Romney: Obama campaign reduced to 'petty attacks and silly word games'

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Mitt Romney responded to President Barack Obama's latest attack, accusing the GOP nominee of forgetting and shifting his positions on issues on Friday night by calling out the Obama campaign for resorting to "petty attacks and silly word games" in the final three weeks of the campaign.

"Have you been watching the Obama campaign lately?" Romney asked a crowd of several thousand supporters at an outdoor event Friday night. "It's absolutely remarkable. They have absolutely no agenda for the future. No agenda for America. No agenda for a second term. It's a good thing they won't have a second term."

"They've been reduced to petty attacks and silly word games. Just watch it. The Obama campaign has become the incredible shrinking campaign," Romney said.

Romney's counter came after Obama unveiled a new line of attack at a rally earlier Friday in Virginia, coining the term "Romnesia" to describe satirically how Romney might have changed positions on issues by forgetting his past stances over the years.

“He's changing up so much -- backtracking and sidestepping. We've got to name this condition that he's going through. I think ... I think it's called 'Romnesia'. Now, I'm not a medical doctor but I do want to go over some of the symptoms with you. Because I want to make sure nobody else catches it,” the president said.

“If you say you're for equal pay for equal work, but you keep refusing to say whether or not you'd sign a bill that protects equal pay for equal work, you might have Romnesia,” Obama said to laughs. “If you say women should have access to contraceptive care, but you supported legislation that would let your employers deny you contraceptive care, you might have a case of Romnesia.”

Romney continued his own new assault on what he claimed was the lack of a second term agenda for the Democratic administration, a chord he has been striking at each appearance since the second debate.

"The president has no jobs agenda. We keep on asking him: What are you going to do to create jobs? He has nothing new. He says well we're going to go forward," Romney said. "Forewarned is a better term."

“Here’s just part of President Obama’s agenda for a second term: double our exports, create a million manufacturing jobs, cut oil imports in half, recruit 100,000 math and science teachers, train two million workers at community colleges, and reduce the deficit by more than $4 trillion," Obama campaign spokesman Danny Kanner responded in a statement.

Romney and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's joint appearance in the Sunshine State, their third such joint stop here -- and Romney's plan to stay here through Monday night's debate -- reflect the closeness of the race here. A new poll from CNN/ORC shows the Florida in a statistical dead heat -- with Romney claiming 49 percent of the vote to Obama's 48 percent.

At a fundraiser in Boca Raton on Friday, Ryan told donors their late gifts could make the difference in financing a turnout operation that will determine the winner of this often-decisive battleground state.

"Your dollars are going straight to voter turnout, to voter education, to cutting thru the clutter, to giving the country a choice that they themselves deserve," Ryan said.

And Mr. Obama's blueprint can be found at one of his 2008 campaign speeches where he stated something to the effect: "Shower them with little hits and then attack them (his opponents)."

Yep, right out of Alinsky's playbook:

An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent.”

Rule 13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.”

Both quotes; Saul Alinsky.

Remember: "The end justifies the means."

Sorry state of affairs when Mr. Obama does not want to discjuss his FAILED domestic and International policies.

Actually Mitt not only suffers from Romnesia,

.

born with silver 'foot in the mouth,'

.

Mitt also suffers from amnesia,

.

Romney has been pettier throughout the campaign ... very mean spirited in the first debate...lying his arse off...even one of his sons has just come out saying he wanted to punch the president.

Hah! Hah!

Isn't Mitt Romney just too precious?

This Clown, Mitt Romney, is a known psychopathic Liar, an Admitted Tax-Cheat and a probable Felon,

who only Avoided those Felony charges by Unhonorably and Cowardly "Retiring Retro-Actively" from Bain Capital.

And what's this that I hear that one of Mitt Romney's sons "threatened" the President of the United States?

Is that True?

I guess the Apple doen't Fall far from the Tree! Like Father like Son.

You might say that Mitt Romney's sons "Had a GoodTeacher".

Mainly their own Father, Mitt Romney, who was quite the Bully in Prep School

according to eye-witnesses.

And this Clown, Mitt Romney wants to be President?

I don't think so.

.

The GOP busters in Congress have filibustered most of Obama's initiatives in the last 2 years, so that Romney can claim there is no agenda by the President. What is the agenda of Vulture/Voucher? End Medicare As We Know It???

.

Why should We The People tolerate this any longer? Kick GOP rascal busters out of Congress, End Romnesia As We Know It.

The left wing posters on here are as pathetic as Obama and Biden. Instead of making snarly remarks about Romney why don't they try and explain what Obama's plans for the next four years are? Could it be they know Obama still doesn't have an agenda, plan or even any ideas other than to tax the rich.

Maybe Obama needs a reminder about saying "I will cut the deficit in half" and his promise to the Latinos "Immigration reform will be one of my first priorities," then there was "I will close GITMO and transfer all prisoners within a year." Obama did say he will end the war in Iraq but he forgot to mention that the date for withdrawn of ALL American troops by 31 Dec 2011, was already set by President Bush in the SOFA agreement signed in 2008, he did try and change the date so the US could remain past Dec 31, 2011, but the Iraqi told him no.

There are dozens of more Obama promises and ideas, so maybe Obama has what could be called "Obamanesia".

Myth Robme can talk all he wants about "pettiness" - but what he is DOING is NOT petty! (or pretty, LOL)

If you are even considering voting for Robme, first Google: "Bainport IL," and take a look at what a RomneyWorld would look like. . . .

170 American jobs, out-sourced to China, and the Sensata plant closed, despite 3rd Q net profits of $500,000,000 - $500M is apparently not enough - he needs more $$$ off the backs of workers.

why? GREED. Instead of paying American workers $17 an hour, they can pay Chinese workers .99.

Romney owns 51% of the stock in Sensata - he reported $800,000+ profit from Sensata on his last tax return.

the town council sent him a letter asking for help - he never even bothered to answer it.

