Tight as a tick on a deer in the woods, a dog in the bushes? Pick your simile. Whatever it is, the new NBC/WSJ poll shows a tied race. … Three reasons in the poll for why each candidate could win. … Which message wins the day – macro (Romney/economy, jobs taxes) or micro (Obama’s soft sell – compassion, character) … It’s also all about demographics – white men vs. Latinos. … Previewing tonight’s debate and why it’s tricky for Romney. … And how they’ll go after each other tonight. … 15 days to go!
Will the important slice of undecided voters – still not persuaded they have a reason to rehire the president – use Monday's final debate to help make up their minds? The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd reports.
BOCA RATON, FL -- Cue The ‘Tight As A Drum/Tick’ Cliches: Our latest national NBC/WSJ poll shows a 47%-47% tie among likely voters. Not all ties are created equal and the question is whether this tie signals a shift away from President Obama and toward Mitt Romney. The poll actually sends a lot of mixed messages on this front. The toplines, though, are not good for the president. The fact of the matter is 47% is a VERY precarious position for an incumbent. If this were 48-48 or 49-49, this would be a different conversation. A good ground game can make up 1 or 2 points; making up 3 points is a much taller order. To put it another way: if this race is at 47%-47% the Sunday before the election, there’s going to be a run on Tums at every pharmacy in walking distance of the Obama campaign’s Chicago headquarters. But it’s not the Sunday before Election Day. And if you digest the entire poll, this race isn’t nearly as easy to handicap as it might look on paper. It’s that close, folks, and we can point to three reasons why President Obama will win on Nov. 6 and three reasons why Mitt Romney will win.
*** Three reasons why Obama will win: (1) Room to grow: While he’s tied among likely voters, he leads by five points among registered voters, 49%-44%, which suggests a strong turnout can push him across the finish line. Indeed, Obama enjoys a HUGE lead among Latinos, and if they turn out in decent numbers that could help him -- especially in states like Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and Virginia. (2) More economic optimism: Per the poll, 45% think the economy will improve in the next 12 months (that’s 18 points higher than it was in July), and only 9% believe it will get worse (the lowest percentage we’ve seen in the survey. EVER!). And (3) Obama’s just more likable than Romney: Obama’s fav/unfav is 49%-43% vs. Romney’s 43%-44%. But while those numbers for Romney are actually an improvement, he’s still trailing Obama badly on other personal connectivity traits. For instance, Obama leads Romney by a whopping 32 points (57%-25%) on who is more easygoing and likable. Obama also has HUGE leads on Romney on understanding “average people” and “looking out for the middle class.”
*** Three reasons why Romney will win: (1) Voters are becoming more and more comfortable with a Romney presidency: According to the poll, a combined 47% say they are either “optimistic and confident” or “satisfied and hopeful” about a Romney presidency -- up five points from our NBC/WSJ poll right before the debates. (That’s compared with Obama being at 50% on this question.) (2) Romney leads Obama when it comes to the economy: Despite that economic optimism mentioned above, Romney leads narrowly on the economy. And (3) Doubts about a second Obama term: 62% say the president should make major changes in a second term; just 4% said they want the second term to be like the first term. Again: 62% wants MAJOR CHANGES; 4% want status quo. Ouch. That’s a flashing red light, though it’s not far removed from the 55% who said the same about George W. Bush in 2004, who grinded out a victory. So when you look these six different points – three in favor for Obama, three in favor for Romney – you see why either the country will either “reluctantly” re-hire Obama or “reluctantly” fire him. This isn’t an easy decision for these last few undecided voters, either the ones truly undecided about the two candidates or the folks in the Obama coalition undecided about whether it’s worth voting.
*** Macro-messaging vs. Micro-messaging: Here’s another thing the election could hinge on: Whose messaging was better – Romney’s macro-message on the economy or Obama’s micro-message on everything else? As alluded to above, Romney holds a six-point lead over Obama (46%-40%) on which candidate would better deal with the economy. He also has the advantage on jobs and unemployment (46%-39%) and the federal budget deficit (48%-35%). And by a four-point margin (45%-41%), voters think Romney is better prepared to create jobs and improve the economy over the next four years. But Obama leads on almost all other issue and character-trait questions -- being easy going and likable, dealing with issue of concern to women (53%-25%), being compassionate enough to understand average people (53%-29%), looking out for the middle class (52%-36%) and dealing with Medicare (46%-37%) "Romney is dominating the macro-messaging of the economy," says NBC/WSJ co-pollster Peter Hart (D). "And Obama is dominating the micro-messaging" on things like women's issues, compassion and likeability.
Ahead of Monday's final presidential debate, a new NBC-WSJ poll shows President Obama and Governor Romney are tied 47% to 47% among likely voters. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
*** White men vs. Latinos: And what demographic group becomes more important in this election -- white men or Latinos? Per the poll, Romney leads Obama by a whopping 60%-34% among white men. According to Hart, white men represent 35% of all voters (or more) in all regions across the country, and that’s quite a deficit for Obama to make up. On the other hand, Obama is winning seven-in-10 Latinos, and that’s a big deficit for Romney, too. “The presidency right now is hinging on Latino turnout and margins,” says NBC/WSJ co-pollster Bill McInturff (R). Does Obama win them by 70%? Do they make up more than the 9% of the electorate they were in 2008? Or less? The answer could determine the election. This Latino gulf makes us think we might want to re-orient ourselves in focusing on Florida and Colorado as more decisive than say, Ohio and Virginia? Just a thought, folks. For more on Latinos, refresh your browser at noon ET on First Read for full NBC/WSJ/Telemundo oversample results.
*** Maybe the most striking set of numbers in the NBC/WSJ poll were these: 55% say who wins the upcoming presidential election will make a great deal of difference to their lives. That’s higher than in any other presidential election (2004, 1996, 1992) the poll has surveyed. And among these voters who say the election will mean a great deal of difference to them, 48% are backing Obama and 48% are supporting Romney -- once again, a tie. The country couldn’t be more split. We also see it in the question about which outcome they’d prefer -- an Obama presidency and a Democratic Congress, a Romney president and a GOP Congress, or some sort of split. Less than 10% wanted some sort of split control. Look for a LOT of straight-ticket voting. This could mean the battleground state Senate races, including Florida, Ohio and Nevada, will be MUCH closer than some believe.
*** The Battle in Boca: Tonight's presidential debate -- the final one of this race -- presents opportunities for both Obama and Romney, according to our NBC/WSJ poll. Given that the subject matter is on foreign policy, this should be an advantage for Obama. But he finds himself leading Romney by just three points on who would be a better commander-in-chief (44%-41%), down from his eight-point edge before the debate season began. (That said, Obama does lead Romney by eight points when it comes to strictly to foreign policy.) So a clear win for Obama offers the chance to see his numbers here go back up. For Romney, especially after he mishandled the exchange over Libya in the previous debate, tonight's showdown gives him the opportunity to maintain this near parity on being a commander-in-chief. As NBC/WSJ co-pollster Hart (D) puts it, a tie on this subject matter goes to the challenger. So that's the way to score tonight: Obama is looking for a clear win, and Romney is looking for a tie.
*** For Romney, the big threshold question -- ‘Can this guy be commander-in-chief’: This is a trickier debate for Romney than perhaps his campaign realizes (though they seem to be pretty aware of the challenge in this Politico piece). He has an easy game plan: hug many of Obama’s policies without embracing them completely. He has to try and send the message he won’t make much change without getting caught in the “Bush traps” on foreign policy. The country didn’t like Bush’s foreign policy; it’s why Democrats won control of Congress in 2006 and why Democrats trounced the GOP on all levels in 2008. But a lot of Romney’s advisers are veterans of the Bush years. How much can Romney separate himself? The president has big advantages in this debate if he doesn’t end up on the defensive too much on Libya. As commander-in-chief, he has the unique advantage of being able to say “I meet the families” of the fallen, like he did in Debate 2 very effectively. But for the president to “win” this confrontation tonight, he has to avoid Romney hugging him too much. The bottom line: if this debate is a draw, it may be a “win” for Romney because many viewers will watch with a simple question in mind: Can this guy be commander-in-chief? And for the war weary, they’ll want to know just what criteria will be used to get the U.S. involved in military conflicts. If Obama isn’t able to make sure there are clear differences in how each would conduct foreign policy, then it’s a missed opportunity
*** How the two sides will go after each other tonight -- Obama on Afghanistan, Iraq…: The Obama campaign is out with an ad hitting Romney on foreign policy and a blistering memo penned by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA). The ad focuses on Iraq and Afghanistan. Here’s the script: “A decade of war that cost us dearly. And now for president – a clear choice. President Obama ended the Iraq war. Mitt Romney Romney would have left 30,000 troops there and called bringing them home ‘tragic’. Obama’s brought 30,000 soldiers back from Afghanistan and has a responsible plan to end the war. Romney calls it Obama’s ‘biggest mistake.’ It’s time to stop fighting over there and start rebuilding here.” Kerry’s memo is hotly critical. Romney, he writes, “offers nothing but endless bluster and a record of dangerous blunders, failing at every turn to show he’s up to the challenge. In fact, Governor Romney has outlined fewer specific policies for how he would lead on national security issues than any presidential candidate in my memory.” He calls him an “extreme and expedient candidate who lacks the judgment and vision so vital for the Oval Office….” And he outlines six questions for Romney to answer on Al Qaeda, Afghanistan, Iran, working with other countries, China, and Libya.
*** …Romney focus on Iran: Meanwhile, the Romney campaign is out with a press release of it own called, “We can’t afford four more years of Obama’s foreign policy.” It cites the president’s handling of Iran, his policy toward Russia and China, as well as veterans’ care. Signaling its hit tonight, it clips this September Reuters piece: “Obama's early overtures to Iran were rejected, and the expansion of Tehran's nuclear program, which it says is purely peaceful, has created tension between Washington and Israel.” Romney foreign policy adviser Dan Senor, asked on TODAY about the New York Times story that the White House could sit down for bilateral talks (which the White House officially denies), he said Romney wouldn’t rule out negotiations. Romney’s “not going to rule anything out,” Senor said. But Romney believes “he’d be the better guy at the negotiating table.”
*** NBC’s Brian Williams goes behind the scenes of the Obama campaign: After the debate, NBC’s Brian Williams will follow President Obama on the campaign trail behind the scenes and interview the president on issues ranging from the economy to foreign policy and gridlock in Washington. Excerpts of the footage and interviews will air Wednesday and Thursday on Nightly News, Today, and Rock Center.
*** On the trail: The candidates are down ahead of tonight’s debate at Lynne University in Boca Raton, FL. It is scheduled to go from 9:00 pm ET to 10:30 pm ET. The candidates will be seated, and the debate will be moderated by CBS’s Bob Schieffer. The vice-presidential candidates are on the trail – Joe Biden campaigns in Canton, OH (the home of the pro-football Hall of Fame) at 11:30 am ET, then Lorain, OH, at 3:15 pm ET … Paul Ryan campaigns in Colorado – at 1:00 pm ET in Pueblo West, 4:35 pm ET in Durango, 8:00 pm ET in Grand Junction. … First Lady Michelle Obama campaigns at Broward College in Davie, FL, at 3:00 pm ET … Jill Biden campaigns in Madison, WI, at 9:10 am ET, Appleton, WI, at 11:30 am ET. Also on the trail for Romney – Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) at noon ET in Hialeh, FL … And Texas Gov. Rick Perry makes four stops in Nevada at 11:15 am ET (Fernley), 1:00 pm ET (Fallon), 3:00 pm ET (Yerington), 5:30 pm ET (Carson City).

THE ROMNEY FAMILY & BAIN:
HAVE CONTROLLING OWNERSHIP OF VOTING MACHINES IN OHIO, AND OTHER KEY STATES.
Mitt Romney, Ann Romney, son Tagg, and Romney's brother George, are major investors in H.I.G. Capital.
H.I.G. Capital holds a majority share of the voting machine company Hart Intercivic - whose machines will COUNT the OHIO ballots this election.
These voting machines cannot be monitored by the public.
While the media touts Ohio & Cincinatti as ground zero in this election, we're NOT hearing the truth - that the Romneys own these key voting machines.
It has happened before.
On election night 2004, between 12:20 and 2 am: There was a "statistically impossible" 6% swing to G.W. Bush of 300,000 votes, giving him a second term of office. Instead of a recount solution, election records were destroyed in 56 of 88 Ohio counties, in defiance of a federal injunction.
I.T. security expert Stephen Spoonamore, concluded that "a man in the middle" computer design was used to pull off the vote switch. This design allowed a third party to alter the data illegally, by intercepting computer transmissions.
In 2004, the secretary of state and governor of Ohio were Republicans, as today in nine key swing states. Not hard to figure out that GOP might be pulling these same corrupt, illegitimate tactics again on the American people.
Zero-ing in on Ohio: If as the media says, the Ohio vote tally in particular decides the outcome of this election, do you
think it is ethical or in any way acceptable: For candidate Romney's family members/business buddies/cronies to own, program and tabulate the Ohio voter machines?
This should be publicly discussed and investigated. NOW.
Is it any wonder the RWNJ's are so giddy?
Ohio voters, pay very close attention, vote by paper ballot and then take a picture of it with your cell phone!
These cheating bastards are up to their dirty tricks again!
Brought to you my Dewey. Screwem & Howe!
Eric Holder needs to get involved NOW!
Romnesia—the inability to discern the difference between fantasy and reality
Signs and Symptoms:
Memory loss—"I'm not familiar with what I said, but I'll stand by what I said, whatever it was."
Delusions of grandeur—"As President I will create 12 million new jobs." 10/16/12
Out of touch with reality—"I should tell people my story. I'm also unemployed."
Poor social skills—"I'm not sure about these cookies. They don't look like you made them. No, no. They came from the local 7/11 bakery or whatever." 4/17/12
Insensitive to others—"I like being able to fire people who provide services to me." and "I'm not concerned about the very poor." January 2012
No moral convictions—"I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose." Later, "I am pro-life."
Inconsistent thinking—"Let Detroit go bankrupt. You can kiss the American auto industry good-bye". Then, "I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that the auto industry has come back."
Speaks in gibberish—"I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that's the American millions of Americans believe in." January 2012
Irrational thinking—"When you have a fire in an aircraft, there is no place to go. And you can't find any oxygen outside the aircraft because the windows don't open." 9/22/12
An elitist—"I have some friends who are NASCAR owners." And "My wife drives a couple of Cadillacs."
Forgets his real name—"I'm Mitt Romney and yes Wolf [Blitzer] that's also my first name".
Beware that this condition is contagious and has been contracted by his running mate, Paul Ryan.
Romnesia is untreatable. There is no cure. Willard Mitt Romney will act this way for the rest of his life.
This man is not qualified to be the next President of the United States and certainly not the Commander-in-Chief.

The President will come to the table tonight with a reasoned foreign policy agenda and he will argue with facts. He understands the bigger picture.
Mitt Romney will come to the table tonight wanting to debate with FOX “News” talking points as facts. If he finds that won’t fly, he beat a war drum or two. In other words, he’s got NOTHING.
Geeeez, Backhouse, you must go through a lot of Tin Foil....
Ahhh look, Feisty has just stocked up on Tin Foil herself.
How about you Bev? You got plenty of tin foil?
Bear in mind, no Republican has ever won the Presidency without winning Ohio:
1) Ohio's electronic vote count will be managed & controlled on election night, by GOP Secretary of State John HUSTED and GOP Governor John KASICH.
Both are Republicans, as in the 2004 Kerry-to-Bush vote switch.
2) Husted is currently suing the U.S. Supreme Court. He wants to stop citizens from voting on the weekend prior to election day.
3) As in the 2004 election, the citizens of America will have no access to public scrutiny/legal recourse to the Ohio voting results, as they will be controlled by Husted and Kasich.
Binders
There's a few openings in my office that we'll be filling with new hires soon. The resumes of the leading candidates have been put into binders and distributed to staff. I took one with me to lunch yesterday so I could flip through it. As I was walking back to the office, a policeman stopped me.
"What's that you're carrying," he asks.
"It's a binder," says I.
"You're taking a real chance carrying something like that on the street."
"Why is that?"
"You must be kidding. There's a ton of hidden meanings in that binder that many folks might find offensive. A word to the wise, keep that thing under wraps. Otherwise, I can't guarantee your safety."
"Good grief," I said, "it's just a freaking binder. And it's only meaning is to hold a bunch of resumes."
The cop gives me an incredulous stare. "Let me ask you this, are there any women's resumes in that thing?"
"Well sure."
"OMG, you have no idea how much trouble you're in. A fellow like you flipping through women's resumes in a binder is a subliminal metaphor for a horny sheik leering at his harem. And the ladies in this part of town will be highly offended by that."
My jaw dropped. "Let me get this straight. What you're telling me is the compilation of professional qualifications organized in this binder will be offensive to the very women who might ultimately be hired because their qualifications caught my eye as I was flipping through their resumes?"
"You just don't get it mister, the function of the binder is irrelevant. What's relevant is the appearance of insensitivity to women's equality issues projected by a dominant male subordinating women by the act of flipping through a binder full their resumes."
"But, how can my office achieve a goal like gender balance unless we evaluate the qualifications of the women's resumes in this binder?"
"For gosh sakes, if your office was really serious about issues like that you people would already know a ton of women who had the qualifications to join your team – and you wouldn't need no stinking binder full of their resumes."
"But the skill sets my office requires are highly specialized. And the only way we even have a chance of bringing in good women is to get a binder full of their resumes to flip through."
"Look pal, the reality you just described doesn't matter. Reality is just a suggestion that's available to be manipulated into a perception. And the folks who do that manipulating don't give a damn about your problems, in fact they're glad you have them. I gotta get back to my post now. So remember what I said and be safe."
After the cop left, I managed to make it back to the office in one piece. First thing, I went to my boss and asked to be removed from the interview team. When she asked me why, I said it was hard to explain. So I just returned the binder and went about my business.
But at least I learned a big lesson from this whole sordid affair. Next time I need to look at resumes, I'm sure as hell not going to put them in a binder. I'll load them into my iPad instead, there's no silly hidden meanings attached to those things.
At least not yet.
Good to be on the same page this morning Backhouse!
Why isn't this being investigated by the MSM?
Every American has the right to know!
FOX Noise admit the video had something to do with Benghazi
Fox’s Geraldo Rivera went against that narrative on Friday. After Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy once again mocked the notion that the video was an impetus for the attack, Rivera instead presented the idea that it was in fact both a reaction to the video and a terrorist attack. The hosts quickly attempted to pull Rivera back on-message after he completed explaining his theory, but couldn’t persuade him to drop it completely.
Fox reporter Peter Doocy later also reported that the attack may have been “tied to that anti-Islamic video”, a short film, purported to be part of a full length movie known as “The Innocence of Muslims,” and its derogatory portrayal of the Prophet Mohammed. Watch both statements here:

Feisty, if it was "tin foil" - you and I would not be independently reporting it.
"Both The Nation and New York Times confirm the connection between the Romney family, Solamere and the Bain Capital investment in the voting machine company, Hart Intercivic, whose board of directors serve H.I.G. Capital."

The foreign policy debate ought to be interesting and informative. Romney, who does not take defeat well, will be even more belligerent as he tries to look Presidential. What he actually looks like is an out of control middle schooler.
The question becomes: Will President Obama elicit Romney's desire to go to war with Iran? Romney does like those neato keen war toys, as long as he doesn't have to be on the front lines.
Americans will reject Romney's view of himself as the warrior King.
They had better, or they are going to find their sons and daughters in Iran.
Romney's kids? Nope. They are part of what Romney sees as the ruling class. His pretentious pups, and those of his buddies can't be spared. Too busy raping America's treasury.
The only known cure for "romnesia" is voting for President Obama!
Save yourself, your family, your country!

Via Solamere equity fund, Romney, his wife, son and brother are major investors in H.I.G. Capital.
In July of 2011, H.I.G. took over the majority share of the e-voting machine company Hart Intercivic.
Mitt Romney got the fund started with $10 million in seed money, and spoke to the first investors.
Solamere was founded by Tagg Romney, and Spencer Zwick - Romney's campaign finance chair.
Solamere is also partnered by Marc J. Leder, fund-raiser and host of Romney's "47%" speech.
More About HIG:
Capital directors John P. Bolduk and Douglas Berman are major Romney fundraisers, as is former Bain and H.I.G. manager Brian Shortsleeve.
One third of H.I.G.'s current leadership, were Bain Capital employees when Romney was CEO.
Excellent thoughts Ron!

