Subscribe to RSSHENDERSON, NV-- Mitt Romney fired up supporters here today, telling them the presidential debates have "supercharged" his campaign and arguing that President Obama's strategy of attacking Romney rather than outlining a second term agenda is backfiring.
"My guess is you have the chance to watch that debate last night, maybe a couple of debates," Romney said, in his first public appearance since Monday's third and final presidential debate. "And these debates have supercharged our campaign, there's no question about it. We're seeing more and more enthusiasm, more and more support."

As both campaigns jockeyed today to claim victory in the final debate, Romney and running mate Paul Ryan both told a crowd of some 6,000 supporters at their first of two joint rallies of the day that momentum was on their side.
"I had to look at the president's campaign as well, through the eyes of those debates and well you know he's ah, he's been reduced to try to defend characters on Sesame Street and ah, word games of various kinds, and then misfired attacks after one another," Romney said. "You know the truth is that attacks on me are not an agenda."
"What we saw last night was Mitt Romney being concerned about America’s position in the world and President Obama more concerned about his position in this race,” Ryan said.
Earlier Tuesday, the Obama campaign pushed back on claims that the president lacks a second-term agenda, publishing a 20-page pamphlet that Obama himself brandished at a campaign event in Florida this morning. Romney campaign senior adviser Kevin Madden dismissed the pamphlet as a "glossy panic button," and Romney too brushed off Obama's plans as more of the same.
Senior campaign adviser David Axelrod talks about the release of a 20-page pamphlet by the Obama campaign detailing the president's vision for the next four years. Axelrod also comments on Monday's final debate saying when you prepare for Mitt Romney you have to be "agile" because you don't know which candidate will show up.
"His is a status-quo candidacy. His is a message of going forward with the same policies of the last four years. And that’s why his campaign is slipping and ours is gaining so much steam," Romney said.
With just 14 days to go before Election Day, the VP nominee helped fire up the base as well in the rally outside of Las Vegas.
“And in 2 weeks from today, he is going to become former President Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney is going to be the next president of the United States,” Ryan said.

The Obama campaign fired back after the rally, calling Romney "dour, defensive and dishonest," and insisting it was Romney who stumbled in last night's debate, and who "failed to present any specific plans for what he'd do as president."
The GOP ticket’s appearance in the Silver State comes on the same day NBC News updated it’s battleground map, using a combination of poll data and reporting from both campaigns to move Nevada into the “lean Dem” category. Despite its significant Mormon population and economic struggles, Romney advisers concede that Colorado is a more likely pickup than Nevada among the Western battlegrounds.
That leaves just 89 electoral votes in the “toss up” category. The seven remaining Toss-up states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Romney and Ryan head to Colorado next, holing an evening rally with Kid Rock and country singer Rodney Atkins, as well New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, making only her second appearance on the trail with the Republican candidate.

Last night, Romney lied continuously & reversed 2 years of his own foreign policy - in order to align himself with the President's successes.
Romney is the MOST FALSE, and least transparent presidential candidate on record. He even bought voting machines while running for office.
Romney made his fortune by gross means - killing companies, laying folks off and shipping their jobs overseas. Sensata just moved the last of their stuff to China.
He was caught on tape trashing 47% of the nation.
Meanwhile Romney spent hundreds of millions in federal dollars via Bain, the Olympics -- creating the need for folks to use government help to keep them alive after he took their jobs, healthcare, homes, children's college fund, and communities.
R-money agreed with Obama's foreign policies all night at the debate.
So much so that I think that Mitt is going to vote for Obama.

At one point earlier in the election season, I thought the arguments between the conservatives and the liberals were going to get real nasty... What I notice is the liberals are still living in a false dream of having their hero take another 4 years. Something happened on the way to the Met though... The liberals never counted on Romney actually standing for something... like the economy. Obama doesn't know how to control it... hasn't had an approved budget, ever and has $5 Trillion added to the national debt.

Barack Obama gave a speech today in Dayton, Ohio and showed his true colors once again.
He stood in front of that crowd and spoke of Mitt Romney with such contempt and arrogance it amazed me.
I can only hope that the great American citizens of Ohio can see through Barack Obama and vote him out on November 6th.
We do not need or want this Liar in Chief to lead our great nation.