Before you blame Obama for unemployment in this country - and before you decide Robme is going to suddenly start creating jobs (for Americans, not the Chinese) - look into Bainport/aka, Freeport Ill.

Then VOTE! O & JOE! Your job depends on it!

I see nothing silly about "Romnesia". However, I find "binder full of women" hilarious since Mitt didn't really have one.

Boston journalist David Bernstein reports that while Romney did indeed find himself with a binder full of women’s names, it wasn’t something he requested. The binder was put together by MassGAP, a bipartisan group of women who joined forces in 2002 to push Romney’s incoming administration to hire more women.

Mr. Romney, I would rather be squeezed than be outsourced. It is disgraceful that a candidate would make a profit outsourcing jobs to China (Sensata) while saying on the campaign trail that he would be tough on China. Many bills put forward to help with job creation has died on the floor of Congress due to Republicans not wanting to help. Shame on all those who protect only the wealthy.

Petty? Who is being petty?

What is petty about 533 lies in 30 weeks? Romnesia perhaps?

What is petty about claiming you will be tough on China while Bain Capital is shipping a factory to China and training the Chinese workers here? Romnesia perhaps?

What is petty about threatening a moderator? Are you afraid of Big Bird? Does Big Bird make you feel inadequate?

Obama's policies are working ok. They would work even better if they were fully implemented. But those petty republicons will not pass a single thing that America needs to make this recovery better. Maybe that is why their approval rating is at a petty 7%.

Wow, what a wimp. Seriously, Mr. Romney ...you need to man up!

This whining, coming from the guy who has verbally trashed and derided President Obama, and Mr. Obama's administration every single day for the past two years -- and did so almost entirely without any response from Mr. Obama until the Democratic Convention this Summer -- Romney sure cries foul quickly when someone hurts his delicate feelings! (Heaven forbid some bully get close enough to mess his perfect hair). My 9-year-old grandson is more manly. Good grief!

Mitt must have been a delightful as a child, growing up as the youngest with four older sisters. I can almost hear him:

"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy ...make her stop, make her stop. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! She's picking on me. Please make her stop, ...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.........."

I don't even want to think about the wounded reaction we would get out of a 'President Romney' if Vladamir Putin, or some other world leader upset Mr. Romney's delicate sensibilities.

Sounds a bit ... risky, to me. Especially given Mr. Romney's chicken-hawk mentality and apparent need to try to prove himself to be tough, even if it means starting and sending other people's sons and daughters to wars like chicken-hawk George W. Bush did.

@DB the $800B stimulus worked well. Not very well, but well. I know its pointless, but recall 2008-2009 that EVERY SINGLE ECONOMIST--left right and center, said the stimulus should have been at least $1.2T and it all should have been in direct spending. Instead the enemies of America (GOP) demanded that 1/3 had to be in the least stimulative form of stimulus--tax cuts.

Health care--the CBO and every non-partisan researcher has stated that Obamacare will reduce insurance costs. BTW, if you received a rebate check from your insurance company, I trust that you refused to cash it--after all, that's Obamacare in action. You wouldn't want to be a hypocrite, would you?

How about--230+ dead marines in Beirut--under Reagan. The 1st WTC attack six weeks into Clinton's presidency? 3000+ dead in the 2nd WTC attack under W? 4 dead in Libya under Obama. This isn't to say that only a handful died under Dem administrations and 3200+ under Rep. administrations and hence excusable. Instead, it points out that intelligence failures happen. Nothing sinister, you've just gotta remember our adversaries have every advantage, and sometimes you just can't stop everything. When did the US become such a nation of pussies? If we'd been as cowardly as the Republican brand is today, we would never have won the Cold War.

Iran on the verge of 5 bombs and you are wetting your pants? 1st, no credible source says they are on the verge of building 5 bombs. Second, I repeat--when did the US become such a nation of pussies? If we'd been as cowardly as the Republican brand is today, we would never have won the Cold War. A bomb goes off anywhere, and we will irradiate Iran for the remainder of human existence, and we wouldn't even use 1% of our bombs. And BTW, Romney has already said he'd do exactly what Obama's doing--unless you agree that he'd launch yet another illegal war, which I believe he would.

DB...

800 Billion Stimulus plan

Actually, it was $787B but hey, what's $13B more or less to the right-wing? If was such a bust, then why were so many R legislators falling all over themselves to be photographed presenting oversize checks to people in their district, taking credit for it or who pleaded for funds? Like Bobby Jindal, Phil Gingrey, Jack Kingston, Saxby Chambliss, Jimmy Isakson, & Paul Ryan. Funds that came from...well, how about that...the Stimulus Package.

A Health Care insurance plan that increases the cost of insurance instead of Lowering it.

It seems that isn't a cut-and-dried fact. I call your attention to the following link concerning ACA costs, and also to the October AARP Magazine, p.68.

http://cciio.cms.gov/resources/factsheets/rate_review_fact_sheet.html

4 dead in an embassy attack

This was truly regrettable, but a single terrorist attack doesn't denote a "failed" foreign policy. For if you count Libya, then you must also count 9/11. Or would that be a failed domestic policy?

Iran on the verge of completing 5 Atomic Weapons, delivery vehicle could be any car, truck, or luggage.

Well, DB, do you have any proof of this estimate? What would YOU do? Start another war in a far off region? A little more "cowboy diplomacy"? Start singing the John McCain version of the Beach Boys song?

"NO" You cannot hit punchlines so well if you are under stress like you are talking about.

Romney lost his "punchline" towards the end of the debate when it was proven that what he alleged the POTUS had said in the Rose Garden about Libya was false. He stammered and stuttered like a leaky balloon.

But if you really want to see his angst, look at the video taken immediately after the debate was over when the families and some of the audience came on stage. Mitt looked rattled...his sons crowded around him...but the look on Ann Romney's face was the kicker...total disbelief that Mitt had been ridden hard and put up wet.

The GOP has a major problem with real-time debate fact checking...and as clearly transpired, there's a reason why they do.

