During Tuesday night's debate, President Obama and Mitt Romney sparred over a lot, including immigration. At one point, Obama said of Romney, "He called the Arizona law a model for the nation."
That isn’t true.
The issue has its roots in a GOP primary debate. In that debate, Romney said, "I think you see a model in Arizona," but his campaign later clarified he wasn't talking about SB 1070. During the debate, he was talking about E-verify, which was not passed in that law but in an earlier one in Arizona.
Romney's statement was vague, and allowed opponents to try and tie him to the controversial SB 1070 law. Romney also said, however, in that debate that lawsuits against Arizona should be dropped and that he would drop them "on day one," an apparent reference to the Justice Department's lawsuit against the state.
Here's the exchange from the Feb. 22nd GOP debate in Arizona:
KING: Governor Romney, the border security is part of the equation, what to do about whether it's 8 million or 11 million illegal immigrants in the country now is another part of the equation. And Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who's with us tonight from Maricopa County -- he's in the audience -- he told me -- he told me this week here in Mesa -- these are his words -- "it's called political garbage, if you will, to not arrest illegals already in this country." You've talked to the governor about self-deportation, if businesses do their job, asking for the right documents, the people will leave. What about arresting? Should there be aggressive, seek them out, find them and arrest them as the Sheriff Arpaio advocates?
ROMNEY: You know, I think you see a model in Arizona. They passed a law here that says -- that says that people who come here and try and find work, that the employer is required to look them up on e- verify. This e-verify system allows employers in Arizona to know who's here legally and who's not here legally. And as a result of e-verify being put in place, the number of people in Arizona that are here illegally has dropped by some 14 percent, where the national average has only gone down 7 percent. So going back to the question that was asked, the right course for America is to drop these lawsuits against Arizona and other states that are trying to do the job Barack Obama isn't doing. And I will drop those lawsuits on day one.
The Romney campaign told the Arizona Republic the day after the debate that Romney wasn't referring to SB 1070 but to E-verify, which isn't contained in SB 1070. The Republic wrote:
"It's clear from the transcript that Romney was describing part of the state's 2007 employer-sanctions law, which has been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. That Arizona law requires employers to use a federal electronic system to verify whether new hires are eligible to work in the United States and provides punishment for companies that hire undocumented immigrants."
Obama interjected after he made his "model for the nation" charge that, "Governor Romney says he wasn’t referring to Arizona as a model for the nation. His top adviser on immigration is the guy who designed the Arizona law, the entirety of it — not E-Verify, the whole thing. That’s his policy, and it’s a bad policy."
It is true that a top endorser of Romney’s -- Kris Kobach, the Kansas Secretary of State and former lawyer in the John Ashcroft Justice Department -- helped craft SB 1070.

Sweet!
Red meat for the RWNJ's!
Bottom line is this - Willard's policy on immigration reform is; self-deportation!
While you're at it Mark & Domenico, how about fact-checking Willard's Libya claim?
I can't speak for everyone, but I am exhausted from the "semantics" shell game!
But, but, it's all about the women folk. Or is the Hispanics?
The economy? Who cares.
Did I miss the FR article on the terrible jobs numbers? OR that insane amount we spend on welfare?
Yikes!
NEWS FLASH!!!
Gallup poll: Romney opens up 7-point lead among likely voters
By Jonathan Easley - 10/18/12 01:13 PM ET
Mitt Romney has a 7-point lead over President Obama among likely voters, according to Gallup's latest daily tracking poll.
Romney takes 52 percent support to 45 percent for Obama, and also leads 48 percent to 47 among registered voters.
The survey is a rolling seven-day average through Oct. 17, so it includes one day of polling data since Tuesday night's debate in New York state.
Gallup only began tracking likely voters earlier this month. The 7-point margin is Romney's biggest lead yet in the survey and comes less than three weeks before the election.
Democrats are hopeful Obama's forceful performance in the debate earlier this week will be enough to blunt Romney's momentum. The first debate between the two presidential contenders on Oct. 3 significantly altered the race's momentum and propelled Romney to his first national leads of the election cycle.
However, the daily tracking poll is subject to day-to-day fluctuations and could be an outlier. Romney leads Obama by less than 1 percentage point, 47.4 to 46.9, in the Real Clear Politics average of national polls.
THE HILL
Ahh Shoot gang- another Stimulus green tech company declares Bankruptcy.
Unexpectedly, of course.
A123? Nope. That was two days ago.
Statcon Technologies.
You see, Obama really does only pick the losers.
According to the standards employed by the right-wing, Obama was 100% correct. You see, content doesn't matter. Hell, according to the right-wing, Romney wasn't even talking about immigration in this quote. For all we know, he was admiring some babe from afar, or perhaps his favorite Lionel Train set.
FACT CHECK: Obama wrong on 'model for the nation' debate claim
Surprise!
Actually not. He (Obummer) is wrong about most things he says... including
On and on and on....
:o)
Spanky, I would find you hilariously funny if you weren't so correct. It's so sad, but true. But your method of delivery puts a smile on my face.
RedDev,
So True! And along comes SOB to UNDERSCORE your point.
Man I love this game!
PS. Absent any concrete information about the Weathervane's position on the topic,...I am FEELING entitled to fill in the blanks. Much the way he feels about his tax returns, I don't feel I have to PROVE anything where this serial flip flopper is concerned. Finding a CORE BELIEF with him is like nailing jello to the wall!
"You'll GET Your Turn!" - Mitt Romney, Oct 2012
Feisty, forget it. It's not going to happen. The fact checking. It's just not going to happen.
Did you hear about the mess this morning on Morning Joe regarding women being insulted by Mitt's lies over the binder statement? It was ugly. Just ugly.
Lean Forward? Hardly. Whenever you get republicans into the mix, particularly with the men, it gets ugly; they are ugly deep down inside. And it always come out eventually.
Why thanks Oscar.
Speaking of fact checking - O used to say that he had Al Qaeda on the run.
Yet 'lately' [read - since the last debate] he has dropped this little nugget.
So FR - care to offer up an article?
Oh and Pat - you you happen to catch WAPO this am? See,they let the old cat out of the bag - Mitt is winning the white vote by 20%.
But you are right we are very ugly inside. Not like you, you are so pretty. Inside and out Pat, inside and out. :)
ROMNEY: You know, I think you see a model in Arizona.
How clear can this be? He was vague, so? You fill in the blank space/s for him since he's anti-specific.
I think you see a model in how he says something ridiculous to please that moment (political expediency) and his campaign walks it back.
Obama is correct.
I think we all know the Romney camp is splitting hairs. Why doesn't Romney just come out and denounce the Arizona law, if he was only saying he supports e-verify?
My God, if the President says "they didn't build that," about the 1% not paying taxes while using public infrastructure, the Romney camp twists his meaning to say individuals didn't build their own companies.
I'm sick of the media "fact checking" little phrases, why don't think focus on the bigger issues. Romney will repeal Obama's policy of letting people brought here as children to work legally. That is the bigger "fact."
@Clara - couldn't have been better timed by SOB. As Santorum says, there ain't a smart one in the bunch.
@Pat - Mika did great standing up to the Morning Joe Boy Band. Gee, it was only 4:1. The best part is then they got slammed with feedback at 10:1 saying the Joey Boy Band was WRONG!!
I'm beginning to question the recents polls of women. I think the respondents are really cross-dressing heterosexual GOPTP men posing as women voters.
It is true that a top endorser of Romney’s -- Kris Kobach, the Kansas Secretary of State and former lawyer in the John Ashcroft Justice Department -- helped craft SB 1070.
Here is another example of a bright light being shined on MYTH's lIES.
As soon as the pools come out for the 2nd debate, the bump will be for President Obama; not to mention how our President will make MYTH look like a clueless buffoon on Foreign Policy.
Don't forget that Bain Capital which MYTH Romney benefits from and Sensata, IL. t's time for the MSM shine a light on Sensata
Why is it that the Liberal media will go after Ann Romney for the price of her clothes and not Michelle Obama? Why is it they will go after Ann Romney's religious views, but not Michelle Obama's? Fair and unbiased news reporting is gone and we may never see it again.
of course he clarified. Mitt is always busy clarifying AFTER he says something on TV
So come on my libbie friends - why does Obama's ICE require all of us travelers in the South west to repeatedly show proof of citizenship while squarely in the USA?
Oh and did you all see the endorsement by AL Gore's home newspaper?
Yikes!
"You've HAD your turn!" - The voters November 2012
While of course Obama has "People" to perform that task for him.
And yet, under Obama, yet another bombing attempt was foiled on American soil just yesterday! What was that again, from the right, about Obama going after terrorists, or whatever semantic bull@!$%# you require to make it sound Prissy Polly PoopyPants correct?
Feisty,
While you're at it Mark & Domenico, how about fact-checking Willard's Libya claim? I can't speak for everyone, but I am exhausted from the "semantics" shell game!
Where talking about semantics, shell game about a month ago? Or where you bashing Romney on his press conference?
Oh please fact check the Libya claim PLEASE!
Could it be, perhaps, the level of decorum demonstrated by the First Lady. I don't recall the First Lady ever telling us how rich she is or bragging about her devotion to her faith.
Spanky-
Why thanks Oscar.
Speaking of fact checking - O used to say that he had Al Qaeda on the run.
Yet 'lately' [read - since the last debate] he has dropped this little nugget.
Sparky;
Did you hear anyting about the Afghanistan planning to blow up the Federal Building? You certainly do exhibit the traits of a FOX