I have confidence that Ohio will send this poor excuse for a president packing. I look around the state of Ohio and the atmosphere is NOTHING like it was in 2008.
No Obama banners hanging from buildings, no Obama signs filling yards as far as they eye can see, no Hope and Change signs either.
What I do see is Romney support EVERYWHERE! Banners, signs, posters, and excited voters!

You know, people are joking and making cracks and insults here, but I am getting a little concerned.
The President clearly won the debate on foreign policy, but what makes me nervous about Romney is the way he has changed his positions so many times during the campaign.
Every time I hear him speak, he is playing with words, claiming he didn't say this or that and then changing some little word or adding a phrase to make his new stance sound plausible.
This is the first time in my life (and I am not young anymore) that I have ever witnessed a presidential candidate change his policies on a day to day basis according to who or what group he is addressing.
If he changes his mind so much before, during, and after each debate, how would we know what he would do if he were President? He talked a steady war-like stance before the debate. Now he says all he wants is World Peace.

While some evangelical Christians are defending
the presidential candidacy of Mormon Mitt Romney from an attack by Al Sharpton,
another prominent pastor is going further in his condemnation – saying a vote
for the former Massachusetts governor is a vote for Satan.
That's the word from Bill Keller, host of the
Florida-based Live Prayer TV program as well as LivePrayer.com.
"If you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting
for Satan!" he writes in his daily devotional.
Keller also comes out swinging against the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a cult.
"This message today is not about Mitt Romney,"
he writes. "Romney is an unashamed and proud member of the Mormon cult founded
by a murdering polygamist pedophile named Joseph Smith nearly 200 years ago. The
teachings of the Mormon cult are doctrinally and theologically in complete
opposition to the Absolute Truth of God's Word. There is no common ground. If
Mormonism is true, then the Christian faith is a complete lie. There has never
been any question from the moment Smith's cult began that it was a work of Satan
and those who follow their false teachings will die and spend eternity in hell."
Keller is also critical of other evangelicals
who have reached out to Romney.
"I have watched in horror over the past weeks
as one evangelical Christian leader after another has either endorsed,
supported, or just as bad, refused to denounce Romney's run for the White House
and those Christian leaders who support him," Keller writes. "Last weekend Pat
Robertson, founder of CBN and Regent University, had Romney deliver the keynote
address to the graduates of Regent. Regent is one of the great Christian
colleges in this nation, and Robertson allowed this cult member to deliver the
commencement address. Is he out of his mind? Do you think there would ever be a
true Gospel preacher giving the commencement address at Brigham Young?"
Keller warned about Mormonism:
"I have been warning you for years now about
this cult born out of the pits of hell and responsible for sending millions of
souls to eternal damnation," Keller says. "For the nearly 200 years this cult
has been in existence they have strived for mainstream acceptance. They are the
most devious of all the cults since they have always tried to portray themselves
as 'just another Christian group' when in fact, they are no more Christian than
a Muslim is! Their deception starts with their name, the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints. Sounds like a Christian church doesn't it? Some Mormons
have recently changed their name to simply Community of Christ to disguise even
better who they are in an attempt to lure people in."
Keller says that when LDS members talk of God
and Jesus they are not talking about the God and Jesus of Christianity. He
claims Romney's high-profile candidacy for the presidency is an important effort
by the church to gain credibility and respectability.
He says if Romney wins the White House,
millions of people will be attracted to Mormonism.
"Those who follow the false teachings of this
cult, believe in the false jesus of the Mormon cult and reject faith in the one
true Jesus of the Bible, will die and spend eternity in hell," Keller charges.
"Romney getting elected president will ultimately lead millions of souls to the
eternal flames of hell!"
Keller also criticizes Romney for political
flip-flops on issues like abortion, citing a recent report that his wife donated
money to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the world.
There is no excuse, no justification for
supporting and voting for a man who will be used by satan to lead the souls of
millions into the eternal flames of hell!"

