Updated 4 p.m. ET — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign doubled down on its assertion about auto industry jobs moving to China with a new radio ad in northwest Ohio.
A Romney for president ad airing on Toledo, Ohio's classic rock station, WXKR, strongly insinuates that President Barack Obama's 2009 bailout of the auto industry has led to jobs shifting from the United States to China.
The narrator in the ad says:
Barack Obama says he saved the auto industry. But for who? Ohio or China? Under President Obama, GM cut 15,000 American jobs, but they are planning to double the number of cars built in China which means 15,000 more jobs for China. And now comes word that Chrysler plans to start making Jeeps
is starting to build carsin, you guessed it, China. What happened to the promises made to autoworkers in Toledo and throughout Ohio? The same hard-working men and women who were told that Obama’s auto bailout would help them. Mitt Romney grew up in the auto industry. Maybe that’s why the Detroit News endorsed him saying ‘Romney understands the industry and will shield it from regulators who never tire of churning out new layers of mandates. Mitt Romney – he’ll stand up for the auto industry. In Ohio, not China.
The radio spot follows a TV controversial ad playing to fears that Chrysler had plans to move production of Jeeps from the U.S. to China. Romney and other Republicans had previously given voice to errant reports suggesting such a shift, though those original reports referred only to capacity for production of vehicles in China for sale in China.
The TV ad drew extensive coverage in the media for its suggestion that Jeep was moving jobs to China at the expense of positions in the United States. Toledo, a prime swing territory in the battleground state of Ohio, is home to a major Jeep production facility.
The radio spot goes a step further in stoking fears that U.S. production of Jeeps would be moved offshore to China.
As First Read wrote on Monday, this series of ads — running during the closing days of the campaign — mark an effort by Romney to re-frame his opposition to the auto industry bailout and defend himself from Obama's attacks on the issue.

It is a desperate move. Unfortunately Sandy has taken away his message but left "The Myth" with little or no days for this to be as big of a national story for him. His camp believes that the lies have worked thus far. Truely amazing how both Running Ryan and The Myth tout religions but have taken the position that they will be forgiven if they did not follow God's 9th commandment. Riduculous. He is having to play defense on this until election day. What is his answers to head of Jeep? I listen surrogates such as Morning Joe who try to explain away that The Myth was saying why not build here. It is not what he said. He said they were moving Jobs that was already here to China.

For all you Romney fans out there I wonder how you feel this morning, knowing your canidate is putting out lies to the American people to scare them to vote for him. How proud you must be of him this morning. The auto industry has said loud and clear this is a lie, Romney has no ethics or moral fiber. Is this the man you want to vote for, or just voting against Obama. I think we all know the answer.
The campaign already said it had no trouble lying. It is the 47% that will vote for the liar that concerns me. Are 47% (Romney voters) of Americans liars?

I've read the rebuttals from the Chrysler CEO (Chrysler makes the Jeep). The CEO says that they're reopening an existing China facility. They're not shifting any U.S. production anywhere.
So, why are you lying to us, Mr. Romney? Do you think we're stupid?

How is the GOP not to blame for the Bush depression? Romney would have made it worse. His editorial said "no Federal funds to help automakers." Romney is telling so many lies and now this BIG one!!!! Chyrsler and GM have stated clearly they have no intentions of having their cars manufactured in China and taking American jobs away and giving them to the Chinese. But here are some things that are true about Romney, he is invested in the two largest oil drilling companies in China instead of investing in American oil and American jobs. He owns two factories that are in China and he shut two factories down here in the USA to put thousands of cheap Chinese laborers to work. He owns a "spyware company that sells items to China that then uses the same products to spy on it's own people and the USA. He is presently building a factory in Finland and one in Ireland and when open will take thousands of jobs away from Americans when he shuts those factories down here in the USA. This man is so involved with China it is not funny. So if he happens to win the election does that mean the USA will start buying Chinese oil so his investments pay off? I bet it happens if he wins. Romney is a liar, cheater and only is thinking about what he can get out of being President, he is not running for you and me. Oh and do not forget his recent purchase through Bain Capital, who went through H.I.G. Capital who then used Solamere(all Romney companies) to buy Hart Intercivic a manufacturer of electronic voting machines that will be used across the country on the Nov. 6th including 6 of the 9 swing states including the big one of Ohio. People running for office should not be allowed to own or have anything to do with avoting machine companies, but now Romeny owns one. This is totally immoral and a HUGE conflict of interest. I wonder if the machines are set up to take every third vote for Obama and register it as a vote for Romney. The Justice Dept. needs to investigate this and pull every Hart Intercivic machine from this years polling places so that Romney is not able to win the election by cheating like George Bush did. He was friends with several top executives in another voting machine company that were devout GOP members and were taken on lavish trips by the Bush family. So Romney is like Bush just another cheating liar who will take this country into another recession and probably a depression.