Sorry, Backhouse you and the the rest of the LibsRUs gang don't "Independently report" anything.
Don't you remember that little ruse was up when you left the door to the DDi open last year.
I have noticed a lot of you folks getting back to the old "Glad to see we are on the same page" meme again, though.
Nice try.
The regular FR LWNJ's see the polling slipping away from their beloved Barry as America's voters get to see Romney for the first themselves in the debates. No Barry BS about Romney to hide behind. And right on cue they power up the antenna on their tin-foil hats and start screaming:
CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Yorker/h/t TOD:
The choice is clear. The Romney-Ryan ticket represents a constricted and backward-looking vision of America: the privatization of the public good. In contrast, the sort of public investment championed by Obama — and exemplified by both the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Affordable Care Act — takes to heart the old civil-rights motto “Lifting as we climb.” That effort cannot, by itself, reverse the rise of inequality that has been under way for at least three decades. But we’ve already seen the future that Romney represents, and it doesn’t work.
The reelection of Barack Obama is a matter of great urgency. Not only are we in broad agreement with his policy directions; we also see in him what is absent in Mitt Romney — a first-rate political temperament and a deep sense of fairness and integrity. A two-term Obama Administration will leave an enduringly positive imprint on political life. It will bolster the ideal of good governance and a social vision that tempers individualism with a concern for community. Every Presidential election involves a contest over the idea of America. Obama’s America—one that progresses, however falteringly, toward social justice, tolerance, and equality—represents the future that this country deserves.

How the GOP Is Planning to Steal the 2012 Election in 9 Easy Steps!!!!
~snippets~
Mark Karlin: You state that in the 2008 presidential election, 2,706,275 votes were cast and never counted. How did that happen?
Greg Palast: Here's the facts, my friend, calculated from the raw data of the US Election Assistance Commission:
No less than
767,023 provisional ballots were cast and not counted;
1,451,116 ballots were "spoiled," not counted;
488,136 absentee ballots were mailed in, but not counted.
How? Well, I could write a book. And I did: "Billionaires & Ballot Bandits."
Mark Karlin: In the chapter "The Hysteria Factor," you quote the former chairperson of the US Commission on Civil Rights, Mary Frances Berry, as telling you: "Elections aren't stolen in the vote count - they're stolen in the no count." Isn't that the essence of what the Republican Party is trying to do?
Greg Palast: Yep, that's the Rove-arian cancer on our body politic. There are no swing voters left. If you can't tell the difference between the candidates, you probably can't work a doorknob to get out to vote anyway.
The trick is this: Take 1.45 million ballots "spoiled" (cast and not counted for technical reasons, mostly errors in machine readers). The chance your vote will spoil if you're black is seven times the likelihood your ballot will be ruined by a machine if you're white. Whose vote is that? Who gave black people the crap voting machines? The same ones that gave them the crap schools. And Rove knows how to keep it that way.
Mark Karlin: Yet, watchdogs such as Mark Crispin Miller, Brad Friedman and many others do contend that the electronic voting machines do allow for the theft of elections through electronic manipulation of election outcomes.
Greg Palast: That's why I'm including Friedman's analysis on my associated web site, BallotBandits.org. I, though, don't want folks to forget the easiest way to steal votes by computer: unplug the computer. That's right. One of the key ways black votes are gone is the miraculous way that computers have glitches in Hispanic precincts, which suffer a loss of votes five times the loss in white precincts. So the votes aren't changed, they simply disappear. Oops! A "glitch" - no nasty software tricks to explain. Details? You'll have to read the book.
Greg Palast: Democrats used to be the vote suppression champs: Jim Crow laws were written by Democrats. Democrats wore white sheets; Republicans use spreadsheets.
Mark Karlin: I've asked you this before, but let me take your temperature on this again. In the United States, you continue to be shunned by the mainstream corporate media, which means the audience for your intrepid investigations is limited. Does this discourage you? Does the fact that election theft appears to be getting more brazen instead of more transparent cause you to be cynical?
Greg Palast: Yes, it does. I have a Pulitzer Prize in Despair. But with the love of a wonderful woman, my children and Felipe II in liter size, I can make it. And as long as I have Truthout, I know I can lob my investigations for the Guardian and BBC over the electronic Berlin Wall to be read in my home country.

Welcome to Boca Raton!!!!! The media has descended upon little Lynn University. I tried to go over there earlier today and it was crazy. Debate fever in South Florida!!!
Thought I would share a cool Lynn University story...of something good coming of something so bad:
One of the students that will serve as an usher tonight is Gwen Darguste...a junior from Port-au-Prince Haiti. She is attending the school on a scholarship that was set up in honor of 2 faculty and 4 students who died on a charitable trip to Haiti when the devastating earthquake struck in 2010. So congrats to Gwen and congrats to the Fighting Knights of Lynn University.
Happy Debate Watching all!!! :-)
Funniest News Of The Weekend-
Sandra Fluke spoke at a "rally" in Reno, NV over the weekend...and there were only TEN people there. LOL ...And apparently, 8 of the 10 were MEN who were hoping to get laid.
Go back to school Sandra. Maybe you can graduate before you're 40.

Obama/Biden 2012
I see the Right has zero issue with one of their own controlling the vote counting machines. Of course if the Left owned them the cheating would be extensive in the Righties eyes. Sounds like you Yanks need a third party to come in and count the votes. You guys are starting to look not so good from outside the country.
You know it NDD!
When he has to resort to the 'super secret tree-house" meme!
He knows he's screwed! lol
Foreign policy debate questions have been released:
Mr. Obama, questions for you:
1. You travel a lot to foreign countries. Do you like doing that?
2. How did you do such a great job to manage to get the United States to finish a strong 4th in the choice for the 2016 Olympics?
3. Michelle is beautiful, isn't she?
4. Tell us about your foreign experience growing up in a foreign country, being all around foreign people, with all that foreign stuff.
5. Can you show us that "Reset button" you and Hillary have talked so much about? Is that it? It's very nice.
6. Giving speeches to foreign people is important - can you tell us why?
7. You have certainly shown us that bowing to foreign leaders is a strong foreign policy. Please explain why that has been such a successful strategy.
8. Lets see, Benghazi, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, okay we'll skip that stuff.
Mr Romney, questions for you:
1. A two part question to start. Name the Deputy Prime Minister of Dijbout, and what ethnic region is he/she from?
2. Spell "Turkministan"
3. Translate "I'm a rich guy" into Tajikistan. And you have to get the accent right.
4. Why do people around the world hate you so much?
5. Sure, you got the American Olympics to work well, but so many foreign Olympics were not so great. What did you do to make them fail so badly?
6. With the fuel crisis going on, do you promise to fly on stand-by on commercial flights in coach if you somehow steal this election?
7. By agreement, we've already scored this round for President Obama
8. How can you talk to foreigners when you don't even have a tan?
Hah NDD, thanks, that made me laugh.
You tell me old gal, which side is up with conspiracy theories this morning (and all weekend by the way)?
A pretty sure sign of deperation.
But, I doubt you can see that.
Bring on the lawyers.
Another win for Democracy.
Clear Channel Outdoor is taking down all the signs trying to intimidate voters in Wisconsin.
Hah! Hah!
Even Famous and Influential REPUPLICANS do NOT want MITT ROMNEY anywhere NEAR the WHITE HOUSE.
It's TRUE and the Story is the LEAD-IN NEWS on ALL the AP WIRE SERVICES and your MSN COVER-PAGE.
REPUBLICAN Mayor of Los Angeles ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA has PUBLICALLY DECLARED that quote:
"The GOP has gone TOO FAR to the RIGHT. Today between the TEA PARTIERS, the CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS, the BIRTHERS, and the FLAT-EARTHERS, I hardly RECOGNIZE the REPUBLICAN Party ANYMORE".
Wow! This NEWS is DEVASTATING.
WHY? I'm GLAD you ASKED.
REPUBLICANS are FINALLY REALIZING that MITT ROMNEY is the LIAR, CHEATER, and PENSION-FUND THIEF that he is!
They NOW KNOW that MITT RONY is the ONLY CANDIDATE for PRESIDENT that has EVER had a SWISS BANK ACCOUNT.
President BARACK OBAMA has put his FAITH in AMERICA and the AMERICAN PEOPLE
but MITT ROMNEY has put his MORMON FAITH in SWITZERLAND.
That's Not just Wrong.
That's Sick and UnPatriotic.
Mitt Romney is Wrong for America.
If WCA works as a white collar worker in the Auto Industry, he's stealing time from his employer.
Romney is clearly the one who was in command in BOTH debates– he displayed the superior executive
command, skill and gravitas which Obama does not possess. He is an intelligent and articulate businessman who can hopefully get the country back on its feet. Romney does not drink or smoke, and is a family-loving man. He is nothing like Obama tried so desperately to portray (aka "LIE ABOUT") in those diabolical commercials. Bear in mind, there is nothing that Obama can say to change the fact that we Americans saw and heard Romney with our own eyes and ears. Obama takes us voters for idiots and thinks we follow him blindly. He is sadly mistaken, and will see the results come November. Obama's tactics will backfire on him.
There was only ONE man who could be described as Presidential in those debates – and it was NOT President Obama. Tonight will be no different.
Romney/Ryan 2012!
As I've said before, the Wall Street Poll is heavily slanted towards the Republican supporters. Do you really think any organization involved in Wall Street would ever look favorable on President Obama? They hate him. So I put little stock in this prejudice Poll.
Looking forward to seeing our President having a strong showing tonight. He's forgot more about foreign l than Romney wil ever know. All Romney will whine about is Lybia. That's it, then he's through.
OBAMA IN 2012.
Love the first 4 posts...... All paid Obama bloggers with pre-canned, pre-constructed posts...... Fun to see them sweat. Get ready to get real jobs.
Hopefully Mr. Schiffer won't commit another act of Prestitution like Candy Crowley did last round. Let O try to stand on his own, his own record, his own failures.
Mr Romney is going to clean O's clock tonight. 4 year of bowing to foreign leaders, kissing Islamic extrimists azzes, appeasing any entity that hates the US all have been an utter failure.
Oh, and I many Americans want to know what Obama meant telling the Russian leader, "I'll have more flexibility after the election" What the hell does that mean??
Democraslavery is coming to an end !! Socialism is coming to an end !!
Americans have seen what Socialism, real core Socialism looks like and it does't bode well for them, their kids and grandkids futures. You need not look further than Greece or Spain to see wheer it leads.
The Constitution the great country starts out "We the People..." not we the government.
WE THE PEOPLE !!
Romney / Ryan 2012
Obama uninstall….. ███████████████▒ 99% complete
Backhouse, Feisty, Ron, Beverly, great way to start the week.
As for the Romney family ties to voting machines, I see conservatives are all for it. Seriously, if President Obama had part ownership of machines in Ohio, or Florida, or ??, the right would be going ballistic. It seems, they approve of a conflict of interest as long as said conflict supports their candidate. This should be a nonpartisan issue, something both sides find troubling and outrageous, because it suggests the ability for one side to essentially fix the election.
Ohio's Husted has tried every trick in the book to block and suppress democrats from voting. This is not what our country is about. We fight wars, our men and women die, in the name of free and honest elections in other countries yet in the USA, we have a political party out to destroy democracy. Think about it. Our Founding Fathers must be turning over in their graves.
I see where Sandra Fluke stumped for Obama on Saturday in Reno, Nevada trying to raise support for his flailing campaign. The rally was held at the Sak-n-Save, and 10 people showed up. Here's a clip of her speech. http://lonelyconservative.com/2012/10/in-nevada-sandra-fluke-drew-a-crowd-of-ten/
I guess that wasn't such a great idea to attract women voters, now was it Obama campaign?
Romney/Ryan 2012!
I see the usual MSNBC cheerleaders here every day. They spew their lies about Romney but can't come up with anything positive about their failed candidate. I can't wait to see how you guys feel on 11/7. I've already got my tickets to head to Phoenix and watch some NASCAR and CELEBRATE the new direction in America.
President Romney, sounds great doesn't it?
1/20/2013 - the end of and awful error

The choice is clear.
Obama up 5 in Ohio in latest poll.
America, give President Obama an opportunity to keep our country on the right path.
He's been a competent, mature president.
He has earned a second term. Romney has earned nothing.
Are there moderate Republicans out there voting for President Obama because of Mitt's protesting for a draft for a war he did not serve in?
Yes.
GOTV
Pat,
No truer words were ever spoken. I will be signing off early to take my 92 yr old daddy to vote. Providing the creek does rise and he lives another year he will see the the "Second Coming of President Obama".
Let's not forget my father is closer to Africa than anyone in our family (who knows maybe his grandfather was a slave) and has endures more Jim Crow than anyone in our family.

New campaign commercial - A lady walks into the kitchen and sees a wad of dough on the table. Invisible hands begin to knead it, add flour, water, oil...it looks like maybe it's going to be a pizza crust - not in the mood for pizza (?) well, two seconds later it's folded and flipped and scored with a fork - how about a calzone? Wait, suddenly it's being flattened and sprinkled with sugar - maybe it's a pie crust?? Then it's a ball again, it flies up into the air and lands with a THUD - and again, it's just a big pile of dough left on the table. "Romney/Ryan - you really don't know what it's going to be."
Jody- You're JUST NOW believeing that our Founding Fathers are turning over in their graves? What a laugh. They weren't turning over when
we elected a president who's in favor of killing infants?

SAY BYE BYE OBUMBO!!!!
...
Poor Backhouse/Navy. I guess he went ahead and did a little research.
See, waaaay back in 2004, "the polls" had Kerry ahead in Ohio at this point, by anywhere from one to six points. What the poor, frantic B/N fails to recognize is that those polls, in common with these polls, wildly over estimated just how many absentee/early voters there were- and for whom they were voting.
Chuck Todd explained the problem last week, but I guess you weren't paying attention.
In an article about their Marist/Iowa polling, he informed us that early voters, who made up 34% of the electorate in their poll, we're breaking for Obama by huge numbers, while those planning to vote on election day gave Romney a huge lead over Obama.
The problem? Well, it's two-fold: first, only 19% of requested early ballots had been returned. The longer they sit, the less likely they are to be filled out and sent back. In the case of a person who gets an early ballot and does not return it, the person is NOT a likely voter, because that person is precluded from voting in person, having requested an absentee/early voting ballot.
The second problem? Early/absentee requests in Iowa only totaled about 30% of the 2008 electorate. Given new registrations, it's safe to say that the percentage for the 2012 electorate is somewhat lower.
So, less than thirty percent of the electorate has even requested absentee/early voting ballots, but NBC/Marist tells us that 34% of Iowans are voting early. They could, easily, solve the problem by weighting down to the actual number of ballots requested;they could achieve greater accuracy by tracking the number of ballots returned, and weighting down to that number. They choose, instead, to publish a wildly inaccurate number, and then explain that it is due to people responding that they have, indeed, voted early- despite not having done so.
It's a good thing these folks are not in charge of any medical studies.
The same thing is going on in Ohio- and has happened in the past. That "300,000 vote swing" was simply terrible polling, with no basis in reality. I must say, though, that given the amount of hysteria among the liberals on this board, I may just go buy some stock in Alcoa.
Aluminum should shoot through the roof in a couple of weeks.
Hey Feisty (aka Jen Psaki) tell your boy he's goin down!!!!...You seem a little more nervous, ALMOST DESPERATE! today, starting to get those ass sweats?
We here in OHIO can't wait for tonights debate when Romney drives the final nail into obumbo's coffin!!!
Don't choke on your popcorn...
...
Three simple reasons!
Romney: Leadership, Leadership, Leadership
O is too busy visiting talk shows, Hollywood is a better fit.
Jody #'s -- Romney has ZERO experience in foreign policy. He fell FLAT on his face twice trying to politicize a very tragic event in Libya. While overseas he managed to insult just about everyone. But the most appalling thing is he surrounds himself with BUSH neocons. Most of his advisors are left over BUSHIES.
The look on his face when he got called out on his bold face lie in the last debate was priceless. The mask fell off on national TV. That's what happens when you DON"T have a command of the facts.
A message form Blatina. Good Morning to al and hope all had a good weekend.
And since we are talking about a race that was suppose to be a blowout by Obama. Here is how close it has gotten. Yeah, I know is just Polls but they do give you and indication of the mood out there.
Obama will certainly go on and on during the debate to all of us about how he personally took out Osama bin Laden using only his 4 iron.
Feisty, are you Jen Psaki?
Tell the truth, do you work for 0bama's campaign?
Trust me when I tell you, that even if 67% of the voters vote for Mr. Obama, the republicans, counting in their tossing out democrat and independant voter registration cards, intimidating workers to vote Romney in order to save from being fired if he loses, and buying the actual voting machines to manipulate after votes have been made, Romney will lower that percentage. By owning the voting machines, his family and Bain Corporation affiliates that now own those machines can simply rig them in Mr. Obama's favor and get caught in a recount to negate the democrat votes in that manner or simply rig them to give him the votes outright if he has the balls and risk getting caught.
The republican party has been outright criminal in how they are conducting this voter manipulation in much the very same way that Amanutjob won his own election in Iran.

A good sign the libs know Obama will lose...
Romney's Lies are getting out of Control, who in their right mind would vote for a lying draft dodger, this Clown is beyond a Phony !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congressman Darrell Issa gets blasted over release of sensitive documents
According to Josh Rogin of Foreign Policy Magazine, Issa posted 166 pages of sensitive but unclassified State Department communications related to Libya on the committee's website [that] afternoon as part of his effort to investigate security failures and expose contradictions in the administration's statement's regarding the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi saying that the lives of the names of the Libyans that were released now puts them in serious danger.
http://www.examiner.com/article/congressman-darrell-issa-gets-blasted-over-release-of-sensitive-documents
-------------------------------------------------------
Darrell Issa is dangerous to America. He does not care about the death of Ambassador Stevens and the other Americans. Darrell Issa only concern is politicization for his Party.
Furthermore, Darrell Issa is an un- convicted felon. Darrell Issa is eager to investigate the Obama administration, but he's got plenty of skeletons in his own closet.

Its nice to see everyone getting their 'scandal' and 'we got screwed' stories straight before the election. After all, when Romney wins you all will atleast have the same story..."its the voting machines...the Romney family stole the election". Nevermind that some people in this country are not happy with the job the President has done.
I anticipate the President going 0/3 in debates. Tonight is Foreign Policy night, nowhere to hide Mr. President.....well, unless you throw Hillary under the bus again. What's the over/under on how many yes or no questions the President will dodge tonight? My bet is three....there probably wont be any more than that anyway....he will have to actually explain his decisions, which he will do with recycled talking points, just like the last two debates. Romney will hammer him on Libya, his comments to President Dmitry Medvedev, not calling out President Mohammed Morsi...the list goes on and on. This will be a target rich environment.
I am loving the people who are claiming that President Obama has all of this Foreign Policy experience, when at the beginning of his administration it looked like he skimmed through Foreign Policy for dummies and called himself an expert....and it hasnt improved much.
The democrat conspiracy crackpots are out in full force this morning! Already making excuses and your guy hasn't even lost yet!
2 Huge Questions:
1) What has Obama done to deserve a second term? If he wanted to raise taxes on the rich, why didn't he do it? If he wanted a comprehensive immigration reform policy why didn't he do it? If he wanted gay marriage nationalized, why didn't he propose it? Where is his budget? Where is his deficit reduction plan? Where are his plans to save medicare and Social Security? The sad answer is he has not done anything to solve our problems. He has not even done anything to solve the left's problems ( immigration, gays, global warming, etc)
2) What is his specific agenda for his second term? What is going to do NOW to get more jobs and turn the economy around? How does he intend to balance the budget? How will the next 4 years be better than the last 4 years?
We have no specifics from Obama, no plans, no budgets, no vision, just same old, same old.
Obama has no record to defend, so his campaign consists of spreading fear and lies about Mitt Romney.
Vote Republican if you want real change!
Woot Woot - you know the whackjob liberals are losin' it when their fearless leader Feisty DumbFux is panicking!!!
Yep - Obummer can't win the war of ideas so it must be the voting machine's fault!
PS....Joanna, I almost pissed myself laughing on tonights questions!...H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!! Thank you!
The UN is going to oversee our elections on election day.
Here in America.
That's how corrupt and anti-democracy today's Republican Party has become.
The UN - here in America to oversee OUR ELECTIONS.
That's what Karl Rove has given us.

