GOP pounces on Biden flub in Virginia

Vice President Joe Biden earned ridicule from foes Saturday when he twice referred to the Democratic Virginia Senate candidate by the wrong first name.

Biden began his remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 at the Lynchburg Armory by praising former Gov. Tim Kaine with the correct name but later declared two times that he is "a big Tom Kaine fan."

Kaine is running against Republican George Allen for the seat vacated by Democrat Sen. Jim Webb, who is retiring.

The vice president went on to offer similar compliments for ex-Rep. Tom Perriello, whose first name is Tom.

A Mitt Romney campaign spokesman immediately highlighted the error.

“Vice President Biden forgot the name of his own Virginia Democratic Senate nominee and he wants voters to forget about President Obama’s failed economic policies and lack of a real agenda for a second term," Ryan Williams wrote in a campaign statement.

In Lynchburg, Biden also accused Republicans of hoping for lapses of memory.

"They're counting on the American people to have an overwhelming case of amnesia on November the 6th," he said.

Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith also responded.

"Once again, Mitt Romney’s campaign is showing their focus on the big things — like one letter in Tim Kaine's name," Smith said. "If they put as much time and effort into their policies, maybe we'd finally have an answer for how they'd pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts weighted to the very wealthy."

Kaine, the victim of the flub, responded in a tongue-in-cheeck tweet later Saturday.

"Thanks to the VPOTUS for the shout out today. I love Jay Biden!" he joshed via Twitter.

If it were just this one gaffe, maybe she'd have a point.

So, what is new ? Heck, Mr. Biden doesn't even know what State he is campaigning in.

Sounds sorta like Mr. Obama in the 2008 campaign...."let me see now, I have visited 57, no...make that 58 States with one more to go."

And these two elected officials are supposed to be running our country.

Republicans are pretty petty, worried that Biden got a name wrong, when everything about Romney's economic policy is wrong.

How about Romney changing his views over and over again.

To me, that's what Americans should be interested in.

Eric-913730....."To me, that's what Americans should be interested in."

No, Erico.....the American people are more interested in Mr. Obama's FAILED domestic and International policies and his "intentions" on moving "Forward" to transform America after he says he needs four more years to complete the promises he made in 2008.

Of course we could flashback to one of his 2008 campaign speeches:

So, Mr. Obama's lies are not to be discussed ?

Yep, here is Mr. Obama's voter base:

Joe Biden has been working his tail off this campaign. He also gave a very moving eulogy at Sen. McGovern's funeral. These things are going to happen at this point of the campaign. When you actually, you know -campaign. After all, it wasn't Biden who lied. About just about everything.

Please let us know when GOP supporters will pounce on Romney for lying to people in Ohio about Chrysler. We're waiting.

Joe Biden has been a tremendous help in this campaign. He supports all that is good for America.

Who cares what republicans say. No one should. No one, and I mean no one needs nor seeks their approval from Republicans on how the Obama campaign is being run.

Joe Biden. So glad he's on our side. Ryan? No thanx.

So again. Any word on how republicans feel about Romney lying to their faces?

This is silly. All of the candidates have been campaigning for ...ever. They must be tired and when they go to two or three states in a day it's not a surprise that they might make a mistake.

Having said that, Mark Dayton came to my high school when he was running for something in the 80s. He said how happy he was to be at Visitation. He was at Derham Hall. I haven't voted for him since because of that. Petty? Probably but someone could have told him which school he was at. The guys running for president and vice president have been covering a lot more ground.

By the way! In case you have all forgotten!

Romney didn't know the names of politicians he worked with here in MA. And that folks is the god's honest truth. He knew no one's names. And he used his own elevator so he didn't have to speak with them.

Slips of the tongue are gonna happen after a long campaign. Assuming you do campaign.

Joe Biden is a down to earth extremely nice person who has served us well as our vice president.

And we have his back.

Too bad Romney has no one's back. But hey, that's the republican voters' problem, not ours.

At least this time it's not a statement that has deliberately been taken out of context by the right and then repeatedly reported incorrectly until it has been accepted as the truth. In that sense, it's actually kind of refreshing. Other than that, why is this even a story?

Ha ha! I just returned from the grocery store, and at the check-out counter the new weekly national tabloid has the headline, "Obama knows he will lose the election, and told Michelle it was her fault!" Inside, the article said that he blames her extravagant spending on trips, shopping vacations, etc.

Of course, it has NOTHING to do with him at all. Doesn't matter about the first debate, the VP debates, lying about Libya, his ill-advised comment on Trayvon Martin, and on and on and on.

Well, poor Michelle, based on his history of blaming, you were way over due!

THIS JUST IN. OHIO IS NOT A SWING STATE, THEREFORE...

Nate Silver: There are no precedents in the database for a candidate losing with a two- or three-point lead in a state when the polling volume was that rich... It is misinformed to refer to Ohio as a toss-up. Mr. Obama is the favorite there, and because of Ohio's central position in the Electoral College, he is therefore the overall favorite in the election.

Not that the media is interested in reporting this, but I think perhaps Romney falsely claiming that Chrysler was going to move Ohio jobs to China was a somewhat more serious flub than Biden getting a first name wrong. Biden made a minor mistake. Romney seized on some garbage he read on a right wing blog about Chrysler in order to scare voters. Which is worse?

You Repugs have to be pretty desperate to make an issue over one letter difference in the Democratic Senate nominee's first name. This just shows how upset you are because you KNOW that in 10 days President Obama will be reelected and the Senate will remain Democratice. Furthermore, the Democrats will pick up seats in the House. Repugs reek desperation. I'm laughing at you twice over losers that you are so upset and desperate as to even acknowledge this. What a bunch of pathetic, cry-baby losers.