Obama/Biden 2012
Hi Pat!
Thank you for the Birthday wishes earlier! You are a dear friend who I cherish!
I steer clear of the Morning Jerk, he's bad for my blood pressure the way he bullies everyone on his set!
I have picked up bits & pieces about it though, via Facebook & other on-line chat rooms!
Waves to my 'tat-sistuh"!
Thanks for the phone call this morning! I'm still smiling! ;o)
Red,
I can think of more then a few who frequent FR! lol
"Vote like your lady parts depend on it." This was on Barack Obama's campaign website as of 10/2, which has been removed. If that isn't offensive to women, I don't know what is. The Democrats think women aren't smart enough to understand anything outside birth control and female anatomy. So, no thanks Obama. We American women will vote like our jobs depend on it. Then we will go buy whatever we want with the money we earn. That is a concept that the Obama Administration does not grasp. Nothing is more liberating than a good job! Romney/Ryan 2012!
HE ALSO LIED ABOUT CALLING THE BENGHAZI ATTACK "AN ACT OF TERRORISM"
Democrats for Romney 2012!!!!!
JoAnnaSmith1
you appear to be very proud of the fact that Romney disrespected the POTUS on national TV for the entire world to see by addressing him as YOU. So it's not surprising that Romney is disrespectful to the 47% of the population of the United States of America (including soldiers and elderly). If he's above following the protocol when addressing the president, there is no surprise that he doesn't give a sh*t about the "you people."
Again... typical (childish) libbie response... "You're Stupid!"
Well, "I know you are but what am I..."
Ha!
:o)
Awww, Poor Loonbat liberals not liking it when their liberal friends speak the truth.....cry everyone a river!
TRANSLATION: I can't speak for everyone but I'm really getting nervous my bro is gonna get fired in a few weeks! Why do you guys have to write about the truth. I thought the media was here to protect Obummer!! What gives?!?!
ZMan2012 - Democrats for Romney 2012!!!!!
Are they bringing them in binders? Keep dreaming.
Obama/Biden 2012
Bayllie
The Romney Camp is singlehandedly supporting the Eau de Toilette industry - They have created at least a dozen jobs spraying perfume on the Romney Turds that he leaves in his wake from appearing and opening his mouth.
It's comical, eh?
ElectionDayCometh, why did you not also quote Gallup's unemployment poll that was released yesterday?
Since you like Gallup so much, you must be thrilled that they reported the unemployment rate is even lower than the government said.
Gallup said unemployment was at 7.7% and falling at the fastest pace they have seen since the 90's.
Feisty, I don't watch it either. But Scarborough, Halperin, Barnicle - the usual suspects - were just plain arrogant from the stories all over the internet. They more or less said Mitt's lies over the binder statement didn't matter.
Mika was angry. Cher was angry. And thousands of women AND MEN were angry.
Savannah Guthrie, a woman, didn't cover herself in glory at all, which doesn't surprise me.
Republicans have made it clear - they don't care how often Ryan and Romney lie. They have admitted as much.
Feisty and her Leftwing insane clown posse are exploding HAHAHA.
I missed that one too on FR.
Feisty is right, the Right wing doesnt have real issues like Big Bird and tax returns to cling onto
*Tofu and wheatgrass anyone?
explain how that is possible considering he's adopted Bushs policies. DOH! Hey Bev the Racist do you ever get tired of facepalming yourself.
Still waiting for your answer bays. Your answer on why you are oh so concerned that there might be one GOPer on the planet that supports that scum Todd Akin, but yet we have that scum Bill Clinton being the headliner at a Get Out the Groupies rally for Obama. Have you forgiven Bill bays? It appears the Democrats have. Just asking.
Too bad Teddy is gone, ehh bayes?
Too bad Teddy is gone, ehh bayes? Ted would be waltzing out on that stage today too, respecting women in his own special way.
Nice to see you're into this whole "respect" thing bayes.
RedDevPS
I'm beginning to question the recents polls of women. I think the respondents are really cross-dressing heterosexual GOPTP men posing as women voters.
RedDevPS
MSNBC contributor, JOY Reid explained it. They are sampling old white conservative women.
Obama/Biden 2012
yeah doesnt he have the only confirmed kill in the 'War on Women'?
SO then RedDev - you concur - Al Qaeda is not 'on the run' and O was blowing a load of smoke at the Dem convention by saying just that?
See, we can reach a consensus.
Caeser - O has essentially done nothing but adopt Bush's techniques on terrorism.
Why shoot we still got rendition, GITMO, indefinite detention and now a butt load more drone strikes.
A real cowboy, this one.
And there it is - Bev. not has to discount 'old white conservative women.'
Why it's almost as if they are not legitimate women.
Or at least not as 'equal' as other non white, young women.
Another classic Bev-ism.
NOTIFICATION to Bev. - your race card is overdrawn. Please see customer service. :)
Good luck getting that 'good job' when you have a permanent criminal record because you dared to obtain an abortion under a Romney/Ryan utopia!!
Pat,
What I find most troubling is, supposed informed voters are willing to go right along with it!
Country be damned as long as they get rid of the black man in their White House!
I've never in my life seen anything quite like this!
JoAnnaSmith1
Yes, JAS1, because we all know that Obama is equal to Romney's multiple-positions videos.
Even Newt Gingrich’s campaign had a website to provide what it described as a “public service to voters unable to follow and understand Mitt Romney’s changing positions and stories on just about every issue and element of his past.”
Newt's website was called Tales of Mitt, but is taken down for obvious reasons. So you see, JAS1, Republicans, too, view Romney as a gigantic flip flopper!
Now that's just brutal. As in honest.
But do you forgive Bill bayes? We know you respect him. Is that the same?
WOW - just taking a gander at the RCP electoral map.
Holy hell batman, can you say preference cascade.
Query to my fine libbie friends. Ohio is +1 O at this moment.
What happens tomorrow or the next day when it goes -1 Obama?
Night, night gang. Trends kill, particular a naked emperor.
JoAnnaSmith1
Still waiting for your answer bays. Your answer on why you are oh so concerned that there might be one GOPer on the planet that supports that scum Todd Akin
JAS1: I support Bill Clinton who got a BJ from a grown, willing woman but lied about. I don't support Clinton's lying under oath and he deserved what he got: impeachment. I don't care about the fact that he got a BJ. I will take a president who lies about a BJ over one that lies about WMD and sends human beings to kill or be killed.
Does that answer your question?
Now, JAS1
For once and for all, do you support Todd Akin and his statement that women can "shut the whole thing down" so if they got pregnant during rape, they weren't raped?
And since you've been avoiding answering this: were you wrong when you said that the Republicans moved away from Akin for the right reasons (because he's offensive and disgusting). And if you answer YES, please explain why do they support him now. What's changed?
spanky - O has essentially done nothing but adopt Bush's techniques on terrorism.
That's a stupid talk right there. Very disingenuous.
If Bush had sense, he would have employed the use of drones and go after those whimps rather than wrongfully invading Iraq.
Bush would have moved the earth rather than tactically take out Osama.
By now under Bush, we would have been in fight with Iran..........bomb bomb bomb Iran. Who knows what he would have done to Qaddafi in Libya?
Keep spewing your trash.
Keep at it Spanks, you have quite a ways to go before you get as good at it as Romney. You're obviously not ready to be a big CEO of a ginormous small business.
this was supposed to be quoted since it's written by JAS1
except just24 Bush also got us out of Iraq despite the 'misleading' statement from Obama.
SOFA Iraq, look at it sometime, you'll see Obama had zero to do with it other than being forced to follow it.
if he's willing to lie about a BJ then.....nice justification BayLIE.
Spanky, what's wrong are you upset that Obama picked the American auto industry?
Romney's auto industry comments in the debate were called the biggest lie in the debate. Republican groups are saying that Romney's plan was NOT followed.
They are saying if Romney's plan had been followed it would have been a disaster for American workers, American businesses, the deficit, and our American military who rely on American made vehicles.
Romney was dead wrong and would have been known for making the worst decision since Hoover.
JoAnnaSmith1
JAS1, got little mad there didn't you? Going on and on about Teddy and Bill....
But my comment was on the fact that Romney address the POTUS as YOU. I guess Romney doesn't care about showing the world that he has no respect for the office that he is applying for.
What is UP with Snuffy and her obsession over Bill Clinton's sex life?
Been awhile since you've gotten any... eh... Snuffy?
Invest in a good vibrator sweetheart and shut the hell up about Bill's blow job!
Bill f*cked a willing intern while Bush f*cked the ENTIRE country against our WILL!
Bayllie,
He does tend to get wound up when cornered like a rabid raccoon! lol
Keep up the good work! ☺
It's been made pretty clear what I think of Akin bayes. What is odd is that he is so vilified, and rightly so, but Democrats behaving badly are revered, becoming the parties patriarchs in fact.
Odd world we live in, right bays?
Was I wrong? The GOP establishment ran as fast as they could from Akin. To my knowledge, they have not returned. Do you have any names of ones that have returned?
Other than the voters in Missouri that support Akins, which is their right, just like the voters of Massachusetts kept supporting Ted, which was their right, what other GOPers are supporting Akin?
You cheering Bill on today bays? Up there with "The Boss". Or does it creep you out?
Feisty - Bill f*cked an intern while Bush f*cked the ENTIRE country!
They're just jealous of Bill.
JSA1, whats your obsession with Bill shagging an intern? Are we missing something?
`Debbie? So when you say American Auto industry whatever do you mean?
Ford? Toyota makes more cars and parts in America than GM.
Seriously - you got to get you facts straight.
Now baylie - I ain't got no dog in the fight, but Akin and McCaskill are flat out tied right now.
So just how turgid must Claire be?
Yep - GOP war on women -
Kenndey flat out murdered one. Billy C. repeatedly stabbed one with a cigar, and a fatty no less.
And of course we have the winner that you all voted for in '04 - Edwards.
Yep, he knew how to treat a woman.
So as between Kennedy, Clinton, Edwards and Akin, whose the biggest POS?
Akin, really? You all are super funny.
So the jobless claim numbers mean nothing today? How about informed voters have final had enough of the spinning by the president and his staff. When you factor in those that have simply stopped looking for jobs, unemployment is near 10% if not over...those are the facts...I'm sure the president meant well, but his policies just don't work or work way to slowly to have any major impact. Wake up those of you still drinking the kool-aid.
Missouri is trying to decide whether to re-elect an idiot or elect a different idiot to replace her. Tough choice.
The silver-lining in all this is that either one of them will fit in well in the Senate.

