Romney: Election outcome will be defining for American families

Charles Dharapak / AP

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney campaigns at the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Mitt Romney continued Wednesday night to lay out what appears to be his campaign's closing argument, describing this election as a defining one not just for the country, but for individual families.

"This is a defining election – defining for the nation but also defining for your family," Romney told a crowd of some 2,300 supporters gathered in an airplane hangar here. "I say that because it will make a difference, this election will. A difference for the nation, a difference for the families of the nation and a difference for your own family."

Slideshow: On the Trail

Romney then laid out his case against President Barack Obama in terms of how families might be affected by a second Obama term – a rhetorical tactic he began earlier in Reno earlier in the day. The former Massachusetts governor said Obamacare would result in medical providers refusing Medicare to seniors, wages would stagnate and children would attend failing schools – courtesy, he said, of Obama’s union allies.

"You see the teachers union is there, but the PTA doesn't have a union, and parents don't have unions and kids don't have unions," Romney said. "When I'm elected president we're going to make sure we have a voice for the kids of America and their parents and the teachers."

Later, Romney wove those narratives together to make a case for why this election is so important.

"It matters to those seniors that want good health care. It matters to those in their 40s and 50s and 60s that are earning money for their retirement or for their families," Romney said. "It matters for kids coming out of school looking for a job. It matters for young kids that want to have the best education possible."

Despite most public polls showing the president leading Romney in Iowa and other Midwestern battleground states where the election may hinge, an optimistic Romney again claimed momentum coming off the three presidential debates and declared flatly of the election overall: "We are going to win, by the way."

There is NO reason to believe the Republicans

They like to make bogus promises and predictions.

They tell you lie after lie about the future to elect them.

When was the last time they held on to their word?

What have Republicans done for America in the last 40 years?

Mr Romney,

You are a !% who has always had your family wealth and influence to send you to the best private schools, give all your boys their own trust funds and have more bedrooms for all the grand kids and all the water toys they will ever need when they come to visit.

Now you want to reach out to the middle class and working families.

First your old trickle down ecomonic theories of the GOP did not work the last time and won't work again.

You don't know anything about the grandparents who worry about the drugs costs that they cannot pay for until the new Heath care Law which now give them some relief.

You want to repeal the heath care law which insures that children and adult with pre existing conditions like MS will not be denied insurance. And the young adult newly out of college will have heath insurance while they look for a job or start their own business.

And the parents who put their children to bed every night know that under our President , a new war with more American troops and money will not be on his agenda. I cannot say that for your bombastic remarks which you silently forgot about during the last debate.

This election is about two different visions for our country. And the vision I am voting for is the President's and the Democratic party in my state and our elected DFL officials,

You know, I was just thinking about Donald Trump's offer to give $5M to one of Obama's favorite charities if he will supply us with his transcripts & college applications. HECK, I would do that in a minute! And my charity would treasure a donation of that amount! I am proud of my past, and my school records. If there is nothing to hide, why not do it? Any thoughts?

What do you guys think will happen with Congress if Obama wins?

Say Senate is 53D/47R and House is 205D/230R--both in the likely ballpark.

Are Republicans going to help improve the economy since they don't have to beat Obama anymore, or will they continue preventing success?

This guy doesn't even make sense anymore. Speaking of desperation. I think your seeing it. And why did Romney suspend any further interviews before the election? Could it be they (RNC) are afraid he'll stick his foot in his mouth? I think so.

"When I'm elected president we're going to make sure we have a voice for the kids of America

because I'm going to put 'em all to work with the 12 million jobs I'm going to create. What, did you people think I meant good paying jobs that boost the middle class? No, I never said that!"

Did you notice that Obama spent to fix Republican failed policies?

Did you know that Obama's fixes are working?

Do you think that Romney, Mr. 1%, Mr. anti-47%, Mr. "I like to fire people" is looking out for you?

Romney / Lyan have been in the middle of all the country's problems.

They're the cause.

They want more "Redistribution of Debt" from their wealthy interests to you.

Did you know that the tax cuts they give out are coming back in superpac accounts?

Do you know who is paying for their campaign?

Why do they have secret donors overseas?

Why are they lying so much?

You need answers.

Tony...

You need to rethink just who won the last debate. Obama called Romney a liar over government guarantees to the auto industry. Obama cut him off like the school house bully when he tried to address it.

Today Romney's op-ed piece is all over the news. Even Letterman admitted Obama is a liar. Said so too.

When Crowley called Romney a liar over the Rose Garden use of the word terrorism she back tracked the very next morning. She had no business getting involved in the first place.

Obama did not look presidential and when facts are checked he does not know what he is talking about.

Teacher's unions certainly do have more educational influence over your children. Getting a bad teacher out of a school is pretty difficult.

Umm no, the ultimate responsibilty lies with the parent. I had a rule in my house that my kids were not allowed to blame the "bad teacher" for failing grades, which they had none of(bad grades that is)well my son was sketchy at the end but not failing lol.My kids learned to hold the teachers to account, when they screw up, and my daughter did believe me, she is in university now and I do not believe a union had anything to do with it, more like hard work and keeping your grades up.

One of the very few things Robme has said in the last 6 years that he has been trying to buy the White House: "this election will be defining for American families"

This is especially true if you are a woman, or have a girl or woman in your life that you love . . . .

25% of American women will be the victims of the crime of RAPE during their lifetimes. This is a disgusting statistic, sad but true.

If you think a 13-year-old girl who gets raped by her uncle or step-father should be forced by the GOVERNMENT to carry that pregnancy to term, go ahead & vote for the "Legitimate Rape" candidates.

R & R believe (look at their platform/website/budget) that a girl/woman who is RAPED and who terminates the resulting pregnancy is a bigger criminal than the RAPIST. THAT is a CRIME!

Obama called Romney a liar over government guarantees to the auto industry. Obama cut him off like the school house bully when he tried to address it.

Because he is a liar. He said, and I quote "Let Detroit go bankrupt!" He even admitted it. What he didn't admit and knew, just as everyone else did, was that there was no one that was going to step up with the kind of finances that would've been required to keep those companies solvent. That means they would have liquidated assets spelling the end of the automobile industry in this country.

Yep, Mr. Obama has really accomplished a lot during the last four years of FAILED agenda.

Transparency.

  1. Mr. Obama pledged that transparency would be a top priority in his administration. However, his administration has refused to grant one-third of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
  2. Health Care negotiations were not televised on C-SPAN, legislation was not provided on-line for five days for public review, and closed door back-room deals were the norm, (commonly known as Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase, and Health Care companies wheeling and dealing).
  3. A FOIA request was required to obtain the White House visitors log after the White House's refusal to release the information. Special "visitor" on numerous occasions was SEIU Trumpka whose "Agenda was Obama's agenda". And, this administration is still fighting in court against rulings that would grant the public a legal right to such data.
  4. To counter FOIA requests, the DHS has ordered, since July 2009, "career employees to provide political staffers with information about the people who asked for records — such as where they lived and whether they were private citizens or reporters — and about the organizations where they worked".
  5. Yep, Mr. Obama fulfilled his promise of aTransparent administration.

ObamaCare.

  1. During his presidential campaign, Obama indicated that his mother died of cancer after being denied coverage for a pre-existing condition. Her image was used in a campaign ad, repeated the claim in debates, and used the same rhetoric as President when selling ObamaCare to the American people. However, it has been reported that Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, had health insurance through her employer and was only denied disability insurance.
  2. And, Mrs. Obama claimed that Mr. Obama's mother was discriminated against at a bank in Hawaii when in fact, she was the first female to be selected to a top banking position.
  3. Obama pledged during his campaignand throughout his presidency not to raise taxes on families making less than $250,000. ObamaCare's mandate (TAX) will be on all Americans not having health insurance coverage. And the TAX will be administered by the IRS which routinely gives out BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to Illegal Aliens (Immigrants).
  4. Mr. Obama repeatedly pledged that under his health care measure, Americans would be able to keep their doctors. However, many employers will cut their health care plans and force workers into the state health care exchanges. A survey indicated that more than 30% of companies will discontinue coverage for their workers. Further, about 3,000,000 individuals will not be covered under ObamaCare. when ObamaCare's target was health care for ALL Americans.
  5. Cut Medicare/Medicare Advantage by $ 714,000,000,000 to use that money to support ObamaCare. How is that working for you, Liberal Medicare (Senior) Advantage subscribers ?
  6. Yep, ObamaCare is going to do wonders for Americans health-care.

Stimulus.

  1. $ 787,000,000,000 (CBO revised to $ 814,000,000,00) stimulus package for shovel-ready construction jobs and keep the unemployment at or below 8%. Mr. Obama later admitted that "There's no such thing as shovel-ready projects." while Mr. Biden later stated that the Stimulus was a failure. Most "Stimulus Go Green" payback programs failed and the companies went BANKRUPT.
  2. Total cost for ALL Stimulus/Bail-Out initiatives: $ 2,800,000,000,000 and the economy remains stagnant and the unemployment rate is outrageous.
  3. Yep, Mr. Obama's Stimulus worked and saved the World from a depression.

Government Motors.

  1. The American taxpayers still own about 28% of GM stock. The Secretary of the Treasury indicated recently that $ 25,000,000,000 still owed to the American taxpayers will be LOST. However, that didn't stop GM from giving out bonuses to their UNION WORKERS. A UAW official told members that eligible members of unions representing General Motors would be receiving a $1,000 bonus (reported 6 June 2012).
  2. GM currently is mired in pension/health care debt at the tune of $ 134,000,000,000 to Union retirees and is trying to "offset" the debt by giving retiring Union workers LUMP SUM offers. Sort of sounds like UPS.
  3. Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Treasury was instrumental in TERMINATING about 20,000 NON-Union Delphi employee's pensions.
  4. Recent profits have fallen 41% because of "slow" European sales.
  5. GM is currently LOSING about $ 39,000 on every VOLT SOLD.
  6. Yep, Mr. Obama saved the auto industry.

Lobbyists.

  1. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama said: "We have the chance to tell all those corporate lobbyists that the days of them setting the agenda in Washington are over. I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am President, they won't find a job in my White House."
  2. At least a dozen former lobbyists received top jobs in his administration at the beginning of his presidency.
  3. Further, Mr. Obama administration was granting waivers to lobbyists to circumvent the ban. Yep, he has dozens of Ex-Wall Street "Fat Cats" (particularly Ex-Goldman Sachs) in his administration helping draft financial regulations.
  4. Yep, Mr. Obama's administration is squeaky clean.

Immigration.

