Biden unloads -- again -- on Romney car ad

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Promising to give a Sarasota audience "the whole load" of his GOP criticism, Vice President Joe Biden unloaded a barrage of derision Wednesday over a Romney campaign ad alleging that American automakers are planning to move manufacturing overseas to China.

Calling the Jeep ad "one of the most flagrantly dishonest ads I can ever remember in my political career," Biden called the allegation - which has been widely disputed by fact checkers and by the auto companies themselves - "an outrageous lie."

"All my time I have never heard an American corporation in the waning hours of the campaign engage with that kind of description of what a presidential candidate's doing," Biden said after quoting a General Motors statement calling the Romney ad "campaign politics at its cynical worst."

Responding to Biden's criticism, Romney adviser Kevin Madden said "We've got an ad out that we believe makes the case for why Gov. Romney would be stronger for the auto industry and why the auto industry's an important part of a strong economy. They've got an ad that they're using to make their case to the public, and we'll leave that with voters."

In Sarasota, Biden claimed that auto workers in Ohio have been frightened about losing their jobs because of the ad, calling United Auto Workers representatives to ask if its allegations are true.

"Folks, the president's job is not to show confusion," he said. "It's to plant the seeds of confidence."

The vice president's remarks to a crowd of over a thousand came 1100 miles away from the rust belt cities where the Romney ad is on the air, emphasizing how strongly the Obama team hopes to push back against the commercial and make its claims into a character issue for Romney. President Barack Obama is not on the campaign trail today, traveling in New Jersey with GOP governor Chris Christie to survey damage from SuperStorm Sandy.

In Ohio, new Romney radio Ads build on previous lies about Chrysler Jeep, claiming that Chrysler is shifting American jobs to China. And corporations are fighting back.

FACT: Chrysler is ADDING jobs in America, NOT SHIFTING jobs overseas. Two thousand more jobs are planned for Ohio.

Chrysler has called Romney out on his "fantasies", but Romney in his unconsciousness, absence of truth and immorality, continues to lie to Ohioans and this nation. He has based his presidential run on a series of BIG lies, and they are catching up with him.

Romney says he favors abortions in cases where it makes people vote for him.

KETTERING, Ohio (The Borowitz Report

Hitting the campaign trail one day after the arrival of Superstorm Sandy, Republican nominee Mitt Romney tweaked his position on abortion today, saying he now supports it in cases where it makes people vote for him.

“I would make an exception for abortion in cases where the life of my campaign is at stake,” he told a crowd in Kettering, Ohio.

Sandy, which slammed into the East Coast last night, was such a powerful weather system that it prevented Mr. Romney from changing his position on abortion for twenty-four hours.

“It was important for Mitt to come up with a new position on abortion today,” said his campaign manager, Matt Rhoades. “It sends a message to the American people that in the aftermath of Sandy, things are getting back to normal.”

Mr. Romney made no reference to his comments about eliminating FEMA, which have been declared a disaster area.

Is he saying the only way to make the case for Romney is to LIE?

Basically the Romney campaign is saying:

"We've got an ad out that lies about the auto industry and the auto bailout, because if we tell the truth we will lose Ohio and the election. President Obama has an ad that truthfully makes their case to the public. We are betting the voters won't be able to tell the difference, and we can scare them into voting for us by mentioning 'Italians' and 'China'."

Updated as of 3:50pm EST on Wednesday, October 31 (Happy Halloween!):

Real Clear Politics (RCP) is consistently cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.

RCP continues to consider the following eleven states, listed in descending order of electoral votes, as "toss-up": Florida (FL), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Michigan (MI), North Carolina (NC),Virginia (VA), Colorado (CO), Wisconsin (WI), Iowa IO), Nevada (NV) and New Hampshire (NH).

With only 129 hours left in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in seven of the toss-ups, Romney leads in three, and in CO the candidates remain in a tie.

In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged numbers from RCP as of 3:50pm EST together with the most recent FiveThirtyEight election night probabilities of victory for either candidate:

.

In PA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 4.6%, down slightly from yesterday's 4.7%.

Nonetheless, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 95.4% chance of winning PA, up from yesterday's 94.2%.

.

In MI, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 3.0%, down from yesterday's 4.0%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 97.9% chance of winning MI, down slightly from yesterday's 98.1%.

.

In NV, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 2.4%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 82.8% chance of winning NV, up significantly from yesterday's 79.7%.

.

In OH, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.4%, up from yesterday's 2.1%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 77.6% chance of winning OH, up significantly from yesterday's 73.3%.

.

In WI, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 2.3%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 88.1% chance of winning WI, up significantly from yesterday's 85.7%.

.

In NH, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 2.0%.

However, FiveThirtyEight gives Obama a 75.4% chance of winning NH, up significantly from yesterday's 70.3%.

.

In IO, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 2.3%.

However, FiveThirtyEight gives Obama a 74.4% chance of winning IO, up from yesterday's 73.9%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In CO, with 9 electoral votes, the race remains tied.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 60.7% chance of winning CO, up significantly from yesterday's 55.4%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In VA, with 13 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 0.5%, up from yesterday's tie.

However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 61.8% chance of winning VA, up significantly from yesterday's 57.8%.

.

In FL, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 1.3%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney a 59.3% chance of winning FL, down significantly from yesterday's 64.7%.

.

In NC, with 15 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 3.3%, up from yesterday's 3.0%.

FiveThirtyEight gives Romney an 82.0% chance of winning NC, up from yesterday's 81.4%.

.

All in all, while Romney's position in toss-up state polling has improved more than Obama's over the past 48 hours, his chances of winning in the majority of these states has declined. This is a function of Romney losing his race against the clock in PA, MI, NH, and IO in that the rate at which he is tugging at Obama's lead in these toss-ups is not fast enough to swing the state decidedly into his column by election day itself.

At the same time, in the state where Romney needs desperately to win, OH, Obama's lead has been widening over the past two days; conversely, in the state where Romney needs desperately to hold onto his lead, FL, that lead has been eroding over the same period.

So...

In order for Obama to win re-election, the least complex route appears to be through maintaining his current lead in the five toss-up states where his existing margins are widest, PA, MI, NV, OH, and WI. Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 271. In this scenario, Obama could still surpass 270 while failing to hold either IO or NH.

However, should Obama fail to hold OH, the loss could effectively be neutralized by any of the following combination of wins from states where FiveThirtyEight is currently predicting Obama victories:

Path #1: Obama loses OH but wins IO, NH, and CO resulting in 272 electoral votes.

Path #2: Obama loses OH but wins VA and NH resulting in 270 electoral votes.

Path #3: Obama loses OH but wins VA and IO resulting in 272 electoral votes.

Path #4: Obama loses OH but wins VA and CO resulting in 275 electoral votes.