No plan???? No plan huh Mr. Romney? Let's see, President Obama has a jobs bill that the republicans are afraid to even look at yet approve unless the tax cuts for the rich are included. They stated in 2010 "JOBS JOBS JOBS" so I ask them "WHERE ARE THE JOBS REPUBLICANS that you promised?" They know the President's jobs bill will get the economy growing again and drive down unemployment BUT they sit idly by and do nothing. I wonder why? OOOOHHH I KNOW, so they can make Obama a 1 term president. Now they want to try and work a deal to save defense spending when they AGAIN, refuse to strike a deal to help balance the budget while coming up with sensible cuts.

What about you Mr. Romney? What is your plan? We know you have one but you don't want us to know about it UNTIL you are elected. The only one we DO know about is your energy bill that you CONVENIENTLY had written down on a piece of paper AFTER you came out of a "fundraiser" with all the fat cats in the oil industry that simply said "drill baby drill" and "approve the keystone pipeline". All you have said is that you have a "5 point plan". Well what is it?

As for "petty" attacks......You've been doing them the whole campaign and I guess it's not a problem when they benefit you but as soon as some one "calls your bluff" and reminds you of the comments and stance you set during the primaries, they are petty attacks. YET you and the rest of your "minions" have to dig all the way back to 2006 and 2008 to make your arguments about the President not caring for the country by distortion. Doesn't anyone thinks that's a little bit desperate and sad?

One last point Mr. Romney, If you care so much about the "middle class" as you claim or my bad, you meant EVERYONE, then why sign Mr. Norquist's pledge that only benefits the top 1%??? You see that's where I draw the line. You CLAIM you want to be the President but WHO are you going to be the President of, The United States OR the super wealthy like yourself? REMEMBER REPUBLICANS, Mr. Norquist OWN words, "We just need a empty suit to push and sign our policies that we feel will get this economy going again."

Will YOU be that empty suit Mr. Romney?

Yea, remember how Obama EVOLVED on that whole gay marriage thing?

You people MUST be in denial!

A move from extremely tolerant to supportive is only an inch compared to the moves Mitt continues to make.

Mitt "was an extreme right Governor" with absolute views on virtually everything, then showed up in the first debate denying it all and "liking" everything. He went from extreme right to almost center left as a matter of convenience and manipulation.

So where is Mitt, really? Actually, I think I know him. I've run into the "Mitts"of the world maybe a dozen times in my career... a numbers guy when needed, as long as the numbers are his... a quick decider, too quick... impatient... bullying... telling... never listens... always dismissive... and never considers people as anything but assets to be hired, fired, transferred, or otherwise depreciated.

Yep, that's the Mitt I know. So I admit that I recognized him from the day I heard him speak. I knew I could never support or even tolerate this guy no matter what came out of his mouth. I hated the Mitts as business partners. I watched them pull people apart... leaving bodies in their wake... saying whatever the f@#k they needed to say. To them, people were a bother... much more trouble than they were worth.

Yep, that's the Mitt I know.

Please. If you're voting for this guy, take another close look at him before you do. Be sure you know what you're letting us in for... for this guy has the capability of serious harm. We all know him now.

Romnesia is a great catch phrase. It describes his flip in both policy and vision to a tee. But is doesn't describe Romney's soul. His soul was exposed in the second debate when he got angry. we all saw it. Grace under fire is NOT Mitt Romney. Look at the tapes. Look at the look on his face and in his eyes when he found out he was wrong on the President's Libya statement. Furious. Dismissive. Unreasonable. Physical. Demeaning. Unpresidential.

brutaltruth

Ever get a job from a poor person?

In life everything has value. From the top to the bottom, we ALL have worth.

Yes, we need jobs right now. Yes, we need people to make money, invest in business, and to hire people. Workers need employers and employers need good workers.

But the answer is not to overreact and give away the tax farm to the rich in hopes that they will be so kind to provide jobs. The rich got richer by 13% during this recession. Having the money to spend is NOT the problem. The problem is demand.

Without going into all the dynamics, just remember that the middle class is the fuel for the prosperity of the rich. The middle class creates the demand that creates the opportunity for us all. We should be kissing the a$$ of the middle class... their confidence in the system and the leadership will ultimately drive the day... not more dollars in off-shore accounts.

Mitt -- stop your endless whining. Yes -- Preaident Obama approves a lot of negative ads -- just like you do.

You guys on the right just love dishing it out, just love making fun of the left, just love insulting them and name calling (communist, Marxist, socialist, anti-American, lazy, etc.) but when even the slightest volley is fired back at you --- here comes the outrage, the whining, the “those liberals are so nasty” routine. Sorry right wing --- he real glue holding this movement together isn't taxes, abortion, any of that. The real glue --- what you ALL have in common is your sense of victimization and your unending hypocrisy.

Why should Romney have to explain his tax plan. Here is one reason.

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/10/19/1052511/romney-model-tax-middle-class/

It is not that hard to figure your taxes under his plan. It's bad enough that no reliable tax study has said it will work. I know my taxes will go up. I still am a bit unclear on how reducing the tax rates by 20% and collecting the same amount of revenue is going to change anything. Even if we were to have extraordinary growth in GDP, that money needs to be applied to the deficit, not redistributed upward.

It would be nice to see his taxes so we can determine how much he will save. That would be an eye opener for the American public.

I guess Romnesia is a polite way to point out that Romney is a pathetic liar that cannot remember his last lie so therefore he tells another. That's ironic because it's always been the Republicans philosophy over the last 20 years to repeat the same lie over and over until people start believing it as truth. The problem with that philosophy is that even they lose track of the real truth.

Based on Romney's record at Bain, as president he would outsource our military to be handled by China to reduce cost. How can anyone believe with his past record he would create jobs here in America when all he did at Bain was to send all jobs he could to China and still does it today?

