Electoral College Model Predicts Romney Will Win Even Bigger Than Previously Thought in 2012
University of Colorado Professors Ken Bickers and Michael Berry and their highly-accurate Electoral College prediction model. As you may recall, Bickers and Berry, using their metrics, are able to retroactively predict every presidential win since 1980.
Their 2012 model made headlines two months ago because, despite polling, it found that Republican presidential candidate Romney would win 320 Electoral Votes, stealing the White House away from President Barack Obama. Now, an updated version of their study has come to the same conclusion — but it intensifies the numbers behind a predicted Romney win.
Despite the fact that polls still show a dead-heat race (Obama is currently at 48.2 percent, with Romney capturing 47.3 percent of likely voters in the most recent Real Clear Politics average), an updated election model shows an even larger gap between the Electoral College votes that Romney and Obama are projected to win. According to Bickers and Berry, the Republican challenger is projected to take 330 of the 558 votes, while Obama is expected to capture only 208 of them.
Romney will carry New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia, Iowa, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida. On the flip side, Obama will take Michigan and Nevada.
While many election forecast models are based on the popular vote, the model developed by Bickers and Berry is based on the Electoral College and is the only one of its type to include more than one state-level measure of economic conditions. They included economic data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Chuck Todd is in charge of reporting in politics, and if he were to refer to Nate Silver it would shoot all of his theories through the foot. I believe in Nate.
Obama has the edge in Ohio and Wisconsin, and nothing he can do can prevent this without voter intimidation at the polls. Auto workers will not be suckered in by Romney's lying ads.

Sounds like they are afraid to stand behind their own prediction model. Suddenly, they are concerned with influences such as consumer confidence and a whole host of other factors that may be unique to this election. Golly shucks, perhaps they should have walked the modeling all the way back to the Great Depression, that period of time that we most closely match. Now that would be an interesting study.

Touting the race as close whips up fervor, and also allows the networks to get as much for their advertising slots as possible on election night. What is the truth? Everyone is arguing about conflicting poll numbers and models...yet they are clearly missing the most accurate poll. This election isn't going to come down to turnout...it's not going to come down to who carries independents either.

Romneys concern for the hurricane victims is obvious as he plans to visit there on Thursday. he understands governance as well as economics. His leadership is what will lead us back to wealth prosperity and a standard of living that we can all benefit from.
The horrible mistake of 2008 can only be described as a failed social experiment. Historic doesn't equate with success. Arranging a few picnics in Chicago as a community organizer and writing a couple books, ABOUT HIMSELF, obviously didn't qualify Barrack Hussein for the monumental task of leadership we need.
It's time to evict the trespasser in our White House and replace him with a man who believes in American exceptionalism for all. Barrack Husseins promotion of mediocrity will never restore our Republic to its intended greatness.

Feisty or Frank, Did we ever have a natural disaster this close to an election? I evacuated a barrier island here in N.J. Last I heard in could be at least 10 before we are allowed to return. Power outages could last for a week or more. My relatives in N.Y have no power or phone. How do you have elections under these circumstances?

This is getting hysterical. The model has NEVER 'accurately predicted' an election. I'll tell you what has accurately predicted an election - my Magic 8 Ball, it predicted Obama would win the 2008 election. Alas, it failed me on 2010 - I failed to replace the black inky fluid with tea before asking for the prediction. Good news is, so far, my Magic 8 Ball has more accuracy than the Ticked Off model.

I wouldn't put much faith in that "edge" in Ohio, for two reasons-
Two of the polls contributing to that edge- CNN and PPP- have methodology problems, meaning that those four point leads, which leaves them within the margin of error, need to be discounted- or, at a minimum, read as "tied".
Second, all the polling is confounded by the number of people who claim to have already voted- the official numbers do not support the polling numbers, so should, actually, be weighted down.
As to Marist- their problems are legendary.
Ohio is tight, but I firmly believe Romney is actually the one with the edge there.
You are certainly entitiled to believe that way but I firmly believe the opposite. Hope you folks on NJ pull out of the storm OK.

What is it that make up the brains of an average republican. He or she will welcome from the same source a positive trend but incapable of accepting even if the same methodology was used in both instances if it goes the other way. A liberal will accept the results regardless. All liberals accepted that Romney won the first debate but republicans are yet to accept that Obama trounced Romney in two subsequent debates. I am amazed that Romney lies are being played as him navigating to the middle when in actual sense it is a case of flip flopping, etch -a- sketch. The republicans will never let a liberal get away with something like it. The only flip that Kerry did against Bush jr. was " l voted for it before l voted against it" meaning the Iraqi invasion by Bush jr. All hell broke loose. They followed Kerry every where with play cards showcasing, flip flop. Even though l don't believe some of the polls, l liken Rasmussen polls with a grain of salt as far as reality matters so are many other polls especially fox and all that it stood for. These two especially are patented Obama haters. How on earth would they not skewer the polls to show negativity towards him? All others have their own bias but on the whole the best poll will be the one on Nov. 6th. After that date, there will be no doubt what the people said, hopefully the Republicans will not challenge Obama trouncing lying Mitt. Romney as usual.