With Romney's lead having diminished significantly in FL over the past two weeks and with Hurricane Sandy forcefully highlighting the stark contrast between Obama and Romney regarding the value and necessity if not the mere existence of FEMA in a state which has perhaps the greatest dependence on federal storm relief efforts in the country, a 5th path has suddenly appeared on the horizon which could provide for some interesting election night television:

Path #5: Obama loses OH, IO, NH, and WI while failing to capture VA and CO but comes from behind to steal FL resulting in 272 electoral votes.

.

It should be noted regarding Paths #1 and #2 that there remains some question as to the accuracy of the RCP polling numbers in NH which still include in their average a recent 'outlier' finding from UNH which had Obama leading by a questionable 9.0%.

For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to hold the three states in which he presently leads, FL, NC, and VA bringing his electoral vote total to 248, but also steal a victory in CO where his lead fell from 0.4% on Friday to that of dead heat and in OH where Obama's lead this morning rose to 2.4%. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total would reach 275.

Should Romney take CO and VA but fail to take OH, he could overcome this shortfall by stealing WI and either IO or NH, resulting respectively in an electoral vote total of 273 or 271.

In either scenario, however, Romney must hold FL at all costs.

FiveThirtyEight, at present, estimates the chance of Election Day victory for each candidate as follows: Obama 77.4% - Romney 22.6%. FiveThirtyEight also projects that on Election Day the final electoral tally will be as follows: Obama 299 - Romney 239. Lastly, although it makes no difference in terms of the final result which can only be determined by the Electoral College, FiveThirtyEight currently predicts a national popular vote distribution on Election Day as follows: Obama 50.4% - Romney 48.5%.

With only 129 hours of campaigning left, this one is going to come down to the wire….and quite possibly, in a few of the closest toss-up states, to the October jobs report which because of Hurricane Sandy may be delayed from a scheduled Friday release to the following Monday, one day before the election.

Let's hope that Election Day is free of both voter fraud and voter intimidation and that eligible voters who have registered in good faith over the past six months are in fact able to vote on November 6; let's also hope that vote tabulation itself is performed honestly and accurately by both the election commissions and private corporations to whom this essential role is being entrusted.

In any case, it will be interesting to watch as election night unfolds.

Typically, Biden supported by his Obama zombies screeching about Romney's lies are directed at the stupid and gullible that believe only what they want to believe.

Consider the following:

The Washington Post Fact Checker has declared that Mitt Romney's television ad about Jeep production being moved overseas, which has "hurt" the "feelings" of the Obama campaign and the left, is "factually defensible" and "technically correct."

It says that Chrysler, Jeep's parent, was sold "to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China." That is 100% correct, and has been since 2010, as Tony Lee pointed out yesterday. It is also true that "Fact checkers confirm that [Obama's] attacks on Mitt Romney [on the auto bailout] are false" and that Romney "is supported by Lee Iacocca and the Detroit News."

All this from the Washington Post no less. What's this world coming to?

Of course it is, Romney is an outrageous liar.

Romney can't even begin to compete with President Obama, so Romeny is literally forced to lie.

Republicans don't care how much Romney lies, heck, they still believe it was Iraq that attacked us on 9/11.

If Romney were to tell the truth, he'd only fall further behind, and Romney really doesn't have any chance of winning as it is.

Fiat is planning to produce jeeps in China. Each jeep built in China as a jeep not built in the USA. China has no national minimum wage. Provincial minimum wages are around $200 per month. The Chinese can build jeeps in China for a small fraction of what it costs to build them in the USA because of dirt cheap labor. Building jeeps in China does not help our trade deficit problem. One can foresee that in the future, Fiat, may decide to curtail jeep production in the USA in favor of importing them from China.

Wet Willy -

That quote is a Breitbart misrepresentation about the Washington Post Fact CHecker. The Washington Post Fact Checker gave the Romney ad "Four pinocchios".

This ad shows that we have entered the final, desperate week of the campaign.

The series of statements in the ad individually may be technically correct, but the overall message of the ad is clearly misleading — especially since it appears to have been designed to piggyback off of Romney’s gross misstatement that Chrysler was moving Ohio factory jobs to China.

It is also especially strange that the ad touts Romney’s endorsement by the Detroit News, when the editorial actually backs up Obama’s criticism of Romney’s response to the auto industry crisis. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/4-pinocchios-for-mitt-romneys-misleading-ad-on-chrysler-and-china/2012/10/29/2a153a04-21d7-11e2-ac85-e669876c6a24_blog.html

PolitiFact gave the ad a "Pants on Fire" rating.

Our ruling

The Romney campaign ad says Obama "sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China" at the cost of American jobs. The ad leaves the clear impression that Jeeps built in China come at the expense of American workers.

The ad miscasts the government’s role in Fiat’s acquisition of Chrysler, and it misrepresents the outcome. Chrysler’s owners had been trying to sell to Italy-based Fiat before Obama took office. The ad ignores the return of American jobs to Chrysler Jeep plants in the United States, and it presents the manufacture of Jeeps in China as a threat, rather than an opportunity to sell cars made in China to Chinese consumers. It strings together facts in a way that presents an wholly inaccurate picture.

We rate the statement Pants on Fire!

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/oct/30/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-obama-chrysler-sold-italians-china-ame/

As for the Detroit News endorsement of Romney, did you Republicans actually read it?

Don’t assume that it was a no-brainer for a conservative newspaper to endorse a conservative presidential candidate. We recognize and are grateful for the extraordinary contribution President Obama made to Michigan in leading the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler. Had either of those companies been allowed to go under, Michigan’s economic maladies would have become fatal.

The president stepped up with the support the two automakers needed to keep themselves and their suppliers in business. We have said in past editorials that while Romney rightly advocated for structured bankruptcies in his infamous “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” New York Times op-ed, he was wrong in suggesting the automakers could have found operating capital in the private markets. In that article, Romney suggested government-backed loans to keep the companies afloat post bankruptcy. But what GM and Chrysler needed were bridge loans to get them through the process, and the private credit markets were unwilling to provide them. Obama put a rescue team to work and they were true to the task.

We have criticized Obama in past editorials for rewriting bankruptcy law on the fly to hold harmless his supporters in the United Auto Workers union. Still, Michigan is better off today because of Obama’s leadership on this issue. - Detroit News editorial

We can all believe in Obama because our "eye candy" President has this all well in hand. The "rich" will gladly pay for everything. There is now total transparency in the federal government and the nation has been brought together through hope and change. Our President has no problems in getting things done in congress because of the success of his reaching across the isle. GITMO is still closed and the stimulus has completely solved all of our unemployment problems. The 2012 federal deficit was less than 229.27 billion dollars as promised. We are now at peace with everyone in the world and all or our troops will be home before the end of 2014 and by 2015 we will start paying off the national debt. I am sure that everyone has figured out what they are going to do with all that money they have been saving on health care costs. We can all go on vacations using the new green energy, high speed rail system that was built via those stimulus funded shovel ready jobs. I am sure that everyone is looking forward to watching the President and my congressman go over the health care bill, "line by line", on C-SPAN as the President has promised. All hail the Chief!