  1. Mr. Obama said of the Arizona Immigration Law: "Now suddenly if you don't have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you can be harassed, that's something that could potentially happen." Actually the law would allow law enforcement officials to inquire about immigration status only when there is suspicion of a crime being committed.
  2. Approximately 800,000 Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) children allowed to remain in the U.S. for two years. Compliments of a "new" DHS regulation bypassing Congressional procedures and hits on "unconstitutional". Expect the White House to increase this number prior to the election.
  3. Yep, Mr. Obama's "I don't need Congress to get my agenda pushed through" is really working.

Leaks.

  1. Disclosed details of the Navy SEAL team that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and collaborating sensitive information with Bollywood to produce a movie of the attack.
  2. Disclosed U.S. cyber warfare against Iran's nuclear facility.
  3. Disclosed procedures and "hit list" for targeting militants for drone attacks.
  4. Disclosed existence of a double agent who penetrated a militant group in Yemen.
  5. Disclosed airfield to be used by Israel for possible Iran nuclear facility attack.
  6. Yep, Mr. Obama's administration is looking out for the safety of our brave men and women in uniform and International allies and contacts.

Terrorists.

  1. Mr. Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo). It remains open.
  2. Three people convicted of terror-related offenses after 9/11 were given U.S. citizenship later, outraging Rep. Steve King, the Republican chairman of the House subcommittee that deals with immigration. "It's outrageous that you can have people under your very nose and adjudicate them through the process and convict them and then turn around and grant them citizenship,".....
  3. An Iraqi court has rejected a request to send a Hezbollah commander (Ali Mussa Daqduq ) to the United States for trial, a decision that likely ends the Obama administration's push to prosecute the Lebanese militant held in Iraq for the 2007 killings of five American soldiers. But the July 30 decision by the Iraqi central criminal court, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, ordered Daqduq be freed immediately. It also makes it clear that Iraq believes the legal case against him is over.
  4. Yep, Mr. Obama is taking care of those terrorists.

No, I am not going to provide links to the above. You Liberals are smart and have a computer with Internet access, so you can search the comments yourself.

Yep, Mr. Obama was not ready for a 1st term and is certainly not ready for a 2nd term. Apparently his On-the-Job-Training went completely over his head.

Oh BTW: Check the latest on Mr. Obama and his administration COVER UP of the Benghazi attack which KILLED our Ambassador and three other Americans.

Let's not talk about the actual fact that they have done nothing of substance, we all know that. Let's talk about the Veterans Job Bill. They would spend 800 billion for a war without paying for it and refuse Veterans returning from that war 1 billion to help them get jobs that was paid for. And you feel they should be rewarded... for what. They campaigned on the promise of jobs, jobs, and jobs. They provided none.

You can blame all those downfalls on the "do nothing", obstructing, filibustering, 7% approved GOP owned congress that NEVER compromises and only makes PLEDGES to the rich and NOT to their nation.

The democrats do not have control when you have an opposing party filibustering everything over 500 times.

AND…

Romney did NOT promise he would do the opposite of what the GOP has done either.

Think about that too.

I don't want you, Mr. lying game Romney, to have anything to do with decisions that affect my family.

If Romney gets in His ex-Bush neocon warhawk advisors will have us in a war before the year is out. The only way his economic numbers even get part way to what he promised, is to raise fees on everyhting he can think of. (like he did in Mass.) He will offload responsibilities to the states who will have to raise more money, by raising taxes or fees or both. The rich will be laughing all the way to the bank with their 20% tax cut, but the rest of us will pay more and more. The services the middle class (and poor) rely on, will be priced out of the range of many families. The rich already have their private daycare and private schools and will not see a downside at all. in 2010, 56% of American wealth was held by millionaires. Income inequality combined with a weak social safety net, leads directly to more crime.

Romney: A pi$$ (on the) poor visiojn for America.

Tony, first let me say thank you, I've enjoyed every one of posts above. Your last comment was exactly right! I'm a salaried Union auto worker, Basically a white collar union employee. I sat in a town hall meeting with one of the vice presidents of Chrysler, which took place right after Obama loaned Chrysler the 'Stay alive' money. He told us that no matter what our political views are, we owe Obama our jobs! He said that NO ONE was interested in loaning Chrysler any money. Chrysler didn't want to borrow from the government because the interest rate was so high, but they had NO CHOICE. I can tell you because I was there, Romney's comment about private money being available is completely inaccurate!

old fat guy - sorry, Romney wrote

The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.

I know the argument being used to defend him on this, but the facts were, that there was no money. So when they entered Bankruptcy, there would have been no money to buy the company. At that point it would have been broken up into parts and sold to the highest bidder. What Romney was saying is after the vultures came in and bought the company for 2 cent on the dollar, then guarantee their loans. GM would never have survived. By offering to guarantee the warranties, the vultures would have gotten away with more. Kinda like Mitt did when he bankrupted companies and stuck the US tax payers with the pension funds he robbed from the companies.

Fat old guy,

The thing about a credit crunch, which was happening at the time the car companies were going down, is thet no one is lending money. No private company was going to come to the rescue of GM or Chrysler, they would have been liquidated and by now the factories would be being reassembled in China. Millions of jobs woould have been lost. Mr. Trust me I know what I'm doing Romney, really doesn't have a clue that running a country is not like aquireing companies. I've read his 8 page 5 point plan, it's all based on his disproved supply side economic advisor (Taylor) who claims that a 20% tax cut will lead to growing out of deficits. It didn't work before (Reagan) and it is very dangerous to think it will work now.

#1.46 - Wed Oct 24, 2012 10:43 PM EDT

To grow out of deficits we need to slow spending. You could not raise taxes 50% and that is what it takes at today's spending level. Not just income tax ....ALL FEDERAL TAXES.

There is no way GM was moving but you all just go ahead and keep believing that.

Many big companies have gone bankrupt in America. Look at American Airlines today. In bankruptcy and still operating and will continue to operate if the unions do not drive all the customers away.

Mr. "Santa Claus" Romney who says everyone can have their cake & eat it too, a so-called Republican who will explode our deficit spending so much that it will make Obama look like a penny pinching Scrooge: I have been a lifelong Republican since I first voted in 1980, for Reagan. But this time I'm going to the other side and voting for a Democratic incumbent -- the one who took office when my company was having mass layoffs, who took office a couple months after my wife's company went bankrupt and everyone was laid off, the one who took office when my 401(k) and my home value had both dropped 40%.

Why? Because my wife found a good job, my company stopped the layoffs and started hiring again in 2011, my 401(k) regained all those losses and then some, my home value is on the rise, and instead of losing 800,000 jobs a month as we were when Bush left office, our economy is now adding well over 100,000 jobs a month.

And most of all, for my children's and grandchildren's future, because the Democrat in the White House is more committed to reducing our deficit spending then you are Mr. Romney. You are a disgrace to the Republican Party, and it's a sad day for the GOP when a liberal Democratic president is more of a Republican than you are sir!

Barrack Husseins defining of America.

Barrack Husseins $863 billion $timulu$ allegedly created 5 million jobs.

OK, let's give them that. These are obviously NOT the aforementioned "shovel ready" jobs he promised. We all remember his and Jeff Immelts, the "Job Czar", hysterical laughter as Barrack announced, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected."

That's OK. Most intelligent Americans didn't believe his claims to begin with.

But it is interesting how the Liberal bobble-heads continuously decry "trickle-down" when the $timulu$ was the epitome of it. You pour $863 billion dollars into the top of a massive monolithic federal bureaucracy and expect it to trickle down to the private sector to promote growth.

So, let's do like Liberals do and pretend the money did get to the private sector and create the 5 million alleged jobs.

It cost us over $200,000 to create each job. I don't care what anyone says, I want my tax-payer money back, this is NOT a good return on investment.

More importantly, let's look at the types of jobs being created. It's obvious these jobs don't all pay $200,000 each. This should open an inquiry but it won't.

So, just what kinds of jobs are being created? Let's look.

In a study done by the National Employment Law Project, the results are typical Liberal smoke and mirrors.

Although six in 10 jobs lost during the Great Recession paid mid-level wages, the majority of new jobs created in the recovery -- positions such as store clerks, laborers and home healthcare aides -- pay much less, according to a new study.

Lower-paying jobs, with median hourly wages from $7.69 to $13.83, accounted for just 21% of the job losses during the recession. But they've made up about 58% of the job growth from the end of the recession in late 2009 through early 2012.

Those jobs have been concentrated in three industries: food services, retail and employment services, such as office clerks and customer service representatives, the study found.

In contrast, mid-wage occupations with median hourly wages from $13.84 to $21.13 -- jobs such as construction workers, real estate brokers, and data entry clerks -- have accounted for just 22% of the new jobs in the recovery after making up 60% of the job losses in the recession.

So, it looks like all those horrible mid-wage jobs from the terrible Bush years are being replaced by low-wage jobs by Barrack Hussein.

These are the “green shoots” of the “recovery summer” under Barrack Hussein.

Averaging this out, $17.50 an hour jobs are being replaced by $10.75 an hour jobs.

This is the Barrack Hussein vision for American families. This is obviously his "from the middle" meme. Unfortunately the truth is it’s a "from the middle down" reality.

This will continue to be Americas fate as Liberals refuse to address the real 800 pound gorilla in the room. Progressivism is the cause of all of our problems. When the wizards of Progressivism unleashed their fairy-tale government social and economic justice for the collective, our economy has seen it's slow but eventual collapse.

The incessant intrusion of government, especially the federal government, into the private sector is the reason we see not only our economic collapse, but also the social, moral and cultural decay. These are primarily the result of the irrational concepts of social and economic justice surrounded by even more dysfunctional political correctness.

Barrack Hussein is a statist surrounded by faculty-lounge elitists who have never created a job in their lives. Their notoriety, as is usually the case for Liberals, is dependent on how many books they have read. If they happen to have written a book, they are elevated as the pinnacle of authority.

We don't need more government. We need less government that is efficient, responsible, accountable and transparent. When our own government blatantly admits that our health care system loses over $750 billion dollars to waste, fraud, abuse and corruption (WFAC) EVERY YEAR, our response should be to stop all tax payments until the government fixes its incompetence.

The list of WFAC in our government borders on a trillion dollars a year. The idiocy of the Liberals is they just want to keep taking from the rich and redistributing it to the rest of the world. We tried this with the sacrosanct "war on poverty". In 1965 the poverty rate was 14%. Since then, we have spent over $17 trillion on this "war" and the poverty rate is 14.3% (15.1% including recessionary forces).

America is collapsing under the weight of Progressivism and its attendant government dependence. Our nation was NOT built on the shoulders of government or unions or entitlements. It was built on the back of industry. The genius of the Edison's, McCormick's, Ford's, Vanderbilt's, Carnegie's, Wright Brother's and others is what allowed America to become the "Shining City on the Hill".