How stupid is this man?

Four years ago, the media was all about Sarah Palin being "one heartbeat away from the Presidency".

Yet, Joe Biden somehow escapes this criticism?

Well I'LL say it:

Joe Biden, a career politician, a plaigiarizer, an arrogant buffoon, a man of below average intelligence, a man on the wrong side of every issue, is ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY FROM THE PRESIDENCY.

A vote for Obama/Biden is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Another Romney "flub" that most of the media is studiously ignoring is that Romney was in Ames, Iowa this week trash-talking Obama's stimulus measures while he was standing in front of a factory that had received over $600,000 in stimulus funds. A trifle more embarrassing than referring to someone named "Tim" as "Tom" don't you think? Like Romney's bogus Chrysler scare-story, this seems to have been flushed down the corporate media's memory hole, too.

Dear Ohio Voters:

If Obama is reelected, Biden is one heartbeat away from running this nation. There are huge international risks if he makes one of his gaffes with those leaders. It would be one thing if it was only Tim/Tom, but can you imagine him making a statement like "Ya'll back in _____," to some of the nations? Eh gad, what a thought.

Joe Biden may not be an eloquent speaker. If you'd refresh your brain back to the VP debates, nor is Paul Ryan. However, Joe Biden has this country first and foremost at heart and if that situation arose, he'd have a TON more people to advise and assist than Paul Ryan would.

Obama is like a home builder who had four years to build a house. After the four years and creating a mountain of debt, the house is still waiting to be built. Yet all the builder can do is criticize the builder who wants to replace him.

He accused the President on Libya - BEFORE the attack even happened.

Then, he doubled down his wild comments.

So not only was Romney the 47%-hater --- epicly UNpatriotic ---- he also failed the COC test bigtime.

Boring (zzzz).

VP Joe Biden has been a heart beat away for four years already (oooh, scary), and since President Obama is so young and fit there is no need to fear monger. On the other hand, look at old man Romney and how Paul Ryan would be a heart beat away -- And though not an airhead like Sarah Palin, Ryan is just as extreme.

The Liberals don't care who they vote for as long as they keep pouring more and more of our hard earned tax dollars into unsustainable failing entitlements. Their obsession with social and economic justice should be simply dismissed as nonsense.

But then again when they all live in their little "Life of Julia" fairy tale we can only pity them and hope someday they grow up and become ambitious enough to be more than mediocre.

I love how "Obamasuckonit" calls anyone a coward. How about a draft dodging coward who found every reason not to serve his nation? Romney/Ryan can suck it and they will certainly continue to be the cowards that they are. And just to boot, Romney showed his five loser sons how to be a great coward, just like good ol' dad.

Biden has more integrity in his left nut than the whole right side of this ticket and he has forgotten more foreign policy knowledge than any of Romney & Ryans little buttplugs could ever know. They need to stick to their divisive talk and pissing on the 47% of Americans that they thinks are trash. I'll take an administration that wants 100% of America to succeed, even if you do not.

And another reason Romney is a huge coward: He still endorses a douchebag like nutty Murdoch who seems to think that it is "Gods will & gift" to have a rape victim be forced to give birth to her rapist's seed. Perhaps a few more of the republicans moms, wives, and daughters need a visit from some of these rapists to make them eat their words. Coward for not renoncing his endorsement and just shows the lack of integrity and moral courage to call a wrong a wrong.

“For a long time now, there's been too much secrecy in this city. The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That era is now over. Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information but those who seek to make it known.”

Steve, many of us who support the President do remember his statements and promises. We also remember that Congress and it's members are sworn in to defend the Nation and to follow the Constitution.Perhaps I missed the section of the Constitution that says that it is NOT TREASON to undermine their President and it is completely acceptable to plot and scheme to thwart any & every attempt to do their job and truly represent their constituents like they were elected to do.

Unfortunately far too many politicians care nothing about the people that they are supposed to represent, only the corporate masters who have now been granted person-hood and flood the capital with the dirty money. Show me where Romney & Ryan have shown any inkling of transparency and maybe I can understand why anyone would vote for such a-holes. Where are those tax returns again Mitt? I'm still baffled why anyone in the Middle Class would support a group that considers most of them the "Leeches of the 47%". I'll continue to support my current President and Commander-In-Chief.

How about a draft dodging coward who found every reason not to serve his nation?

I'm sure you're talking about Joe "Bite Me" Biden, right? You know, the vice president who received 5 deferments for Vietnam because of a mythical case of childhood asthma that never prohibited him from playing football in high school or college or being a Lifeguard. The same asthma that he never mentioned in his own memoirs.

Hypocrite!

Where are those tax returns again Mitt?

He provided the required 2 years of tax returns.

Face it, you limp-wristed Liberals are so envious of his success you can't see straight. If he gives you 4 years you’ll want 8, if he gives you 8 you’ll want 16. All you hope to do is find some dirt so you can demonize his success. Just like that pathetic attempt with his cutting some guys hair in high school as a prank.

It's a shame you have all bought into the delusion that all you can attain in life is to be middle-class. Not that there's anything wrong with being middle class.

I'll wager you never grew up wishing to be middle-class. Everyone wants to be rich when they grow up. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way. It's not wrong to be successful and rich, it is wrong to envy someone’s success. It shows how shallow and insignificant you have allowed yourself to become.

