Subscribe to RSSVice President Joe Biden earned ridicule from foes Saturday when he twice referred to the Democratic Virginia Senate candidate by the wrong first name.
Biden began his remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 at the Lynchburg Armory by praising former Gov. Tim Kaine with the correct name but later declared two times that he is "a big Tom Kaine fan."
Kaine is running against Republican George Allen for the seat vacated by Democrat Sen. Jim Webb, who is retiring.
The vice president went on to offer similar compliments for ex-Rep. Tom Perriello, whose first name is Tom.
A Mitt Romney campaign spokesman immediately highlighted the error.
“Vice President Biden forgot the name of his own Virginia Democratic Senate nominee and he wants voters to forget about President Obama’s failed economic policies and lack of a real agenda for a second term," Ryan Williams wrote in a campaign statement.
In Lynchburg, Biden also accused Republicans of hoping for lapses of memory.
"They're counting on the American people to have an overwhelming case of amnesia on November the 6th," he said.
Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith also responded.
"Once again, Mitt Romney’s campaign is showing their focus on the big things — like one letter in Tim Kaine's name," Smith said. "If they put as much time and effort into their policies, maybe we'd finally have an answer for how they'd pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted to the very wealthy."
Kaine, the victim of the flub, responded in a tongue-in-cheeck tweet later Saturday.
"Thanks to the VPOTUS for the shout out today. I love Jay Biden!" he joshed via Twitter.

You know your campaign is in trouble when its big attack is that Joe Biden, who probably hasn't slept more then a couple hours in days, said the name Tom instead of Tim. Romney can't even remember what his own campaign message is, and they are worried about this? You make me laugh GOP.

And my favorite was his lambasting of the President's economic policies after the GDP was announced as growing 2% yesterday.
"This is what 4 years of Obama's policies have produced",he said.
Well Mittens if 2% growth disqualifies the President in his attempt to be re-elected in your mind then considering that Massachusetts' economy NEVER grew by even as much as 2% in any given year under YOUR stewardship as Governor then I'll be awaiting your announcement that you're dropping out of the race.
Oh wait,I forgot. Mittens has an excuse for a GDP record in Massachusetts that is WORSE then the Presidents...

And when he himself changes his ideology for his own campaign and his voters have tried to figure out which direction he goes, and one more thing, a little bit worry, for he has just realized the change this week, at the end of the campaign.

The difference was Romney lied about that binders full of women story. It was not his initiative to hire women and while he hired a few to start when requested to by a local women's organization who had organized the binders of resumes by women, by the end of his term he had only 29% in his administration.
Biden made a slip and messed up a guy's name. It was not like he lied.
