he's trying to compensate for his profound lack of insight or credibility by accomplishing what only amounts to the visual equivalent of a whiny five-year-old who just won't stop crying, screaming, and shrieking until he gets to eat his cookie.
Back to the article. Whatever shady agenda underlies (Christie 2016 sounds much more plausible after eight years of a Democratic administration than after four years of a Republican administration), I think Christie has earned the nation's respect these past few days. He, along with Jon Huntsman, is one of the very few presidential-looking Republicans that does deserve a shot at the presidency. Too bad Reps will end up nominating some out-of-touch wingnut like McDonnell or Rubio, if not someone even worse.
Romney probably had Ann go through the cabinets at home and collect all the expired cans of food to donate. If it every occurs to Romney to donate money, it'll be at a press conference with one of those 3 ft. x 5 ft. cardboard "presentation" checks so that the moment will make headlines. :)
AndresTM -- I agree with you about Christie and Huntsman, however, they both caved in to the ultra-conservatives of the Republican party. I thought Huntsman had a shot at the nomination early on, but he was probably too intelligent, i.e., he could think for himself and he wasn't someone the average Repub would want to have a beer with. Anyway, he caved in just before he quit the race and I was glad he quit, so Obama could run against one of the remaining nitwits instead.
I have a young adult son that now lives in New Jersey. He, his mother and most of his mother's family are facing living without electricity for weeks or perhaps a month. The gas stations that remain open have lines 3 or more hours long. All of the available generators are long gone. The weather dips into the 30's at night. A cold front is moving in. Their only means of communication with civilization are cell phones. For whatever reason, most of them do not own car chargers(I expect they have little experience with Hurricanes). They scramble for every opportunity to charge their phones and keep their conversations as short as possible.
He grew up on the west coast of Florida with me. We dodged many bullets his entire life with near misses and severely bad weather due to hurricanes. He thought he was the Hurricane expert among his mother's family until he faced a direct hit. I got through to him on his cell phone about 24 hours after Sandy's landfall. My tremendous relief with the sound of his voice was met with this exclamation, " Dad, we've been through lots of hurricanes. I never thought it could be like this". I explained that he had experienced his first direct hit that we were lucky enough to avoid all of those years when he was home.
His experience in working with me in the electrical field allows him to help his few neighbors with generators to maximize the use of them. He sparingly calls me for advice when the need arises. At the same time, he lives with his uncle with no power for heat, cooking, refrigeration, hot water or lights. Many of their appliances are gas(unlike here), but all with electric or electronic controls. These folks desperately need generators. I have ordered one for my son with no idea when or if he may receive it. I would suggest that this is the greatest immediate need to many of these stricken people.
Hey can'taffordnomore We can't afford Romney in the White House. As much as I don't like Obama, he is much better for the veterans of this country. I know Obama didn't serve in the military, but I don't think old Willard did either. All Willard is trying to do is please his backers in the Military Industrial Complex. And that is at the expense of the tax payers.
Commonsense 101,FEMA took a delivery of genarators that are headed to Lakehurst N.J. Everybody else is out of them. my son-in-law is in construction sales. I wish your son good luck.
John Doe,
Why should I make your case for you? Prove your own point. You're asserting he mishandled the situation to that extent, YOU prove it yourself. You want us to believe it, well we WON'T until you SHOW us some sort of credible evidence.
Otherwise, deal with being called out for being full of it.
I don't ask you to prove MY points, now do I? I know what I think happened and how I think he responded, because I DID MY OWN research. I'm not posting my opinion then being snarky and telling you to prove my opinion correct, now am I?
This isn't a hard concept. It's actually the back bone of our Constitution. The burden of proof is on the accuser.
Fiesty Redhead
REEAALLY?
Just what I thought....you have just identified yourself.
I speak the truth and I'm not concerned as to how many followers I have that like AND influence what I say to maintain their following.
Good news. Thank you.
P.S. I prefer BING.
There's your problem Sarah. Bing sucks. Every time I open a new tab, they throw my cursor into their stupid search box. So when I try to go to a new site, I end up doing a search on bing. More hits for the, intended or not.
The point I was making was that it is so obvious the President has something to hide, that we don't need to prove it. The facts are there. You can willfully remain ignorant and deny the fact that the Benghazi cover up sticks worst than a rotting fish, that's your choice. Since, all the links and proof in the world won't change the mind of someone like you who has sworn their loyalty to Obama, regardless of what he does or who he gets killed. Why should I waste my time.
If I were a lawyer, yes, then I would have to find proof of evidence against the President. However I am not, but I guarantee there are plenty of people at work gathering all that evidence you so desperately want (but chose to ignore), and if the President gets re-elected it won't be long until there is a trial. And at that point the news will report all the evidence straight to you, in the manner you prefer to receive your information (Spoon fed).