Hate filled campaign? Obama? That shouldn't even be in the same sentence. R$mney has been rethinking his campaign for the last 8 years. How many more changes in his policies do we have to endure? The Kochs Brothers change his stance for him with each check.
Obama/Biden 2012.
Considering the voting fraud going on in Florida by the GOP I'd be watching for Obama losing there.
I love these threads.
Like a bunch of psychiatric ward patients rambling to each other in a circle, while everyone else looks on.

That's right, so do search on Fox News dumber... and read the actual studies that show people who watch Fox News are actually dumber after watching Fox news.
Time to change the channel and see what is really going on in America instead of the bought and paid for news by the BILLIONAIRES who are rigging the elections for their rich friend Romney. Rupert Murdoch buying the media around the world to change laws to make himself richer and richer and more powerful than the people of America. WHEN DOES THE GREED END?
Vote President Obama/Biden and Team America 2012. Protect America from the GREEDY RICH 1%.
David Australia
The US election is receiving massive publicity in Australia. We see the election as an incredibly important event for world politics. Obama has raised the reputation of the US in many countries throughout the world due him being a world class diplomat. Under the republican government led by Bush Jnr, the US created many enemies as his whole team lacked clear thinking logic that true diplomats show on the public stage. Australians have less religious convictions than all other English speaking countries. The average Australian does not mind if a president or prime minister has strong ties to religion, however we can not comprehend electing a religious zealot to the most powerful position in the Wester World. Obviously one of the current candidates is of that mind. The world needs pure logic, not another zealot in Romney. Obama is fixing the issues caused by a careless Government. Ryan is seen throughout the world as a far right nutter. For the sake of sensible internal and international policy Obama must win!
Regards
David
Oct. 22, 2012 at 5:40 a.m.
The above is copied from the 538 blog this morning. This election is more important than people realize. Everyone, who hasn't already voted, needs to vote on Nov 6th. Please make the correct choice and vote for President Obama. It just doesn't matter to the United States, it matters to the whole world!!!!
I'm looking forward to electing the guy who couldn't even pull off a friendly visit to some of our most supportive allies without pissing them off. Elect Mitt the Twit in 2012! Because if your country isn't called the Unites States of America, then you can just fork right off!
YES SHE IS!!!!...FEEL TAKEN?...USED?.....LIED TO?...YOU SHOULD!!!
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
I do not care who Fiesty Red head is. Whomever he/she is really does not matter. Fiesty is just another lost soul clinging to the coat tails of a FAILED leader. If Fiesty would wake up and see the error then it would be ok. But the leftists on this site Job1 SS, Bev they just do not understand right from wrong or common sense.
I am voting for Romney because I love my country and I do not want to see it destroyed anymore. Obama had his chance and he blew it. BAD. He has no accomplishments that help America in four years except he gave the go ahead to kill one man. Thats it. The rest has been partisan BS to cripple this nation.
It is time for someone to take command of the situation. Romney is willing to do the job so I say do it. It will be extremely hard and will take time to undo the damage but Romney is willing to stand in the gap so let him.
Dumb Fux quotes for the year:
Obama/Biden 2012 - "Face it -We're the best name callers ever!"
Don't Care:
Sure, easy for you to say, snuggled in safely and financially well in Australia. Do you have a fiscal cliff looming?
There is more to being a leader than placating globally.
Ticked off in Ohio
here is what Romney DID SAY about the al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden -- the mastermind of 9/11, public enemy No. 1, who was responsible for the deaths of 3000 Americans: it wasn't "worth moving heaven and earth" to get Osama bin Laden.
So if Mitt was the president, Osama bin Laden would be alive today - another thing he has in common with GW Bush.
BTW, since you are so critical of Obama's Libya, how the hell do you feel about the 40 intel memos warning about al Qaeda's plans to attack that were ignored by the Bush admin? You must be pretty pissed of at that? Or is your "outrage" at terrorists attacking Americans really fake?
I'll tell you what, I will take the parents of the Ambassoador and the Navy SEAL who stand behind the Obama Admin and asking Mitt to STFU over your opinion anyday.
And there it is again, WCA: You are REALLY worried that the sociopath Romney is going to lose! You should be too.
He is decidedly unsuitable for public office. Just ask his "home" state of MA! They are rejecting him in HUGE numbers.
Dear Old, Senile, Silly Florida Voters who are going to vote for MR
I'm a young guy and though I am going to vote for BO, I'm won't be so ticked off if Romney wins...Why you ask?...Because I hope he guts Medicare and SS...Why should I pay for your socialized healthcare while I'm stuck still paying for my own. If you think BO is communist and socialist, then don't show up to the hospital with your Medicare card...the few bucks you paid into it doesn't even come close to the cost of paying for a hospitalization today....a young guy like me has to pay for your sorry ass. Why can't I keep my own money and let me invest it how I see fit. I saw a whole bunch of old retired "swing" voters who are going to vote for MR, because they don't like socialism and redistribution of wealth...well WTF is Medicare and SS?????? I want to see the federal government offload the dead weight (i.e. 47%, there is some truth to it) off its books and leave you out in the cold. I want MR to voucherize Medicare and leave you at the mercy of insurance companies to cover your healthcare, assuming you haven't smoked your lungs into a massive tumor for which insurance companies will deny you when he repeals Obamacare. Lets just admit that many of you old geezers don't like BO because he's BO and for nothing else really...Many of you when you were younger were lynching guys like BO and now you can't stand that he's president...You'll question his birthplace, his birth certificate, his religion, his education credentials, call him a socialist, communist, marxist, fascist, food stamp president but of course you're beating around the bush on the real issue thats got you enraged. So look in the mirror, see yourself for who you really are and vote for MR. I'll have a few more bucks to put in my pocket and you'll be out in the cold with your shriveled up &8$% in your hands broke because you had to be hospitalized and had no Medicare or not enough to cover your hospital bill...God we love capitalism!!!
ROMNEY FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE SEND THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN JOBS OVERSEAS TO AID CHINA!
ROMNEY FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE TAKE PROFITS FROM OVERSEAS AND HIDE THEM IN oFFSHORE ACCOUNTS TO AVOID BEING AN AMERICAN. REAL AMERICANS PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES.
WHY DO REPUBLICANS HATE AMERICAN WORKERS?
Romney's company Bain is shipping more jobs to china as we speak. Those workers who lost their jobs contacted Romney's office. Romney refuses to do anything to save those America jobs. Romney will profit from this company sending those jobs to China.
Republicons block the vote on 7-19-12 that would end those tax breaks for Romney's company that is now taking those jobs to China. Republicons fully responsible for losing those American jobs once again.
Republicons block the vote to 7-19-12 to give tax breaks to those companies that would bring those jobs back to America. Republicons responsible for blocking jobs that could have come back to America!
CHINA SAYS VOTE FOR ROMNEY BECAUSE HE IS A JOB PROVIDER...IN CHINA!

Big Bird, Binders and Conspiracies, the last month of the Obama campaign
What a dope you are acting like. Do you right wing hacks ever fact check instead of believing Fox Noise blather? I watch both sides in order to make an intelligent conclusion.
"If You Don't Have A Record To Run On"...
Republicans, are running ads to distort President Obama's words. FOX News repeats it ad infintum. In fact, Paul Ryan even uttered these words during the debate to portray President Obama as a divider. The National Review online has a piece claiming President Obama is employing the very tactics he once denounced.
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/329863/small-things-nathaniel-botwinick#comments
Below I have copied the ending of President Obama's Acceptance Speech. This is where these words were first spoken. I want you to pay special attention to the last six paragraphs in order to get the essence of what President Obama said.
~snippets~
If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.
And you know what? It's worked before, because it feeds into the cynicism we all have about government. When Washington doesn't work, all its promises seem empty. If your hopes have been dashed again and again, then it's best to stop hoping and settle for what you already know.
I get it. I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don't fit the typical pedigree, and I haven't spent my career in the halls of Washington.
But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the naysayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me; it's about you.
It's about you.
For 18 long months, you have stood up, one by one, and said, "Enough," to the politics of the past. You understand that, in this election, the greatest risk we can take is to try the same, old politics with the same, old players and expect a different result. You have shown what history teaches us, that at defining moments like this one, the change we need doesn't come from Washington. Change comes to Washington.
Change happens -- change happens because the American people demand it, because they rise up and insist on new ideas and new leadership, a new politics for a new time.
America, this is one of those moments.
I believe that, as hard as it will be, the change we need is coming, because I've seen it, because I've lived it.
Because I've seen it in Illinois, when we provided health care to more children and moved more families from welfare to work.
I've seen it in Washington, where we worked across party lines to open up government and hold lobbyists more accountable, to give better care for our veterans, and keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists.
And I've seen it in this campaign, in the young people who voted for the first time and the young at heart, those who got involved again after a very long time; in the Republicans who never thought they'd pick up a Democratic ballot, but did.
I've seen it -- I've seen it in the workers who would rather cut their hours back a day, even though they can't afford it, than see their friends lose their jobs; in the soldiers who re-enlist after losing a limb; in the good neighbors who take a stranger in when a hurricane strikes and the floodwaters rise.
You know, this country of ours has more wealth than any nation, but that's not what makes us rich. We have the most powerful military on Earth, but that's not what makes us strong. Our universities and our culture are the envy of the world, but that's not what keeps the world coming to our shores.
Instead, it is that American spirit, that American promise, that pushes us forward even when the path is uncertain; that binds us together in spite of our differences; that makes us fix our eye not on what is seen, but what is unseen, that better place around the bend. That promise is our greatest inheritance. It's a promise I make to my daughters when I tuck them in at night and a promise that you make to yours, a promise that has led immigrants to cross oceans and pioneers to travel west, a promise that led workers to picket lines and women to reach for the ballot.
And it is that promise that, 45 years ago today, brought Americans from every corner of this land to stand together on a Mall in Washington, before Lincoln's Memorial, and hear a young preacher from Georgia speak of his dream.
The men and women who gathered there could've heard many things. They could've heard words of anger and discord. They could've been told to succumb to the fear and frustrations of so many dreams deferred.
But what the people heard instead -- people of every creed and color, from every walk of life -- is that, in America, our destiny is inextricably linked, that together our dreams can be one.
"We cannot walk alone," the preacher cried. "And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back."
America, we cannot turn back... not with so much work to be done; not with so many children to educate, and so many veterans to care for; not with an economy to fix, and cities to rebuild, and farms to save; not with so many families to protect and so many lives to mend. America, we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone.
At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise, that American promise, and in the words of scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess.
Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America

How anyone can vote for a man who refuses to show his taxes to prove he is not a felon? That along is a compelling reason, not to mention, all the other scandalous things Romney has done to not put MYTH Romney in the White House. Romney and Ryan are serial liars!
Vote a straight democratic ticket. Give President Obama a Congress he can work with.
BTW: on that Big Bird, Binders and Conspiracies, the last month of the Obama campaign thingy; How about MYTH 's Obama-loney, Tar baby, Lion in the White House, Birthers, and conspiracies, Republi Cons assert the last 3.5 years against the Obama campaign

Think Progress:
In recent weeks, Romney made good on a promise he made earlier this year to a wealthy donor that he would try to exploit a foreign policy crisis for political gain. “If something of that nature presents itself,” Romney said, referring to the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, “I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity.” With the attack that killed four Americans at the U.S diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya last month, Romney has done just that.
______________
I can't think of a damn thing that Romney HASN'T exploited.
The Coal Miners daughter is going to put Coal in Romney's Sock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you not read posts from the right? Have you missed the fear mongering by the RWNJ? How many times have you seen the NJ's throw out socialist or communist when trying to paint Obama? Lame arguement Alan.
Come on Alan, why don't YOU TELL US why the BUSH neocons ROMNEY has chosen to lead his foreign policy agenda will be good policy for the country, should he be elected?
The one thing that Romney cannot change is the fact that he put his money in foreign banks.
Not just companies who made money in foreign countries (like GE, Coke, Caterpillar, etc), but actually put his money in foreign banks.
That is the one issue that proves Romney turned his back on the American economy and on American workers.

Vote Republican if you want real [2001-2008] change!
here, I just Romneyfied your quote.
Mitt Romney - the FAILED MASSACHUSTETTS GOVERNOR

don't get your hopes up. The FL voter elected Rick Scott as their Governor - AFTER Rick Scott's company, Columbia/HCA, defrauded Medicare out of billions while he was the CEO.
LMAO!
Let's see... not a one of the RWNJ's can talk about what Willard has in store for this country!
So instead, they back to babbling on about tin foil & who really is Feisty Redhead!
AH NOW, Denial is a Terrrible Thing. Common knowledge about the Ohio vote-switch in 2004:
"The widespread use of electronic voting machines from ES&S, and of Diebold software maintained by Triad, allowed Blackwell to electronically flip a 4% Kerry lead to a 2% Bush victory in the dead of election night.
ES&S, Diebold and Triad were all owned or operated by Republican partisans. The shift of more than 300,000 votes after 12:20 am election night was a virtual statistical impossibility.
It was engineered by Michael Connell, an IT specialist long affiliated with the Bush Family. Blackwell gave Connell's Ohio-based GovTech the contract to count Ohio's votes, which was done on servers housed in the Old Pioneer Bank Building in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Thus the Ohio vote tally was done on servers that also carried the e-mail for Karl Rove and the national Republican Party. http://truth-out.org/news/item/2319
Michael Connell died in a mysterious small-plane crash, the following December, 6 weeks after giving his deposition.
Bill in Fairfax -- Romney stood in front of America and claimed credit for something he didn't bring about.
Countless women's organization had worked on bringing more women into Massachusetts government work force well before Romney became Governor.
Typical of a man who embraces the 50's era.
Farmers across America are turning "BLUE" because the TeaBaggers in Congress has failure to pass the new farm bill to get them through this very difficult time ( "DROUGHT" ) Most farms are forced to close and declare bankruptcy, thanks to Romney and his Buddies in Congress !!!!!!!!
WAKE UP America, the GOP is destroying our Country !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUSH IGNORED 911 , thousands died.
Bush LIED about Iraq, Thousand died and are wounded and more dying.
Bush quit looking for the killer Bin Laden.
Romney said he would not even look for him
President Obama and Team America killed Bin Laden.
Romney flip flops and says he would have made the same decision as President Obama.
Romney hires 17 of 24 of his advisers from BUSH/CHENEY. Why do you want the nation to suffer once again with his cast of perps who helped bring about the killing thousands of our Americans?
BUSH/ROMNEY/CHENEY/RYAN/ROVE FAILED AMERICANS FOR A WORSE TOMORROW TODAY!
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN AND TEAM AMERICA 2012 PROTECT AMERICA FROM THE PAST FAILED POLICY!
I see so many Romney supporters say they are voting for him because they actually believe they will no longer see social security and medicare being taken out of their payroll checks. This is their actual reason. What they don't understand is that Romney never told them any such thing. Those will continue to be taken out and most likely at a higher rate to make up for the tax breaks given to the upper tier. They will simply be on their own once they get injured either on the job or any other way as the tealibanians already have said they are going to deregulate the work place and the republicans have said for many years they plan on making laws to make employers blameless for injuries.
More endorsements for Obama:
Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and Vladimir Putin, are endorsing Obama.
North Korea's Kim Jong-un will probably be next.
Isn't Boca Raton the place where Romney made his infamous "47%" remark at the house of another corporate raider type that likes to throw orgies for his pals? I wonder if the same guy will throw a "party" (nudge nudge wink wink) for Mitt after the debate.
Tooo funny considering how Bev the Racist thinks that mere reality is a Fox News Conspiracy. Obama on the other hand is going to say 'I know secret intel Romney, you dont'. Of course most people know that it is not true considering he's ditched out on many security council meetings.
Why is the Left of Castro crowd can cite propaganda sites such as Thinkprogress and MediaMatters and call it legit but if someone even hints around Fox. Goofy libs.
Independent thought, if you had taken the time to read what I wrote, you would have read that the post was copied. As a matter of fact, I am a retired, white female from upstate New York, who can't wait to vote for President Obama.
Let's see??? if their policies are the same as Bush/Cheney plus a big dose of deception/lies and austerity for 95% of us, Deductive reasoning will tell you they only work for what's in the best interest of the monopolies. Vote out all the organised GOP crime family. Your health and pocket book depend on it.
It's not even close, Obama wins by 54% to 41% Romney in almost all Battle ground States except North Carolina.
The POLLS are showing a dead heat to please the Republicans, that is a known fact folks.
Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada, Colorado and New Hampshire are all in the President's bag according to an insider Republican POLL taken by a very conservative and Pro-Karl Rove Institution (name whitheld)...
Is anyone a little surprised that Karl Rove is mute lately?
Think I'm kidding, look for Next Tuesday's POLL and see what we are talking about here...
The 47% comment did more damage than any other presidential races in recent memory. So many RED states folks were hurt, most are not gonna vote at all, and that hurts Romney.
So to counter that, a strategy to water-down the "President ahead" Polls so as to fire-up the Republican base was put in place by non other than gues who?...You'll see in a few days folks
The numbers most us are looking at is unbelievable, its NOT even close for Romney...there's even a Perennial RED state that has turned Yellow....and on the verge of going BLUE...I doubt folks Republican folks are sleeping lately.
You have to remember Repubs dont even like Romney, it took so much for this guy to even win nomination of his party!
What happened to Obama in the polls?, he was ahead in every category just three weeks ago before his first devastating debate? I thought incumbents were supposed to be ahead in the polls.....not drop in them the closer we get to election day?
That's exactly what I have been suspecting Doc!
Problem for Obama is not the fear mongering of the right. The difference from 2008 is that he actually has a record of governing now. The reason I posted part of his acceptance speech is to show that his words and deeds are not the same. Now you may argue Romney is no different, however, Barack Obama and his supporters have tried to tell us that he was somehow different. I see him, as I always seen him, as simply another politician mouthing platitudes. I am offended by his supporters claiming he was something he wasn't, the smartest, the coolest, the most wonderful president ever to hold the office. If you had been realistic then I might have more time for him. His achievements while in office are simply a continuation of the fiscally reckless path of the Bush Administration. He has no plans to change the Bush tax rates, except for top earners, so he is still driving a $3T hole in budget. He expanded the war in Afghanistan. He executed an American with no due process and made the argument it was legal. He expanded an unaffordable entitlement program while claiming he was not responsible for the deficits it created in the first place (Medicare-D). He created an entitlement program that will cause millions to lose work, or lose their health insurance.
All in all he is not up to the job, IMHO, and that opinion I am entitled to. Do I think Romney will be better? I don't know. I just know that we have had 12 years of fiscal mismanagement and I have heard nothing from the current Administration to think that it will change over a second term. As to Romney's tax proposal, I do not see how they add up right now but I'm willing to take the chance that he will cause a change in the attitude in Washington because the status quo is unacceptable.....and no, I do not want a return to the complete Democratic control of 2009 - 2010.
Because if you ask any Foreign Policy expert they will tell you that Obama has basically continued the Bush policies, so what's the difference? Show me an example of real difference between the Bush years and the Obama years. They like us better? If so what concrete benefit has that brought the United States?
Israel and Palestine...kicked down the road just like Bush
Iraq...... followed the timeline agreed to before Obama was elected...which he claimed credit for before the election
Afghanistan.....was the escalation worth
Russia.....reset mark 2 after the election
Europe....ignoring the US as it deals with its debt crisis
Latin America.....ignored by the current Administration
China...no change from the Bush Administration
Biggest foreign policy achievement...execution of Osama Bin Laden
It really would be quite a story if 0bama's campaign spokeswoman turned out to be working with First Read/NBC/MSNBC to put out propaganda. I'm sure the voting public would like to hear about all the misogynistic and vile things 0bama's spokeswoman has to say.
So, Feisty, are you Jen Psaki?
Tell the truth, do you work for 0bama's campaign?
JoAnnaSmith1
I hear bin Laden and al Qaeda is endorsing Romney since Romney didn't care to go after the mastermind of 9/11, public enemy No. 1, the terrorist who was responsible for the deaths of 3000 Americans.
See, you pulled your little list out of your azz - totally fabricated statement supported by no facts. But too bad for Romney, his statement about "It's not worth moving heaven and Earth" to get the SOB is a FACT.
By the way Alan in NJ -- Big Bird and Binders were brought to the public by none other than ROMNEY.
Maybe if he had something of important to bring to the table we wouldn't have to ride him
on the "small" things.
Response to your post -- No man is perfect. The President is human. Some of us understand we will not get perfection in anything when it comes to government. That said, IMO you never understood the scope or magnitude, if you will, of the Great Recession. But at least you admit that Romney's math doesn't add up. ; )
If Romney is elected, and the USA is going under...will he call for help from God, who lives on the planet Kolob?
If so, will God help out?
We NEED to re-elect the President!

