Subscribe to RSSAs President Obama and Mitt Romney campaigned heavily in the battleground state of Ohio on Thursday, new polls show neck-and-neck race in Colorado with both candidates tied at 48 percent; meanwhile in Nevada, the president still holds a slight advantage. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
The race between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney is locked in a dead heat in Colorado, while the president maintains a narrow edge in the other Western swing state of Nevada.

Obama and Romney are tied at 48 percent among likely voters in Colorado, according to the new NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist polls conducted this week, entirely after the third and final presidential debate. Among the broader sample of registered voters, Obama holds a 48 to 47 percent lead over Romney.

The race for the Centennial State has tightened since mid-September – right after the Democratic convention and before the debates – when Obama led 50 percent to 45 percent.
But the president's lead has held in another important battleground state, Nevada.
Obama leads Romney, 50 to 47 percent, among likely voters in Nevada. That result is within the margin of error, but also mirrors the late September Nevada NBC/WSJ/Marist poll, when Obama was up 49 percent to 47 percent among likely voters.
Among the broader sample of registered voters, Obama's lead in Nevada expands to 51 percent to 45 percent.
“I think we’re at a different point than we were in mid-September,” said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, which conducted the polls. “Romney’s had a better October than any of the other months in the campaign. We do see a change in his favorability. He’s no longer upside down. That’s leveled off. He’s doing better with independent voters, closed the gender gap, and doing better with women. What that means for a place like Colorado -- it is extremely close right now, but it is clearly a state that could go either way.”
Romney makes gains in Colorado
In Colorado, Obama is not hitting his mark with white voters, and is now losing suburban Denver voters as well as independents to Romney, who has also closed the gender gap versus the president. Enthusiasm among young voters has also fallen off for the president.
Men and women alike in Denver's suburbs have shifted toward Romney; a month ago, Obama led by 18 points among Denver suburban women, an advantage that closed to 3 percent in the most recent poll. Romney has expanded his lead among Denver's suburban men from 6 points last month to 13 points in this week's poll.

A month ago, Obama led with independents 50 to 39 percent, an advantage which has shrunk to a virtual draw, 46 to 45 percent. Among women, the president led in September by a whopping 14 points, 54 to 40 percent, a lead that has been halved to 7 percent (52 to 45 percent).
Obama has been able to stay even with Romney by maintaining big margins in Colorado's more liberal bastions and with strong support from Latinos, who say they support the president 63 to 34 percent. They make up a larger percentage of the electorate than 2008 and are breaking for Obama by a wider margin.
Latinos fuel Obama’s Nevada edge
Nevada is slightly friendlier turf for the president; Obama won Colorado by 9 percent in 2008, and won Nevada by 12 points.
Fueling Obama's lead in the Silver State is an even larger margin over Romney among Latinos and robust early voting for the president. Romney, in turn, is aided by stronger enthusiasm by Republicans, who are helping keep the GOP nominee in the race.
Hispanics, who make up 16 percent of respondents, broke for the president, 74 to 23 percent, versus Romney.
Seventy-one percent say they have either already voted or plan to vote early. Obama leads with those who say they have already voted (53 to 45 percent) and by a wider margin with those who have not yet decided if they will vote early or on Election Day (53 to 38 percent).
How crucial is the Latino vote in these two states to Obama?
“In a close race, every group makes a difference,” Miringoff said, but this group really makes a difference. It’s keeping him in the contest in these states.”
The polls were conducted Oct. 23 to 24. The Nevada poll has a margin of error of +/- 3 percent among likely voters. The Colorado poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percent.

Romney is just full of hot air and making it sound good because he has to save face with his supported. He keeps fundraising I'm sure to pat the pockets of all his campaign staff. With two weeks to go before Election Day, a new Reuters/Ipsos forecast released today predicts an Electoral College landslide for President Barack Obama over Republican rival Mitt Romney.
Obama leads Romney by a point in the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll, 47-46. But results from Ipsos' tracking in key swing states leads to a projection of a much bigger Electoral College victory. The Ipsos projection has Obama winning the big three swing states of Florida, Ohio and Virginia.

North Carolina adds more counties for early voting...
Two counties (Halifax and Union) annouced yesterday they will extend early voting hours the last day (Saturday November 3), they had planned to cut off people getting in line at 1 pm but now it will be 5 pm.
Lee County has added early voting for this Saturday October 27, making it the 61st of 100 counties to have voting this Saturday.
All 100 counties have one or more sites every weekday and all 100 have voting Saturday November 3

Hi tunde - I live here in Nevada, and just voted on my way home from work this evening. The polling lines were 30 minutes long - so, quite naturally, I started chatting to the people around me (a group of 9). I could tell that none of us were willing to "go there" (about who we were voting for.) So my curiosity finally got the best of me after about 10 minutes, and I said, "Well, I don't know who YOU guys are voting for, but my guy is going to win by a landslide." They all started laughing and said," Yeah, we are voting for Romney, too!" It was a good day!

