BRISTOL, VA – Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan was back in the battleground state of Virginia on Thursday, hammering away at President Barack Obama for lacking a 2nd term agenda.
"Just a couple of days ago he came up with a slick new brochure, you know, with less than two weeks left to say, 'Oh I do actually have an agenda,'" Ryan said.
"It is a slick -- well, comic book -- that was his word,” acknowledging a man in the crowd. "To me, a slick re-packaging of more of the same. And look at what it has gotten us. You see, where we are today is our economy is barely limping along. It is slower than it was last year, last year was slower than the year before."
On Tuesday, President Obama released the "Blueprint for America's Future," which featured proposals for a 2nd term published in millions of glossy pamphlets. The 20-page document came after heavy criticism that Obama hadn't been spending enough time laying out specifics.
Ryan asked voters here in Bristol to give both he and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney the “moral obligation” to put the Republican agenda in place come Nov. 6.
“The worst thing that could happen, president Obama gets reelected and we have more of the same with a debt crisis. The second worst thing that could happen is we get elected by default without a mandate. This is why we’re asking you to give us the moral authority and the obligation to honor you by putting this agenda in place to get America back on the right track,” Ryan said outside Universal Fibers in Southwest Virginia.
As Ryan returned to Virginia today for two rallies -- the next happening in Charlottesville -- President Barack Obama himself was campaigning just a couple hundred miles away in Richmond during his 48 hour "campaign extravaganza."
Polls are tight in this swing state; the Oct. 11 NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist poll showed Romney with a narrow lead over President Obama in the state, 48 percent to 47 percent among likely voters.
Early voting is underway in the state and the GOP VP nominee begged the nearly 1,500 person crowd Thursday to help with voter turnout.
“Virginia, we need your help. Don’t forget, early voting has already started. If you haven’t voted absentee, you can still do it, And go find somebody who thought the hope and change sounded good in 2008 but know it isn’t true now. Get them to vote for us,” he said.
Just before departing for his second event of the day in Charlottesville, Ryan, joined by his wife and three kids, met racecar driver Richard Petty on the tarmac in Blountville, TN and posed for a picture.
“It is a real pleasure to meet you in person,” Ryan said after introducing Petty to his kids as one of the “most famous racecar drivers ever.”

Damn, I need a good laugh today, is this Obama comic book published on line? I mean we have been asking Obama what his plan was for the next four years and all he has done is run one of the most dishonest and nastiest campaigns in history, now he puts out a BS pamphlet.
I see Obama's backers in Hollywood are now planning to release the movie about the killing of Osama Bin Laden on Nov 4th, 2 days before the election. They originally said they would wait until after the election. I'm still betting that before the end of Oct Obama will order a drone strike on some village in Libya and then swear up and down he took out those that attacked out Consulate.
Well, much of the President's agenda was blocked by the GOP in congress. The President is a nice guy, trying to appease GOP in congress. But appeasement never works, 20th century history told us that.

So in Obama's 2nd term, the President should stand up to these RepubliCONs.
The "Hope and Change" still sounds good.
All we need to do is rid ourselves of the "do nothing" Republicans and Tea Party folks in the houses and we could start down the road to recovery and to prosper.
By the way, just what is the agenda for Romney?
1- Cut taxes for the people earning more than $250,000
2- Cut deductions on those earning less so they have less to spend.
3- Give oil companies a free run to do whatever they want.
4- Increase the budget for the military.
5- Cut the budget to all other programs and departments.
6- Remove restrictions on Wall Street so they can try to bury us once again in debt and bankruptcy.

create a million manufacturing jobs by nd of 2016,
double exports by end of 2014,
cut import in half by 2020,
cut the growth of College tuition in half
recruit 100,000 math and science teachers,
train 2 million workers at Community collegees,
Invest money in nation building with money otherwise spent on wars
While reducing deficit by $4Trillion of 10 years.

President Obama has made his position very clear on immigration, the debt, the deficit, entitlements, etc. in many public speeches - including his latest State of the Union address, his convention acceptance speech, and the debates.
The details have been online for several months, and the math actually adds up!
Romney's plans lack details and fail to adhere to the rules of basic math. Unlike Romney, the President's positions haven't changed very much.....