ROMNEY FOREIGN POLICY PLANS.
REMOVE THE REST OF AMERICA JOBS TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES.
REMOVE ALL HIS MONEY TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES TO AVOID PAYING ANY AMERICAN TAXES.
Romney vows to be tough on BeckyBeckyBeckystan. Vows to punish BeckyBeckyBeckystan by outlawing any capital gains taxes there. Vows to punish the middle class and poor there by making them pay the taxes for the rich. Vows to take away all healthcare the first day in office..Vows to destroy their Social Security. Vows to end all taxes on the rich 1%.
Yes Romney vows to be as tough on BeckybeckyBeckystan as he will be on America!!!
VOTE PRESIDENT OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Houston, I believe Boca Raton is just down the road from where Obama famously said
How fitting for 'Foreign Policy night'.
Elliot, I am pretty sure that Feisty is nothing more than a Pro Bono server for NBC. This Jen person has to be a little smarter than Feisty considering how low info Feisty really is. yes she spews propaganda but look at the target audience. Obama thralls. Zombies. Drones.
Bin Ladens dead remember and Romney has never been president. Boy BayLIE, seeming awfully nervous and desparate. Also for good measure throw in some Nazi references
SoSad @ 1.73: You have no respect for older citizens. That IS sad.
After almost having another Great Depression after dishonest businessmen found a way to make money without actually producing any useful goods or services, do we really want to put their poster boy, Mitt Romney in charge?
David Stockman writes a detailed analysis of some of Romney's deals at Bain in latest Newsweek. Basically, Mitt made a lot of money repackaging broken companies with no future into something they could sell to unwary investors. Many of these investors lost huge sums of money on the deals.
Mitt is a glorified scam artist. You can see the dishonesty that he so easily uses to distort his record and Obama's record. Mitt is a well practiced con man.
OBAMA 2012.....for integrity in our highest office.
ROMNEY VOWS TO BE TOUGH ON CHINA! Yes he has plans to send more barbed wire to China to help keep those workers in their prison compounds working for pennies on jobs he sent there from America!
I think the important thing to note about this particular poll is that it did not include registered voters. It was a poll of unregistered voters period. The majority of everyone I particularly know have already registered during the summer votings. Of those that have not registered, well for the most part, most of them have never registered and never voted and do not intend to vote now. For those that have, the majority are voting Obama. The good news about the religious cult sects is that their numbers are drastically declining each and every year so that bible thumping is simply turning more and more away from the right.
It's a sure bet Barry will be spiking the football yet again. He has to, it's really the only success he had in four years. And you are correct, Romney and his army (he is rich, it's obvious he has one) didn't chase down bin Laden. If Romney had any decency, he'd be using that army of his to help Obama and not work against him.
But Obama made them the central themes of his campaign. That, and name calling. Quite the leader that Obama. Now we know why things are so messed up.

2) 533 lies in 30 weeks. That has got to be a record!
Mitt Romney tells 533 lies in 30 weeks, Steve Benen documents them
Since this is a foreign policy debate, I hope that Obama spends some time talking about China and mentions Romney's comments on China when he worked at Bain. Romney remarked on how impressed he was with the near-slave labor pool that works 12 hours shifts, seven days a week. Romney enthused about what a wonderful opportunity it was for American businessmen who wanted to escape from the odious burden of having to provide American workers with decent wages, work conditions, and benefits.
Alan in NJ -- Here are some differences:
Obama ended the war in Irag that Bush started and didn't know how to end.
He made the call to take out Bin Laden, not Bush.
He's set a date to leave Afghanistan, Bush neocons would like to stay.
Obama uses reason BEFORE might.
ROMNEY PLANS TO WIN BECAUSE OF REPUBLICANS CREATING VOTER SUPPRESSION LAWS ACROSS THE NATION!
Repubs have created voter suppression laws across the nation and brag now Romney can win the election. Taking away the right to vote for seniors, the disabled, the poor, and the young. Laws were passed by republicons after they studied who voted against republicons and when. This enabled them to create laws to stop early voting and creating numerous steps and costs to keep these people from voting.Repubs have to CHEAT to try and win the election. ROMNEY THE LIAR IN CHEAT!
VOTE PRESIDENT OBAMA/BIDEN AND TEAM AMERICA 2012 PROTECT AMERICAN'S RIGHT TO VOTE!
Romney/Ryan - Silly Putty Politicians. Electing Romney is like tossing a two-headed coin - "Heads, Sheldon Adelson wins" OR "Heads, The Koch Boys win". Two faces, no spine.
Caesar, Elliot, is that all you've got? Why don't you morons answer my questions. Tell us your views on getting your science from the bible. How's that working out for you? The party you promote has leaders who wish to engender a mistrust of science. Do you agree with that? Do you think "evolution is a lie from the pit of hell"? Come on step up, show some courage and talk about real issues, not who's pretending to be someone else. Pathetic. Really.
Houston, that is the very goal of the republican party and their corporate sponsors for america. Have you noticed that most employers have taken Texas stance on hiring now and no longer hire employees. They now call them contracted workers with absolutely no benefits. That is already becoming the hiring norm set by the republicans. Once they wipe out OSHA, those contracted workers will simply not be called back in to work and once they do, it will be under the very same terms only for half the pay.
Alan,
Romney on:
In the "47%" video: “I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say, ‘There’s just no way,’” Romney told the Boca Raton donors.
So was Romney lying when talking at the private fundraiser? Romney revealed that had little faith that a peaceful solution could be found between Israelis and Palestinians,
Let's see Mitt's position on ending the war in Iraq: Romney criticized Obama for an "abrupt withdrawal" of troops from Iraq.
And as opposed to John McSame's willingness to spend another 100 years in Iraq, yes, Obama gets credit for ACTUALLY ENDING THE WAR.
but yet, during the VP debate, Paul Ryan criticized the Obama Admin for withdrawing troops - which is it then?
yes, we know that Russia is Romney's #1 enemy.
any proof? BTW, how is Romney's reputation in Europe?
why did Romney dump his ownership of Chinese companies so quickly? There were plenty of China-related holdings by Bain funds in which Mr. Romney has invested in and made LOTS of MOOLAH from. And as Romney repeats trade message, Bain maintains China ties.
at least we agree that Mitt Romney's priority wouldn't be move heaven and earth to get the SOB who killed 3000 Americans.
You got it right anax, They lie to themselves and treat science the way they treat their religion-like a cafeteria-pick and choose what you like and call the rest lies. Pretty soon we'll be like the Islamic countries where theology dictates to science what it can believe. The morons really don't understand the damage they are doing.
Great counter, bayllie!
Govt_Issue
Everyone garbles sentences now and then. But that wasn't Romney's problem with his "47%" remark. His meaning was quite clear: 47% of the American people are parasites, according to Mitt. It wasn't his grammar that was his problem. His big mistake was not frisking the busboys and waiters for cell phones before saying nasty stuff he wants only his other corporate raiders to hear. I'll bet the guy who threw the fund raiser for Romney doesn't forget the cell phones when he's throwing his orgies.
Alan in NJ -- Still waiting for you to make the case WHY Romney's team of BUSH neocons will be good for our country?
JOANNA Smith 1 -- You wrote:
When your opponent offers NOTHING of SUBSTANCE, wuddya gonna do? You're going to have a little fun with the FODDER he throws out. HA!
Looks like the regular LWNJs are already setting the stage for their arguments when their Deity Obama loses. Always nice to have a back-up plan.
John, Tuscon -- Deity? Surely you are delusional if you think Democrats look at Obama as anything other than a human being. Now go peddle your BS to those on the comment section at FOX. They eat that crap up.
Doc, Everyday people are getting more and more comfortable with Romney. If you read the article then you would realize that both candidates are dead even among likely voters. You may be rudely awaken election day. Hope its not the case, but you need to be aware.
Its pretty simple folks, if you want a socialist government controlled society then vote for obama, Vladameer Putin of Russia, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and the Castros of Cuba and oh yea I must not leave out the iranians, all are rooting for obama. They along with obama want to see America destroyed.

