GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Former President Bill Clinton took supporters here on a stroll down "fact lane" Friday night, passionately making the case that economy is well on its way to recovery.
"People don't feel it yet. I get that. The deficit was going down three years in a row before a majority of the American people would say 'Ya, it's going down.' People didn't feel it," Clinton told a crowd of more than 2,000 people. "And the damage was much deeper this time around. I'm telling you, we are coming out of this, we are moving in the right direction. If you stay with this policy and you stay with this president and you elect Tammy Baldwin, you will feel it."
The comments come one day after GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign jumped on Clinton's remark that the economy is "not fixed."
At a rally late Thursday, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan said he agreed with the former president, and used it as an attack against the current administration's economic record.
But in remarks that lasted nearly one hour, Clinton was careful to say the economy is not "hunky dory" but stressed that the nation's economy was on the mend.
In recent weeks, Clinton has been one of President Barack Obama's most active surrogates, headlining rallies in nearly all the key battleground states. His appearance here at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay was also in support of Democratic senate candidate, Rep. Tammy Baldwin. The high profile race in the Badger State has gotten plenty of interest from outside groups who have poured millions into advertising in the state, to which Clinton warned supporters to "follow the money."
The 42nd president was particularly critical of the Super PAC Crossroads, run by Karl Rove, a former aide to President George W. Bush. "You all remember Karl Rove, don't you? Now he was part of a great economic record," Clinton said to laughter. "He's out there plugging for Gov. Romney and plugging for Tommy Thompson, and if you liked the economics of the previous 8 years, you will just love what they do. You gotta follow the money sometimes, folks."
Clinton also used his trip here to reflect on some of the pleasant memories from his own time in office, even briefly addressing his legacy. "When you have more yesterdays than tomorrows, there are only 3 things that matter: Are people better off than when you quit than when you started? Do children have a brighter future and are things coming together or being torn apart?" he said.
"The rest of it is all background music."

Obama/Biden 2012
.
Mitt suffers from Romnesia -
keeps changing his positions,
how can we trust him;
Mitt also suffers from Amnesia,
not only forgetting about 8 years of Bush,
but also conveniently failing to mention many recent good economic data.
.
we are better off than 4 years ago.
And Obama suffers from socialism. I'll take amnesia any day.............
Well Obama has a laugh from his speech writer and hours later the idiots on this board are parroting it.
Pathetic.
And that it is. Slow and steady wins the race. I trust my President. Could Grover Norquist get his fat piggy nose out of the way and could those that signed his "pledge" get back to honoring this country and not signing their votes to some little man?
I trust the President. I believe in his plan. I don't thing Mitt Romney has the American public in mind. He and Ann want to be Will & Kate and wave from a balcony. We fought for our freedoms from that. Reminds me of when the promised came out of Egypt and then when back to seek their idols. Mittens thinks he is an idol.
I don't.

Have you heard about McDonald's new Romney Meal
I forgot what I ordered.. No I ordered this.. oh wait, no I ordered that... NO I REALLY Ordered that... 1 week later, I never said that I ordered that. Do you take payments from China?
Clinton is right and OBAMA is clearly the RIGHT choice for America.
Let's face facts vote for Obama and grow the economy or vote for Romney and well be in another what they call it a bad recession again can't anyone remember 07 and 08!
You trust the president? He's added over 5 T in debt. He's enacted a socialization of medical care that will cause mass layoffs. His energy plan has DOUBLED gas prices because he won't let people drill on public land. He's made it tougher on businesses by adding onerous regulations. The Fed is printing 40B a month for an "unlimited" amount of time. Our dollar will soon crash. We're in a depression that can only be overcome by massive austerity, yet he's borrowed trillions more. The country is on coarse for a massive economic disaster, but you "trust" him? At least Romney believes in free market principals. You know, the free market principals that made America great, and the ones the president ignores on a daily basis. You're an ignorant person.
Before you blame Obama for unemployment or the economy in this country - and before you consider voting for R & R - Google: "Bainport IL," and take a look at RomneyWorld . . . .
170 American jobs, out-sourced to China, and the Sensata plant closed, despite 3rd Q net profits of $500,000,000 - $500M is apparently not enough.
why? greed. instead of paying American workers $17 an hour, they can pay Chinese workers .99.
Romney owns 51% of the stock in Sensata - he reported $800,000+ profit from Sensata on his last tax return.
the town council sent him a letter asking for help - he never even bothered to answer.
This is what a "Romney economy" (God Forbid) would be like - the rich getting richer, and the 47% suffering even more.
DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Then VOTE! O & JOE - YOUR JOB DEPENDS ON IT!
I think the Romney/Ryan slogan should be "Let Them Eat Cake."
It is - Queen Ann's Welsh Cakes, burnt to a good old English Crisp.
...but Queen Anne have forgot that people can't afford cake because of the Bush Depression. Queen Anne suffers from Annesia (amnesia) vs. Mitt's Romnesia - what a couple!
.
A depression started with bank failure is always harder to fix...remember Great Depression of 1929 did not end until 1945 after WWII.
.
so maybe, we can start a war with Martians???
Obama came into office trailing a pathetic, incompetent George W. Bush. Even before being sworn in, Obama was taking the reins and doing the job.
The Republicans have tried to wreck this country even as the President was working on our behalf. I must admit that Obama's efforts were short of the makr - he should have plumped for a far more robust recovery plan. But he did his best, and saved the nation, and the globe, from a far worse situation that would have followed if he had done nothing, as the Reeps wished.
I think the GOP is a cesspit. It has swung far to the right and is worthless.
The President needs more time to work on the problems imposed by GOP ideologues. He needs a Congress that is not divided against the nation. VOTE DEMOCRATS in November.
Pigotry, I voted you up.
However, the "let them eat cake" line is attributed not to Queen Anne, but Queen Marie Antoinette. Her statement actually meant not that people were foolish, but that cake was easier and less wasteful of flour than bread. The people were rioting about lack of bread. Those riots occur today too.
With an Obama win in Nov, followed by trickle-down(bush tax breaks for wealthy) ending dec 31st I'm more optimistic than ever the job market and middle class is finally going to blossom in the coming year! I think college graduates are going to get that chance to use their talents that have been blocked by republican policy's the last 12 years.....this just might be the extinction of the dinosaur party(GOP)as we know it, that has only brought us war, debt, and jobs shipped overseas.
Obama/Biden 2012
Pigotry & Layton--- I'm with you , the economy IS getting better, and as President Clinton said... not EVERYONE can feel it yet, but as you said Layton, "slow and steady wins the race". President Obama himself said, "it will take more than two terms to fix everything that is wrong in our economy" he ADMITTED THAT, in his first year in office! It just disgusts me, that some of the people in this country, either don't, can't or WON'T remeber that, they just blame him for things not moving along FAST ENOUGH. Well I'd like to see some of the complainers DO A BETTER JOB, with the sh--pile that our President was handed! Not to mention, the TOTAL non-cooperation that he has gotten from the House of Representatives. How can ANYONE DO ANYTHING, with that kind of STONEWALLING going on? I'm sure you both remember Senator Mitch McConnell saying, ( with Eric Cantor & John Boehner standing RIGHT BEHIND him.) " it is our NUMBER ONE PRIORTY to make certain that, Barack Obama is a ONE TERM PRESIDENT." So they laid their agenda out for the ENTIRE NATION, right then and there, WE ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP THIS PRESIDENT! HOW can anyone, BLAME THE PRESIDENT for that kind of bald faced obstructionism? And don't you on the right YELL, "that the Dems. had control of both houses for his first two years!" They HAD A MAJORITY, but they DID NOT.." HAVE CONTROL." I just hope that all of you who support Mr. Romney and MR. Ryan, have a WHOLE LOT OF MONEY, because if they are elected, you are sure going to NEED IT, to live on, because you sure won't have Social Security anymore, and you can also say BYE BYE to Medicare. How do your parents and grandparents feel about that? Unless of course, they have a WHOLE LOT OF MONEY too. Trickle Down economics DOES NOT WORK, it has NEVER WORKED, and it WILL NEVER WORK. I believe in President Obama, I think that he has our country on the right path, and that despite all of the efforts of the STONEWALLERS, that he will do HIS DAMNDEST to move this country FORWARD, not backward, we CANNOT AFFORD to move back! And I'm sure that there are alot of women out there, that can agree with that, not after the fight that women have had for the last 50 years or so, to move out of the kitchen, and into the workplace, to have a career, husband (if they want) AND A FAMILY, TOO, I am not about to go back to the days of, BAREFOOT AND PREGNANT! NO WAY, but if the Republicans have their way, that's what will happen. They are already trying to dictate our reproductive rights, and whether or not we are "entitled to contraceptive coverage in our insurance plans". Not to mention equal pay for equal work, of course they would prefer us NOT TO WORK, never mind the fact that almost ALL, middle class families REQUIRE TWO INCOMES, just to make ends meet! Typical mysogynistic attitude.Too full of themselves and what THEY THINK IS RIGHT, to see beyond their own noses and pocketbooks.
WOW! What a statement! I can't believe that some people prefer to go back to the policies of George W. Bush, instead of continuing on thte path of recovery with President Obama.
Where do you get your information that he is a socialist? Just because he wants universal health care does not mean that he is a "Socialist" Google healthcare in Canada and England. They have univversal health plan, and they are not "Socialists"

IRESPOND - I keep reminding people that the American Socialist Party did not endorse Obama in 2008, and they don't endorse him now. They have their own candidates. Here they are. Neither one is Obama. http://stewartalexanderforpresident2012.org/
If Obama is a socialist, he is the worst one ever if he can't even get the approval of his own country's socialist party. Get educated people.
Well, boys...it's easy to criticize, isn't it? Especially when your party has blocked all the president's legislation to get the economy moving again for the good of everyone.
To paraphrase Ruby in "Cold Mountain':

Romney blasts Russia on campaign trail
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney calls Russia the No. 1 foe of the United States and promises to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin. But if he's elected president, he might find that he'll need Moscow's help.
Obama administration officials see improved relations with Russia as a foreign policy success after years of tension during George W. Bush's presidency. They cite the opening of a supply corridor to Afghanistan, the signing of a major arms control treaty, known as New Start, and progress on trade issues, including Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization.
While Russia has often blocked Western initiatives in the U.N. Security Council, it has gone along in key instances

If we are going to look for "Socialism" here in the US, we need to look at our MILITARY, and yet, nobody is screaming bloody loud about that!
It's all a scare tactic from the extreme right and the "Conservatives" to keep the status quo about the "great"dish that they have served us forever with their health nsurance policies. How many people die a year because of the lack of insurance?