Gerald Ford stumbled when getting off Air Force 1, once. So everyone (starting w/SNL) started portraying him as a "stumbler," as a fool . . . SNL had him falling all over the place every weekend.

.

Everyone forgot that he had been a superb athlete, college football, etc. They turned that one stumble/gaffe into the only thing people thought about (OK, so he also pardoned Nixon & some were angry about that, too . . . )

.

Joe Biden is a great guy. His constituents in Delaware LOVE him! He has a great voting record; he has worked, bipartisanly, throughout his career.

.

Now, the Rethuglicans only want us to think of him as a 'gaffe machine.'

Ridiculous. Biden is MUCH MUCH more than a few gaffes. Don't let the Rethuglicans reduce him to a gaffe.

.

O & JOE, 2012, MYTH ROBME, 1040'S!!! (because it's a fact that he lied on his Mass taxes, and for sure he lied on his Fed taxes!)

Seems that under Obama, GM has been able to expand its manufacturing in China, making Obama a major outsourcer of Jobs with your money.

Ironic, since she only reminded voters the IL Circuit Court had to garnish old Joe's Congressional salary for back child support...

1) Italians now own Jeep.

2) They are opening factories in China.

Its funny to hear Biden talk about lying, when he had to resign from his own campaign for lying too much back in the day. That was of course after the media blew the lid off of his horrendously dishonest campaign.

HeReigns: if GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Ford, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Fiat all make more cars in China than in their "home" countries, does that make them Chinese car companies ?

When a company puts production in another country and PUTS more production in the US, it is not outsourcing. Outsourcing is when a US based manufacturer closes its US production facilities and sends the production facilities to the other country. If you want to know about outsourcing, look up the Bain Owned Sensata. They are literally requiring the people at the Illinois plant to train their Chinese replacements and then shipping all of the production equipment to China. Mitt Romney should know what real outsourcing is, the company he founded made billions by pioneering the practice.

The only way the US will be able to defeat outsourcing in the near term is to make it SO expensive to do and to import the products to the US that it is more profitable to keep production here.

#1.54 - Wed Oct 31, 2012 4:59 PM EDT

Steve-446003, Just to touch on some of your supposed examples of lies, let's look at a few.

"What we did is we saved $716 billion and put it back -- applied it to Medicare."

If I have $100 to shop for groceries, and by taking advantage of sales at various stores and using coupons I can cut my spending down by 30-40%, I can then take the money I saved and purchase more groceries than I otherwise wouldn't have been able to. I don't have to cut anything off my list and I can get more for the same amount of spending. Being that most Americans apply this same logic to their own personal finances, I don't see why this concept seems so foreign to the right.

"It came from this man voting to put two wars on a credit card...I was there. I voted against him."

Well, Mr. Ryan sure did vote for the two wars, and Bush's Rx plan, and his tax cuts. And had no way to pay for any of it. Bush financed the two wars under emergency spending. He never calculated any of the costs in to the budget or deficit spending. When Obama came into office he put those costs on the books and everyone on the right freaked out talking about this huge increase in spending. In actuality, this money had been spent in years prior to his presidency. And as with Bush's tax cuts, this is spending carried over from the Bush administration, and it's spending that the GOP have fought to continue for the last 4 years.

"No, they are not four years closer to a nuclear weapon."

What progression have they made? I could make the case in 20 years that Iran is 20 years closer to building a nuclear weapon. But with time being used as the only factor, not capabilities, how honest is that argument?

"The congressman here cut embassy security in his budget by $300 million below what we asked for."

Mr. Ryan did vote to cut funding for embassy security. It's part of the congressional record. Don't even know where you want to start arguing that fact!?

"You know, I heard that death panel argument from Sarah Palin. It seems that every vice presidential debate, I hear this kind of stuff about panels."

Americans have been dealing with death panels for years already, and the GOP have supported them. They're called health insurance companies. Remember those guys who willingly took your payments, but denied coverage and even terminated your coverage when you became ill? The panel created by Obamacare doesn't/can't legislate anything. They look for more ways to cut overall cost and increase effectiveness for the distribution of health care. Their suggestions are forwarded to congress who must pass any of the suggested changes.

"Just let the taxes expire like they’re supposed to on those millionaires."

Maybe you're not familiar with the Bush tax BREAKS, but they came with an expiration date. Right-wing reasoning at the time was that even though these tax breaks wouldn't be sustainable permanently, they would spur job growth in the short term. Well, that didn't happen. And now they want them to be permanent when our economy is still getting over taking a devastating blow (before Obama came into the white house). In the stock market crash of the 20's it took 25 years before the market regained all the ground lost. In less than 4 years under Obama the stock market has surpassed it's levels before this crash.

Throwing around baseless criticisms of Obama may be good for right-wing morale, but facts are facts. Republicans might consider using them if they could find any that supported their arguments. But I guess cheerleading with mindless catch phrases works just as well for them, and you.

Remember the "you didn't build that" lie which was taken totally out of context, his first lie? He's still running that ad also. Mitt and his Republican pundits and super PACs will say or do just about anything to mislead the voters for which they've already tried to suppress and make it so much more difficult to register and to actually vote with ID's required, shortened early voting, and registration forms tossed in the trash if Democrat. Heya Mr. Biden: What are you and Mr. Obama doing to do when Government Motors asks for ANOTHER BAILOUT ?

  1. The American taxpayers still own about 28% of GM stock.
  2. The Secretary of the Treasury indicated recently that $ 25,000,000,000 still owed to the American taxpayers will be LOST.
  3. However, that didn't stop GM from giving out bonuses to their UNION WORKERS. A UAW official told members that eligible members of unions representing Government Motors would be receiving a $1,000 bonus (reported 6 June 2012).
  4. Government Motors currently is mired in pension/health care debt at the tune of $ 134,000,000,000 to Union retirees and is trying to "offset" the debt by giving retiring Union workers LUMP SUM offers. Sort of sounds like UPS.
  5. Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Treasury was instrumental in TERMINATING about 20,000 NON-Union Delphi employee's pensions.
  6. Recent profits have fallen 41% because of "slow" European sales.
  7. Government Motors recently announced the company was LOSING ABOUT $ 39,000 for EVERY VOLT SOLD.

Yep, Mr. Obama saved the auto industry.

Guess which company is in the #2 spot behind Government Electric in shipping jobs overseas ? You guessed it ......... GOVERNMENT MOTORS.

No car company exports cars to a region to sell them, the always manufacture then in the regions they will be sold in. This is a fact and all car companies do this for the most part. However Jeep Wrangler's are exported from the USA to other nations and the factories that makes those cars that are exported are in Ohio.

Making more Jeeps in America will only create a surplus in America and will not be exported to China because of the dirty tricks China uses to discourage imports to them.

