Biden whips up comedy routine in battleground Ohio

MARION, Ohio -- Vice President Joe Biden assumed the role of jokester-in-chief on Wednesday in Ohio, alternating between a policy lecture and an amateur comedy gig in ridiculing the Republican presidential ticket.

Appearing in Ohio at the end of a three-day trip, Biden's campaign pitch offered comfort and glee for the base and occasional fodder for the opposition.

There was the assurance to a crying baby that Mitt Romney wouldn't win the election. "It's okay. He's not going to get elected," he mock-soothingly announced as a child in the audience wailed. "God, I shouldn't be scaring children like this!"

There was the groaner understandable only to aficionados of Buckeye State geography. Relating that he's traveled from the phonetic "Dayton, Ohio" to "Marion, Ohio," he cracked "I didn't think I was marrying y'all!"

And there was the slip-up quickly picked apart by Republicans familiar with Biden's occasional history of locality-based missteps. Lamenting the political ads he's seen in his travels, he said the commercials were saturating airwaves "here in Iowa." (That prompted a release from Boston offering Team Romney's "Response to Vice President Biden in Iowa ... Uh... Ohio.")

As the closing weeks of the election loom, Biden's speeches have become must-watch fodder for journalists - who often tweet highlights as they watch live video feeds from their offices - and for Biden foes eager to catch one of his famed rhetorical goof-ups.

Biden's rally of over a thousand supporters in a high school gymnasium disappointed neither.

Speaking of Romney and Ryan's tax plans, Biden related a teenage memory of wanting to hang out "on the corner" with troublemaking kids, only to be stopped by his mother's warning.

"She'd look at me and she'd say, 'Joey, if it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, it's a duck!'" he declared.

While wasn't entirely clear how Biden transitioned from effective tax rates to poultry, the crowd loved it.

"Man," he concluded. "This is one quackin' duck!"

Not as good as the comedy of Mitten's and Lyan. Especially the routine they do of "Who's on First".....

And the one where Mitt imitates the President during a debate. That one's really funny...

No one is making anything for anyone harder to vote other than what is already required. I don't know very many states that do not require I. D. for voting. Most people over the age of 21 have drivers's licenses and if they don't, it isn't that hard to get a photo I. D. with proof of birth certificate. The problem is the Liberals want dead people and illegals to be able to vote. Now tell me how is suppressing illegals and dead peoples' votes a problem for you? I know your motto is, vote early and vote often, vote in many states and under many names.

The Obama campaign has finally, the day after the debates, come up with the President's economic plan for the next 4 years. It is no joke. The plan is devoid of detail and budgetary information but is full of wishful thinking. Obamanomics is really impossiblenomics. This is one of the parts that I like the best"

Do some nation-building here at home: We’ll use half the savings from ending the war in Afghanistan to help pay down our debt and invest the rest in fixing our roads, runways, bridges, and schools.
End overseas wars and rebuild our economy. After responsibly ending overseas operations, the President will reinvest in our country by:

  • Committing half of the money saved from responsibly ending overseas operations in Iraq and Afghanistan to reducing the deficit and the other half to investing in public infrastructure.
  • Investing an additional $210 billion over six years to support a million jobs improving America’s roads, bridges, transit systems, railways, aviation systems and runways, and putting construction workers back to work.

Four years ago, without conditions of any kind to include any act of congress, the President promised that the 2012 federal deficit would not exceed 229.27 billion dollars yet in fact it exceeded 1.1 trillion dollars. That says a lot for the President's fiscal planning and sense of budget. For the past 4 years the President has been proposing a tax increase on the "rich" that congress has yet to pass. This increase in taxes would at most divert 100 billion dollars per year from the private sector to the public sector. The federal government has been trying to spark the economy by injecting more money. This move will have the opposite effect and will do little to solve our debt problem. so using 2012 figures the federal government will still have a trillion dollar debt to deal with.

According to the President's nomination acceptance speech, the troops will be coming home in 2014 so by 2015 the peace dividend will be in full effect. According to the President's plan, he is expecting to net more than 2 trillion dollars per year by bringing the troops home. It will take at least 1 trillion dollars to balance the budget and of course that has to be done before we can start running a surplus. Balancing the budget is done with just half of the peace dividend. That is why the peace dividend will have to be greater than 2 trillion dollars per year. So the President is claiming that we are spending more than two trillion dollars per year on the war on Afghanistan which is less than true. If the federal government cut out all defense spending that then cut the rest of the budget in half it would not generate the required savings. The President's plan is fantasy economics. The President's plan is mathematically impossible. It is the President who needs more math education.

This election is only about; 1) Creating American Jobs; in 2) Profitable businesses ,which 3) Generates much needed tax dollars, to 4) Pay for things we NEED & WANT our government to do on our behalf. It only works in that order...PERIOD!

Our capitalistic economic system is built on PROFITS...yes, (gasp) especially for the wealthy...OR the current alternative is 4) the Capitalists simply move away and they will take the jobs and tax money elsewhere! Then we don't have those jobs to buy anything from anyone, PERIOD!

Your responsibility to our national success is to read the labels of products you're buying and, predominately buy "American Made" goods. So, you're saying. "That's too much hassle and work... or, the overseas products are better". Well folks, let me emphasize a realistic scenario that line of thinking has created to the economy in this country.

"John Smith" started the day early awakening to his set alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) at 6 am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). John put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).'

'After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA); he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO); to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA); John got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY);pulled out of the driveway and glanced at his wife's car (MADE IN JAPAN). John noticed his wife's car needed new tires (MADE IN CHINA).'

'John filled his car with gas (IMPORTED FROM SAUDI ARABIA) and continued his search for a "GOOD PAYING AMERICAN JOB.'

