FORT MYERS, Fla. – Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan used President Bill Clinton’s own words Thursday against President Barack Obama.
“Just today, President Bill Clinton said it is true that our economy is not fixed. He is right,” Ryan said at an outdoor rally at Lee County Sports Complex field.
Clinton was campaigning for Obama in Ohio with rocker Bruce Springsteen when he said: “Governor Romney’s argument is, ‘We’re not fixed, so fire him and put me in.’ It is true, we’re not fixed. When President Obama looked into the eyes of that man who said in the debate, ‘I had so much hope four years ago and I don’t now,’ I thought he was going to cry because he knows that it’s not fixed."
Back in Southwest Florida, Congressman Ryan addressed nearly 3,600 people and cited other “revealing things” Obama and his allies have said lately.
“You know what? If the president can’t fix Washington from the inside; if the middle class has been buried for the last four years; and if the economy is not fixed, it is time we change presidents and elect Mitt Romney the next president of the United States.”
President Obama’s campaign shot back at Ryan’s portrayal of Clinton’s remarks.
“In Ohio today, President Clinton powerfully articulated the progress we’re making under President Obama – we’ve created 5.2 million private sector jobs over the last 31 months, the unemployment rate is at its lowest level since January 2009, consumer confidence is at a five-year high, and foreclosures are at a five-year low,” campaign spokesman Danny Kanner said in a statement. “But, as President Clinton noted, we simply can’t afford to go back to the same failed policies that brought our economy to the brink of collapse in the first place – and that’s exactly what Mitt Romney’s offering.”
Friday, Ryan will continue campaigning in the Sunshine State holding events in Tampa and a joint event with Mitt Romney in Daytona Beach.

The part that drives me nuts is the way the whine about how President Obama isn't reaching across or fixing Washington,...all the while they are doubling down on their intention to NOT broker in good faith. They meet to make CERTAIN he is a one termer. They seem to get away with rhetoric that doesn't match their own actions.

Why is the 7% GOP failed congress getting a free pass??? No one brings them up.

Saying that the Democrats had a "Majority" doesn't count as “control”, because we all know the GOP had the "CONTROL" with their record filibusters and obstructions.
Remind the Republicans that "Total Control" is having a "Filibuster proof majority". The Democrats only had it for 6 months. After Teddy died, the Republicans went on a filibuster frenzy and BLOCKED everything.

The INTEREST on the GOP TRILLIONS of debt is NOT for Obama to be responsible for either, it is GOP spending too.

Do not add policies before Reagan because there was NO DEBT PROBLEM before that, Reagan took office when the DEBT had ONE TRILLION and could have been tackled and fixed with comprehensive tax reform but Reagan did the opposite..
“Entitlements” are a tiny fraction of the debt and they always bring their own revenues through payroll deductions as premium payments. Entitlements are NOT free, it's paid-into insurance.
All those failed GOP policies were drafted by Republicans AND all passed with GOP majority of votes going back to Reagan.
The Republicans will NEVER have policies or numbers to blame on the Democrats because they DO NOT exist.

I often wonder how Mr. Obama faces his children when HE FINALLY GETS BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE after thousands of miles of "Degrade and Deflect" campaigning.
We all know that what are stated as facts above are not entirely true. Yes, Obama has done good. Yes, Obama has done bad. Romney will be the same way if he is elected. I do not see that much difference between the two candidates except one promising to bring down the national deficit and the other adding to it. I am willing to give the Republican candidate a chance this time. I am not better off than 4 years ago. While many are better off, my congratulations to them. I worry more about the debt my children and their children are going to have to pay back to get out of financial slavery to the national debt.