I don't really care for Al Sharpton or his cryptic messages and I don't believe in all that "vote for Romney (or Obama) and you will go to hell" baloney.
But, my faith is important to me. More important than politics even. I am a professed Christian and have not been ashamed to admit it in this forum or anywhere. Even if folks don't agree with me, that's okay. I will engage them in conversation about it if they like, if not, I will not go there.
I will say that I have been disappointed to see an elderly and ill Billy Graham propped up in a chair for a thirty minute photo-op by his son, Franklin, who is using his father's good name to promote Franklin's own selfish agenda. And to have the language that calls Mormonism a cult removed from the Billy Graham website when Franklin (under the guise of his father) promoted Romney is a complete admission to manipulaton of Billy's life-long ideals and beliefs.
I have been disappointed to hear Mitt Romney spouting off about Jesus, etc., playing on the minds of innocent and deceived Christians who for decades were declaring Mormonism an anti-Christian cult.
It is ironic that these same people try to paint President Obama who has said he is a Christian as an evil muslim. They ought to google the hushed up story of when President-elect Obama visited the wailing wall in Jerusalem and quietly placed his hand-written prayer in the wall. Someone stole the President's note (considered a blasphemous act by the Jewish people) and then distributed copies. Instead of a letter written on official stationery and announced to the public beforehand like many state officials do, the President had written a simple note asking God to "protect him and his family" and "to save him from pride and despair."
I am glad our President is not a person who barks his faith into every available mike to solicit votes.

Is Romney nuancing positions, you bet. Everypolitician does. The fact checking on the debate last night was devastating for Obama. What all of us have been being fed is the half truths 24/7. Anyone can fall for a half-truth at anytime.
What the average American saw was that the legends of Romney they had been reading and hearing, did not match the man they saw in the last 3 debates.
Rob Portman was asked who came up with the strategy for the debate. According to Portman, the strategy for the debates were all Romney's.
The strategy became clear the second time Romney refused to be baited by Obama to venture into areas Obama could use on Romney. Many conservatives wanted Romney to be aggressive, but that is the wrong thing to do on someone who is pretty sly at laying traps. Obama's hand was forced to be more aggressive to draw Romney into a mistake. Romney had none of it and that is what is the undoing of Obama.

On the day before an election that's supposed to hinge on jobs, taxes and the middle class, Bain Capital, the company Mitt Romney founded, will close the doors of a factory in Freeport, Illinois, and ship 170 good, high-tech jobs to China.
The employees of Sensata Technologies were forced to train their Chinese replacements, and the American flag that long flew over the factory was reportedly removed while the Chinese engineers were visiting the site. A group of workers have set up camp across from the factory -- calling it “Bainport” -- and some supporters have tried to block the trucks hauling equipment out of the plant. According to Dave Johnson, there have been several arrests.
Sensata workers have asked to meet with Mitt Romney and hoped to enlist his help keeping their jobs in the United States, but he has refused, instead remaining on the campaign trail where he speaks often about “getting tough” with China.
The most important part of the story is that Sensata Technologies is profitable operating in Illinois. Net income last year was $355 million, up 16 percent from 2010. The company reported total revenues of $1.8 billion in 2011, up almost 19 percent from the year before. According to a company financial statement, “both 2011 net revenue and adjusted net income represent record levels for the company.”
So this has nothing to do with “making hard choices” in the process of turning around a failing business, which is how the Romney campaign describes Bain's corporate raiding. Bain's partners are looking for a modest boost in profits by locating the plant closer to the booming Asian automotive market (Sensata makes high-tech automotive parts). They'll get a small tax break for relocating the plant – the one Mitt Romney insisted did not exist during the first debate – and possibly defer taxes on some of the income the company generates.
Of course Romney got a surge from the debates, they were the first time Obama has had to face his record in four years. You have Romney laying out a vision, and Obama laying an egg. Obama has no details for a second term, and it had become enough of an issue he put together a glossy brochure rehashing everything he promised or has done that failed, and called it his plan again. For the first time no one is asking Obama what is his favorite color, or what super powers he would most like to have.
The mainstream media and liberals have given Obama a pass for four years never holding him accountable, and allowing him to use blame and excuses that are no longer selling. This election is all about turnout, if disgruntled Obama supporters stay home he loses as he should. Obama has failed and four more years of failure is not what the nation can afford. The truth is simple, if Obama was a Republican he would be done. But liberals don't care about the job he has failed to do, just that he is a liberal. Party over country is what liberals are all about.

