Independents' day: Romney looks to swing voters for salvation

The pre-election battle for perceived momentum extended Wednesday into a public dispute over whether President Barack Obama or Republican nominee Mitt Romney could claim an advantage with prized independent voters.

As a new series of battleground state polls emerged this morning -- showing Romney leading Obama among likely voters who identify as independents by 5 points in Florida, 6 points in Ohio and a whopping 21 points in Virginia -- Republicans argued the president's political arithmetic wasn't as sound as the Obama team contends.

At a campaign event in Tampa Bay, Florida, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney promotes a five-point plan for growing the economy.

Republicans on Wednesday morning circulated emails pointing out Obama's disadvantage among independents to call into question Obama's strength in several battleground states.

"We think that across the battleground state, we have a lead among independent voters," Obama senior adviser David Axelrod said on a conference call Wednesday with reporters in response. But, he added: "That's not true across every battleground state."

The Obama strategist did say, though, that the campaign believes the president is winning enough of the share of the independent vote to emerge victorious on Nov. 6.

In the final push in the 2012 presidential election, candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama make their last appeals to voters.

What follows is a look at the breakdown of the independent vote in 2004 and 2008 exit polls in arguably the three biggest battleground states, along with the share of the electorate made up by self-described independent voters. In October 2005, Then Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick used the death of Rosa Parks to look Mayorial. He was at the time losing his re-election bid to Freman Hendrix.

He showed up at the funeral, delivered a eulogy and made sure he was a big part of the story.

He went on to come back and win the Mayorial election a few weeks later and take the city of Detroit further into the abyss.

I fully expect the President to use Sandy to his best advantage. Detroit, errrr... Chicago, oh hell just any politics and all.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.....

How many Republicans switched their affiliation to "Independent" after the fiasco of GW Bush and the Tea Party extremism?

Just curious how the percentages have swung between the parties and amongst independents?

TNSEVOL---I had the same thought about the definition of "independent". A lot of people like myself have left the Republican party because it doesn't mirror their own values or make them feel comfortable but they may not have affiliated with the Democrats either. Those folks would most likely be easier to persuade to vote for Romney.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 49% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) remain undecided. See daily tracking history.

Sixteen percent (16%) of white Democrats now support Romney.

The race for Ohio’s Electoral College votes remains very close, but now Mitt Romney now has a two-point advantage.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Ohio Voters shows Romney with 50% support to President Obama’s 48%. One percent (1%) likes some other candidate, while another one percent (1%) remains undecided.

New surveying Monday night finds Romney ahead of the president 50% to 47% in the key swing state of Colorado.

In Wisconsin, surveying from Monday night finds the race remains tied at 49%, just like last week.

WCA-

It would be shocking to find a politician politicizing and politicking during a political campaign. I am sure if this shocking behavior ever actually occurs, it is limited to a single party and a single ideology.

Thank you for bringing this unusual and frankly stunning phenomenon to everyone's attention.

We are less than a week away to election day. Mitt is running for the most powerful position on earth.

And he won't talk to the media.

Mitt Romney's Self Imposed Gag Order

It's been nearly three weeks since Mitt Romney's last interview (if you count sitting down with Newsmax to be an interview) and it's been more than a month since he last answered a question from his traveling press pool.

Compare that with President Obama who in just the past two weeks has sat down for interviews with NBC's Brian Williams, at least seven local news stations, and the Des Moines Register editorial board. The president also took a question from a White House reporter following his Hurricane Sandy statement and agreed to interviews with The Tonight Show's Jay Leno, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart and MTV's Sway Calloway. And keep in mind that President Obama did all that even though he doesn't have the luxury of being able to make campaigning his full-time job.

Given the closeness of this race, you'd think Romney would take advantage of every opportunity available to him to get his message out, especially with President Obama making himself available. Instead, Romney's running from the media. So here's the question: What's Mitt afraid of?

Gallup yesterday shows Romney leading Obama in the early vote by a full seven points, 52-45%. Almost exactly four years ago (October 28, 2008), according to Gallup, Obama was massacring John McCain among early voters with a fifteen-point lead, 55-40%. That means, at least according to Gallup, that Obama's early vote advantage has dropped 22 points when compared to '08.

In the last three releases of the tracking poll conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News, Obama has trailed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney among independent voters by between 16 and 20 percentage points.

