Subscribe to RSSVice President Joe Biden earned ridicule from foes Saturday when he twice referred to the Democratic Virginia Senate candidate by the wrong first name.
Biden began his remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 at the Lynchburg Armory by praising former Gov. Tim Kaine with the correct name but later declared two times that he is "a big Tom Kaine fan."
Kaine is running against Republican George Allen for the seat vacated by Democrat Sen. Jim Webb, who is retiring.
The vice president went on to offer similar compliments for ex-Rep. Tom Perriello, whose first name is Tom.
A Mitt Romney campaign spokesman immediately highlighted the error.
“Vice President Biden forgot the name of his own Virginia Democratic Senate nominee and he wants voters to forget about President Obama’s failed economic policies and lack of a real agenda for a second term," Ryan Williams wrote in a campaign statement.
In Lynchburg, Biden also accused Republicans of hoping for lapses of memory.
"They're counting on the American people to have an overwhelming case of amnesia on November the 6th," he said.
Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith also responded.
"Once again, Mitt Romney’s campaign is showing their focus on the big things — like one letter in Tim Kaine's name," Smith said. "If they put as much time and effort into their policies, maybe we'd finally have an answer for how they'd pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted to the very wealthy."
Kaine, the victim of the flub, responded in a tongue-in-cheeck tweet later Saturday.
"Thanks to the VPOTUS for the shout out today. I love Jay Biden!" he joshed via Twitter.

Also, believing these past four years have been the greatest in American history. Here is the truth! Biden is an idiot, Obama is a lying, dishonest, despicable failure idiot! Mitt Romney will try his best to save this country and Ryan will be at his side helping him. What all Americans need to do is be ready to help save ourselves and our way of life. There will need to be sacrifices and compromises, but we're "Americans"; we can do it! The past 4 years have divided us and turned us against each other like never before. Please don't let Obama and his ilk continue to drive us down the path to destruction. Our greatness has been tarnished and dented, but together we can once again become a shining example for the world!!

Some of these comments are so rude, and bitter, they are evil. Where is your integrity? You know who you are! You must have pathetic lives that you choose to focus on something so trivial, while a monumental tragedy is occurring on our east coast. I commend President Obama for having the foresight to take action and having the dedication to put this emergency before all else . His preparedness and courage played an important role in minimizing the severity of this disaster. Joe Biden is and has been a very respectable and supportive Vice President.

Alright, I come back to my question regarding if either one of the 2 VP candidates were in Charge and the Phone call at 3 AM on the RED PHONE. Do we really need Biden's Big mouth to possibly cause our soldiers un-needed death because he slips about saying something about mohammed or something else. Or the possibility of insulting a foreign leader??? I am not willing to let that happen! Much less than take a chance. By the way has his son really been in harms way serving? Maybe he should have been at Libya perhaps they would still be alive and Biden would not be asking the Father of the deceased soldier--'if his balls were as big as cue balls?" Mr VP that is a MAJOR INSULT that a National Public Apology is warranted! Otherwise, I am not willing to take a chance YOU becoming our President someday!