Barrack Hussein promotes mediocrity rather than American exceptionalism. Real Americans reject this foolishness. True American leaders don't lead from behind, they lead shoulder to shoulder with other Americans to build a strong and vibrant 21st century Republic.

I think this Rommey version of GM bankruptcy thing is skipping a very important point. When a publicly traded corporation goes into bankruptcy their stockholders receive nothing. Their stock value goes to 0.00. The government version walked into the thing and bought stock in GM so they controlled it. Stockholders have regained their value and didn't lose their ownership. Now it seems to me that a bunch of those 1% people might be scratching their head about what would have happened to their money under the Rommey plan. He would have killed it the same as is his modus operandi at BAIN. At that point the stock value is $0.00

One other little thing that bugs me. Rommey keeps saying he was bipartisan in Mass. Ugh, wait, if you have an 85% Dem state legislature then the governor can't do anything. If he vetoes a bill they over ride it. His only choice is to sign the law or be left out!! Why has he not been called out on this lie???

Hey, rightwingers, you know Romney is known as Mitt the liar. In the debate last Monday he already went back on every foreign policy position he had to agree with Obama.

Is he going to balance the budget? No, cutting funding for PBS will not balance the budget.

Is he going to create 12 million jobs? Maybe, in China and other third world countries.

Is he going to repeal ObamaCare if elected? No, that is one of his lies. He is the father of ObamaCare and proud of it. He's going to embrace it the moment he (in his imagination) is in office. This is where Mitt the liar really shows up. He will switch his position immediately if he is ever elected.

And he will switch positions on countless other issues to sell the right wing down the drain. He already sold you out on foreign policy.

Romney knows that the last four years were far better than the eight years before that. The only thing the Romney would do differntly is to reduce the capital gains tax to zero. Why? Because Romeny makes $250 million a year on capital gains.

Mitt is a closet liberal, except when it comes to his personal gain, and then he is purely Tea Party.

Romney says he will do for the US what he did for the State of Mass. the Olympics and Baine. Well lets take a look, Baine bought companies for pennies on the dollar, took out loans on them, paid 80 to 90% to investors, looted pension funds, defaulted on the loans, fired everyone and sold off the rest for profit or in some cases hired new workers for half wages and restarted the business. As Gov. in 4 years he left the state deeper in debt than he found it but did create a health care system that almost 70% of the people love. As head of the Salt Lake Olympic committee, he called up his friends in Washington and got a 70 Million dollar EARMARK bailout from you and me.

In every way Mitt made it worse for working people and rich people richer, except for the health care plan. That's the same as "Obama Care" and he wants to get rid of that. Make sure you tell everyone you know that if Obama Care is removed the "Donut Hole" comes back along with other changes that will cost them more. Tell me why the republicans wont let Medicare get discounts for Rx's. like Veteran Admin. does. It would save Billions every year for medicare. Signed into law by G W Bush, it states that pharmaceutical companies will set the price Medicare have to pay and NO NEGOTIATION ALLOWED.

Other than "trust me" he wants to cut taxes by 20% (5 TRILLION dollars), take Investment Income taxes to ZERO (95% of mitts income is investment income), increase military spending by 2 TRILLION dollars, claims removing tax breaks will pay for it. Just who is he going to borrow the money from to pay for all this?

Trust a Republican to bash the Unions! While I know that the teachers union is not perfect, the way he talked he wants to get rid of ALL unions! Of course this has been the goal of the right wing for many years. They would JUST LOVE a Country made up of nothing but "right to work states!" That way they can trash all the labor laws that the Unions got into place to protect workers. And not to mention pay a fair wage for that work! But you see the right don't care about any of that, they want to "take this country back", yeah, back to the 1920s. When the working people of this Nation had little to no say in their work environment. A "defining moment" absolutley, because the Middle class will no longer exist, if this man becomes the President!!

I know that there are some women out there who will vote for Robme/Lyan but I will never understand how they could reach that conclusion. As far as women's rights are concerned, Robme/Lyan believe that we should just shut up and let the men make all the decisions for us. You can see that from the people they chose to marry.........totally subservient to the men in their lives! The problem is, they want the rest of us to "fall in line". You've heard the rhetoric that comes from the repubes with regard to women, we've all heard it. When someone tells you who they are, BELIEVE THEM! The republicans have some messed up ideas about women and rape, rape and pregnancy, contraceptives for women, equal pay for equal work for women.......the list goes on and on! If you are a woman and vote for Romney, you must not like being a woman very much. Those idiots want women to step into the "wayback machine". If you are a woman, think about what these repubes want for and from us. Think about how much ground we and our daughters stand to lose. They will get the SCOTUS completely under their control and then what? Think about who is REALLY on our side.......a man who has two daughters of his own, a man surrounded by women in his immediate family on a daily basis, a man that I watched sign the Lily Ledbetter bill into law. If we lose ground now, it will be a hell of long time before we can get it back. You heard Mourdock make his insane statement the other day and you heard him try to walk it back the next. That's exactly what they do. They tell us who they are and when they realize that the sheet has hit the fan, they try to hide who they really are. How could we vote for people who are too stupid to realize the power of women? Hell, they couldn't even have gotten here without a women! Time to remind these little men what REAL women are about!

Do we really think "trickle out to the Caymen Islands" economics will work for all American families?

And let's kill health care insurance for millions and, while we're at it, literally kill thousands of Americans... and send most back into the abyss of medical debt?

And we don't need no stinkin' education.

And another couple of Supreme Court conservatives sure should finish off any semi-progressive rulings.

Women's rights? Minority's rights? Equal opportunities and equal pay?

Yes, a defining moment for American families for sure.

Some people will read my post, above, and say "yea, but... the economy!" They'll cry that we cannot load our kids down with the debt the president has laid on us. They will cite Romney's business credentials and find some supporting data for the support of a revenue neutral 20% tax cut (pick a number). They will cite the last debate as a soft Romney and that all their previous fears of the man are now resolved.

Doe that about sum up the argument?

The facts, however, are clear and have not changed just because Romney's handlers let out more leash.

Tax cuts are considered to be "temporary measures with limited effect" by most economists worth their salt. We can look at the Bush tax cuts as a clear example. Did they provide a stimulus effect? Yes, they did... an untargeted one, but a stimulus none the less. Their effectiveness was higher in year one, much less in year two, and non-existent by year three. By the third year, tax cuts become a liability... they have little stimulus effect, generate loads of debt, continue to be untargetted, and, if you try to revoke them, will actually be an "unstimulus" and will hurt the economy.

And Romney wants to double-down on Bush. Romney's plan is crap... a temporary bump at best, a huge debt creator at worst. And, anyway you look at it, his plan does NOT support defense spending increases. What it DOES support is the need for additional cuts to support structures, infrastructure improvements, research and development, etc. He will make our current deficit look good. He risks taking us over the cliff at full speed.

BO,

stop talking. Know what you're talking about before you put words on paper. You don't reduce the deficit, you reduce deficit spending. Obama said he would reduce the nat'l DEBT by 50% in his first term. He added 6 trillion to the national debt. The reason we are in such bad shape is that Obama borrows over a trillion dollars every year and spends it on his favorite giveaways like solar and wind and electric cars and phones for the poor and food stamps for illegal aliens, and on and on. Then he prints money like a madman and deflates the value of the dollar and reduces yor buying power. Gasoline is skyrocketing and your food costs are soaring. I dont know if you drive or buy groceries, if you do then you know what I am talking about. Before you liberals bad mouth Romney, take an honest look at what your candidate has been and is doing. If you cant figure it out,for whatever reason, get help and have someone explain it.

A 41% loss of net worth for median income families in the last 3 1/2 years is success? ot a loss of income, but net worth, that means 41% of everything one owns is gone! It takes a lifetime to create ones net worth and Obama wiped out 41% of it! Obama needs to go, FIRE him! No company would keep a CEO that lost 41% of the company in less than 4 years. George Soros has this planned, he wants to bankrupt the nation, so he can come in and buy it for nothing! If Obama is re-elected, George Soros will own you!!!

Mitt, please stop with the plastic patriotism, you care about the average American family about as much as Charles Manson did. You are possibly the least patriotic man in the country, your loyalty is to your bank account and the Mormon Church. So why don't you just start putting the Chinese flag up behind you and your hand picked crowd when you speak, it would be more realistic.

Jody,

Donald Trump, Really?

There always seems to be some nefarious conspiracy against President Obama. College transcripts, PLEASE!

Were is your hero's tax returns?

I can't even imagine anyone expounding on Romney's behalf. The man is a shape shifting liar. He has proven that over and over. He will say anything to get elected. Is that truly the type of man, whom you want to run the country?

I don't think that the American people really want a CEO as President, in my experience that is not a formula for the advancement of the middle class. And the middle class being successful is what is going to move this country toward prosperity.

I realize Romney/Ryan cannot be responsible for all remarks made by the members of there party. BUT how can anyone with a desire to be an American Leader pander to such a base as the Republican Party now has. It is the Party of divisiveness and intolerance run by the rich to further there economic gain. They would scuttle rules and regulations that safeguard the health and economic well being of our Country.

"You see the teachers union is there, but the PTA doesn't have a union, and parents don't have unions and kids don't have unions," Romney said. "When I'm elected president we're going to make sure we have a voice for the kids of America and their parents and the teachers."

A question: Does Romney know anything about American public schools? Did he ever go to a public school in his life? Did he send any of his five kids to a public school?

Parents who want to be involved in their child's school have plenty of opportunities.

The issue isn't that all of our public schools are failing. The best public schools are doing a fine job. It's the schools in the inner cities, in the poor neighborhoods, that need help.

We need to provide ALL American children with a fine public education, not just the kids in the wealthy school districts.

Actually it is Mitt Romney's lack of definition that has turned me off. I am open minded and I vote on the issues. If my life were all about me then I would vote for Mitt however his stance on women's issues effects the women in my life. My daughters have the right to choose what to do with their bodies, they deserve equal pay for equal work and the environment and the toxins we dump has and will continue to define our health which affects health care. President Obama has vision and he is not afraid to make a declarative statement.

@1.82, h engbers: As bad as the deficit spending is now, Romney will make it even worse, since he's unwilling to cut the "sacred" parts of the budget. You don't reduce deficits by cutting PBS funding -- that's a tiny drop in the bucket.