But until then, go ahead and blindly follow him. You weren't the one surrounded by a ferocious mob, begging your own people to save you. Your own people who had all the means, to help and save you, but were ordered to "Stand Down." Those men didn't have to die, but they did. That is the problem! And no one. NO ONE has been held accountable for their deaths.
@Commonsense-Lisa: I'll have 4 truckloads of generators headed up there tomorrow. Coming out of the Savannah area. Right now, looks like we'll be putting 'em somewhere close to Quakertown, Pa. They are being ordered from everywhere. FEMA will find 'em. Just hold on. Don't anyone dare a thank you to me. I'm nothing. The drivers of those trucks are good caring men. Much better men than I could ever be. Commonsense, I heard your pride of your Son there. I love it! Lisa, hang in there! My best to all of you!
John,
So you have no credible evidence, you're, by it's very definition, ASSUMING. You're right, you don't need to prove it, but then NO ONE NEEDS TO BELIEVE YOU and you DON'T get to claim it as "truth".
Then why can't you post a link to them?
Or, I can look at what we ACTUALLY know and NOT what you're simply ASSUMING. Slanderous, much?
No, they really will, just point some out for me please.
Or, you know, if you wanted to be seen as honest and credible regardless of what profession you practice.
How can I ignore something that you can't even show me has been provided yet?
I stopped buying the whole, "Because I said so" thing when I was like three. I don't mean to be rude, but that post was pretty much pathetic. It pretty much boiled down to...
"I don't need evidence! I just know! And you're stupid because you don't blindly believe something!"
Tell you what. I don't have any evidence that vegetarian vampires live in Washington state. But I know, that something just doesn't seem right out there in those forests. And you're ignorant for not believing what I tell you and ignoring the evidence I've already admitted I don't have.
Addendum to #1.98: No votes! Please! This was a message. Appreciate the vine for allowing me to do it. Thank you Newsvine!
Sarah, your in denial. Like I said, all the links in the world won't change your mind. I already know that. Those who have looked at the articles, have done some research on google (or bing), and have had an open mind about the incident plainly know that the President is horrendously guilty of gross negligence.
Those who know they are wrong keep asking for more and more proof no matter how much is offered. Like the kid who keeps asking why, after every answer you provide. It never ends. That's exactly how the liberal defense works. You want stupid links I can give you links, but not tonight because I got better things to do. Its not like I keep a list of links on hand for every single point I want to argue. But over the weekend I can spend all day collecting a thousands links if you want them. Fine you want to play this stupid game we can. I'll send them to you as well. But I know they will never change your mind. Your too gaga for our current President.
John,
How am I in denial, when you haven't even shown me anything I can deny?
Then it should be easy for you to provide some credible evidence to support your position. Why don't you?
Except you haven't offered any.
I know, us damn liberals, asking you to actually support your position and not just simply believing you.
And you obviously don't have THAT much to do, you've responded how many times? You could have just responded once, an hour ago with all those links you claim to have.
Please do. On Monday I'll come back to this thread and let everyone know you have and post them for everyone to see.
Or, more likely, you won't. In which case, I'll come back to the thread and ask you again.
Don't threaten me with a good time.
Don't threaten me with a good time
Wow.... Just wow.... I couldn't help but laugh.
This thread will be dead by Monday, they hardly last 6 hours. But I'll give you the links (That I never claimed to "have" In fact I said just the opposite.)
Its not like I keep a list of links on hand for every single point I want to argue
But I'm a man of my word. I'll give you the links. Looks like I just committed myself to several hours of wasted time this weekend to make a point to deaf ears. Good luck defending his failed policies.
Commonsense.
I know people who sent 18 Semi's to catrina with can goods, water, blankets, clothing etc. AS long as the materials are organized the people distributing them get them out very quickly.
Now, if you just drop off the stuff at the Red Cross, they have issues getting it transported.
Sarah -- It takes a special blind faith-type mindset to be a Republican these days. It all comes down to whether they're thinkers and leaders (Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans) or followers (TPers and conservative Republicans). The Republican party just attracts that sort of mindset and provides a group they can join where they feel comfortable in not having to think for themselves, and Limbaugh, Rove and the others are well aware of it and take full advantage of it. Most of them don't have proof of what they believe except that Limbaugh said it, so it must be true.
I don't like the political games Gov Christie plays, he is loud and rude, in my opinion, just to make a name for himself. But politically I have admired his handling of things in NJ, even if I don't necessarily agree. He has a backbone and he sticks with what he says. I admire that and I admire the way he is handling things now. He and the President both are earning respect for their handling of this tragedy.
