Subscribe to RSSVice President Joe Biden earned ridicule from foes Saturday when he twice referred to the Democratic Virginia Senate candidate by the wrong first name.
Biden began his remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 at the Lynchburg Armory by praising former Gov. Tim Kaine with the correct name but later declared two times that he is "a big Tom Kaine fan."
Kaine is running against Republican George Allen for the seat vacated by Democrat Sen. Jim Webb, who is retiring.
The vice president went on to offer similar compliments for ex-Rep. Tom Perriello, whose first name is Tom.
A Mitt Romney campaign spokesman immediately highlighted the error.
“Vice President Biden forgot the name of his own Virginia Democratic Senate nominee and he wants voters to forget about President Obama’s failed economic policies and lack of a real agenda for a second term," Ryan Williams wrote in a campaign statement.
In Lynchburg, Biden also accused Republicans of hoping for lapses of memory.
"They're counting on the American people to have an overwhelming case of amnesia on November the 6th," he said.
Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith also responded.
"Once again, Mitt Romney’s campaign is showing their focus on the big things — like one letter in Tim Kaine's name," Smith said. "If they put as much time and effort into their policies, maybe we'd finally have an answer for how they'd pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted to the very wealthy."
Kaine, the victim of the flub, responded in a tongue-in-cheeck tweet later Saturday.
"Thanks to the VPOTUS for the shout out today. I love Jay Biden!" he joshed via Twitter.

I think Biden got it right when he spoke a couple weeks ago. "The middle class has been decimated over the past 4 years." Biden should join the Romney campaign... he's our best spokesman. At least he's honest when he flubs.

Frightening. This is the guy you democrats put into office 4 years ago along with Obama. He would be our president if anything happened to Obama. This is the same guy who would replace Obama should he be re-elected. Biden is one very strong reason that a vote for Obama is not a wise vote. Obama's failed policies and Joe Biden are ... we need a change.
Harry, if you remember back 4 years ago, Biden looked like a reasonable choice compared to Bush, Cheney, McCain, or Whatsherface. We were thinking change from the Republican failures of policy would be good. What we did not realize was the determination of the Koch Bros and their plot to create a Tparty.
Today we are faced with another choice. Do we want to return foreign and domestic policy to the team that gave us two wars and a collapsed economy? Obama/Biden still look a lot better than that.

If only liberals understood economics and why our economy collapsed. It collapsed because the housing market crashed. Why did the housing market crash? Because the upswing in market value for about 5 years was artificially and dramatically higher than it should have been. What caused this unrealistic bubble? Two Things
1) The Community Reinvestment Act, signed into law by Jimmy Carter. This law forced lending institutions to dramatically relax the credit standards, income requirements and loan to value ratios so that "poor" (code for minorities) people could buy homes instead of renting.
2) The repeal of the Glass Steigal Act by Bill Clinton. Glass Steigal prevented banks from taking YOUR money that they held in savings accouts and investing it in speculative endeavors like mortgage backed securities. With Glass Steigal, they could only invest their own profits. When it was repealed, they could take YOUR money and risk it. When the mortgages all started going bad, it was YOUR money that was lost, not the banks money. That's why the banks were bailed out because it was YOUR money that was lost and they didn't have enough to cover your lost money.
Democratic policies both. And both were failures. And that is what set up this collapse.

Did Romney say that 47% of the people are useless? I think he said that he would never win the 47% of the population that do not pay income taxes because it is in their best interest to vote for the party that loves entitlements. That statement is honest and is the truth. People on the dole are not likely to vote Republican so why should Romney campaign to them? It's like when Romney went to the NAACP knowing full well that he wasn't winning votes there.

As entertaining as Joe Biden is with all of his bloopers (and he is entertaining), the biggest SNAFU to come out of this administration, if you don't count Obama's failed economic agenda, is this mess in Benghazi.
Obama is banking on the fact that all of the details will not come out until AFTER the election. He is counting on NBC, ABC, CBS et al, to NOT investigate this and they are of course, complying. Damned inconvenient for them that CNN didn't play along and found the ambassadors journal.
Also damned inconvenient that the whistle blowers are getting their story out on FOX. Now, before you lefties go crazy about FOX, ask yourselves this: What are the chances that if these same whistle blowers were giving this same information to NBC that it would EVER see the light of day? Zero, I would say. In fact, it would not surprise me if they were contacted and this information was buried by NBC execs.
WHEN THE FACTS OF THIS COME OUT, BEFORE OR AFTER THE ELECTION, WITH OR WITHOUT OBAMA IN THE WHITE HOUSE, NBC will have proven themselves to be totally irrelevant as a journalistic enterprise.
Isn't there ANYONE at NBC interested in getting a Pulitzer over this? I hope Catherine Herridge at FOX does.
Benghazi would have a lot more teeth if Condi weren't such a respected foreign affairs mind and made her comments on the only network not caught up in the great left wing conspiracy.

GOP Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan visited Cleveland Browns practice with former secretary of state Condoleeza Rice.
Here’s what happened, according to Yahoo sports:
Rice, a longtime Browns fan who counts the great Jim Brown as one of her sports heroes, had no trouble identifying everybody on the field. Ryan, who’s from Wisconsin, had a few issues when trying to discern the difference between quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy.
Ryan talked about how he remembered Weeden playing well for Oklahoma State last year … but he was pointing to McCoy, who attended Texas, at the time.
“You always had your helmet on,” he said to Weeden, in an attempt to explain himself.
