Yes actually the last debate did matter, to just about everybody except to those in most red states.

Thoughtful thinking Americans knew Romney lied the entire debate, pretending he was a moderate, while this evening he will it spend it with the likes of Cheney and Glenn Beck. Not so moderate after all.

Looks to me like the president is getting very important endorsements. Miami Herald this afternoon. Most of the leaders of the world do not want Mitt as our president because of his lack of foreign policy, obviously.

Romney has Sununu and a bunch of old white guys. That's it.

Yes, the last debate mattered.

The only thing Mitt wanted different in the 3rd debate is horses and bayonets. Other than that, Mitt agreed with the President on most issues - a victory for the President. The president had total command of every important policy as the Commander-in-Chief and Diplomat-in-Chief.

Sirie and thetotas are correct- the only debate that really mattered was the first. Obama was too distracted by the perks of the presidency to bother to prepare- and his campaign's definition of Romney was revealed as a lie for all to see.

The third debate? Well, folks, it's mighty funny that while the snap polls,(when the margin of error is considered), called it a draw- but the focus groups of undecided voters broke for Romney. Well, two of the three were identified as breaking for Romney-including MSNBC's.

Soledad O'Brien would not allow the CNN group to reveal how they were voting- draw your own conclusion.

But, you REALLY want to know if that third debate worked out for Obama? Well, riddle me this:

Would that absolutely unbelievably crass, stupid, I-really-can't-think-of-a-good-enough-adjective, Virginity ad be running if Obama were not desperate?

Would Obama be using gutter language if his internal polls did not show him losing?

Please. All that last debate did was show those watching the president of the United States. And the poseur who has been occupying the job for the last four years.

Aloha, Obama. Enjoy the beaches.

WCA quoting Mitt:

The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.

As has been pointed out repeatedly, the notion of federal guarantee on loans made by the private sector to the auto industry were meaningless because the entire private sector was in a state of collapse. Even Bain Capital was approached for a possible loan and refused. So instead, Obama "wrote a check" to the auto industry and we do NOT have to "kiss the auto industry goodbye" as Romney predicted. Romney was 100% wrong, just like he was wrong today when parroted a scary story about Jeep moving Ohio jobs to China that he read on some right wing blog.

UAWPleeeeeeeease

Houston, The point is no private sector investors were going to touch GM with out the bankruptcy process first extricating those ridiculous union obligations.

The point is that Romney wrote a column pandering to the far right by advising that the government should do nothing and let the private sector handle everything. If his advice had been followed, economists agree that the auto industry would have collapsed and probably dragged the US economy back down into a recession or worse.

Obama made a highly unpopular decision to intervene, not knowing that it would give him a better-than-even chance of winning the critical state of Ohio three years later. And now Romney needs the votes of those workers in the UAW and other workers that you vilify, but his position on the auto bailout is like a millstone around his neck dragging him down, so he's trying desperately to obfuscate -- something he's very good at.

Wow, did anyone see that mangling of America the Beautiful with Meat Loaf? Holy crap. Mitt stands there like he is about to get a prostate exam, and Meat Loaf and a bunch of losers come out and make Roseanne Barr sound like Beverly Sills.

Crap. They tried honking it louder, and their voices broke and screeched. It was the worst hack job masquerading at music I have ever seen. It seriously is funnier than any SNL parody could be, except these were supposed real musicians, a supposed candidate, and supposed supporters.

Listen for yourself, and, PLEASE, Wrongme supporters, come back and tell me how GREAT it was.

Obama proved how just unpresidential he was when he did an interview and referred to Romney as a BSer. I want people to know that he refused extra personnel in Benghazi when it was asked for three times. It was more important for him to be campaigning and he didn't care about Americans in harm's way. He doesn't deserve a second term.

The first debate is where the tide turned completely to Romney/Ryan.

Now Barrack Hussein has to resort to name calling, deflection and parochial projection to avoid his dismal domestic, economic and foreign policies.

Romney was presidential, calm and accurate.

Barrack Hussein, once again, was desperate

There will be more polls today, and they will be breathlessly reported and analyzed, more endorsements and more of the same rhetoric from both sides.

Tigers are down 2-0, despite a gutty performance by Doug Fister. Can they get it together and get back into the series as it moves to Detroit, or will they be looking for the license plate of the truck that ran them over?

We have hot button issues today, rape, racism, religion (and all Benghazi all the time!) ...which will be the outrage du jour?

One thing is certain...Kirsten Gillibrand is probably going to eke out a win in NYS...