Tax cuts are temporary measures. The Bush tax cuts DID stimulate the economy. But once provided, they could not be allowed to expire without unstimulating (is that a word?) the economy and, if left in place, do nothing but add to the deficit.
So sure! Let's double down on stupid and do a 20% cut... and trust us, it will not raise taxes on the middle class and will not "lower the share that the rich pay today" (you fools)... and let's just go to zero for capital gains... has to be the most ignorant fact-free economic plan ever presented.
If Romney gets his way with his "plan" you will see money flow out and away from our economy faster than you can imagine... you'll see virtually ALL profits go to executive pockets in the form of capital gains INSTEAD of expansion or jobs.
So go ahead Ryan... use your clever quips. It's all you got to cover your bull@!$%#.

The Orlando Sentinel has endorsed Romney. This is big in the state of Florida because the liberal paper endorsed Obama in 2008.
Obama is trailing in the polls as people are tired of the blame, the excuses, and the over the top rhetoric, with Biden leading the way on that front. Only liberals can justify someone as out of touch as Biden. There has been few vice presidents that are worse then Biden, or as ill prepared to take the step up if needed. Biden has spent his life giving to himself from the taxpayers piggy bank, and he will never be anything but a problem for this country. Neither Obama or Biden care about the American people, they offer no plan for the future, and their whole campaign is about staying in power and nothing about solving the problems they help to create. Obama constantly have used one time (temporary) tax cuts. Short term thinking is what has been the failure.
Romney's promises to cut the deficit are lies. His plan to give more tax breaks to the rich would cost the U.S. Treasury FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS over ten years. In addition, he wants to increase military spending way over and above what the military has even asked for.
Ask youself how Romney pays for those tax cuts and military spending. It can only come from one place: out of YOUR pocket, and my pocket and everyone else's middle class pockets. Don't be fooled by Romney's lies. He can stand there and promise anything, but his numbers don't add up. He would have to raise taxes on the middle class, and he has even admitted he would take away tax deductions to do it.
You are much better off than you were four years ago! Our country has been brought back from the brink of financial ruin, we have healthcare reform, the stock market is up, bin Laden is dead, our troops are home from Iraq, women have a champion in the White House...I could go on and on.
OK, maybe you still don't have a new refrigerator. Maybe you're still living paycheck to paycheck and haven't saved a lot of money. But we avoided the abyss. Brighter days are ahead. We are moving in the right direction. In Obama's second term, he can accomplish many things that were blocked by congress or that he backed off of to work in a bipartisan way. There is no working with Tea baggers.
Voting for Romney means going backwards, returning to Bush-era trickle-down economic policies. How well did that trickle-down work for you?
Romney 'promises' to decrease our national debt, but the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has reported that federal spending, taxes, and deficits are lower today than when Obama took office. Romney's plan would balloon the deficit.
Look into it...don't take my word for it, and most certainly do not take Romney at his word.

Yes, and that's my point. The only stimulus Congress would approve were the Bush tax cuts. And although most economists don't like tax cuts as stimulus, Obama supported them because allowing them to expire would be an "unstimulus" to the economy. They have long lost their stimulus effect and should be allowed to expire as soon as the economy will allow so they do not contribute to the debt anymore.

But until then that is the way of doing business and a compnay survives a little longer or actually gets stronger and survives for years to come. If you run into hard times and sell something to a person who has the money to buy it from you so you can buy your next meal, is that person wrong to sell your item for a profit? Hell no they aren't. It is Medicaid that provides for long term care for the elderly who need full care for dementia, Parkinson and other conditions where they can no longer be cared for by families in their homes.
The Democrats are the ones who will continue these programs for seniors and strengthen them for for the future.
I am a Democrat and these are vital programs for the middle and working class citizens.