Previous work: Global Strategy Group, Media Matters, Obama for America, Center for American Progress, and The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

Typical Psaki rant: Jennifer Psaki, Obama's new traveling press secretary, called Fox News' Brett Baier "a lunatic" and threatened to put "dead fish in the fox cubby" during a spat between the White House and Fox News in October 2009.

http://freebeacon.com/tag/jennifer-psaki/

Wait a dad gum minute......now I wonder who was releasing all that classified information from the White House circle:

  1. Disclosed details of the Navy SEAL team that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and collaborating sensitive information with Bollywood to produce a movie of the attack.
  2. Disclosed U.S. cyber warfare against Iran' nuclear facility.
  3. Disclosed procedures and "hit list" for targeting militants for drone attacks.
  4. Disclosed existence of a double agent who penetrated a militant group in Yemen.
  5. Disclosed airfield to be used by Israel for possible Iran nuclear facility attack.

Ido, Jerry, or whatever your name is, Re: #1.67

Just because you cut and paste blog posts, all by the same guy, all over the social networks doesn't make any of it true.

Funny how you like this particular posting, I'm guessing they are all you. Want to come clean?

1&2. Not accurate, The current government holdings in 500 million shares of stock (26%), at current prices have a market value of almost $13 billion. So if the unloaded it all, worst case has them losing $12 billion, not $25 billion. Secondly, although Geithner has stated that they don't want to hold the stock for the long term, there is no necessity to sell it. Most likely, over time they will sell off some blocks of shares and they may take some losses on those shares but it is unlikely they will sell any before next year. GM's stock price has been on the rise, ~$26/share in recent days. They are cash rich and profitable. Latest profit figures beat Wall Street estimates ans sales numbers for October are up 11%. Net worth of all assets is about $40 biilion. The fact is that China would be very much interested in a 26% share, particularly with GM's current Chinese involvement. People in the know are buying GM stock, if you were smart, you would too.

3. God knows where you got that number from, (maybe some little article from one of the UAW locals?), but regardless, GM employees have received profit sharing bonuses. They are entirely entitled to these. When they re-negotiated their contract at the bankruptcy, they gave up huge dollars in wages, benefits and work rules. Part of that trade off included profit sharing bonuses. What is wrong with that? The employees share in the risk when a portion of their compensation is based on profit making performance. In fact this is exactly what most businesses try to achieve, a compensation package that is directly tied to performance.

4. First off you are dead wrong, this was not for Union workers but for about 44,000 of the retired salaried employees. About a third of those accepted the buyouts. GM should have the deal wrapped up this week and will shift the remainder of the salaried pension funds over to private management, Prudential. This will reduce their pension obligation by almost $30 billion. About $3 billion better than expected. The buyout is a good thing for GM and not necessarily a bad thing for the retirees. The switch over to private management has similar impacts. The only potential danger to retirees is the viability of Prudential and possible loss of PCBG guarantees. But the bottom line is that Prudential will make money out of this too. Prudential has far more flexibility with their assets than a company pension plan does. Other big companies have been doing this for a long time. GM has stated that in the future they will try to negotiate similar deals with Union employees. But even if they don't, this change has made a huge positive impact on pension liabilities.

5. Well, it isn't anywhere that simple. First off the "claim" is being made by a Republican Congressman from Michigan attacking Obama for "lack of transparency. Bottom line is the Delphi deal is far more complex than you might imagine. GM no longer owned Delphi and at the time it was in control of a big hedge fund. That hedge fund, know the importance of Delphi to the auto industry, held GM, Chrysler and the US government hostage. They had already slashed pensions and underfunded them. Non-Union employees were Delphi's obligation and not the governments. However as a part of the deal, the PBGC took over pensions. Arguably, the non-Union guys could have been left high and dry. I ask you to take the time to read this rather long article that details a complete investigation into the Delphi deal. It was published in the Nation, but before you disregard it, understand the investigation was not done by the Nation. The reason the Nation published it is because they made a link between the hedge funds and none other than Mitt Romney who ended up making money off the deal. You can choose not to believe all the speculation about Romney, but follow the story mainly about Delphi and do your own research. You will find it to be accurate. http://www.thenation.com/article/170644/mitt-romneys-bailout-bonanza#

6. Old news an inaccurate. Numbers just released reported a $1.48 billion quarterly profit for GM despite European losses of $478 million. Not surprising as Europe sucks right now. Ford lost $468 million on European losses too, while producing similar overall profits of $1.6 billion. Likewise Chrysler profits rose 80% for the quarter on North American sales. For all three companies North American profits were the biggest contributor while the Asian markets were also positive for Ford and GM with GM getting significantly more there than Ford. South America was also profitable for GM too. Bottom line is that the American auto industry is doing pretty well.

7. Pure BS. For one thing, GM made no such announcement. That info came from a report of "super analysts" at Reuters. Bottom line is these dumb as"analysts" spread the total Volt development costs across the amount of vehicles sold so far. Totally wrong. In fact development costs are spread across the life of the entire model program. Former CEO Bob Lutz made mince meat out of the analysis. He contends that the first generation Volt program is headed for a break even if not slightly profitable return over its life. Not at all uncommon for an entirely new platform. He said the next generation will take advantage of a large part of the current Volt's development costs making it profitable right out of the box. GM official statements were consistent with Lutz's comments although not quite as angrily stated. As Lutz described it, the Reuters analysis was like spending $10 million on a building and then when it only made $1 million in rent the first year, you call it a $9 million loss. Most "automotive analysts" are idiots, people not smart enough to have jobs in the industry.

But your last statement is correct, Obama did save the auto industry.

Now if you wish to share where you got this from and/or provide back-up links supporting your claims, I'd be glad to look at them, but you can't because none of it is true. (except the part about Obama saving the auto industry.

WHY DIDN'T PRESIDENT OBAMA REINSTATE THOSE US LAWS THAT MADE ILLEGAL THE CAUSES OF PREVIOUS DEPRESSIONS. That Resulted in the current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion Global Economic Crisis consisting of the Mortgage Crisis, Wall Street Crisis, Financial Crisis, Banking Crisis, Credit Crisis, etc.. That he blames on President Bush as "inherited" when Bush did not eliminate those US Laws.

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA SPEND $2.1 TRILLION THAT WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY BUDGETED FOR, REQUIRING THE CURRENT CUTS TO PREVIOUSLY BUDGET PROGRAMS, PROJECTS, AGENCIES, INCLUDING THE ENTITLEMENTS, BENEFITS FOR THE "47%" THAT NEED THESE BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS. PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PRESIDENT'S PROPOSAL TO US CONGRESS DEMANDING CUTS.

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA AND SECRETARY OF DEFENSE LEON PENETTA, 2012, STATE, "A 10% Defense Budget Cut will result in a Million (US) Civilians becoming Unemployed". Yet President Obama in his President's Proposal to US Congress demand a Defense Budget Cut of 11%.

WHAT US LAW DID PRESIDENT OBAMA VIOLATE THAT IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO THE US PRESIDENT. AN IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE. As an admittance of Guilt SOS Clinton on Behalf of President Obama appologized to US Congress, "I'm sorry".