I voted over a week ago for President Obama, I had no problem with my choice for POTUS. My choice was between a man with morals, values, class and a brain,or Liar Romney. What 's really driving Maverick McCain crazy is the fact that he could not get Obama to go in to Libya despite the pleas from him and Gram, the two Military Industrial Complex Salesmen. They both went to "scout" for the $$$$ they planned to makebut came out empty handed to the dismay of their financiers. In another potential blow for the president's Ohio reelection campaign, Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China.
Such a move would crash the economy in towns like Toledo, Ohio, where Jeeps are made and supplied, and rob the community of the economic security they thought Obama's auto bailout assured them.
Obama is such a fan of Jeep that he included a picture of himself speaking at the Toledo plant in his newly released second term agendabinder. In his address to the plant in 2011, Obama said, "I just took a short tour of the plant and watched some of you putting the finishing touches on the Wrangler. Now, as somebody reminded, I need to call it the 'iconic' Wrangler. And that's appropriate because when you think about what Wrangler has always symbolized. It symbolized freedom, adventure, hitting the open road, never looking back."
Well it appears that the taxpayer bailed-out Chrysler is looking back and now considering cutting costs by shifting production of all Jeeps to China, which has a strong desire for Jeeps.
In a Bloomberg interview, Jeep's president said the automaker plans to restore Jeep production in China, suspended in 2009, and is considering making all Jeeps in China. "Fiat SpA, majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region," reported the business wire service.
Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia and president of the Jeep brand, told Bloomberg, "We're reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity" as well as "should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio" to China.
Chrysler builds Jeep SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Manley said the firm is in talks with China's Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.

Why would anyone make such a statement before they actually checked the facts. I read and listened to the CEO of Fiat and nothing like that was stated. CEO Romney might have wanted to check in with GM and Chrysler before he trashed their rescue and company expansion plans. He either didn't do his homework or he just didn't care about the views of the companies involved in the auto rescue. That is not smart and it certainly isn't leadership. It is either incompetence or deliberate lying.
It is both!!!! Everyone should also know that Romney, Ann, son Tagg and brother George recently purchased the voting machine manufacturer Hart Intercivic. Harts (Romneys) machines will be used across the nation and in 6 of the 9 swing states including the big one of Ohio. This purchase was quietly processed through Bain Capital who then used H.I.G. Capital who then went through Solamere (all Romney owned firms). So now I wonder under the secret direction of some obscure Romney employee he has had the machines rigged so that perhaps every third Obama vote actually registers as a Romney vote? As sneaky and cheater that he is I would not doubt it one bit. This purchase should be illegal, is immoral and definitely a conflict of interest. I ask all of you out there to do what I did, I called and e-mailed many US Senators, Congressional Representatives, the US Justice Department and any other entity I could think of to have this investigated and have all Hart machines pulled before the election so Romney owned voting machines are not used in the election. Please help and get this investigated before it is too late.
In the Bush/Gore election a relative living in a Republican area in Florida went to vote. She is a democrat she was sent to broken voting machines. her husband a republican was sent to another area to vote, working machines.