John,
So you admit that you're believing something, posting it as the "truth" and calling other's ignorant for NOT accepting your word blindly, without a single iota of credible evidence???
Well, at least you admitted it.
I won't hold my breath. You haven't shown yourself to be very credible so far. And, yes, we WILL still be able to post here on Monday.
Can't wait.
In Agreement,
I don't mind so much that they personally BELIEVE something without any proof or way to back that belief up. It's when they present that BELIEF as FACT, and then spend an hour trying to talk their way out of proving their OWN point, that I can't help but poke them with sticks.
Oh no. I've read articles. I've seen evidence. I have learned for myself what our President is. Just cause I don't have all these links saved it doesn't mean I haven't seen the proof. but ya, keep intentionally mis-interpreting what I said. Thats a typical liberal tactic.
John,
You were the one that was talking about how easy Google is. Why didn't you just type whatever you typed in the Google bar, back into the Google bar and bring it up?
You could have done that, AND THEREBY PROVEN YOUR OWN CASE AND SHUT US ALL UP, about 100 times in the amount of time you've spent merely posting your "truth".
It would be way quicker then this, albeit entertaining, sparring match. I mean it was a fairly simple request.
CantAffordNoMore:: And Mutt couldn't answer a question that was asked of him multiple of times-- either 11 or 14 times-- and it wasn't a question that would have to have studies made.
John Doe, well then post it and link it if you want us to believe it!
And this ...
Wanting facts???? True that as of late ....
Well done, Sarah, well done.
keep intentionally mis-interpreting what I said. Thats a typical liberal tactic.
Layton = Derp.
CantAffordNoMore:: You were the one who made that comment about veterans, families of veterans don't trust President Obama? Speak for yourself. I am the daughter of TWO veterans, the widow of a veteran, the mother of a veteran, the mother-in-law of a veteran and the grandmother of an active duty military person. Your thoughts do not reflect the thoughts of others-- so keep your ideas to yourself. And I work among veterans four evenings a week and your thoughts do not reflect the thoughts of everyone I come in contact with. So keep your thoughts to yourself!
John Donut will you shut it?
YOU HAVE NO PROOF AND MAKING A CLAIM AGAINST SOMEONE WOULDN'T STAND UP IN A COURT OF LAW WITHOUT PROOF.
So stuff it.
When you HAVE EVIDENCE then show it and we'll judge the facts.
Here's one for you Donut.
See how that works? Same thing you're trying to say is PROOF.
Tell me you're smarter than that? Please??
This is what a weasel sounds like folks.
Must be some valuable intel for you to keep it such a secret then Johnny Donut.
John Doe-2241225 ...
Layton = Derp.
Ouch! That is such a tin-foil hat wearing statement. I'll take it and own it. I'm a Derp. Thank you for the compliment!
In the meantime I will restate that I am impressed by Governor Christie. He has shown more leadership as a Governor than Romney ever did.
Obama/Biden 2012
And that is relevant to the discussion because???
That says less about their viewers then it does anything about accuracy. You're not that stupid either I hope? That's doesn't prove anything. Smoking at one time was more popular then not smoking. That didn't mean smokers where smarter back then.
They're saying that if Fux News makes an accusation it's somehow true even when they can't prove facts.
Kind of a stupid premise isn't it?
Elliott - Your comments show that you have no knowledge of how Romney's term as Governor went. You say he work with Democrats, then why is it that none of them agree? He vetoed over 800 bills, which most were passed without him anyway. He vetoed a bill to send aid to people who were affected by the flooding in his state, he raised taxes on business to the point where MA. was the 7th most expensive state to do business in, he raised fees, his policies raised property taxes, unemployment went UP(contrary to what he will tell you)because business left and people followed, he was away from MA. for 417 days in a 4 year term, he wanted to make cuts to veterans benefits but was blocked. He doesn't have a stellar record as governor and left office with a 34% approval rating, down approx. 20 points from when he came into office.
This is what you are voting for.
I hope this is satire, but we all know Romney's got to be worried about the positive image projected by the unlikely team of Obama and Christie.
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2012/11/romney-seeing-him-with-chris-christie-is-tearing-me-apart.html
I can see it as being true. We all know Willard gets testy easy.
Let no good disaster go to waste.
Obama has done nothing accept talk... We will see what really happens when he is a lame duck on Nov 7th.
He talked during the Oil Spill
He talked during the Mid West floods
He talks and talks and talks... He says forget the red tape... yeah well I don't know any gov workers that will put their ass and job on the line by not following the red tape.... Talk and talks and talks...
Faux News is number one because we concentrate all the RWNJ in one place. The sane intelligent people have many REAL news choices, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, BBC, PBS, etc... we're just distributed.
We're happy to concentrate all the drooling idiots on one phoney news channel.