'At the end of, yet another, discouraging and fruitless job hunting day, John sat down in front of his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), to check For nonexistent job responses.'

'John decided to unwind and relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA). All this while, John Smith is wondering why he can't find a "GOOD PAYING JOB IN AMERICA."

Does this scenario hit too close to home for you, a family member or close friend? This is what this election is all about folks... 23 Million Americans out of work OR living in poverty because parttime jobs are all they can find; American Companies moving jobs overseas with no end in sight, higher gas prices, rising home foreclosures.

As Americans, we have two choices this November... Four more years, like the last four years... Broken promises, beautiful speeches and a continued declining economy.... OR...

A real chance to pull our economy back from the edge of an economic and financial abyss... This election offers us a candidate who can put the country back to work, because, his records shows he has done that in the past... A candidate with a proven record of reaching across the isle and working with both political parties to reach a compromise that works for the American People. A candidate who won't merely ask, but, demand fair, equal trade agreements; a candidate who will create a positive tax environment for companies to bring jobs back to America...

It's time to stop blaming Bush for Obama's failures.. Obama may have walked into a 9 Trillion Dollar National Debt from Clinton/Bush.. However, the additional 7+ Trillion added to the debt in 3+ years , and another projected 4 Trillon in Debt over the next four years, is ALL OBAMA.. The buck stops with Obama!

So the choices is yours.... What do you want in the next four years...? Obama's "John Smith" Scenario... or, Romney's "5-Point Plan to a balanced and stable America? This election isn't about "Blue or Red".. It's about protecting our nation and future children from our current economic mistakes..

You Choose... Choose Wisely... You can't always undo a stubborn choice and Time Is Running Out.....

In true Arrested Development style, Vice President Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden, has received a cozy deal from Hill International, a firm that builds homes in the Middle East. James was hired as executive VP of the company in 2010. Six months later, Hill won a contract from the federal government worth some $1.5 billion to build homes in Iraq. The Iraqi government is supposed to provide the cash for the deal.

As Charles Gasparino writes in The New York Post, “One friend of James Biden’s estimates his net worth at around $7 million, yet he seems to have a remarkable lack of concrete business experience. An attorney who’s done work for him called him a “serial entrepreneur,” but didn’t name the startups he was responsible for.”

So what’s his value? Gasparino explains: “James Biden’s obvious value comes from his connection to the Obama administration.”

They say that the economy starts with solid families. Joe Biden should know, apparently.

It hasn't really moved toward them. Gallup ran some seriously outlier polls during days 2 and 3 of their last cycle and it's taken most of the week for them to work through and get them out of their 7 day rolling tracking poll.

I figured last week that the +7 lead would regress to the mean. I figure Gallup's tracking poll right now is probably more like a +2 to +3 for Romney and generally because Republicans are a lot more eager to participate in those sorts of things.

The national result is sort of meaningless anyway, but it's one of the few areas where looking at the polling averages is better than looking at the number of polls that favor one candidate over the other.

Obama should have been torn a new one for his lies on Benghazi. Mr. President it was a terrorist attack and you knew it the very next day. You knew the next day who responsible for the attacks, but it didn't fit your campaign agenda. You are responsible for the deaths of four Americans because it was your team who failed to provide adequate security for our people. You didn't even have the decency to stop campaigning for even one day to hold proper security briefings. I want to know who told people to go out and say it was a movie trailer that was responsible for the attack. Was it you Mr. President?

It appears to me he would rather be a stand up comic than president of the United States. I guess he really thinks it is a joke. And you YOYO"s who voted for him and that other clown think they are funny. Well when all your rights have been taken away and your freedoms gone what will you be laughing at then?

A lotm of people get mad at the rich, because they have a lot. Most of these people earned there monsy from the ground up. They had the ambition to be where they are in the world. We all have the freedom to make it in life if that is what we want. The rich give us a place to go to work. If there wasnt any big business where would you be working? The goverment doesnt put you to work. They are slowly taking from you. Sad things most people have there eyes closed because they are wanting something for nothing. And the goverment is using it to there advantage. Wake up smell the roses before its to late......We do not need another four years of two clowns running this country!!!!!!!!!

Do you people not read your commentaries before you post them with their endless spelling, punctuation and grammar errors? It certainly does not support your intelligence argument. Geez!

    Notice:

The president's PLAN doesn't come out until after the debates (wouldnt want to answer any specific questions of course)

The whole comedy thing... really presidential. How abouty making time for a news conference instead of Leno and Stewart. (Oh, I forgot, more tough questions)

Joking all the time, it seems. The joke is that you NOW have a plan after 4 years of doing nothing and blaming everyone.

visit three states a day for weeks on end, most of which have no topography to distinguish one from the other, and see if you can't make make one 4 letter, 3 syllable state sound like another 4 letter, 3 syllable state!

Biden was not trying to be funny, those laughs from the crowd were because Biden is such a joke. Biden was physically in Ohio, but because he has amnesia, he thought he was in Iowa. God help us if B.O. and JBi get 4 more years--we got a current president who is an idiot and a vice president that is a bigger idiot.

Clint Eastwood made a good point with the "Empty Chair" routine. The Whitehouse has been empty for the last four years. Lets do something about it. Change is needed.........,.!

This is how Biden handle America. Laughs at it. Laughed at Libiya embassy when they cried for help. Laughes at American people while he gets rich. He laughs, laughs, laughs with such a serious job. Let laugh at your spending, unemployment and the people in chains.

yeah, but he is smart, and the least political politician in the world; that's why he's so fun to watch. Meanwhile, the more of Ryan I see, the more he scares me...I used to only be scared of his knee jerk Teaparty attitudes, but the more he talks, the stupider he seems.