Gasoline is skyrocketing? In August 2008, before the crash and when Bush was still in office, the national average gas price was almost $4.00 a gallon. This week it's $3.62. In fact, if you look at the charts of average gasoline prices over history and smooth out the short-term ups and downs, gasoline prices generally follow economic activity -- including a huge collapse in prices from nearly $4.00 a gallon in August 2008 to a low of $1.61 in December 2008. Gas prices fell off a cliff in late 2008 just like the economy did, and have been slowly rising since then -- just like the economy.

Food prices are soaring? Maybe somewhere in the world, but not here in the U.S. The all-food CPI increased only 0.8% in 2010 -- the lowest food inflation since 1962. The food-at-home CPI for that year rose only 0.3% -- the lowest annual increase since 1967. In 2011, we saw higher food inflation, with all-food rising 3.7% and food-at-home rising 4.8%. But food inflation has slowed considerably in 2012, and is on track for an annual CPI between 2.5% and 3.5% in both the all-food and food-at-home categories. The effects of the drought have not yet shown up at either the grocery store or at restaurants, but are expected to push food inflation to as much as 4.0% in 2013 -- regardless of who is president.

So yes, I do drive and and I do buy groceries, but I still don't know what you're talking about. Before you conservatives bad mouth Obama, take an honest look at the data about our economy, jobs, salaries and inflation. If you can't figure it out for whatever reason, get help and have someone explain it.

I have to say I agree with Romney on this one. The election is about defining yourself and the US - do you 1) love yourself, your fellow citizens and your country; or 2) you are Republican? You can't love yourself, your fellow citizens or this country and be on the Right, endorsing ideas that make things worse for everyone (but the to 1-2%), following a path of hatred toward anyone not identical to you (be it ethnicity, religion, of whom they love); and calling for more and endless war where millions are affected because a phony "News" channel tells you you should or Talking Heads who are idiotic or self-proclaimed "entertainers" tell you you should.

Either march proudly toward the future or admit you are Sheeple and get out of the way; Progress will happen regardless of you wanting it to or not. All the Sheeple can do is postpone it a bit, but in doing so, they show they and their Right-Wing ideas are all about hate and a desire to do nothing for anyone else (including family and friends, and for those not in the top 1-2%, themselves).

h engbers - You are wrong

Obama said he would reduce the nat'l DEBT by 50% in his first term

President Obama said he would cut the deficit in half. The deficit was 459 billion at the time. Then he was handed a 1423 billion deficit by Bush... who knew. President Obama's 2013 deficit is estimated to be 901 billion or a 512 billion reduction from Bush's last budget, but actually more than 459 billion he promised to cut in half. You apparently get your facts for the same source as Romney gets his foreign policy advice... Fox News. One could argue that President Obama would have had to cut 712 billion to keep his promise, and he probably would have reached that goal if the Republican would have given him an ounce of cooperation. However, the facts are they did not. To cut the US debt in half would require the government not spending any money for over two years. How do you think that would turn out?

#1.94 - Thu Oct 25, 2012 8:27 AM EDT

I see several posters talking about the 40% net worth loss by the middle class while the rich increased theirs by 13%. Obama had nothing to do with either one.

The collapse of the real estate market, the collapse of the economy, and artificially low taxes at the top (which Obama has been trying to rid us of for four years) are the direct cause of this dilemma.

Most of what the middle class has in assets (net worth) is (was) real estate. When real estate dumped, their net worth dumped. That was a done deal before Obama took over and only 10 or 20 years of positive market forces will bring that net worth back... if ever.

Of course the economy also contributed. On a steep slide downward before Obama got here, jobs and businesses were lost. That, too, contributed to the net worth lost by the middle class. The stimulus, tax cuts, unemployment extension, and special programs helped, but this also will take decades to recover... I won't say "if ever" on the economy because it's already looking recoverable.

But how did the rich avoid these same trappings? There are only two contributors... Layoffs in front of a stabilizing economy provided unexpected high profits and low demand combined with artificially low PERSONAL taxes at the top led to the big "feed by greed"... the rich got richer by taking profits out of the system instead of creating jobs.

Consider...

The Fortune 500 companies made record profits during this great recession.

These same companies reinvested record lows back into their companies. Less equipment, little or no expansion, no jobs.

These same companies then provided record breaking paydays... both in amount and frequency... to their company officers... the highest in history.

And guess what... during this same period... while Americans were dying on the vine... transfers to off-shore accounts hit record highs, with some estimates topping a total of $100 Trillion stuffed in these rich mattresses... taken OUT of our economy.

And the enabler for all this wealth transfer?

LOW PERSONAL TAXES AT THE TOP... plain and simple.

The Romney Plan... doubles down on stupid... unless you're rich, of course.

Romney is correct when he said it is a defining moment for U.S. families. If he is elected, there will be a sharp rise in the number of homeless families. They will be sleeping in the streets at the mercy of whatever charitable organizations might be willing or able to help them. The elderly will be eating dog food, and dying on the curb-sides for lack of medical care. We will finally have achieved the status of India, a nation with a handful of billionaires and the rest, rag pickers. That's my vision of the United States under a Romney/Ryan administration.

I'm a salaried Union auto worker, Basically a white collar union employee

I'm happy that you have your job, saved by obama, while tens of thousands of non-union workers lost their jobs in the same deal. Your wages, your pensions, etc are part of what caused the auto industries financial problems. Unions have no place in this country anymore, especially public unions. The only union that seems to be smart is the coal union, and that's only because obama has trashed on them.

1) love yourself, your fellow citizens and your country; or 2) you are Republican?

I guess you're saying that the high majority of our military doesn't love this country since they are voting for Romney, very nice. Always good to stereotype.

I'll be voting for Romney because obama has screwed my backyard:

1. Groceries are more expensive and going up even more while we put corn in our gas tanks (proven to be worse than gas in all aspects)

2. Health insurance is going up dramatically. My wife finally got a raise this year, along with a health insurance increase of 10%. Her net pay check is now less than it was before the raise.

3. I haven't had a raise in three years, bonuses gone. We're still trying to live on less than what our combined incomes were three years ago, while the cost of everything is higher.

4. Gas is still high (while he takes credit for more gas being pumped on private lands, which he had nothing to do with)

This also goes along with his dumbass wife screwing up school lunches, all the regulations that are killing small businesses, his crappy foreign policy, the list goes on.

Four years ago my wife and I voted for obama because we despised what bush had done to the country, we wanted a change.

This year, we're voting for Romney because we despise what obama has done to the country and we want a change.

Romney is a business man, he knows money more than any thing else, his own success is proof of that. Our country needs someone who knows money since the economy and jobs are our biggest issues.

My company just put out a memo of rising health insurance premiums for next year, and we have been notified Blue Cross-Blue Shield will be likely terminated in 2014, moving our plan to "one of the government coverages in order to make it affordable for you and your Company".

Perhaps, Mr. Obama forgot to pass out the KY Jelly before he screwed us ! Yes, the law of unintended consequences ..... you put a moron in charge of health care, who clearly doesn't know what he is doing, and it raises the costs to make it unaffordable !!

A government takeover of health care with new mandates raises costs SIGNIFICANTLY such that those who have had coverage for yours, now get to pay a lot more .... because NOTHING in Obamacare reduces costs !

RI Mom... very astute point and well said! The Republican forgiveness factor where Romney/Ryan's many lies are concerned, is simply amazing... in fact their whole campaign has been built on shape-shifting, changing, rearranging and just out and out fabrication. Now and then they actually leaked out the truth about something, like a Medicare voucher system, support of bills to repeal or amend women's rights and their intention to kill any National Healthcare reform. The only thing they really have to campaign on, which people (other than the wealthiest 2% could support) is the fact that in these United Hates (no typo by the way), many people would support ANYTHING, just get the black man out of their White House! That's really what it's all about. To see these toothless, mindless zombies parading around during any given tea bagger event, holding their signs proclaiming such as "Keep Your Government Hands Off of My Medicare" and "Make English the Offical Language of the US" (for real), only proves the profound ignorance and racism that drives these people's hatred of the president. I do see a distinct resemblance to the rise of Adolph Hitler (pre-WWII), regarding the Tea Party movement and all the blather we've heard the past several years from supposed "Conservatives". Their mere title, in fact is nothing more than a joke... considering their beloved leader George W's administration is responsible for the state of this country today. If you work for a living, or live on a retirement, you had best vote straight ticket Democrat, as Myth Romney will lead this country into a complete oligarchy... under the guise of fiscal conservatism. Care to know how? Read how the guy really made his fortune sometime... it certainly was NOT by helping create jobs... quite the contrary:

Romney has to win either Ohio (tied) or Wisconsin (leans Obama), while Obama must win both Ohio and Wisconsin. Iowa is now pretty much irrelevant.

    Roy

I'll bite... how are you different from the following... except of course Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa...

    Colorado (9) Romney

Florida (29) Toss up - Romney

    Michigan (16) Obama

    Nevada (6) Obama

New Hampshire (4) Toss up - Romney

    North Carolina (15) Romney

    Pennsylvania (20) Obama

Virginia (13) Toss up - Romney

    Ohio (18) Obama

    Wisconsin (10) Obama

    Iowa (6) Obama

It looks to me like you have Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia with Romney?

Personally I think Ohio is definitely Obama at the moment... how do you see that as being even?

My scenario gives Obama 277 but I keep Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia in play for Obama.

ONLY 12 MORE DAYS OF OBAMARRHEA!

Obamarrhea is what you get when you look at the abysmal past 4 years of this "historic" president.

Maasive debt, joblessness, homelessness and hopelessness.

No history of any governance or experience in economics or business.

Spitting on the Constitution time and again, ignoring that it IS a Charter of Negative Liberties.

Dividing our great Republic worse than during the Civi Rights era.

Allowing terrorists to kill Americans on our soil and abroad.

Class warfare and promoting mediocrity instead of American exceptionalism.

To cure Obamarrhea, it needs to be eliminated and flushed, once and for all.

Republicans Filibuster Everything (a Record 375 Filibusters), Then Romney Blames Obama for Not Working With Congress

Republicans record-breaking use of the filibuster is effectively changing the constitutionally structure of our government -- everything needs a super-majority of 60, instead of 51. This is not normal. It was not like this before.

The new ad from the Romney campaign blames President Obama for not reaching out and working with congressional Republicans to get things done. Yes, really. It also ballyhoos Mitt Romney's claim that he was able to work with a Massachusetts legislature that was 85 percent Democratic.

I don't know whether to be brutally outraged about this or to congratulate the Republicans on an outstanding execution of political obstruction and subsequent projection. For now, let's go with brutally outraged.

It's important to review exactly what's led us to this point. From the very beginning, congressional Republicans fell into lockstep with Rush Limbaugh and the collective wish for the Obama presidency to fail. Limbaugh set the table several days before the inauguration by telling his audience:

"So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, "Oh, you can't do that." Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it."

Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell famously told the National Journal, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

So what bills have the Republicans filibustered? To name a few (out of 375 that the GOP has blocked):

          H.R. 12 - Paycheck Fairness Act
          H.R. 448 -- Elder Abuse Victims Act
H.R. 466 - Wounded Veteran Job Security Act

          H.R. 1722 -- Telework Improvements Act
H.R. 1727 -- Managing Arson Through Criminal History (MATCH) Act

DEMOCRATS are passing bills to make things easier, and REPUBLICANS are refusing to even allow an “up or down vote.”

H.R. 1741 -- Witness Security and Protection Grant Program Act
H.R. 1796 –- Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act
          H.R. 1803 -- Veterans Business Center Act

H.R. 2093 –- Clean Coastal Environment and Public Health Act
H.R. 2134 -- Western Hemisphere Drug Policy Commission Act

Once again; Democrats PASSED the following bills, and Senate Republicans prevented these bills from even coming to a vote.

H.R. 2142 – Government Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Performance Improvement Act
          H.R. 2187 – 21st Century Green High-Performing Public School Facilities Act
H.R. 2200 – Transportation Security Administration Authorization Act
H.R. 2221 – Data Accountability and Trust Act
H.R. 2352 – Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act

          What else?

Here's an astonishing one. The Republicans filibustered the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act -- basically, healthcare for 9/11 heroes. Every Republican senator voted to filibuster this bill. I suppose the Republicans are only interested in 9/11 heroes when they're used as political props.

On the House side, every single Republican, including Paul Ryan, voted against the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act, which forces Congress to pay for new legislation through either budget cuts or revenue increases.

You'd think that by helping to pass these bills, Republicans could boast a solid record on fiscal responsibility, job creation, veterans affairs, anti-terrorism, senior citizens and, hell, 9/11 workers. Instead, they blocked all of it. Jobs for military veterans, tax cuts for small businesses -- you name it.

Why? So President Obama and the Democrats could be accused of failure.

But if you take Romney's word for it, the president is a lazy, do-nothing chief executive who's been stonewalling the Republicans. Not the other way around. I'm not sure how he doesn't pull a muscle or dislocate a shoulder by twisting himself into a pretzel like this, but it's an amazing feat of through-the-looking-glass deception.

LMarcT "Roy I'll bite... how are you different from the following...It looks to me like you have Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia with Romney?"

Yes - I have Florida for Romney by 5%, New Hampshire by 2% and Virginia by 3.5%.

Only Ohio, Wisconsin and Iowa are within 1%, and Iowa becomes irrelevant because either Romney must win Ohio OR Wisconsin, or Obama must win both.

It's 'too close to call', but I give Romney a slight edge in Ohio because the 'Undecided Voters' traditionally 'break for the challenger' by about 80% - see link for explanation.

Obama should NOT allow the GOP, nor Romney, nor Ryan to blame the debt and the slow economy on him...

              I know this much...

The President does NOT pass jobs legislation. He just signs them.

Growth only happens if the "GOP owned congress" puts bills on the table to sign.

The uncompromising GOP has blocked, stopped, voted NO, obstructed, filibustered over 500 times and made pledges to NOT create jobs or bring cash to the government just to blame ONE man.

The GOP lies and do not tell "we the people" that their policies are at fault.

ALL GOP Policies are at fault because everything is directly involved with them.

Why don't we ask Mr. Romney to do this...

              Let's do some ARITHMETIC...

#1... Name the "Obama" POLICIES and the AMOUNTS that you say added trillions to the debt and “ADD” those amounts.

#2...“DEDUCT” that Obama total from the current $16 TRILLION.

              The balance = “GOP” spending.

              DO Remember the following….

Expenses to “FIX” the GOP failed policies like TARP and the stimulus are still GOP spending and NOT Obama's fault so DO NOT count those policies.

All expenses from the previous GOP administration's “UNFUNDED” policies that Obama ADDED to his budget are ALSO Republican spending. NOT BO's

The INTEREST on the GOP TRILLIONS of debt is NOT for Obama to be responsible for either, it is GOP spending too. NOT BO's

              The GOP “OWNS” that interest.

              Also,

The “Bailouts” ARE “loans” to REPAIR more GOP screwed up policies. The GOP wanted those to be FREE of charge didn't they? It was a "going away gift" to the Banks and Wall Street from Bush. Obama made them loans.

Do not add policies before Reagan because there was NO DEBT PROBLEM before that, Reagan took office when the DEBT had ONE TRILLION and could have been tackled and fixed with comprehensive tax reform but Reagan did the opposite..

“Entitlements” are a tiny fraction of the debt and they always bring their own revenues through payroll deductions as premium payments. Entitlements are NOT free, it's paid-into insurance.

              Be sure of this….

The Republicans will try blaming a Democratic majority that never actually had “control”.

Saying that the Democrats had a "Majority" doesn't count as “control”, because we all know the GOP had the "CONTROL" with their record filibusters and obstructions.

The President should remind "We the People" that "Total Control" is having a "Filibuster proof majority". The Democrats only had it for 5 months. After Teddy died, the Republicans went on a filibuster frenzy and BLOCKED everything.

All those failed GOP policies were drafted by Republicans AND all passed with GOP majority of votes going back to Reagan.

The Republicans will NEVER have policies or numbers to blame the national debt on the Democrats because they DO NOT exist.

Look them up, I tried. They're all GOP drafted policies.

DO NOT call them "spending" if you cannot name the policies.

Every single policy at fault is GOP owned, drafted and vigorously voted by Republicans.

DO NOT get fooled into thinking it is Obama's fault.

NOW is the time to stop that Myth.

              Watch out for the following….

The Republicans and the Fox-Rush-bots are going to try to change the subject and attack the truth with insults, diversions and ridicules.

The Republicans will ask for budgets, but no one can pass budgets without Revenues. The GOP PLEDGED to NEVER raise revenues.

The Republicans will mention "bills" that are on Reid's desk. I saw all those bills. NONE are for jobs or to fix the economy. ALL of those are for reducing regulations for the rich, cutting public services, more tax cuts for corporations etc.

The Republicans will blame gas prices on Obama but will fail to explain why a President seeking re-election would do that or how he could actually influence that.

This is a WIN WIN on talks about the economy. Use it. Challenge every Republican. It will drive them mad with ZERO response.

This is NOT blaming the GOP or BUSH, this is history and ARITHMETIC!

The economy is on the President's side and the GOP's nightmare if the actual facts are told.

              Remember this...

The RNC had a huge sign that said "We built it" and underneath there was the $16 TRILLION debt clock.

              Answer this question…

“What has the GOP done for America in the last 40 years besides LIE to get elected into power?

              BO / Biden 2012.

Mitt is right, this election will be defining for American families.

If the president wins, we can look forward to more progress, more and better education, real health care, a safety net, and the wealthy finally doing their part.

Should the very worst happen and Romney lies, suppresses the vote and snatches "victory" from voters, we can look forward to a collapsing Medicare program, a stripped Medicaid program, hungry Americans due to a stripped food stamp program, women stripped of rights to their own health care decisions, and college students who can no longer afford college due to drastically increased interest on student loans if they are even available. We can look forward to wars in Iran and Syria, because war is good business for Mitt's buddies. Go ahead an vote for another republican president! I'm sure they have another recession or depression in them! And they will laugh at the sinking middle class and poor while they count their money!

A Time Magazine poll released Wednesday showed Mr. Obama with a five-point edge over Mr. Romney in Ohio, 49 percent to 44 percent, which is within the margin of sampling error. Party strategists on both sides say the race appears to be remarkably close, but two senior Republican officials here said that they believed Mr. Obama had a slight advantage and that they worried that Mr. Romney’s gains had leveled off.

Wait until the last debate polls roll in.

While Mr. Obama can win re-election by carrying Iowa, Ohio and Wisconsin, in addition to holding the other Democratic-leaning states across the country, Mr. Romney must capture more states. Even if he wins Ohio, Mr. Romney still must win Florida, North Carolina, Virginia — and one more state.
Obama leads by 5 points in Ohio. Not good for Wrongme.

But projecting confidence — and reminding voters of the debates — is now a central piece of Mr. Romney’s strategy. He told supporters on Wednesday that the Obama campaign was “slipping and shrinking,” a phrase that his aides say he intends to carry into Ohio.

“I’m not sure whether you’ve been watching TV, but we’ve had a number of debates lately. Have you noticed that?” Mr. Romney said, speaking to a crowd in Reno. “They have really propelled our campaign. We’re seeing that across the country.”

Yes, we have, Mr. RobotMe - and RobotMe lost the last two - even though he tried to shape-shift his way around them.

Romney Upbeat, but Math Is the Same

It was my understanding that there would BE no math!!! LOL at the idiot Wrongme that thinks he can buy the election like he has bought everything his entire privilaged life.

You can bitch about either one, but they are both a product of our crappy American system. George Carlin said it best.. Watch if you choose... He wasn't just a comedian. This man had a real way of looking at real situations, and gave you no PC sugar coating BS. I miss him.

Clearly, in the last four years, the GOP has demonstrated that they are more than willing to put party interests (which they equate with the interests of their fat cat corporate sponsors) over the interests of the country and/or its citizens! You are an example of their screwed up priorities!

Too bad. So sad. Don't be mad. Romney's been had.

And so it goes. The planet yet spins. The seasons come and go. We live. We die. Hopefully, we learn to really do the best we can. Mother Earth is quite a lady. Someday, our progeny will get to meet some of Her Siblings. What a grand thought.

JVP2: Based on your comment, a jackass capable of holding a pen in its mouth could be the president.

The president should be a leader and guide the nation, but all we got was a jackass.

If you were paying attention, you would understand that the Prez can't sign a bill that hasn't made it through Congress. Where are the bills for him to sign?

                Where are they?

Why our Country does not need Republicans in Congress or in the white House:

1.) Republicans (Romney, Ryan, Mourdock, AKIN, ETC., ETC.) say they want a smaller Govt.; but

they DO WANT to get into our bedrooms and medicine cabinets. These are the worst ultimate

Un-American traits any political leader could ever have, esp. when 83% of Americans approve of

an abortion where rape is involved. There are over 32 million rapes a year.

So, it’s have that baby, or go to jail!! Then the rapist fathers have the right to the child’s care,

visitation rights, etc. According to Republicans, it’s not okay for an abortion of unborn baby

(or unfertilized egg) to be aborted. But, it is okay for the Republicans voting for 2 wars that

killed millions. It sounds a little hypocritical or contradicting at its best. Yet, Romney nationally

declares his support for Murdock with his views of rape and abortion in all cases.