That's a striking reversal from 2008, when Obama won independent voters, who made up 29 percent of the electorate, by eight points over Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

"In the 11 swing states, Mitt Romney earns 50% of the vote to Obama's 46%. Two percent (2%) like another candidate in the race, and another two percent (2%) are undecided.

Romney has now led for 12 straight days with margins of four to six points most of that time.

In 2008, Obama won these states by a combined margin of 53% to 46%, virtually identical to his national margin."

"Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Romney and 48% say the same of Obama."

n 2008, the Democrats had a 39-29 (D+10) advantage in hard party ID, and a 54-42 (D+12) advantage with leaners. In 2012 though, we're in the post-TEA party era. Republicans now show a 36-35 (R+1) hard party ID advantage, and a 49-46 (R+3) lead with leaners. This gives us a range of party ID swings from 2008, from R+11 to R+15.

Updated as of 2:00pm EST on Wednesday, October 31 (Happy Halloween!):

Real Clear Politics (RCP) is consistently cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.

RCP continues to consider the following eleven states, listed in descending order of electoral votes, as "toss-up": Florida (FL), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Michigan (MI), North Carolina (NC),Virginia (VA), Colorado (CO), Wisconsin (WI), Iowa IO), Nevada (NV) and New Hampshire (NH).

With only 130 hours left in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in seven of the toss-ups, Romney leads in three, and in CO the candidates remain in a tie.

In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged numbers from RCP as of 2:00pm EST together with the most recent FiveThirtyEight election night probabilities of victory for either candidate:

.

In PA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 4.6%, down slightly from yesterday's 4.7%.

Nonetheless, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 95.4% chance of winning PA, up from yesterday's 94.2%.

.

In MI, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 3.0%, down from yesterday's 4.0%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 97.9% chance of winning MI, down slightly from yesterday's 98.1%.

.

In NV, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 2.4%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 82.8% chance of winning NV, up significantly from yesterday's 79.7%.

.

In OH, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead has risen to 2.4%, up from yesterday's 2.1%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 77.6% chance of winning OH, up significantly from yesterday's 73.3%.

.

In WI, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead is holding at 2.3%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama an 88.1% chance of winning WI, up significantly from yesterday's 85.7%.

.

In NH, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 2.0%.

However, FiveThirtyEight gives Obama a 75.4% chance of winning NH, up significantly from yesterday's 70.3%.

.

In IO, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 2.3%.

However, FiveThirtyEight gives Obama a 74.4% chance of winning IO, up from yesterday's 73.9%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In CO, with 9 electoral votes, the race remains tied.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 60.7% chance of winning CO, up significantly from yesterday's 55.4%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In VA, with 13 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 0.5%, up from yesterday's tie.

However, FiveThirtyEight currently gives Obama a 61.8% chance of winning VA, up significantly from yesterday's 57.8%.

.

In FL, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead has fallen to 1.0%, down from yesterday's 1.3%.

FiveThirtyEight currently gives Romney a 59.3% chance of winning FL, down significantly from yesterday's 64.7%.

.

In NC, with 15 electoral votes, Romney's lead has risen to 3.3%, up from yesterday's 3.0%.

FiveThirtyEight gives Romney an 82.0% chance of winning NC, up from yesterday's 81.4%.

.

All in all, while Romney's position in toss-up state polling has improved more than Obama's over the past 48 hours, his chances of winning in the majority of these states has declined. This is a function of Romney losing his race against the clock in PA, MI, NH, and IO, in that the rate at which he is tugging at Obama's lead in these states is not quick enough to swing the state into his column.

At the same time, in the state where Romney needs desperately to win, OH, Obama's lead has been widening over the past two days; conversely, in the state where Romney needs desperately to hold onto his lead, FL, that lead has been eroding over the same period.

So...

In order for Obama to win re-election, the least complex route appears to be through maintaining his current lead in the five toss-up states where his existing margins are widest, PA, MI, NV, OH, and WI. Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 271. In this scenario, Obama could still surpass 270 while failing to hold either IO or NH.

However, should Obama fail to hold OH, the loss could effectively be neutralized by any of the following combination of wins from states where FiveThirtyEight is currently predicting Obama victories:

Path #1: Obama loses OH but wins IO, NH, and CO resulting in 272 electoral votes.

Path #2: Obama loses OH but wins VA and NH resulting in 270 electoral votes.

Path #3: Obama loses OH but wins VA and IO resulting in 272 electoral votes.

Path #4: Obama loses OH but wins VA and CO resulting in 275 electoral votes.