You're a pathetic hack. You need to shut up before you look worse.
bla, bla, bla it's true.... Ask some of the folks in the mid west what he did for them.... NOTHING
Ask the people in the Gulf what he did for them....Nothing
Let's see what he does for the East coasters..... All talk so far.
Better enjoy Facebook while you can.
A U.N.-sponsored conference next month in Dubai will propose new regulations and restrictions for the Internet, which critics say will censor free speech, levy tariffs on e-commerce.
Drill,
I'm from the mid-west. If personal opinion is all you need...
In the past four years...
1. After being laid off, I found a job.
2. My sister was able to go looking for a better one, because she wasn't hostage to her preexisting condition.
3. My grandparents once again have a home, after losing TWO.
4. I was able to tap FASFA and PLUS loans for another degree.
5. My mother received a raise so she could downsize from three jobs, down to two.
6. My brother-in-law was able to purchase a beautiful home.
If you want to ask people from the mid-west. Ask us.
As promised, here is the link, to John Doe's evidence...
http://JohnDoe2241225.newsvine.com/_news/2012/11/02/14870353-proof-of-the-lies
Now, if you actually take the time to click on each link, you'll see there to news stories about information we already have and statements we already all know Obama and his administration made.
Circular logic much, John? The links you posted are the statements and actions you claim were the lies and mishandling. Those same links you posted are also what you are using as evidence that those links you posted are lies. If you're accusing the administration of lying in those links, how do those same links prove the intent to mislead?
Wow.
That's logically the equivalent of this...
ME: I'm a tap dancer.
YOU: No you aren't.
ME: Prove I'm lying.
YOU: Sure. You said you were a tap dancer.
Chris Christie is AMERICA'S Governor!!!
Okay, let's not over embellish. He's doing a fine job for his state.
O&Joe 2012!
You would think Romney's 1% mega rich buddies would help in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, they rather give Millions and Millions to a lowlife like Romnesia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris Christie is Romney's number one surrogate. He stands for what is best for America. Take note!
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a Strong "United" States of America
They are my next year's Halloween costume!!!
Happy Halloween!
IT: fortunately, Gov. Christie more or less told Romney to stick it, he has a state to run that was just hit with a major disaster. You will NOT see Mitt Romney appearing in NJ.
America is finding out just how weak Mitt Romney would be as a leader.
I agree, dirp, and I think that is an underlying reason as to why Christie lashed out at him. He is seeing very clearly for himself that he is backing a loser with no morals. Say whatever you want about Christie, and many including myself do, he is definitely passionate about being the governor of NJ. I don't know everything he has or has not done in his state, but right now he is showing true leadership in the face of great adversity, and I think he also sees that in our president.
dirp and Alaska:
Source? Christie did not tell Romney to stick it! But, Bloomberg told Obama to.
Presidents should visit sites like New Jersey during a time like this, not a challenger. Romney's respect of the situation, does not mean there are issues between the Christie and Romney.
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a "bipartisan" United States of America
"Indep" - you keep saying R & R for a "United" States of America - R & R would NOT unite this country . . . even if they won, which they won't.
.
They are dividers . . . they have lied & lied & lied & lied, and have led 1,000's to despise them.
Romney dismissed 47% of us as not worthy of his attention - educated voters who are in that 47% will not feel in anyway led by him - he cannot unite the 47% or the 99%.
maybe he will unite the 1%.
Neither guy can even get their own states to vote for them.
People in Mass who were there when he was Gov despise him.
Voters in Lyin' Ryan's district hope he won't be elected to either of the offices he's running for.
.
They are not uniters, anymore than Dubya was, and saying it obviously didn't (& won't) make it so.
.
The majority can hardly wait until the 2 of them go away next week. We are counting the days.
.
O & JOE! forward!
So now all the teatards are glomming onto Christie like he's the actual candidate for Prez. How embarrasing for Romney/Ryan. R/R's best attribute is that Christie is a Republican! But they hate him for working with the president.
Lest we forget the Rethuglicans mantra for the past 3+ years: "the president must fail at all costs!"
KC:
As you saw, Christie stands for what is "RIGHT FOR AMERICA." He is Romney's number one surrogate. Just like in Christie has done for the New Jersey, he will help R/R do for the entire USA. No matter what you believe.
Romney/Ryan 2012 with Christie for a "Bipartisan" United States of America
Vand:
I am not a teatard, and Romney did ask Christie to be his running mate, but he is still working on turning around New Jersey. This said, Christie is in full support Romney. Youtube all of Christie's speeches.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Independent Thought - Bloomberg DID NOT tell the President to stick it. He said the President's visit to NJ would represent the entire area. He was polite. But, unlike Christie, he is panicked at maybe ticking off Romney - which is funny since Romney will be heading to the Caymans for a LONG stay after the election - maybe he'll just never come back!