In Canada's last election the polls had the Province of Quebec completely wrong. The last place party actually came first with an overwhelming majority and one of that party's candidates won with the largest majority while spending the entire time in Vegas during the campaign.
What 'Nobody' is doing is talking about any of the solid red states flipping, like what we see in Wisc., Penn., and now even Oregon.
O is at only 47% in Oregon.
Plus the Obama's real estate broker has been instructed to close and have Hawaii mansion ready by mid January 2013.

In difficult times like this the nation has a President, and not a 'boss.' The American People has a President working in the Oval Office, and not a "Bully In The Corporate Board Room." The nation has a President who, means what he says, and says what he means at all times. The nation has a President that communicates well with everyone, and has clear thinking on all issues. Our nation does not need a "Ill-Tempered Bully" making hasty decisions. The nation does not need a GOP/RNC "Poltical Fip-Flopper." This will just cause mistrust, confusion, and incompetence. FEMA being put into the hands of corporations like Bain Capital is just "Economically Evil," not realistic at all. Giving all relief tasks to the individual states will not work, and this was clearly learned already from US History. This was the era of the "Confederation OF States" that caused mistrust, and mass confusion between the states. Remember how this worked America? Read, research, and think very carefully of how the idea of a "Confederation Of States" failed. This is exactly what the GOP/RNC wants to do. Again! Let us not repeat history. Again!

Now that personal computers are available to almost anyone why are conservatives not any better informed than they were decades ago? They accept the same lies year after year and don't ever seem to come out ot their envelopes. One comment was that most republicans are followers and need to have simple solutions from their leaders and this does explain alot about them. They don't do well at thinking for themselves and this certainly seems to be true of conservative women.

I warned of the Earth Quake in Italy a few days ago. Maybe too early, but I did warn of it and the one in Los Angeles, CA. I now have also told you that there is usually a hit in similar latitude or horizontal direction but East and or West. Now I am telling you with these so close and the Sandy hurricane as well as the Volcano of Hawaii, some major, major occurrence will happen or natural disaster, different than we have seen or a hand full of actions. Expect the late season tornadoes. I have been attacked over my speaking out for the actions of environmental threats by Asians and Mormons. So it is difficult for me to understand what the profound or God has warning to us.
A book that I recommend for this day is The Deep The Extraordinary Creatures of the Abyss. by Claire Nouvian. There is no infinite novices of the Earth or the Ocean. However there are extraordinary men and woman who made their life so full of this exploration. This book touches on this as well as colorful, extraordinary photos of things never seen by those who have not also been there. The photos so vivid one can see the image of the camera and men captured in the blue eyes of the creatures of the ocean in some photos. It also shares the unusual temperatures of caverns and depths in the deep abyss of the Oceans. Public please, are these in all hemispheres and Gulfs? What is the farthest northerly Gulf of the USA? Of the World? China can threaten the masses of herds and schools of fish that swarm on Earth. Will these magnificent plants and creatures be taken to other planets. What is the hottest temperature of water streams from the core of Earth? Protection against these environmentally endangered species fall upon all of us on Earth and in the USA. Learning of the impeding weather and it relates Biblical and Learning is not one that should be stopped or horded nor learning in any way on the basis of prejudice.
Trump making comments and troubled waters during this election about the private and personal sex life and marriage of Barrack and Michelle Obama is unethical, disrespectful and prejudice.
This Administration has done more for to save the auto industry and ecology and jobs for this nation than most industries and prior Administrations.
Books such as I have mentioned above are being damaged from Libraries in the USA. Have a reading and bring books of the Ocean to an Environmental experience and learning at a party. Wow! A Halloween party! Wow, Obama cares? Is that why when Virginia had 29 tornadoes, killing 10 people and over 1200 houses destroyed or damaged, FEMA denied help to Virginia?
That is the real reason why Romney believes the state should decide on what FEMA does, then FEMA cannot and will not penalize a state that is mostly Republican and has a Republican governor.

FEMA Denies Federal Disaster Assistance for Virginia Tornado Damage
– Governor McDonnell considers appealing decision –
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has denied Virginia's request for federal disaster assistance for those affected by the April tornadoes.
Governor Bob McDonnell requested federal disaster assistance for the counties of Halifax, Pulaski and Washington. Also, the governor requested FEMA include April 8-28 as one incident period so other localities, such as Gloucester and Middlesex, could be added later.
Virginia was struck by 29 tornadoes in April, killing ten and destroying an estimated 212 homes and damaging 1,050.
"We are very disappointed that FEMA did not grant disaster assistance for Virginians still working to recover from the tornadoes," said Governor McDonnell. "We are examining the possibility of appealing the decision, but in the mean time, state resources will continue to support the efforts of local governments and volunteer organizations that are helping our citizens recover.
"I want to thank local elected officials, state legislators and especially our congressional members for their strong, unwavering, bipartisan support of our request," he added.
In addition, FEMA denied Virginia's request for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, which provides funds for government projects that help reduce disaster risks by protecting homes and businesses against future damage.