Romney wants to eliminate estate tax and lower capital gains tax even more. All the things that would give him and his family more money at the expense of the federal deficit. Am I the only that sees Romney as a selfish egotistical parasite that preys on the unfortunate but when it come time for him to pay his fair share of taxes he plans to evade them? This man is the lowest type of greedy sleaze ball that cares nothing about the lower income people as evident by saying they pay no taxes and want handouts yet he makes multimillion dollars and doesn't want to pay ANY taxes. All those that don't make over $250,000 that would vote for him are fools. He does not care about you and will do nothing for you. In fact he would make your live harder by passing the tax burden onto you and your family for generations. Think.

OBAMA PROMISE Shovel ready jobs, back to the brick & mortar ideals this country was built on. Where are the Shovel ready jobs? Is brick & mortar ideals payoffs to all his fundraising buddies with Billions of $$$ in so called stimulus. In the last debate he said " I want to bring back the well paying jobs, the Chinese can keep those cheap labor jobs."

The statement above just goes to show how clueless Obama really is. Those cheap labor jobs are the shovel ready, brick & mortar jobs that are necessary. Why can't people grasp the fact that things like minimum wage increase, etc are just a temporary fix which inflats everything around it. When Minimum wage is $10/hr. what will be a well paying job or how about $20/hr. Has anybody payed attention to the price of a hamburger? It has nothing to do with minimum wage increases, we all know that it is those evil cattle raisers, cattle haulers, meat processors, packers, delivery trucks and drivers, stockers, cooks and servers fault. The bun and all the trimming have no bearing on the price because they just fell from the sky. How does McD's still have a dollar hamburger?

Boycott grocery stores they charge too much for what fills their magical sheves.

Living Wage? What the hell is that? It to is like the minimum wage, what was today isn't tomorrow. Surviving is a living wage. The toys are extra.

"This Clown, Mitt Romney, is a known psychopathic Liar, an Admitted Tax-Cheat and a probable Felon"

More crap from the followers of obama.

"Mitt and Anne Romney are an odd couple -

Mitt suffers from Romnesia,

his wife suffer from Annesia?

they don't belong here in America,

off they go and ...

move to Polynesia."

And still more crap from the followers of obama. You guys crack me up. You talk of Romney attacking obama, while obama makes his remarks and that is ok with you right? Bunch of hypocrites. Must be tough to wake up every morning to read, watch or listen to whichever ridiculously biased news you get, and then feel the need to spin into some type of excuse about good you think he is doing. Failure, that is all you can say. The guy you picked failed. What did you think would happen? I have to say obama is a talker and can give a good speech, but that doesn't get the job done. No business experience, no Governor experience, a junior Senator at best, no CEO experience, never put a budget together or be held accountable. What did you think would happen?

I agree with HopeyChangyFeely - "you people are scary"

It is not the blind followers of obama that scare me, they can't help it and are unable to see things for what they are. It is the followers that now have that nagging voice in the back of their mind that says "it's over", he gave a good speech and we bought it but if failed. They see obama and the failures and in trying to save face for picking the loser they continue supporting Egotistical/Narcissist.

Larry - "Based on Romney's record at Bain, as president he would outsource our military to be handled by China to reduce cost."

What evidence, proof or resources do you have for this insanely ridiculous comment? Any at all?

"How can anyone believe with his past record he would create jobs here in America when all he did at Bain was to send all jobs he could to China and still does it today?"

Again, any proof of this other than what occurs in the business world when companies are bought out? When companies are failing, they either recover, go bankrupt and restructure, shut the doors or....wait for it.....can sell to anyone who wishes to buy the failing business. Not all business ventures survive. Before you hammer Romney on business ventures, ask obama how he did with Solyndra, or the other three clean energy picks of his that not only failed or are failing, but screwed the taxpayers in the process. I'm sure that slipped your mind when making that comment right?

I guess Obama is now trying to pass himself off as a doctor. Its probably a good idea since with every day more and more people are realizing that he certainly is no president. Maybe he’s even got a medical degree locked up somewhere with the rest of his academic records.

I don’t expect he’ll produce that degree but he did coin a new affliction - “Romnesia”. Pretty catchy, almost as catchy as "hope and change" and "yes we can". The term may be new but the affliction certainly isn’t. It was first diagnosed in 2008 when Obama started displaying its symptoms, even as the rest of us have suffered its effects. Remember “I’ll cut the deficit in half my first term”, “I’ll get unemployment down to 6%”, “I will have the most transparent administration in history”? My favorite though is “I’ll bring the country together”.

We understand Mr. president. You are suffering from an ailment. Time to take your medicine. Go home to Chicago where Valerie Jarrett, Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice and Candy Crowley can protect you from further exposing your inadequacies.

The hatred from both sides is heating up the nearer we get to Election day,but it would be more productive to just state what are objective from either platforms. As far as I am concerned,my complaints of Romney is his lack of one. I see where his dilemma comes in. He is a conservative Republican without too many smarts who considers that with his money that he deserves to be chief,as he is in business, where no underling dares to contradict him and thinks that he could do a great job. His problem is that his base is the far right of the Republican Party so he is continually pandering to his base and trying to reassure the rest of his prospective voters that he is a centralist. That is the main reason that he can't run on any program and appears to be uncertain of his true philosophy, which he is,in my opinion devoid of. I do not state my opinion of his opponent as I agree with his attempts to advance our society into a great one. I am a Liberal Democrat.

Just in case you needed any further persuasion that Barack Obama’s carping about Mitt Romney’s finances is both stupid and hypocritical, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul noted on Tuesday that Obama himself has accepted six figures’ worth of political donations from executives of Bain Capital, Mitt Romney’s old investment firm.

“President Obama has based his entire reelection campaign on a vicious, dishonest assault on Mitt Romney’s business career. The real question for President Obama is this: if Bain Capital is so bad, why have you taken nearly $120,000 in donations from them? President Obama’s actions are the height of hypocrisy,” Saul declared.