With Romney's lead having diminished significantly in FL over the past two weeks and with Hurricane Sandy forcefully highlighting the stark contrast between Obama and Romney regarding the value, necessity, and mere existence of FEMA in a state which has perhaps the greatest dependence on federal storm relief efforts in the country, a 5th path has suddenly appeared on the horizon which could provide for some interesting election night television:

Path #5: Obama loses OH, IO, NH, and WI while failing to capture VA and CO but comes from behind to steal FL resulting in 272 electoral votes.

.

It should be noted regarding Paths #1 and #2 that there remains some question as to the accuracy of the RCP polling numbers in NH which still include in their average a recent 'outlier' finding from UNH which had Obama leading by a questionable 9.0%.

For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to hold the three states in which he presently leads, FL, NC, and VA bringing his electoral vote total to 248, but also steal a victory in CO where his lead fell from 0.4% on Friday to that of dead heat and in OH where Obama's lead this morning rose to 2.4%. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total would reach 275.

Should Romney take CO and VA but fail to take OH, he could overcome this shortfall by stealing WI and either IO or NH, resulting respectively in an electoral vote total of 273 or 271.

In either scenario, however, Romney must hold FL at all costs.

FiveThirtyEight, at present, estimates the chance of Election Day victory for each candidate as follows: Obama 77.4% - Romney 22.6%. FiveThirtyEight also projects that on Election Day the final electoral tally will be as follows: Obama 299 - Romney 239. Lastly, although it makes no difference in terms of the final result which can only be determined by the Electoral College, FiveThirtyEight currently predicts a national popular vote
distribution on Election Day as follows:
Obama 50.4% - Romney 48.5%.

With only 130 hours of campaigning left, this one is going to come down to the wire….and quite possibly, in a few of the closest toss-up states, to the October jobs report which because of Hurricane Sandy may be delayed from a scheduled Friday release to the following Monday, one day before the election.

Let's hope that Election Day is free of both voter fraud and voter intimidation and that eligible voters who have registered in good faith over the past six months are in fact able to vote on November 6; let's also hope that vote tabulation itself is performed honestly and accurately by both the election commissions and private corporations to whom this essential role is being entrusted.

In any case, it will be interesting to watch as election night unfolds.

This has been the strangest election coverage of my lifetime. . .

In every other election, the independent voters' votes were the Holy Grail. Their numbers were reported daily, and we were informed that whoever won independents, won election.

Not this year. Oddly, Romney has led this group pretty much throughout the campaign- independents no longer count. Instead, we are told it is. . .

Likability! Yep. Forget the the economy, jobs, Martian attacks- people ONLY vote for the candidate they like more. This meme was dropped only when Romney's like ability equalled Obama's, so we now have. . .

Hispanic voters! Yep. Whoever wins Hispanic voters wins elections! We are breathlessly informed that Obama has almost 70% of their votes! Neatly forgetting that George W. Bush getting about 30% of their votes was seen as unprecedented!

Little hint- David Axelrod is a political consultant- not a statistician, and as a prognositicator, a college freshman in a stat class would have very pointed questions about his demographic assumptions.

Too bad the media doesn't.

Karl Rove's Last Stand

From the article above:

The pre-election battle for perceived momentum extended Wednesday into a public dispute over whether President Barack Obama or Republican nominee Mitt Romney could claim an advantage with prized independent voters.

The key word here is "perceived".

Good old Karl 'Marx' Rove still showing his influenced over the Conservative controlled media in a last minute desperate attempt to cling onto an election that has slipped away.

Stephen Colbert did a hilarious segment a week ago that was repeated last night on how the only undecided voter was Jody Foster's "Nell" character.

That pretty much sums it up.

The perception that there is any swing or independent voters left at this point is a lie.

Both Chrysler and General Motors have sent scathing rebuttals debunking the Governor's latest lie about Jeep going to China.

Funny, how two big corporations that the Governor drools over are both calling him a liar.

President Obama doesn't even have to campaign at this point because he knows he will be re-elected on November 6th with over 300 Electoral Votes.

Ticked Off,

Gallup may have been the most accurate and trusted polling agency in Walter Cronkite's day, but no more.

Gallup today is but one of a dozen 'accurate' and 'trusted' polls, which is to say that their bias is less obvious than the Rasmussens and Gravis Marketings and WeAskAmericas.