Never mind that MANY other deaths could be prevented. That is OF NO CONCERN to people like Mitt ROmney and Bain Capital.
Conservatives are almost illiterate...they only know one word 'socialism,' and they don't like it.
1910s...
(1) income tax, conservatives didn't like it and still don't, calling it 'socialism' - regardless of the fact that govt used taxes to build better roads for businesses
(2) 8 hour work day, workers are better rested and become more efficient and happier, thus more productive...but conservatives don't like it, alling it socialism
(3) FED Reserve ...bankers' speculative binge caused bank failures and recession, FED was the solution, but conservatives call it 'socialist'
1930s Great Depression
(4) social security - the old retired get some security, conservatives call it socialism
(5) Glass Steagall 1933 guaranteed market safety for 60 years, called
#1.21 cont.
.
(5) Glass Steagall of 1933 was a response to market madness caused by Conservatives' allies in the market place and their speculative binges. This law guaranteed market stability for more than 60 years, but was called 'socialist' and repealed in 1999, leading to the current recession.
(6) unions and collectie bargaining empowers workers to have a say in their workplace to be in a partnership to make the workplace safer and more productive, improving checks and balances, guaranteeing democracy. Conservatives called it socialist, and have been attacking it since the 1930s, recently in Wisconsin and other states.
.
1960s.
Medicare and 'war on poverty' were called 'socialist', but these programs make the middle class bigger and more powerful as consumers who buy to profit corproations more.
.
Vulture/Voucher wants to 'End Medicare as we know it'
.
ObamaCare was again
#1.23 cont.
.
Obama's health care reform adds more customers to the insurance companies who will benefit more, since Obama's reform gives more say to the insurance companies, but it's called socialism, although 'exchanges' are market mechanism, not government takeover.
.
WOW, it's easy to be a conservsative, all they need to know is one word 'socialism', but...
.
all the policies above either save capitalism in US or just allow more profit to corporations - but conservatives are ungrateful. Talking about people who don't know what's best for them and vote against their own self-interest.
.
So Clinton was correct when he said that even Republicans should vote for Demcorats whose policies have given vast wealth to corporations and their running dogs - RepubliCAN'Ts
OBAMA IN 2012.
In the end, conservatives secured socialism only for corporations and bankers...when the market falls every time, they are bailed out on the backs of the poor and other tax payers. - corporate welfare - CEOs give themselves more bonuses with taxpayers' money. This led to a Nobel Prize winning economist to claim - there is always enough money to bail out banks, but never enough to help the poor.
.
If you can do math, corporations will make more money if we empower the middle class consumers to have more purchasing power which boosts demand in the marketplace and thus still dispropotionately benefits corporations.
dave-4342450
Dave, Obamacare is not socialized healthcare. The country I currently reside in has socialized healthcare and contrary to what you might think it has not led to any layoffs here and for that matter in any major industrialized country.
Its all over but the crying. Even Obama knows the election is over, but he's still going through the motions, getting more shrill and childish with each passing day.
I guess the writing was on the wall weeks ago, when Obama said his biggest failure was not telling Americans enough stories. In the last week or two, we've heard a couple of real whoppers- like the Initial Claims For Unemployment falling 30,000 fairy tale. Even if you adjust for incomplete data, those claims went up by an additional 16,000 this past report- edging toward four hundred thousand again.
Given GDP growth of 1.3%, that's not surprising.
Then,of course, we had the series of "stories" about the Libya attack. Anybody ever ask themselves why it was Susan Rice, and not Hillary Clinton, sent out to repeat those lies on the Sunday talk shows? My take? Hillary would not do it. Blatant lying is not quite so easy to pull off- so, I suspect, nobody bothered to inform Ms. Rice of the truth- which the White House had, within twenty four hours.
Further indication that the cult members know the truth was given yesterday, when First Thoughts outlined why their polling was off- just about thirty percent of the 2008 electorate requested absentee ballots in Iowa, (which would be a smaller percentage of the 2012 electorate, given population growth and new registrations), but NBC/Marist clings to the fiction that 34% of Iowa voters have voted early- with Obama winning 67% of that vote.
They also mention that only about 19% of the current electorate have actually returned said early ballots, further reducing the share of the vote Obama will receive. Given the fact that the longer it sits, the less likely it is to be returned, and that, having requested a vote by mail ballot, in person voting is no longer an option, AND that Romney leads by double digits among those planning to vote on election day- kiss Iowa goodbye, Obama.
Given NBC/Marist numbers in Ohio, which are outside the range of all other polls, and I'm pretty sure Ohio goes Romney, as well.
So, here is a little hint from someone who actually studied statistics and probabilities- when you have a hard fact- like the number of absentee requests- and your polling indicates that a greater number of people than the hard fact indicates are telling you that they are voting early, you weight that down to the hard number. It's a pretty simple regression.
Or, don't. Just keep telling those "stories" Obama blames for his failures.
..........John A.-400474
..........Pigotry, I voted you up.
Thanks, and vote our spirits up too and don't give up - we can get better by getting involved in discussions like this...helping informing each other.
.
..........blueinut49
..........Pigotry & Layton--- I'm with you , the economy IS getting better
.
yes, things are looking up... in the next 4 years (O's 2nd term), economic improvement will be more visible - achieved without GOP support - Even more remarkable - come to think of it (achieved without GOP support).
Mitt also has temper issues. Please note during the second debate when things weren't going well for him. The look on his face was one of total impatience and lack of respect for the person speaking. That my friends is a big, big flaw for someone who wants to be in charge of the largest arsenal of military weapons on the planet. Romney doesn't need to be president, he needs anger management. If you need more evidence of that, listen to his son Tag commenting that he'd like to take a swing at Obama. The fruit don't fall from the tree.
Wake up! Romney and Obama are related to each other (look it up). They are also related the Bush's! The blue bloods have always run this world. There is no difference between the two!
Obummer is not Clinton and will never do what Clinton did for our country and Monica.
Typical progressive propaganda. The economy sucks, but it's slowly getting better. How long do we have to hear this, especially when the economy is worse today than it was last year, and it was worse last year than it was the year before. Yet, Clinton parrots the progressive mantra that things are slowly getting better.
As each day goes by, there are fewer and fewer willing to buy into this propaganda.
Pigotry, conservatives are long past almost. The transformation is complete...they are completely dumbed down to their lowest common denomination.....TeaPeople!
Sorry libbies... GDP at 1.3% is not a recovery or even a mending economy
Add the Libya lies of Obama and it is over
BARRACK OBAMA ...FAILED PRESIDENT
g
hey, old fat g...my #1.35 as a response to you was cut short by whatever....here it is -
you say, the economy grows by 1.3% - here is why:
. GOP has refused to work with the president. GOP has refused to put country first. Otherwise, those Obama programs - if not filibustered - would have added at least .5%.
.
. the 1% are too rich, the 99% too poor, the shrinking Middle Class could have boosted demand on the economy - but Bush tax cut for the rich and the wall street -caused recession have destroyed the middle class - cutting 1%-1.5% from growth.
.
. our most important trade partners have been hurt. The nuclear disaster in Japan and economic downturn in Europe lowered their purchases of US goods and services - cutting another .5% from growth here.
.
so add them up, 3.3% growth here would have been good.
Ghee willicurs........guess you discount the lies of Dubya and that little WMD Iraq thingy.
Unindicted war criminals are your image of a hero.
BUSH ADMINISTRATION FAILED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!
When Barry had control of the House and Senate, he even had to bribe certain Dems to pass his signature HealthCare Act. Couldn't even work his own party without those bribes.
You can't blame Republicans for not working with this man since he won't make any reach to work with the opposition.
Face it John, Obama doesn't have the skills to understand how to legislate. It seems to be his way or the highway! But I guess his experience comes from only voting "present".
I was watching the various news shows this Saturday morning and I came to realize that there is a fundamental economic change going on in the world and there is a difference in the approach of the two parties to that change.
The change is that manufacturing is moving to where the costs associated with the process are cheaper. Really really low wage labor, no environmental regulations, no unemployment taxes, no health insurance, no workers compensation, virtually no labor laws whatsoever and almost no regulations exist in a dozen countries that also have the basic infrastructure needed to produce modern goods.
Effectively, fully industrialized countries of the 21st century are competing against the near slave labor standards of the late 19th century; when the industrial revolution took place in Europe and the US. The managers of the manufacturing companies are taking full advantage of the lower costs and making profits for their owners. This process will continue until, eventually (in about 50 years) the populations of those countries demand larger and larger pieces of the pie.
The move will happen, this election is about how we, as a country, react for the future.
The difference between the two parties is how they are responding to the change. The Republican party, as evidenced by Mitt Romney, is working to accelerate the change and give more of the available money to the owners. They support tax breaks for moving manufacturing overseas. Their method of leveling the playing field is to eliminate the "expensive regulations which cost jobs." The same regulations which save lives, allow clean air and clean water, etc. The GOP also wants to cut and eliminate the loans, grants and other programs meant to aid the transition of workers to other types of jobs.
The Democratic party has a different approach. It aims to take away the incentives to move manufacturing out of the country. In fact, it wants to give incentives to bring manufacturing here. For those who are displaced by jobs moving out of the country, it wants to continue the programs meant to help them transition to new jobs. President Obama has also used our agreements with the WTO to fight against situations where governments give unfair advantages to their manufacturers, effectively allowing them to export at prices which are significantly below cost.
There truly is a difference in what each party wants to do with manufacturing. The Republican approach is to give every dollar it can to the owners, even at the cost to workers and to remove all support for workers. The Democratic approach is to attempt to keep manufacturing in the US and, where that is not possible, to assist the workers to new positions. That is the choice you will make in this election and the next several, do you support the US or do you only support business owners.
about Libya,
first, what's really troubling is - why have conservatives been celebrating when our nation is in trouble!!!
Second, it's all chaos in Libya - partly caused by our military intervention there. Evidence has demonstrated that what happened on 9/11, 2012 was not a coordinated - premeditated -terrorist attack - it's just an opportunistic attack by a mob of groups of many stripes.
third... when US marine barracks in Beirut were attacked in the early 80s, leading to more than 200 lost lives of US marines, nobody really blamed Reagan.. why is it different now?
.
Why can't we all stand together for grief and solutions???
.
United we stand??
Pig face...
Your comments about the economy are simply excuses, Americans are ready for RESULTS!
You still stuck on the Libya thingy being a mob action is the problem. You want to fix a problem you must first identify the problem acurately.
Where is the outrage from this president?
dirp...
There is not today, never has been and will not be tomorrow a tax break to move jobs overseas
When Obama spun this line for the third time in debate one and Romney finally called him on it Obama just hung his head in shame, he knew a libby lie was no longer useful.
chilled...