We all know you Liberals who worship at the altar of big-government and allow yourselves to submit to Barrack Husseins class-warfare have no ambition, self-respect or pride left. Just because you can't be competitive in life shouldn't cause you to demonize those that can. Your accusations of greed are just projections of your own embarrassment.

Greed isn’t someone wanting to keep more of what they earn, its people demanding a greater share of money that someone else has earned.

I'll vote for anyone who will try to improve my standard of living ...without destroying someone else’s!

Try to grow up Spanky.

You know, the vice president who received 5 deferments for Vietnam because of a mythical case of childhood asthma

A guy just doesn't tick off a box on a form that says *have asthma* & is magically granted a deferment from the draft, yknow. They're examined & tested by military drs, not their own dr, if there is reason to believe a medical condition could interfere w/ his ability to perform military duties & have them rated 4F.

The military marches & runs. A lot. Can't send a guy into a firefight w/ his M16 clutched in one hand & his inhaler in the other. It's a little hard to aim that way.

If it was legit enough for an armed forces dr to accept it, who are you to question it?

Romney, on the other hand, received FOUR deferments. (Dick Cheney got FIVE.) One for his *missionary work* in France, & one for ea degree he earned. The man was in college until he was 30 & had 3 kids, just to dodge the draft! Romney never held a job until he was 30. His father supported his wife & kids, not him. Talk about an entitled moocher.

The man is senile - do you want him a heart beat from the Presidency ?. He thinks were are fighting in Iran (not Afghanistan) and often doesn't know what State he is, in. My God use some common sense -- the 25th Amendment would allow us to get him out of office, BUT IT WOULD TAKE MORE TIME THAN THE COUNTRY CAN BARE, and our enemies would take the opportunity to jump down our throats.

Look at what an ineffectual President did in Libya -- Biden could be worse.

A vote for Obama is a vote for Biden. Sorry folks but JFK got assassinated and we got JBJ, an incompetent, who lied to congress as to the Gulf of Tonkin, escalated the Vietnam war (for no reason), raped the Social Security Trust Fund and commenced the destruction of this nation leaving more dead behind than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

We don't need Biden (@ 70 years) who is losing it. Do you really need a senile (Nero) as POTUS.

Bo: You forgot to add in there that fact that the dems have voted to raise taxes on the middle class! The House passed legislation to keep the middle class taxes that same and the dems want to increase it. That's the only reason why they are looking at higher taxes next year. So, unless they change their minds, you can thank the dems for increasing taxes!

I suppose that also explains why the Obama and Biden conveniently forget that it is there policies that have kept unemployment every month above what the highest month of what unemployment was under the Bush years. That's a full 8 years of lower unemployment each and every month! You'd think that as much as Obama has doctored the figures he'd be able to show one month as being lower than the highest month of the Bush years. But, ol' Joe and the 'Bam still want your vote so they can do 4 more years of the same.

Republicans are pretty petty, worried that Biden got a name wrong, when everything about Romney's economic policy is wrong.

How about Romney changing his views over and over again.

To me, that's what Americans should be interested in.

Yet when Ryan makes a mistake about his marathon time the dems pounced on him calling him a liar, etc...

If you want to talk about someone changing their views "over and over," you might want to ask why Barry was for gay marriage in 2006, but then not for it in 2008, and then, magically for it again in 2012.

Or why he campaigned on getting rid of the Patriot Act in 2008, and then extending it in 2009.

Or why he promised to close Gitmo, and then kept it open.

Or why he said he'd "put on a pair of comfortable shoes" and march with labor if there were any problems, and then couldn't be found in Madison, WI.

Romney supporters - Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.

FACT - NO successful businessman has ever been a good president. Mitt's record in MA. speaks for itself. If you're a business owner and think things are bad now just wait until Romney closes the loopholes effectively raising your taxes substantially. MA. became the 7th most expensive state to do business in, under Romney. Property taxes skyrocketed, fee's went up on anything he could find, and before the end of his term he was looking at closing loopholes on everyone else but decided it would be a bad idea with his plans to run for President.

The heart of the matter is Romney/Ryan is bad for the economy non-partisan groups have stated so, shrinking the GDP, is not a good thing people. They are bad for women's rights, they believe in withholding liberties from some people in the US and they are itching to start a war with Iran. All these liberals defending Obama/Biden on a Romney joke and saying it isn't serious. Well, the Benghazi attack was serious as Obama allowed Americans to die. He turned his back and let them DIE...at the hands of muslim extremists. Troops were 1 mile away. More troops were 2 hours away. The attack lasted 7 hours.

Obama betrayed American lives and then tried to cover it up blaming a movie. Emails prove that they knew and did nothing.

So, MSNBC is so liberal, right? Yet it seems like all they do is repeat republican attacks, relevant or not.

So, here we have a full story about how Biden gets a guys first name wrong - OMG - Twice! Wow, the election turns on this issue.

Yet Romney says on the stump that Jeep is going to send its production to China. This is a story that has no basis in any kind of reality, and prompted the CEO of Chrysler to refute it outright in an open letter, in which he says the opposite - that Jeep is planning to add more than 1,000 jobs to US production. And THEN Romney cuts an ad to run in Ohio which says ... that Jeep is going to send its production to China.

So let's see, that makes Romney's ad a groundless, baseless, refuted, outright lie. Not a half-truth, not an arguable interpretation, not a mischaracterization, but a bald-faced lie to the voters to get votes. And more, a lie that is provably so by a couple quick phone calls by any brain-dead journalist. And yet more, one which relates to jobs, the economy, and Romney's credibility - all central points in the election.