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA DEMAND THE OVERTHROW OF A FORMER US ALLY AND SUPPORTED THE FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC JIHADISTS TO OVERTHROW THE FORMER US ALLY. Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. that became Ansar Al Sharia to protect and instate Fundamentalist Islamic Shia (Sharia) Law as the Rule of Law for Libya. Now Ansar Al Sharia is attacking the rest of Africa, like Mali, as Egypt was Strategic to attack Libya, Libya is Strategic to attack the rest of Africa.

The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group was killing US Military at Iraq. The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group due to President Obama is the current Government of Libya.

WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT WITHDRAWING FROM IRAQ. WHEN IN FACT THE FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC SHIA REPUBLIC OF IRAN HAD THE US KICKED OUT OF THE ISLAMIC SHIA NATION OF IRAQ. Result now the Chinese and Russian Federation Allies of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran got the Iraqis Oil that could have paid for the US And US Allies Liberation of Iraq with Decades to Centuries of Iraqis Oil. This made Libya's Oil of Strategic Importance to the US Europrean Allies.

WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT THE US MILITARY WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ. Numbers of Actual US Military still at Iraq.

WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT THE US INVOLVEMENT AT SYRIA.

WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA TAKING CREDIT FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS PREPLANNED LONG AGO AFTER PRESIDENT BUSH AMMENDED THE US NO ASSASSINATION POLICY, 2006, TO ALLOW THE TERMINATION OF OSAMA BIN LADEN. With the Mission to Locate and Capture Osama Bin Laden already put into motion since 2006. And failing Capture to gain all of Osama Bin Laden's planning and thought processes as imprinted on his Al Quada, to preemptively interdict all Al Quada International Francishes activities Worldwide. Failing Capture of this "High Valued Target" as the Last Resort the Termination of Osama Bin Laden, as a Mission Failure. President Obama just happened to be in Office while the CIA, Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations Command was doing the above since 2006.

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA IN HIS 2012 STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS BACKPEDDAL ON HIS APRIL 2009 ORDERED DEFENSE BUDGET CUT OF THE USN (One Aircraft Carrier Strike Group). And why did he tell the US Public a Half Truth (actually a lie) that the USN Enterprise Aircraft Carrier will be decommissioned and scrapped after the current mission, long before the replacement CVN-80 is ready to replace CVN-65, if sea trials are successful 2015.

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA BACKPEDAL ON HIS OPPOSITION TO THE PRESIDENT BUSH US ABM MISSILES AT EASTERN EUROPE AGAINST THE IRANIAN MISSILE THREAT. President Obama stated there was no Iranian Missile Threat. December 2011 President Obama as Commander In Chief Ordered the deployment of US Military ABM Missile Batteries to Romania.

And his Buddy, "Mr. Corporate America" admitted that President Obama did while getting the US Supreme Court to Rule in Favor of the Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions before the Citizens United case made it's way thru the US Courts; so that President Obama could get his Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions from the Insurance Corporations, Medical Device Corporations, and Pharmaceuticals Corporations.

WHY DID PRESIDENT OBAMA CHOP THE PAYMENTS TO CAREGIVERS TO SENIOR CITIZENS UNDER MEDICARE, AND DECREASE MEDICARE PAYMENTS TO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. Instead of what he stated was the REAL Problem with Medicare, during his Face the Nation Interview, that the Insurance Corporations that manage Medicare are overcharging US Taxpayers by 14% to make Profits of $17 Billion to $18 Billion per year.

    1NewDay

Below are some references. You have Internet access so you can find the TRUTH on the rest of the issues in my post.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Taxpayers will lose $ 23,000,000,000 to Government Motors BAILOUT. The Treasury Department estimates that taxpayers will lose $23 billion on the auto bailout. Sherk and co-author Todd Zywicki find that none of these losses came from saving jobs, but instead went to prop up the compensation of some of the most highly paid workers in America.

    2. Taxpayers own 500 million shares of Government Motors. So far, GM has paid back $23.1 billion to the U.S. Treasury, including $6.7 billion in loans, $13.5 billion in proceeds from GM's November 2010 IPO, and $2.1 billion worth of preferred shares it purchased from the government in December 2010. But taxpayers still own 500 million shares of GM stock, which at today's price, are worth $10 billion.

    3. Government Motors on verge of ANOTHER BAILOUT. Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It would need to get about $ 53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion worth of stock, and sitting on an unrealized loss of $16.4 billion.

    4. Government Motors employees to get $ 1,000 bonus (NOT REPORTED IN LIBERAL MEDIA). An official with the local United Auto Workers union told members in an email this week that eligible members of unions representing General Motors would be receiving a $1,000 bonus on Friday.

    5. Government Motors has $134,000,000,000 pension obligations on the books. It's the latest, and boldest, step to ease GM's massive pension burden. Chief Financial Officer Daniel Amman said the changes would erase $26 billion from GM's $134 billion worldwide pension obligation and "set the groundwork" for further actions.

      Untrue, untrue, untrue.....

Jeep had halted production in China in 2009. Jeeps are selling so well in America they are confident (again) about selling more Jeeps into China and are re-starting production there - which is the only way to access the Chinese market.

Chrysler issued a statement to that effect, a rare occurence in a presidential election, firmly denying that any North American production was being moved to China:

“Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.”

Rocco: technically you are correct, the ad does not say Jeep is closing down US production. It simply implies that the jobs are being outsourced to China. Worse than an outright lie, it is deceptive and manipulative. The overall effect of the ad is the same. Jeep itself found the ad to be a lie.

I'm hoping GM and Jeep ask Mitt Romney to explain that they are not closing down US production and they are not shipping the jobs to China.

Fortunately, for all except the perpetually stupid Republicans, most people see through Romney's lies and the ads work to reinforce the knowledge his inability to tell the truth or to have any position on any issue.

But, you libs jump your whole ideology of jobs, jobs, jobs and rubber stamp the idea. How about Fiat contemplating manufacturing in Italy for export to.................wait for it...........North America.

"To counter the severe slump in European sales, (Fiat CEO Sergio) Marchionne is considering building Chrysler models in Italy, including Jeeps, for export to North America. The Italian government is evaluating tax rebates on export goods to help Fiat. Marchionne may announce details of his plan as soon as Oct. 30, the people said."

Which man is BEST for ALL AMERICANS ? IT’S YOUR CHOICE!!

1.) One, who practices true Christianity with concern and compassion for all; or one, who cares for the 2% and to Hell with the 47%

2.) One, who demonstrates clarity and calmness; or one, who uses “FEAR TACTICS” to create confusion?

3.) One that demonstrates morality and integrity; or one that demonstrates greed and concerns for the 2% wealthy elite while expressing that he doesn’t care about the 47%?