What is Bush running for???
OFG,
There is absolutely a tax break for moving overseas. Any business expense is tax deductible. If it costs money to unbolt your equipment and ship it to Mexico or China, that's a tax deduction.
The law that proposed to eliminate the deductibility of such actions was voted down by nearly all Republicans in 2011.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Bush's economy tanked in the last year of his presidency and the reason why is pretty obvious. The housing crisis, initiated by FreddieMac and FannieMae in a democratic blunder led by Pelosi, Franks AND Clinton. It must be unpleasant to know this in the back of your minds when you yell and scream about how terrible Bush ran the economy.
I lost ALL respect for Clinton when he lied to the American people about Monica. I voted for him twice and didn't have a clue how devious he would become. Listen to him when Hillary was running for President. Sure didn't think much of Obama then and seriously doubt he really does now. Clinton is pure and simple a LIAR and I would not listen to anything he says. But anything for the party, hmm?
The poll here shows that 2/3 of the people agree with me, LOL!
old fat man - do yourself, and the rest of us, a favor and quit making an @ss out of yourself. Your worn out and tired old talking points are useless.
Ann said "Its Mitt's turn." @#$%#@* THIS ISN'T FIGURE SKATING! There are serious consequences to your pocketbook if you vote Romney/Ryan.
Why does the GOP/TP run from him?....Could it be his lies and or his/their record fiscal irresponsibility?
Nothing like needless/countless deaths and record deficits.....
I'll take a wild guess and say.....Both!
Pigotry's economic explanation is full of pork.....the global economic crisis much like USA's is related to debt and lack of economic growth to sustain the spending governments have become used to. GOP in Congress has limited the spending (BO's plans) to get our government under control; so they've done their job as that is what they were elected to do. Stop the hopey/changey President from spending us to oblivion which his programs were going to do. Government programs have ballooned beyond their needs and in order to get our economy growing again on stable footing, not propped up by a house of cards, you need to cut the spending and in doing so not increase taxes. Taxes only create more burden...
oldfatguy: there absolutely are incentives for moving jobs out of the country:
please see http://factcheck.org/2012/10/talking-tax-breaks-for-offshoring/
In addition, many countries give direct and indirect incentives to companies which move manufacturing plants there, including eliminating income taxes for a certain time. Cities, counties and states do that as well, giving breaks on real estate, income tax, sales tax or fees making a location more advantageous to a company.
The question is what do you want your country to do, help the offshoring of jobs and give your tax money to the already wealthy or improve manufacturing IN THIS COUNTRY, and help all Americans ?
BTW: if you keep buying at Walmart and Apple, you support the communist government of China. Your next iPhone, iPad and cheap T-shirt is helping to build the Chinese Navy's second aircraft carrier.
Reagan1984,
Pigotry is consistently right you buffoon! Right, debt is a problem in the long run. If so, why do Republicans CONSISTENTLY borrow and spend the way they do? Reagan-Bush quadrupled the debt. Clinton left a SURPLUS for crying out loud. W threw that way and left a big pile of $hit at Obama's doorstep. More debt and a crappy economy to boot. Obama stopped the oncoming depression, reduced the decifit from the last Bush year (2009), and led the slowest growth in government expansion since Eisenhower.
In other words....what the hell are you talking about?
Taxes create burden only when they are on the wrong people. You could tax people making over $10Million and I'd argue that would help the deficit, help the middle class, and in the long run help the same rich people at the same time. (rich people get richer only if the middle class prospers too)
The economic indicators are all pointing the right way. Unemployment sinking, jobs - even manufacturing jobs - growing, home values and starts up, consumer confidence up, energy production up, GDP growing, deficit shrinking, exports way up, stock market way up, etc., etc. Many of these indicators - like UE, GDP and the stock market - have been moving the right way for years.
Remember the economic fears everyone had in 2009? When was the last time you heard anybody talking about a double-dip recession? We're out of the hole, folks, and consistently moving in the right direction. Even Romney wasn't dishonest enough to say Obama hasn't turned it around. His argument is that it hasn't been going fast enough.
But Romney isn't talking about goosing the recovery to make it go faster. He is talking about changing it entirely. He wants to revisit almost everything Obama has done. He wants to re-litigate healthcare, he wants to re-litigate market regulations. His plan is to undo the last four years. How does he expect to move forward if he's going to spend all his time revisiting old arguments? You folks wanna wait around for that? The only people cheering for that are the wealthy, who were not affected by this recession, don't have to worry about healthcare, and good give a rat's a$$ about the rest of us.
I want someone to mention how Clinton borrowed a lot of money from social security to pay down government debt. How the interest on that loan bankrupted a solvent social security trust. The games they play in Washington only have two rules. Deny everything-Admit nothing. The United States accounting office has the books. Lets hire a Foreign independent firm to do an audit. Then prosecute those individuals, including CIA, military and government officials under existing laws. I would underline existing laws. We are in a declared war, with rights restrictions enacted. The misdeeds would amount to treason, and under the law; Execution!
The economy is about to take off folks. It can't help it. You can't hold back America forever. That's why both sides are so desperate to win--whoever wins is going to look damn good in a few years.
All the indicators are saying so, just like Mr Snakebone says.
Romney could shake things up, then take credit for it. That's what I'm worried about. Right now, there is pretty good clarity that trickle down doesn't work (Reagan and W). If Romney adds some trickle down tax policy and the economy recovers coincidentally, it will provide fodder for those guys for a generation.
Bob-
wee-ooo-wee-ooo
SS trust fund has been in SURPLUS for 30 years. It's solvent for the next 20-25 years. We've borrowed that money from ourselves. That's why the "$16T debt" is really $11T in "outside" debt--owed to people holding US Treasuries. $5T of it is money we owe ourselves, and pay interest to ourselves. That's not bankrupting anybody.
You're not wrong, SmBusOwnerinNY. Macroeconomic Advisors has predicted the current economy is set to add 11.8 million jobs in the next four years, if everything stays the same. Moody's Analytics is on board with that, coming in at 11.84 million jobs in the next four years. The Congressional Budget Office came in a bit below that, at 10 million jobs in four years. All of these are non-partisan, and all of them say their predictions are based on the last four years. As Moody's guy said:
"...the economy’s fundamentals are much improved, as households deleverage, the financial system re-capitalizes, and American businesses become global competitive. Moreover, the construction cycle is on the verge of turning up significantly, which by itself will create a boat load of jobs, particularly in 2014-15."
So when Romney promises 12 million jobs in the next four years, he's basically promising ... nothing.
Economists? Haven't we been listening to them all along? IDIOTS!~ The Global economy does not buy American. If you think service related jobs will build something you would be wrong. I think those are the jobs Americans don't get because it is cheaper to hire outsourced labor. Which has had a lot of new laws to allow all types of professions to come in to work at lower wages. To many people means to few jobs and resources = high prices = INFLATION. Quote some more voodoo-nomics OK! Check out how money was transferred from fund before you talk about what happened.
Good time to keep steady with what you've got. I see a mirror of Clinton's second term in our future. Companies have a boatload of cash on hand, they just need to feel confident to spend it. That's coming soon, which will improve on the projected numbers. 5M jobs plus 15M in term two make Obama just the same as Clinton. Who can argue then that Democratic Presidents are better for America?
Bob,
Non-partisan economists haven't been far off, it's only when someone has an agenda that they start making crap up.
I might be agreeing with you if you're saying we need more $25/hr jobs here. We do. Only when the "job creators" think that's a better idea than shipping those jobs offshore will our middle class recover.
Can you say "incentive?"
PS, my company makes about half our sales overseas, and we buy our components and assemble everything here in the USA. So the world does buy our products.
Who made-up the SSI? What is it for and how is it funded? Pay attention to the bigger picture. How was Desert Storm payed for? The current wars against Ghost's and contries?
You are a rarity that is able to compete against low costs and labor. I would suppose you to be a specialty outfit, correct?
Hello democrats you for got this 2007 -- 2011 >>>>>>
Remember
January 3rd 2007..
The day the
democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009 it was actually January 3rd 2007
the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate,
the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party controlled a majority in
both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
For those
who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is
"Bush's Fault", think about this:
January
3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
At the
time:
The DOW
Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for
the previous quarter was 3.5%
The
Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George
Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!
Remember
the day...
January
3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services
Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The
economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the
economy?
BANKING AND
FINANCIAL SERVICES!!!
THANK YOU
DEMOCRATS for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment... to
this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic
loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOS! (BTW: Bush
asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because
it was financially risky for the US economy).
And who
took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac????
OBAMA
And who

OBAMA and
the Democratic Congress
So when
some one tries to blame Bush...
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS
TOOK OVER!" Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge
of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving.
Americans have control and always will. Until the day they pry our cold dead fingers from the flagstaff.. We will always have thieves and murderers that is inevitable. However, we can rectify the situation one way or the other by using the scales of justice and the wisdom of common sense.
After passing tax cut after tax cut, and military spending increase after military spending increase, and starting war after war, Republican borrowing has added up. So now Republicans terrify the public, telling them that budget deficits will lead to the destruction of the country -- and soon. After a decade of screaming "9/11," "9/11," noun verb "9/11," they now scream "deficit, deficit, deficit." Then with the public suitably stirred up and terrified they offer "solutions" they say are necessary to cut the scary deficit (that they caused, for this purpose).
You libs constantly quote from a former president who got caught with his D%&K where it didn't belong. A man who lost his law license, and a man who can't tell the truth if it hit him in the face.
Barry & Company's idea of debt reduction.....
"The fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget estimate for all components, including programs, within the EOP
is $710,753,000, which represents a decrease of $7,260,000, or 1.0 percent, from the FY 2012
enacted level. This restrained budget further represents the Administration’s commitment to
aggressively pursuing control of deficits as the Nation works to rebuild and grow the economy.
Reducing domestic non-security discretionary spending in FY 2013 and beyond is one important
step in accomplishing this priority." - 2013 EOP Budget
Barry's commitment is a whole ONE PERCENT......
Anyone out there had to make reductions in YOUR spending habits? Bet it was a whole lot more than ONE PERCENT...........
kaybeetoys ....
I'd never understood your screenname until today. Sometimes, doing a little research on the candidates pays off ....

Obama/Biden 2012
I cant wait for this election season to be over. When Romeny or Obama wins, ill be so happy that Hate speech enthusiasts like Beverly and company will SHUT UP. Tired of the hate. Tired of the lies. Tired of people being so damn ignorant they cant see that not everything their candidate has done or said is perfect. Im tired of it.
Cant wait to get back to just living normal with the rest of America.