The precise total is $118,121, and Obama has been taking that Bain money ever since he ran for the Senate. Furthermore, as noted by ABC News, “One of Obama’s top campaign financiers – Jonathan Lavine – is also managing director at Bain, bundling between $100,000 and $200,000 in contributions for the 2012 Obama Victory Fund, according to estimates released by the Obama campaign.” Humorously, Lavine is also the executive who is actually responsible for some of the decisions Obama has most stridently hammered Romney for, even though they were decisions made after Romney left the company.

The hypocrisy-soaked response from Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt is hilarious:

“Mitt Romney is the only person campaigning for president who says that during his tenure as a corporate buyout specialist his goal was job creation and that we should evaluate his qualifications for the presidency based on that record,” LaBolt told reporters on a conference call.

“As the president has made clear when he’s discussed this, the job of the President of the United States is to worry about the workers and the livelihoods of middle-class families just as much as it is to worry about profit creation,” he said.

Actually, Mr. LaBolt, the “job of the President of the United States” is neither of those things… and even so, Barack Obama is a hard-core proven failure at both of them. The whole point of the Obama campaign is that the incumbent cannot be “evaluated” based on his “qualifications,” either during his initial run for office, or his re-election campaign. Attempts at such evaluation are generally denounced

Romney graduated at the top of his class; whereas Obama allegedly graduated. When you cannot run on your record the only tactic left is defamation of your opponent.

When you consider the fact that even George Bush and Al Gore released their respective college transcripts in spite of the fact that they were average students it has to make you wonder how far down the list Obama ended up when all was said and done.

I really do not know who is worst; Obama, or those that voted for him in 2008. Six trillion dollars in additional debt within a single four year term is indefensible; especially when you consider the fact that the majority of job losses realised since 2008 happened the day after Obama was elected.

I know, I'll look at the largest newspaper's endorsement in Mormon Country, Salt Lake City, were the Olympics that Romney saved were held.

Let's see, Romney doesn't deserve a chance to be President, because of his courting the Tea-Bag and the religious right vote, and his constant shape shifting on policy.

    ***************************

Well, this must be awkward. The Salt Lake Tribune, the paper of record in Salt Lake City — which is also the city with the largest Mormon population in the country — has just gone and endorsed Barack Obama rather than fellow Mormon Mitt Romney. In an editorial, the paper praises and thanks Romney for his outstanding work in 2002, when the Olympics, organized by Romney, showed the world the city's best. But the editors say it was Romney's "shape shifting" during the nomination process, from courting the Tea Party to the GOP's far-right contingent that made them wary of the candidate. The paper calls Obama's leadership "decisive," and says he has earned a second term, whereas Romney "does not deserve a first." [http://now.msn.com/salt-lake-tribune-endorses-obama/

Another example of Romnesia is Romney's jobs record as governor of Massachusetts. According to the nonpartisan Mass. Budget and Policy Center's 9-3-06 report:

Massachusetts is just one of nine states that failed to register a net gain in employment between the start of the national recession in March 2001 and June 2006; it is one of only six states that failed to register a net employment gain between the end of the recession in November 2001 and June 2006. In fact, of the states in these two groups, only Michigan and Louisiana have experienced deeper job losses than Massachusetts since 2001.

Romney did a lousy job at creating jobs in Massachusetts and you won't hear him talking about that. It is no wonder he is down 20 points in Massachusetts.

Dishonesty in the business community related to all those fraudulent mortgage securities misled the Fed's experts about the severity of our financial crisis in the Summer of 2008, preventing them from being more aggressive in taking more action. This dishonesty led to the crisis in the banking industry that resulted in Bush's $700 billion bank bailout and a deep recession with 800,000 jobs lost per month and -8.5% growth in 4th quarter 2008.

Now, we have a man running on his business record, because he can't run on his record as Governor. He shifts his position on his economic plan, tax cut plan, $2 trillion increase in defense spending (?)and lies about Medicaid and Medicare and what his positions were last month.

Do we really need a businessman, who has shown us how dishonest he can be, to be President?

This is all Obama, the Democratic Party, and his liberal supporters have to offer. Petty word games and personal attacks is all that is left for Obama to try and con his way to four more years. No record of success to run on, and no agenda for the next four years. With Obama going south in the polls it appears time to dumb down his campaign with his little made up words. This is about as pathetic as it gets for an incumbent president. Obama is setting a new low for incumbents that have no record to run on. It is hard to imagine how Obama could make himself look less presidential.

Google: "Business Insider Obama Plan for Second Term".

First link is for the Business Insider article about his second term, and step by step what his released plan is going to be. In addition, Washing Post has released information on what Obama plans to do in his second term.

So before you guys start spouting off about what Obama hasn't released, do some research first before you make yourselves look foolish. The President has released more info about his second term plans then Gov. Romney has for his first term.

There is really not much else to say about a guy who has offered no substantive plan of his own. What are you going to say about a guy who has taken all sides of just about every position? Debating Romney is like debating a bowl of jello. His big debate tactic in the first debate was to say 'nuh-uh' to everything he'd been saying on the campaign trail.

What do you think he really believes? I think the stuff he said behind closed doors is most likely what he really believes. Half the country are takers with no responsibility. There is nothing we can do about the Isreal/Palestine problem. He'd love to find a foreign policy opening to tie Obama to Carter. Etc.

That last one he's working hard on right now. Have you noticed how many times he's mentioned the late 70's? Yeah, that's the real Mitt Romney.

I have heard most all of them from Romney..and as yet to hear him make trhe same statements to different groups. Got to love how liberals have to use a link to some website where you can supposedly find out what Obama has planned for the second term. Of course you would never know that Obama has any plans for a second term listening to him on the campaign trail, his speeches are nothing but petty schoolyard trash talk. Hardly presidential. If Obama really had a plan, he would be pushing it at every stop. Instead we get scare tactics, blame, and excuses for all his failings, but nothing about how bright the future would be if he gets re-elected. Obama is plummeting in the polls because people are tired of the rhetoric, the attacks, and the broken promises. Obama has nothing to run on, so he is doing his best to con his way into a second term. Obama is running a pretty pathetic campaign by any stretch of the imagination, and that is why he is 0-1-1 in debates, and the best he can finish is 0-1-2. Romney will continue to surge in the polls, and win this going away.