Slim lead, but the last two conducted have her at +6, so the trendline, if one can be drawn considering the last published poll is two weeks old is that McCaskill is pulling away. And the reality is that that Gravis Marketing poll there is the only poll that shows Akin with any kind of lead in the last 9 taken going back to August 22.
Thanks bcwc - Gingrich and DeMint are off my contribution list. Like they were ever on them.
You a big fan of Clinton bcwc?
I wonder when this great news organization will report on Darrel Issa's repeated requests for information from the administration on their hiding expenses relating to Obamacare. Seems as though they don't want to tell the truth about the out of control cost before the election. And the left talks about lies from the right.
The shellacking will continue in November. I told you guys last year to get a viable candidate.
If all they have is "binders" this close to election day they must really be out of ideas.
Romny/Ryan 2012
So sorry there Mike - I was relying on the right wing website TPM.
My bad. :)
But again, even if true - a slim lead? What a turgid POS must she be?
so???
.
What's really worrisome - is - Mitt is wrong on everything.
.
But luckily Mitt has no chance in November.
Oooh, bad day for Barry. First, his jobless numbers are way up, then his poll results are way down, and now.....a big pants on fire!!!! Some days it just doesn't pauy to get up.
Geezes, Pigotry, do you have any idea how damned difficult it is to overcome a 7% poll deficit in 18 days. I realize you're in the tank for Bammy, but get real, please!
The question was whether Romney approved of Arpaio's "seek them out, find them and arrest them" policy. Romney replied "I think you see a model in Arizona. True, he added praise for the e-verify provisions, but the question he was asked wasn't about e-verify. The later "clarification" sounds more like damage control.
Obama's "didn't build that" remark was clearly referring to publicly financed infrastructure, but that didn't stop Romney from dishonestly taking it out of context, and the media let him get away with it. Why should Romney be given the benefit of the doubt, especially when Obama's interpretation of Romney remark makes sense IN context?
There aren't any semantics being played here, and the only shell game that's in progress is the one Obama started on Tuesday night, when he LIED.
First off, he claimed to have referred to the Benghazi situation as "an act of terrorism."
But, that's not what he said in the Rose Garden speech. THIS is what he said in that speech:..... "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for."
Please note that he never specifically calls the Benghazi attack "an act of terrorism." Nor, does he say 'No acts of terror, such as this."
However, when he talks about making light of other people's religions in the same speech, he is very specific......"Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence."
Please note the specific reference to "this type of senseless violence." A reference that is totally absent from his generic statement about "acts of terror."
Furthermore, Obama himself went to the UN, and gave a lecture about freedom of speech to the general assembly a few days after the benghazi incident.
This further supports the fact that he and his administration claimed the attack was a spontaneous demonstration against the anti islamic video that was released, and not a terrorist attack by an organized group.
I'll give Obama credit, he can think on his feet. He knew the content of the speech, and he knew it would cause a "semantics controversy." He got an added plus when Candy Crowley incorrectly backed him up.
But, in the final analysis, he did not specifically call Benghazi "an act of terrorism." He (through his administration) did say for two weeks that it was not a terrorist attack; but rather a spontaneous demonstration against the anti islamic video.....and that means HE LIED in the debate Tuesday night.
PERIOD, and there's no getting around it.
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY, 2012!!!!! (No semantics needed!)
Hey, Vermin @ #1.66 (aka. Vermillion Sky)
. so you are early...early vermin catches some ....vermin? I am just kidding around..I hope your EQ is as high as sky...

EQ - emotional quotient.
Just out of a meeting and one of those present was at President Obama's rally in Ohio yesterday. She told me I had to go to Obama Diary and see the photos. I did and they are OUTSTANDING! Great crowd all thrilled to hear him. My libbie friends - make sure you take a look - this is the man we are supporting - thank God!
Off to another meeting - it's one of those days!

Was at my mothers house and she got a robo call from Huckababy is support of Aikin.
Updated for Thursday, October 18:
Real Clear Politics is consistently cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.
Real Clear today reduced the number of total 'toss-up states' still in play at the national level from eleven to ten, having moved North Carolina into the 'leans Romney' column.
As a result, the ten states of Florida (FL), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Michigan (MI), Virginia (VA), Colorado (CO), Wisconsin (WI), Iowa IO), Nevada (NV) and New Hampshire (NH) are the only states yet to be placed in either the Obama or Romney camps.
Beyond that, of the forty states no longer considered toss-up, Romney can lay claim with relative certainty to receiving 206 electoral votes to Obama's 201, with 270 winning the Presidency outright. At present, however, with only 19 days left in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in eight of the ten remaining toss-up states and Romney leads in two.
In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged polling numbers from Real Clear Politics as of 4pm EST on Thursday, October 18:
In PA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 5.0%.
In MI, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 4.2%.
In NV, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 3.0%.
In OH, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.4%.
In IO, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.3%.
In WI, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.0%.
In NH, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 0.8%.
In VA, with 13 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 0.8%.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In CO, with 9 electoral votes, Romney's lead is 0.2%.
In FL, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead is 2.5%.
For Obama to win re-election, the easiest route still appears to be through maintaining his existing lead in the six toss-up states where his current margins are widest: PA, MI, NV, OH, IO, and WI. Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 277.
Should Obama lose the critically important and highly-contested toss-up state of OH, the loss could be overcome by a victory in Virginia where he presently holds a lead of 0.8%, resulting in an electoral vote tally of 272.
An alternative route to victory for Obama, should he fail to win either OH or VA, would be to capture NH where he presently leads by 0.8%, combined with a come-from-behind victory in CO, where he presently trails by an extremely narrow 0.2%. This alternative non-OH/VA route would also bring Obama's electoral vote total to 272.
In the final Obama scenario, a less probable but not altogether unlikely come-from-behind victory in FL where he presently trails Romney by 2.5%, would allow the President to emerge as victor while sacrificing wins in the five toss-up states where his current lead is smallest: OH, IO, WI, NH, and VA. This FL route also gives Obama 272 electoral votes.
For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to capture the two states in which he presently leads, FL and CO, bringing his electoral vote total to 244, but also steal victories in NH, VA, and WI where Obama's current lead is most narrow. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total reaches 271.
Should Romney come-from-behind in OH, his path to victory would only require that he maintain his lead in FL and CO while stealing VA where Obama's present lead of 0.8% is most narrow. This scenario would give Romney 275 electoral votes.
With nineteen days left in the campaign, OH and FL appear to be the most crucial toss-up states, but this one is going to go down to the wire.
It will be interesting to watch unfold on election night.
TO: Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL who wrote:
Yes, it is. But the way Romney described how "self-deportation" operates was just awful!
Romney said the way "self-deportation" works is that he won't allow them to make any kind of living for themselves and basically "starve" them out of the country and not allow them ANY opportunities. So, left up to Republicans, America will no longer be called "The Land of Opportunity".
I agree that "illegal" means "illegal" but starving people, or causing people to be homeless and helpless, or sick, are some of the things that I never believed America would allow! Isn't that kind of "inhumane"?
Do we actually "starve" people who come into this country illegally? Sounds awfully harsh.

