GOP pounces on Biden flub in Virginia

Vice President Joe Biden earned ridicule from foes Saturday when he twice referred to the Democratic Virginia Senate candidate by the wrong first name.

Biden began his remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 at the Lynchburg Armory by praising former Gov. Tim Kaine with the correct name but later declared two times that he is "a big Tom Kaine fan."

Kaine is running against Republican George Allen for the seat vacated by Democrat Sen. Jim Webb, who is retiring.

The vice president went on to offer similar compliments for ex-Rep. Tom Perriello, whose first name is Tom.

A Mitt Romney campaign spokesman immediately highlighted the error.

“Vice President Biden forgot the name of his own Virginia Democratic Senate nominee and he wants voters to forget about President Obama’s failed economic policies and lack of a real agenda for a second term," Ryan Williams wrote in a campaign statement.

In Lynchburg, Biden also accused Republicans of hoping for lapses of memory.

"They're counting on the American people to have an overwhelming case of amnesia on November the 6th," he said.

Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith also responded.

"Once again, Mitt Romney’s campaign is showing their focus on the big things — like one letter in Tim Kaine's name," Smith said. "If they put as much time and effort into their policies, maybe we'd finally have an answer for how they'd pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted to the very wealthy."

Kaine, the victim of the flub, responded in a tongue-in-cheeck tweet later Saturday.

"Thanks to the VPOTUS for the shout out today. I love Jay Biden!" he joshed via Twitter.

Clayton, congress also closed the doors on all those stupid money grabbing bills the democrats have put forward during the last few, years. Joe Biden has advanced "Romnesia" to a higher level of "Obamanesia" when he tries to remember anything. I hope he hasn't forgotten his old address because that is where he's headed in a couple of weeks.

This is why people tune out of politics. The other day Romney made a gaffe about "women in binders" and the Dems were all over it. Now Vice President Biden makes a gaffe and the Reps are all over it. They are acting like children. If just one of them would act like an adult and say..."Hey, it was just a gaffe, let's keep the conversation going about our differences and what's really important." People would look at the candidate that said that with a whole new outlook. People would start to have more confidence that the grown-ups were in charge.

Just a heartbeat away. Unbelievable that anyone can take this idiot seriously. He make Dan Quayle look intelligent. Obama should have dumped this guy just to pump life back into the campaign. Not that it would have helped but anything would be better than this idiot.

If Obama had given stimulus money to true "small" business operations instead of the solar, wind, and other environmental big shots looking for handouts, there would have been job increases. Instead that money appears to have been wasted and lost forever. And remember the GM bailout? How about the creative financing they used to show that they paid the money back by using other stimulus package money for a net payback of nothing. The list could go on and on about the Obama administration's failures.

We've reached this level of "neener neener" in this campaign. Politics truly has regressed to 2nd grade. Don't care which side - focus on the issues please, not someone's flub who's probably really tired. Flub - getting someone's name wrong. Not a flub but a sign of their true values - 47% or corporations are people.

Oh no!!!! He got a name wrong. We need to vote them out for sure! The sky is falling.

Is this all the republican's have? What a weak party with absolutely no ideas. Oh wait, they do have ideas once they steal them from the Democrat's. Like 12 million jobs over the next 4 years. That sounds so familiar. Yes, because that is directly from Obama's budget. Good job Romney, you're so fresh and new.

So Obama hasn't shat out a miracle in four years. No one really expected him to.

Rmoney will not produce one in 400 years. Ryan will not either.

The GOP has not once balanced the budget since Eisenhower, and that's historic fact.

So come 2016 when we're no better off - in fact we will be worse off, than we are now, it won't be Rmoeny that failed America, it will be all those who voted for him that failed America.

No president could undo 8 years of Bush failures and blunders after spending away a national surplus that came from 8 previous years of fixing Bush Sr. 8 years of - what? Coming after Reagan who did what? Wasn't Carter.

Those are some pretty big clown shoes to fill, but it looks like the GOP has managed to find us a big enough clown.

Sorry there, small-handle, but you don't know a godsdamned thing about me. SO let me educate you, just a little, and free of charge.

I served this nation during the legitimate war in the middle east, you might remember as Operations: Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Desert Fox. I opted out at the end of the Clinton administration because I had insider information that said "this is not going to be a good place to be."

After leaving the military, I returned to the civilian world where I've started up two companies, both of which have weathered the recession St. Dubya and Wall Street Gang launched us into without layoffs or outsourcing.

And I continue to enjoy great prosperity under the current administration by being smarter and more suited for survival than my competitors.

In my free time I've written and had two books published, been photographed for several women's magazines, and invested a small personal fortune in the area where I live to help local area businesses thrive.

What have you done? Jerked off to the Gospel of Limbaugh? Attempted and failed to become an internet comedy gold mine?

And I do support abortion, the right to bare arms, and Freedom of Speech. Now watch as I very freely tell you to go f--k yourself, as you are clearly the load your mother should have spit out on the street where she works.

Actually my point, which you so clearly missed, along with anything resembling "the mark" when it comes to being even remotely amusing was this:

Obama has not done the impossible.
                              Rmoney will not either.