They want a smaller Govt.; but control your healthcare choices with your bodies.

2.) Republicans have stooped deep down into the "Valley of Name Calling with Racial Bigotry".

3.) Mourdock, Akin, etc., is Romney and Ryan unmasked in full view for their true beliefs.

4.) Bain Capital owns Senesta (whose current profit is over $470 Million for the 3rd quarter) ahead

of the closing scheduled in Dec. (which Romney serves on the Board of Trustees, has invested

$8 million dollars in the co., and holds stocks), has threatened their employees with shutting

the company down immediately. They would send all the Senesta jobs overseas to China ahead

of schedule, if they don’t stop their protesting right this minute. Another Bain Co. tells their

employees what Pres. they will vote for, and if they don’t then they will be laid off immediately

(no benefits, no unemployment benefits, etc. with sending the jobs to China.

Republicans want NO UNIONS, just a DICTATORSHIP UNDER THEIR CONTROL. But

Lobbyists or Special interest Groups sponsored by the wealthy elite are okay.

In the past, Romney had shipped jobs overseas in the past (for .24 cents to $1.00 per hour),

then there is no reason to believe that he will not do the

same later, if elected as Pres. He’s shown his true chameleon ways.

5.) Romney claims that he supports 100% of all people, while at the same time saying on

National TV that he doesn’t care about the lazy non-working 47%, who don’t pay any taxes.

6.) Republicans claim that rape (a prominent crime) involving pregnancy is “God’s Will” and

a “Gift of God!?!” They want to legitimize rape, force the women to give birth, but want

to take away such entitlements of food stamps, birth control, healthcare, unemployment

compensation, SS, etc., etc. an intimidation to help punish the women during their

pregnancy, etc. “Trust them”, they know what is best for our needs.

7.) Republicans feel that it is their RIGHT to lie, cheat, steal, etc., etc. to win the election,

                or achieve their goals.

8.) Republicans feel that they don’t have to explain to the American people how they will cover

the loss of revenue to replace the increased spending to cover the vast military expansion,

$3 trillion in Tax cuts for the wealthy elite. But they’ll tell us after the election (that the

middle class will need to pay higher taxes---to cover all the tax loopholes for the privileged

elite). But for now, they say, “Trust Us!!!!” LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9.) Republicans need to learn how to become real Americans, and serve all the constituents

                Instead of the 1% elite.

10.) Romney during the debate says the elite need more money to hire new workers.

But, it didn’t work under Bush as the deficit grew at a much faster pace. The elite

                horded their tax cuts.

11.) Romney says he wants to expand the military expenses. We all know that military

expansions means increased military/civilian highly profitable contracts at the expense of

our Government. These projects are offered to politician’s buddies (i.e.: Dick Chaney, etc.).

Do we really have the money for more wars, equipment that the military claims they DO

NOT WANT? Haven’t we already lost too many young lives over 2 unnecessary wars?

12.) Romney says take their word and trust them on the important issues. They feel that they

have the right to enforce their own religion on others with different beliefs. Is this their

new form of Democracy (under a controlled leadership and policies)??

13.) Ryan has already suggested removing the minimium wage salaries. Do you think that you

can survive on less income????? Is this a revised form of Gestapo leadership under the

Bush/Chaney regime, or going back to Bush’s old failed policies???? Is this a leadership

going back to the Dark Ages????

14.) Mitch Mc says it’s the Democrats’ fault for the comments coming from Akin and

Mourdock . Besides never once “manning up” and taking responsibility for their actions

                and lack of self-control.

15.) With just the above comments, is this the new kind of new leaderships that you want

                for a Pres.???

16.) Isn’t it time that the poor, elderly, middle class, women, and the disabled stand up to the

Republicans, elite, and Congress by saying, “NO” to the Republican selfishness,

self-serving, entitlements rights for only the elite, name calling racial slurs

(the latest coming from Trump and Palin today)??

17.) Do you really want Romney/Ryan both with no foreign policy experience??

Look at what happened to Romney’s overseas visit with 3 stops this past summer.

He insulted our long standing allies and infuriated the leaders in the first, two

of three stops. This is the worst kind of President any country could have.

18.) Romney profited highly from gutting companies and sending them overseas for

humongous profits and paying around 2.9% to the IRS taxes for many years until

he decided that he would run for Pres. a year and a half ago. Romney will go

back to the fairy tale capitol with low wages that will destroy the few jobs left

                here in the U.S.

19.) Romney said in his debate that his policies are different from Bush. Yet, take a

close look at who is serving on Romney’s staff ??? His staff consists with many

of Bush’s former staff members to include Condolisa Rice campaigning for

Romney. He claims to be different from Bush. Yet, he wants to expand the

Defense spending, and lower even more taxes for the elite.

19.) Republican’s feel that it is their democratic right to suppress voting among the possible

                Democratic voters.

20.) Stand up and don’t give up all your rights to the Republican uncaring dictators. Send

them a message that you disapprove and will not vote for any Republican until

they reform their Party’s ugly self-serving ways. They are a disgrace as individuals.

They lack integrity, lack honesty, and are dishonorable leaders in our Country. Romney

says one thing and then does another thing. Don’t place “blind trust” in a person,

who acts like a chameleon changing colors on the hour by the hour.

You can trust them to do what they said they won’t do after the election.

They will go back to old policies from the “Dark Ages”!!

Send the Republicans a message by voting them out of office and voting for a straight Democratic ticket in 2012.

Get out and vote now!! Don’t let them intimidate you into submission of doing what they want.

                Vote Obama/Biden in 2012!!!!

Have you noticed how the Republicans have shown NO RESPECT towards the President even at formal events. Are the good ole' bigoted, white boys (like: Trump, Mitch, John, etc.) having difficulty take orders from a well-educated black man holding the highest position/office in the U.S. (something that the majority of them will never have for themselves)??

He's so accustomed to lies and spin that he doesn't have a clue who or what his empty suit stands for.

He's a Romney minion, believing in the lies and fairy tales that Mitt Romney will open the floodgates of opportunity for all Americans to get rich, super rich, mega rich!!

IDO wants a car elevator and a dancing horse, and he thinks he'll get those if Romney wins.

He'd be lucky to get a ride on an elevator and a pet cockroach out of a Mitt Romney administration.

                Here's the BOTTOM LINE.....

Mittens is part of the Bush Brothers Junk Investments Conglomerate that sold little old ladies so many "Junk Bonds" in the 1980's that they DESTROYED the S & L Industry (Like in that Jimmy Stewart Movie, "It's A Beautiful Life" - where the evil Mr. Bush....Oops! I mean Mr. Potter was out to, "...destroy their dusty old savings and loan...," and, "....turn the place into "Potterville"....; you know, like a bunch of Pre-Enlightenment {ONCE Americas 'Greatest Export'} European Peasants living on 'His Lord Potters Estates'!), which was then "bailed out" by the TAX-PAYER FUNDED FSLIC.

Soooo....They got RICH off of US!

Now, in 1999, that same clique had that Traitor - Sen. Phil Gramm - UNDO 'The Glass-Steagal Act of 1933', so that they could 'merge' investment and commercial banking institutions, sell little old ladies 'Junk Debt-based so-called "securities"', and then - after it all came crashing down, JUST LIKE THEY'D PLANNED ALL ALONG (You know, when they had "W" STEAL the White House, so that he could "take us down", right AFTER Gramm "set us up") - they 'invented' TARP, etc., to force US, the Taxpayer, to bail ourselves out again.

Sooooo....in other words, they GOT RICH off of US - AGAIN!!!!

Now....that's just their Financial Chicanery; now I'm just going to 'hint' at their 'social agenda', by pointing out that I (Who got a USAF SSGT, stationed at Bergstrom AFB, AUSTIN TEXAS, Court Marshaled, for tryng to recruit ME into the "Jr. KKK") was seriously MESSED WITH by BOTH the Austin Texas Ku Klux Klan AND the National Alliance.....both of whom told me that they'd, "Been waiting for YEARS for an Administration to come into power that would 'see things more their way'"......and then concluding with the Historical Fact that, after the Civil War, the Confederate Loyalists stole the Gold backing the Con-Fed Dollar, took it overseas, and then used it to 'crash and burn' the "Union Economy" so man y times that we (J.P. Morgan, who lost his BUTT more than once) eventually had to abandon the "Gold Standard" and create the Federal Reserve System!

Now...ask yourselves, in a world of White Boyz pushing the Gold Standard, un-doing the Federal Reserve System, and every kind of 'Evangelical Blatherer' (You know, like the Evangelical Blather they uised to "justify" slavery!) in the Country trying to "push" their "Obama is a NAZI, Commie, Muslim, Space Alien" crapolla; do you see a PATERN, here?

We learn in psychology that people tend to pick out and criticsize in OTHER PEOPLE that which they MOST DESPISE ABOUT THEMSELVES!!!

We learn from History that "Patriotism" (and "Nationalism") is the Last Bastion of SCUMBAGS!!!

And when was the last time you filled up your car for 1.86 a gal.

And have you noticed that BLS.GOV's inflation is only 1.7%, when in fact it is near 10%. More now of food stamps than ever.

And if you look at history the POOR will pay more under a liberal who does not understand economics but is pushing total reliance on the government to take care of them. Salvation is not with the gov't.

Obama took over more than student loans, and we all know it. He ran off the oil rigs in the Gulf to his buddy Chavez and Soros made a bundle.

Electrical rates went up due to the EPA receiving a presidential EO...Obama has violated the constitution on more than one occassion via massive issuance of EO's. More EOs under Obama than any previous president.

The middle class is being pushed down, and you know it.

You clowns prob don't pay a penny to the IRS, but the wealthy are already paying more than their fair share to keep you in the life style you have come accustomed to...and in turn those that create jobs (which you prob don't want to work in the first place) are moving about in order to remain competitive.

Housing market, talk to Clinton, Dodd/Frank. All dems who let people who had no income to buy homes which lead to the bubble. And if you still want a no down payment mortgage go to USDA. It is still alive...and with the FEDERAL RESERVE buying up 40B in mortgages to push down the interest rates will not help the poor. Obama has great influence over the FEDERAL RESERVE. Turbo Tax Timmy came from that outfit.

The DEMS had their chance. They controlled Congress from 2006 to 2010. Obama only passed ObamaCare which contains upfront funding (illegal) and it contains over 10 ways to tax people including the poor. IRS to plus up to 17K people.

Foreign affairs, the man is either clueless or is facilitating it.

Are you better off or or you being paid to post?

Let's go on to the pipe line, Holder (he really works for Obama dontcha know) How could it be racism if an Afro-American suppressed the vote Holder.