The most desisive thing isnt Obama or Romney, Left or Right, Democrate or Republican, its the people who follow them.
What a clodpated moron. People are losing their homes in record number, unemployment rose if you can believe that considering millions have given up hope of finding a job anytime soon. When they do apply Babyboomers are getting the old "Your too old" look at a time when they need a job the most. Many are taking care of WW2 parents and because of the economy have had children move back home. Youve got some nerve Clinton, youve never had a real job or been without money. Your a jerk.
Do you really think the economy is piking up. divide the amount of job created during September by the amount of States and see how many Job each State produce. Four more years of Obama will really sink this giant ship and the rest of the world. You want big government like Europe they are suffering the consequence and if we go under third world war will start. Obama don't like war, but he is driving the entire world to one. Remove the scales from your eye. you don't have to listen just see around you. God help us if he win another term. although base on my own poling by calling independent and undecided voters I believe that Obama will win by 53% of the vote.
We have made slow and steady progress in bringing the country back from the economic catastrophe the Bush Administration brought upon us.
Clinton left us a surplus budget and Bush/Cheney sunk us. Simple as that.
Now the Republicans scream that President Obama hasn't done enough to fix the problems the Republicans caused in the first place.
The GOP has no good record to run on. War and debt is all they have given us for generations.
47 million people on food stamps. 16 trillion deficit. Real unemployment at 15-20%. Gas at $4/gallon. Skyrocketing grocery prices. An economy who is growing slower THIS year than last.
But the ultimate snake oil salesman tells us "things are getting better". I guess when you are a multi millionaire like Billy, things do look better cause for him it's never looked bad.
The famous Bill Clinton mantra- "if you tell a lie often enough, some poor sucker will fall for it"...................
Why hasn't Romnesia deployed recent GOP leaders, such as former president W. Bush, former VP Dicked Cheney, former Defense Secre. Donald 'duck looney toon' Rumsfeld?
.
What is Mitt hiding? inconvenient truth...??
.
or Mitt Romney -
is a little looney?
Larrry,
Then get your no value Congress voted out. You did attend a civics class and remember there are three branches of government?
Obama/Biden 2912
Larry-4040453
47 million people, with food in their mouths, because of JOBS they lose from failed GOP policies. Forgive us Dems for not wanting Americans to STARVE to Death.
11 TRILLION and record vote of 19 times to raise the debt ceiling by the GOP during Dubya. Fiscal Responsibility? I think NOT
Unemployment at 7.8% and the bleeding of 800K jobs STOPPED
GAS Prices were $4.00 when BUSH was president. When does the President set the gas prices.
Ooops, yes, those food prices have nothing to do with Droughts in the midwest? Oh yes, that's Obama's fault to right.
My Name is Mitt Romney, and I can't ask you to approve my msg.. .. The Kochs Brothers have not shaken my etch a sketch in the last 5 minutes
@ItsAboutTime-3704531 The following, until the link, is quoted from a CBS fact check article.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-3460_162-57401650/face-the-facts-a-fact-check-on-gas-prices/
The problem with your FLAWED argument is that the prices have been going up (in the beginning), and consistently high THE ENTIRE OBAMA PRESIDENCY since, not just a short period of time, as under Bush.
Obama has added $5.6T, and rising, to the debt in four years. That is $700,000,000 more than Bush added in 8 years.
The ONLY reason the jobs have stabilized the little bit, and that is a mirage, is that Obama is taking on a ton in debt to make jobs at a very poor rate for the money spent....Socialism anyone? He is paying people with your tax dollar and debt, not really making any real jobs, or improvements to the economy. In fact, when we finally default on all his debt, we will be so much worse off.
@ Kevin
The following LINK is from Consumer Reports:http://www.consumerenergyreport.com/2012/03/14/charting-the-dramatic-gas-price-rise-of-the-last-decade/
Here's another: http://www.consumerenergyreport.com/2012/02/27/how-high-have-gas-prices-risen-over-the-years/
Average cost for a gallon of gas in the U.S. between 1998-2011:
CLINTON YEARS
1998 — $1.03
1999 — $1.14
2000 — $1.49
BUSH YEARS (Avg. I REMEMBER SPIKES at $4.00 a gallon)
2001 — $1.43
2002 — $1.34
2003 — $1.56
2004 — $1.85
2005 — $2.27
2006 — $2.58
2007 — $2.81
2008 — $3.26
OBAMA YEARS
2009 — $2.35
2010 — $2.78
2011 — $3.53
The problem with your flawed argument, is gas prices ROSE the HIGHEST during the Bush years and never really came back down now did it. Seems to me, the oil corporations (who are the big time supporters of the GOP) got us 'used to' higher gas prices during the BUSH years, and are now making record profits (80 billion) from it.
The president (regardless) cannot set the gas price in this country. The minute he did, you righties would CRY FOUL over interfering with the private sector would you not.
Yes, socialism. GOP Socialism, the one that got us in this mess in the first place. Let's redistribute wealth from the lower/middle class to the rich and corporations.
BUSH passed along 11 TRILLION in debt did he not? BUSH himself said he would cut the deficit, and he didn't do it either. Shouldn't we as americans go to CONGRESS (who is responsible - Article 1 section 8) and demand a balanced budget amendment?
It is not a mirage on jobs. Say that to one of the 5.2 MILLION who got a job in the last 4 years and see what they say.
Nearly all due to the crash that built up energy over years, started downward in 2006/2007, augered into the ground in 2008/ 2009. Did not start getting better until mid late 2009 and has very very slow improve since..
Many factors here. But the 30 years of trickle down theory tax reductions and other craziness in the tax code has reduced revenues, severely whack the middle and lower class. Driven down the median wage for corporate greed
Although neither side has done the moderate balanced business in congress to do the right things improve thing s for the long term Meaning a balance of reforms to increase revenues and reduce spending in a thoughtful way and no one is being direct and upfront that everyone needs to give some to get back into balance Obama is the safer choice
As noted Slow and steady positive is better than doubling down on trickle down tax cut theory
It is instructive to follow the price of gas in a graph. Look at avg regular gas over many weeks covering the last decade or twenty years. Especially watch 2007 to present for recent history
The so $2 gas gas is a the depth of the us.world crash Look how steep the drop off happen and how many jobs were being loss at the time 2008 well into 2009 from the crash that effected world demand
This same period had millions losing jobs and thus use sun employment and food stamp safety nets
We tanked despite all the trickle down lowest lowest rate jargon and in reality during the recession have keep mos tof the rate cut sin place and adding some more and still have deal with wars and other legacies that a broken congress will not tackle in a moderate balanced way
First, Bush passed on $10.6T, but nice of you to round up.
Your gas prices source belies what everyone, except Democrats apparently, are REALLY feeling at the pump, and does not jive with the chart from gasbuddy.com. I DEFINITELY have paid more at the pump for a more sustained period of time. While the president can't set prices, his policies certainly affect it.
http://gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx (click on 8 years, and compare the general position of the graphs while each president was in power).
The mirage is that Obama is spending to create jobs that will go away as soon as the spending stops....but don't worry, if reelected, THE MOST PROLIFIC SPENDER IN HISTORY will keep paying to keep you socialists employed. What is your 5-year plan, comrade?
People, who are rich (I am not even close to being one of them), earn their money through hard work (sometimes from previous generations, and inherited), and great risk of loss. They deserve what they own.
I agree, Bush was terrible when it comes to spending, but still twice as good compared to Obama's spending.
One thing we do agree on: I would LOVE a balanced budget amendment. Many states require a balanced budget.
Analysis after analysis shows how little the president of the us effects gas prices.... Even dumps from the strategic reserve in time of high demand and low supply have only tiny impact
The gas buddy graph clearly shows the world wide demand crash that kick in with the world wide recession crash when we were losing millions of jobs
Look at steep decline from summer $4 highs in August 2008 to the low I nearly 2009 . The drop is a cliff during recession crash that wer have been slowly digging out of for four years now
Please attend to your "Romnesia" and get better! The cure is easy: GET THE FACTS! Unemployment is at it's lowest in 4 years since the President took office.
The price of OIL can't be managed by the President. It is a COMODITY, which means it is regulated by the supply and demand. Drilling for more oil will only destroy our environment, and will continue making people lazy TO LOOK FOR OTHER ENERGY SOLUTIONS!!
Mitt Romney is ready to rip the environment to pay back the Koch Brothers. The price of oil NEVER WILL GO BACK TO $2.00 tHOSE WERE THE DAYS WHEN China WAS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.THEY ARE no more!
Oblama and his supporters were recently noted to have come down with severe cases of a disorder called
Liarrhea followed up with enormous cases of pinnochioitis!!!
Many of you Obama lovers say he has no control over gas prices because the prez can't control them and then you blame Bush for higher prices. WTH! Where is the logic in that.
Bread used to be five cents, too. Before my mother was born. C'mon, people, get real. The President does NOT set commodity prices, or you'd all be screaming SOCIALIST!!!!!
Wait, you already do that.
The President's duty is not to create jobs. Romney was correct here for once. Then 45 minutes later, he said he'd create 12 Million of them. That's a world record for lying. 12 Million lies in 3 seconds.
Get educated. The amazing ignorance of the Wrongme supporters is proof enough that this should be our top priority.
I (still) work for Chrysler, and laying that aside for a moment lets recap and take a look at why President Obama is in the White House in the first place:
In 2007 - 2009 America was hemorrhaging. We were bleeding out.
banks were failing
Lehman Brothers
businesses going belly up
stock market tanked
federal debt soaring even before Iraq and Afghanistan costs were disclosed from repub concealment
auto industry on the verge of collapse
bin Laden was enjoying TV dinners
Quadaffi was playing Scrabble
World Trade Centers still gone
3 jet airliners crashed
5,000 dead American kids in Iraq
2,000 American kids dead in Afghanistan
And then Obama comes along to pull us out of the republic party morass we'd been in for 8 -12 years. He's done a good job.
He saved mine.
He saved my house.
He saved the whole Midwest.
Now another repub, Romney, comes along and tells us he wants to take us back to the nightmare we just left. He tells us the wealthy want to "trickle" on us again.
Pass.
I'll go with who I know saved our country. Seriously. Why is this election even close?
Hey, ItsAboutTime-3704531
.
How can anyone blame the president for gas prices - did you conservatives conveniently forget about the market which has always been dominated the rich running-dogs of conservatives?
.
first it's the market, stupig,
second it's the corporations that have always been determined to manipulate the market to make obscene profits.
You showed your age, as I will show mine. Civics class has not been taught since the sixties. Maybe some things should be brought back.
4 more 4 44
GOPisextinct, get it right. My and my children's futures were leveraged against our will so to be accurate, I saved your job, and I saved your house, and I saved the mid-west.....