Obama/Biden2012
@Bayllie
...and lets be clear here. IMO the Iraq war was a mistake and I was, and am still against it. However, as to how it ended.
So tell me again what did Obama do that was different to what Bush negotiated?
As to Afghanistan neither side has a good story and the 2014 date does not mean the US is withdrawing.
As I said what is the difference between the two? I was responding to DCIA who is appalled that Romney has many of the same policy experts as Bush. I point out that the Bush and Obama foreign policy is very similar. Are you saying that Obama has a plan for negotiations? Is he waiting for a second term to begin them? Tell me what is the difference between the two?
On Russia and Europe what exactly are you trying to articulate? Are you claiming the Russia reset was a success? On Europe are you claiming that they are following the advice on the Administration because if so I would disagree.
On China, again, I do not see you articulate a difference in policy between Obama and Bush, so your reference to Romney's investments is irrelevant unless you are arguing that having Bush's advisers makes no difference because Romney will go his own way based on his financial holdings.
Because there is little difference between the foreign policy of the current Administration and the foreign policy of the Bush neocons. If anything Obama has pushed the neocon envelope further by his execution of an American citizen with no due process and his argument that the Executive can ignore the War Powers act as exemplified by his use of the armed forces in Libya.
Now, the next President can attack Iran, under the Bush doctrine of preemption, which Obama did repudiate, and has no need of Congressional Authorization if he prosecutes a remote attack due to the Libya example.
Thanks Backhouse for making my anti-depressant medication absolutely and totally ineffective this morning. I may have to call it a day. I'm pretty non-functional now thanks to your post. What an upsetting idea.
We've seen it before. In fact both sides have, historically, engaged in dishonest "ballot box-stuffing" of one kind or another over the decades and, of course, their justification is "Well they did it!" Which is no justification at all.
I wish the Justice Department would step in and get a Federal Court injunction in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, etc to have independent monitors on hand so supervise the vote count and take custody of the ballots once the election is over. But I know the right would scream bloody murder over that and the President would never agree to it because of the perception of Presidential interference in a "free" election. Geez, what a screwed up country we live in. Luckily I didn't toss my Costa Rican immigration information.
If we lose this election, we lose America, it's as simple as that. The GOP will be able to stack the Supreme Court with more conservative activist judges to the point we will never be able to trust a single issue they decide. How sad. How very, very sad.
Social Security and Medicare will be changed forever and probably become an even weaker benefit for those most vulnerable in our society.
We'll have the Christian version of Sharia Law. There will no longer be a separation of church and state.
And our country will be for sale to the highest bidders. The Manchurian Candidate on steroids.
What a perversion of the founding father's vision.
Well, back to what I was going to post.
The poll numbers nbc is quoting are meaningless because they appear to be NATIONAL numbers. The only numbers that count, thanks to our antiquated electoral college system, are the so-called swing states. You carry the three most important swing states and you're home free. It ain't right, but it's a fact.
NBC news that, why aren't they reporting it? Oh, yeah, they want to make it sound like a horse-race and get the electorate all fired up. Sell more advertising that way. It always comes down to the money.
So, dig down into those polls and look at the numbers for the swing states and forget about the rest of the nonsense nbc is spouting today. The devil is in the details, not the broad picture.
I heard someone reporting over the weekend (CBS?) that if the President is re-elected and especially if he loses the popular vote but wins in the electoral college, we will see a movement to significantly change or eliminate the electoral college all together and I think that is GOOD. If we go by the popular vote MY vote will be counted instead of ignored by the present system.
We also need to make ALL primaries OPEN primaries so ALL citizens, regardless of their party affiliation can vote for the candidate of their choice regardless of which party the candidate and the voter belong to. They'll have to send the marines to Oklahoma to force our state to change from the closed primary system we have now that disenfranchises nearly a third of all Oklahomans.
Thanks again backhouse, like didn't already have enough on my mind.
Obama/Biden 2012
"PROTECT AMERICANS' RIGHT TO VOTE" ???
Don't worry...those that have absolutely no idea at all of what is going on in this country or in this world and those who would not even be able to name the nation's current Vice President, have every right in the universe to vote....even if they have to be dragged to the voting booth kicking and screaming or after being awakened from a stupor.
Obama-Biden-Fluke....they're counting on those votes !!!
Well this Florida voter cant wait to cash his vote for President Obama.
Early voting starts October 27 to November 3. Vote early Floridians than grab a friend and get them to vote.
Gingerbread Mama...hope to see you at the Presidents rally in Delray
News Flash - Mitt Romney's opening statement at Boca Raton.
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
Satirical epilogue...
That being said, I will appreciate the votes of those 47% and the ill informed that are inclined to vote against their best interests." Winking at the cameras, "Remember your vote is your voice. If those 47% raise their voices and fail to vote for me, I might have to tweak the electronic votes, because they really didn't meant to say that."
I don't own a bible, nor am I religious. As for the rest of your comment I have no idea what you are talking about. Did you read that on a box of foil?
JoAnna -- He does run on his record, it's a matter of PUBLIC RECORD for all to see.
Only the right prefers to keep making "small" stuff BIG.
BTW JoAnna, you really can't put much stock into what those guys, you mentioned earlier say. Really.
Backhouse: I'm sorry, you sound like a conspiracy nut.
While I don't trust the Republican party to run our country, I still have hope that they would not literally steal the election through actual fraud.
poor libs like B White and Anxious (whatever your name is) are really quivering.
Obama can't run far enough from it. its like a bad Flock of Seagulls song or something
Hey Elliot, anxious like many far left libs think anyone who isnt far left is some religious bible thumper. I have no idea what evolution has to do with politics anyways. As for real issues we've been discussing them, its the lefties that keep Big Bird in the fray. Real issues is what anxious has
I meant
Now, the next President can attack Iran, under the Bush doctrine of preemption, which Obama did not repudiate, and has no need of Congressional Authorization if he prosecutes a remote attack due to the Libya example.
Look at all the liberals scurrying around in a panic. Romney is ahead by 6 pts (despite the MSM lies), and NOW you're all up in arms over a voting machine company. Where the outrage months ago when it was reported that the company owned by George Soros .....Obama's puppet master and #1 contributor to his campaign would be tallying ALL US VOTES....in Spain no less. That's something to be MORE concerned about. So go ahead liberals...push the issue and open that can of worms. Obama has been stealing the election for years in planning, but even if he wins he won't be in office long. When the story finally sinks in to even the most ignorant voters head they will understand why Obama will be sent packing for corruption throughout his administration. I wonder if there is a prison large enough to hold them all. We'll see.......
Three reasons Obama should not win:
1) Our economy is a wreck. Stagnant growth a $16,000,000,000,000 debt, when Obama promised he would reduce it to $5 trillion. We WILL be another Greece, only like a Greece on Steroids if Obama is re-elected.
2) Unemployment is very high and set a record for the number of months over 8%. If you believe what they tell you that it is at 7.8%, I have some swampland to sell you in Florida. Its below 8% because THEY DIDN'T COUNT CALIFORNIA IN THE CALCULATION (what the hell? Californias' unemployment is over 10%; this skews the numbers down in Obama's favor to help him get re-elected. Just more corruption. Additionally, many people had their unemployment benefits end or stopped looking for work and are not included in the total. Many companies refusing to hire due to Obama's policies is killng us.
3) This article from Thomas Sowell, tells you a little more about what Obama would do if re-elected:
*********
If Obama wins, "then the fate of America -- and of Western nations, including Israel -- will be left in the hands of a man with a lifelong hostility to Western values and Western interests.
President Obama is such a genial man that many people, across the ideological space, cannot see him as a danger.
For every hundred people who can see his geniality, probably only a handful see the grave danger his warped policies and ruthless tactics pose to a whole way of life that has given generation after generation of Americans unprecedented freedom and prosperity.
The election next November will not be just another election, and the stakes add up to far more than the sum of the individual issues. Moreover, if reelected and facing no future election, whatever political constraints may have limited how far Obama would push his radical agenda will be gone.
He would have the closest thing to a blank check. Nothing could stop him but impeachment or a military coup, and both are very unlikely. A genial corrupter is all the more dangerous for being genial."
Alan in NJ -- You wrote:
Which is exactly what ROMNEY WILL DO. As to the rest of your complaints I, too, am disappointed with some of the actions taken over the past decade.
Elliot and Ceasar and other morons, Just answer the questions- Do you think a party that engenders a distrust of science serves our country? You say you aren't bible thumpers- so what. Just answer the questions. Fact is you've got nothing but hatred going for you. Do your lives suck that badly? Try thinking about the future. You are just so narrow minded and short sighted. Its so pathetic. By the way without liberal thinking you would surely be dead. Any real change and progress made in the world was made by liberal and progressive thinkers-what a shock!
Ooooh, the lib hatred and vitriol is flowing at a terrific rate this morning; sounds to me like sombody's running scared.....and with good cause. Despite the poll conducted by Obama's media whores at NBC calling the race even, all of the other major polls - Gallup, Pew, Rasmussen - have Romney ahead by anywhere from 2 to 7 points. This is not good news for the Great Inept One!
alan3008,
He promised to cut the $1 trillion budget deficit in half not the $10 trillion National Debt.
The unemployment record is post WWII/Great Depression
And you believe Obama will not why? Do you not take him at his word that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon? We all want a peaceful solution but if the Iran continues downs the path of weapon development both campaigns have said they will use the military option. Again, very little difference.
ROMNEY'S CAMPAIGN SLOGAN, YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME...AND THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE I WANT TO SPEAK TO!!!
How can anyone vote for Misster Romney who has been on both side od the issues and back again so many times even Romney doesn't know what side he is on anymore. Romney just asks his crowd "What do you what me to say right now?"
Right now I'm for this, even though I wasn't for that, when I sad I was for that , what I meant was, I was for this, when I meant I wasn't for this or for that! If you're for this and you're for that, I am for everything and much more than that. As long as I get rich, whether for this or for that, in the end all I want, is all the money in my hat!
The MITT IN THE HAT!
Alan, NJ - If Obama were to win and he were to participate in a pre-emptive strike on Iran, I would completely agree that Obama is no better than Bush. I would be the first to speak out not only here but in the streets. However, I do not believe that Obama will do a pre-emptive strike. He is knowledgeable that rash, aggressive actions would cause a regional if not continentally engaged conflict.
I think the sanctions which have crippled the Iranian economy are working. Read a piece from Richard Engel where he states that in the last year the Iranian monetary bill (rial I think) has shrunk by 40%. The comparison is 36000 rials to equal one US dollar. Countries and even companies are disinvesting in Iran. The latest reports that Iran is willing to talk is proof that the sanctions are working.
Backhouse
My goodness, the Florida chads conspiricy is already in libbie motion! What Backhouse, are you beginning the run for a recount when Barry loses in those state?
So what if someone has an interest in a voting machine company? The machines are under the control of the Elections Department of those states in question, not the company who makes them.
It would appear that whenever you libs get together to talk about the next day posting, you throw out BS to move away from the events in this election. I would suspect that it's due to the inability of this president to present a valid vision for the future or the dismal record he's provided thus far.
Be afraid, for Barry is just about over. Tonight should be a "gas" when he begins to talk about the Arab Spring, the loss of life of four Americas due to a movie clip (right) and his reasons for providing funds to our enemies abroad.
You libs are getting off the wall with the trash you present.
And yes, Jen is the professional someone questioned earlier.
Alan 3008
Your first two reasons are good reasons to fire the Republican Congress since they blocked Obama's proposed second round of stimulus. Before Obama's first stimulus passed with 3 Republican votes in Senate, the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression was killing our economy (-8.5% growth, 800,000 jobs lost per month in 4th quarter 2008). By the Summer of 2009, the Recession had ended due to the stimulus.
On Obama's inauguration day, Republicans plotted to make Obama fail even if that meant sending millions more Americans to the unemployment line. Republicans deserve a pink slip from the American voter.
I, for one, plan to give Republicans the pink slip. They put Party first when America faced its biggest financial crisis in 80 years with complete disregard of all the suffering the recession was causing. The Republican Party has shown itself to be unpatriotic in our time of need. Now, they try to lie their way out of the dishonor they have brought on themselves. Sowell's lies also with no proof to back up his claim (he was an avowed 60's Communist who you now believe, really?)
Kick those Republican bums out.
OBAMA/Democrats 2012....because patriotism counts most in times of crisis.
Alan in NJ -- HUGE difference. Obama will use reason BEFORE might. He will not allow neocons to FABRICATE evidence for an excuse to put us in a war.
Romney hasn't proven he knows how to reason. He jumped the gun for political reasons on Libya. Not to mention that fact he was WILLING TO OUTSOURCE our foreign policy to Netanyahu. That speaks volumes on his ability to LEAD. You can't OUTSOURCE everything Alan.
Obama will use every means possible to avoid destruction BUT if necessary he WILL use MIGHT.
Hey Feisty Airhead, he can't, he's too busy releasing Fast & Furious records...uhmmm, ...........wait a minute, he isn't is he?
Feisty must work for the DNC in some capacity. It is too often she gets the first posting, wich would be hard for somebody who had a regular job. She couldn't have a "regular" job as she spends so much time here she would get fired. So, either she gets paid to post accolades about Obama, or she is a "1%'er" or a welfare queen. Which is it Feisty?
Yes, Elliot, she must work for the DNC in some form as it is too much a coincidence that she is first to post as often as she is.
You lefty libbies can spew all you want right here on MSNBC but nobody but your far left friends will read it. And we know that America is rejecting the far left in November. You better get off your rear ends and get outside and start stealing Romney signs. It is about all you have left.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Alan in NJ -- ONE other HUGE difference.
Obama isn't advocating to spend TWO TRILLION DOLLARS on defense items the military says they DON"T need.
This where I disagree. As I said Iraq was mistake concocted by an Administration with an agenda. A nuclear Iran would be an agent of destabilization in region that needs stability. No matter who is President, Iran will not get the bomb.
Hatred as you call me and others moron. Hey hows that glass house for ya? as for Evolution, Lucy is my greatest of granmdas and the earth I or II or proto Earth is pretty old, billions. Now I've answered your meaningless questions, do me a solid and answer one of mine. Do maggots get drunk when they bury alcoholics?
It has nothing to do with politics B White or Anxious but neither did your questions.
Let's get real. If Obama owned the voting machine company all of the right wingers would be up in arms and asking for a DOJ investigation. But, since they KNOW every effort will be made to give the votes to Romney though those machines, they don't really care. It is appalling how low the Republican party has sunk. They have no values; no integrity; no character; no morals - yet they will constantly scream about what great Christians they are.
It's a disgusting turn of events when they've decided they will get the White House at all costs to this country.
Obama/Biden 2012 - in hopes of dismantling the revolting Tea Party
ROMNEY HIRES 17 OF 24 BUSH/CHENEY ADVISERS. ROMNEY IS BUSH ON STEROIDS WITH MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES BACKING. WHERE DO THEY GO TO GET THE QUICKEST BANG FOR THEIR BUCKS? WAR!
That's right the warmongers for war profit would go to war as fast as they can because war is good business for the greedy 1% that are Romney backers.
Veterans and soldiers and families of them..BEWARE OF ROMNEY AND HIS WAR PROFIT MACHINE!
Haven't our soldiers and their families given enough to these war profiteers who lied the nation into Iraq war with fake stories of WMDs in IRAQ? OVER 4 THOUSAND OF OUR SOLDIERS DIED AND THOUSANDS MORE WOUNDED AND DYING BECAUSE BUSH/CHENEY AND ROMNEY'S ADVISERS LIED NATION INTO WAR! Romney hired these same advisers because the profits were so good.
VOTE PRESIDENT OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 STOP THE BUSH/ROMNEY WAR MACHINE!
Conservatives have nothing to offer in support of Romney. All they can do is criticize Obama. Go back and look at the comments above. Of course, that is what candidate Romney does as well. No specific programs, just generalities and criticisms of the opposition.
I don't care what you're against, I want to know what you're for.
JH -- Is that all you got?
Stealing signs? LOL
Well, the thing is, WHO would want a Romney sign?
You can keep your Romney sign as a reminder of who lost in this election, mkay?
For all the Obama hysterics on the board-
Today, Quinnipiac showed Obama ahead of Romney in Ohio by five points- a statistical tie, but a lead, none the less. So, what's wrong with their polling?
They've got Democrats +9.
In 2008, a Democratic wave year, democrats outnumbered republican voters in Ohio by SEVEN points, (based on exit polls, which are not, exactly, reliable), and by 5.2 points, when the voter rolls were reconciled to the votes cast. Obama, it should be remembered, won Ohio by only about three points- so all those extra democrats didn't vote for Obama, now, did they?
In addition, independent voters broke for Obama by eight points in 2008, adding to his margin of victory.
When you consider that polling indicates Romney winning Ohio independents by 8.7 points, AND that there is no way on this green earth that democratic turnout is going to exceed that of 2008, it's pretty simple to see that the Q poll is somewhat skewed.
I don't expect that most on this board understand how to do a regression model, but,if you did, you'd see that, if using the turnout model from 2008, the race between Romney and Obama in Ohio is tied- not statistically, but to the last decimal point tied.
If you use, instead, the predicted turnout model, you find Romney ahead by three points- a statistical tie.
I guess conspiracy theories are easier to learn than higher mathematics- but the math always wins.
Why in the world would we steal Willard signs when they give them away?
On the other hand Obama supporters BUY theirs...
Which would explain the rate at which they vanish!
WHY ROMNEY WILL ALSO SECURE THE ENDORSEMENTS OF ISLAMIC TERRORISTS
10 REASONS WHY ISLAMIC TERRORISTS WANT MITT ROMNEY TO WIN
1) President Obama's sane, measured responses to issues in the Moslem world work against their efforts to stir up trouble and portray the U.S. as the "great Satan". They see Mitt Romney as a knee jerk President, like Bush, that will over-react, to any terrorist attack, which is exactly what they are after.
2) President Obama has successfully and systematically targeted their leadership. Islamic terrorists were safer under a Republican administration. Obama has surgically eliminated most of the AlQaida hierarchy.
3) Mitt Romney will say and do anything for Israeli support. Even turn the other way to Muslim targeted hate speech and call movies that demonize Muslim religious figures as pedophiles, as acceptable vehicles for "free speech" ,without condemnation. This plays into the hands of those wishing to whip the peaceful Muslim majority into a frenzied mob. Romney sees no US action as needing an apology. Obama understands that Abu Ghraib, cluster bombing civilians, and missed targets are offensive to all world citizens.
4) Republican presidents invade, attack, destroy and rebuild the entire Muslim infrastructure in whole countries. Iraq and Afghanistan were rebuilt with US taxpayer dollars instead of using targetted and much cheaper methods to destroy terrorist bases. Having foreign troops on Muslim soil is a huge boost to Muslim terrorists as they seek to portray the US as Christian invaders. Obama uses surgical strikes and has pledged to withdraw our troops.
5) Romney's energy policy will continue to make the Muslim world rich and wealthy, causing a flow of dollars from democratic governments to Muslim monarchies, which, once overthrown, can put the money in the control of the terrorists elements. Bush/Romney's support of Saudi princes is preferred over Obama's support of Arab democracy, only if you're looking to overthrow a government monarch.
6) The availability of weapons is easier to come by in countries that are invaded by Republican presidents. The fog of war creates many opportunities for terrorists to obtain weapons that would normally not be available to them. The US military leaves behind much that can be used again. Republican administrations have been more than willing to negotiate deals with Iran, Iraq, and other unstable or despotic regimes in the past, just to further weapons sales. Reagan and George Schultz sold weapons, including stinger missiles that were used against our own aircraft, to Usama bin Laden in the 80s.
7) Romney will bring the war to the Middle East, rather than the terrorists having to try to hit U.S. targets. Republican presidents have ignored Presidential Daily Briefings that forewarned terrorist attacks against the U.S. In response, GOP presidents have decided to attack, destroy, and then rebuild countries that haven't attacked the U.S. with US taxpayer dollars, and GOP presidents have protected the hotbeds of Islamic terrorism, wealthy Arab countries that have produced the leadership for Islamic terrorist organizations, such as Al Qaida.
8) Islamic militants see Romney as a weaker president, someone they can dupe into making mistakes, miscalculations, and remarks that inflame the Muslim world to accept their point of view, that the U.S. wants to dominate and control them, and force western lifestyles on the Muslim world. Romney's remarks about the Israeli vs. Arab economies is just the right amount of racism and condescension that Islamic militants need to boost anti US sentiments. Throw in the Chicago dirty bomb comment, and anyone can see that Romney is a waffling idiot.
9) Islamic militants and terrorists see Romney as one who would weaken the US economy with trickle down economics. For terrorists, a weaker US is a better foe. Trickle down has never worked because even Romney invests his vast wealth in foreign, rather than US companies, and because it is a flawed economic policy anyway.
10) Romney has been critical of the Arab Spring uprisings. He's happier maintaining the Muslim dictators that the general Muslim public deplores. To that end, he helps the terrorist cause and drives Muslims to extremism to rid themselves of these dictators, while at the same time feeding into the idea that the US is the "great Satan", helping to keep the average Muslim family subservient to their dictators and monarchies. Romney will continue the age old US mistake of supporting the dictators and then having to intervene when they are finally overthrown because, face it, all people want policies of self determination and these dictators, while they may make good business partners, are lousy leaders.
NJNB is s science denier, who embraced Akins argument on medieval science.
Your ability to reason has been discredited for all time NJNB.
Feisty -- They have to give them away because it's the only way their minions know how to vote, by reading the names on a Republican sign.
No doubt the DoD is bloated but don't believe the military when they say they don't need something.
no joe: thanks for the cogent explanation.
The reality is, if the GOP had decided to run a candidate who was an actual moderate, instead of a partial moderate who, for political expediency became an "extreme conservative" (his words) there would be no question of who would be in the lead.
Many in Republican circles have to be questioning why Mitt Romney has not already closed the deal. We are two weeks away from the official election day, with early voting already started in many states and President Obama still has a lead or is tied with Romney in the states that Romney must win in order to become president. This is despite the attempt by the Romney campaign to paint President Obama as a failure, who can't run the country, does not have a plan, etc., etc. etc.
The real problem is that the country, including Republicans, do not trust Mitt Romney.
I don't Alan. I really believe the reason Romney wants to throw money at defense is because he doesn't have a legitimate jobs plan or a legitimate plan to grow GDP. The only thing Republicans know HOW to do is spend money on things we don't need. Thus. 11 Trillion Dollars of the deficit can be attributed to REPUBLICANS.
When the Republican leaning Main Mormon Newspaper in Utah says to vote for president Obama instead of Romney and when he is losing his home state by 20%. You should take notice Independents , Rhinos , and Hopefully some of you not in a comma Republicans. 80% of the world has a positive feeling about the United States and President Obama, compared to just 8% for Romney. Do not let prejudices dictate your vote, There is no sense of cutting off your nose in-spite of your face.
Obama/Biden 2012. Robme/Lyin Ryan we dont need pathological Liars in the WhiteHouse
Tin Foil Hats.......LMAO, WOW, such a deep and thoughtful statement. Personally, I'm not fond of tin foil, it does funny things to my teeth when I chew it, then I get in trouble when I shred it all over the house. Not sure why I get in trouble, looks nice the way the sun reflects off the pieces. It's a Dog's life. >:o): Woooof
To point out facts is not paranoia, nor does it mean the truth talker is walking in space. These are just deflections by a group completely terrified by truth. Truth will set you free......But true freedom terrifies them even more. Why??? Why do they respond to Love, with Hate??? Why do they respond to Peace, with WAR??? Why do they respond to Freedom, with suppression? Why do they wrap themselves in the flag, then wipe their a$$ on it??? Why do they hold up the Constitution, while in the same breath want to re-write it??? Why do they say 100%, when they actually mean 1%??? (clerical error?)
Considering the lack of substance from many of the posts, I won't bother going to the store for tin foil, or kool-aid..... I'm quite sure the right has already bought all that was available. Besides, like I said, tin foil hurts my teeth.
Ya don't need a weather man to tell you which way the wind blows, and I don't need LIES to sway the way my VOTE goes.....
Much LOVE n PEACE,
Da (Libblie) Pup
>:o): PurRrrRrRrrRrrRrRrRrrrrr

sorry, I missed it, bathroom break : )
No. It can be attributed to us. We are the ones who are not willing to pay for the government services we want. I have no problem keeping Medicare the way it is, just be honest as to how much it will cost. The same with local government where politicians buy off the unions by promising great pensions. Keep the costs down for current taxpayers and when the bill is due the politician is long gone. No different in Washington. SS and Medicare taxes from the past gone and we are the ones left holding the check. The money was was spent by the government of Republicans AND Democrats.
1 Reason why Pres. Obama won't win:
No one believes his lies anymore.
Except for Fiesty and her minions
Todays Republican is OK with Lying, They openly lie and the party faithful have no problem with it. Republicans is Romney for or against Contraceptives? You or I dont know the answer because he said yes to both. Is he for or against Abortion? again you and I dont know because he said yes to both. We dont know anything about this guy because he goes whichever way the wind blows. He has No conviction or spine. His own Mormon Faith Party in Utah has said to Vote for Obama, because they do not recognize who, what Romney is or Stands for.
Obama/Biden 2012 Because soon to be Seniors dont want no Stinking Voucher
I'm statring to think that the results on November 7th will look very siniliar to the results in 1972. And I'm not talking about reversing the parties results. I've said all along that the shellacking will continue. You lefties should have found a viable candidate.
And I mean no disrespect to George McGovern. It's just that the truth can hurt sometimes.
Romney/Ryan 2012
IndependentinSD - You guys OWN the top liar in politics, Mr. Bill Clinton. Romney is anti abortion, he does not believe in contraceptives, those are core issues with him. Will he prevent you or anyone else from getting anything that is legally allowed??? NO. What the hell is so hard to understand??? Please get some real talking points.
seeking sanity
Although Romney owns a large portion of bain, they are non-voting stock and also in a blind trust. The decision to purchase the voting company was made by Matt Levin, the mananging partner of Bain. Matt Levin is a democrat, avid supporter of Obama and an Obama Bundler. IF any one should be concerned about voter fraud, it's the Republicans.
And there we have the Democrat party platform's two most important issues for 2012...'contraceptives' and 'abortion'.
As if we don't have just a few, more important issues in this "land of the free and home of the brave".
Obama-Chuckles the Clown-Admiral Fluke---2012
feisty @ 1.82 -- as i am not able to spend many hours each day looking at posts here i have missed your statements on why obama deserves another term. would you be kind enough to post it again as i have a little time today.

you'll know when I need chill pill when I start talking about Billies and Teddies, remember?
Early Warning Signs of potential Collapse
Every-time Romney gets closer to Obama in a Poll the Stock market takes a Dive. Sounds like the Market has fear when Romney is talked about being POTUS.

I am convinced Chris, Dorr, MI and White Collar Auto are the same poster.
You're just putting all of us on, aren't you, mysterious poster with two names?
I think you are!
Alan in NJ -- Politics aside, we do agree on some fiscal matters. After a year now of our back and forth you know that. Ha. ; )
bayllie -- Keep on em". He likes to argue.
@DCIA and Bayllie
I think we are agreed that fiscally we're screwed. I really don't know how we climb back from this and any politician who is not calling for sacrifice is not telling the truth.
JH FOXBOT
Romney has stated he is FOR Abortion, He is FOR Contraceptives, He is FOR Employers telling employees what they can and cannot get in there Health Insurance, but then again you would not know that because you watch FOXBOT Noise. Ignorance at its finest
IMPEACH OBAMA THE LIAR

IMPEACH OBAMA
IMPEACH OBAMA IMPEACH OBAMA
Liberals Obama worshipers are in panic mode, when days before were celebrating the reelection of the Meshia. LOL
After the second debate, a win win for Obama according to Chris Mathews and David Axelrod , numbers in the polls do not reflect such a victory , so or either the media mislead or Romney is so strong that losing the second debate did not hurt his campaign, not even the most radical leftest poll can lie so many facts. The Obama's apearences in the View or Saturday night didn't help much other than gave him a new future in the TV Shows. the wind is blowing not in the direction that Obama wants, Romney as the momentum. In order to help Obama his administration is still leaking confidential information from the White House to provide some foreign relations credentials . I the meantime I m having fun reading those ridiculous post from the loser liberals.
Like this....
And every time Romney get closer to Obama the price of gas go down , and it helps to lower the cost of energy and transportation LOL

Latest Gallup Poll:
Romney 52%...Obama 45%
Obama birth control “babe” Sandra Fluke got fluked when only 10 people showed up at the Sak ‘N Sav in north Reno to listen to the alleged “slut” speak about all things contraception.
Allegedly Fluke claimed the low turn-out was just a fluke. Some in attendance allegedly backed up Fluke’s claims that it was just a fluke by claiming it was, indeed, a Fluke.
One alleged person even allegedly referred to the entire event as “fluked up beyond all recognition [FUBAR].”
Many in attendance felt like they had been fluked, since nobody allegedly received any free condoms or birth control pills, not even an IUD.
One audience member allegedly shared a horrific tale of being punished with a baby because they were not able to receive free birth control from the filthy rich (Republicans) in time to prevent the embryo from forming.
President Obama has vowed to continue the fight against the Republican’s alleged “War on Women.”
“I know you ladies would like to see me reelected as your leader,” the president allegedly said. Obama concluded, “Your lady parts depend on it.”
it's aways the biggest tree hugger fighting Obama cause form the back house at there Mommy's house lol
it's aways the biggest red welfare state fighting Obama cause from the back house at there Mommy's house lol
Jesus is mentally retarded for Repiggies. Oink Oink. We love those Repiggies.
Perhaps Romnesia, is exactly the cure we need, for the Obama-para-tenesis we've suffered these last four years.
Symptoms are; Parasites, sucking off YOUR tax dollars, crying that's it's not enough, and threatening to raise taxes on the middle, and upper middle class in order that they can get more of what YOU earn.
Mitt Romney is the antibiotic for Obama-para-tenesis.
So, on election day, check one Mitt Romney, and we'll call the election in the morning!
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012!!!!!
Load of Crap. When Ross Perot ran the 1st time the media and I mean ALL of the media said over and over again that Perot would only get 5% of the vote. Can you imagine ALL of the media saying the same exact thing? They said their surveys were accurate and stood by them. On election day Perot got 20 million votes or 19% of the popular vote. George Bush got 39 million and Clinton got 45 million/ of the vote. Here is the Problem. Never in recorded history was the ENTIRE media wrong by 400% on any campaign. This lowballing of Perot's popularity cost him the race. I was contacted by many many republicans that said if they knew he had a real chance they would have voted for him. Across the country it was the same story. The media had dictated the outcome of the presidential election. They are in the business of mass manipulation. They are in the business of keeping the truth from the American people.
Rooster...
What a very adult comment..."mentally retarded"...another holier-than-thou Democrat voter. Mr. Obama seems to have that market cornered.
ROMNEY FOREIGN POLICY PLANS...HIRE ILLEGAL ALIEN GUATEMALANS TO DO ALL LAWN WORK.
YES WHEN ROMNEY WAS CAUGHT TWICE HIRING ILLEGAL ALIEN GUATEMALANS THROUGH THE MORMAN CHURCH, HE TURNED THEM LOOSE TO WORK ELSEWHERE IN AMERICA!
Yes after being caught two times....instead of calling ICE to have them arrested and deported, the ol Mittster turned them loose to go work on someone elses lawn. Romney and son hired them to work on his lawn and his son's lawn. Millionaires TOO CHEAP TO HIRE AMERICANS! WHY DOES ROMNEY HATE AMERICAN WORKERS?...it's all about money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
starfalling: Obama hates Americans by promising amnesty. you have the most fact-less copy n paste posts of all the village idiots, thx for the entertainment. Will we still see half of you guys after the Romney landslide victory?
AHAHAHAHAHA!! It's nice to see the desperation coming from the left. You know it's over and it shows. All the time you all have spent trying to convince people (and yourselves) that you are aware of the countries problems and know who can fix them. You FR followers have been led by a complete moron and still worship her. You deserve to have your freebies taken away. Now sit back and watch how a real prez fixes things!