Anybody see any news stories on that here on MSNBC? Guess it's not as relevant to the election as Biden getting some guys name wrong - OMG - twice!

Apparently, you don't care that they watched as it happened and allowed 4 Americans to die when help was available.?

The only thing your comment did was make me question your patriotism. America should come before any individual...I don't care what party you support.

Seems that someone-- whose name I won't mention-- seems to forget that when Mutt Robme went to England for the Olympics he pulled a goof and made some snotty comment about the English preparations for the Olympics. Then he continued his travels and continued his snotty criticism about each country he was in. His only foreign policy experience is moving jobs to China and hiding his money in foreign countries.

Hopeful American:: You said "A too huge percentage of our population is worthless and unable to take care of themselves! They ARE moochers and the rest of us working hard are sick and tired of them sitting around collecting a check." I certainly hope that YOU don't live long enough to get to be a disabled senior citizen and not able to work any longer. I know how it feels to be a senior citizen and unable to work for a living.

Yes, I collect a check. I am unable to work for a living and I still have to eat somehow-- I am still on the right side of the grass and I have to eat.

When YOU get to my age and am unable to work for a living, I guess you would rather starve to death than accept help. That is fine for you, but I don't care to starve to death. I'm managing thank you-- without your help.

I'm not worthless tho. Even my age and my disabilities don't keep me from volunteering. I don't have to stand much, when necessary I can get up and walk my stiffness out. I can walk slowly as I must do-- and no one minds. My mind is still alert-- which is more than I will say for you.

Susie, the problem is NOT you. You say you cannot work and I'm willing to believe you. The problem is the hundreds and hundreds of thousands who ARE capable of working but don't (or won't). If you truly need help, then you are welcome to it. If anyone is capable of doing anything, they should be doing it.

There was once a midwestern town that examined all the welfare cases in their town and discovered that 95% were capable of working, so they provided jobs for them. The town had gangs with shovels walking down the street digging holes and another gang following the first gang filling the holes back in. Other folks who could not dig holes were given jobs sorting papers or mailing tax bills or doing something to contribute to the wellbeing of the town. In less than a year, the program came to a screeching halt because our beloved court system declared that these "workers" were being denied their rights.

All of the "entitlement" programs offered by our government were never intended to have any kind of permanent membership list. They were intended to provide temporary assistance to folks that needed to be helped temporarily. Even Social Security was never intended to provide the sole retirement income for our citizens; it was always a supplement to what folks had set aside for themselves.

Please be well and be safe and healthy as you seem to need the help. Othwerwise, folks need to get up and return themselves to the real American dream: the pride and honor of knowing that what has been achieved by every one of us has been because of hard work and desire, not the product of ever-increasing government handouts and wealth redistributions.

Stand up Joe! Oh, I guess that was earlier! BTW, EEngineer, the issue with Obama lies is not that he has told them, but, that the liberal press refuses to EVER bring them to light! He could call the sky red and the ocean dry and the press would parrot whatever he said. MSN and the rest of the liberal establishment mass media (or lemmings as I affectinately call them) may as well be in the Obama reelection campaign! It is the same with all Democrats, remember it took the National Enquirer to blow up the John Edwards sex scandal! Clinton could have been found in an orgy with 20 sixteen-year-olds and the press would have said that he was trying to "impress" values on the girls. And how about how Teddy Kennedy managed to rise so high after he left his date "high and dry" (so to speak)! If you don't think that the press is in Obama's corner you are either a liberal or just stupid! (Or maybe both!)

Is this really a big deal? Tom/Tim? I find people sometimes refer to me a Mark without even noticing since Mike and Mark are both common names and in a given groups there are usually a few of both Mikes and Marks around. It's not a big deal unless it's in a note or whatever. These are easy mistakes to make especially when one is tired, distracted, or engaged in what they are talking about. Getting a last name different is worse.

Anyway, Romney last week gave a stump speech about how the stimulus didn't create any jobs, except he gave it at a company that received $700k in stimulus money and did create many jobs and grew their business significantly. Now that's a gaffe. The plant managers and workers were joking about that big time. And that was a prepared statement from a campaign team that clearly didn't do their homework. Or how about Romney warning that Jeep was going to close plants and move jobs overseas, which Jeep had to then deny as being untrue with no plans to do anything like that. Again. a talking head not knowing that the prepared speech given to him by his team was not fact checked and full of distortions and lies. And. what about the GOP candidates who get applause for saying Osama instead of Obama supposedly by mistake?

Yeah, Biden is in a real hole on this one. Get real. The GOP is getting desperate and it shows.

the liberal press... now that's funny!

The biggest round of bitching I remember was when they tried to pin the recession on Obama. "Everyone knows the recession is Obama's fault but the liberal press won't acknowledge it!".

When the American people weren't stupid enough to buy that, then it was "Well, maybe he didn't cause it but he is making it worse and the liberal press just won't print the truth".

When the American people didn't buy that either and it was becoming painfully obvious that things were getting better... well, same old story - it must be the liberal press brainwashing people to believe something different than whatever the conservative truth of the day is.

It's been a long campaign with more gaffs and goof-ups than most, but if this is the worst we have to worry about in this election then we must have the world by the tail . . . ahhh, nope, just checked and we don't!

Anybody care to explain how Romney will pay for his $5 trillion tax cut, or how Obama will make nice with congress and they can get something done, or why so many conservative folks seem to have forgotten what it was like when women were disenfranchised from having a voice in things that matter to them and all of us, or . . . If yes to any of the above that isn't a partisan rant, then I'm really interested.