Do you remember the scoring controversies in ice skating, gymnastics, and amateur boxing in the Olympic Games between 1968 and 1976? You know what I mean....where the Hungarian judge would give the Russian competitor an outlandishly high score just to dump on the American.

The IOC addressed that issue by creating an averaged formula which tossed the highest and lowest scores and combined the rest. Not a perfect system, to be sure, but closer to being a more fair system.

Well, Real Clear Politics kinda does the same thing. By averaging multiple reputable polls (that is to say not entirely discounted polls), they accomplish two things: First, the polling sample is broadened, which can ONLY be good, and second, the impact of 'outlier polls' is diminished, as it should be.

Don't be afraid of Real Clear Politics. While they respect Gallup enough to include their findings, they don't make the mistake of assigning them more value than their limited sampling deserves.

MOST. ACCURATE. POLL. DATA. *EVER*.

Nate Silver's blog at the NYT doesn't "cherry-pick" polls - we aggregates ALL (ie, 100%) of the polls . . . his goal is ACCURACY . . . he doesn't care who wins, he just wants to call it correctly, so he is non-partisan.

.

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

.

Last night he upped the odds of President Obama winning, dramatically:

President Obama now has a 77.4% chance of getting 299 Electoral College votes

His chances of willing OH: 77.6%

His chances of willing WISC: 88.1

His chances of willing VA: 62%

His chances of willing NH: 75.4

His chances of winning Mass: 100%

His chances of winning PA: 95.4

His chances of willing NEV: 83%

His chances of willing Colo: 61%

He will probably lose NC & FL, but it doesn't matter.

.

His chances of winning the popular vote: 75%

.

.

So all of the Rethuglican attempts to BUY the Vote, to do voter intimidation & suppression, to shut down early voting, to lie . . . . have COST Myth Robme & Lyin' Ryan any chance of winning this election.

.

A Vote for O & Joe is a vote AGAINST Citizen's United & the idea that voters can be BOUGHT & SOLD!

It's time for America to Stand up, and take a bow.... The such denied "Apology Tour" not only happened, it was even televised by this network. and ALL Main stream networks. Homework for Everyone.... Try to figure out Bush didn't create the Depression. I've done all the real work, and here are the facts. Tonight's job to become more educated by doing your own fact checking.....

This is an e-mail I have been sending to Everyone I know.

I've been saying this for years, but this email probably explains it better and more clearly. This is NOT a political message but rather a clarification to remind us all of the correct facts.

Remember that on October 9, 2007, 11 months before our "economic crisis" occurred (that was actually created), the Dow hit it's highest point ever. Closing at 14,164.53 and reaching 14,198.10 intra-day level. 2 days later Unemployment was steady at 4.7%.

Things were already being put in place to create the havoc we've been experiencing since then. It all started as this email explains, on January 3, 2007.

I'm sending this to each of you reguardless of your party preferences because I believe it is something you may not have considered.

This tells the story, why Bush was so "Bad" at the end of his term.

Don't just skim over this' it's not very long, read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out!!!

The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd, 2009.It was actually January 3rd. 2007, which was the day the Democrats took over the House and Senate. The very start of the 110th Congress.

For those who are listening to the liberals saying that everything is "Bush's Fault", Think about this: January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. (The Democrats Controlled Congress and The Senate for the entire last 2 years of Bush's final term.)

At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

Unemployment was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH!

Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee. The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie- starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA! And who fought against reform of Fannie & Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress.

So when someone tries to blame Bush. REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush got somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all or these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is "I inherited a defecit I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th."

There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

PLEASE DO YOUR PART!!!

There is the Benghazi issue again. Get a clue. The host country provides the extra security in the event of an extensive attack, such as the one in Libya, on our diplomats. The government of Libya failed in protecting our diplomats, so regrettably we lost our citizens. Check this out: How many diplomats are in this country right now? How many of them carry their own heavy weapon crew? Here is the answer- None. Diplomat security probably carry light weapons for a one or two attacker, the extra defense comes from our Government, we provide the extra security. You just don't start blowing things up in another country, we must follow international laws. Obama did not go on apology tour, the rich got you brained washed with their bought out radio shows, TV news, and ads. R&R, after all the facts are checked, they are not trustworthy. Since R/R are fudging the truth, there is a good chance that they won't keep any of what they are promising you. Wake up, and get off Obama.

Hey MSN lotsa words,

It is language like you have just posted that gets you banned.

If you wish to present cogent facts that support your position, then you are welcome to present your arguements.