Romney: ‘I’m Running For Office for Pete’s Sake, I Can’t Have Illegals’

(CNSNews.com)- During last night’s Republican presidential debate in Las Vegas, Nev., former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney admitted that a lawn company he had used hired illegal immigrants and that when he found out he told the company it could not have illegal aliens working on his property because he was running for office.
I used to have a lot of fun coming to this website. Fisty Rodehard and the crew could be pretty entertaining with their delusional remarks. Now, they are just pathetic. It used to be: blame Bush and throw the race card. Now they are so addled they can't even keep something that simple in order. Now it is just racism and calling Romney a liar. That is pretty rich for someone who supports Obama to bring up honesty. Well it is almost over. What will Fisty do when Obama is returned to the private sector? Fade away, go insane? Like I give a s__t.
FACT CHECK this one......
"The fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget estimate for all components, including programs, within the EOP
is $710,753,000, which represents a decrease of $7,260,000, or 1.0 percent, from the FY 2012
enacted level. This restrained budget further represents the Administration’s commitment to
aggressively pursuing control of deficits as the Nation works to rebuild and grow the economy.
Reducing domestic non-security discretionary spending in FY 2013 and beyond is one important
step in accomplishing this priority." - 2013 EOP Budget
"This restrained budget...." What is that about? And there's ANOTHER $462,000,000 in "Program" money...
Grand total for the EOP (Barry & Co.) $1.272 TRILLION for the Office of the President
More of the OBAMA lies... that is all he does is lie. The Democrats are liers Frank Dodd, Skelton lady Pelosi.... This is the only way they can win is lie about their own record and Romney's vision.
Barrack B Lie'n Daily
So does this mean that Romney is really for or against the Arizona law? The spin business of "I never said that!" and "Yes, you did!" leaves voters confused as to just where the candidates stand. Maybe that's the point of all this. You really don't know true Romney's position on anything.
For example, he's been both pro-choice and against abortion. Previously for outsourcing to China because of the cheaper costs but now against China currency manipulation which keeps the exchange rate imbalanced. Does that mean that Chinese workers should make $25Hr and the American workers make $5 a day? That would certainly change the flow of trade to the USA. Take out those pesky Government environmental, safety and labor rules and big businesses would be making massive profits. That would be really good for wall street and investors.
With the promise of tighter borders and immigration rules he's closing the deal with Xenophobes and Racists. With the "I was born in Mexico", and Spanish language ads on Telemundo, he's courting the Mexican immigrants. I'm confused to his stand on that.
He (now) says he's for the 100% of the American people, but he clearly conveyed to the rich white people at the $50,000 plate fund raiser that he didn't care about the 47% at the bottom of the economic food chain.
He's for "Romneycare" but against "Obamacare", even though they are essentially the same thing.
He promises to cut the deficit by cutting "liberal" programs but promises keep Military spending sky high (a hand-out to the defense industry and the biggest contributor to the deficit, by far), but also lower everyone's taxes. That doesn't make sense, if you stop to think about it.
Sorry, he just seems like a used car or "snake-oil" salesman that will tell you anything to close the deal.
Yup just MORE!!! lies from Obama........ When you have nothing else just ATTACK and BLAME......
Sorry... should have been BILLION not trillion.... at least not yet............
Why do I smell a spin here. He said "I think you see a model in Arizona". A model for what if not for the nation? Certainly not a model for AZ because it's already a law there so he must have been talking for other states in the nation. The point these fruitcakes don't understand is that this is a nation of all the states as one United States of America so that means that the states cannot pass laws that override laws of the nation. You agreed to that when you joined the USA so get over it. By the way...you lost the Civil War so live with it.
Now I see the right wing is bragging about the new poll numbers where they were downplaying polls when Obama showed a large lead. Which is it people?
Oh one other thing...Obama won the last debate so get over that too.
If you love this country you will vote Obama....if you love your money you will vote Romney. I'm voting for Obama because I love this country and hate what the Republicans have done to it and what Romney plans to continue.
Interesting how NBC News buried the story explaining why the most recent jobless figures incorrectly showed a decrease. For those who don't know, the reason why the jobless figures just prior to the latest presidential debate showed a "decrease" has now been shown to be because the figures for the State of California were "inadvertently" kept out of it. What a story! When the incorrect jobless figures came out last week, NBC News kept that story on the main page for several days. The more important story, that an "error" made those figures completely worthless, where is it? Buried under "Economy Watch" under the misleading headline "Jobless claims take big jump in latest week". The big issue of why this week's figures "take a big jump" over the previous weeks is sadly buried and sanitized as a mere “issue of timing”.
The truth behind the inaccuracy of last week’s figures is not so much the issue, because regardless of what a “report” may state, Americans know in their gut that things are just not “better” than they were four years ago. What is important is the shameless manipulation of data for political purposes by the Obama administration in a way that Americans have never encountered before. Americans find it hard to believe that their government would manipulate data as shamelessly as the Obama administration, so they find it hard to believe that such "accidents" are anything other than "accidental." They would believe it from a third-world government, but not from ours.
ha...these American leftists can handle it when it is pointed out that the messiah is a basic , unglamorous lier , like he likes to call others and this Feisty dude takes the prize
Larry , superman
democrats have been in control of Congress for the majority of the last 75 years , ouch
See this is what the Right has been diminished to. Idiots arguing over placement of words trying to spin it their way. It is frigging ridiculous. Romney forced them to drop their Libya sword and now they are trying to get it back by any means necessary.
@whoever talked about the Gallup poll
If you are following that poll you are stupid. It is clearly the outlier right now. Even your god Rasmussen says Romney is only 2 ahead nationally.
Finally, R's check this:
Iowa early voters: Obama 68% to Romney 37% (may be off on these by one or two points)
Wisconsin early voters: Obama 62% to Romney 35%
In Iowa about 30% of the electorate has voted. However the number for Wisconsin is only 6% of the electorate. However the exact numbers are accurate.
You also had Ben Stein on Fox today saying taxes must be raised. That one had to have stung Fox.
OK, well let him have it. Just because E-Verify has been around for a long time and wasn't in the law he endorsed, why should that make a difference.
Just because Romney said what Obama claimed doesn't make it a fact, because apparently Romney had his fingers crossed at the time and then his campaign pulled it back later.
I'm sure Mitt just didn't know what he was talking about when he endorsed the law. It's not like this is uncommon for Mr. Etch-a-Sketch. It had something to do with Mexicans, what more did he need to know? So does E-Verify so it must be the same thing. Yeah, everybody will buy that.
And although it wasn't a part of the law he endorsed, it is true that in different actions Arizona was also hitting employers and mandated that they use E-Verify, which has always been voluntary. (Funny how some mandates are just fine with Republicans.)
Anyway, no big deal because we all already know the details of his immigration policy, self deportation.
But on another note, I did finally find a link to the details of Romney's tax plan. Pretty interesting.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Of course Barrack Hussein was wrong on the "model for the nation" claim.
He's wrong about everything.
Just like the war on women, Big Bird and, the latest bogeyman, BINDERS.
Come on, please don’t embarrass yourselves anymore. You’re making yourselves more insignificant than you already are.
ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 FOR REAL AMERICANS©
Guys, this statement was obviously about requiring employers to check if an employee is legally allowed to work. THAT's NOT A BAD IDEA.
I'm not saying that you have to agree with the whole Republican platform, or agree with every ideology completely - but c'mon guys... this issue is about simply requiring employers and employees to all play by the same rules, and making sure that every business and every worker in America is following the law. It's really not a bad idea.
For the record, I'm not Republican or pro-Romney. I'm Canadian actually, and Canada is fairly 'liberal' in policy. However, here in Canada, when I hire someone, I need their SIN (Social Insurance Number) which verifies that they are legally allowed to work in Canada. No SIN, no job - I don't see how that's racist or discriminatory or anything, it's simply a good idea.
1NewDay
I think you mean Barrack Hussein, Eric Holder and Janet Neopolitan didn't know what they were talking about when all 3 of them admitted they never read SB 1070 but were suing Arizona anyway.
I know reading a whole 17 page long law is a chore for most Libbies, but it can be done.
Hell, I understand Nanny Piglosi is still trying to read all of Obamacares 2,734 pages. Because we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it, remember?
Try to keep up Spanky.
ROMNEY/RYAN 2012 FOR REAL AMERICANS©
Dear Lord,
Please make all these Republicon Trolls hibernate after Obama and Biden win the election in a few weeks! Especially, Spanky troll, he is sooooo honery! Thank you, Lord.
Amen!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Okay, here is Silverton's Shout-Out of the Day:
Hey, Mr. Romney, how long do you think it will be before the Tea Party figures out that 99% of its members are part of the 47% of Americans you disdain?
Once a Republican but never again.
That is my current philosophy not because of what the GOP says but what they actually do.
Most politicians will stretch the truth but it has reached the point that the GOP can be relied on to never tell the truth.
We will lower taxes... better than 75% of the tax we are now looking forward to in the middle class can ultimately be traced back to something the GOP has done. (with little or no benefit to average citizens)
We want government out of our lives... and they stick it into our lives in the bed room, the local tavern, your doctors office, the grocery store, the gas station, the school, the voting booth, at work, OH S**T this list could go on for another thousand or more items. Even the nut jobs, as referenced above, know how full of kraap they are, but like high school kids they just have to support their team. Well the United States of America is my team and I will support it by doing everything possible to ensure the re-election of the current President and then give him the congress that will work with him to unscrew the mess the Republican party has put us into. We all must work to get rid of those... who for two years have been instrumental in working toward the failure of this great nation. To quote "Our agenda is to insure a one term President". Sorry fellows but all the rest of us have an agenda to insure the success of this nation and if you do not get out of the way we will just roll over you.
THE BIG ALPHA OMEGA
SEMPER FI
Hey Spence,
I could care less what you think. Anybody that has to resort to name calling like "nanny piglosi" clearly doesn't have an opinion I care about. Does it make you feel good to call people names? Are you a grade school kid or just still behaving like one?
Please provide some link proving the admission you claim and I won't except anything from Fox or some right wing agenda based website. I'm not suggesting that it isn't possible that one of them may not have read it all, but I highly doubt they'd publicly admit it. Even still, I've read it and it didn't take past the first page before I knew it was unconstitutional. If only 1% of it was bad, it's worthy of fighting it. And as we both know, even the right wing dominated SC did strike down parts of it as being unconstitutional and warned the the key provision could easily be overturned later, but they pointed out that they wouldn't strike it immediately because their was no injured party, yet. The fact is it will be back when someone who has been harmed by it will sue. As there was no injured party, they allowed it for now. They even suggested that they didn't think it was enforceable without getting into trouble.
Mr. Romney is not worthy of the office of President and you know it, but he isn't Obama, so go ahead and vote for him out of hate for Obama, but not because you think he's the better man, because you'll just be disappointed in the outside chance that he wins. I think you are a man who is comfortable with hate as you have no problem expressing it, so just go with that. It really makes more sense and you might get a bit of respect for it as opposed to trying to defend Romney.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
I know, huh? I noticed that, too. But righties usually are obssessed with other people's sex life. Maybe they don't get enough themselves.
JoAnnaSmith1
what you are not understanding is that Akin's views are to affect all women if he gets his way. Clinton's BJ didn't affect any of us, until of course, the Republicans went probing out of desperation. There was nothing else to probe Clinton for so let's dig deep, maybe something will turn up. Voila, Clinton got a bj.
And you know what, I said this before. I don't are about Clinton's sex life. Couldn't care less because that is something that's between him and his wife. I wish Bush got some BJs too, maybe he would have not been so prone to start wars.
That's the difference between righties and lefties. Righties are just so damn interested what others do in their bedrooms.
nice dance around the topic. You were wrong when you claimed REASON. GOP ran fast out of fear of losing votes only, and not because they were offended by the moron. Heck, don't you think Akin had never shared his views to Paul Ryan during the long hours of working on the Personhood bill?
of couse you don't. but for someone to claim to know better, you seem to have a selective information filtering system. how convenient.
looky looky, even Fox News talks about it:
The Missouri congressman, who appeared to have been banished by the Republican Party establishment over his "legitimate rape" remark last month, is slowly -- but steadily -- being brought back into the fold by several prominent conservatives as he presses forward in his race for Senate.

