Obama: The role of the president

AP’s Feller: “The politics of Obama’s storm response are not overt. The point is to go the other direction and just be presidential. So gone, for three days and counting, are the rallies in which Obama expressly asks people to re-elect him. Instead, voters see images of Obama in charge in the Situation Room, or addressing the country from the White House briefing room, or assuring the hurting while visiting the American Red Cross that ‘America is with you.’ To the independent and undecided voters sick of the mess in Washington, Obama appears bipartisan and positively unconcerned about his own political fate. His best friend is suddenly a prominent Romney supporter, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, with whom Obama will tour damage on Wednesday.

“‘The president has been all over this, and he deserves great credit,’ Christie, a Republican, gushed in a TV interview. By contrast, when Christie was asked whether Romney was coming to help, he said, ‘I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested.’”

AP’s Babington: “President Barack Obama put campaign battleground travel on hold to tour the ravaged New Jersey coast Wednesday, while under-the-wire campaigning resumed in swing state Florida that is critical to Republican Mitt Romney’s victory plan.”

Mitt Romney may be ahead by one point nationally, but President Obama leads 50% to 46%, in 12 battleground states: Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.

Remember that polls in early vote States will diminish since up to 40% of people already voted, and Obama is ahead 2 to 1 in all those.

I said many times that the only reason of how Romney would win this election is if he LIES and CHEATS.
We already know he's a pathological liar.

The big question is... Why Romney a Ryan lie so much?

The NYTimes speculates that it is because the current set of facts about the world and the US economy are not sufficient to un-elect the President.

To win they would have to make things up to make them seem worse than they are.

There could be an element of this...

...their politics has placed protecting the privilege of elites over all other concerns and considerations.

“The monster storm, likely the biggest ‘October surprise’ in history, left both campaigns without a script, forcing them to make uncharted, and potentially politically-damaging, decisions on the fly.”

And therein lies the rub:

Mitt Romney is not very good without a script. When he goes off the approved talking points, we end up with such classics as "Corporations are people my friend" and his infamous 47% comment. The presidency is not a rote role. although some aspects to it are. What defines a leader is being able to think on their feet and adapt to new challenges that were unforseen. They will not always get it right, but they will do their best.

If those are the qualifications of a leader, Obama is out.

Think god Romney wasn't President, or we would have had another Bush Katrina debacle if not worse. I honestly think it would have been worse.

Why didn't the annointed one just blow his hot air at the storm and turn it away? I know. George Bush still has the weather control machine, and caused the whole thing!

Christie's words about Obama are the words spoken by a man interested in running for Prez in 2016.

As for Mitt's lies, he is going back to his time as a missionary. They are to get converts anyway they can. "The end justify the Means" and that includes saying whatever it takes to get what you want. That and they think no one will Hold Them accountable.

Romney is not President, yet. He is a private citizen. What is he supposed to do. Get in the way? Besides. He has too much class to show up in a disaster area just for a photo op.

Christie is concerned about his state & his people in Jersey as he should be, when he said politics are are not in play he meant it. 0bama on the other hand is there for one reason and one reason only, to show the world that he really, really cares, it's just hard to swallow when you see what he has done in the past, in times of need obama looks the other way, now that the election is at risk obama will jump on any chance to impress the public. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is what is currently going on with the LIBYA, Benghazi fiasco, cover-up. Remember when OBL was killed, there was not a second gone by and obama was all over the networks blabbing on how every detail was executed, to the point that too much information was released, BUT in the Bengahzi situation obama has yet to say to the American public what happened, as he knows it. instead obama is having to defend the all the different versions that his co-harts put out. There's a stark difference in the actions between what obama did in both situations, WHY ?

The RWNJ will complain if Obama isn't in the White House taking care of business and when he does take care of business they complain it isn't enough or the timing isn't right. They look for something, anything to pick at the President for.

Romney has made a gesture, whether for humanitarian or political reasons that I am sure people appreciate. Given what he has said about FEMA in the past one can see where it is probably more politically motivated than for humanitarian purposes. As a sociopath Romney will say or do anything that will get him what he wants. If that LOOKS like he is empathetic and wants to help, fine, if it gets him votes. Were this not an election year I rather doubt Romney would be the least bit interested.

Without FEMA the Romney/Ryan Admin. would encourage Koch Brothers and other COMMERICAL interests to come in and clean up after which they would bill the citizens for the job. After all it is all about making a profit isn't it?