Romney represents everything wrong with the Republican party. He's nothing but a cheap liar who cares for nothing and no one.
Obama/Biden 2012
SS:
Did you read the Atlantic last month?
Romney/Ryan 2012
I don't know that Bloomberg worries whether he is ticking off Romney or not. After all, he is an Independent, and one who has sided with president Obama on national issues. I agree that Romney probably will high tail it to visit his money in the Caymans and to work on a natural tan. Ann is not happy that he is getting a spray job, but Romney is probably happy to be getting any kind of job!
Independent Thought - what would last month's Atlantic have to do with yesterday's storm?
Obama/Biden 2012
I think we have to give Independent Crazy Thoughts a pass as I fear that he/she may be posting comments from a mental institution. Seriously.
Independent Thought - "Romney/Ryan with Christie for a "bipartisan" United States of America"
How can it be bi-partisan when you list all conservatives??? What makes for bipartisanship is working together and that means both (all) sides. It does not mean refusing to work with the President and then complaining that the President is not working with you. See Tea Party.....
Really?
Source for this please?
Meanwhile, here is what Mayor Bloomberg said for those interested in the truth;
Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/83082.html#ixzz2Av7W9qwc
You could of fooled us? lol
Again, I request a source for your claim...
You like to talk a lot of @!$%#, about time you start backing some of it up, sweetie!
The Koch Brothers could give some money to the "victims" Heck NO!!!! They only give to Mitt Romney because he has promised TO GIVE THEM BACK THE COUNTRY!!!!!
Where is Adelson now, AND 'THE GENEROUS' Ann ROmney?? Why can't she donate 1 million of 'chump Change or one of her Cadillacs to the victims???
BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL TALK!!!!!!
Feisty:
As far as I know, it is the first time, that a President was rejected to attend a situation like this. Personal? Probably.
OK, must take the kidlits for trick-or-treats. Happy Halloween!
Romney/Ryan with Christie for a bipartisan "sweet" presidency
Right! Because it would be very sweet to only afford to eat twinkies every day, living in a cardboard box of "Little Debbie"cakes.
Sorry sweetie, you accused Mayor Bloomberg of telling the President to "stick it"! Show us where in his statement he told the President to stick it?
In other words, you can not back up your claims, so I'm gonna tuck tail and run! lol
Oh Feisty:
Snickers or Babe Ruth?
The original Lib poster said that "Christie told Romney to stick it." Not true. My response was actually an Obama rejection, in similar words, I did not say "Stick it."
Aren't you the master of slippery language?
Romney/Ryan 2012 SWEETIE!
Now, I must tuck tail and run, to be with my children.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Just like the creepy Giuliani, "Americas Mayor". Laughable.
@Independent Thought:
I realize that this video is linked from the Huffington Post ... but it's a video from Fox and Friends where Christie appeared.
http://www.ask.blinkx.com/watch-video/chris-christie-slams-fox-news-for-election-question/dszpjvHNUA2JP0zNpVE-5w
Wow what a flip flop for Obama... When the deep water horizon was spewing oil the A-hole didn't say or do crap for almost a month. Funny what people will do when your job is on the line.
The real funny thing is when Christy had him up in the chopper looking at the NJ beaches, they went over one beach and a huge "ROMNEY" was carved in the sand... LOL
By the way.... This sure is a flip flop for Obama when the mid west was flooded 2 years ago... Obama is just sweating his job.
Romney gave his tour bus to help evacuate, told donors to give to the red-cross... Spent tens of thousands on ON SITE provisions... You know you fools say he bought stuff the cross didn't want? Well look what the red cross did with the last massive chunck of cash during katrina and 9-11... the squandered it. Romney gave DIRECT aid to the people in the streets. When your F'n hungry now that is when the food does good.
You peopel are F'n crazy to talk crap! What have YOU DONE?
Keep in mind... Obama didn't ask Christy if he needed help.... He asked to tour and politic in NY City first... Bloomburg told Obama he didn't need him disturbing his town and told Obama to ask Christy instead.
The problem that people don't realize is the amount of resources it takes to host a prez -- states that face a devastating event are already in the hole for $$$ and man hours, then the prez breezes in and manpower and $$$ has to be diverted to host the prez and secret service, etc. So while it looks nice in a photo op there isn't anything a prez can do except tsk tsk, shake hands, and promise FEMA and government agencies (which they are entitled to anyway since a state of emergency was declared). Otherwise all he's done is divert valuable man power and state money that could be used for the people in the inflicted areas. No matter who is the prez.
Have you even watched the news or did you read the article? Christy said that Obama called him several times asking what he could do for them. He said how glad he was that the president was there for them when they needed help. Wow...you really need to at least take a cursory glance at the article you're commenting on.