The biggest flip-flop of the 2012 election season may not come from a candidate, but from Republicans who once bashed Todd Akin.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/republicans-support-todd-akin-legitimate-rape-comment-missouri/story?id=17332911
it took them, what a month, to be ok with Akin again, huh JAS!?
Ambassador Chris Stevens was brutally raped and sodomized in the name of Allah before being executed by Muslim terrorists in Bengahzi.
Who are the February 17th Martyrs Brigade?
What is there cause?
Why were they hired to guard the gates of our embassy in Libya?
Why is the Obama Administration trying to cover-up the truth behind the deaths in Benghazi?
Just 24 said,
"Obama is correct."
From the Article...
FACT CHECK: Obama wrong on 'model for the nation' debate claim
By NBC's Domenico Montanaro and Mark Murray
During Tuesday night's debate, President Obama and Mitt Romney sparred over a lot, including immigration. At one point, Obama said of Romney, "He called the Arizona law a model for the nation."
That isn’t true.
What part of "that's not true" don't you understand??
Pathetic just pathetic...
It's time to turn the page on this failed presidency...
The middle class and your children/grandchildren can't afford 4 more of 44!!
All4Reason,
Your post about Ambassador Stevens' death is not only speculative, it is an ignorant and misleading one.
Nothing has been proven about torture or rape of Ambassador Stevens. The only reports have been that the building he was in was bombed, a fire started, he was overcome by smoke inhalation, he was carried out barely alive, transported to a hospital, and died there after attempts to revive him.
My guess is that he was not treated properly or with respect, and there were reports of fist pumping in the air when he was carried out, but my understanding of Muslims is that they do not condone homosexuality and consider it a mortal sin, so I highly doubt raping would have been done in any public arena.
Stop spreading malicious unproven rumors, and start trying to show some respect for our dead patriots and their families.
MaxxPower,
As the article states and if you look at the video, it is absolutely true that he said it. Why they are calling it false is that days after the Romney campaign went back in time and "unsaid" it for him. They explained that what he meant when he said it, was something that was not even a part of the law.
So technically he is "on record" as saying what he said, isn't what he meant. That's the shear genius of this guy, he'll say something and then later interpret it in multiple ways to fit the situation.
Here's a guy who proudly stated: "I'm not familiar precisely with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was."
Actually pretty easy to do when later you can say you meant whatever makes sense at the time, regardless of what you meant when you said it originally.
Remember, here's a guy who got himself into a political trick bag and then went back in time to retroactively retire 3 years earlier.
Maybe the current position in this particular case is that he meant something different than what he said, but clearly that may change in the future and he may very well stand behind what he said, whatever it was. That why his own top campaign advisor Fehrnstrum refered to his positions by saying: “Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again.”
So now that being perfectly clear I suppose if Obama may have correctly pointed out what Romney said, he's wrong because Romney meant something else later.
Wow, even MSDNP is admitting Obama is a liar. How did the get by the
Ministry of TruthSoros/Soreto Truth Team? Looks like the rats are beginning to abandon the sinking ship.NH guess there goes the therory that this liberal rag never reports the truth
Obama/Biden 2012
When are you people going to stop being so racist?? It has nothing to do with his skin color, he's blatantly incompetent and duplicitous.
Benghazi has ruminated by the DNC spin doctors ad nauseum, and the families are still waiting for an honest response. Why hasn't our LSM brought up the fact that in the "war room" on the night that OBL was brought down our POTUS was dressed in his golfing togs?? We are currently looked upon as weak in the Middle East and it's due to the cavalier treatment given 'Bibi' on his visit to the White House. I'm ashamed.
For those who have made such an issue of things, now that 'Willard' as many of you refer to him has released 20 years of tax returns, when is the great "Promiser of Transparency" going to let us see his school records?
C'Mon people how about some quid pro quo?? We have a pair who have done very nicely for themselves on the taxpayers dime for the last 3 years and 10 months. At least Bush went to Crawford and engaged foreign visitors in a location where business was legitimately taken care of with out the public pomp and glitter.
"I don’t think he understands the Constitution of the United States…He’s the president of the United States. You don’t say, ‘you’ll get your chance.’” - Chris Matthews
It seems that Mr Matthews has mistaken a "public SERVANT" for a dictatorship... or maybe he knows something we don't about the Obama administration?
Stevens had NO armed personnel protecting the embassy??!!! That really Stinks!! They fled into a safe-room that had to weapons or escape route!! Who called that a safe room?!!!.. The Muslim Terrorist poured fuel around the building and trapped them in the fire!! 4 Americans killed by BOZOhussen's MuslimBroHooOd and that was not OPtimal??!!!What a genius orator!!
O better hurry up and get his pander on for the Hispanic vote.
I dont care about this fact checking b*llsh!t and who said what. It does not change the fact that Romney does not represent the interests of the majority, PERIOD!!!
I already voted for the Obama/Biden ticket and I encourage folks not to procrastinate, you might never have a chance to help this Nation move forward.
Next topic please...
yeah who cares about Barrack the lier... He's about to get the boot.