Nice how they project their own flawed strategy as an accusation, eh? They've been running solely on baseless insults and accusations of Obama since 2009.

Odumbo, Obamao, Obammy, etc etc etc etc. He's a Kenyan Muslim with a fake birth certificate. He's a SOSHULIST OMG he wants to destroy America!

We all remember the non-stop loony attacks. That's all I've heard from the trolls for 3 years on the Vine. Now Obama points out Romney's high level of lying ability with the term "Romnesia" and they all cry about it.

Hypocritical babies. Maybe don't nominate serial liars with no conscience, then you won't get nicknames like Romnesia and Lyin' Ryan.

It is hard to imagine how Obama could make himself look less presidential.

Not really...all he'd have to do is simply emulate Mitt Romney.

Petty attacks for a petty target. Mitt Romney has had many opportunities to lay out his fiscal plans, and the best he was able to come with was, "Trust me, I know how to balance a budget. Of course my numbers will add up." If you want a substantive debate, Governor, you need to bring some substance to the table.

For those who truly care about the future of this country - It would be behoove you to watch the movie: 2016: Obama's America. It is an eye opener. It is there you will find an agenda that is not within the frame work of our founding fathers.

Some may choose to take issue with it - and even try to dispute it - but the "CHANGE" will be noted there.

Personally? I much prefer the country as it was established. The one that American's have fight and died for. It was built by Americans.

Don't make their service and ultimate sacrifices in vain.

    Romney/Ryan?

    Unemployment and new jobs creation

On average, unemployment rates were slightly worse in the rest of the nation than in Massachusetts for the first three years of Romney's term.[59][62] By his final year in office, the state was struggling to keep pace with the rate of falling unemployment nationwide.[59]

Massachusetts' national ranking leapt from the 29th highest in unemployment when Romney took office to the 18th by the end of his term.[59]Unemployment in Massachusetts rose during Romney's first year from a rate of 5.6 percent in January 2003, when he took office, to a peak of 6.0 percent in mid 2003.

[66] It then steadily declined over the remainder of his term, ending at 4.6 percent in January 2007,[66] his last month as governor, for a net improvement in unemployment of 1.0 percent.[59] Much of the improvement in unemployment during Romney's first three years in office reflected the loss of working-age adults from the labor force,[62][67] many of them having left Massachusetts for other states during the period.[68][62] Massachusetts experienced one of the highest levels of net out-migration of any state during Romney's term.

Analysis: By invoking the powers of Willard (Romnesia) Romney's "magic amulet"- it will work so long as the majority of US Citizens move to another country.

Paul Ryan-Bow and Arrow Over-Taxation Repealed!

Ryan became the ranking Republican member of the House Budget Committee in 2007,[56] then chairman in 2011 after Republicans took control of the House. That same year he was selected to deliver the Republican response to the State of the Union address.[57]

Official U.S. Congress portrait of Ryan in 2011

During his 13 years in the House, he has sponsored some 71 bills or amendments,[58] of which two were ultimately enacted into law.[59] One, passed in July 2000, renamed a post office in Ryan's district; the other, passed in December 2008, lowered the excise tax on arrow shafts.[60][61] Ryan has also co-sponsored 975 bills[59] of which 176 have passed.[62] 22 percent of these bills were originally sponsored by Democrats; the average for Republicans is 19 percent.[59] In 2010, Ryan was a member of the bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (Bowles-Simpson Commission), which was tasked with developing a plan to reduce the federal deficit. He voted against the final report of the commission.[63]

While Democrats assail presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital business practices, Republicans note that President Obama has not been bashful about accepting cash from Bain executives or other high-profile figures in the corporate buyout business.

“President Obama has based his entire reelection campaign on a vicious, dishonest assault on Mitt Romney’s business career. The real question for President Obama is this: if Bain Capital is so bad, why have you taken nearly $120,000 in donations from them?” said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul. “President Obama’s actions are the height of hypocrisy.”

Obama and his re-election campaign have been hammering Romney for reaping huge profits at the helm of Bain, while companies in which the firm invested went bankrupt, laid off workers or outsourced jobs overseas.

“Romney and his partners put payments to themselves and their partners first, before anything else,” David Foster, a former union leader at Bain-owned GST Steel, which later went bankrupt, told reporters on a conference call.

“I was the one who had to tell [the laid off workers] that Bain had broken its promises, underfunded their pensions and that they were on their own,” he said, noting that Bain had devastated families and real lives.

And, really, is this your Republican party, who stand by and watch Sensata be outsourced to China?

Your candidate, Myth Robme, stands to make millions (behind the scenes as usual) as Bain closes this very profitable plant in Freeport Il. The plant even had to train the Chinese who would replace them! Myth Robme hasn't even got the cajones to show up and (pie crust) promise these workers jobs like he does the rest of US — of course as a hopeless chicken hawk he never had any to begin with, eh?

So, really, ye puffed up Grand Obstructionist Poopies, is this the way you take care of American workers? Do you look forward to seeing this being repeated all across the nation?

No word games here, just the sad truth of Myth Robme's values at work on gutting the 47%, or the 98%, whatever the etchy-sketchy says.

Except that Romney's inconsistency on virtually every important issue is one of the real issues, Ido. Just what is it that he believes? How do we know? As governor of Mass., he supported Roe v. Wade. Now he wants abortion outlawed. He gave us the kind of health care mandates in Obamacare. Now he wants to get rid of them. And there has to be some reason all the billionaires are pouring millions into his campaign. What did he promise them? Romnesia fits.

It takes longer to rebuild than it does to destroy! Being stupid is wanting to return to the same GOP policy makers who gave us the recession!