Romney/ryan want to change those programs which will eventually weaken them and they will collapse on their own. In this election I was at first looking for an alternate choice. Then one day I realized that I was buying to a bunch of crap that being deceptively spread by the republican party. That was the day that Rand Paul endorsed Romney. Ron Paul suddenly became evident that he was put in the primaries to sway the pissed off democrats to vote republican. So i took another look at obama and I found that most of his investments were in US treasury bonds. If Obama invests in the treasury bonds that must mean that he wants the US economy to grow, that he was betting on it, and that since Romney placed his money overseas and outsourced jobs when he was at bain capital. Romney is betting against The US economy. In fact he was working to stifle it while lining his pockets. If one is to judge someone else it has to be done by their actions. So I say that it would be safer to bet on Obama than to bet on Romney. The more i watch The Romney/ryan show. I am dumbfounded that anyone would want those men in office.In this country there is a major block voters that will vote republican no matter who is running If their candidate was a serial killer and the republicans nominated him they would vote for him. I come from an all republican family, I am the only democrat in my family and they have been voting that way for the last 60 yrs. They either don't or refuse to realize that the Republican party has changed so much that the party is no longer interested in them they only want their votes. Northstar I think you are a bit confused about Medicare and Medicade. While I am NOT a senior citizen, or elderly, I am a disabled combat vet and FORCED to be on Medicare. So let me share with you are few personal observations of Medicare.
Any person who is on Medicare Part A can at anytime see the doctor for a checkup. You just pay your copay or "deductable" for that visit. The belief that Medicare is "free" is a misnomer. When you become Social Security Eligible, either of retirement age or collecting disability (SSDI), and you opt for Part A, you pay a premium taken directly from your social security check.
Now here is the real rub. The real issue that is often over looked by those who have other medical insurance and are PART A eligable. MOST TIMES if you carry primary insurance, in my case Tri Care, and you DO NOT take the PART A, your primary insurance WILL DROP YOU, leaving you with NO INSURANCE. In many cases, your primary insurer, once you become PART A Eligible becomes a secondary insurer, so IF you have other insurance, you need to speak with your insurer first.
In my case, having a family, I have to carry 3 health insurance providers, Tri Care (for the family), Medicare (because if I opt out, I loose Tri Care) and VA Health as a result of the combat related disability. This of course does not take into account dental insurance. So as you can see, there is more to this than meets the eye.
The other contention and one that truly needs to be considered is "budget cutting". Now while you hear everyone talking about cutting the budget, and crying about that big bad monster defense spending, IF anyone bothered to even look at the breakdown of the Federal Budget, you would know the BIGGEST EXPENSE is Medicare/Medicade/Entitlement Programs comprising 23% of the entire budget at 835 BILLION dollars. Social Security comes in 2nd at 20% of the budget 725 BILLION, Defense comes in 3rd at 19% or 700 Billion, Discretionary Spending 18% at 646 BILLION, other Mandatory Spending 13% for 465 Billion, and finally Interest Payments 6% of the budget 227 Billion Dollars. WITH THESE FIGURES, doesn't it make sense - as you would with your own household budget - look to cut your spending where you spend the most, especially if you can get the same benefit with spending less?
Now in all the Rhetoric and the partisianship, the party politics, the fear mongering (that's right scaring people who rely on thier social security and other entitlement programs) don't you think that it is only FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE to look at ways to dig the country out of the debt it finds itself in? There are easy fixes to some of this stuff, and I think Romney (while I don't necessarily believe he is the complete solution) is trying to step away from "traditional" methods of cost cutting. I would like to hear his plan before making up my mind.
In the end guys ALL of us, have a responsibility, and those of us who have medicare have a bigger responsibility to making sure we are doing what we can to help cut those costs. Simple things like when you get your Nordian sheets take the time to review everything on it. IF you see something that isn't right, contest it. It is no different than when you go to the grocery store. You pay for items, if you didn't get the item or something was rung up twice, it just cost you money. Medicare is the same way. Likewise, if you have the sniffles, you don't necessarily need to go to the ER and have a CatScan done of your leg. It is common sense stuff, but as we all know, common sense isn't so common...
We seniors won't have to worry about Social Security or Medicare if Romney/Ryan are elected. SS will be eliminated and Medicare will become a "voucher" system feeding our tax dollars to private corporations! We MAY worry about the lack of it, however.