The shrillness of the campaign is so over the top now that I'm just waiting for the darned thing to be over. I do want Obama/Biden to win, but both parties have gone ape $hit now.

That such poop is news is . . . well, poo. And the party hacks debating this are the guardians of that pile of poo. I get the nature of these threads and self-expression that occurs here, but the party professions just really tick me off. It's enough to make gal swear! (lol)

IF in fact this was true what a BRILLIANT suggestion. Open up on a US embassy building, presumably with some US diplomatic staff and other supporting personnel. present with an A 130 gunship. My understanding of the firepower from one of these aircraft is that they pretty much indiscriminately destroy and / or kill anything in their line of fire. Yeah the embassy attackers, if still on site, would have been dead but so would have anybody attached to the embassy or trying to carry out rescue or fire fight on the site. The drones, again if present, might have been a bit more discriminating, if the attackers were stupid enough to congregate in one location were a bomb could have gotten them but most drone strikes target well researched and surveilled individuals and / or locations not rapidly changing situations as this embassy attack was. Oh and by the by let's just piss the evolving Libyan government by conducting an attack on their soil.

.... YOU WANT TO BLAME OBAMA FOR WHAT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE EAST? Not to discount the American loss of those four men killed ... May God bless them and their families ....

THIS IS WHAT BUSH DID or DIDN'T DO ON AMERICAN SOIL ....

        What Bush Knew Before Sept.11

"We were trying to figure out what they (al Qaeda) would do. We never had specifics about time, place, MO (method of operation)."
        U.S. intelligence official, commenting anonymously.

President Bush was told in the months before the Sept. 11 attacks that Osama bin Laden's terrorist network might hijack U.S. passenger planes - information which prompted the administration to issue an alert to federal agencies - but not the American public.

CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin says the warning was in a document called the President's Daily Brief, which is considered to be the single most important document that the U.S. intelligence community turns out. The document did not, however, mention the possibility of planes being flown
        into buildings.

An agent in the FBI's Arizona office did, however, speculate about that, writing in his case notes about Zacarias Moussaoui that Moussaoui seemed like the type of person who was capable of flying an aircraft into the World Trade Center.

It was the observation of an agent taking notes as he thought about his case - an observation whose significance simply did not register at the time.

White House spokesman Ari Fleischer says that while President Bush was told last summer that bin Laden's al Qaeda network might hijack planes, he did not receive information suggesting that airplanes might be used as suicide bombs, as they were on Sept. 11.

Fleischer emphasizes that "until the attack took place, I think it's fair to say that no one envisioned that as a possibility."

The revelation about the president's security briefing comes as House and Senate Intelligence Committee investigators prepare for public hearings beginning next month on whether an intelligence community which spends $30 billion a year should have been able to provide a more specific warning in advance of Sept. 11.

The New York Times reports that an FBI agent in Arizona warned his superiors last summer that bin Laden might be sending students to U.S. flight schools.

Investigators have since Sept. 11 suspected bin Laden's al Qaeda network of masterminding the terror attacks on America, which killed more than 3,000 people.

Republicans don't want to see the bigger picture .... the middle east has been at war since forever ... the attacks on the embassy happened in the middle east .... Bush was for-warned too ... and did nothing and they attacked us AMERICAN SOIL .... HUGE DIFFERENCE .....

        MIDDLE EAST - 4 KILLED

AMERICAN SOIL - 3000 KILLED .... YES REPUBLICANS EXPLAIN THAT ONE .....

MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA .... AND AMERICA VOTE FOR OBAMA 2012

I had never noticed Romney's so called smile before the last debate and it wasn't a real smile it was a smirk that I found disgusting. During that debate I found Obama looks as quite serious not as disgusting as Romney's.

I find it sooooo humorous that Biden is one heartbeat away from the Presidency....scary humorous. That in itself ought to be enough to vote against Obama.

On another front, it is funny that the Obama campaign is putting out messages about "Romney hopes people forget about his last four years" or something to that effect. The funny part is they are saying it like Romney--and not Obama--was the POTUS for the last four years. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

          This adminstration is comical. LOLOLOLOL!!

          I agree.

However, that being said, Palin is not on the ticket this year (nor is Bush BTW). Not sure if you were aware of that. FYI it is Paul Ryan who is the VP candidate. He is a very accomplished Congressman and budget wonk....just what this country needs at this time.

Biden as President compared to Ryan....NOW THAT IS ONE SCARY PROPOSITION! LOLOL

"Palin is not on the ticket this year (nor is Bush BTW)."

I couldn't tell because most of Romney's top adviser's worked for BUSH. 17 of 24 foreign adviser's worked for Bush. You know the ones who claimed; Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, the war in Iraq will be paid for with Iraq oil money, the war will only last 4 to 6 months, Iraq has missiles that can hit America, Bin Laden is friends with Saddam, ALL TOTAL LIES!!!!!!

If Romney wins we will be at war with Iran in 6 months. In 1 year the National Debt will grow by 3 Trillion and Millionaires will get 20% tax cuts. Just who the hell do you think is going to pay for all this? I know you don't believe in facts but if you put the next 10 navy's in the world together they are not as big or powerful as the US Navy. Romney says he will trust the military leaders yet he wants to increase military spending by 2 Trillion more than the military wants. Tax cuts will not pay for increased spending. A simple look back 11 years shows tax cuts cause debt and job loss. 11 years ago we had a surplus and gave tax cuts, 3 more large tax cuts followed each time more debt accrued and more jobs were lost. Simple math, if tax cuts worked to increase federal income Bush would have left office with not just a surplus but a reduced national debt (as he promised in his first state of the union speech).