At the end of the day, this election will come down to Ohio. Polls show that Obama leads by just under 2%...just from the way the electoral system works, it seems that Obama will win. He won't carry the most number of states, but he will carry most of the key states. Ohio polling is still a bit premature. We haven't waited for the full effects of the debates to settle in. If in a weeks time, Romney still hasn't gained in Ohio, it's doubtful he wins the presidency.
The GOP Created huge deficits, started unfunded wars, sold us out to China, Stole from Medicare and Social Security, unfunded tax cuts, bogus loopholes, destroying Unions (in progress), wage freezes, regulation manipulation, etc.
They have been on a middle class crushing marathon, and still going at it.
Should the very worst happen and Romney lies, suppresses the vote and snatches "victory" from voters and gets elected, 2008 will look like a walk in the park.
This country will not be a livable place.
We can look forward to a collapsing Medicare program, a stripped Medicaid program, hungry Americans due to a stripped food stamp program, women stripped of rights to their own health care decisions, and college students who can no longer afford college due to drastically increased interest on student loans if they are even available. Tax Policy Center in Spotlight for Its Romney Study
This article from Annie Lowery (Todays NY Times) highlights Romneys economic plan for everyone to see. It is very clear about how it would/wouldn't work as he has described. The study was performed by a non-profit group that D.C. uses for estimating different tax formats and the projected short/long term outcome.
The essence of the article proves that under his plan only those earning more than $250,000 would see a tax break and ALL others would pay more.
Moreover, as his plan is now, the total cost of his plan could result in another $5 Trillion added to the national debt.
Once again the GOP stands by their flagship of helping the wealthiest people and expecting everyone else to pay for it.

Voter confusion is causing a lot of damage at the polls.
Republicans have made it such an issue that the average person in every state is now under the impression that a voter ID is needed even if they live in a State that doesn't require it.
The GOP has communicated this clearly to their base, but the ones that are more likely to vote for Obama are being bombarded with misleading information in advertising and billboards paid by anonymous buyers.

North Carolina adds more counties for early voting...
Two counties (Halifax and Union) a announced yesterday they will extend early voting hours the last day (Saturday November 3), they had planned to cut off people getting in line at 1 pm but now it will be 5 pm.
Lee County has added early voting for this Saturday October 27, making it the 61st of 100 counties to have voting this Saturday.
All 100 counties have one or more sites every weekday and all 100 have voting Saturday November 3

I agree. President Obama has kept his promise to stop the disastrous financial freefall, turn things around, and get them headed back in the right direction. It's a slow recovery, but it's on its way, and things are finally looking up again.
Seems a lot of people have selective memory loss and just don't remember how frightening the economic situation was when Obama became President.
When President Reagan left office, he had burdened the country with the largest debt America had ever had at that point in history. Even Reagan himself said that the huge deficit he incurred was "the greatest disappointment of his Presidency."

I heard an analyst put the election this way. "Most people are see Ohio as critical to Romney, it would probably better stated that Ohio is a must win for Obama."

Again folks, look at the average of ALL polls for a trend. It's been a month since NBC polled Colorado. Two other polls of Colorado today showed Obama plus 2 and Plus 4. In this NBC poll if it's truly a tie among "likely" voters I feel good that obama leads among all registered. That's where the ground game comes in. In actuality I have no problem with unions, teamsters, dock workers', restaurant workers', utility workers' unions. My problem is with govt workers' unions. Even FDR recognized the corrupt symbiotic relationship between govt employees' unions and elected politicians. That's why Federal employees are not unionized. That's why public schools are wastelands.
Bali Bob employees of corporations can unionize no problem. Unions in the private sector must negotiate with businesses that must make a profit to exist. Everyone concerned is aware of this. Govt unions negotiate with politicians who pander for votes and campaign contributions and bankrupt their cities and states by giving away the store and kicking the can down the road for someone else to deal with. That's the problem.
Let me tell you about unions. I was a nurse in a medical dispensary in a steel mill. A union stewart brought in a union worker and he told me the worker had fallen down the steps at work and hurt his leg. On examining the leg I felt as though he had broken it and sent him to the hospital. A call from the hospital revealed that the leg was broken. Reports were filed, safety was notified and the worker was put on Worker's comp. When safety was investigating the accident he noticed that the evidence didn't match the report that the worker gave. The next day the worker confessed that he didn't fall at work. He fell playing football the day before. He said the union stewart put him up to it. The company said he would be able to keep his job (that was an action that was reason for termination) The shop stewart wasn't touched. The company filed bankruptcy a few years later. Who was exploiting who here?

Actually, Obama is trailing, according to Rasmussen, 50%-46%. And you know if a left-leaning poll like the NBC/WSJ/Marist has Colorado tied, then Romney is ahead.

Obama's goal is to create a society completely reliant on government. Currently 47% of the citizens of our country pay zero income tax. Many get money from the government in the form of Income Tax Credits they never paid. Once we pass the 50% tipping point, it will be very difficult to create a fair system that doesn't penalize people that are successful. I own a small business and if Obama care is not overturned, I will pay an additional $40,000 in fines and fees because I employ over 100 people, many who work more than the 30 hour full time criteria established by Obama care. As a result, I will also be hiring an additional 40 part time employees and reducing hours on all but 30 of my current employees to keep under the 30 hour full time requirement. Obama care will create a nation of part time employees working 20-25 hours a week and requiring 2 jobs. Oh well.... let's punish those evil job producers.

I grew up in the Catholic church, and a priest at our church was transferred because he molested a girl who I went to school with I think she was 13. She told me this many years later when we were out to dinner on a date. My family was very upset when he got transferred he came to my home often for dinner, fortunately he didn't get any alone time with my sisters. Creep! He was transferred not thrown out!