Bohl, have made direct contributions to the Romney campaign. This,
despite the fact that they represent 40 percent of the full board of directors
of a company whose independent, disinterested and studiously non-partisan status
in any election taking place on their voting machines would seemingly be a ‘no
brainer’.
To Mr. Bohl’s credit, after giving a total
of $4,000 to “Romney For President”, it must have occurred to him that it might
not look so good for a board member of a company whose voting machines are to be
a part of the presidential election to be playing favorites—so he gave $250 to
Barack Obama to sort
of balance the scales.
Mr. Tuch? Not so much.
Interestingly, Mr. Bohl lists himself as an
investor at H.I.G. Capital for his Romney contributions but his far smaller
donation to Obama was done as “Jeff Bohl, self-employed innkeeper”.
And finally, we learn that H.I.G. is the
11th largest of all the contributors to the Romney effort.
Did I say “finally”? My bad...because there
is, indeed, more.
Can you guess who is reported to have a
financial relationship with H.I.G. Capital
Numerous media sources,
including Truthout,
are reporting that Solamere Capital—the investment firm run by Mitt Romney’s
son, Tagg, and the home of money put into the closely held firm by Tagg’s uncle
Scott, mother Anne and, of course, the dad who might just be the next President
of the United States—depending upon how the vote count turns out, in our little
tale, in the State of Ohio—have shared business interests with H.I.G. either
directly or via Solamere Advisors which is owned, in part, by Solamere Capital,
including a reported investment in H.I.G. by either Solamere Capital or Solamere
Advisors.
Lee Fang, in
his piece for The Nation exploring the government related activities of
various companies in which Solamere has an interest writes-
"Meanwhile, HIG Capital—one of the largest
Solamere partners, with nearly $10 billion of equity capital—owns a number of
other firms that are closely monitoring the federal government. "
While the Cincinnati scenario is —at this
point—fiction, the rest of this story is all too true, including the part where
the voting machines to be used in Hamilton County will be those provided by Hart
Intercivic.
And while I am not suggesting conspiracies
or that anyone would get involved in any foul play here, most
particularly the GOP candidate for President, how is it possible that so many
people could exercise so much bad judgment?
The sanctity of voting in America is
supposed to be one of our most important virtues. So concerned are we with a
‘clean’ process that James O’Keefe has made a career entrapping, video taping
and destroying those sympathetic to Democratic Party candidates and causes who
cross the line when it comes to the voting process. And that's just fine. If Mr.
O'Keefe can legitimately expose someone engaging in voter fraud, he most
certainly should call them out.
So, why would these individuals who serve
on the board of directors of Hart Intercivic go out of their way to make a
contribution to any political candidate given the critical importance
of their company remaining above reproach when it comes to the political
process? And why would those who run the company that owns Hart Intercivic be
giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to a political candidate? And why would
a political candidate and his family have a financial relationship with a
company that owns a chunk of the voting machine company that will be counting
the actual votes given to that political candidate or his opponent?
Keith Olbermann was suspended from his job
at MSNBC for donating a couple hundred bucks to a local candidate that was a
friend of his. Why? Because his employer required that journalists at the
network stay free of having given such contributions to any candidate
for all the obvious reasons.
Is it really too much to ask that those who
control the voting machines that record and count the votes of our elections be
held to at least the same standard?
Hopefully, everything will go swimmingly in
Cincinnati on Election Day. And, if it doesn’t, it will no doubt be the result
of honest error.
Yet, because of this uncomfortable chain of
ownership, we now find ourselves with one more headache among the many headaches
that accompany the important work of choosing an American president and
believing that the process was a fair one—particularly when such an election
comes down to a very few votes as may well be the case on Election Day,
2012.
Really, guys. You couldn’t find anything
else to invest in? You couldn’t donate all those hundreds of thousands to
charity rather than put it into political contributions so that your fellow
countrymen would have no reason to ever doubt or question the results of so
important an election—or any election for that matter, even if it's the choice
of a county dogcatcher?
I truly wonder sometimes just what these
allegedly smart people have inside their heads—or, more importantly, their
hearts. And Fellow and Sister Americans, WE KNOW Rommel and EddiMunster are gonna rig the voting machines as they intend to rig Medicare and Social Security AND NEW WARS...And Some NAIVE Voters STILL want to vote for THESE CROOKS????
PhantomBeast makes it easy for you and lessons your suffering: Vote to keep Prez O in the Whitehouse as We need the guy; Hear That Fellow Men Voters????

The last Republican candidate for President, John McCain, called for a continued US presence in Iraq. He condemned the Bush deal you cite as something Obama should have been able to renegotiate. This has been the Republican line from what I'be seen and heard. While it is refreshing to hear that you opposed the Iraq War from the start (something I also opposed from the start), the Republican Party took the position that they wanted troops there after Dec. 2011. Obama stood firm in resisting this pressure and ended the War in Iraq.
As to our fiscal situation, I suggest you review the Clinton fiscal record. You will find that increasing revenues from tax increases on the investor class (who have huge sums of money from reduction of their tax rate which we only borrow back from them to finance the tax cuts they receive) and increased revenues from a higher growth economy can increase government revenues about $400 to $500 billion per year in today's dollars. Savings from lower unemployment can amount to nearly $200 billion per year. That is $600 to $700 billion per year right there.
After our economy returns to a higher growth rate of 3 to 4%, our budget deficit will be in the range of $400 to $500 billion per year which is about where Bush deficit was in 2006-2007 before recession hit. The Clinton defense budget for 2000 was under $300 billion. Now, it is $700 billion. It doesn't take a genius to see that a more peaceful, multilateral world can allow us to save almost half of our defense budget which now equals the rest of the world combined.
A balanced budget can be in our near future if we can grow this economy faster through added investment in infrastructure and job training (nearly 3 million jobs waiting for qualified workers) and if we can gain control of defense spending. There are other things that can also be done to reduce government costs and improve economy's efficiency that can insure that we have a bright and prosperous future.
I believe you need to stand back and try to see the bigger picture. Our situation is not nearly as dire as you think.
Colorado has now been assigned to Mitt Romney on RCP. There were a couple of other trackers saying this as much as one week ago. Score is now 277 - 261. That is probably not accurate, because Maine has one congressional district polling with Romney in the lead. You might see the Romney/Ryan Camp go to Maine if the poplular vote is close enough to come away with 2 more EC's. This would make Iowa, which appears to be headed toward Romney the last piece the ticket needs to seal the deal.
Giving the way the Romney camp has expanded to Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, they are looking for as many EC's as possible. Getting that will give them more of a mandate than just winning.
Let the record speak for itself, because Obama will NOT talk about his failed domestic and international policies...the Bower In Chief as he's known. The liberal regressive left (because they are ANYTHING but progressives) is going to get
After three years and nine months of Obama ... Here's your change. Another four years of this and we will collapse. But then again, maybe that's what Obama really wanted when he said he'd "fundamentallly transform America." Transform it from the ashes of internal destruction to some radical left wing neo-Marxist centralized government institution. Hey, all the communists came out and endorsed Obama over the weekend (Chevez, Castro, etc.), so maybe they know more than we know.

In the last three years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation's history. For an analogy, if you are driving in the right lane doing 65 MPH and a car rockets past you in the left lane that's 27 times faster, it would be doing 1,755 MPH - or Mach 2.05 at sea level. How's that for a visual? Think this deficit speed is sustainable? Not only no, but HELL no. Ok, I have read several posts calling republicans idiots... Ok, riddle me this, how can you excite a particle to the point of it turning into plasma? The answer of course, is either lasers, or strong electromagnetic forces(on the earth, not the sun, if you get something hot enough, you will turn it into plasma as well).
If you asked me how to make a portable rail gun, I could tell you, if you ask me how to make a powerful laser I could tell you, if you asked me what happens when you borrow more than you can afford, I can tell you.
It's amazing what you can accomplish with 6 trillion dollars. You could give 25 million Americans jobs that pay $50,000 per year for four years with that money alone.
The amount of money Obama has spent has only created a million or 2 (low paying, temporary) jobs. Where did the money go?
Who will pay it off? The middle class will. But not next term, or the next. But one day they will have to pay it off. When the US can't borrow and must find money, it will tax. A 40% or 50% tax will make the middle class vanish in a blink of an eye. Ever heard of Greece? What about California?
Of course, all the libs here don't care about the debt. If you can't see it, then it must be imaginary... That kind of sums up the liberal mentality. It's hard to see debt, because it is less than nothing.
You know what is less than nothing? What about how our current president has run the office in these past four years. We would have been better off with no president.
Can you all just wake up and look around. Look at what debt is doing to Europe. We are fortunate enough to have a wake-up call to prevent us from going down the tax-and-spend path. Yet some still do not see what's wrong with running trillion dollar deficits.
JustDFacts tells us that there are left wing paid bloggers here. Yet, I don't see Just D mentioning them by name or giving us any idea how much they are supposedly paid.
Since only a very small fraction of the population of the US (and a Canuck or two) are who we see on this blog what good would it do to waste money paying someone to blog here or anywhere else for that matter? It simply doesn't make sense. Is Just D a paid blogger from the RWNJ extreme right Fascist wannabes or just someone who is desperate knowing that he/she will have to eat some words come November 7th? Rush Limbaugh is not news JDF, he is an entertainer and quite hillarious at that. His lies and false indignation make him rich because of the idiots who listen and believe everything he says.

unoital...........DOESN'T KNOW ROMNEY THE LIAR. from Politifacts .com BIG LIE CAUGHT LYING!
After being caught the first time hiring illegals he turned right around and did it again!
No, I did not (have illegal immigrants working at his mansion)."
Mitt Romney on Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Hired help haunts Romney
Fending off an attack by Romney that implied he was soft on illegal immigration, Rudy Giuliani asked the former Massachusetts governor: "You did have illegal immigrants working at your mansion, didn't you?"
Romney's response was a flat, "No, I did not."
Oooops.
Romney did amend that statement with a vague ramble that homeowners shouldn't have to ask for the papers of anyone with a funny accent who is working on their house.
But he never corrected or clarified his initial response, which is barely true.
It's not as if Romney was caught off guard. Giuliani has leveled this charge before. It's good opposition research that comes courtesy of the Boston Globe. It broke the story about Romney's hired help late last year.
The newspaper sent a team of reporters to Guatemala after getting a tip that Romney had hired a landscaping company notorious for using illegal immigrants.
Reporters tracked down three former landscapers who claimed to have been in the United States illegally when they worked on Romney's lawn.
One of the workers, Rene Alvarez Rosales, said he worked for Romney eight years landscaping his lawn, occasionally getting a "buenos dias" from Romney himself. Others told the Globe of casual encounters with Romney over the years, during which he had never inquired about their status.
The Globe said Romney, for an entire decade, used a landscaping company that relied on illegal Guatemalan immigrants. Employees at the company, Community Lawn Service with a Heart, said its owner hadn't asked them to provide documents showing their immigration status.
The workers said they were paid $9 to $10 an hour, in cash, for working sometimes 11 hours a day.
When confronted by Globe reporters about the landscapers, Romney replied, "Aw geez," and walked away.
Mitt Romney and Foreign Policy should NOT be used in the same sentence because:
1.) Mitt said: "Bin Laden should NOT have been a high priority.
2.) Mitt said: "Russia is our "main" threat--not Al Qaeda. Clearly, Romney has NO IDEA what "Al Qaeda" is, or what countries are affected by, Al Qaeda. Romney "thinks" Al Qaeda is a person.
3.) Mitt said: "China is nothing more than a currency manipulator."
4.) Mitt said: "It was a mistake to pull our Troops out of Iraq. And that Obama is WRONG to pull our Troops out of Afghanistan." Funny, Clint Eastwood scolded "the chair" for still having our troops in Afghan still today.
5.) Mitt confuses "chest puffing" with strength and power. What Mitt doesn't know is that REAL POWER is never having to use it. Mitt doesn't get that; he just goes around blurting out any ol' thing out of his mouth like he did on his, "Silver Spoon World Tour" last August. WTF?
Tonight's debate will have Mitt once again venturing into unknown waters--Foreign Policy. He has surrounded himself with "Dubya's" flunkies. But what is IRONIC, is that Romney will attempt to "liken" President Obama with Dubya. And this is what everyone is watching for; Mitt's demise will be of his own doing.
Liberals, conservatives, and undecided moderates, lend me your ears. I come here, not to denigrate my fellow commentators, however much I disagree with them, but to lay out the choice in this election. This truly is THE election of this generation; if we make the wrong decision, we will have to pay for it, along with our children and perhaps our grandchildren. America is at a crossroads in history, one of the few times that it has ever been at one and one of the few times that any civilization has ever encountered. The choice that stands before us is between two different views on the very nature of our great nation.
On one side, we have a so-called "Marxist Socialist" view that believes in equality of opportunity and collective sharing. This side believes that we as a nation are stronger when we work together, and that all people must contribute fairly to every endeavor that this country makes, whether it be deficit reduction or investments in future ventures. This side argues that a nation cannot continue to cut taxes for those at the top and expect a windfall; that is like thinking that reducing punishments for breaking the law will decrease crime levels. This side also argues that we must invest in the things that made our country great, like education and R&D and infrastructure, and that we cannot ignore the voice of the many for the dictates of the few. This side, representing many on the left, a few on the right, and a great many in the center, argues that we cannot live in a laissez-faire economy; that supply-side economics did not work in the past and will not work now; and that we as a people need to change our nation before our nation changes by itself. This side argues that we cannot congratulate ourselves on being the wealthiest nation on the face of the earth while boasting the highest poverty numbers in the industrialized world; that we cannot expect that other nations will accept when we blast our imperialist horn and ravage an entire region for our own selfish needs; that we cannot keep spending on defense as if it was World War II and redistributing wealth towards the very rich as if we were in the Gilded Age. We must not fail in this endeavor, my fellow Americans, so that "[this] government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
The other side, the side opposing the one mentioned above, definitely have good intentions. I do not doubt that the leaders of that side love America, and that they only want the best of this nation. But unfortunately, their side is merely repeating the same policies of almost administration since Ronald Reagan; and unfortunately, the American people cannot survive on good intentions. This side continues to sell to the American people, without doubt or hesitation, that all of our nation's problems can be solved with little to no pain, and that all we need to do is to encourage the "job creators" to create jobs and grow the economy with tax cuts and less regulation. All they ever propose in response to an economic crisis is tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, and more tax cuts for the wealthy. They continue to believe that the wealthy are the drivers of economic growth; not the middle class, not the working poor, not the employers and laborers and consumers who actually produce wealth and create demand; just the wealthy. And when they do say that Americans must suffer for the good of the nation, they never use the word "all." Whenever they want to start a war or expand one in some godforsaken land, they do not call upon all Americans to sacrifice for their country; instead, they delegate the task to a small portion of the population while buying off the rest of us with tax cuts that many of us never get and persuasive propaganda. Whenever they talk of reducing the deficit or cutting waste or reforming the government in any way whatsoever, they do not call for equal sacrifice or equal expectations; instead, they target vital social programs like Medicare and Social Security, food stamps and unemployment insurance, Medicaid and education, all to pay for extravagant tax cuts for the elite and increased spending for a bloated military that we don't even need. And whenever a daring person, liberal or conservative, young or old, politician or civilian, tries to call them out for favoring only the elite and calling for an end to the reverse-Robin Hood policies that have nearly destroyed this great nation, they denounce them as communists or anarchists and accuse them of instigating "class warfare." Another great man once said: "Let we warn you, and let me warn the nation against the smooth evasion which says, "Of course we believe all these things; of course we believe in social security; we believe in work for the unemployed; we believe in saving homes...but we do not like the way the present Administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us...we will do more of them we will do them better; and, most important of all...[they] will not cost anybody anything."

NOW.
"Romnesia"....LOL. That's a real knee slapper! You got any BINDER jokes? Is that what you people are left with? Big Bird, Binders and Romnesia? What a pathetic bunch of depressed groupies you are.

CANADIAN SOVEREIGNTY vs. US
American voters might not see Canada as being central in our Foreign Policy Debate. Canadians beg to differ!
Rick George, author of 'Sun Rise: Suncor, the Oil Sands and the Future of Energy' thinks that Keystone XL is a "double-edged sword".
"While it will boost this country's crude oil sales to the United States, it also will bind Canada more tightly to the U.S. market. This prospect brings some inherent dangers with it, yet I rarely heard that discussed in the exchanges between the two sides."
If Canadians see our relationship as being uncomfortably "binding", than perhaps President Obama and Governor Romney should debate our foreign energy policy, with regard to our northern neighbors.

Obama's stimulus saved our economy from the downward spiral (-8.5% growth in 4th quarter 2008, 800,000 jobs lost per month). It produced 700,000 immediate jobs in construction and saved 600,000 jobs in schools, police, and fire departments across the country. Due to the multiplier effects of aid to the unemployed and an extra 1.3 million directly employed, it is estimated 2.5 to 3 million jobs were created and saved by the stimulus.
This stimulus saved our economy from a longer and deeper recession that may have continued to spiral downward into a Great Depression with millions more lost jobs and thousands of additional failed businesses. The stock market's value may have even plunged lower (below the 6500 bottom it hit in March 2009) and many more homes would have been in foreclosure lowering real estate values even lower than they got, imperiling banks with even more bad debt, which undoubtedly would have required another bank bailout.
That Republicans say it failed is an outright lie, one that they seek to perpetuate to this day.
Obama saved us from a mush worse recession than we had. This past recession ended in Summer 2009 proving the stimulus worked. Republicans tried to block it, but fortunately it passed because it saved many of us from losing the fruits of our life's work. Republicans don't care about the regular working guy or the small businessman. They only care about winning at any cost, so they can have the power to reward their rich buddies.
OBAMA 2012....for a fairer, better future for the American worker.
Nice neat little scenerio but there is one problem with it. Of the 9 people who sit on the board of Bain Capital, 8 of them are registered Democrats. The CEO, President, and both Vice Presidents who have operational control are registered Democrats. So you think a bunch of Democrats are going to rig an election for a Republican. Ok, makes a good novel but that is about it.
"Republicans don't care about the regular working guy or the small businessman."
As our Vice President 'Chuckles the Clown' would say...'that's a bunch of malarky'.
Republicans "are" regular working guys and small businessmen...the majority of whom do not have "rich buddies".

That's a lie- they have no future- that's why there are so many immigrants to the US from those countries. They have no motivation or ambition to do better because there are no rewards. Why don't you move there if that's what you want? The US is by far the BEST country in the world.

What do you call a Republican woman who is barking up the wrong tree? Stinkee barker.

Would you care to share your source for political party affiliation of Bain's Board of Directors as it is not required in SEC filings and is generally something the public cannot know?
No, Feisty, we couldn't give a sh*t less who you really are. The real question we keep asking ourselves is how anyone could be so utterly stupid and still have 300 followers, as you boast about. Maybe you are like some of the stupid kids I remember in school. Everyone pretended to be their friends and then laughed their asses off at them behind their backs.

Why did you name your blow-up doll 'Republican' ???