Karl Rove's operatives have a habit of accusing Democrat inclined posters of doing what those same operatives are doing. Pathetic and terribly hypocritical.

"The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Ohio Voters shows Romney with 50% support to President Obama’s 48%."

You Republicans just love Rasmussen. But remember --- in late October, 2008 -- Rasmussen had McCain winning Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado and West Virginia. He LOST all of them. What yo don't talk about is all the other polls showing Obama up in Ohio.

It may be someone who NEVER goes by that name a name his father gave him as a junior but so what? and Barack Hussein Obama

How dare you call them by their (actual) First and Middle names!

As silly name calling goes, that is the epitome of civility and politeness, especially here!

dangerfield: True, but it's still childish as the only reason to use those names is to make it look like there's something wrong with the owners. No one in America uses their middle name unless their first name is dorky and they prefer the middle one ("Willard" sounds pretty dorky to me).

This is indeed a major election - an election highlighting two choices for change. The choices – incrementally build on the work that's been done, or throw everything out and start over.

So, if you're not voting, you are leaving this critical decision to others. You're letting your neighbor vote for you. You're letting your grandpa vote for you. You're letting your ex-boyfriend vote for you. You're letting your crazy Uncle Charlie vote for you.

Even if you believe the candidates' differences are not overwhelming, there is always a choice. Even if "you'd rather there was someone else," there is always a choice.

And think about it - who benefits if they can keep you from voting?

I'm not letting that happen with my vote.

Probably gonna try and use it as a charity donation. I could just see the faces of the Red Cross workers when the trucks arrived with canned goods; poor souls were probably shaking their heads like they haven't got more important work to do than spend time sorting out cans and other items they didn't ask for.

Guess you're getting your news from FOX? Try other media outlets that actually report what's really happening. Here's a thought, think about all things that ROBME wants to take away or get rid of, then think about all the things that Obama wants EVERYONE to have or at least the opportunity to have. The choice is clear. The Romney campaign is reduced to lying and trying to steal votes because they know they can't win the right way. All politicians stretch the truth, but only one has told outrageous lies and has outed himself and memorialized it for all to see. They are avoiding the important questions like FEMA and Women's health rights. Do you know why? Because no matter what they say, it will not benefit them. They don't care about AMERICA, they just want to win, even it means they have to cheat. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are despicable.

There is no such thing as a independent. Either they are dem or rep. These people just want to be differ. They already know who they going to vote for from day one. Romney from day one started with lies and he will end with lies. People need to be looking at the lies R&R has told. You know the old saying.....the devil is a liar. You can talk until you are blue in the face, but no one knows what Romney stands for, he is confusing the people. So if he wins and people dont like what he is doing he can always say I told you so. People need to wake up. Romney will say anything to win and that the kind of person you want in office, vote for him but dont be crying when he does something you don't like. God is putting him right in front of you face and people still believe. Wake Up....

Then the radicals took over the GOP and Romney was nominated. His lies and flip flops are just proof he is only running for the sake of running, the power of the election is for the GOP/TP, Romney is the face, the actor...

Like those Jeep commercials even after he was called out by Chrysler and the Detroit Paper that even endorsed him originally called him out yet he keeps putting the fear mongering out there trying not to get votes but scare voters into voting for him.

You know who decides elections? It's not the straight party Democrats or Republicans. It's not the 90% who are going to vote a party ticket. It's the other 10%. It's the 10% who refuse to be bound by party dogma. 45% will always vote Democrat. 45% will always vote Republican. 10% will think for themselves.

                Robert 1960:

I was by turns morbidly amused and vocally disgusted by the crop of thieves, perverts, tinfoil-hattted cranks, religious fanatics and just plain old- fashioned idiots the Republican Party presented to the voters this time around; but let's face it, their standards started dropping with the election of Ronald Reagan, and pretty much bottomed out with Bush 43.

In between times, they got Bush 41, a man of no mean intelligence, who understood the political necessity of compromise, had a mind of his own, and can be seen at a remove of twenty years as being a man who truly wanted the best for all Americans, not just the filthy rich ones, even though he was horribly inept at articulating his concerns.

My take on it is that the puppet masters in the Republican Party vowed to never again allow somebody like George H.W. Bush to take the helm. This was, of course, years before Pope Grover declared that the only neccessary qualification for the most powerful job in the world was "enough digits to hold a pen"; it absolutely boggles my mind that the rank-and-file would allow an unelected cipher like that to be the ultimate power broker for their party, and neither question nor protest when it's publicly aknowledged that their eventual nominee, whoever it was, would be a mere puppet. That, to me, speaks volumes about the mindset of the 45% who'll vote GOP no matter what kind of cretin is under that banner.