I heard Romney say exactly what was quoted in the article. Romney was clearly referring to the Arizona papers please law. Of course Romney’s campaign changed what he “meant” later; that is what they do, Romney goes out and says’s something publicly and later when no one is watching they change the story. This pattern of deception is the hallmark of the Romney campaign.……………
So NBC's Domenico Montanaro and Mark Murray are wrong in their assessment. I have always expected good judgment from journalists writing for NBC news and trusted the reporting to be accurate……. Apparently my trust has been misplaced.
I find it unbelievable that these two writers can ignor the fact that every time Romney makes a public statment 9 out of 10 times it's a lie. How about when Romney lied about the president saying he simpathized with terrorists....... which by the way President Obama did not say. How about at least pointing out that lie.... we'll leave the other 6 thousand lies Romney has made for another day.
How anyone with half a brain can trust Mitt Romney baffles me. The man is a pathological liar.
Mitt also said that the AZ law was a model for the nation when he was in Arizona on a visit. I think it was on an airport tarmac.
Vote Green Party if you are not in a "battleground" state.
You're right David. I remember him saying that and I'm sure that the "Daily Show" could dig it up if they want to.
Thats right Larry .Just like the health care law that was passed.
"Here is what I will say -- if four Americans get killed, it is not optimal. And we are going to fix it."
"And what happens during the course of a presidency, you know, the government is a big operation -- at any given time, something screws up and you make sure you find out what's broken and you fix it."
"we weren't confused about the fact that four Americans had been killed. I wasn't confused about the fact that we needed to ramp up diplomatic security around the world right after it happened."
"I wasn't confused about the fact that we were going to hunt down whoever did it and bring them to justice. So, as I said during the debate, nobody is more interested in figuring this out than I am."
All are Barack Obama words..... brave Americans DIED & Mr Obama thinks they were "not optimal"
Goodbye Barry.... take your wife & kids back to Chicago.............
Steve 446003 take your spam some where else.
Yah, you betcha 'Doc'. You and the rest of the lemmings move on forward, right over the cliff.
So Romney did "say" it, his campaign walked it back a bit (not all the way) after the fact. You see, the lying corporatist says anythings he wants, his staff waits for the public reaction and then they tailor the walk back to conveniently fit. In the end Romney can claim to say anything because he has said it all.
He has no principles therefor he has no policies -except to get elected. The only record he has is as CEO of Bain and Governor of Massachusetts, At Bain, he practically invented or at least perfected corporate raiding and out sourcing of jobs to China. As Governor of Massachusetts, he claims he had bi partisan support however in his one and only 4 year term he issued over 800 vetoes and had over half of those rescinded. By the time he was done with his last month of his only elected term to public office his approval/ disapproval rate was 39% to 59%.
Ask the people of Massachusetts if they are voting for him! 10/16/2012 Rasmussen: Obama 57% Romney 42%
To me R-Money supports AZ SB1070...
He said he would stop the lawsuit...
He said it is a model for the country(I don't care how his people walked it back, especially coming from the campaign that centered its convention around "We Built It"
He is working with the dude and party who authored it.....
Bottom line: This dude supports "Gestapo" like police tactics....
Yep sw philly - invoke the nazis. - you just lost.
But hey - I'm traveling from San Diego to Lake Havasu tomorrow. I will be asked my citizen ship status no less than four times by ICE. At each check point I will be well within the USA.
Since O is the boss of Ice, and ICE is demanding that I [and every other traveler] show 'papers' does that make O the head of the Gestapo?
sw philly?
Gestapo? do you even know what the Gestapo is sw philly? Im betting not. nice try through.
Reichsfuhrer der Geheim Staatspolizei
I am pretty sure the Gestapo singled out certain races, religions and origins and mental status' of people they asked for papers from....So Obama wanting papers from all is the exact opposite of gestapo tactics...
Caesar-----You seem pretty well versed on the third reich and I do know who the gestapo WAS but no I do not know what the gestapo IS.....Maybe you can enlighten me ?
Spanky-----Key line [and every other traveler]
BTW Spank you nuts can compare Obama to figures on the left(Even though he has governed Center-right to my dismay) such as Karl Marx but you cannot also compare him to figures on the extreme right ( Where Nazis lay) he just can't be both...Even though Flip-Flop R-Money tries to conjure up his inner right and left....
Bottom Line: Both candidates are in the center but the rest of the GOP has tacked hard to starboard and that is who would be preparing bills for a president romney to sign...No thanks
Nope sw philly - ICE demands papers, and we all know that you all just hate that.
But it's O's ICE.
And seriously - you really think ICE doesn't crack down on the Mexicans? Why shoot I never get the dog coming to sniff my SUV, whereas the Mexican in the Chevy truck always gets secondary.
That's on O, philly. But it's ok with you, cause it's O, right?
sw philly; WTF don't you understand about the word "illegal". SB 1070 should be implemented in all 50 states. ubama's AQ (holder dick in mouth) should be forced to resign. We have had enough of his lies and deceit, including ubama to last a life time. Which is November 7th 2012 that will be the end of this liberal administration.
Nope Spank----Obama to me is not perfect....I believe people should be able to move freely across the border....especially since most of them have been doing it for thousands of years (YOU know the natives that were here when Columbus " Discovered" this place)
DO you think if I vote for the GOP ticket we will get the freedom to move freely everywhere in this country again ( Including getting rid of DUI checkpoints, TSA ID checks to fly in the U.S. etc. ?
Clear Answer-----No I do not think it is Okay to ever check anyones ID ever....Except for commercial transactions that we have the freedom not to take part in......
You see I am Really Liberal....So liberal I tack towards libertarian ideology....And to me the GOP has taken away more freedom than any party recently and would like to take away more especially a woman's right to make decisions about her own womb....
I am not an automatic Dem vote every year but, until the GOP comes back to the 21st century I am...
thats because Romney hasnt been know to hang out with card carrying Nazis. Obama though, Van Jones ring a bell? oh thats right, he's just a 'rowdy nationalist'.
Dennis---On 11/7/12 Obama will still be President....I will leave you alone with the rest of your, shall I say misnomers ? Because you sound pretty angry.....Stay away from Batman flicks...
To me native Americans migrating for work is not illegal....Just because the law says something doesn't always mean it is right.....Take slavery for example, it was legal....What say you on slavery ?
Ceasar---I said it was understandable to compare O to figures on the left....Nazis are right-wing period..
Van Jones could be called a Marxist but not a nazi .......Is that what you are calling him ? with the nationalist label ?
So sw philly - cop pulls you over. He asks for what?
Say it.
Say it.
He asks for ID.
That's terrible and bad, correct?
A real libbie, eh? You love O's Patriot act then, yes?
I don't care what you call O he has governed center-right and that is the fact....
It only makes yourself look silly calling him names, not me....
I also don't think R-Money is a nazi....But I do know Prescott Bush had several financial an ideological ties to the German National Socialist Party...That is a historical fact not taught in TX engineered school books but that doesn't make it not true........
Spank------O did not author the patriot act...and no I do not like it....
How would he win re-election if he vetoed it ?
He hasn't used all of the powers created by the neo-con Bushies such as torture.....But he hasn't given them all up correct.....he followed the will of the scared electorate created by the Bushies and their color scale of terror.....You remember the threat levels right ? and the notion in 2004 and 2008 that if we voted Dem we would be attacked again even though we were attacked on the Neo-con watch ?
Van Jones words, not mine.
because the ACA is center right? in what country, France?
funny even touchy feely Europe requires a passport to move 'freely'. but then again its not like Austria is facing an influx of Swedes illegally displacing the native populus in jobs.
im sure the Cherokee and Seminoles got along swimmingly. Its funny how people tend to forget the natives of America (post clovis?) werent necessarily one big happy family.
old news and irrelevant to prove your point. but if you insinuating Mexicans or Latin Americans are native, you better look a litte deeper in history. to the victor goes the spoils. life's harsh.

If you have immigration checkpoints between San Diego and Lake Havasu, then the Republicans put those check points up there to keep Mexicans away from Republican camp sites, and away from the lake.
After you folks set up your own checkpoints, you want to blame the President? Naughty naughty!