I read the whole thing... Riddle me this: With days in advance what did Obama do with Fed assistance to secure facilities and evacuations? nada....
Army Corps of engineers come in and start sand bagging? oh hell no.
Did Obama start relief efforts towards the states from other states? Nope....
he just watched the whole thing go down...
Obama hates white people.
Drill "Obama hates white people"
Sure he does, he hates half of his family, he also controls hurricanes and can read the minds of all the people in the US to know what help they need and when. You complained that all the president does is talk..... what should a president do, plug holes in ships?, Use a roll of paper towels to sop up oil? You obviously know nothing about leadership, motivation, or management. When Bush stood on the pile of rubble at the WTC and made his speech did you complain that he was just talking? I suppose he should have been picking up rubble instead of wasting all that time talking.
I see that Governor Christie really became a man who cared much more about his state than politics. He knew how vital it is for the federal government and his state government to work together to accomplish the work that must be done for all the people in New Jersey. This is necessary in any disaster of this type. I see Christie as a bully and ruthlessly mean, but he is standing strong for his state and that is commendable.
Romnesia doesn't care about the Hurricane Victims, all Mitt cares about is his lying Jeep ads !!!
Where is Paul Ryan and his "pristine apron" that he was using for the photo op when he was at a soup kitchen??
they are just a bunch of LIERS and OPPORTUNISTIC a***s THAT WANT TO PROFIT FROM US!!!!!!
Irespond-2315268#3.2: Somewhere fluffing panties and thinking about playing with Himself.
I've only seen Christie when he is being the unreasonable bully. And that's been disparaging. Seeing him step up and put his people first makes me wish he would come over from the dark side. It's really not so bad over here...
Don't get me wrong, I am glad that President Obama seems to be involved with helping those who lost so much due to Sandy, but it is hard for me to believe him when he says no one will be left behind after the way he handled Benghazi. The facts about the terrorist attack in Benghazi are clear, even if MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN... will not carry it.
Remember that when you go to the poll. This administration will not leave you behind when things are easy, when all they have to do is throw money at the problem, but the going gets tough, you are on your own.
back to your hole, bill
"UN"Patriotic -- Romney not helping the hurricane victims -- Gee believe it was him holding a fundraiser and food drive. And for all you nitwits that talk about people losing their homes and without power what are they going to do with the food -- HELLO not EVERYONE lost their house and when the power comes on (which in some places it has) those people will need FOOD, water, etc. You all complain that BO doesn't get credit but when Romney does ANYTHING it's never good enough for you lib trolls. Shame on you, hypocrites!
Really nice to watch people that we elect, actually doing their job ... Too bad it takes the ocean to remind us that we all in it together..
I guess this dispels the Conservative "myth" that President Obama can't/won't work in a bipartisan manner in the best interest of Americans. I think this also proves that some Federal Agencies, when managed correctly (see how they've been handled by Obama vs. George W. Bush with Katrina) actually work. If the relief efforts were delegated to the State level, how do you possibly think they could have been accomplished? They barely even had electricity...They need military assistance, like from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Coast Guard, and the National Guard; and this is over a multi-State region, affecting millions of Americans.
Perhaps Mitt Romney can specifically tell all of us how HIS ADMINISTRATION would have handled this crisis had he been in office this past week, and how he plans on preparing for, and paying for, future disasters.
Glenn:
I think Romney will handle it just fine, as he has guys like Christie on his team.
Romney/Ryan 2012 for a Strong America
He can't!
Team Willard has him on radio silence hoping to run out the clock...
@ Independent Crazy Thought:
LOL
O&Joe 2012
There WILL be 4 more4 44!
How would Mythe react....."He'll get back to you"....
GNOP - we don't need no fact checkers...GNOP CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
C'mon Mythe - show us the 1040's..What ARE you hiding?!!
Romney told us what he would do during the Republican primaries. Instead of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) we would have Financed Emergency Management, Incorporated (FEMI) a subsidiary of Bain Capitol. Both would still take your tax dollars, but with FEMI, Romney would make a profit (at a 0% capitol gains tax rate) and if you didn't call FEMI in advance, too bad to you, you should have known better.
Christie obviously sees the value in working with the President now, when, perhaps, he didn't not so long ago, and it was quite "refreshing" to hear him "spank" Fox News when they tried to get him to invite Mitt Romney to also visit with him during this crisis and he basically told them he didn't "give a damn" about any of that.
He isn't willing to be Mitt Romney's "stooge" now; why do you think he'll feel any different once he realizes Romney just tried to use him for his own benefit when his State and citizens were in crisis?