President Obama's plan is a "comic book"? Then the "Ryan Budget Plan" must be a horror novel!! It certainly looks and sounds horrific, and the Romney "PLAN" is no better! At least the President's plan is a move FORWARD, not BACKWARD. I can't help but think that the Repulicans really truly HATE the fact that this is the 21st century, it seems that all they want to do is live in the PAST.
I read the President's plan on the Internet. It is devoid of details and budget. It takes away federal money from colleges and universities that need it enough. It calls for that nation to spend a fortune training math and science teachers so that they can teach shop classes at JC's to train students that may not exist. For the plan to work the federal government will have to net a better than 2 trillion dollar a year savings by bringing the troops home in 2014. If the federal government eliminated the military entirely and cut the rest of their expenses in half they would not see the required savings. That is only part of the problem. The report is an example of fantasy economics. The President promised that the 2012 federal deficit would not exceed 229.27 billion dollars yet he actually exceeded 1.1 trillion dollars. He wants to continue his record of non achievement for another 4 years at the tax payer's expense. He has yet to present a detailed plan for paying back all of the money that the federal government owes. The tax payers have a right to know how much all this federal borrowing is actually going to cost them.
Without a congress to back you up, it doesn't matter which turd we keep or which one we flush. Either way, I see Austerity in my countries future brought on by the rich elite and banking cartels, to punish the peons for not giving them more money in 09-10.
Vote, because your important decision matters for all of 5 seconds. If our vote counted, we wouldn't need an Electoral College. But it gives you that "Happy, Huggy" feeling to know you've been scammed by the game. "It doesn't matter" 2012!
Romney has a different plan every four hours, which is how long it takes him to travel from one campaign stop to the next. None of them are in writing since by the time the printing presses spool up to print, they plan changes. Eddie's plan--gut Social Security, voucherize Medicare, repeal the Affordable Care Act, turn Medicaid into a grant program to the states, thus leaving millions of poor people with no health insurance at all, give tax breaks to the rich and tax increases to everyone else, robbing from the poor to give to the rich. This is something to be proud of? The Council of Catholic Bishops, among others, condemned his plan as being contrary to Catholic social justice teaching. It is also unjust and immoral. I notice he has been trying to soften his stance, perhaps convinced that he can fool people into thinking he doesn't still worship at the Ayn Rand altar. In the summer of 2008, I paid $4.60 for a gallon of gas. I paid $3.89/gallon yesterday. Of course, gas did drop below $2/gallon for a short time in late 2008/early 2009. It took a collapse of the global economy to accomplish that. When Willard and Eddie promise to lower energy prices, be careful for what you wish for. They might just use the Bush model!

As far as your statement about the WARN Act, it really depends on who you listen to. There are several different legal opinions on that. Early voting can be interpreted as a good sign of turnout of registered voters, enthusiasm, motivation.
It already gives all those poll watchers a count of votes casted in this election 12, or 10 days out.
It helps voters with options and not to beholding to the weather gods on election day.

Here in MN we have absentee voting only. You need a reason no to vote on election day.
Over 140,000 absentee ballots have been requested. 71,000 have already been returned by last Monday.

It appears to merely cannibalise election day numbers.
There are two ways to look at early voting. Either the candidate has simply 'moved' a vote he would have simply gotten on November 6, 2012 anyway or he has actually 'banked' a vote he would not otherwise have gotten because, frankly, voting in the inner cities on election day is a drag and early voting is so much easier. Because of the way that Democratic heavy demographics tend to fall, there is definitely a case to be made that Obama is 'banking' votes rather than simply moving them.
Republican demographics are the type that tend to vote no matter what and if you examine the bones of most polls these days, they bear that out. A typical likely voter split for Republicans runs something along the lines of 96%/4% between 'definitely' and 'probably.' The Democratic voter split in the same poll will likely be something along the lines of 80%/20%.
The easier the process is for that 20%, the more likely it is that they will actually vote instead of just getting fed up with it and go home.
Finally, there is something of a psychological edge to it, though how much of one is debatable. If some 'on-the-fence' Republicans hear that the president is already up 66% to 33% among people who have already voted, it may have a discouraging effect, though that's never been proven.

NS - or just make sure a qualified voter CAN vote! My daughter who has voted in every election since she was 18 and has lived in the same apt. for several years, wondered why she hadn't received her sample ballot & info. Making a couple calls, she found out she had been marked as an "inactive voter" so no mailings to her! Talking around she discovered other friends had the same thing happen! Interesting, all of them youngish progressive voters!

Maybe the Romney campaign should try a comic book - anything to explain how they plan on accomplishing what they say is going to happen with a Romney win. I've noticed that they say that something's just going to happen. It is never about HOW its going to happen.
With that theory, I could run for president and just tell everyone that, as president, I'm going to ensure that everyone will be entitled to nice, new cars, that all children will be better looking and smarter than the rest of the world's children, and that both crime and unemployment rates will drop to 0%.

Current US government revenues is approximately 1/8 of total US GDP
Based on ten years the US economy would require GDP growth rate of 12% per year for 10 years.
Average US GDP growth has been approximately 2%.
To put this growth rate in perspective, China's GDP growth rate from 2007 to 2011 only exceeded 12% in a single year.
Their plan requires the US GDP growth rate to be as high as China's in China's largest year. But they need the US to perform at this level for 10 straight years, just to break even with this tax plan.
Their plan does nothing for the current deficit.
So if you plan on believing this BIZZARO world math they are promulgating, then you can prepare for the MIddle Class deductions to be decimated.
So the bottom line for the Middle Class is, you can go with a plan that has a chance of success or believe in BIZZARO world math vote against your own interests.