I've been reading your posts and I'm very confused. Are you saying you support the police asking anybody for ID just because of the way they look? If so I truly feel sorry for you because anybody willing to sacrifice the freedom of others so easily is at the very least misguided, at worse extremely mean spirited.
BigAl - "Are you saying you support the police asking anybody for ID just because of the way they look?"
So you want to stop ID'ing people who buy alcohol and tobacco?
Laws exist for a reason, reasons based on reality, not your childish, naive, liberal fantasy-land.
I would like to interject here that I now live in AZ, approx. 30 miles from the border of Mexico. There is a large amount of illegals that cross over here...That is a fact. However; I do not see any difference here when it comes to who is checked by the border patrol station set up between here and Tucson. I am blonde and blue-eyed, as are my children and husband. We show our ID the same as anyone else, and the drug dogs sniff my car like they have to with any vehicle. When I cross the border going into Mexico, the American BP agents look in my car if I am driving my van, and the Mexican agents set off the alarm and I am pulled out of line and the van is inspected for guns. Do I mind? No! I am glad that they do not assume anything about anyone...It is reassuring to know that our country is interested in protecting us. Saying it is the Republicans who set up these stations...Are you kidding? The population of the city I live in is quite Democratic. We have many Hispanic police officers that patrol and are on the Border Patrol team. The people of this country who are here legally and want to be Americans want to protect our country, regardless of race, color or creed. I do however resent when I see Mexican nationals walking their children with backpacks across the border to school and back again because they do not contribute financially to the running of our schools. I also resent the fact that the insolent Mexican high school children (thank goodness they are not reflective of the whole population) that stand during the Pledge of Allegiance and loudly declare that the pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Mexico". No one is allowed to challenge them because it would be considered to be racist. If you have ever traveled to Europe (my parents are permanent residents of one country and my brother of another), they have free education including universities, socialized medicine, etc...but you can be assured that you are going to have your passport required as a form of ID there if you are not a permanent resident. It is the law...No excuses like you couldn't afford one, you lost it, I don't understand the question...My opinion is that you shouldn't be upset by it if you have nothing to hide.
Caesar Augustus on the previous thread "In short why is this news. as well as that 'Fact Check' article from earlier today. Sheesh NBC doesnt hide it at all"
Bob #s on the thread before that: "Domenico,Spinning like your "lady parts depend on it?"
White Collar Auto on that same thread: "Domenico, I seem to remember at one time you called yourself a reporter right here on these threads in response to a question I asked. Care to change that to Obama Shill?"
Caesar, Bob, and WCA on this thread - "Hey, Domenico, we take it all back - you're the best!"
wow Joanne, gee funny that his one about Obama came later. so i apologize, they are trying to hide it. now go find some 'humans'.
Hey, you right wing nuts kept insisting Obama wasn't born in this country even though he showed his birth certificate so how about putting pressure on Romney to to show his tax returns. Oh that right...he's your man so any crooked thing he does is OK with you. Romney wouldn't have a ghost of a chance to win this election if he showed his tax returns.
Jeez-Louise! We parse and analyze every phrase spoken these days to the point that politicians have to keep a lawyer at the ready just in case they utter a word or two that can be misconstrued.
Nevertheless, we do have a right to know the candidates' positions, so how about it? Just lay your cards on the table and let us know where you stand on immigration.
Come on Ursula - they are politicians. Lying scum and generally useless idiots.
But that aside - O said he would get comprehensive immigration done, or at least on the table in his first term, and Mitt wants all the illegals to go home.
Member when Bush and the congress was just about to grant an amnesty, but the people literally rose up and stopped it?
Both parties pander.
agreed...
So I was looking RCP today and noticed that, for the first time in the election cycle, the site has Romney ahead in the electoral college count. Of course, this is mainly driven by the fact that it now lists Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in the 'toss up' category, while moving North Carolina to the 'leans Romney' category.
Seriously?
The last poll that you can find with a Romney lead in Michigan was taken in August. The last poll where you can find Romney with a lead in Wisconsin was taken in August and the last poll where there was a lead for Romney in Pennsylvania was taken in February. Pennsylvania has the same 5% spread that inspired them the move North Carolina from the tossup to the leans category today. So what criteria exactly are they using for their map decisions at this point?
45 out of 49 polls taken over the last year show Obama with a lead in Wisconsin, all of them prior to August 16. This state is a tossup?
3 polls out of the last 55 taken in Pennsylvania show Romney with a lead. Those three all occurred over 9 months ago. This state is a tossup? Really? In what world does RCP think Romney has a chance in Pennsylvania?
And 8 out of the last 52 polls taken in Michigan show Romney with any lead or tied. And all 8 of those polls occurred prior to August 28. Michigan is a tossup? Seriously? Get serious.
How exactly are these states suddenly tossups?
Michael...
I wondered the same earlier this year. They base it on the RCP average. Anything 5% and under is considered toss-up. Anything from 5.1-10% is considered leaning. Michigan is currently Obama +4.2. Pennsylvania is currently Obama +5.0. Wisconsin is currently Obama +2.0. North Carolina is currently Romney +5.6.
Hope that helped.
So it's pretty much just a flat criteria? That makes more sense. It's just especially weird to see it when North Carolina polling has been a much more competitive state until very recently. Of the last 15 polls taken there, Romney has been ahead in 8, Obama in 6 and 1 tied. At face value, even though recent polling has broken in Romney's direction, NC would seem to be a far more 'tossup' worthy state than any of the three that have Romney ahead in single digit numbers of polls for the entire year.
Irregardless, my own electoral map has Obama sitting on 269 right now with Romney's only path to victory to sweep Colorado, Iowa, Florida, Virginia, and Nevada.
Which actually seems more doable than it did two weeks ago, though I don't see how he takes Nevada, to be honest. He's only led in Nevada in one poll all year long and that was back in April.
Hey Michael...
Yeah...RCP is a very numbers driven site. Which is nice, because you can draw your own conclusions. They have a flat criteria. But they only take into account the last few polls. For example, Wisconsin's RCP average is made up of the 4 latest polls, which were all in the Obama +1 to +3 range. NC is made up of the latest 3 polls which show Romney +2, +6, and +9.
Good talking to you.
Frank, I am not sure if you are liberal, conservative, middle-of-the -road but I must compliment you on your ability to post without being nasty. Many could learn from you !

Rather than spend time parsing Obama's comments on Arizona, let's talk about the "working women" facts FR has also pointed out as incorrect. Mitt said women have lost 500k jobs under Obama. FR points out there are 300k more women working now than before the Big O.
So, if Obama has added 5M jobs since he took office, only 300k of those jobs were filled by women?
That misogynist lyin sack.
Misygonists are the retardicans who want to over turn roe v wade, and want to allow employers not to carry contraceptives on insurance. I'm sorry BUT NO your religious freedoms do not give you the right to deny health coverage to women. Hell I'd say your religious freedoms do NOT allow you the right to deny anyone to be a priest or preacher. Women should be allowed to sue the catholic church over not being allowed to be priests period end of story. Bigotry of any kind has no buisness being tolerated within this country and the retardican party is the home of bigots racists and other vile human filth.
You apparently don't have a job analyzing data, do you?
commonamerican1 - We should know where FR heart is. It is so obvious. Have you seen Rachel and her pondits how they get after a debate. It is disgraceful and disgusting. Rachel mad-cow looks like she is having a fit and her head is going to fall off.
Once this election is over and Romney/Ryan win I will post only once and get out of this DNC site.
I will come back only if we have to fire Romney for not doing his job.
Romney/Ryan 2012 correct the error of 2008.
But look at the mess the next President will INHERIT ....... LOL ! Almost 4 years of Bam-Bam and the debt is higher, unemployment still high and Obama has never signed a BUDGET !
That last part will be a trivia question some day ....."What U.S. President never signed a budget as required by law during his entire term of office ??? Bam-Bam will be famous !!
Maybe they should simply self deport and get it over with. Immigration is something that hasn't been talked about much by anyone over the last few years. Why? There are more important issues.
When Ronald Reagan, the demigod of the right, can give amnesty to millions of illegals signalling that it is okay to come here illegally it makes things much more difficult when trying to enforce existing law and make new ones. Rhetoric is running thick and hot these days. Once the election is over this issue will be back in the closet until they need to drag it out again in, say, 4 years.
And let's not forget all the Boat People Carter let in.....I bet you don't remember that....
dixie....how right you are!!!
carter & clinton are cheering for BOZOhussen only because he makes them look less Stupid!!
Quite a few ILLEGALs self-deported themselves from Arizona. Unfortunatly, they moved to Sanctuary Cities like Chicago instead of back to France, Japan, Bulgaria, South Africa, or wherever they came from.
When the economy improves, new ILLEGALs will back in force.
The real news should be reported!**** It is ,"Everything That Obama Is Involved In Or touchs, Turns To Crap!"He is a complete failure in everything that he gets involved in, and even the democrats in congress refuse to support any of his stupid ideas! I guess most of the obama supporters have had a "idiot" magnet inserted into them at one time or another, and they have to go and get it "surgically" removed! If you have thoughts of voting for useless Obama, YOU ARE INFECTED! Have this taken care of A.S.A.P.
WOW Dandy in your world being the first Non-White person elected President of the United States among many other accomplishments makes you a complete failure ?
And I guess you don't have the proverbial " Idiot magnet " because you were wearing your tin-foil hat daily and nightly, heck even in the shower.....HAhahahhahaha
Obama is mostly a failure not due to his race but to his incompetency and attempts to turn America to socialism.
Illegal immigration is a problem for obvious reasons. We have people coming here who do not add to the tax base because they are afraid they will get caught. The net results of that is the companies that hire them don't pay them much and are able to profit while taxpayers pick up tab for any public services. That being said we need a comprehensive solution for children, at least, who have always been here and possibly more than that. I have no problem with Romney taking a stand against illegal immigration if that is what he believes and in some ways I am sympathetic but it is not a pragmatic position. I can't tell what anybody believes in this campaign because they won't own up to anything and they try to deceive the public about the other people's position. Either that or the campaign season is just too long and they are too tired. I sure as hell am. Even Ryan, who preaches small government has lived off our tax dollars all of his adult life and Romney may be alive to talk about tough foreign policy because he got deferments out of the Viet Nam War. I guess he is talking about other people being tough with their lives.
Still no discussion about this weeks Jobs report?
What's to discuss? Last week's report was artificially low at 339k because of the state that didn't file on time or whatever the clerical issue was. This week's report is artificially high at 388k because they had to tack the backlog from last week on to it. If you split the difference at add 24k or 25k to each week, it comes in at about what everyone was estimating to begin with.
It's a non-story.
Obviously, Michael, you DID NOT read the article posted here today and you are shooting from the hip !
i will give this to the president..
he told the truth when he said that governor romney was a good man..
we need a good man to run the country..
hussein is not a good man..
new tape, Romney urges bosses to tell their workers how to vote
One month after Mitt Romney’s infamous 47% comments sent his campaign into shock, another revealing recording of the former Massachusetts governor has surfaced.
On a conference call with small business owners back in June, hosted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), Romney encourages employers to “make it very clear” to their workers that their jobs are dependent on the outcome of the election.
“I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections. And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or or whatever your political view, I hope, I hope you pass those along to your employees. Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I think that will figure in to their election decision, their voting decision.”