Glenn:
That is a complete spin, and you know it.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Gleen
MVoMitt Robus doesn't care about 47 % of us IN HIS OWN WORDS
VoMitt and Lyin Ryan who don't believe the Federal Government should help any one but the 1% would let them all die
The only Myth this dispells is that Obama has done nothing accept talk...
"That won’t necessarily stop
observersus from searching for political implications in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, especially so close to Nov. 6."Chris Christie is one of the few GOPers willing to call out the crazies in his party ( remember how he stood up for the nomination of a judge who was Muslim). If we had a few more Christie's, the 2 parties might be able to work together to help fix the country's problems, rather than trying to just make the other party look bad. I admire Christie for being able to put aside partisanship and admit the President is actually doing something good. hats off to him.
I would never vote for him, but I too remember him standing up for that judge nomination. That shows that for all his bluster, Christie can be an honorable person. Romney--never. The man is a chronic and serial liar.
I am not a Christie supporter per se and I am certainly not a Mitt supporter. But, you have to hand it to the President and the Governor - they worked together to do a GREAT job dealing with this horrible event. It does make me wonder what the country would be like if we could manage this more often. I am wondering what will become of the canned good Mitt collected - the Red Cross specifically say NOT to send food items -?
Mimzy47
So the president can work with members from the other party?
The Canned goods was a Joke - just like RobMeHood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be great if a Democrat would do the same thing.......oh, forget it, they already left the party.
OK... Where does it says that Obama is a Republican? OR YOU DID NOT READ THE HEADLINE OF THIS ARTICLE????
When people work together remarkable things can be accomplished.
Good-bye Mittens. We won't miss you and your lying one bit. Good riddance to bad rubbish. And don't forget to take Mr. Selfish Paul Ryan with you down the drain.
Life goes on with out Romnesia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What we really want is to get rid of Obamanisms up Liberals legs that lead to strokes!!! That would explain all the liberal sheepish comments on this post!!!!
Take several doses of truth each day, and stay away from Fox News. This bout of Romnesia should be completely gone by next Wednesday morning at the latest.
Obama/Biden 2012 - Romney/Ryan 1040
For the love of heaven, would you ReichWingers please learn to spell and punctuate? Is it true that conservatives are dumber than liberals? It would seem so.

Says the pot to the kettle.
For God's sake, would you ReichWingers please learn to spell and punctuate? Or is it true that conservatives are just a lot dumber than liberals?
"Sloppy language is indicative of sloppy thought." --George Orwell
You are a boob !! How's that?
Shouldn't your name be William Dehning ? And shouldn't it be "For the love of Heaven, would you.... ?"
TOOK OBAMA 50 DAYS TO GET TO THE BP OIL SPILL...........

You sir are full of @!$%# ! Obama was in contact with bp in the first 10 hrs and that is on the record just as Candy Crowell would say you are a lair ! Real quick fact checker here ! Working hard to protect the truth !
Proof please!
Lets see some proof of some of your outrageous, unfounded and unintelligent comments..
And it was Republicans who were defending BP's lack of attention to this disaster! You are so full of @!$%#.
stay -
You noticed that too? I think the only reason that Obama stuck around and didn't go campaigning during Sandy is that he couldn't get permission to fly AF1 during the storm.
Romney's Priorities 1% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well........... someone has to pay for and cover the 47 percent.....

Early voting has Obama up nearly 2 to 1 in every state. Enjoy your robot Wrongme while you can. He'll soon go back to his haggard wife and car elevators, and we'll get back to work.
Just Barak-ula sucking the lifes-blood out of the United States or what is left of it.
If we had a Romney presidency, he would have told Governor Christie "Good Luck!" because Mitt stated he would get rid of FEMA and return control of disaster response to the states. WOW, Mitt, that's what we call community!! Just eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and let each state struggle when they're already drowning... good thinking. And, this is what Republicans want in the White House??!! Thank GOD for FEMA - we should be grateful for President OBAMA and Governor Christie behaving like professionals and concerned human beings. I think we need to keep FEMA, Re-elect Obama and see if Governor Christie is up for another term... but, let's take care of our storm victims first! Send Mitt on a one-way cruise to the Caymans and let's get America back on track!
BTW Mitt, we all know you are LYING about those General Motor jobs going over to China - BIG LIE! GM spokesman Greg Martin stated "We've clearly entered some parallel universe during these last few days. No amount of campaign politics at its cynical worst will diminish our record of creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country."
Per the Detroit News, a GM Email to employees from CEO Marchionne stated "I feel obliged to unambiguously restate our position: Jeep production will not be moved from the United States to China... Jeep assembly lines will remain in operation in the United States and will constitute the backbone of the brand. It is inaccurate to suggest anything different."
Just sayin...
