Subscribe to RSSDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Mitt Romney responded to President Barack Obama's latest attack, accusing the GOP nominee of forgetting and shifting his positions on issues on Friday night by calling out the Obama campaign for resorting to "petty attacks and silly word games" in the final three weeks of the campaign.
"Have you been watching the Obama campaign lately?" Romney asked a crowd of several thousand supporters at an outdoor event Friday night. "It's absolutely remarkable. They have absolutely no agenda for the future. No agenda for America. No agenda for a second term. It's a good thing they won't have a second term."
"They've been reduced to petty attacks and silly word games. Just watch it. The Obama campaign has become the incredible shrinking campaign," Romney said.
Romney's counter came after Obama unveiled a new line of attack at a rally earlier Friday in Virginia, coining the term "Romnesia" to describe satirically how Romney might have changed positions on issues by forgetting his past stances over the years.
“He's changing up so much -- backtracking and sidestepping. We've got to name this condition that he's going through. I think ... I think it's called 'Romnesia'. Now, I'm not a medical doctor but I do want to go over some of the symptoms with you. Because I want to make sure nobody else catches it,” the president said.
“If you say you're for equal pay for equal work, but you keep refusing to say whether or not you'd sign a bill that protects equal pay for equal work, you might have Romnesia,” Obama said to laughs. “If you say women should have access to contraceptive care, but you supported legislation that would let your employers deny you contraceptive care, you might have a case of Romnesia.”
Romney continued his own new assault on what he claimed was the lack of a second term agenda for the Democratic administration, a chord he has been striking at each appearance since the second debate.
"The president has no jobs agenda. We keep on asking him: What are you going to do to create jobs? He has nothing new. He says well we're going to go forward," Romney said. "Forewarned is a better term."
“Here’s just part of President Obama’s agenda for a second term: double our exports, create a million manufacturing jobs, cut oil imports in half, recruit 100,000 math and science teachers, train two million workers at community colleges, and reduce the deficit by more than $4 trillion," Obama campaign spokesman Danny Kanner responded in a statement.
Romney and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's joint appearance in the Sunshine State, their third such joint stop here -- and Romney's plan to stay here through Monday night's debate -- reflect the closeness of the race here. A new poll from CNN/ORC shows the Florida in a statistical dead heat -- with Romney claiming 49 percent of the vote to Obama's 48 percent.
At a fundraiser in Boca Raton on Friday, Ryan told donors their late gifts could make the difference in financing a turnout operation that will determine the winner of this often-decisive battleground state.
"Your dollars are going straight to voter turnout, to voter education, to cutting thru the clutter, to giving the country a choice that they themselves deserve," Ryan said.

Can't see what Romney is so miffed about - hey new nickname for Romney - instead of mittens, how about miffed romney. This election has been full of barbs on both sides of the aisle, but going ater Big Bird means cutting funding to nonprofits as PBS is a nonprofit agency = wish I could go to Washington for the Sesame Character march - I would wear a big bird costume with banner carried with Big Bird and Romney in the ring fighting it out - guess who wins if Barack gets second term - guess who loses if Romney gets one, but folks let's be grateful if he does get in that hopefully, Hillary and I hope Caroline Kennedy on the ticket with her wins in 2016 fpr two terms, then Whoppi Goldberg and Michele Obama from 2020 through 2028 - by then I will be off the face of the earth and won't give a damn.
Listening to Obama and his campaign, I think of immature juveniles using name calling and throwing sticks and stones. This is a prime example why we need some real "hope and change" in the Presidency. We need adults running the country, not juvenile delinquents crying na, nana, naya.

Its about time Presidential candidates take wiser actions to show the world we are the largest Economy and the Strongest in the world, by how we present ourselves. This childs play of politics show the world how wrong our political system is. Maybe that is why Im not better off after the past four years, and the next four could be worse if given the same unexperienced President we have. Maybe you forget our AAA credit rating in America was downgraded during this present term due to a President that could not get Congress to work together not as Democrat or Republican, but as a good for all Americans and the World. The World is watching us and its time we act more maturely in how we debate, and how we select Candidates, and choose our Presidents. Other countries do not use this exact system like ours, fashioned like "Laurel and Hardy" Government is much more serious to show the world we can help all and do good for all. Tell us how your going to fix the mess we are in. America needs the change to be more serious with current issues facing us and the world. Expressing and joking with your opponent, does not show Professionalism or Leadership, it expresses a childish view. Continuing in the way these candidates are then it is my prediction that America will fall ! There is alot to be done, before USA and the World is Strong again as one Earth !

How many remember Romney' misuse of " You didn't build that"? It was so far off it was actually comical. I loved the guy sitting at Romney's table who had received a few hundred thousand dollars in govt subsidies not to mention his having bragged how he had paid litte or no federal taxes for 6 years! just a few short months before he sat down with Obama that fateful night promoting he did it all by himself. Of course he never touched on the actual point Obama had been making just as Romney didn't. It didn't bode well for the spin on " You didn't build that" to acknowledge that was speaking to the American infrastructure which we ALL built together with our government.

Romnesia is another word for Lying! Romney's strategy has long been one of saying as little as possible about policy positions. The fact that Romney is always trying to obscure his positions, points to the fact that his positions are draconian and will be extremely unpopular with the electorate. Equal Pay for women? Not gonna tell ya! Eliminating tax deductions for the middle class? Can't say which just yet! Overturn Roe V. Wade? Not part of my agenda! Support Arizona's racial profiling papers check? Obama had a plan in 08 so what makes your think he will deliver on his plan this time. The man has no leadership, no budget plan other than spend more money, and is a proven lair as we can all see over the middle east terrorist attack. SallyAnn, Look at Obama's promises in 2008: Cut deficit in half, keep unemployment under 8%, irresponsible to raise debt limit, will have most open administration (fast & furious, stimulus investing), Libya actions and non-actions, etc.

I'll cut Obama some slack if he thought he could make things normal during a campaign race in 2008 when the Bush Bomb hadn't even exploded yet and the dust hadn't settled so we could all see the Grand Canyon craterhole Bush's policies had put America into...... which wasn't even visable until June of 2009. No one knew how destructive the Bush administration had been. And the aftermath debt hole was also largely on Bush's watch and blame goes to him. Blame 13 trillion of the National Debt on Bush and his Republican cronies.