Thanks for the hard hitting expose!!! This is huge. It may have been the first time someone called another guy by the wrong name!!! Obama is going down over this one, BIG TIME!!!!

How can America trust Obama when his administration doesn't pronounce everybody's name correctly??? Sorry, he has had four years to get this right. It is time to get a 'successful businessman' in there. He'll never flub up like that.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that the reason some people are Romney's ring-kissers is that they never wanted a Democrat-- and a black one at that-- in the White House. They figure the White House is only for white presidents.

The White House is not bigoted-- it will be the home for the qualified person. And I am afraid that Mutt Robme is not the qualified person.

There were 2 Drones overhead sending LIVE VIDEO to the State Dept.,CIA,Pentagon and the White House.

There was NEAR REAL TIME VIDEO sent from the Consulate to the White House,State Dept.,CIA and the Pentagon.

There were emails sent from the Annex and the Consulate to the State Dept.,Pentagon,CIA and the White House naming the attackers and asking for assistance.

The Consulate had been attacked TWICE before the 9/11 attack.

It has been reported that the defenders had caputred 3 of the attackers and were foreced to hand them over to the Libyans.

It is known that there was NOT a protest outside the Consulate prior to the attack. In fact the Ambassador was OUTSIDE the Consulate Walls at 8:40 PM saying good bye to the Turkish Ambassador. The attack began at 9:00 PM or so.

The local Libyans knew who the attackers were and chased them out of Benghazi.

JUST WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED??

All I want is the truth. Isn't that what all Americans should want? Problem is, it is so difficult to have any trust in this current administration given their track record of pushing blame for anything to someone else.

It is quite possible that we dont want to tip our hand at this point so we can go and get the bad guys that killed our ambasador and the others....but you guys keep grasping at non issues- or issues that even if you knew the details you wouldnt be able to do a damn thing about..what you need to be considered about is the constant flip flopping of your man Mitt. This guy is very TRANSPARENT. He changes his mind constantly. Its really hard to know what HIS real position is on anything and his MATH doesnt add up. We are going in the right direction FORWARD.

@slodon#6.6: Too much speculation and not nearly enough substance. By the way, who is giving you these maybes? Emails first said they had it in hand. Libyans ran a terrorist group out a few days after the attack. Don't know whether that group actually committed the attack that killed the Ambassador. Was the attack planned or an opportunity? Don't yet know. How much effect did the attacks in Egypt have on the Libyan attack? Don't yet know. Both Countries have just undergone radical changes. The Countries share a long border. Both just overthrew their former Rulers. Terrorist groups are everywhere attempting to gain power in these two Countries. All situations relative to governing power in these two countries remain quite fluid, even today. The day, or evening, of the attack in Libya, during the actual attack, accounts were very fluid and confusing. All the intelligence agencies have so stated. Additionally, many Egyptians were enraged with the idiotic film being passed around there. All we really know is that 4 people died. American intelligence continues investigating and will tell us what they know in due time. Meantime, everyone needs to shut up, quit using these dead and their families as an excuse to blame the President, because you don't like him, and allow the proper people to find out what happened, who did It, and hopefully, arrest or kill those responsible. Anything else is sorted, and a sorry exploitation of the death of Americans killed while serving their Country.

Lets not lose site of the fact the republican House voted to reduce funding the security for our foreign diplomats. Every Embassy has asked for an increase in security and Congress only allowed for so many security people.
Its time for Republicans to decide; as much as you want to git rid of Obama do you really want Romney and Ryan to destroy this country? Romney " Corporations are People my friends" If that doesn't scare you, he plans on NOT Balancing the Budget for 6 to 8 years or more which means more national debt not less.

Please Mr. Romney explain how you add 7 Trillion to the budget without adding to the debt? That's 5 Trillion in tax cuts the wealthy don't need it and 2 Trillion in defence spending the pentagon doesn't want. Under Reagan the top 1% controlled 7% of the wealth, as of today the top 1% control 24%. Class warfare is in effect and we the 99% are loosing.

When looking at a question on Bush's reaction on 9/11. I saw this post that you anti-Obama right-wingers need to read. All of you saying "what did Obama do" here is what happens in these situations.

"He certainly didn't react immediately. On the other hand, I am not sure that he needs to react within seconds. A president is not elected to be an action man, he is elected to lead the country, the government, and make long term decisions. I would far rather a president who took an hour or two to make the right decision than one who sprang into action with the wrong decision. Instant action is the province of the military, not politicians.

"There was not much Bush could do until he had the facts and gather the facts about just what was going on was the responsibility of those that serve under him. The people who keep criticizing Bush for not doing something seem to forget about something called delegating authority. Presidents don't make decisions about everything that happens in their administrations. They can't. There are simply too many things going on in the country for any one person to keep track of. That is why the President has a cabinet and why his secretaries have staffs under them. To deal with situations as they arise so that those that are higher up the chain of command can deal with larger issues."

For all you folks still whining about Bush. I am not sure how closely you are following this election cycle??? But, I want to let you know that Bush is not running this time around. Some of you seem to think he is and keep referencing his record. However, he has been out of office for four long years and this person named Barack Obama has been the POTUS since.

He has a record of the last four years that we should look at and not some former POTUS who is retired from politics. I mean, I see so many similarities between Obamas record and that of Jimmy Carter that it is eerie. However, I realize that former POTUS is not running so I do not consider any damage he did to the country as pertinent to this election.