Feisty Dumbfux still doesn't realize that it's people like her who tilt people over toward voting for Romney. Her and unstable, spittling liberals like Crazy Larry O'Donnell. Let's all watch his show and see if he's back to using that fake Boston accent again. Or maybe he only uses that when pretending to be a tough guy and challenging other grown men to fights on TV (although the audience is only a couple hundred). What a tool.
Mitt Romney demonstrated in support of the Viet Nam war. He wanted war, he just did not want to have to serve in it.
The chickenchit ran off to France and hid. He avoided the draft under the guise that he was serving a religious "mission". If you are stupid enough to buy that sack of horsechit I've got a bridge to nowhere to sell you.
Mitt Romney the liar, the fraud, the cheat, the chickenchit!
"."!
bigdogg-it is a Romney family tradition to support American wars; they just don't want to fight in them or pay for them. They sure do like the idea of them, though. And who are his foreign policy advisors---leftovers from the Bush administration. That foreign policy, combined with his tax cuts, almost brought us to our knees.
Damage123
so you are saying that the Romney voter ignores Romney and bases their decision on what Feisty has to say???
you do realize that he was born in Boston and graduated from Harvard, right? I live in Mass, are you going to say that I have a "fake" Boston accent, too?
hey, Tagg Romney is nothing more than the guy who threw his shoe at Bush. But I see you are ok with Tagg Romney disrespecting the office of POTUS on the radio but you are so "outraged" with Lawrence O'Donnell picking on that little punk Tagg Romney for being a loser?
It seems to be a family trait, violence, for the Romneys. Hit/shoot first, and to hell with later.
Only trouble is they NEVER put themselves in harms way. The trip to France is only a small part of Mittens cowardous nature. To be a BIG BRAVE MAN, he had others, (his gang) hold a kid down so he, the big man, could cut the kid's hair(An ACT of TERROR). Mittens made sure he was never in harms way, but loves putting others in the way of HIS harm.
All I can do is offer Blessings of Love n Peace for the Romneys, though I'm afraid they do not understand their meaning.
Much Love n Peace All,

You libbies are hysterical. A month ago it was nothing more than, this disaster of a President is going to be re-elected because the liberal biased media is, and has been on full spin cycle against Romney 24/7. Now you're conceding that Obama is not going to win and are already coming up with excuses. H.I.G., by the way is Harvard Investment Group, a very reputable entity that is not owned or controlled by Romney or anyone else outside the majority shareholders, who I know. They're not all GOP I can tell you that.
You're already making a case for voter fraud. Look, Obama has arguably the worst record of any President in history. He has NOTHING to stand on other than his, getting old now, one liners about Romney, his taxes, blame bush, yada, yada, yada.
Obama was put in office by the media and those who just wanted to be part of history by putting a novelty act in office. Now these same "kids" are out of school and working a McDonald's while trying to pay off their school loans for their college degrees. They won't make that same mistake twice.
brew...
I think it's "voter fraud" when the voter is not able to correctly spell his or her candidate's name without somebody there to help solve that mystery. And said "voter fraud" will be running rampant two weeks from tomorrow !
obozo is not even qualified to be a dog catcher must less the commander in chief. all he can do is try an act like a comedian and frolic with those other dumbocrat entertainers. HE IS PURE PATHETIC.
You can't really tell if he's truly 'pathetic' until you've seen his visit to the Jay Leno Show later this week...that's how a truly serious American evaluates his or her vote...by the laugh meter on the Leno or Letterman show or the gag meter on "The View".
Backhouse, your comments on Romney/Bain/H.I.G needs to spread, all social media networks.
Your right, where is the media on this, why are they not be watched, this should be opened to the public, have the media watching the count, what ever it takes to make sure we do not have another Florida disaster, because if this ends up in the Federal Supreme Court, we all know how that will end. Gore/Bush all over again.
The best of times, the worst of times.....
My first Presidential campaign work and vote as an idealistic 20-year-old was for George McGovern in 1972. At the time, I was a senior at one of the State Colleges in central Pennsylvania -a very conservative part of the state. So conservative, in fact, that despite the fact that it was 1972 - the era of Vietnam, the draft, Kent State, the Equal Rights Amendment and Watergate - politics on campus came in a distant third behind frat parties and football (and our football team sucked!), the county "campaign headquarters" fit into one long room in a storefront down on Main Street, and we had a hard time filling up one bus to go up to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area to hear Senator McGovern speak one beautiful fall morning. I spent Election Day handing out campaign literature at one of the polling places - well, okay, mostly standing around holding a stack of campaign literature that no one even wanted to look at. I had forsaken my usual favorite "hippie wannabe" look (bell-bottoms, desert boots, lovebeads - the whole nine yards!) to dress nicely, and as shy as Ialways was (and still am), I was eminently polite, respectful, and non-agressive about it. Still, at best, I was ignored; at worst, Iwas sneered at, cursed at, and berated - most notably by one elderly gentleman who spent the better part of an hour telling me that I was a dirty no-good godless communist baby-killing un-American traitor to my country who should be in jail and that my parents must have thrownme out of the house because they were so ashamed of me. In retrospect, it makes the daily attacks we see on this board seem awfully tame by comparison. Petty, childish insults hurled from behind the anonymous afety of a keyboard? Big deal. What else you got?
But I digress. For someone looking at their first chance to vote - thanks to the voting age having been lowered from 21 to 18 - someone who had grown up in the era of JFK and "Ask not what your country can do for you" and dreams of joining the Peace Corps.....someone who saw her ideals and hopes for a better world crushed one after another by the assassinations of John then Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King.....someone who didn't take off her POW/MIA bracelet for years in the hope that "her" guy would still some day come home.....someone who had to drop out of the church she'd attended since grade school after witnessing their racial bigotry and opposition to integrating their local school district.....someone who'd spent that summer trying to convince the "older" women (in their 30's and 40's?) she worked with that the ERA would actually be a GOOD thing for them and their daughters.....someone who saw that indeed, "The times, they are a-changing" and only wished the change would come faster.....well, let's just say it was quite the experience. Especially sitting in the near-empty "campaign headquarters" later that night with a small handful of other diehards and watching what I recall as the first red vs. blue electoral map turn almost solid red, as Richard Nixon easily won everything but Massachusetts and D.C. It was utterly inconceivable to me that night - and still is today - that so much of my country could be so blind and so abysmally wrong. And it was little consolation - though at least some vindication of my beliefs - when first Spiro Agnew then Nixon himself were forced to resign within the next couple of years. Looking back with the usual clarity of hindsight and 40 years perspective, again - it makes all the hysteria surrounding THIS election and whatever the outcome turns out to be seem awfully ridiculous by comparison.....even though I often get that same sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as I wonder how 40 years later, so many of my fellow Americans could now seriously think Mitt Romney is the better choice for president. I just don't understand it, and if I'm still around 40 years from now, I probably still won't.
But again, I digress. George McGovern obviously never had a chance that year. And any chance he did have was lost in the sad fiasco surrounding his choosing and then being forced to abandon Thomas Eagleton as his running mate. (I wish FR would re-post the link to that mini-documentary they ran a couple months ago; it was fascinating). But at the time - after so many of our other hopes had been destroyed - he offered the best chance that I and the others who saw the world the way I did had at the time. Over the years, I've pondered the "coulda/shoulda/wouldas" of that election year over and over again in my head. I only wish I had known back in 1972 that 40 years later I would be fighting so hard and so proudly to re-elect Barack Obama - a man who has not only fulfilled all the hopes and dreams I thought I had lost back then, but has given me new faith that the future America that I once envisioned with George McGovern is still possible.
George McGovern was both a gentleman and a gentle man. And I will forever be grateful to him for helping me to become the person I am today. I literally would not be HERE today if it weren't for him.
Thank you, Senator. Considering that it was the worst of times in so many ways, it was also one of the best times to be alive and involved. I don't regret a thing.
Bravo, JoAnne. ***stands and applauds***
Thanks for sharing those memories. I wish I could say that my journey away from the Republican party had started before that election but the Nixon experience did plant the seeds.
It is nice at our ages to be excited about a Presidential candidate and actively giving our support. If anything, with the perspective of history you mentioned, I feel even stronger about President Obama than ever. He is the leader to take us forward into this century, not back to the last one.
JoAnn, I too worked for the McGovern campaign even though I was still too young to vote. I was still in high school, and stood out in front of the polling station in Media, PA on that cold November day handing out flyers and trying to engage voters. I am proud to say that I have always been a lefty liberal, in part because of McGovern's brave, flawed campaign and his devotion to the vision on America as a place where everyone has a chance to live the Dream.
Obama is certainly the man to take this country forward and restore fairness and opportunity for everyone - not just the wealthy who profit much from all America offers and give nothing back.
Obama/Biden 2012
Jody,
Excellent post. I can relate to the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach, I get it every time I see a Romney commercial or listen to him speak. It is so obvious to me that he would say anything to get elected and has no core convictions.
I respect the political beliefs of my conservative friends, but I struggle to understand why they would support or vote for a faux conservative like Mitt Romney.
I thought after the 47% speech became public that surely most of Romney's supporters would turn away now that his "true colors" were exposed. Instead they made some lame defense of his despicable words.
I truly do not understand why anyone with half a brain would vote for Mitt Romney.
JoAnne, cheers! Excellent post. I remember those days so well; remember my fiance' and I's first election which was Nixon's second attempt to run. I remember how we were determined to listen to every single candidate who came to town before casting our very first votes. I, too, was a McGovern fan--what a great man he was then and throughout his life. Rest in peace, Mr. McGovern.
Ahh, the 72 election. I don't remember if I voted then. Hadn't been back from Vietnam too long and was still kinda messed up. I do remember getting most of my news from an underground radio station in Berkley because the MSM never quite got the news correct.
It is amazing how different America looks when one is on the outside looking in.
Hey, Holly - small world! I've worked in Media most of the last 35+ years and will never forget coming out to the courthouse here to register to vote that first time. If you're still in the area and ever see a car with an official Obama campaign bumper sticker flanked by one that says "We Work Hard and Pay Taxes So Mitt Romney Doesn't Have To" and another that says "Cats For Obama - 28 More Years!", give me a honk and a wave!
JoAnne, Beautiful thoughts from a wonderful woman.
Thinking back to that time, I wasn't yet a citizen, but had an interest in politics and wondering how Richard Nixon could have been re-elected. I remember the bumper stickers on cars from MA stating, 'Don't blame me I live in Massachusetts" or the other one ' I voted for McGovern'. Later, when the whole sordid Watergate scandal blew open, Nixon had to resign in disgrace and many of his administration went to jail, I often wondered how many regretted their vote. I also believe we would be a different country today if George McGovern had been elected, he was the epitome of a good person. He was a true American hero, raised in poor hardscrabble circumstances, son of a Methodist minister, he fought bravely in WWII as a pilot. Came home resolving to help make a difference in peoples' lives, his gentle nature stood out in the political arena, he was much admired and respected by both sides of the aisle. For me, he will always be a symbol of goodness, gentleness and dignity, traits I see in our present President Barack Obama, who like George McGovern, will always try to do the right thing for all the people. To this day, I can never understand, how the voters choose Nixon, let's hope the voters are a little more discriminating in their choice this election and choose Barack Obama.
To the McGovern Family, may you find consolation for your great loss in knowing George always tried his best to do the right thing. May he rest in peace. Well done good and faithful servant.
America has had two completely authentic politicians over the last fifty years: McGovern and Goldwater. Say what you will about their policies, they told you the truth EVERY DAY. I have always respected both very much, although my views lie closer to McGovern's, the soft spoken war hero who loved peace. It is worth reflecting today upon what two truth telling icons would think of Romney the weather vane. There is something so Nixonian in Romney. But America has always been intrigued with those that hit hard with questionable accuracy. I'm sure tonight Romney will attack as if everything violent or dangerous in the Middle East is Obama's fault. He will insinuate again that Obama doesn't love his country or won't protect it. If we do elect Romney, there is an excellent chance that torture will ramp up and that the military industrial complex will convince Romney to fight some more stupid wars to thwart the results of democratic elections that we don't like. Romney is that guy. He is politically expedient - which means the people around him with questionable ethics can win the day if they convince him there are more votes for something completely immoral or even illegal.
JoAnne - Wow. Thank you for your words and sharing a bit about that 72 election. Glad to see you are still finding inspiration in the good fight. Let's hope Obama wins because I have a creeping fear that a Romney win would set us back. Not only would he set us back in social policy for decades but his SCOTUS choices would ensure those ideas for decades. Romney's plans to privatize the safety net and explode the deficit while bad in and of themselves will weaken our economy. His juvenile and blustering views on foreign policy could lead us into another war like the one that you opposed all those years ago.
I'm happy to be voting today. Early voting finally begins! Going after work.
Obama 2012
Jody, so do you think Obama could stand up and repeat the famous John F Kennedy line today without getting laughed out of the room? What part of any policy proposal that he endorses from social policy like Sandra Fluke to his economic policies would fit not violate his Ask not what your country can do for you? Admit it, Obama's policies are actually all about "Ask what your country can do for you?"
JoAnne - great post and wonderful tribute to someone who always had the country's best interest at heart when he ran for office.

We have all the Libtards present this morning.. Stinky Redhead, Ron From Indiana, Bev. From Chicago, and steeler fan... Hope you libtards have a big ol plate of crow to eat come election day. You stuffed suit will loose by at least five points nation wide. The Benghazi disaster will not go away, and will haunt Dumboma to the end. It will be the blood of the four Americans that brings this president down, and it should be. We can no longer trust our President to keep us safe. He is truley more concearned about who he may offend in the Muslim world, than protecting citizens of the United States. Disgusting!!!!
.
I disagree, i say .........................!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah....that's really easy for you to say, but I'll give you credit for sticking your neck out that much.
This whole article is BS. How can it be tied when Obama leads in almost every swing state? Are they trying to ensure the left votes, by giving false information, or trying to be proactive before the right steals the election like they did with W?
Obama's true self is finally being exposed. I think Romney will win in a romp.
Diamond 60
That you believe Romney and Republican lies is apparent. Romney will lose because I believe the majority of American voters are too smart to buy Romney's etch-a-sketch candidacy and his mountain of lies. Romney conned investors at Bain to make millions. Romney had one of the worst job creation records in the nation as Governor of Massachusetts. Romney lied over and over in his campaign.
I have never seen a more dishonest candidate than Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney seems to be genetically incapable of telling the truth.
OBAMA 2012
Take a look around. I think the gap is bigger then you think. A drive through any city will reveal more Romney signs in peoples yards then OBUMMA. By at least a 2:1 ratio. But then again....if your wanting OBBUMA then you're walking around with your eyes closed.
In the progressive states that pay more federal income tax than they get back from the government, Obama is going to win by an average of about 12%. Obama will win by around 20% in the state where Mitt was Governor - you know that state where Mitt takes credit for the rising sun and the ocean breeze (and where he made it 47th in job creation). Every place where Mitt has lived (other than Utah) is going to vote against Mitt.
On the other hand, in every state where the educational levels are well below the median, Romney is doing great. So if he wins, I guess the earth will officially be 7,000 years old.

No more 44...gotta show the bum the door!
Chuck Todd's vision is skewed towards Advert dollars, and the media needs a race to sell ads.
Alas, for those who simply observe, and are not selling things, there is no race.....
As it has always been, using the National polls to paint any kind of picture is simply naive.
Note this: This election already over. And there is really only one story to tell......Read it Hear First, cuz First Read won;t see it:
Early Voting is the story:
The race is over. All you have to do is vote.
Given early voting, Romney needs to win 55% of the remaining vote in Ohio.
This is, for practical purposes, impossible.
He needs 59% of the remaining vote in Iowa.
And about 56% of the remaining vote in Wisc.
In sum:
Obama will be our President for 4 more years.
How about some facts to back it up.....oh there are none.....Just as bad as the rest of the "POLLS". Just guessing...and guessing wrong. I guess there are some out there that will believe you without facts. Typical OBBUMA supporters.
Wow, I wonder if we will actually hear a great debate, or just another Dog fight between two children, throwing mud, stretching the facts and in some cases just really show what polictics is like by out and out lying. I guess we can always Hope
It is not a real debate until viable 3rd party candidates are given equal time to tell the American public how they would fix the country. These so called debates are candy coated to the repubcrats without ANY substance on how they will fix the country. I can sit here and tell you, "if you vote for me I will fix everythingwrong in your lives. i cant tell you all the details until after you elect me!". I want details NOW. I want a republican congress that is NOT beholden to Grover Norquist. I want Harry Reid to actually vote on ALL bills passed by the house. I personally am voting for Gary Johnson. He is the only candidate willing to give his plan to fix this country, before being voted in. It is not required by law to only vote democrat or republican........YET!!!! Wake up America.

Robert - your post has no merit. There is no thrid party candidate who has proved to be noteworthy. When there is - a third party would be welcome. Find someone who can talk intelligently about the issues; rev up a base; get backing; THEN there will be a 3rd party candidate.
Until then, voting for anyone but a Democrat or Republican is wasting your vote.

17 of Romney's top foreign policy advisors come directly from the Bush administraion. Obama needs to hit on that all night.
Romney has not been elected yet ! All Mitt really needs is a good sit-down with Condi Rice who has more knowledge in her pinkie than Obama does in his head !
i wonder if obama is going to lie about creating jobs tonight.
...again.
I dont have to wonder if Romney will lie tonight, that is a foregone conclusion.
I do wonder which lie will come first, perhaps the "Obama apology tour" that never happened?
President Obama doesn't have to lie about creating jobs tonight--he has created over 5 million in the wake of a near depression.
What has Mitt Romney done? He sure didn't create jobs in Massachusetts or raise income levels--few jobs and incomes dropped. Romney even outsourced MA state government jobs to India.
Obama/Biden 2012. Forward with 4 more for 44!

It all depends if he is asked if the jobs he created were in the USA or an other country...
Follow The Jobs
A Record Of Failure Spanning The Globe
Over his four years in office, Obama promised that he would focus on creating "jobs that pay well and can't be outsourced." However, as he racked up trillions in new debt, billions of dollars did go to create jobs that were outsourced or spent overseas. Whether it is electric cars made in Finland or solar panels in Mexico,
Taxpayers would be astonished to learn that their hard earned money went abroad for jobs that weren't created in the United States.
"And I will invest $15 billion a year in renewable sources of energy to create five million new energy jobs over the next decade - jobs that pay well and can't be outsourced; jobs building solar panels and wind turbines and a new electricity grid; jobs that will help us eliminate the oil we import from the Middle East in ten years and help save the planet in the bargain. That's how America can lead again."
President Barack Obama, October 30, 2008
Tracing Obama's Overseas Investments
Electric Cars
Obama handed over billions of dollars in loan guarantees and stimulus awards pursuant to his goal of putting one-million electric vehicles on the road by 2015. Much of that money ended up leaving our shores. A $2.4 billion stimulus program to support battery production sent nearly half of its money to foreign firms, including two South Korean companies that used their awards to hire foreign nationals in Michigan to do work that Americans easily could have done. In the end, despite all the money Obama handed out, electric vehicle sales have lagged and The Washington Post deemed his goal of one million electric cars "overly optimistic."
Wind Farms
Obama's stimulus included over $8.5 billion in grants for wind farms that flowed overseas, despite Congressional criticism from both sides of the aisle. In total, over half of the money went to either foreign developers or foreign wind turbine manufacturers, creating thousands of jobs overseas with money that was supposed to create jobs within the United States. Even worse, hundreds of millions of dollars went to wind farms that began construction before the stimulus was passed. The end result of all this spending: the wind energy industry lost 10,000 jobs last year.
Manufacturing TaxCredits
As Obama was doling out over $2.3 billion in clean energy manufacturing tax credits that were supposed to create jobs in America, $880 million went to foreign firms. Worse still, some of those same recipients are now closing up shop and shipping jobs overseas.
Loan Guarantees
Remember Solyndra? The problems with Obama's loan guarantee program don't end there. The largest recipient of Obama's program to jumpstart green energy projects was the Spanish Company Abengoa, which took in $2.7 billion in loan guarantees for three of its projects. Other projects importing foreign-made solar panels are, much in the same way as Fisker Automotive, choosing to make their products overseas.