How does it feel to be owned?
I won't know what it is to be owned until the republicans in government take control of my decisions about my health.
Don't believe the Romnesia smoke and mirrors about letting women have abortions in the case of rape. Romney will tell you anything while the republican platform is to take your rights away to decide about your own body even in the case of rape.
Remember it is the republicans belief that in the case of real rape, women don't get pregnant, therefore any women who gets pregnant was not really raped.
Therefore the government gets to force you to have that child and then Romney would say awful things about you because you didn't wait to get married to have children.
VOTE FOR WOMEN'S FREEDOM...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
The fact-checkers say Obama was right about gas prices in the debate. Prices tanked along with the economy at the end of Bush's term. The main reason they have come back is because our economy has come back, alongside world demand.
Those who say that prices have anything to do with our domestic production are dreaming. Bottom line is that US production is 'soaring' (to quote a recent AP article) right now, and since the price is set by global market demand, the only way the president can reduce those prices is to crash the global economy - again.

Same thing happened to you with Iraq. They poured your kid's future right into the desert sands while you were cruising in your submarine. White-collar socialism, welfare for the well-off.
All the Bush era was was a giant transfer of wealth to the top.
Oh, and Chrysler paid their loan back at a rate of 22% interest. Put that in you sub and smoke it.
And nobody owns me. I'm not like you,...railing against big government, and then sidling up to the government pig trough to get my Navy VA benefits or pension. The people pay that, and sooner or later you gotta get a real job in the real world.
My kid's future to pay for your protracted sea cruise.
How long has it been on the mend Bill? Didn't you not say been going down not long ago.? Make up your mind.
The first question to ask yourself, is not about gas prices, but what segment of the population uses a car to go to work, and what segment of the population uses public transportation. Residents of New York City would have little need of a car for the most part, and hence no need of a driver's license. Further from metropolitan areas, you might need a car to get to the train station or the airport. Oil in these areas would be used more for heating oil, manufacturing chemicals, etc., than transportation. As you tend toward the more rural areas where public transportation provides less options, gas for cars is a greater expense. Plastics, fertilizer, heating fuel, are a significant amount of " a barrel of oil ", and wind energy, coal fired electrical generation, nuclear powered electrical generation, hydroelectric generation, and solar energy all in part reduce the need for oil as a source of building heat. However, freight trains, and commercial airplanes cannot rely on electricity as a power source. Coal fired steam engine trains have not been in use for some time due to air pollution.
Thus the need for the political forums to debate the energy demands of the nation. It's not about gas prices. If you live in a major city where many don't drive, your cost is the diesel fuel which hauls in your goods via truck and train, or aviation fuel which hauls your commuters to some distant sales conference.
well you all argue all you want but here are some facts for you dumbazz democrats bill the impeached azz clinton liar sack of sh it is the ONE AND only one responsible for the moves overseas by a lot of companies that went , again i point out that sack of sh it liar wife cheater clinton signed into law the NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE ACT ,NAFTA . HE IS THE TRAITOR HERE AND YOU ALLS BUTT BUDDY OBAMA IS NO BETTER he stood and WATCHED as Chris Stevens and 3 other hero americans were murdered . your buddy obama is guilty of murder and he is a traitor to the United States , he should be tried and executed for his part in their deaths along with his bitch hillary
Clinton said it pretty well the other day after Hillary was told to take a dive for the team. We all heard his meaning loud & clear (at least those of us that can think and reason on our own)...... Barry and Ax must of slipped a little extra appearance money (or an intern) to Bill so he get back on board.
You got it. Bill was steaming. So maybe some cash to balm the sting and let's face it. Clinton has to play both sides of the fence.
Next tuesday Bill may not be in to good a mood - if Romney is smart he will bring up Hillary and how she took one for Obama's mistakes and that even Bill said the economy is 'not fixed'.
Bill WILL slaughter Obama if given the chance. He HATES Obama.
All Romney needs to do is request Obama to release the tape. The tape at the compound, in real time, they watched it go down. Show the timeline, the attacks, show the documentation that Stevens and other request for help, and was denied. Ask why the very next day he flew off to a fundraiser if he knew it was a terrorist attack.
i AM SURE THAT YOU HAVE VERY RELIABLE SOURCES THAT TOLD YOU THAT, AND YOU ARE NOT JUST REPEATING WHAT YOUR "HEARD" FROM rUSH LIMBAUGH, FOX, OR OTHER NON-INFORMED people that insist in bringing trash to this administration.
Romnesia is the word. You are infected.!
I'm tied of the whole thing if you want to go that route then how about the 2004 explosion of the mess tent in Iraq
that was heavily fortify in a military base in Iraq killing people I'm sorry but this happens it;s called life I wish it didn't
Barry and Ax must of slipped a little extra appearance money (or an intern) to Bill so he get back on board.
O yea ummm you know all those 1% Obama wants to tax to death...ummmm geezzz isn't good ole Billy one of them...remember he when into the white house with nothing now he's worth far more than Rommney....wonder how that happened...geez...
Romnesia at work again. Tax to death the 1%? Asking the 1% to pay the same tax rate as me is now taxing them to death?
Those poor poor rich people. They had no money for jobs but they have millions upon millions to spend lying to the American public to convince you to vote for the republicans that have promised them forever tax cuts no matter that it would cause another recession in America.
The republicans just voted against jobs for our returning veterans and you want us to believe they care about the rest of us?
I think I now know why Romney won't show us his tax returns, he doesn't want us to know how much money he has made shipping American jobs to China.
VOTE FOR AMERICA...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
America...apparently you miss the point....Billy boy like Obama had basically zero coming in to office...take a guess at what he'll have going out.....and as a typical talking head you spew the same old worn out talking points your buddy micheal moore and others spew....I just find it interesting that most of the 1% er's are umm lets see Moore, Clinton, Fonda, Beyonce, etc. all such fine upstanding people....and these are the ones you seem to truely believe will make your world better.....truely sad....
Vote Democratic straight ticket -anything else won't do!
Umm no such thing as the "democratic ticket". It's now called the SOCIALIST ticket or as I like to call it, the traitors ticket.
Voting straight party line is the act of a fool.
If that were the case in the past four years we would already be like Greece.
Voting the straight party ticket takes away from you local elections! Research ...and then vote!
Obama/Biden 2012
Voting straight Democrat is a great move....if you want to ruin the country. The economy is not "on the mend" as Mr. Clinton suggests. Our unemployment rate is horrendously high, gas prices are killing low income and small businesses, and Obamacare is going to cause mass layoffs. Democrats are CLUELESS how an economy works. I know GW was a disaster, but Obama is actually worse. At least Romney embraces free market principals. Don't you people realize that 16T in debt, over 200 T if you include all of our unfunded liabilities like medicare and SS, and instead of enact massive austerity like we needed, he just borrowed more and more money, to the tune of over 1 T per year. We are in the beginning of a horrible depression, and all you ignorant fools are going to make it worse by putting Obama in another 4 years. Watch some videos of Peter Schiff who predicted our collapse back in 2006. Then you'll start to understand what's happened and what's about to happen.
I don't believe so especially when the house blocks ever bill
We have no Checks and Balances in this country just lobbyists
We the American people are the Checks and Balances!
The economy is INDEED on the mend. Our unemployment rate is .4% higher then when Dubya left Office. Gas prices are as high as they were when Bush was in office, or did you forget the PRICES while he was there. ObamaCare is NOT going to cause massive layoffs, and if the GOP was the 'party', where is their proposal to stem the high cost of health care?
R$mney cannot run this country like a corporation. Why? WE ARE NOT a corporation. Show me Romney's detailed economic plan and then we'll discuss. Don't you people realize that 11 TRILLION of this debt came as BUSH left office? The GOP voted 19 times to raise the debt ceiling. Is that fiscally responsibility? CONGRESS is responsible, and its time the American people DEMAND a balanced budget amendment.
I would also rather be dirt poor, working 4 jobs to make ends meet, then watching the GOP and ROMNEY destroy civil rights.
YOU watch this video of R$Mney and then come and tell me he is qualified to be president.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI9yjhd8b84
Hey Time---didn't Obama say he'd get unemployment down to 5.6% when he took office? And didn't the Democrats control both houses of Congress, and the Presidency for the first two years of his term?
Hope 2008; Nope 2012
I can't say Obama fulfilled all of his campaign promises, because clearly he didn't. What I can clearly say, is when unemployment is at 7.4% (2008) and we are losing 800K jobs a MONTH, there's no way anyone could have turned it back around 'right when they took office'.
OH and yes, the GOP/Dubya had control of both houses of Congress, and still racked up 11 trillion total in the deficit and raised it 19 times.
Romney will make things worse, and based on the GOP stance on civil rights.. I'll take my chances
Obama/Biden 2012.
Fight over the debt ceiling in congress caused the Moody downgrade
You have little choice bu to approve an increase on it until you get a long term balanced increase in revenue and cuts in spending to tackle they yearly deficiet. This is slow weaning that needs to be strategic for the long term and good for the whole country not various special interest short term greed/ gain. It has to balance all side in a moderate compromise all give a little way
Or what??? Will you liberal "chicken littles" claim
the sky if falling"?????? LOL
Nah, we'll just call everyone socialist like the republicans do. Much more effective don't you think?
I mean we had plenty of socialist dollars to bail out the greedy banks. We even had plenty of re-distributed socialist dollars to give to Romnesia to save the Olympics.
But now that the banks and the rich are saved, lets get down to the real business of starving American children for the republicans. Do the republicans get some kind of perverse pleasure from demanding that all children be born just so the republicans can deny them food and education after they are born?
VOTE FOR AMERICA...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
A vote forO'Bama IS a vote for socialism.Definition: Moving control of goods, services and profits out of the hands of business and towards government control...sound familiar? Tax the corporations and small businesses (and along with it, their ability to create jobs and grow). Get people 'hating' the greedy corporations, even though they employ most of us, and then use the money to subsidize government programs..that IS clearly moving in a socialistic direction.. O'Bamacare will almost double the number of people eligible for medicaid or welfare in 2014..another social program rife with fraud, lack of oversight and accountability and bankrupting some states in the process. His solution to 'help' is to make it easier to get government aid. Disempowering, demoralizing government aid instead of helping businesses create jobs. Instead of yet another government program how about creating some jobs for the 12.3M that need them? .2% is NOT significant job growth, especially right before the holidays when temps are hired. Government has never managed ANYTHING well...vote the socialist OUT..and if you object to the term socialist, vote him out anyway on his dismal economic record...