4.) One that shows respect the women and provide them with their choice of appropriate healthcare; or one that backs a candidate (Murdock), who claims RAPE and PREGNACY are "GOD’S INTENTION" as-well-as a "GIFT FROM GOD", or one (Akin), who wants to legitimize (Akin) the rape of women and children?

5.) One, who clearly DOES NOT suffer from amnesia; or a CHAMELEON with changing colors on the hour by the hour depending on where he is and telling them what they want to hear in order to get their votes?

6.) One, who puts a NATIONAL DISASTER FIRST and CAMPAIGNING LAST as-well-as visiting the areas of calamity; or one lacking in personal character, whose main concern was to campaign in Ohio (a critical electoral State) on Tues. (as the storm still continues to wreak havoc) while doing this under the guise of helping the victims with the planned opportunity for a “POLITICAL PHOTO OP” as he packs a few boxes which the Red Cross has expressed donations be given in the form of money, since they know what is actually needed and can get it there faster?

7.) One, who has visited the storm area immediately; or one, who is too busy campaigning on the trail and has yet to visit the disaster area?

8.) One, who demonstrates CHARACTER, HONESTY, and CONCERN for ALL; or one, who doesn’t care about the 47%, too busy attending expensive fund raising dinner events, and refuses to show his tax reports (when other candidates--to include Obama-- who has shown 10 or more tax reports)?

9.) One, who encourages investing in America; or one, with off shore accounts, and as the acting President for the Board of Trustees and Investment Member is currently sending a company, Asentia (not sure of spelling), overseas to China for sweat-shop wages (less than $1.00 per hr.)?

10.) One, who wants realistic benefits; or one, who wants to eliminate all entitlements, and replace some with vouchers to invest in often very unstable stock markets. If you lose with the investment, there goes your healthcare, because it’s your loss?

11.) One, who wants to reform the taxes, eliminate the loopholes, and make the wealthy elite pay more of their fair share of taxes; or one, who wants the wealthy to have even bigger tax breaks , because they need the money to hire workers, which they have not done during the Great Recession, but do have billions to spend on Campaign Ads ??

Get out and vote like your job and life depend on the Right Choice!!

Don’t let the corporate bosses threaten, or intimidate you with a job loss if you don’t vote for the Republican Choice. Help take America back from the elitist control by pressuring for reforms!!

Vote a straight Democratic ticket across the Board!!

Vote Obama/Biden, who care for 100% of America !!

Well it appears that the taxpayer bailed-out Chrysler is looking back and now considering cutting costs by shifting production of all Jeeps to China, which has a strong desire for Jeeps.

In a Bloomberg interview, Jeep's president said the automaker plans to restore Jeep production in China, suspended in 2009, and is considering making all Jeeps in China. "Fiat SpA, majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region," reported the business wire service.

Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia and president of the Jeep brand, told Bloomberg, "We're reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity" as well as "should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio" to China.

Chrysler builds Jeep SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Manley said the firm is in talks with China's Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.

        http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2511703#.UIlutq5eJ2K

Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.

Fiat is in “very detailed conversations” with its Chinese partner, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. (2238), about making Jeeps in the world’s largest auto market, said Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia. Chrysler hasn’t built Jeeps there since before Fiat took control in 2009.

        http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-21/fiat-says-china-may-build-all-jeep-models-as-suv-demand-climbs.html

In another potential blow for the president's Ohio reelection campaign, Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China.

Such a move would crash the economy in towns like Toledo, Ohio, where Jeeps are made and supplied, and rob the community of the economic security they thought Obama's auto bailout assured them.

        http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2012/10/25/chrysler_alive_but_jeep_about_to_shift_production_to_china

Michigan, 22 Oct. (AKI/Bloomberg) - Italian car gian Fiat, which controls the Chrysler Group plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.

“The volume opportunity for us is very significant,” Manley, who is also president of the Jeep brand, said in an interview at Chrysler’s Auburn Hills, Michigan, headquarters.

“We’re reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity” as well as “should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio.”

Chrysler, which entered an alliance with Turin, Italy-based Fiat as part of its US-government-backed bankruptcy, is relying on growth in China to counter weakness in Europe’s auto market. The carmaker is targeting 500,000 annual sales outside North America by 2014, more than triple its overseas deliveries in 2009.

          Rocco,

Anyone with two brain cells can see the ad for what it is. The fact that you are trying to defend it says more about you personally then the ad does about Romney. We already knew Romney was a blatant lair and manipulator. However we may not have known that about you so thanks for clearing the waters.

This ad from Romney is pathetic. He is so worried about losing that he has to resort to these types of petty tricks that are far beneath anyone who should be considered for President of the US. It just further hits home that Romney has never been fit to be the POTUS, he does not have the right type of character nor the right type of philosophy. Obama has also stolen Mitt's supposed momentum. RCP now has the race tied where it was +1 for Romney just the other day.

Tomorrow Obama should be either slightly ahead or up by at most 1.5 in RCP. Romney went too far with this ad and with his fake disaster relief event.

Another sure sign of a desperate failing, flailing campaign, Mike Huckabee telling voters that those who vote for Obama will go to Hell.

Well, the people who would seriously listen to Mike Huckabee aren't likely to vote for Obama anyway, so let's agree with the man and suggest that a vote for Romney also risks damnation, so they should select one of the third party candidates or stay home.

Only 1/4 of all Christians voted in the last presidential election. Christians need to turn out in this election and vote for the candidate/party that will best allow us to freely practice our faith. I think it's quite simple, if Christians turn out in this election our voices will be loudly heard as judgement is inevitable.

Hey HeReigns--do you really think that the office of the president can have any impact on the ability for anyone to worship the deity of their choice? It's protected by the First Amendment, which the Prez does not have the ability to change--only Congress, and only by expending a huge amount of effort. Bringing the ability to worship freely into the Presidential election is nothing but a canard, a distraction from the real issues of the economy, foreign policy, and personal liberties.

So Obama calls his buddy at Gubment Motors and asks him to dispute the fact the GM is building factories in China. If he doesn't do what his boss tells him, he's fired. No wonder Obama didn't sell all of the stock in Gubment Motors. He knew he might need a lackey to help in the camipaign.

What most of you probably fail to realize is that China has some very strict restrictions on products being imported into their country--they have huge tariffs which in some cases nearly double the cost of the product. If an Italian company wants to sell cars in China, their best bet is to do it in cooperation with a Chinese automaker, just like the Japanese and Big 3 have been doing for over a decade.

It's quite naive to think that we could make those vehicles in the U.S. and export them, because no one in China would be actually be able to afford one.

Ransom: which is what we should be doing to the Chinese products. Everyone complains "trade war", but ultimately, if we level the playing field through tariffs, the US would win.

Nearly 40% of the Chinese economy is based on exports and the US comprises about 20% of that. Thus, if trade with the US was reduced, the Chinese economy would contract, drastically. Simultaneously, much of that production would shift into the US, which would have increase production.

