I sure hope you all will be discussing the poll watchers handbook by the robme team. I am actually an election commissioner in my county- this manual is bogus and not correct in so many areas it would be a joke if the intent wasn't to out and out intimidate voters - and that is their full and true purpose.
I had the most profound experience at my local Starbucks this morning. I was walking out the door when I noticed a businessman –dressed in his three-piece suit—that I have seen countless times in my favorite Starbucks. Out of kindness I held the door open for him and he repaid me by stopping short and walking away. Apparently the guy was either fearful of my presence or has a clear disdain for us common folk. I had to laugh as I thought, "the Republicans are running scared." American Taliban Republican repugnance known’s no bounds.
@ Joseph.....Fear is their motivator and because of that one factor, they can't appreciate any act of kindness.
There were some guys in brown shirts back in the 1930s in Germany who were pretty good at using fear to get what they want. From what I see the far right is using those brown shirted guys as mentors. If given power the result might well be the same.
If you wouldn't have been holding your hand out waiting for a tip he may have walked in and said thank you. He most likely looked at you and saw your Obummer phone in your hand and thought to himself here is another POS.
Have a nice day......
yea...because all of us 47%er's go to Starbucks for our morning coffee...hoping some suit will give us a handout.
BIGOT
First, there my friend, I used to work at that Starbucks store for one. And for another, I have also lived in the Cultural District, near Portland State University, for some five years now. I am very well known and very well liked by most who patronize the store. And, no I am not homeless. I am cancer survivor who is retired. Moreover, among many of us there seems to be an unspoken agreement where politics is never a topic of discussion.
Incidentally, some of those Starbuck Baristas are all college kids trying to eek out an education and a living. And, I am like their favorite Uncle or Grandfather. I get into their lives and they get into mine. That is why I was taken aback this morning.
Buckman....are you being fearful too? Have a nice day yourself.
Good Morning, Buckman.
I'd like you to do me the courtesy of reading a response that I wrote yesterday to a comment similar to the one you've made here.
It's good to not lump everyone and everything together, or to not make huge assumptions about others. You just never know about people and their motivations. And after all, isn't that what makes our country great in the first place?
Think about it, just because you are obviously voting for the Republican candidate, I don't automatically post that you must be angry, defensive, and strangely non-trusting due to something rough from your childhood that you haven't dealt with.
Nor do I think that because of this behavior you have trouble with meaningful relationships.
I don't assume you didn't go to -or finish- college or that you consistently blame others for why you are not as successful as you thought you'd be by this age.
Just because you're not voting for Obama, you don't hear me talking about all the times you've wanted to put your time where your mouth is by really attempting to take part in an organized religion, only to think to yourself as you're doing it that you'd much rather be drinking beer and watching football. Even if it's usually alone or only with other males who are just like you.
It's not like I say that you pick on people who are different than you because you secretly feel bad about yourself and especially bad about the fact that you know this and yet can't admit it or talk to someone about making it better.
I won't even bring up that you are so angry right now because of reading this post, but you won't do anything productive to work out that anger, so you'll probably just make someone else in your life feel bad and then you'll feel bad, too, because you'll know it's because of this silly internet post and the person in your life will think it's about something serious and/or sincere.
And, finally, I'll never assume that because you have voted or will be voting for Mitt Romney, that you badly do air guitar because you're insecure about dancing in public, that you need to shave, and that you secretly always loved 'Will and Grace' but would never have admitted it.
Nope. Not me. I'm just going to picture you like any other open-hearted, smart, interesting American.
Have a nice day (and I actually mean it).
I saw where axelrod is expounding on how Gov Christie & PRESident 0bama are arm in arm as they examine the Jersey coast damage done by the Perfect storm sandy. Christie made a point of saying that politics will not enter in the realm of who and what help he gets and that the president is just doing his job. Axelrod is indeed taking advantage of the moment to show obama in a presidential way, the same thing is being done in the Bengahzi fiasco, lies & a cover up to protect obama only it's not going to work. obama is toast