We all get it. You hate President Obama and refuse to see the condition that bush left our country and then on top of it the republicans got together and promised to hurt America so they could prove that President Obama couldn't do it, be president and successful.
The republicans have voted against every job, even to voting against jobs for our returning veterans and then turn around and like you want to blame President Obama for the lack of jobs and the returning of our economy.
Check it out, President Obama has turned the economy around and lowered the deficit without the republicans help in any way. I would call that a success. Of course our recovery would be faster if the republicans cared for our country as much as they care for their pledge to grover norquist and his desire to destroy America.
Enough of the silly scare words that only scare the people who are short a sandwich or two for a picnic. You wouldn't know a socialist if he bit you.
President Obama is hardly a socialist. But it scares all the silly little girls so I guess that is why rush and faux keep using the same lies over and over.
No it's not. Three straight quarters of backwards economic growth and an additional $6 trillion dollars in debt. Clinton is full of it.
Is he Mitt Romney,
or is he just a little looney?
What Iacocca does not say is that he endorsed Kerry in 2004 and Bill Richardson in 2008. He supported GWB in 2000. So he's not a right wing crazy.
America does need new leadership.
Let's vote out the republicans who voted against jobs for our returning veterans.
Let's vote out the republicans who have voted against jobs since President Obama was elected.
Let's vote out the republicans who recently voted for the rich corporations to keep their special tax cuts to reimburse them for moving our jobs overseas.
Most of all don't vote for Romney who is still making money from Bain who to this day are still moving American jobs to China and Romney is still making money off it. Funny how Romnesia affects Romney from remembering that years ago he knew that the blind trust were an age old ruse as you get to tell the blind trust what to do.
There is a reason Romney is hiding his tax returns from the American public.
I find it hard to believe that any women is stupid enough to vote for a republican to make herself into a second class citizen with the government in charge of her health care decisions.
Once the government is in charge of your body like in China, it is just as easy for the government to make women have abortion like in China as to make women not to have them.
VOTE FOR WOMEN'S FREEDOM...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
The republicans are getting desperate after the disaster Romnesia had at the debate..
Romnesia made up the story about his "binders" of Women.... Whats the explanation on that one?
Romnesia caught with his pants down on the 'acts of terror" on Libya..... But it's the moderators fault that she knew the truth?
Do you or do you not support equal pay for Women Romnesia?
O&JOE
hummbirds' caught Oblamo's LIARRHEA!!! Either that or he had a wishful dream about how the debate really went down!!!
@hummbird,
Obama never specifically called what happened in Libya an act of terrorism in the press conference. He was speaking in generalities. Crowley was dead wrong to interject what she did.
Desperate? Looks like the Democrats are getting desperate. But Im sure all you lemmings will keep thinking everything is honky dory as the ship called Obama goes down.
If President Obama did not call it an act of terror. Then just who was he talking about making pay for what they did?
This is just another case of the republicans trying to twist words. Just like in the taking the work out of welfare lie that the republicans have told over and over. Just like the you didn't build it lie that the republicans have told over and over.
Yeah let's just pretend the president didn't say what he did and then attack him on what we republicans said he didn't say.
Then you have the nerve to call us the lemmings as you follow the republican lies off the cliff.
VOTE FOR AMERICA....VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
I think that if Mitt Romney gets into office there will be a new American Civil War and the outcome will be the end of the United States of America as we know it today.
Mitt Romney is a two face liar.
From middle glass to the old and the poor will be the first to go.
Romney is only for Romney and people with money like himself.
Romney is a two face low life male pig.
Romney is the helper of the Devil.
GetReal-What does your screen name really mean??? About time that you got real, for real!!! Your delusions may entertain you but aren't reality!!!
How about dealing with your own delusions before you skrew the entire world with another term of bush with Romnesia in charge?
I am sure you have forgotten that Ryan voted for the unpaid for wars and voted to create the deficit with tax cuts for the rich. Apparently you have also forgotten the recession brought on by the republicans policies that Romnesia wants to bring back with the hiring of most of the old bush advisers.
The republicans always forget that bush carried the war off the books, think Enron. President Obama thinking it was dangerous to carry such debt off the books and added it to the deficit which the republicans blame on President Obama as if it was his debt and not bush's because it was added in the Obama administration.
Romnesia the most dangerous disease in America.
William J. can be quite eloquent. I do believe that we will learn to tune to one and other and play in harmony.
If we stick with this President, we'll feel somethin' alright....right where the sun don't shine.
We are still recovering from something the last president put where the sun doesn't shine. :)
The last president did not get us into this mess.
Bill Clinton started it with the housing fiasco.
All Bush did was go to war.
One we could have done without, but the other was and still is necessary.
The last president DID get us in this mess. Dubya passed along 11 TRILLION in debt and the GOP voted 19 times to raise the debt ceiling. That's just a quick fact. The housing crisis started under Dubya, and if I follow the GOP line of thinking, HE Should have fixed it.
You know nothing about current events, history or politics.
Clinton signed the now known as "Home for every American regardless of income or credit act" right before
he left office.
Left smiling , waving and with his pockets stuffed with cash.
Why do you think the people of Arkansas nicknamed him "Slick Willie"?
Umm.. yes I do. I have a double degree in political science and geography, with minors in history and international affairs.
Let's suppose for a 'second', that we go with this obtuse theory that Clinton is at fault. BUSH had 8 years to resolve this problem, did he not? He had control of BOTH HOUSEs of CONGRESS did he not? The GOP Blames Obama for the entire recession, and loves to stay this myth of having a 'super majority' in Congress for 2 years. Yet.. when Bush was President.. ummmm.
If you have double degrees in political science and are still a liberal, you might hope you kept your receipt.
You need a refund.
Well, imagine that, not a single bill was ever passed called "Home for every American regardless of income or credit act. Where, oh where, is the record of that bill?
Both side sides have contributed to where we are. The real slide started with reagan over thirty years ago. Trickle down and shifts of wealth to fewer and fewer in our society. All contributed to this and credit card use.
It is all about special interest versus balance
We are getting very close if not there to having control with a few and a corporate oligarchy.
We have lost our way in learning to balance things
@Viewer_Ready:
"All Bush did was go to war"
Really? That's all? I thought it was something important, like getting thousands of troops killed or something...
Glad you got that clarified....I will tell me two grandsons that when I visit their graves...they died in Iraq.
Oh, gosh, Say What..... I am very sorry for your loss. Blessings to you and your family.
Say What, sorry about your grandsons.
I applaud their work and honor.
But, you have to remember they, like I, VOLUNTEERED into the military.
Hey RED, it was called the "Affordable Housing Lending Act".
I was just using the metaphor as a joke.
But it's the same thing.
Clinton gives an accurate account of history. He left us a great economy with 4% unemployment and a budget surplus. The supply siders and the neocons worked together with W. to destroy all of that. The 2009 budget year began in the last 3 months and 20 days of the Bush Administration on October 1, 2008. The needless war in Iraq, the trillion dollar budget deficit W. created after inheriting a large surplus, the unsustainable tax cuts in the midst of war, these are tragedies he and his extremists created. They are such large tragedies, it will take at least a generation to overcome them. And yet the same extremists are back, with the millionaires holding out their hands for another 20% tax cut. The question remains: Is America stupid enough to fall for it again? History will judge us as a failed nation if we do. Any vestiges of our former greatness will be gone within twenty years, and the government's ability to accomplish anything important in the future will have vanished. Most ordinary people will live without health insurance. College will become far too expensive for most, just like it was a century ago.
Clinton wouldn't know a hunky dory from a funky Lewinsky.
Only a leftist Democrat would think, current GDP growth at 1.3%, is OK. No we are not moving in the right direction! The economy has stalled! 2.3% fewer Americans are working today, then when Obama became President! Median household income is down 8.4%, since 2009! A gallon of gas has doubled. And Obama has no plan, for the economy! Except this, "if you have no record to run on. Paint your opponent as someone to run from!" BHO.
Romney Ryan 2012, for a more properous America!
Hunky-Dory my ass.
The economy is in shambles and will only get worse if Obama is re-elected.
Investors will crawl back in the trenches and wait for another four years.
America is doomed if this incompetent is re-elected.
Oh, and Bill please shut up, we know you get a very large chunk of Obama's campaign money.
The Economy is clearly on the mend, and if Romney gets in there, it will get worse than it already is.
Apparently, viewer neither watches or reads the news and is still living in 2007/08. Too bad he missed out on all those stock market gains that thrilled investors over the last 4 years. His/Her loss.
Based on what, itsaboutslime? The economy tanked and continues to tank under Obama. News? What CNN? The "constantly caught ignoring news or manufacturing news" channel?
The facts are easy to find.
Blame, blame, blame!!! Bush did it!!!! Does anybody recall Obama stating he was gonna fix everything? HE promised and even laid down the claim that if he didn't he deserved to be a one term POTUS!!!! HE FAILED and he's renigged on his promises!!! HE now say's he's got to have 4 more to fix this country. HE can't do it, he won't do it and we all know it. Now let's hold him to HIS one term statement!!!!!
If the republicans care so much about America, tell me again why they just voted against jobs for our returning veterans?
Why is it that republicans have voted against every jobs bill to put Americans to work?
Then you want us to blame President Obama for what the republicans have done in voting against jobs?
The republicans promised to obstruct and hurt America as much as they could to prove that President Obama is bad for the country.
Over and over it is the republicans hurting our country. What is right about taking the food out of the mouths of hungry American children for more tax cuts for Romnesia who already pays about a third of the effective tax rate as the rest of us?
Then the republicans would have us believe that we would tax to death the rich by asking them to pay the same rate as me.
Interesting that all those tax cuts created millions in political contributions to the republicans, but no jobs.
When did they do this genius? When Obama and the Democrats had full control of the house, senate and the white house? When they told the republicans they could ride the bus if they sat in the back? Two years of a super majority and they didn't create ONE job?
Your boy Obama has raised more money than the republicans, so...I guess the phony "alternative energy" bankruptcies are flowing back to his campaign funds, right?
Answer me this,
Why do women support Clinton who was the biggest whore monging President in recent history. Then lied about his indiscretions, and denied all accusations. Plus just a little discrace of being impeached from office.
Yaaaah! that is a man I would listen to. Obombo is so Ambiguous in his answers nobody can figure what he has said for sure. I doubt he really does himself, unless someone from the biased media are there to throw him a life line when he does his submarine acts.
Yes... answer me this.. marriage is between a man and a woman, then another woman, then another woman. Hmm.. sounds like Newt Gingrich to me. WHO LIED about it and went after the President while HE was doing the exact same thing. Talk about an even bigger disgrace. Tell the GOP to stop their war on women anyway.