Yes, it would hurt some US manufacturers (who ship to China), however, the balance of trade 4:1 in favor of China right now, indicates that China will make adjustments faster than the US to keep its trade going. Also, any type of contraction would greatly hurt China more than the US.

There is no free or fair trade so long as the standards of living and working conditions in other are barely above slave labor.

BTW did you know that evangelical Christians in general considered birth control and abortion as fitting in with their beliefs until the most recent 3-4 decades? I hadn't realized that, it was an interesting read. Noteworthy quotes from religious publications about how the Bible clearly considers that live begins at birth and not at conception. Interesting how things change in the world of religion. Well except of course it always said what we think it says today....

I agree that the language used by bubba & JWLJ have twisted imaginations, however I wouldn't consider ripping a unborn anything out a living creature, much less a Human child,It really has nothing to do with evangelical's,it has to do with right and wrong and compassion and respect for its life,I don't believe government should be involved in the decisions of people's family and personal lives either,I don't pretend to have the answer, but everyone I know that has gone through with an abortion was young, scared and very vulnerable and took what they hoped would be something that would save them from throwing their life away,a quick fix to a lifelong impacting decision,I even helped talk a friend out of one,she still thanks me for just listening and talking about pros and cons of each choice,I wish people would start talking when young people need their peers and older people's experiences shared, mabe we could cut out the want for them altogether,I mean how many people want children and how many are killed everyday?

Why didn't they take all the money they donated to Super Pacs, they seem to have plenty, and create permanent good paying jobs. Jobs that pay well enough to raise a family on!

I've said for years now, if given the Holy Job Creators tax breaks so they could keep their billions would actually create jobs, every American would have a job and we'd be importing foreign workers to fill the rest!

This what you get when you have a man who is not running for the job of president but just for the title of president. A status symbol for him to flaunt amongst his money-grabbing, morally deprived cohorts.

Notice that Madden doesn't say that the ad is true---he just says it makes their case. It is a whole lot easier to make the case when you're not constrained by ethics and just tell lies. I think Mr. Madden will regret leaving this one to the voters--they are on to the Romney campaign's lies.

I sure hope so. I also hope journalists don't present Romney's fabrications as merely a "counterpoint" to the trurth, and simply expose the ads for the lies they are.

I am concerned that voters in Ohio might "buy in" to Romney's ads. Manufacturing was hit hard by the recession, and good news was hard to come by for quite awhile. Sometimes it is easier to believe the negative than feel positive about slow but steady growth.

The problem with your statement about being upto the voters, is that there seems to be a whole lot of Americans who don't care that our politicians lie. They accept it as the norm. If R wins then america deserves what happens. The problem with that is we have to suffer right along with them. I had this arguement with my own mother. She will not budge. I am completely baffled by this behavior. If we don't expect more from our elected officials then we are doomed to fail.

The Romneleon is now trying to change lies into truth--keep on repeating the lie long enough and eventually you'll believe it is the truth. He is also resurrecting the lie about "gutting" welfare reform, which has been repeatedly shown to not be the case. Romney needs to change his campaign theme song to this:

President Obama, Health Care it's for everyone!!! My administration will be the most transparent! I will create jobs! This will be done in my first administration.

People don't have the money for health care, the Government doesn't have the money the subsidize health care. You will pay a tax if you can't by it. Nothing needs to be said about the rest.

It is borrowed money we are spending now. So you just going to redistribute the borrowed money? How about that pay down the debt thing? You libs buy his crap hook, line, and sinker.

We haven't with drawn Afghanistan . We are not pulling out until 2014. Yes we need to budget military but not at the stupid rate we do now. we already spend more on the military than the next 10 countries combined.

Some new facts on Benghazi: The Benghazi Diplomatic Mission is at geodetic coordinates: 32° 3′ 40.8″ N, 20° 4′ 51.3″ E. The CIA annex is about a mile from the mission. Look up the area on Google Earth. You will see that there are hundreds of structures within a mile of the mission ranging from industrial to residential. On the night of the attack, at about midnight local, the terrorists found and attacked the annex with guns and mortars. That pretty much ruled out spontaneous demonstrators right then and there. And yet Obama continued to insist for two weeks that these were spontaneous demonstrations against an anti-Islamist film.

Were you this perturbed when it was revealed that there were no WMDs? Or when GWB insisted Sadam was buying yellow cake when he wasn't? Or when Colin Powell lied to the UN? Or when GWB declared misson accomplished? Didn't think so.

The point is, in the absence of even minimal response to warnings of Al Queda activites, do you think for a moment that the right wing insanity party would not have howled relentlessly about democratic failures? Where democrats stood behind the president, these far right radical animals would have clung to democratic failures for a decade. 4 dead in Benghazi? Whoa, That's ripe for at least 5 years of whining and hand wringing. (What would Obama be expected to do?) 4000 dead? Not a peep. Hypocrisy. Plan and simple.

Why stop there? Washington KNEW what the Culpers had on Madison! When will that come out!

Going "that path" is what every couple on the way to splitsville has done since time began. Maybe some of the people involved actually came here when President's Carter, Reagan, and Bush were in office. In the world most of you live in here, "the buck stops", with "them". And you don't seem to care how far back you have to go to "prove" it was the other guy's FAULT.

President Bush was President when we were attacked on 9/11/2001. It was a horrible tragedy. He did not cause it. Perhaps there was something that the GOVERNMENT could have done to prevent it, but that ship has sailed.

Pick a date to start assigning blame from and you'll be headed back to the Culper Ring...

What is it about liberals where EVERYTHING that goes wrong under Obama is Bush's fault even when it had nothing to do with Bush????? The facts are clear, even if MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN... will not carry it.

                      1. After the Benghazi Consolate came under attack by a terrorist force, the State Department was watching the attack "real time" and were providing the White House with regular emails to the Situation Room.
                      2. Security forces that were about a mile away requested authority to go to the Consolate's aid, but were given direction to "stand down"
                      3. Military personnel were about an hour away, but were told to "stand down" and never allowed to provide assistance, because it was not worth the risk.
                      4. Two members of the security forces that were about a mile away went against orders and went to the Consolate on foot and saved about 30 lives.
                      5. They requested the military aid that was ready to go, but not allowed to.
                      6. Four Americans died as a result of that failure to act.
                      7. When President Obama said that "we leave no one behind", he clearly was not talking about the four Americans he left behind to die in Benghazi, because saving them was not worth the risk.

Remember that when you go to the poll. This administration will not leave you behind when things are easy, when all they have to do is throw money at the problem, but the going gets tough, you are on your own.

                      Capt. Smash asks:

Do righties hate Obama so mush they vote for someone so dishonest?

Yes, Cap, that appears to be the case. Recently I posted a challenge a half-dozen or so times in these pages, asking the mindless minions of the Right to give me just one single example of a position or belief on which Romney has been consistent throughout his entire public career; just one principle that he's never once disavowed or contradicted. I find it both telling and predictable that the only response I got was from a guy who cried that I was being rude and insulting in my language ( because it's well-known that Republican voters never do that sort of thing!).