Republican policies drove the country into recession. Economists will gladly tell you that unemployment always lags behind in a recession. Why? Businesses see sales declines before they know they must lay off workers. Governments also see revenue declines before they decide they must layoff workers.
Initial estimates for 4th quarter 2008 growth were -3.5%, then by Summer 2009, they were revised to -8.5% growth. In early 2009, individual businesses realized they had a really bad 4th quarter 2008, many seeing drops in sales of almost 10%. That is when they laid off workers. Governments saw revenue decline as well and in Spring 2009 as they were preparing to balance their next budget to declining revenues, they knew the $200 billion they received from stimulus would enable them to avoid massive layoffs (although when stimulus money ran out, they laid off 600,000 employees).
It is deceptive to look at the job losses in Obama's first six months as it was the recession in 2008 that propelled these layoffs. Over 5 million new jobs have been added to our economy since the job losses from the Bush recession ended.
OBAMA 2012......he saved us from a longer, deeper Great Recession despite Republican obstruction.
Jobs have been created otherwise our country would be in a worst condition than it already is. What it takes to get this country going again is just the opposite of whats going on on this web page. People should be working together to solve problems not creating problems. When you have American companies shipping jobs overseas and then the same companies and government say it's all the foreign countries fault for the jobs going there. It's not China fault, It's our countries fault. We let them do it. In fact, Corporations don't give a f------k about us at all. Not only companies and corporations, but our own government don't give a f------k. If they did it would have been stopped long before Obama became our president. Poor people can't invest in the stock market. The rich damn well know that. I don't care that the one percent are rich. But what I do care about is that they don't want some else to be successful. They want all the money for their self.
Now, all these rich people who have moved all their money in offshore accounts and keeping their business in a foreign country. So now they don't pay U.S. taxes anymore. But they still want us poor and middle class people to buy their products and pay taxes. They still want us to pay our medical bills and have health insurance but hell how can we do that if they keep shipping our jobs to another country. It won't matter who's in office if this keeps happening.
Keeping jobs in America keeps our country strong, because then corporations pay the tax they supposed to. No one should be able to offshore money, that just not American. That's just as a crooked as hell. You wonder what's wrong with America it's just greed. Selfish people who can never have enough. More money more money, is all they think about. The same thing happen to many empires throughout history and this greed caused them to fail. Not one corporation or business had to move to china. The Chinese did not say come to our country and start a business here or we're going to kill you. In fact, it was our government and corporations who approached the foreign governments first. We've been sold out it's just as simple as that. We have traitors in our midst. They have abandon our country for greed and power and the poor and middle class will be there slaves, Color and race will not matter. I ask everyone have you ever saw a politician who told you the truth. I don't know a truthful politician myself. Romney's lying, Obama lying and hell why would you want to believe any politician.
Al last , if the American government and the American corporations don't want to make our country the best country in the world, then get the hell out for good, so the poor and middle class can become successful again. Just like we did when this country began during my great great great great great grand fathers time in the year of 1740. Our ancestors built this country with there backs and our hard work. They were not that educated then but the poor never gave up, not once. They took pride in their work and we still do, we still carry the freedom torch of our ancestors. The American workers are the best workers in the world. I believe that with all my heart. If you don't believe it just look how other countries around the world copy everything we do. They copy our military, business, cars and everything we produce. Then Our corporations give them the jobs. Traitors to the American people. Hitler would have been proud of them. Everything that our ancestors fought for is down the sh-- t hole because of greed. Not because of the poor or middle class people, they won't lets us pay our bills because they keep shipping our jobs to other countries. Now that's just UN-American!!!!!!! That's why people are losing there houses and everything else, because we lost our good jobs, not because we were lazy. Sold out by our government and corporations. tingdongle ma. In Chinese that means do you understand. O, I'm not Chinese I'm an American who has had to leave his country to have work. I'm writing you from China now. That's how I know us Americans are getting screwed in more ways than one.
Timesrunning out leaves out the real facts.......
HERE IS A FACT STORY YOU WILL NEVER SEE ON FOX NEWS! ASK YOURSELF WHY NOT?
REPUBS CAUSE THE ECONOMY TO GROW SLOW, THEN WHINE THAT IT IS NOT GROWING!
RYAN SABOTAGES THE ECONOMY. REPUBS BLOCK BRINGING OFFSHORE JOBS BACK TO AMERICA.
REPUBS DO THEIR BEST TO MAKE AMERICA WORSE!
From dailykos.com 9/6/12 by keepemhonest Story : MAtt APPUZZO FACT CHECK THIS.2009 PAUL RYAN PLOTTED TO SABOTAGE THE ECONOMY.
So, allow me to educate Matt Apuzzo with real facts that really led to the Republican's plotted obstruction to guarantee legislative cluster-f@ck.
FACT 1. In Robert Draper's book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives" Draper wrote that on inauguration night, 2009, during a four hour, "invitation only" meeting with GOP Hate-Propaganda Minister, Frank Luntz, the below listed Senior GOP Law Writers literally plotted to sabotage, undermine and destroy America's Economy.
FACT 2: Draper wrote the guest list included:
FACT 3: Newt Gingrich confirms meeting took place in an interview with Al Sharpton's Politics Nation on June 12, 2012
FACT 4: Two months after Paul Ryan's covert meeting where they plotted to sabotage the US Economy, in March 2009, Rep. Pete Sessions said Republicans should follow the model of the Taliban in its battles against President Obama.
In the March 2009 interview with National Journal Rep Sessions said:
Rep Pete Sessions went on to say:
FACT 5: Also, at the January 20, 2009 meeting they plotted to suddenly stop supporting any Stimulus Legislation, even though, they all supported Bush/Cheney Stimulus legislation.
FACT 6: Remember, these same Republican members of Congress supported the very Bush/Cheney policies that caused America to teeter on the brink of the 2nd Great Depression and caused the 2007 US Economic Meltdown.
And these same Republican members of Congress:
Not only did these Senior members of Congress plot to destroy the American Economy more than it already was destroyed? They actually carried out their mission:
FACT 7: Last year, during the Debt Ceiling negotiations, Eric Cantor and Sen. Jon Kyl abruptly walked out of negotiations and refused to renew discussions with Democrats. As a result, America's credit rating was lowered which put a smile on Republican's faces.
FACT 8: Meanwhile, the 2009 Sabotage the U.S. Economy covert meeting members, Senators: Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, Tom Coburn, John Ensign, and Bob Corker have:
FACT 9: The House members who attended the 2009 Sabotage America meeting have been busy rejecting legislation that helps victims of natural disaster.
FACT 10: Paul Ryan and these other same failed Congressmen have been on tv constantly chanting the lie that they were guilty of ... the lie that "President Obama's policies undermine the US Economy."
There are more facts listed...but I think you get the point. repubs obstruct for the greed of money and for their own party to benefit from the greedy rich!
Well, possibly - he might lie about creating jobs - since the topic is foreign affairs, he will have to say that he created jobs in foreign countries.
OBAMA To Medvedev of Russia: "THIS IS MY LAST ELECTION. AFTER THE ELECTION I CAN BE MORE FLEXIBLE..."

Care to cite your source for this quote? Also, I noticed that you cut quote off in mid-sentence. Context of quotes is important. Romney campaign actually took a line that Obama quoted McCain as saying in 2008 campaign and turned around and claimed Obama said it about himself.
This is how lies are created and perpetuated. Full quote please plus date and source, so the fact checkers here can verify its accuracy.

President Obama Asks Medvedev for ‘Space’ on Missile Defense — ‘After Election I Have More Flexibility’
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/03/president-obama-asks-medvedev-for-space-on-missile-defense-after-my-election-i-have-more-flexibility/y Election I Have More Flexibility’
Media, in your polls both sides have hope? In the real world I don't want a president elected by a socialist media who thinks this is to their benefit. I hear what people are saying from their own intellect not bias media BS. Wonder what illegal crap your gonna try to pull before election, it's laughable cause your cat is out of the bag!
Ron Paul
How much you wanna bet, Obama will be on his own tonight without any help from the moderator like he did in the last debate??? We saw what they did for him in the first debate...
And the loser shall blame the moderator...
Two Harvard Grads, worth millions, with a staff of dozens preparing them for a 90 minute discussion, and we have heard the whiners on the right and the left cry about the mean moderator who let the other guy win...
How pathetic is your candidate if you feel they can be undone by the moderator?
Both sides have used the excuse, and both candidates have looked like petulant children and argued the "rules".
They're relatively even, just like the Cardinals and the Giants. It's the rubber match before the big series. At least there's "No crying in Baseball..."
I think my candidate did rather well debating 2 people, plus the questions from the liberal audience...
It was the only thing that helped your candidate. He won't have the same help this go around...
And who is MY candidate, Mr. reading comprehension?
Try reading it again slowly.
Dangerfield---I think you are wrongly equating the Democrats and the Republicans over the debate moderators. I wasn't crazy about the job Jim Lehrer did because I wanted the moderator to hold both candidates' feet to the fire on tough issues. That said, most Democrats put the blame for the President's performance on the President--he didn't bring his A game.
On the other hand, I have yet to hear a Republican put the responsibility for Romney losing the second debate where it belongs--on Romney.
And I'll bet you $10,000 that Romney will make some comment about the debate rules tonight--he seems to be unable to avoid that.
Johanna-Steeler Fan
Well, you certainly can't find any evidence that you complained.
How many of you scrub all of your previous comments?
Steeler Fan-380417
Pretty funny you saying that Romney blamed someone else....
What has obama taken responsibility for (besides killing OBL, which we all know he did not do... the great CiC had to be pulled off the golf coarse to even be in the room to watch it go down).
obama has blamed everyone and everything for ALL his short falls, so don't even try to blame Romney for it.
Times, you have your story wrong. Read and learn.
Without the help from the moderator and a teleprompter??
Recession is when your neighbor loses his/her job
Depression is when you lose yours
Recovery is when Barack Hussein Obama loses his!!!!
Steeler: You're upset because Romney wants to play by the rules. That sure says alot about the way you libs think. And I do agree with others about the liberal hack who moderated the last debate. She would jump in and answer on behalf of Obama because she saw him standing there with nothing to say. That won't happen tonight, especially when we hear more details about how many more important things he had going on at his high prices 1%er fund raisers in Vegas, then our Ambassador being raped, beaten, tortured and killed. Then he blames it on a video when the entire world knew it was a terrorist act. And then he makes Hillary stand up and take the bullet for him. Yeah, I want him to be President.
Fear, hate and intimidation is firing up the conservative base. I've heard about as many Romney supporters in the past year as I've heard people who's native language includes clicks.
NOBODY in this country wants his as POTUS, the best thing going is that so many don't want to reelect president Obama. This stradegy didn't work so well against Bush Jr. I expect the same result this year.
BearDown: American's SHOULD be full of fear if President Obama is re-elected. It will be another 4 years of the same. Mega high unemployment, mega high taxes, Obamacare that sucks, more on food stamps and in poverty and lest we forget Iran will get Nuclear. No way I'm voting for a repeat of the last 4 years. My vote is for Romney.
How this can be even close is baffling to me.....................sad

Does anyone wonder why American companies go bankrupt or move? How about a tax policy that gives tax cuts to companies that export jobs? It is in the books and the Democrats have tried to repeal it twice. The republicons filibustered them twice.
If you want a job in America you had better vote for someone who will fight for your job. Solyndra went under not because they had a bad product. Their solar panels are better than the Chinese models. Solyndra went under due to Chinese dumping. That is why the Democrats are now hitting the Chinese with 25-36% penalties. The Democrats are trying to protect your jobs while the republicons are trying to export your jobs. Just ask the people in Freeport, Illinois.

Very good post there, Times....
That is the dumbest list of all times. No facts, no truth, sourced from Fox if at all. You wasted your time. Run out of toes?
America’s Middle Class
From the article above:
Perhaps someone on the right side of the aisle can tell us all what jobs the Governor is going to create.
The Governor has promised 12 million new jobs for Americans.
What kind of jobs are those Governor?
Are they good paying jobs of $25 to $40 per hour like our President is creating?
Jobs that couples can raise and support a family with?
Or is the Governor want $10 per hour jobs to keep Americans poor and struggling.
That's more than likely what the Governor is proposing.
I wish the Governor would tell Americans.

Does it really matter? No matter who wins the immediate result will be the delegitimize the results. Probably by making an argument of ballot box stuffing or trying to enforce voter ID laws which naysayers will claim disenfranchise voters.
I am officially sick of this thing. Lets vote already!!!
I already voted........for President Obama and democrats!!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012. Forward with 4 more for 44!
Jody - for the first time EVER I will vote a straight ticket - straight Democrats. I cannot tolerate what the Republicans are tying to do to this country. It is truly frightening that so many people either don't understand or just don't care!

Maybe that's why the polls you're being shown are so "close".
Consider, Romney trails Obama by 20 points in his home state of Massachusetts, the largest margin by far of any presidential candidate in history, at home. Also, last week the Salt Lake Tribune in Utah, the Mormon capital of the universe, refused to endorse Romney saying "Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear."
And yet polls say the two are tied? Really? So maybe the Murdoch-owned polls are just keeping things "close" for appearances.
Remember, the GOP can only cheat if the vote totals are close, anything else might look fishy...This party and its operatives have no morals, no pride, no honor, no integrity.

How true, amigo.
The GOP can only win elections by stealing them.

The voter suppression efforts by the GOP---thinly disguised as they are---are an embarrassment to us all. Coming from one of the states leading the way, I am ashamed. The GOP can't win on ideas and enthusiasm so it wins by cheating. And it seems proud of it.
Republican Voter Suppression Nationwide
Arizona: County mails wrong Election Day notice to Spanish-speakers.
Florida: Republicans scam seniors with bogus "vote by phone" calls.
Ohio: Republican defies court order by slashing early voting hours.
Virginia: Republican arrested for illegally trashing registration forms.
Voter suppression is the AMERICAN way.POLL TAXES kept the poor from voting, women weren't allowed to voteand there were laws to keep BLACKS from voting until 64 and 65. Americans have tried keep some people from voting for many years.
For those of you who are new to this site, please don't believe the spin from the regulars. Roomer has it that many of them are paid bloggers from the Obama campaign (Feisty Redhead may in fact be Jen Psaki). Their objective is clear, "Our president has no record to run on and has no plans for the next four years so we need to paint Romney as someone you should run from." It won't work. Mitt Romney is a good man. Heck the President even said so during the debate. Undecided voters or any voter for that manner are not concerned with Mr. Romeny's tax return or his tenure at Bain Capital. We are concerned about jobs, the fiscal cliff, and the defecit. Governor Romney has the right plan at the right time and he has demonstrated he can reach across the aisle and work with the Democrats. Obama has alienated everyone is Washington. He really isn't interested in being President. He would rather go on Letterman, Leno, or the View than work for the American people. We can't afford another four years of this. Time for a change.
How's this for a record?
For starters, Obama prevented a depression, ended one unnecessary war and is in the process of ending another, saved the US auto industry, gave us all healthcare, improved foreign relations, killed Bin Laden and doubled the DOW. The deficit is coming down and so is unemployment, despite Congressional Republicans best efforts to sabotage this county.
What's Romney's record?
Nobody knows because he won't talk about it.He only talks about his stint as governor when he needs a lie.
He won't talk about Bain Capital at all, and he still hasn't come clean on his tax returns.
And no one has a clue about any of his positions or policy ideas either. He's flipped on virtually every position at least once, and his policy plans boil down to "I might tell you later".
Meanwhile he trails Obama in his home state of Massachusetts by 20 points. And just yesterday, the Salt Lake Tribune (in Utah), Mormon capital of the world, refused to endorse Romney, and instead endorsed Obama.
It seems the people who know Romney best are trying to tell the rest of us something.Even Ryan's home state of Wisconsin is now leaning toward Obama - that and Ryan is now trailing in his own state race to keep his House Seat. (Has any politician ever lost two races in the same day?)
Oh, and as far as Obama, here's a couple hundred more things he's done, with citations:

We really can't afford his lavish vacations, his wife's expensive undies and other non-classy clothing, his golf rounds, his basketball trists, his publicity as a "cool" guy. Cool guys don't belong in the White House.
I am anxiously awaiting tonites last tournament of having to listen to obummer lie about what he's done and that his "grandfather fought in WWII". That's an out and out lie, proven by the records.
I have heard rumors that there is going to be marshal law set down if obummer doesn't get back into office, has anyone else out there heard this, and what are the real possibilities.
Chris, I have seen the name Jen Psaki in a few comments. The others said that she is the poster Feisty. My question....who is Jen Psaki? Why would we care if they are one in the same? Would really appreciate your clearing this up for me.
I saw her on TV last week, it looked like one of her eyes was bigger than the other. This is often the result of severe head trauma. That would explain her posts.
3 Reasons why Romney will win:
1. He is not a communist.
2. He has held a real job.
3. He is not Barrack Obama.
PURE RACIST RANKS DEVOID OF REASON:
POLITICO
FACTS: “DO BUSINESSMEN MAKE GOOD PRESIDENTS.”
“Since the start of the 20th Century, only three President
have been voted out of office after a single term. All three, Herbert Hoover,
Jimmy Carter, and George H.W. Bush, were businessmen. It isstartling but truethat GDP has grown 45 times faster under
Presidents with little or no business experience than when these businessmen
were in office. The Presidents who had the best stock market growth, FDR,
Eisenhower, Reagan, Clinton, and Obama had essentially no business experience.
The Dow has gained 16.8% per annum under Democrats with no business experience
and lost 3.7% per year under Republicans with business experience. It is not
clear why having business experience makes you a bad President; most likely
there is no correlation between the business experience of the President and
his performance on the economy.”
So Dr., it looks like what you are saying is community organizers who have lived off the taxpayer make better presidents. I am more worried about the direction of this country than what the stock market will be doing.

Want truth on this POS rent the movie 2016 and if that don't scare the hell out of you nothing will.
3 reason why Romney will lose...
1) He cannot explain his exact position on ANYTHING
2)He could not even run a State
3)He is Mitt Romney (biggest factor)
Obama has moved the country 'BACKWARD'
Confused Voter-
I can see why you are confused.
President Obama has moved America FORWARD.
It's the GOP that is the cause of the nations woes.
Salud
Racking up over $5 trillion in additional deficits in under 4 years sure as HELL is not moving "forward" ... particularly when Obama said he would cut the deficit in half during his first term.
But keep playing the blame game ... it is all you libs truly can claim as your own.
Do "Community Organizers" make good Presidents?
No.
Does someone who thinks 47% of the population are parasites make a good president or a good Human being?
No.
Does 'someone' who makes 47% of the population into parasites make a good president? By the looks of the economy, no. Apparently a unexperienced, clueless community organizer makes a poor president and a one termer too. Looks like we're having another business man as president. Experience in something is much better than no experience at anything.
Does a Lying Romney deserves to be a President?
No but the real honest Romney will be president, not the Romney you desperate, idiot, lying liberals are trying to portray him as. Saying Romney is a liar is like saying Obama won the first debate. America just isn't that stupid. If anyone wants to see a real liar, take a look at all the broken promises Ocrap'O made in his 2008 campaign. It's that simple.
Its over for you Liberals. Face the facts, One and Done is your Bozo president. Keep writing your lies and thoughts. Get your crying towels ready cuz you will need them when Obozo and Bozo get the boot.

taunting and name-calling...4th grade recess is over. come and talk with the adults when you can behave.
Hey first read. I know this is your first time covering a Nat'l election, so I'll be brief.
Your analysis would be pretty sharp if we ever switch from a Electoral Vote election to a popular vote one.
Tell me if it get's "tight" in the EV predication, because right now Obama has it almost sewn up. But, I know you guys gotta get readers and clicks and stuff be pretending its "Tight" and "real Horserace". But, next time just add a Yeti sighting to your analysis. It's a much more likely scenario than Obama losing to Romnesia.
That is interesting since 95% of the country has not even voted yet.
You do know what they say about assumptions right?
arent you libs ashamed or at least embarrassed that all you have is catch phrases and childrens tv characters? seriously wtf is wrong with you people? can any of you dopes tell the rational people here what obozos plan is for the next four years other than to stay the course and forward?
Uncle Henry
At least Obama campaign's ads targeting low information voters tell the truth. Romney's ads targeting this group just lie and distort reality. Romney's medicare claims of $716 billion taken from Medicare are false. The CBO and other experts say they are cost savings over 10 years.
Romney also lies about Welfare's work requirement. The new work requirement requires a 20% improvement in job placement.
OBAMA 2012.....for honesty in government.
And to Quote Mitt Romney:
This is brought to you by the Letter 'O' and the number 16 Trillion

Check the "Archives" link at the top of the page. First Read started back in 2006. While the comments unfortunately aren't saved that far back, here's the First Thoughts thread from four years ago today during the 2008 election:

Obama's "pension fund" is worth more than Romney's, the one he claimed "wasn't as big as yours." Obama also has assets managed by a firm in the Cayman Islands from when he was Senator in IL, the "most globally invested fund."