When Dumbya left the White House, job losses were at 750,000 per month. He brought this country to its knees and tanked the Stock Market down to the 7,000's. Now, the Republican donors of this homeless soup kitchen are mad, and they are asking for their money back for their donations to this soup kitchen. Romnesia is a very fitting description of Mitt Romney's recent memory.

How long has it been since he said he supported the Ryan budget which would gut Medicaid and turn Social Security into a voucher program? Now, he runs from its specifics.

How long has it been since Romney was severely conservative?

How long has it been since he said he would cut taxes for the rich?

How long has it been since he said he would increase defense spending by $2 trillion over next 10 years?

How long has it been since he said he supported the Personhood bill which would outlaw abortion and severely limit some contraceptive methods?

Mitt Romney just can't remember these positions. He must be suffering from Romnesia. Many of his followers also suffer from Romnesia. Its very sad...this Romnesia. Romnesia is bad for truth and integrity in government.

Most of us deserve better than a candidate suffering from Romnesia.

The first debate we had Big Bird.

The second debate, as Romney swooped in, totally unaware that he was walking into his own trap, we had Big Burned.

Hahahaha, the look on his face when he realized he set himself up and couldn't get out of it was priceless.

THIS is why the man is too stupid for the job. He was the only one watching that didn't know where it was going.

The GOP has backed themselves into a corner. They are so far extreme right they can't get back to the middle unless Romney makes a fool out of himself and his policies. We can balance the budget with a reasonable GOP and DNC. We can pass job bills that will move us out of this depression started by the GOP! We can get this economy booming if the GOP GETS OUT OF THE WAY!

And what will a second Obama term look like? Remember, be specific.

Someone said that Obama would continue the recovery, and I had to laugh. First, that's not very specific. Second, after four more years of an Obama recovery, unemployment might be down to 6.5%, and that's if we don't fall back into a recession.

Which reminds me, is Obama proposing any idea to deal with the "fiscal cliff" that is going to hit on January 1st? How do you think that will affect this "recovery?"

And what will Obama's specifically do if the fiscal cliff does send us into another recession? I can do a lot better than specific; I can tell you exactly what Obama will do. He will do what he always does. He will blame republicans.

"Change We Can Believe In." It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Yeah, Bob, we can only hope the hopey-changey crowd will stay hungover and sleep late on election day, then wonder why their welfare and/or other handout checks don't show up in late January after Bozobama loses big in November. At least after Romney wins, we can have an adult with real-world business experience in office, rather than an inexperienced rabble-rouser. Maybe Michelle can plant an herb garden back in Chicago.

That is Liar Romneys middle name "PETTY". Romney is like the pot calling the kettle black. Practice what you and Ryan preach, you lieing pieces of doo doo. I did my dasterdly deed and voted for The President, Obama, and yes I am proud of it. The rich are rich enough and that includes that worthless Romney. Romneys only desire is to make himself and his 1%er buddies richer. Hell with the rest of us, is his motto.

It won't change that Romney tried to sneak in his peek at the future of 0% capital gains. That would mean he would pay nothing in taxes which is clearly a lie when he tries to back it up by stating it won't change what the top 1% pays now. Only fools couldn't see thru his lies and what to expect by voting for him. He has been trying to play off this, he is for the middle class, when it is the middle class he will take it from for more tax breaks for the top 1% and still not tie any tax breaks to actually making jobs in America. Ask any of the top 1% if they would make a job without having to do anything but collect, and if honest, they would tell you, why would I unless it was required to get the break.

GetSmarter: That is a brilliant user id, because you really do need to get smarter. People make a mistake when they begin to see tax policy as a means for enforcing some standard of fairness. This guy is rich, and that guy is poor, so it's "fair" to make the first guy give his money to the government. The only legitimate purpose of taxation is to fund government.

Beyond that, tax policy should be designed to minimize interference with private sector investment. That is what the lower capital gains tax rate is all about. We want people to invest, so we incentivize investment with a lower tax on investment gains. Failure to incentivize investment will have implications that go far beyond the so called 1%.

Romney won't discuss his record in Massachusetts (except to lie), he won't discuss his business experience at Bain, and he still hasn't come clean on his taxes.

                            Absolutely. Nothing.

On top of that, he now trails Obama in his home state of Massachusetts by 30 POINTS.
And just today, the Salt Lake Tribune (in Utah), the largest Mormon owned newspaper in the world refused to endorse Romney, and instead endorsed Obama for reelection - http://tinyurl.com/8dlprcb

It's interesting to note a few things. In Massachusetts, where Mitt was a one term governor, the Romney/Ryan is down by over 19 points ---more than any other state in the union. In Michigan where Mitt's father was governor, the Romney Ryan ticket is down by 5 points. In Wisconsin, Ryan's home state, the Romney/Ryan ticket is also down by 5%. It seems the people who know these two the best -- don't want them to win.

Mitt or Obama well people I'm feeling more Obama now. I just just don't know wish way the man Romney will go. He scares me, and I don't like to be scared with my vote.

Brian, What should scare you is the fact that this president has given Amnesty to 1.7 Million Illegal Immigrants allowing them to remain in this country. Who pays for that Brian? I'll tell you-- its the conservative and liberal middle class taxpayers, thats who. How does allowing People---- here illegally to begin with----- by giving AMNESTY, help the Middle class taxpayer, (conservative and liberal) find work?.IT DOESN'T. Yes friend, just what I want. 4 more years of THIS GUY who takes the oath of office as president to uphold OUR constitution, not upholding it. That's why we have had all Veterans of ALL wars fight and die, So ---HE---- can give the freedom and country away. thats only part of his policies and that's what scares me. .

Is that the same kind of amnesty Reagan granted to 3 million in 1987?

I agree Romney is scary..I think a president should be decisive, open-minded and even-tempered to serve in the White House. Romney appears to be very controlling, must get the last word but very in decisive about what positions he would take. He also appears to lack integrity which is not good for the American people....