Historic fact clearly shows the last time the GOP was able to balance the budget was under Dwight D. Eisenhower. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_republican_president_balanced_a_budget

You can argue and posture all you like, but you cannot change historic fact.

Here's another historic fact: Obama specifically stated when he won the 2008 election that it would take more than a single term, possibly more than two terms to set the economy right.

Your hero has also stated he will need 8-10 years to balance the budget.

That's more than two terms as well.

I've never claimed Obama to be anything more than the first non-white president we've had.

So your attempt to point out my point is a greater failure than your efforts to be funny.

The only other claim I've made is that Rmoney is not going to the Great Savior either.

We don't have a viable candidate this election who is going to put Nation before Self and Recovery before Corporate Sponsors.

We need to recognize that the deficit and government spending actually haven’t caused our problems; that while getting them under control is desirable, faulting them is an intentional distraction. What has caused all of our problems and what will continue should we return to “more of the same”, Bush-Cheney style, is the exploitation by the few, encouraged by permissive “puppet” politicians, with the few always walking away with substantial gains and leaving the significant losses to everyone else. Remember what “more of the same” means with their gross dishonesty and stubborn focus always being on benefit for only “the few” (1%) while insultingly taking the majority (99%) for granted.

Remember: multiple tax cuts heavily favoring the wealthy; Global Warming stated as not a problem; private accounts for Social Security; ignored warnings before 9/11 when concentrating on Iraq; trumped up justification for attacking Iraq; abandoned efforts in Afghanistan; Afghanistan presented as secure; the false coalition with America paying 95%+; Iraqi oil money never paying for the war as was proposed; pressures put on the intelligence community to create justification; including the departure from Geneva Convention rules; frequent misrepresentations to manipulate public opinion; no bid contracts ($100B’s) to favored vendors; responsibility for port security offered to Dubai Ports; excusing the growing deficit and unfavorable trade deficit; the apathetic reaction to the hurricane Katrina aftermath; blocking bringing less costly American drugs back into the US; vengefully exposing the CIA agent's identity; squelching the “wiretapping without court order” story; falsely raising the security threat level before 2004 election; excessive deregulation and the lack of any responsible oversight, favoring the few and resulting in unchecked greed, gross dishonesty and total self-indulgence eventually bringing down the financial industry; encouraging the exportation of American jobs and taxes; the sociopathic GWBush falsely presented as a “born again Christian”; ... on and on.

And then since Bush-Cheney: the Republican’s continual belligerent concentration on their political ambitions at any cost to the people; stubbornly obstructing and faulting all efforts to address problems; irresponsibly withholding any bipartisan cooperation; implementing, directing and financing the Tea Party movement with their constant screams for “more”; like the ‘Swift-boat” propaganda and the manipulation of the Christian block, all aimed to deceptively excite and sway public opinion; their insultingly offering “puppet” candidates ready to perform as their “strings are pulled”; Cheney’s, Rove’s, Norquist’s, the Koch brothers, SuperPacs and other groups, using “the money’s” unlimited funds to first, coerce and intimidate their own to assure total unity, and second, to con the people and manipulate public opinion; Romney’s and Ryan’s flagrant dishonesty and aggressive con in offering nothing but criticism of Obama and their deceptive request to “trust me”, as they actually again concentrate on serving only the 1% ... on and on, without any conscience, with complete disregard for responsibility and always aimed to just benefit “the few”, their supporters and controllers, while insultingly just taking the people for granted as “pawns” to be conned, used and abused.

It is said the current Republican / Tea Party is owned and controlled by “the money” and that they are incapable of honestly and responsibly governing; the last twelve years have clearly substantiated that. To get the Grande Ole Party back, once again with a sincere concern for the people, the stranglehold “the money” has on them has to be broken. The only way to accomplish that is to firmly and totally reject what they have become - to completely reject their propaganda and to totally reject their “puppet” politicians.

Well Ms Smith ain't that just the pot calling the kettle black? Perhaps we Republicans are doing what the Obama campaign has doing because I stil hear the President talking about Big Bird, bayonets, Romanesia etc instead of addressing the Libya deaths, unemployment, the deficit, the stagnet economic growth, his plans for the next 4 years per a budget plan etc....oh I guess I should also say that I am not being a racist since I used the old "pot calling the kettle black" saying.

More than all the presidents. No need for any congress anymore. Sorry if people do not think for themselves and glad I was taught by my parents to THINK and understand that everyone needs to study for themselves and quit watching tv. Remember, there are very few NEWS stations left. Only talking people with their own opinions. Surely will be glad when December comes and people can start to think about spending money for Christmas.

Just a reminder, THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO MONEY. THE PEOPLE HAVE THE MONEY. PLEASE SPEND MY MONEY WITH CARE. DON'T TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE IT TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE THEIR OWN. IT'S NOT MY FAULT. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT MAKE OR HAVE ANY MONEY. THE PEOPLE WHO EARN THE MONEY DO. SIMPLE FACT THAT PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT. TAKE FROM US WHO EARNED IT AND GIVE IT TO PEOLE WHO JUST TAKE, TAKE AND TAKE. THE NEW AMERICAN CULTURE.