Just thought I would let you know.

Yes, Truth Conveyer, Shrub has been out of office for four long years-- but some of us can remember the two UNFUNDED wars he got us into, all our military personnel who were killed, all the civilians who were killed, the military personnel who are still over there in the sandbox, those who came back from there injured. I know about some of those-- I volunteer for veterans, and I can't forget.

And some of us can remember 9/11-- when OSB and his goonies killed all the people who were in the Twin Towers and we lost so many first responders and firefighters who were trying to save people. And those killed at the Pentagon, and those killed in the field who kept the goonies from attacking the White House.

We do know who is the president, but we do remember the mell of a hess that Shrub got us into! I guess you have forgotten what happened on your savior's watch. He might not be the president any longer, but he left many nightmares in many lives.

You're one of the few Hispanics I know of that are not for Obama. Nationally Obama has around 65 to 75% of the Hispanic vote. Gathering from your post are you of Cuban descent? Most Cubans are inherently pro-Republican because they are completely terrified of anything even remotely leaning towards Communism. However there are quite a few Cubans who are voting for Obama again.

However, if you really think that Romney can fix anything you will be in for a bad surprise when nothing changes. The only way anything will change is if Republicans pick up the Senate and that looks to be impossible for them right now. If Romney is voted in the Senate will be where the gridlock takes place. If Obama is elected it will remain to be the House.

However, Obama winning may just humble the House Republicans this time around and make them more reasonable. If Romney wins look for Democrats trying to make him a one term President. Turn about is fair play after all.

With the dizzying schedule of the President and Vice-President I really don't care what republicans find to make a fool of themselves about. We are well aware of the idiocy of Romney with his flim flam waffling about every issue. Women should be very determined to vote against republicans. Anyone who cares about the environment should be very determined to vote against republicans. Everyone who sees the improvements that are being made in spite of the anti-American behavior of the republicans in Congress should want President Obama and Vice-President Biden leading us forward. We definitely want the wealthy to pay more taxes and we want Social Security and Medicare protected. President Obama has been honest and has done all he could to help Americans recover from the republican policies that republicans want to return to. No regulations, no environment protections, no Medicare, no Social Security, no concern for the poor, no honesty or decency in their policies of greed.

Yup.......... which is worse Biden says Tom for Tim or Romney saying Jeep is moving "Everything to China". Jeep called it a lie and said they are building a new factory in Ohio and are adding 1,100 new jobs. Romney standing in front of a corporation that survived because of receiving $700,000+ in stimulus and telling supporters the stimulus did not work!

So Romney will get tough on China, what a laugh. Trump will have to give up his line of cloths sold at Macy's made in China and Sheldon Addelson (donated 34 + million so far to defeat Obama) will have to give up his Billion dollar Casino in China. Bain Cap. will have to sell its factory's in China. Like this will happen.

The country is divided by 2 groups of people that the citizens cannot name or identify in a photo, yet the claim to be experts in the area of politics based on the antics of the talkingheads called "candidates" & "incumbents" who have little or no power over those who put them into the positions they occupy .

ALL of the power in this country is concentrated within the intelligence divisions, which either completely misread Benghazi or outright created it . W/O the intelligence the POTUS is powerless .

Without dependable intelligence openly shared with the POTUS AND a truthful administration

we are bound for more of the same in different odors, colors & heights .

Why isn't MSNBC talking about LIBYA? The administration watched the attack in real-time. Cia requested assistance but the administration denied help and 4 americans died. This is newsworthy. This is news. It harms President Obama so MSNBC refuses to report the news. This is a news outlet, right?

Did ky say Obama watched in real time? NO HE DID NOT!! He said "The administration watched the attack in real-time." Now that means the State Dept.,Pentagon and the CIA were watching along with the White House Staff. People like Hillary,Panetta,Petraeus and Jarret were MOST DIFFENTLY WATCHING!!

BTW. I'll bet that Obama was told about the video feed to the Situation Room. If not he was told about it on his flight to Vegas. He could have watched the 7 hour battle on Air Force One!!

“The mere fact that you have a legal power to keep something secret does not mean you should always use it..."

“I will also hold myself as president to a new standard of openness.... Information will not be withheld just because I say so."

These quotes are from Barack Obama during his last campaign... too bad his supporters never remember what he's said.....

If *you* knew geography, you would know that Iran does not border on Syria. There's a cpl little obstructions along the way from Iran to Syria....namely Iraq & Jordan.

*Sea* is generally used when describing any very lg body of water, incl oceans. It usage does not indicate that Romney was specifically referring to the Mediterranean (which everyone calls just that, not *the sea*).

Iran has unfettered access to the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, & the Indian Ocean in the S/SW. In the N it has the same access to the Caspian Sea. Now true, that is landlocked, but marching thru the little bit of Russia that separates the Caspian from the Black Sea is a lot shorter of a route than trekking thru Iraq, Jordan, & Syria (actually, trekking thru Lebanon after skating thru a sm part of S Syria would make infinitely more sense as that's also a lot shorter route than going thru all of Syria, but then Romney isn't noted for making much sense when it comes to them durned furriners).

Now, it is true you'd need Mediterranean access to get thru the Dardanelles & Straits of Bosphorus to have ships waiting for those tired infantrymen. You really think Egypt isn't going to let Iran thru the Suez Canal? Or if they didn't let them thru (they would have no reason to object if Iran planned ahead b4 there were any declarations of war, so not likely anyway), that sm countries like Morocco & Spain are going to do anything to stop them getting thru the Strait of Gibraltar after tediously trekking around Africa? Turkey has no reason not to let Iran into the Black Sea atm.