Obama has been VERY Clear on the road to recovery policies. Show me something more than Romney's 5 point plan. That would have been an F in my university
What is the name of the university you went to.
I want to make sure I steer clear of there within a few hundred miles at least.
Whatever you guys get from that university might be contagious.
Obama has no recovery plan.
All he keeps doing is telling us to "wait, these things take time".
Well, we are NOT recovering and his time is up.
I think you need a basic course in economics, american history, and try American government while your at it. Where is Romney's detailed economic plan? He couldn't even name 1 tax loophole he would close during the debate.
Obama is very clear on his plan and has discussed it MORE than once. These things DO Take time. Oh yes, Obama can resolve the entire deficit all by himself with an inept do nothing congress. Read Article 1 section 8 and then come and tell me exactly who is responsible for spending.
I know the articles, and we all know who is doing the spending.
And those of us who run a business know that we will not be able to find investors because of your hero.
That and we will be forced to reduce workload and workforce to pay for his idiotic Obamacare crap.
Romney has laid out a plan, (or were you paying attention)?
Romney had a similar health care plan implemented in MASS, and even that is not working well.
He does however have a plan for a fix.
The fix is to allow each state to decide and maintain it's own plan.
It is not a nationwide peice of sh!t like Obama wants.
If you want to sit in plastic chairs covered in dried coke and gum under flickering fluorescent lights
for hours waiting to see an underpaid "doctor" be my guest.
As for the economy, just electing a conservative ANY conservative will boost investment and growth overnight.
Neither side is being honest and upfront on the fact that everyone has to give and pay something to get us back a reasonable balance
All are avoiding the hard discussions
I personally believe Romney is likely to make it worse for more people. Hence why I am voting for Obame for the first time
Less harm. And less war hawk bluster
I am recently retired military and do not think this country can deal with more of the same type nation building crap of the last decade The money and lives wasted inhow we went about this is staggering. I am for getting the bad guys but we can be a world policeman and lone cowboy with guns
Meant we can not be the world's policeman

Simple question. Can you share with me a link to R$mney's detailed economic plan? Its not on his website. So by all means, please prove me wrong. 5 POINTS is not a plan, its an etchy sketchy outline at best.
ItsAboutTime-Simple question. Can you share with me a link to R$mney's detailed economic plan? Its not on his website. So by all means, please prove me wrong. 5 POINTS is not a plan, its an etchy sketchy outline at best.
Well I did find this link to his full plan.It explains it as well as he does.
For all the details on Mitt Romney's 5 trillion dollar tax plan visit ROMNEYTAXPLAN.COM
Viewer Ready-What is the name of the university you went to.
I want to make sure I steer clear of there within a few hundred miles at least.
After reading your posts I get the feeling you've steered clear of all universities. So don't worry about it.
Romneys 5 point plan is a lot better than Obamas 2 point plan which = 1. TAX.... 2. SPEND
Marmee, just another case of Romnesia probably contracted from faux or rush , truth is President Obama has lowered the deficit since he has been in office.
Now if only the republicans would let the rich could pay the same percentage of taxes that I do, then we would see faster improvement to our economy.
You do know the republicans have voted against every jobs bill, even the one for our returning veterans. So am I to believe that if Romnesia is elected that suddenly the republicans are going to care about America again?
Clinton was also convicted of Perjury in Federal Court. He lost his license to practise law in Arkansas!
Uncle Bob 512
lol thanks uncle Bob. I saw that link a few days ago, but lost it. Thanks for the comments and posts.
Dave4342450:
I don't ordinarily attempt to engage a person like you, who is so obviously wrapped up in the most extreme of right- wing lies and fictions, but on reading your comments, I was reminded of my personal hero, Winston Churchill, when he said of a young MP: "I should hardly think it possible to state the opposite of the truth with greater precision."
You referred to the socialization of medicine- yeah, we should all be so lucky. Sir, do you understand, do you have even the remotest idea, of what Socialism actually is? What it's not is delivering thirty million new customers to privately- held, for-profit insurance companies and HMOs. Obamacare resembles socialized medicine about as much as George Bush resembled an effective, intelligent leader.
I can assume that either a.) you just started driving in the last couple of years, and thus weren't paying attention in September of '08 when gas prices hit $4.80 a gallon- higher in a few places- or, b.) you are simply showing the same reckless disregard for the truth that characterizes Republicans in virtually all circumstances. (If that's too complicated for you, I'm calling you a liar.) Drilling on public lands has increased considerably, and the price of gas is determined more than anything else by speculators, who make their money by driving up the prices beyond what working people can afford. Your "leader" Romney knows all about speculating and thinks it's just swell.
As for the President adding burdensome regulations to small businesses, that is another bald-faced, unmitigated lie that the right has been promoting, not because it's true, but because it fits their twisted and false sterotype of how Democrats govern. It's like the N.R.A. screaming bloody murder about how Obama's going to take away everybody's guns and/or make them register every round of ammunition- while the White House has been conspicuously silent on the whole topic. Guns just aren't a priority for this president. Instead, he's approved the repeal or loosening of over 10,000 regulations, and earlier this year was recognized by the noted hotbed of comsymp pinko fellow- travellers at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for having done so. Once again, sir, your accusation is not merely false; it is ludicrously false.
As for adopting austerity measures, we've seen how that works in places where it's actually been tried: The bankers, who bear the lion's share of the blame for nuking the economy in the first place, will continue to get paid while the working class- you know, the people whose labour creates all of the world's wealth?- continue to get the shaft. Austerity causes needless suffering amongst the workers while giving preferential treatment to the bankers. My question to you, Dave, would be this: At what point do you believe that the bankers have been given enough? How much public money and political influence do you think is the right amount for these parasites who, for the most part, do not do any meaningful work whatsoever? There's a rather large piece of real estate called Europe that you should examine closely before shooting your mouth off about how we need to increase the misery amongst our own productive class so as to spare the plutocrats any discomfort- good Lord, can't have that.
Your ignorance is abysmal and your seething hatred is as obvious as a red light. You should know better than to just spew your idiotic lies out there for everybody to see and laugh at. There's this nifty thing called the Internet that makes it easier to pin down the facts of any issue, meaning that the only people who are still being taken in by this kind of balderdash are those who are volunteering to be gulled. I would say that you are embarrasing yourself, but very much doubt that you have the capacity to feel that.
good points... kind of satirical that all the major industrialized countries we compete with in Europe that we saved or defeated in WWII (Germany, Italy, France, Britain, Belgium, etc.) all have socialized med so that every citizen gets decent care free and does not have to worry about going bankrupt in one trip to the hospital like 70 million do here. They also get free education and that is even through grad and med school if they compete for it. Their tax rates are higher a bit, but if you do calcs of putting your kids through college and the med insurance or direct costs if your family doesn't have it, my guess is they save money better than our families can on average with their high tax rates.
You called it right on the business side, Obama and dems have not been any tougher on them, maybe the banks but they deserved regs, they can't police themselves anymore because they don't have corporate patriotism like they used to so they will shaft the folks they grew up with to get rich.
We have all types of governments in this world to look at for deciding on changes, and something between our current billionaire favoring policies and the semi-socialist Canada, Germany, Japan and others with the socialised med and free education through college is a good direction to go in. The word is out in studies, those countries have more opportunity and mobility than the USA has for the lower classes now because we are going backwards to a Colonial 1700's society, where education was only for the rich Americans.
I just returned from a trip to Ireland. The people that receive government health care wait hours, days and some times weeks for emergency care. example I was given was a broken arm. I was told their new government was in the process of overhauling their health care system.
I gathered from my conversations with locals that government is playing way to big of a roll in their lives with its behavior modification style of governing.
So you are saying the Irish would prefer to pay $10k per year to an insurance corporation that may or may not pay for their broken arm, and for the privilege of paying that premium, wait hours, days, and sometimes weeks for emergency care, and that they would rather have corporations play a large role in behavior modification of the population.
I remember sitting in an emergency room here in America with my 10 year old son's broken leg crying for four hours during the day while they took care of a full room of babies with colds and a man who hurt his back 5 years ago who I was sitting next to and various other non emergencies before they would see him because the bone wasn't sticking out of his leg. We had insurance.
There are 40 million people with no insurance who have it much worse than the Irish. Their only hope of medical attention is clogging up the emergency rooms or the rare free medical clinics.
Cry me a river about your repeated broken arm story when we have thousands who die in this country every year for lack of health care.
They could move to Ireland! Me I love Tri-care!
Romney Ryan 2012!
Barry & Company's idea of debt reduction.....
"The fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget estimate for all components, including programs, within the EOP
is $710,753,000, which represents a decrease of $7,260,000, or 1.0 percent, from the FY 2012
enacted level. This restrained budget further represents the Administration's commitment to
aggressively pursuing control of deficits as the Nation works to rebuild and grow the economy.
I have seen graphs and President Obama has lowered the deficit since he has been in office. Of course he got no help from the republicans who claim to care so much.
bush and the republicans inherited a surplus and in 8 short years managed to turn it into the largest deficit in out history. Add to that a market crash and bleeding hundreds of thousands of jobs. So bush is their ideal of success.
Because bush time was such a success, Romnesia has hired back more of the old bush advisers to lead us back to the past so we can enjoy more of the glorious bush days.
I really find it amazing that there are people actually want to go back to the bush destruction of America days and would vote for Romney to get there.
Yeah tax cuts for the rich and more wars, sounds like bush to me and bush really knew how to lower the deficit doncha think?
If repubs had not vowed to stop everything Dems and Obama propose since 2009 meetings with Gingrich, there would be many more infrastructure projects funded right now translating into millions of new jobs. The GOP like Limbaugh said back in 2009 that he wanted Obama to fail no matter if it hurts everyone but the rich (Rush surely did not want to get hurt, just the 99%) so you can bet that translates into higher unemployment than if the GOP had accepted our president and worked to improve economics and employment opportunity after the Bush years.
So to ad to Clinton's hunky dory comment, what is "hunky dory" going to be if the GOP will hostage America as they did last 4 years - that is except the rich guys because check the DOW, better than Bush did in 8 years.
How did they do that from 2006 to 2010 with an all democrat controlled congress, doorknob? and 2 years of that with a Democrat president??
The worst decline in the economy was during the 1st 2 years of Obama with a supermajority. How did that go? "I guess the republicans can ride the bus, be we'll be doing the driving..." Well, Obrainless did the driving all right. Happy now? Obama spent the money on nonsense "alternative energy" boondoggles that cost us billions, and got nothing. On a "stimulus bill" that drove us far into debt and created no jobs.