Sorry, my boss never told me, but I knew that already. Thar is why I'm voting for Romney/Ryan 2012.
Get on the Bus, get on the Bus, get on the Bus...we'll drive you to get you registered to vote (and help you fill it out too!)

Liberal desperation is beginning to stink in every city, every state. What?? Only 20 days to judgement day??
One more lost debate for Obama, and the goose is cooked. Call the movers. Start packing Moochelle's $500 sneakers. Time to vacate Mitt's White House.
We have early voting starting this Saturday here in Nevada. Think I'll jump the gun, and get my straight Republican ticket in ahead of Monday's shellacking of Obama on "foreign Policy" (Benghazi-gate)
You must be living on another planet, your boy mitt is a loser and will be moving to his new home with the car elevator. As far as foreign policy Mitt will look like a fool when he faces off against Obama. So go ahead and waste your time and vote early since it won't matter in the end. The keys to the White house are not in Nevada, they are in OHIO,Michigan,Wisconsin and Iowa not to mention Pennsylvania
Romney would be a disaster if elected...He's already pissed off our most ardent ally and pissed off the Russians with his stupid remarks. Russia had been cooperating with us on the middle east... I honestly think Romney is either bi-polar or just plain old fashion stupid ..take a look at his own words...
"I'm Wolf Blitzer and yes, that's my real name." —CNN's Wolf Blitzer at the beginning of a November 2011 Republican presidential debate
"I'm Mitt Romney—and yes Wolf, that's also my first name." —Mitt Romney, getting his own name wrong (his first name is "Willard," and his middle name is "Mitt")
"I'm not familiar precisely with what I said, but I'll stand by what I said, whatever it was." —Mitt Romney (May 17, 2012)
We have a president, who I think is a nice guy, but he spent too much time at Harvard, perhaps." —Mitt Romney, who has two Harvard degrees (April 5, 2012)
Lets talk about Obama's explanation why Gas prices are so high and were only $1.76 when he took office. Does this guy have a clue?
@ JFK,
yep, everybody knows that the President secretly controls gas prices and coal prices and natural gas prices, and shrimp prices, and wind prices, halloween costume prices, etc...
But Bam-Bam blamed George Bush for high gas prices !! Was he lying then or merely lying now ??
The fact is..All American cars/ buses should be running on currently available and a Giant supply of Natural Gas!!
How would Rockefeller and the Arabs like to eat Petroleum?!!! ...We could do it Over Night!!!
fact is the highest national average was under Bush in the summer of 2008 at 4.11 a gal. If you cannot see that gas retreated from that figure due to a financial meltdown and near depression then there is no reason to even bother to argue with you. You are not a person who is capable of dealing with reality.
Don't you think if he controlled gas prices he would have lowered them to get elected? Get your head on straight.
It is time to send him back to Chicago. He has done enough damage. It will take the grown ups years to undo the havoc that was brought on by this Administration.
Lets get started on November 7th. Wake up America. Why tum America into a third world country? It is enough already.
can't we send him further away?.......how about hawaii???
boy two weeks ago these same rabid righties were saying polls are a conspiracy now they love them. Wait till monday of next week when the post debate 2 polls start to arrive. Then back to the conspiracy.
What is obama's position on e verify- the same as Mittens. How many mis statements did Romney make regarding Obama? Too numerous to post- from energy production to Libya
One thing the Repugs are best at- Monday Morning Quarterbacking. They ALWAYS Would have done it better
obama feckin lied every time he opened his piehole during the most recent debate......hell obama lies EVERY TIME he opens his pie hole.....get rid of this marxist ideologue....
lets see fact check on debate one had Romney at 27 lies. Oil Production he lied. Libya- caught live on camera.

Is that the best 'ya got there dal ? That came out about a year ago and merely shows Romney is concerned with "legality". Obama is not concerned with legality. That is why he invoked an executive order to ignore certain parts of existing immigration law. That is why he ignored DOMA which was legally passed.
Another truth the libs hate Mc
Truth and libs are like oil and water.
Romneys campaign will not be dictated by a bunch of fact checkers.. remember?
Semantic's.
Give me a break!
Obama Biden 2012
At the last debate, Romney was ambushed by a highly-biased moderator, and an "uncommitted" audience who cheered when the moderator endorsed an Obama lie (she later had to admit that "Romney Was Actually Right On Libya"). A CNN/ORC International nationwide poll of debate-watchers taken right after the debate showed 46% thought Obama had won; 39% thought Romney had won.
I expected (and posted here) that it be surprising if many Americans didn't change their opinion when the Obama lies and moderator bias were exposed. I was initially disappointed, but the latest polls seem to vindicate my expectation.

Kannin The biggest applause was from the first lady , you could not tell ?
Your disagreement with Obama's statement is too oblique in its explanation. You can't blame the President for it. It is Mitt Romney who needed to clarify his position from day one. But, I doubt that it could. After all, he changes his position as needed to get the vote.
I believe that the President can falter on facts. But on this one: NOT GUILTY.
OK Bob -Let's assume for the moment that Creepy Crawly and Obama were correct and that Obama did initially call the attack on Benghazi an act of terror. OK, then a few days later they said the Libya attack was "spontaneous" and started with the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, over an anti-Islamic film. And then a week or so after that they said it was a pre-planned terrorist attack again.
I think all that rapid-fire flip-flopping sends the wrong message to the international community. When Obama hasn't the slightest idea of what actually happened, he should keep his mouth shut.
He DID NOT call the attack a terrorist attack. Read the transcript, he inferred or implied it, but never said it was (I think he said we will not tolerate acts of terror) . Then a couple of days later the tune was blame it on the video. So, if you want to scream about him meaning it was a terrorist attack, then STFU about 47% as Gov. Romney obviously meant he couldn't worry about trying to get those votes (read the transcript). If it's about context then it works both ways.
He did call it a terrorist attack. He was holding the conference to SPECIFICALLY talk about THAT attack, dufus. And you are the one who needs to re-read Romneys 47% talk. He did NOT just say that 47% would not vote for him. He SPECIFICALLY said they did not take responsibility for their lives and implied they were basically takers and losers.
I don't know, but maybe you need to go back to school buddy
And you're an a hole, so kiss mine.
Obama called it "an act of terror", which is kind of vauge. Days later Obama blaimed the movie at his speach to the UN. Hillary, and the people in charge all blaimed the movie. I intelligence is good enought to tell the president within hours the group, or groups that were to blaim. He wanted the US to believe that it was the movie that caused the attacks. that way it would put blaim on the movie and not his foriegn policys. So he continues to lie. He also lied about the oil leases, and Romney's so called 8 million tax cut. It took him 2 weeks to all it a terrist attack, and only because it was shown that they knew it was within a day. Obama was doing a Nixon coverup, but he won't be impeached because of Reid. Now if Obama was a Republican he would have been brought up on impeachment proceedings a week ago.
Murder is murder so it doesn't matter if it was "an act of terror" or a "terrorist attack"...Romney minces his facts and words all the time which is a guy that can't be trusted...read my computer lips, he plans to raises taxes on the middle class by lowering tax exemptions by taking away mortgage interest deductions, property tax deductions, child care credit, charitable contributions, etc......that's what that mean....