It's very sad and downright discouraging to reflect that so many Americans have been so thoroughly brainwashed and steeped in mindless hatred that they'll vote for a man without having the slightest idea what he truly stands for or believes... but that's how it obviously is. Res ipsa loquitor.

Stay tuned for some inane and moronic response/attack from a wrong-winger in which Benghazi will be the only point of contention... because it's the only thing they've got left.

Plumb-Tired up and ready to go (watch "Covert Affairs" on USA channel...)

PRINCETON, NJ -- Key Gallup indicators of voter turnout, collected prior to superstorm Sandy, suggest voter turnout will fall short of what it was in 2004 and 2008. U.S. registered voters report giving less thought to the election, and are less likely to rate their chance of voting as a "10" on a 10-point scale, than in 2004 and 2008, two higher-turnout elections. However, the 2012 figures are higher than in 1996 and 2000, two lower-turnout elections.

                      http://www.gallup.com/poll/158435/voter-turnout-likely-fall-short-2004-2008.aspx

                      --------------------------------------------------------------------------

More ads mean less excitement and lower turnout, just like those consultants said when they were taking the candidates money..

Considering how much that have both blown ( a mere BILLION) in this campaign , and the low percentage return, how can anyone say either man is their choice to manage an economy?

If both sides are correct then everyone is royalty screwed and therein lies the answer … Royalty, a benign benevolent Monarchy. Now, Seeking... if we're talking about the alleged 'leadership' of the Forces of Darkness, then no, it's pretty obvious that they sold their souls dirt- cheap a long time ago.

The above-mentioned rank-and-file, however, can still win theirs back! It'll take a while to purge all of the lying and toxic hatred out of them that's been so diligently cultivated by FOX Entertainment, among others; but we believe that there is a spark of good in everybody, however much they may deny it.

If we did not believe that, why, we'd be voting Republican too!

By the way, I love watching you draw your sword and march into battle against the Forces of Darkness; you have the kind of pugilistic spirit our side needs a lot more of. Give 'em Hell, Seeking!

Don't wmen own small businesses, manage hedge funds, executive officers in banks, clerks, police officers, armed forces, etc, etc, etc?

But all the Democartic party sees in the female vote is BIRTH CONTROL? And one they have the office, they will IGNORE you again, just like when you lost you virginity and the BUM never called you again.....

"Folks, the president's job is not to show confusion," he said. "It's to plant the seeds of confidence."

The President's administration said that the action in Libya was not a terrorist attack. That is not the way it happened.

The President said that he would bring the country together. That did not happen.

The President said that his administration would be transparent. That has not happened.

The President said that he would solve problems in Washington by reaching across the isle. That did not happen.

The President said that he would go over the health care bill, "line by line" with my congressman on CSPAN. That did not happen.

The President said that if the stimulus bill were passed that our unemployment problems would be solved. That did not happen.

The President said that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first administration. That did not happen.

The President's economic plan for the next 4 years is mathematically impossible.

I estimate that the money that the federal government is borrowing today is going to end up costing the tax payers 10 times the amount borrowed to repay over the next 180 years. in effect, paying 10 times the going rate for goods and services in not good management.

Our President has a major flaw. He says things that sound good at the time but turn out to be nothing but bs.

Well, you also seem inflamed by lies. So I wonder . . .

Were you this perturbed when it was discovered GWB ignored warnings about an attack on US soil (9/11)?

Were you this perturbed when it was revealed that there were no WMDs? Or when GWB insisted Sadam was buying yellow cake when he wasn't? Or when Colin Powell lied to the UN? Or when GWB declared mission accomplished? Didn't think so.

Were you troubled when Cheney outed a CIA operative? Or when Bush tanked the economy with unpaid for wars? Nah. Selective memory, eh?

You, too, should take your hypocrisy over to the FOX NEWs site. They appreciate your propaganda efforts. Or, are you one of R'Money's Mormon minions, urged by the church to wail every time your guy is revealed for the phony he is?

Bill Austin, thank you for reading my post and commenting. My post is not about Bush who is no longer in office. My concern is about the current administration and the very sorry state of our economy. Have you read the President's economic plan for the next 4 years. It is devoid of detail and budgetary information. According to the plan the President expects that the federal government will save more than 2 trillion dollars per year by bringing the troops home in 2014 which is mathematically impossible even if we decided to end all defense expenditures at that time. The President's plan is not really a plan, it is a wish list based on fantasy economics.

Hey Mickey, you bought Obama. Why can't we buy Romney. I think he really thinks before he speaks in the campaign mode. Unlike Obama who broke every promise he made in the campaign, Romney doesn't overload his ass with his mouth.

Guantanamo, deficit in half, unemployment rate under 6%, and the list goes on. You are truly one blind following sheep if you think your choice told you the truth. But then there is always the "we didn't know how bad it really was" excuse. At least Romney has a plan he plans to execute and will see the obstacles prior to implementation and adjust to bring it to fruition and not lose sight of it and blame the prior administration. Your guy, not so much.

Pat in Boston, Thanks for all of your informative posts. FYI here in Oregon, where a poll by the Oregonian came out yesterday showing Obama ahead by 6 points and putting Oregon "in play" according to some spinmeisters- there have been no Romney ads; I live in a fairly conservative area and there has not been one Romney lawn sign (unlike 4 years ago), no bumper stickers, and most Oregonians have already voted! We do have 160,000 Mormons and about 50,000 African-Americans so perhaps that is the explanation why the polling is so close. Mail in voting is a good thing-you vote early and ignore all the TV ads and throw away all the mailers.

Romney is absolutely shameless. And he doesn't seem to see it or care. The guy is a sociopath. Anyone who can publicly take two different positions two days in a row also shows enormous arrogance. It's been clear for years that the man will do anything to become President. He thinks so highly of himself that he feels entitled to it, no matter how he gets there .

And even more scary is the fact that every other candidate the Republicans were able to bring to the table were even scarier, Newt, Herman, Michelle, the cowpoke from Texus... Now that's really scary.

And the wife Ann with her "you people" comments (excuse me?? Who says "you people"?). How condescending she speaks toward the American people !

A Romney presidency would be known as "Revenge of the Investor Class".

Me thinks you are full of @!$%#! No one is sacrificing American lives. I also am a long time vet and know protocol. Stop reading your right winged blogs, emails and stop listing to Limbaugh, Beck and Savage. Your post is pure unadulterated stupidity.

I understand that several members of congress and The Woods Family are going to hold a news conference this weekend and demand answers before the election. This ought to outrage the liberal media, they may have to cover it or look like the twitts they are.. oh! Robert, you are the epitimy of stupid and I seriously doubt that you are "long time vet".. What is a "long time vet" anyway? And what war was it you served in? I am a Navy Vet - Viet Nam era.. been shot at and missed. It ain't no laughing matter to be in a fire fight and I don't cotton much to phony's like you..