Obama the uniter, did nothing to unite America. He has failed policies due to his inability to do suck or he is divisive for a reason.

Look to the EU if you keep Obama in for another 4 years. They (the adminstration) will be cutting what they control...and they can cut SS, federal pay, cut retirees. That's about 50M people. In doing so, Obama raises up his army since he insists it wasn't him that caused this and did this.

El Presidente, MUST GO! Alinsky, I attended some of his talks in the 60's. My major was SOC and I spent over 33 years with DoD. Soc profs told us to get into the federal government. Some in the agencies were more serious than I. I actually took an ethics class of non-interference. Watch, document and theorize, Neo-Marxist with a Durkheimian outlook on life.

I was taught by a card carrying communist from UK. They tossed him out and the US took him in during the 50's. He was the head of the UK Communist Party. He was taught by the son of Durkheim..

BTW, I saw thru it all by reading history books on what happened to Communist nations. We aren't there till we make it thru socialism. But it evolves into Communism. AND it is suppose to be a NATURAL process...not a DESIGNED PUSH by wealthy DEMOCRATS.

Can anyone say MOOOOOO. Keep it up and you'll get what you think you want but you too will become disillusioned in the end.

Like I said above.....They're very seriously a bunch of "Neo-Confederates" who're still out to 'get back at those damned yankees', by crashing and burning the Union Economy; or, a bunch of 'willing, Neo-NAZI KKKollaborating dupes' who're 'in it for the money'.

Like I said above, my National Alliance and KKK Enemies told me, in late May of 2003, right after a Mentally Ill Jewess who I once knew named Jessica Dolin had been 'found dead' - supposedly by 'suicide', although I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT! - and a Mentally Challenged African American woman-child named Jessica Williams was beaten to death, sliced open, hosed with lighter fluid, and set on fire under Portland Oregons Steel Bridge - that they'd been, "Waiting for YEARS for an administration to come into power that would 'see things more their way'!"

                Say.....know what T4 was?

                Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiergartenstra%C3%9Fe_4

You see, they also told me that they'd, "Solve the Social Security Crisis by shutting down the SSDI Program, and RE-OPENING Tiergarten 4!"

WE HAVE BEEN REPELLED FROM OMAHA BEACH - BY GEORGE W. BUSH AND HIS BUDDIES - LIKE MARINE LePEN OF Le FRONT NATIONALE!!!

Romney says "You see the teachers union is there, but the PTA doesn't have a union" Ok PTA Parents TEACHERS Association. They do have a union its called the Teachers union. And by the way why would he make such a specious argument. The PTA is cooperative effort between Parents and Teachers for the betterment of the student. They are union like. Sometime these guys think we will fall for anything.

I am going off topic with the article being discussed, but I just heard about Donald Trump's offer of five million to Obama's favorite charity "if" he agrees to release his college transcripts and passport records and applications. Just when I thought this campaign couldn't sink to a lower level. Trump manages to "trump" my expectations. This is absolutely disgraceful! Yet another less than subtle inference that our President is not as American as Trump is, not even entitled to the same respect as others who have occupied the noble and highest ranking office in our nation.

All of you Republicans/TeaPartier's who were raking Michelle Obama over the goals for her comment on her husband's 2008 election about being the first time she was proud to be an American, well, you need to walk a few miles in her and her husband's shoes. Because guess what? This kind of third class elitist behavior is exactly why she said what she did. It's something they are being subjected to on a daily basis, it never ends. Even in this advanced day and age we still have to put up with a closet faction of bigots and racists, masquerading as educated voters. As much as I've tried to get past the outright disrespect, the picket signs early on portraying Obama as a witchdoctor, and other blatant stereotypes, the planned and enforced obstruction from elected Republicans in Congress. McConnell's glee in announcing their agenda to make Obama a one term President, Trump's ongoing bull run of idiocy, and every other bigot with a closed mind that's had their hand in the insanity pie that encompasses what passes for the extreme far right these days.

As much as we'd all like to believe that racism is a thing of the past, think again. It's alive and well and it's found a comfy new home in the far right. The Right (and if ever a misnomer existed this would be it), has blasphemed Obama from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet from DAY ONE, so don't try and feed me that old he can't run on his record crap. He could have found the cure for cancer and you would still find fault with him. You don't care about his record, never have, never will. You're just pissed beyond logical thought that he's in the White House. A black man in the White House, the nerve! And you've had a festering scratch that you just can't itch ever since. You just keep citing made up reasons to try and justify an unfounded hatred. As a party, you've maligned his race, his birthplace, his citizenship, his loyalty, his family history and origin, his commitment, his integrity, his qualifications, his education, his law degrees, his teaching credentials, his I.Q., his honesty, and his many attempts to reach across the aisle. You throw around accusations like they were pocket change, with only supposition and hate to back them up.

No other President in our history has ever been subjected to this type of a vindictive and coordinated smear campaign. Your comrades, usually in the name of God no less, attempt to suppress the vote and block the way of Democrat leaning state districts. You want to keep women in their place, barefoot, pregnant, and uneducated. And all the while waving the flag and genuflecting at your chosen house of worship, because somehow you believe that if you confess your sins each night it gives you carte blanche to commit even more sins the next day. But why? I kept wondering what could have triggered it, beyond the obvious of course. Why this administration? Why this time? Why this man? And then it hit me. You're finally understanding that the days of the good old boy network is going the way of the dinosaur, and you're scared. Scared out of your mind. Scared to the point of desperation.

Your centuries of tedious groundwork to keep the lower classes, the non-white races, the non desirables, the untouchables, the poor, the needy, in place are coming undone, unraveling before your very eyes. Soon the white man will be the minority and your reign will finally come to an end, and with it the kind of bigotry we've witnessed these past four years. Natural selection, finally evening the playing field. Getting rid of what no longer works, what has outlived its usefulness, and substituting something more evolved. (And only the right can manage to turn the word evolved in something bad). But instead of moving/changing with the natural wave of growth and progression, you instead set yourselves on a desperate path of destruction, and in your blind frenzy, your mass hysteria, to keep things static, you're more than willing to take the rest of us down with you. And this insidious net of overall delusion and corruption is wide enough to capture not only white men, make no mistake. There are white woman as well, just as much to blame. In fact, this kind of disease, ironically, makes no destinations, as it extends to every other race as well, black, white, brown, you name it. Spreading wide to infect every woman, every man who pledges their misguided allegiance to this kind of madness. Too many people are narcissistic enough to claim superiority not only on the basis of skin color, but power, greed, and wealth as well, and history has taught us that they tend to run and vote in the same pack.

Donald Trump, to you and all those on the right who have joined your campaign of hate against our President Barack Obama: You're acting like children, spoiled, selfish, self-centered children, and the lot of you need a good sound spanking, and a very long nap. Face it. Admit it. Quit all the doublespeak. You hate him because you, with your narrow minded view of the world, resent that he even had the audacity to run for office, not only to have run, and against a white man to boot, but to have actually been elected. And it eats at you that despite all your efforts to bring him down, day after day, he keeps getting back up, he's still standing. And he'll win too. Given the state of our world, I'm sad to say, he's probably been subjected to worse. The only thing that is different with Obama than any other President in our history is one thing - he's black. And you just can't stomach it, can you? Even four years later, it's our way or nobody wins. You've taken what should have been a historic and amazing time in our combined history and turned it into a mockery. America the beautiful? America, the home of the free? These phrase may look good in print, but thanks to people like you, we still have a way to go. If we have yet to get past this asinine, unthinking, neanderthal and unenlightened prejudice, than i contend that we have nothing to be proud of, and in fact we should all be hanging our heads in shame.

Citizen's United, the corporations are people too poster child, has one saving grace, in that it's allowed the bottom scum to rise to the top of the pond for all to see, by giving Trump, the Koch brothers, and the rest of their ilk an unfiltered soapbox to shout their prejudices to the four winds. When Obama won the election in 2008 that night, I wept with joy. I really thought we had reached a milestone, I was so proud. So patriotic, it overwhelmed me with a feeing of accomplishment and at that one glorious moment we were finally all one people, united together, without regard to race, religion, or class. By the time of his inauguration though mere weeks later, it had already begun to fall apart, when those republicans met in shadows with a evil plan to bring down our government with a wall of obstruction, lies, slurs, and outright hate.

We should all be ashamed, all of us, for different reasons: Republicans/TeaPartiers for their blind hatred, which they obviously value far more than they do the best interests of our nation, the media who has traded good and honest journalism for shock entertainment, the one percent who are seeking to buy our election because apparently no amount of money is ever enough, every single individual who is planning to cast their vote for Romney and thereby validating their ends justifies the means tactics, plus myself and all my fellow Obama supporters, because we've allowed Obama to carry this travesty too long on his own without marching in the streets demanding a radical change, a return to sanity, because like it or not, every freedom we've gain in our country's history is right now in danger of being taken away. And as much as I lamented the fact that Martin Luther King Jr. wasn't alive to witness Obama's historic win in 2008, I am now relieved that he didn't have to witness these past four years of abuse and racism, led by the Republicans/TeaPartiers.

I was proud of America then too, Michelle, the night of your husband's election... but I'm nowhere near proud now.

                Obama/Biden

Nice rant. The President has re-stoked the fire of racism and Trump is just an attention junkie...much like Gloria Allred and her attempt to unseal the divorce records of a former Staples executive from decades ago. Let go of the race card... it's not about race, it's about Americans who suffer and a failed Presidency.

Are we better off today than we were four years ago?

                Yes we are!!

We are better off, because we no longer are losing 7000 jobs per month, instead creating new jobs.

We are better off because the economy is growing rather than contracting at 6%.

We are better off because the DOW is up over 5,000 points in the last 4 years.

We are better off, because Osama is dead and GM is alive.

We are better off, because we no longer are fighting war in Iraq and spending billions of dollars of US tax payers’ money there.

We are better off because we now have a well defined policy in Afghanistan, and we have dismantled the Al-Quada.

We are better off, because we have a president who is working to build the middle class everyday.

Yes, but more work needs to be done but we are much better off that we were in 2008.

This election boils down to the fundamentals that built this county...the constitution and freedoms that no other country enjoys like we do... or socialism. I will define socialism for you: Economic system characterized by social ownership of the production and co-op management of the economy and a political philosophy. Also see Marx, Carl. In other words...bye bye private enterprise. BO wants to enlarge government control of your life, increase entitlements and redistribute wealth. How hard is it to understand this?

Hmmm . . . based on your economic definition (and reality) we are not a socialist economy, nor are we headed there. We are a capitalist society with regulatory protections built in to protect us from monopolies, cartels, and unfair trade practices.