Perhaps you missed the news from 10 years ago - Romney no longer has any control in Bain Capital. As for 'investments in China', Obama also has investments in companies that relocated to China.

Pretty much. Both guys still hugging the MOE (3-4%) and having trouble cracking 50%. That said, anyone who denies that the trend has been towards the challenger the past couple weeks is kidding themselves.
Polls will always tighten as the days grow short, but the national polls don't mean much compared to the state races and how the down ticket candidates are doing. It's Ohio (isn't it always?) and a handful of other states that will be keeping everyone up late on election night. That said, a 500 point drop in the stock market, a scandal, or some other "black swan" could turn conventional wisdom on its ear. The least credible sources right now are those that are certain that they know what will happen.
If I was a Romney supporter right now I would probably be feeling like things are going my way.
If I was an Obama supporter right now I would be a little less sanguine than I was before the debates, but I wouldn't be panicking either.

Not exactly true. I know several republicans, who plan just to stay home on November 6th. They just don't like or trust Mitt Romney. In Romney's swing back to being moderate, to appeal to the independent voters, he may have pushed some of the conservatives in the GOP away.
Turnout is everything in this election and the Romney base is energized and coordinated. The Romney ground game is in full swing and that is where this election is going to be won or lost in the final days. Obama supporters are disgruntled, as he failed to live up to promises and his first term was nothing but blame and excuses. Now Obama is making the same promises all over again, in the midst of a failing economy and a middle east in crisis. If Obama cannot energize those disgruntled voters to support his failed policies, he is absolutely one and done, and that fact may already be inevitable.
When the GOP picked Mitt as their nominee, the GOP basically already gave up on their chance of taking over the White House - I said this long time ago when Mitt became the nominee.

I've looked long and hard on this issue. Per nearly all the EC sites, Florida and Virginia are Romney's to stay. Colorado, and New Hampshire are in only listed as Obama's or toss-up because of one very far outlier poll each. In a few days a few more polls are going to hit that will erase them again.
Let me put it like the one analysis put the situation. Romney doesn't have to have Ohio. It would be better said that Obama cannot win without Ohio. That is how much the situation has changed and living in denial isn't going to work.

President Obama was brilliant at the debate, and Romney, well Romney, looked like some casting agent's idea of a President, but he sounded as uninformed as a guy who has spent the last decade attending rightwing dinners and ordering floormats for his car elevator.
I'm glad that Romney didn't fall for Obama's little trick of spewing bogus accusations. It takes 5 seconds to make a false accusation and 30 seconds to refute it. Romney anticipated Obama's tactic and handled it skillfully and gracefully. Romney is clearly the superior intellect and will be a far better President.
Does anyone on the left want to respond about the lie Obama stated concerning the sequestration agreement? I believe I heard Obama utter two lies, first that sequestration was not his idea and that it would not be enacted.
Bob Woodward, today, said Obama lied, the idea of sequestration came from Jack Lew and was passed to Reid who then got the Republicans to go along. Further, Obama signed the sequestration into law, and in the absence of another agree it must be enacted.
Why is it the left never can defend Obama's lies. Since none replied I guess they agree with me that Obama lied big time, got caught but if they don't acknowledge it maybe it will go away.
If sequestration happens it will be because of the Republicans and their fillabustering and their failure to get anything done. Their vow to make Obama a one term President has caused them to create gridlock and the lowest approval rating of any Congress in history. They won't pass jobs bills but sure have no problem renaming post offices.

In a new TV ad, President Obama makes an inflated claim to have added 5.2 million new jobs. The total added during his time in office is actually about 325,000.
In the ad, the president says “over 5 million new jobs” while the figure “5.2 million” appears on screen. But that’s a doubly misleading figure.
According to the most recent employment figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy has eked out a net gain of 325,000 jobs since January 2009, when Obama took office. lisa - the earnings report has had an effect on the stock market but it is still up substantially over 4 years ago and things are looking up in several areas. Housing is up - and that's a BIG part of the economy. Home sales and values are up - plus new home starts are up. All of those are very good indicators the economy is coming back.