When we are lied to by a sitting president, that takes precedence over political rhetoric. Obama has been lying and stonewalling Congress and the American public about Bengahzi and when any of us speak up on MSNBC about it, our post dissapear. MSNBC will not carry any of the news about Senators and Congessmen demanding answers and the stonewalling that is going on. Shame on you MSNBC!
bull@!$%#ters! all of them!
Geez, Paul, get off the soapbox. I have seen plenty of you spewing your guts out about Benghazi, and hey, if you are going to rant at least spell the GD name right! I haven't seen any posts disappearing. You people are such extreme conspiracy theorists. Get over it. It's an ongoing investigation! I didn't hear any of you ranting and raving when 9/11(the first) happened. I didn't hear any of you going off about how long it took to actually get information about that. Just knock it off. You are trying to create something out of nothing when you don't even have any of the facts, unless of course you have the ultimate security clearance that would allow you to see evidence that has yet to be released. Nut jobs!
paul
I know it has been a Long year for you dear, but you really need to settle down. I worry about you after mittins has lost his 8 year long bid for a real job. But dear, you know full well Lies are Never the way.

Wow...this really was the perfect storm.....OBAMA/BIDEN !!!!
Agreed - Obama/Biden has been a complete disaster.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Good one, you must have seen that on The Colbert Report.
Just in Governor Christy has said he doesn't have time for Mitt Romney to visit and doesn't give a dam about politics ! Besides what can Romney do ? He wants a leader with the power to act now !
Actually if Mitt went there his FLIP FLOPPING at a high rate of speed may help dry things out......
cowboy - okay, that was cute!
Obama/Biden 2012
Holy Smoley... is Christie obese or what? I would never vote for him, I'd be afraid he'd die in office of heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes (or a combination thereof).
Geez, I really do like Christie, I'm from Philly and he's been good for New Jersey. He's got a brain and he uses it, but not when it comes to his weight. While it is true you can be healthy and be overweight, it is never healthy to be morbidly obese-which he is.
Barack and Chrissy sitting in a tree K I S S I N G....first comes love then comes marriage and then comes 53% of the country voting for OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 !!!....that leaves Mitt that magic 47% that he always talked about....
LIE: I’m going to fix the nation. He killed bin Laden and several dozen al Qaeda leaders and built the pyramids of Egypt. He saved the auto industry from collapse and built the Great Wall of China. Check if he had a hand in winning the Revolutionary War. Gas prices will come down if he and pals stop the bomb-Iran blabber. Pinocchio will create 500,000 jobs/month. What with? Bushanomics that‘s cost 10 million jobs? Now he's going to fix the economy with Paul Ryan's budget and deep cuts to the Rich Tax. His math sucks. Rather, he's going to accelerate the Debt clock, lose millions of jobs, and sink us the way of Greece. Romney a liar? “Yes,”
While Obama plays politics, Gov. Christie shows us why the Republicans are the only adults running in this election.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Good one, you must have seen that on The Daily Show.
UNINSTALLING OBAMA..... ████████████████▒ 99% complete
AMERICANS DIED AND OBAMA LIED!
SuperSport - OOOOOOH System Failure. You'll need to reboot - Obama/Biden for 4 more years!
Obama/Biden 2012
Yawn... wake me up when you can play with the adults.
SuperSport:: And what is it that you call what your savior George Bush did to our military? He got us into TWO wars-- UNFUNDED wars at that-- and his reason was non-existant WMDs. Let's see-- how many THOUSANDS of our boys were killed? No, it was Bush and Cheney who LIED and they are still dying in the big sandbox.
lame
If Christy was really a Romney/Ryan conservative, he would keep everything at the state level and keep that bloated federal gubment out of his state, pull himself up by his bootstraps, cut taxes on the rich, and wait until all that prosperity magically fixes everything! Funny how fast repubs change their tunes when something like this happens. As usual, the federal government works best when people who believe in it's true purpose are running it the way it's supposed to. He knows where all of the relief money will be coming from.
It always amazes me that people elect Republicans at all. Why would you ever elect people to positions of authority in your government, who don't believe government works? Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy wouldn't you think?
I'm pretty sure that's why Bush appointed "Brownie" as head of FEMA. It appears he got what he wished for.
Ol_Doc
We need Dems, without them we would have dumb things like....$$$$
Governor Christie understands one very important point; "When a catastrophic event destroys a significant portion of your state, the money and support to rebuildmust come from other states". Ask the people in Missouri, Indiana, Texas, California, Colorado, and FEMA. What we are witnessing is a Republican (the Head of FEMA) and a Republican Governor working with a Democrat President to get a job done. I think the Republicans in the US House and Senate stepped on their proverbial "dicks" blocking the Black Guy from becoming the POTUS for another term. Strange, the October Surprise actually came from Mother Nature.