No one is pettier than Romney. WHEN is he going to present his plan for healthcare, education and the economy? Are people actually voting for NO plan and trusting Romney not to screw them over as soon as he steps into the Oval office? We have seen Pres. Obama's agenda over the last 3.5 year.

                              Where are Romney's details?

Exactly. That is why the Republican talking point (as dictated by Frank Luntz) is to accuse the Obama administration of "having no plan".

When you are deficient in something, accuse the other side of the very weakness that is your own.

Anybody can see that President Obama's plan is to continue the recovery and help us American people.

I visited Utah and the Mormons are good and decent people. Wish more Americans were like them. What the Salt Lake City newspaper saw was the lies Romney tells and they also know that he is a hypocrite with his investments in things the Mormon opposes like tobacco...But what's more disturbing is that Romney has sold half the country on his business experience. HE HAS STRETCHED THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS BUSINESS SUCCESS AT BAIN CAPITAL. DURING HIS TENURE, HE MADE 68 INVESTMENT DEALS AND 33 OF THEM FAILED. BAIN BECAME SUCCESSFUL AFTER HE LEFT. HE IS ALSO CLAIMING THAT HE CREATED JOBS. HE WAS MERELY A FINANCIAL INVESTOR. HE NEVER A MANAGER OF A COMPANY THAT GREW FROM GROUND UP. IT WAS THE MANAGEMENT TEAMS OF COMPANIES LIKE STAPLES WHO GREW THEIR COMPANIES AND MADE DECISIONS, NOT ROMNEY...AND ROMNEY IS TAKING THE CREDIT FOR THESE PEOPLE. HE SHOULD ONLY BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE 10 PEOPLE HE HIRED AT BAIN.

What is petty about asking Romney to show us the math on how he plans on cutting the deficit, when he aims to please, using the same tax cut stragedy as Bush? What is so petty about calling Mitt a liar when Mitt won't show anyone where he finds the numbers, arithmetic and other "facts" about what is going on in this country.

I can tell you where he got his 'plan'. 17 out of 24 of his advisers were recycled former Bush administration advisers.

Yeah, he says he doesn't want to go back to the Bush years, but he has an odd way of demonstrating that.

pay no attention to those men behind the curtain......I was so hoping that President Obama had pointed that out in the debate when the woman asked how he was different than President Bush. Obama should have pointed out that he's recycled 17 out of 24 of the Bush folks. Really, people want to back to that? Really? I hope this comes up on Monday and it is made clear who Romney's advisors are and how frightening that really is.

"Through a closely held equity fund called Solamere, Mitt Romney and his wife, son and brother are major investors in an investment firm called H.I.G. Capital. H.I.G. in turn holds a majority share and three out of five board members in Hart Intercivic, a company that owns the notoriously faulty electronic voting machines that will count the ballots in swing state Ohio November 7. Hart machines will also be used elsewhere in the United States.

In other words, a candidate for the presidency of the United States, and his brother, wife and son, have a straight-line financial interest in the voting machines that could decide this fall's election. These machines cannot be monitored by the public. But they will help decide who "owns" the White House."

I'm a SoCalGal and while we use the InkaVote system, the ballots are scanned with optical scanners, the kind that are notoriously glitchy and easily tampered.

Hand-counted paper ballots...we need to go back to those and get our elections out of the hands of private companies.

This is the Romney campaign's oldest strategy - playing the "unbecoming" card. He said it to Jane Swift in the Mass. Gov. debates (it worked) and also re Biden a few day's ago. Petty is not Presidential. As a left leaning independent who's deceiving polls re my vote, I hope a Romney lead in the polls will help to get out the vote for the President. I'd would take this tactic seriously.

The GOP has adopted a "Wag the Dog" approach. Remember that movie ?

The day after Obama was elected, the GOP machine waged war on his presidency, just like with Clinton. It is un American.

Do not know what I am talking about ? Grover and the systematic stone walling ?

When the GOP shakes loose the grip from the devil then our country in this great land will be better served. Why intelligent people, GOP elected officials sell their souls to self serving fools, I do not and cannot understand. As they put the squeeze on moderates and force them out, Like Senator Snow, they drive the nation toward a darker future.

So in that regard, the Dems currently represent a more balanced and reasonable future for the country.

We cannot bankrupt the nation for the defense industry. It undermines the security of our country. Same for the health care industry. Same for Banking.

                                  Blah blah blah.

We hold these truths to be self evident.

I can hardly wait for election night. As it stands it appears Romney will be our next president. If he continues to make the same gains as he has over the course of the past few weeks he will win be a large margin. We can go back and forth all night and it really doesn’t matter. The left will continue to attack Romney for being wealthy and binders and big bird and big world problems like that and the right will continue to attack Obama on failed foreign policies and the worst economy in decades. We will never change each other’s minds, the only thing that really matters is election night and I am feeling pretty confident Obama will lose the election.

The Real Clear Politics Electoral Map now shows Mitt Romney in the lead for the very first time ever. With North Carolina moving from “Tossup” to “Leans Romney”, Mitt now takes the lead in electoral votes 206 to 201. Before NC’s 15 EVs were moved into his column, the map showed Obama up by 10. Now he is down by 5.

that map does not account for any of the toss up states. When you include them and where they sit as of today, Obama is still ahead:

                                    also from 538blog:

                                    Obama's chances of winning: 67.9%

                                    Romney's chances of winngs: 32.1%

                                    Intrade chances:

                                    O: 69.1%

Obama is still the favorite 2 to 1 at this time.

                                    With no toss-ups on RCP:

MarkM012757 You're smoking crack dude. It's true what they say about Fox News viewers. They know less than if they didn't watch any news at all. Obama will win by a landslide!

Obama has a 68% chance of winning? I wonder how many relatives in Ohio those people that used to work at Sensata have? Will they be petty about losing their jobs and call everyone to tell them to vote Democratic?

They looked pretty upset on television tonight.