But your comment raises a few other questions in response.

Why is it that the preponderance of the (so called) jobs bills and budgets passed by the Republican House included components or amendments that are intrusive and/or restricted individual liberties and/or provided free reign to businesses to do as they chose without regard to impacts on people? And wouldn't those "jobs bills", if passed and signed by the President into law, result in enlarged government control of our lives, increase corporate entitlements, and redistribute wealth (upwards, same as previous administration policies). Isn't that EXACTLY what you are fussing about? Not to mention the overlap (instead of separation) of Church and State in violation of the Constitution.

Clearly the very laws and protections you are fussing about are what helps to define and protect our individual liberties, our markets, and our society as a whole. Yet you claim that this is socialism.

To quote a favorite movie line, "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."

wow, lucky...how many lies can you tell in one rant? Obama had jobs before...lawyer, teacher, community organizer...oh, i know you don't think they are valid, but they are jobs. You lie about where he is from...he has evidence you nutjobs ignore. Almost everything you said has been fact checked to death and proven false. ( i do think you are right that he never had his own business, but that has never been a requirement for the Presidency has it? Never mind...arguing with a hate filled person who can not even acknowledge the President is an american is pointless. You are not interested in the truth and wouldn't recognize it if it smacked you in the face. you are in the right party and voting for the right candidate.

My folks in La. were mad b/c Obama hired New Orleans residents to sit in his B.P. press conferences instead of Plaquemine parish residents. Paid them $5.00 an hour. he is underhanded and evil and a hypocrite. Joe Biden gave $300 last year to the poor. Romney gave 3 million. Facts are very stubborn things.

Robme will need a miracle to get the electoral votes he needs to win lucky. Obama only needs Ohio, Wisconsin, and NV with what RCP says he already has pretty well locked to make 271. Even if Romney took EVERY other swing state INCLUDING FL, NC AND VA (which I doubt will happen) he'd still only have 267 electoral votes.

lucky, unless you are a woman, shut the hell up on the war on women thing. We get to decide if we think the GOP plan is a war on women or Obama's is. For most of us, ( not all), we think it is a war when men decide that we must bear our rapist's child, when the GOP decides we do not get to decide what medical procedures we want, and in fact, GOP men decide that we MUST have certain procedures whether we want them or whether they are even medically necessary, when the GOP men vote that we are not deserving of equal pay for the same job as men, and when the GOP men decide they can no longer vote for the Violence against women act because illegal women and gay women were added....when Viagra is ok to be covered under insurance policies but contraception is not....we think the men of the GOP, the RR team, and yes, Lucky, people like you, are declaring a war on women...and we are fighting back.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of Idiots such as those who made him their president." (said to be an English translation of an article in the Prague newspaper, Prager Zeitung)

Right you are Willard, this election will be defining for American families. Do we want a President who wants to create a million manufacturing jobs or a pioneer of outsourcing? Do we want a President committed to everyone having health insurance or one who says call and ambulance when you have a heart attack? Do we want a President committed to keeping Social Security strong or one who looks at it as another potential profit center for his buddies on Wall Street? Do we want a President committed to seniors having their Medicare benefit there when they need it or someone who wants to have them a voucher and them tell them "good luck." I have already cast my ballot and made the obvious choice!

I don't think Trump has $5 million. If he did, how are Obama's school records (which aren't sealed, just private) and passport relevant? He's been doing a hell of a job for several years now, and should be judged on his current performance and the projected outcomes of his plan. And, every time he's being judged, the scorecards should FLASH how much obstruction from the GOP prevented success or bogged down the process.

For Obama it looks like the bumps in the road are to many to over come by Nov. 6, 2012.

Obama did someone forget to tell you that you can't lie to America and the world.

America knows it's Romney/Ryan time for America.

I think he does not understand those repubs vote with their hormones or racism or extreme religious views or other hate motivators controlling their brain more than their brain controlling the brain, or they think they will be held accountable some day for voting in the conspiracy pols like Nixon and others being named by book writers and movie makers every year or two. They should not worry if they did not know who they voted for was going to do those bad things, voting for anyone is legal.

Lucky If Obama hates America so much why did he place most of his investments in US treasury bonds. If Mitt Romney loves America so much why did he place his money in off-shore bank accounts. Think about it or are you incapable of logical thought. If you want to vote for Someone whose campaign is based on mostly lies, then go right ahead. But we don't need to read your propagandish crap.

Ted, obama has off shore accounts too. Fact check yourself. Not to mention he did not deny it in the last debate. You think Obama won. Not so. I believe it was in the eye of the beholder who won. But Mitt was a gentleman and leader as always. Obama just slammed, looked mean, and didn't offer any solutions which has been obvious these past 4 years. Only 4 for 44!

Just cause you say it, it doesn't make it true. Someone on this board mentioned how will republicans survive if Obama wins again. Well, it would be horrible for our economy and our country, but we are not whining and sniverling cowards like the dems/libs. You have not even enjoyed his terror reign as you have been so preoccupied with why we don't like him, lmao!

Well many families are scared to death that the lying team of RR will win. My 24 yr old son will lose the right to be insured on our plan..with his preexisting conditions, we will have a difficult time finding any insurance. My niece is in the midst of cancer treatments..she lost her job 2 weeks before she was diagnosed. but these are just people, not rich enough to qualify as a friend of RR. Children all over the US will lose their health insurance, college students will lose Pell grants ( after all, they just need to borrow from their parents, eh Mitt) , tornado victims...hope you saved enough to replace your home, and nursing home seniors- when the Ryan cuts Medicaid, which is what pays for this, how are you going to pay for it. seniors with high prescriptions will lose the donut hole obama has been eliminating- what's another 5 grand a yr in rx's eh? and we don't need to have free cancer screenings--no seniors struggle to pay copays sometimes as high as 1000 for a colonoscopy-. Many of you merely spew your hatred for this president, yet some of you will be negatively impacted by romney's agenda only you are so blinded by your hate , you don't even look to see if Romney is lying to you. Hint, if he is talking, he is likely lying. He told 70 million americans in debate 1 that his plan covers preexisting conditions. I find that his most despicable lie, as some people may believe it..then find when they need chemo to save their lives that the ol mittster was lying about that. he knew he was, but said it anyways. Some of you here act as if you may never need a safety net. I hope you don't but life can change in a second with a serious accident or serious illness. Many families are going to be devastated by Mitt romney's plans-- some are even Republican families.

You use hateful speech, typically peppered with unfounded and specious arguments, not to mention juvenile name-calling. Your continual personal attacks are childish and you should likely be banned from the Vine if any moderators are paying attention to you continual posts.

If the only way you can "argue" your points is to use these tactics, all while displaying an apparent lack of knowledge of English, you should realize it really only makes you look silly...the only thing you are successfully doing is irritating everybody, but maybe that is all you intend to do. Romney is the perfect candidate for you; whatever will you do when he loses?

lucky, Mitt will need a MAJOR miracle to make 270 electoral votes come election day. Ohio, Wisconsin, and NV will put Obama to 271 with what RCP says are already a lock for Obama or heavily leaning towards him. Mitt could win ALL the other swing states (which I highly doubt him doing) and still come up with only 267 electoral votes.

Lucky, I am an Independent and I have already voted for President Obama. I must say your uneducated and immature rants are doing more for Obama's campaign than any speech he could make as it shows just how full of hate and negativity the republicans are right now. We need more people like you to excite the democratic base to get out and vote. You are priceless. Keep it up.

Mitt prays every night that his God really installed those memory chips he can control in all the females in the country, because if they don't do what he hopes that memory chip can tell them to do he could lose the race just by women all voting against him, and get crushed when another 20% of the population does too.

Hey Liberals. Obama will tell you anything you want to hear.

Except he hasn't got his story straight on Libya yet. You'll have to wait till after the election.

Oh gee golly miss molly Mitt Romney says that getting rid of teacher's union is going to save the education system and return good paying jobs to the middle class. Mitt Romney must have Romnesia because if it wasn't for unions there would be no middle class, no 40 hour week, no minimum wage, no child labor laws, no public school system which republicans want to get rid of and privatize school education where the poor have crappy schools and the rich get schools that look like palaces. Romney wants to go back to the George W. Bush years back to wallstreet running unfettered again and pushing the US back to the brink. I am sure that Romney will make sure the big banks and his wallstreet buddies get bailed out again. Please American voters don't be fooled by Mitt Romney, vote for President Obama to move this country forward and not back to the days of robber barons who will ship American jobs to China.

I've done quite a bit of research. I didn't find that, but I did find this a couple of Obama's accomplishments:

                        Appointing two Supreme Court Justices

                        Financial industry reform

                        Preventing a 2nd Great Depression

Passed legislation to curb greenhouse gases and improve the environment

                        Nuclear non-proliferation agreement

                        Repairing Our Image Abroad

Reversed George W. Bush’s ban on federal funding to foreign organizations that allow abortions

                        Implemented education reforms

                        Tobacco regulation

                        Repeals DADT

Beginning the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq

Removed restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research

                        US Auto industry rescue plan

Ended media blackout on war casualties; reporting full information

Limits on lobbyist’s access to the White House

Increased infrastructure spending (roads, bridges, power plants) after years of neglect

Ended the previous policy; the US now has a no torture policy and is in compliance with the Geneva Convention standards

Visited more countries and met with more world leaders than any president in his first six months in office

Attractive tax write-offs for those who buy hybrid automobiles

Expanded the SCHIP program to cover health care for 4 million more children

                        Closed offshore tax safe havens

Ended the previous policy of offering tax benefits to corporations who outsource American jobs; the new policy is to promote in-sourcing to bring jobs back

                        Lower drug costs for seniors

Ended the previous practice of forbidding Medicare from negotiating with drug manufacturers for cheaper drugs; the federal government is now realizing hundreds of millions in savings

Improved conditions at Walter Reed Military Hospital and other military hospitals

Ended previous policy of awarding no-bid defense contracts

                        Improving benefits for veterans

Ended previous practice of having White House aides rewrite scientific and environmental rules, regulations, and reports

Making more loans available to small businesses

Limited salaries of senior White House aides; cut to $100,000

Attempting to reform the nation’s healthcare system which is the most expensive in the world yet leaves almost 50 million without health insurance and millions more under insured

                        Killed Osama Bin Laden

He did kill Bin Laden . . . the Navy Seals did. And he had no problem lying to the American people about Benghazi . . . and you can bet your last buck, that if a Republican had pulled the stunt Obama did - they would be screaming for his head. Instead . . . you want to vote a liar back into the White House. Hypocrisy in it's finest hour.