In 2011, 20% of Spending is Social Security - During 2010, total benefits of $713 billion were paid out versus income (taxes and interest) of $781 billion, a $68 billion surplus. This annual surplus is credited to Social Security trust funds that hold speciFederal al non-marketable Treasury securities. This surplus amount is commonly referred to as the "Social Security Trust Fund". The proceeds are paid into the U.S. Treasury where they may be used for other government purposes. Also, in looking at the federal budget, 6% of federal spending is spent on what is called Net Interest Spending - Budgeted net interest on the public debt was approximately $251 billion in FY2011 (6% of spending). During FY2011, the government also accrued a non-cash interest expense of $203 billion for intra-governmental debt, primarily the Social Security Trust Fund, for a total interest expense of $454 billion - anotherwords Robbing Peter to Pay Paul like a payday loan scam.
Thus, IF the government would STOP using the Social Security Trust Fund as thier personal "slush" fund and invested a portion of that SSTF in money growth or even just left it alone, each year that fund would expand exponentially. In fact, Social Security in the past 25 years has NEVER not recorded a surplus. So why is there the threat to Social Security? Truthfully there should be NONE. It is the ONLY government entitlement program that actually produces a surplus. It is the ONLY government entitlement program that is actually self sustaining. It is the ONLY true government savings program we have. But that surplus is ALWAYS dipped into, and the principle (that is the amount the government siphons off the SSTF) is NEVER repaid.
Now, keep what I just told you in mind. IS IT POSSIBLE, some of the "changes" to social security being proposed by that evil Romney might actually NOT BE TO SOCIAL SECURITY ITSELF, but instead the SSTF and the way it is utilized? WE as people who not only pay into Social Security also provide these politicians with thier job, via our vote. WE are thier bosses. WE have every right to pick up the phone, grab paper and pen, and yes, even walk into thier offices and make our displeasure and our voices heard. This issue isn't one of party politics. This is an issue that truly should NEVER BE the political fodder or the basis of the party rhetoric so commonly heard these days. That is just my two cents.

The idea of the Smith Dinner is to be "self-effacing". Obama was about 90% self-effacing. Romney, try as he might, managed about 20%. This was not a Dean Martin celebrity Roast! Are we as a society of Freedom or not? Do Americans believe in the Constitution for the United States of America, The Preamble sets out the origin, scope and purpose of the Constitution. Its origin and authority is in "We, the people of the United States". This echoes the Declaration of Independence. "One people" dissolved their connection with another, and assumed among the powers of the earth, a sovereign nation-state. The scope of the Constitution is twofold. First, "to form a more perfect Union" than had previously existed in the "perpetual Union" of the Articles of Confederation. Second, to "secure the blessings of liberty", which were to be enjoyed by not only the first generation, but for all who came after, "our posterity".
This is an itemized social contract of democratic philosophy. It details how the more perfect union was to be carried out between the national government and the people. The people are to be provided (a) justice, (b) civil peace, (c) common defense, (d) those things of a general welfare that they could not provide themselves, and (e) freedom. A government of "liberty and union, now and forever" unfolds when "We" begin and establish this Constitution and the Bill of Rights. If all the Bills were passed unemployment would be at 4.3% right now and if all American corporations were taxes and fined for moving overseas and/or paid taxes were would Americans lives be right now. All Americans need to keep an open Government so we the people can keep an eye on what they are doing. Who is voting for us and who is not? We must vote all the time and vote out who is not for us. I think the Dems need to make a HUGE issue about Romney's advice to businessmen to persuade their workers to vote for him. We have seem businessmen in this campaign forcing employees to show up at Romney rallies. That is just straight from the Simpsons. It's like Montgomery Burns and the "Blinky" episode. "Smithers, that Marge Simpson has ruined my campaign, and if I was to kill her, I'd be the one to blame." Are the working men and women of this country going to take this crap?