At any rate, Romney doesn't know jack about Middle Eastern geography if he doesn't realize Syria isn't on Iran's border.

I had to return b/c I forgot to ans this beaut:

Biden has a son in Libya?? Where? When did he get there?

My, what short memories folk have. This was huge news right b4 the last election.

Biden's elder son (currently the Atty Gen of Delaware) is a major in the Delaware Nat'l Guard. He was deployed to Iraq a mo b4 the election. Despite being the same age as Tagg Romney (42), Biden Jr went & served his yr just like anyone else.

I can only imagine how scared Biden must've been for that 1st yr he was VP. You see, his 1st wife, Nina, & their 3 children were in an horrific car accident. His wife & daughter, Naomi, died; his 2 sons, *Beau* (Jr's nickname) & Hunter, were critically injured. So he'd already lost one child & a spouse in a violent manner, & nearly lost the other 2 kids at the same time. He was then faced with the possibility, for the next 365 long days, of losing his elder son.

I'm sure he could've *pulled strings* to keep Beau safely in the US so that his children wouldn't be without a father, just as Beau & Hunter were w/o a mother until Biden remarried to Jill. But he didn't, & off to Iraq went Beau. Luckily he came back.

5 Romney boys, & not one of them will take the risk of not enjoying that trust fund to the fullest by so much as joining the Nat'l Guard, not even after 9/11.

The only one I have the slightest iota of respect for is Ben, the one who's a dr, has zero interest in politics, & only shows up at political events where it would look odd if he wasn't present to *support* Daddy.

Tagg is a sleazy *capital* mgr like his Daddy b4 him, rents wombs, & wants to punch out the POTUS, so evidently he's inherited Daddy's short fuse. Josh is in *real estate ventures* w/ political aspirations of his own, so unfortunately we haven't seen the last of this family (& they breed like rabbits, even if they have to rent wombs to accomplish it, 18 & counting w/ the grandchildren like they were Duggars). Matt's another sleazy *real estate ventures* type. Craig ponces around as a *music producer* & seems to be able to get off work whenever he pleases to shill in Espanol (Romney thinks he's getting Latino votes from that). Tagg & Matt were old enough to be in Kuwait & they all were old enough to be in Iraq or Afghanistan.

                    *crickets*

Mommy thinks they *served their country* by going on their Mormon missions. Um, no they served their religion, not the US, in that. Ann has said *I sent them away as boys & they returned as men*.

I'd like to see her repeat that to a woman who sent her boy away to the Middle East & never got the chance to have him return as a man. Silly twit.

I am tired of Obama's excuses. We need to stop China from robbing us, get jobs back here and lower taxes on hurting families. If you went to a doctor that didn't heal you wouldn't you go get a better doctor? ...and how exactlly is Romney going to do any better? Cutting taxes on the rich, outlawing abortion, and spending more money on the military is not a job creation strategy... and everything in his laughable "Five Point Plan" were things Bush pushed when he was running for office.

And you're right, I most certainly wouldn't go back to a doctor that failed to heal me... or worse, cut my arm off by accident. Which is exactlly why we can't go back to the policy from four years ago, that cut our arm off in the first place. Obama might not be perfect, but hes doing his best to sew that arm back on... even with the GOP trying to rip it back off at every turn.

One thing I have to say loud and clear after all these months and changes by Romney is if he wins, which I don't think he will, you guys that voted for him deserve it. And no pleading amnesia and I didn't know that til later. Nothing could be more obvious anywhere at anytime and if you choose these two, poor America but. You guys will deserve if it America is that ignorant! Voting in that type of person and government. How can that happen. I don't think it will. It would be mindboggling. I think they need to do a study of why people believe what they do. It is amazing! If it happens I hope the next 4 years go quickly and that we still CAN recover. He scares me and I am not sure what his intention is if he even does. He is a little to cozy with China who people forget is communist and forces people to work. We don't want to be forced to work but oh well if that is what you people want go for it. And of course the money won't go to socialism it will go to China or in the rich peoples pockets.

Just remember Ulysses S. Grant won two terms and the Civil War for Lincoln, and U.S. well known as a boozer and very rye with his humor. Lincoln even said when he heard Grant was winning all those battles, "find out what he drinks and order it for all his officers!" On top of that he was more than kind (and a lot more than he had to be) to Lee and the Rebs when they surrendered.

Drinking was just a execrated rumor, he only drank a little and would not a normal person drink after having to send lots of men to their death and to kill lots of Americans?

The republicans have been acusing the Democrats of picking small insignificant things to hit them with. How about this for an insignificant item??? I still do not understand how anyone can vote for this bunch of repug thugs except that Obama is black. I guess the latest poll that 56% of the voters are prejudiced against blacks is true. They would rather send the country down the drain instead of voting for a good President that saved the country from going into a full depression. I don't think we have come very far in the last 45 years.

You-all seem to forget that if the whites didn't vote for Obozo in 2008, he would NOT have been elected. Get a brain before you fire your rusted thought process.

There were not as many KKK, Patriot or Malitia groups in 2008, this should tell you something. Some people will believe what Karl Rove and the other dumba++es like dopehead russ say if they say it often enough. Shows the mentality of the average redneck. The big oil companies are spending big money to maintain their $4 billion a year tax breaks. Hope you enjoy paying for their big bonuses while your bridges fall down from not being repaired.

Biden makes mistakes, but the GOP is a mistake.