Starting next week, I may start to use a differentv aggregator site to draw from to do my daily battleground analysis. The evidence at this point that RCP is not even trying to present an accurate picture and is just shilling for the Republican is pretty overwhelming. You might remember that yesterday, I showed the disparity between the polls used for RCP's average Michigan were incomplete. The polls they used to compute North Carolina's average were incomplete.

It's pretty comprehensive down the line:

Wisconsin - RCP

Rasmussen Reports 10/25 - 10/25 500 LV 4.5 49 49 Tie

Notice that there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to what they choose to exclude other than the fact that the ones they exclude are almost uniformly in the favor of the president. They even chose to ignore 2 subsequent updates by the same polling agency in favor of keeping the 1 poll from that agency that showed a Romney lead among the ones they used to average the state.

I'm not asking for pure objectivity. If you have a favorite, you have a favorite, but at least give me complete and accurate data to work with.

So is there any particular reason they are completely ignoring Grove or cherrypicking which PPP polls they want to use and which ones they don't?

  • 2 votes
#5.2 - Fri Oct 26, 2012 5:52 PM EDT

Grove is another organization with which they have no licensing agreement.

As to PPP- this close to an election, it all comes down to who is paying PPP to poll. For example, PPP gets paid to poll for certain healthcare organizations- and those are considered "non-partisan". When they poll on their own, because they identify themselves as a partisan poll, they do NOT get published. This is a long-standing policy at RCP. They do NOT publish partisan polls within thirty days of an election, be they republican or democratic.

The same would apply to Lake Associates, if RCP had an agreement with them.

There is a very good reason to exclude partisan polls the month prior to an election- they are biased, and can bias those reading them. It's been a good policy- it keeps the credibility of the site free from question.

The third debate did not matter. In fact, the only reason any of these debates mattered was for the opportunity to have Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan speak for themselves, without having President Obama put words in their mouths or paint an incorrect picture of them. What matters most is the last four years and the fact that President Obama not only did not keep his promises of 2008, but in fact worsened our economy and did not protect American peace keepers. The dismal failures of these past four years is what matters most.

Ricardo, from what I've been seeing on this space all week, the wrong-wingers wouldn't have taken it amiss if MittWitt came out in a Che Guevara t-shirt and started singing a medley of Pete Seeger favorites- they would all say, with one voice, "See! He won because Obama is confused!"

Those people are not only completely devoid of any sense of humor or irony; they are brainwashed to a degree that Kim Il-Sung or the Symbionese Liberation Army would have envied. "Hey- teach us how you do that, man!"

You really have to give it up to the Forces of Darkness. Their followers have been completely, thoroughly conditioned. Their capacity for critical thinking has been utterly extinguished. Romney gave a great speech, but I find something even more interesting... The Benghazi affair is not on NBC, CNN, ABC or the Huff Post... If it is there, it is well hidden. Much news has recently come out nearly hourly, but it seems to be kept under wraps to protect the POTUS before the election. The father of former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods – who was killed in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya – talked about the current administration’s handling of the situation. Charlie Woods said today that he’s not interested in political arguments, but he does want to know who decided to not dispatch troops who could have helped, instead leaving his son to defend the Americans on his own while fighting for his life. “This is not about politics … if it were about politics, it would dishonor my son’s death. It’s about honor, integrity and justice,” he said. Woods is especially upset about the lies... There are plenty of them, but worst of all it has been learned that at least 3 requests for help came during the 7 hour attack. Help was only 2 hours away in Sicily. Requests for help were denied and they were told to "stand down". The POTUS said he didn't know??? He, Biden and Panetta were in the situation room and could see the surveillance drones throughout the attack. The POTUS told blatant lies, or he is unbelievably incompetent! Romney/Ryan 2012

Us Americans should give Romney credit on becoming a muli-billionaire during the years he was CEO of Bain. He was one of the pioneers of shipping work from the US to overseas call centers and factories making computer components. He was known as the GREAT ELIMNATOR of American Jobs.

As you might notice. You won't hear Romney Campaign Officials comment on Bains records during that time on outsourcing firms to other countries. When Romney was in charge of Bain.

It's not the money he made, that he's hiding from Americans on his tax-returns from that era. What he's hiding is that we will see how he made that money outsourcing our jobs.

People vote your choice, but do a lot of research on this man. While your crying for jobs, you just might elect a man that became a muti-millionaire destroying your jobs in America.

What I noticed about Obama is everytime the talk goes to job creation he refers to the need for funding education which is well and good for the future but does nothing for the 23,000,000 out of work now. His now job creation plans are unclear, unstated, and apparently uncertain. All of which cause business to stagnate. He just doesn't get it. Government doesn't create jobs, business does. Romney's plan is clear and business will react favorably.