Regular readers of this space might well be forgiven for thinking me a passionate supporter of the President; the truth is that I was behind Hillary and switched my allegiance to Obama because a.) John McCain is as corrupt a career pol as has ever trod the Earth (Keating Five!), and b.) Sarah Palin is the biggest imbecile ever to reach the lofty position that she did- she actually made Gov. Perry and President Bush 43 look sage and statesman-like by comparison.

Judging by Candidate Obama, I was half-expecting (and wholeheartedly hoping) that he'd be leading a torchlight column of peasants with pitchforks on to Wall Street by about 2/10/09; I was and still am utterly disgusted and maybe just a little bit heartbroken by how quickly he remade himself into a corporate whore like all the rest of them. However, I still lay the blame completely at the door of Boehner, McConnell and Cantor for how little progress has been made since then- and once again, am baffled by the blind loyalty of their obedient minions who seem to feel that four years of mindless obstructionism have somehow been beneficial to them and theirs. Better continuing pain and privation for the entire nation than to allow a single success for the Kenyan Socialist Islamist whatever... congratulation, you ignoramuses, and are you really happy with the candidate you got? Honestly, now.

Romney as President: Should there be another (God Forbid) natural disaster who would Romney call? Well what do you know? He did say in one of his primary debates that he would get rid of FEMA and use private companies for disaster relief. Now who might that be? Well, what do you know? Cheney is one of his campaign advisors and indications are that he might even end up in Romney's administration in some capacity, and who is Cheney known to favor? Oh yeah, Halliburton. We all know how Halliburton worked in Iraq. All those committee meetings about how soldiers were being electrocuted by faulty wiring installed by Haliburton workers. How the soldiers were being fed bad food and water by the Haliburton company. Cheney will obviously suggest Haliburton can take care of disaster relief. It's a private company and think of all the money they can make out of doing the least possible for disaster victims and sending out third rate equipment for rescue.

Plus the booger wouldn't answer any questions regarding his FEMA stance during the primaries and he is Presidential and the hero of the right. Why won't MSNBC report on the latest developments regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi? Hillary Clinton addressed it over a week ago. Leon Panetta admitted to telling our forces to stand down. I'm getting my information directly from our Secretary of State and our Secretary of defense, so before all you brilliant libs who have a problem with "the right wing media" try to tell me Fox News is full of it, understand this failed administration is where I'm getting this from. Why won't the media report on what's going on? It's disgusting that you're not even smart enough to have a position on it. Hillary Clinton addressed this over a week ago. I heard her, but not a peep out of you left wing "reporters". Panetta is on the record. Not you "journalists". I guess I shouldn't expect any more form the network that doctored the 911 tape in the Tayvon Martin case. Hey, aren't you also the network that rigged GM trucks to explode and appear unsafe on Dateline when they wouldn't blow up themselves and ruined the story that had written without getting the facts? Yeah. You are. Shame on you for calling yourselves journalists. Report the news and let people decide for themselves.

He's black and that is a problem for you) he thinks before he reacts. He is doing the best that he can do. Living through 8 freaken years of Bush and you didn't feel bitter.

You would gladly vote in office a man that flips. Or is it that your head is so far up.......Ms. Ann Romney has said an unthinkable statement. If you don't believe it then please just simply look it up. Romney has served two years or whatever it was in the mission and equites that to serving in the military. Some of my best and worst days was sent in the service. That statement above all is a slap in the face to all who serve.

If the federal government, has no role in our lives, why is he running? Is he going to explain how he can take credit for saving an auto industry he condemned to die? Is he going to pull the second biggest con man fraud in US history? The Master Con Man Joseph Smith could do it in a country that was mainly illiterate. Are we still at that level? After warching Fox and friends... maybe be we still are that ignorant.

A feudal system has a king, nobles, knights and peasants/serfs. The United States of American was created and then the USA defeated England in the Revolutionary War. So going back to a feudal system would be a matter of war not a presidential election...

Some historical knowledge may enlighten you.

"History shows that the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democrat Party. This ugly fact about the Democrat Party is detailed in the book, A Short History of Reconstruction, (Harper & Row Publishers, Inc., 1990) by Dr. Eric Foner, the renown liberal historian who is the DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University."