Steve, old argument still wrong, after Brown replaced Kennedy just a few months into 2009, super majority gone and you guys had already bought off Lieberman, plus there are a few dems from red states that were not always full go on dem policies, probalby afraid to be lynched in the bible belt world. Your fillibusters will go down in history as serving Rush Limbaugh and his want for Obama to fail. You guys wonder why we call you racist, he would never have said that if a white dem president (Clinton, Gore, Kerry...).
Oh come on Bigbear, quit trying to pull that BS racist card!!! it's old, tired, worn out and complete bullcrap!!!
I thought President Obama was white.
Racism definition: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
BigBearcatBill has an excellent point!!!! I believe that definition sums up what's been going on in Congress with all of the republican's controlling the power because of a black president they simply do not want. I don't think ANY President has been treated with as much disrespect as president Obama. Racism is very alive. Just listen to all of the underlying racist remarks by FOX news. It's horrible.
Good grief... Now lets hear from a former lier...
"I did NOT have sex with that woman." Uh...I mean...The economy's fine, folks. Nothing to see here...move along.
Jeez, Jimmy...what lie was I actually on? The teleprompter is on the fritz again.
What Mitt is, is a lying slime.
I was just watching Ed Schultz on MSNBC in Freeport Illinois where a company (Sensata) is shutting down and moving the company to China. This non union company is an auto part manufacturer, owned by Bain Capital who took bail out money from Obama and is profitable.
Romney owns 51% of Bain and is still receiving income from the profits at Sensata and Bain.
Any of you Republicans who think that Romney does not have to explain Bain Capital, does not need to show his tax returns for the last ten years and thinks Romney is on the side of the workers are stupid. Not only are you stupid, you will have sold out the working class for the wealthy few. This man cannot be elected to the office of President of the US.
Well lets see who has been better for the economy in America:
"Mitt Romney likes to argue that his business experience has prepared him for the challenges of the presidency, particularly in stoking economic recovery. In his speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination, Romney declared that President Obama “took office without the basic qualification that most Americans have and one that was essential to his task. He had almost no experience working in a business.”
But historically, has the economy been healthier in times when the president has had a business background?
As any good executive would, let’s look at the numbers.
Since Herbert Hoover’s 1928 election, the American people have voted out of office after a single term only three elected presidents: Hoover, Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush — all of whom were successful businessmen before they were president. And the only successful business-trained president who was reelected, George W. Bush, oversaw an economic collapse at the end of his second term.
As measured in constant 2005 dollars starting on Jan. 1 of the year after they took office — the economy’s performance in the first year of a presidency is better assigned to the preceding administration — the four presidents with successful business careers had the four worst records in terms of gross domestic product performance.
The only president since Hoover with business experience under whom the economy did well was the one who was unsuccessful in business: Harry Truman, whose haberdashery shop went bankrupt after two years.
The startling bottom line is that the nation’s GDP has grown more than 45 times faster under presidents with little or no business experience than it has under presidents with successful business careers. And on average, when there has been a successful businessman in the Oval Office (so, Truman is excluded), GDP growth has been negligible.
On average, under presidents with successful business experience, GDP has increased 0.12 percent. And under presidents with little or no business experience, GDP has grown 5.46 percent.
The story is much the same when we look at share prices in this time frame.
None of the five presidents under whom the stock market has had its best performances — Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower — had significant business experience. Topping the list are the two most recent career-politician presidents, Clinton and Obama, both of whom pursued economic policies that Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, insist are anti-business and economically disastrous.
Three of the four presidents under whom the stock market has had its worst showings — Hoover, Carter and George W. Bush — had successful business experience. Carter, the only Democratic president in this period who prospered in business, had run a very profitable peanut enterprise. But his economic record as president was so bad that Reagan defeated him in 1980 in large part by pointing to the very high “misery index” created by high unemployment and inflation under Carter.
Stock values have averaged a robust 14.2 percent annual gain under presidents without business experience, and they have fallen by an average of 3 percent annually under those with that “essential” qualification.
The most startling figures emerge when we combine party and business experience. Historically, a Democrat without business experience has been extraordinarily better for the economy and the stock market than a Republican who had a career in business. In the past 84 years, GDP has grown 7 percent per year under Democrats without business experience (FDR, JFK, LBJ, Clinton and Obama) and fallen by 0.2 percent per year under Republicans with business experience (Hoover and the two Bushes). The Dow has risen an average of 16.8 percent per year under Democrats without business experience and has fallen by 3.7 percent per year under Republicans with business experience.
It is often said that a president has little control over the economy, but that is only partially true. A president and governmental policies act with the economy as farmers do with crops. Crops and economies grow on their own, but how well they grow is greatly affected by the actions of those providing water, fertilizer, weed removal and so forth.
There is a saying: “If you want to live like a Republican, vote Democratic.” Perhaps it should be amended to: “If you want to live like a successful Republican businessperson, vote for a Democrat without business experience.”
Romney might need to find a better way to sell his experience.

Very, very well said!!!!!
If Romney is so bad, the why does the gallup poll show him 7% ahead of Obama and the Rasmussen poll show them dead even?
Hmm? Answer me that Elmo!
Because their is a sucker born everyday and Romnesia is a good con artist. He is always ready to tell you anything he thinks you want to hear even if it is not what he said yesterday. Then Romnesia's campaign comes out the next day and says quietly that no Romnesia does not believe what he told you yesterday.
You bought the con, explain how that happened and you will have your answer.
What I want to know is why do you believe that republicans care about America or jobs when they just voted against jobs for our returning veterans?
If the universal health care was good for working people, what's wrong with the socialism? I think nothing wrong with the socialism. something wrong with your washed mind.
If your said socialist did right thing for America, I'm proud to be a such socialist!
Saywhat, That was your first problem, MSNBC, your second listening to Clinton. Third Obama, GDP this quarter is 1.3%. This time last year it was 1.5%. The economy is getting worse. Under Obama not better!
Romney Ryan 2012!
If the economy is getting worse why is it again the republicans voted against jobs for our returning veterans?
You are at risk, I think you have contracted Romnesia as you forgot that republicans have voted against jobs for the last four years as you seem to be blaming President Obama for their votes and the lack of jobs.
So do you want me to believe that if we elect a republican president currently making money shipping jobs to China the republicans who have pledged to Norquist to kill America are suddenly going to care for America and jobs again?
It is real simple. The European countries followed Ryan's ideals of austerity while America got the Obama plan of a stimulus. America has been growing in the right direction and the European countries entered into another recession. You decide which is the better plan and who seems to understand how to grow an economy better.
I think it is time the dems get recognition of a long term strategy that is becoming apparent if you go back to Clinton's years. The repubs do not want a dem president at all costs, all costs including hostaging America, and other evidence per Gore v Bush 2000 which is still a one vote victory, one supreme court judge. They had 6 years of controlling all branches of gov, they probably expected the congress defeats in 2006 and 2008 after GW's first 6 years with his repub congress and the many reasons independents said goodbye to them. So they came back with Citizen's United to then win the 2010 congress House back and a few more senate seats to strengthen their fillibustering. Now they are going for voting laws to make it more difficult for typically large fractions of dems to vote than repubs.
You know you got to piece it together, maybe even go back to Gingrich shutting down government for a couple days and his impeachment of Clinton vote. They are hellbent to eliminate any power by Dems and if they get their way, get ready for all those bad GW Bush things like unnecesary wars and housing bubbles and crashes recycled every few years. On top of this, because of him and things that happened on his watch we now have basically little privacy with the very costly security world the repubs brought in after 9/11 to invade our privacy and be big brother to all of us, but to them that is OK as long as repubs control all branches of gov. Maybe that is why they want total control back, because they don't like being watched by national security unless they are the top "deciders" as GW liked calling himself.
Thanks for the good laugh LIBS. Like anyone would take the word of Bill Clinton. Well maybe he is trying to get in Monicas pants again. Bend over people
Not hunky-dory? I recall that Obama said the private economy was doing fine. Could we have a difference of opinion at high levels?
Barry & Company's idea of debt reduction.....
"The fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget estimate for all components, including programs, within the EOP
is $710,753,000, which represents a decrease of $7,260,000, or 1.0 percent, from the FY 2012
enacted level. This restrained budget further represents the Administration's commitment to
aggressively pursuing control of deficits as the Nation works to rebuild and grow the economy.
The ex-president with no moral principles pimping for a president with no clue.
Bill did you start to inhale?
All Republicans live in a dream world, Thay make more in one month than most people do in a year. They think they can run America like a business. Not hardly, America is a wussy country that will bow down to every welfare mom an low income indbred hick that has kids they cant afford. welfare, government assistance an a fat tax return cgeck at the end of the year. You have two simple choices. Go to college an better yourself, or hit the trailer park an knock her up an cheat the government out of billions... Better hurry, If you get her pregnant now you can still beat the 2014 tax deadline. Thats a 7 thousand dollar unearned income credit tax check you can spend on that big screen tv from aaron rental an 2000 dollars worth of chrome wheels on your piece of @!$%# car. an if theres anything left. get the kids something.....
How can you spot a democrat?
Look for the guy without elbows.
He always has this hand out and can't wipe his own a...
Your ass still dirty, Tracy?
And why do you keep licking the bowl? Don't you know enough to flush it?
No Paul. You Obama morons live in a dream world. Obama is trying to run this country like the socialist he is. Can't work, Won't work, Never will work!
I go along with Tracy except further...Obama morons and Democrats have there head so far up Obama's ass, they can see, hear or think because of the crap between their ears.
Plain stupid!
Paul. I am confused with your post. You start off talking about Republicans but describe the typical Democrat. Food Stamp, Welfare leaches, Trailer trash.
You are describing the typical Democrat voter. Which one are you? The welfare leach, trailer trash?
Poor average american, you have been told the lie so often you actually believe it. Democrats work, own homes just like you. We are not welfare recipients or on food stamps to vote for President Obama.
I paid taxes even when I was on unemployment.
We work and are just like you, except we are not willing to screw America for the rich.
Interesting with all that tax cut money the rich job creators had millions and millions for political contributions to the republicans but no money for jobs.
I appreciate what I THINK is average american's attempt at sarcasm but the truth is that since our beginning our economics have been controlled by business and now corporations. They provide the jobs and opportunities for most americans and lobby the politicians to 'help' their interests, which in turn, helps all those employed and allows expansion and more jobs. We may not like the stories we hear about greedy CEO's but the fact is they employ most of us. O'Bama is not about that-all his policies thus far- more taxes on business, more red tape for them to wade through to expand so that he can fund more government programs is strangling our economy at it's source. Government has NEVER managed anything effficiently-there is little accountability, much waste and little incentive for oversight of most government programs. As for Clinton's comments,I like Bill Clinton but WHOSE economy is he talking about, China's?
