Democratic rock stars -- Clinton and Springsteen -- stump for Obama

PARMA, Ohio -- Two rock stars -- one a former Democratic president, the other a multi-platinum musician -- made an appeal for President Barack Obama to voters in battleground territory in northeast Ohio on Thursday.

Former President Bill Clinton joined forces with Bruce Springsteen for a high-profile appearance on Obama's behalf in the Cleveland area, a key region in a key battleground state that could make-or-break the president's bid for a second term.

Both former President Bill Clinton and Bruce Springsteen were in Parma, Ohio, Thursday to sing the praises of President Obama. NBC's Shawna Thomas reports.

"I've had, I don't know, 20-something jobs before I got elected president. But this is the first time in my life I ever got to be the warm-up act for Bruce Springsteen. I am qualified because I was born in the USA; and unlike one of the candidates for president, I keep all of my money here," Clinton told told the more than 3,000 packed into the gym at Cuyahoga Community College.

An additional 700 crammed into over-flow rooms.

The rally was Springsteen's first stop on the campaign trail this year, but just the latest for Clinton, who's emerged as one of Obama's top advocates, first at September's Democratic National Convention and later at campaign stops throughout the country. Clinton has been to Florida, New Hampshire and Nevada, and will travel tomorrow to Wisconsin.

Springsteen was set to travel to Iowa for a solo rally later in the afternoon.

Both Clinton and Springsteen played up Ohio's Midwestern tradition and the auto industry rescue initiated by Obama in 2009 in their speeches, mindful of the jobs preserved by the bailout of GM and Chrysler. ("I'm thankful GM is still making cars," Springsteen joked. "What else would I write about? I'd have no job!")

During his warm up act, which exceeded 30 minutes, Clinton blasted Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for a lack of transparency, telling supporters they did not put up with the "hide and seek stuff" of the GOP candidate.  His budget, tax returns and details about his economic plan are things the former president said the Republican has been hiding.

"I love Ohio, it's an old school place," Clinton said. "We like our families, we like our communities, we value personal loyalty. When you were down, you were out and when your whole economy was threatened, the president had your back. You gotta have his back now."

Rocker Bruce Springsteen performs for a crowd of Obama supporters in Parma, Ohio.

At one point, in making the case against Romney, Clinton acknowledged that the economy was "not fixed," a comment on which the Republican nominee's campaign quickly pounced.

"We agree with former President Bill Clinton. The economy has not been fixed under President Barack Obama," said Romney spokesman Ryan Williams. "Today, more than 23 million Americans are struggling for work, poverty has increased and food stamps are at record levels. Mitt Romney believes we can do better by creating 12 million new jobs with higher take-home pay, cutting spending to put our nation on course for a balanced budget, and actually fixing our economy."

For his part, Springsteen has a well-established track record of supporting Democrats, and he posted a letter on his website Wednesday evening formally backing Obama.

While campaigning in Parma, Ohio, former president Bill Clinton draws comparisons to his eight years in office to the promise of four more years of Obama in the White House, if re-elected.

"This presidential election is different than the last one because President Obama has a four year record to run on. Last time around, he carried with him a tremendous amount of hope and expectations" he wrote. "Unfortunately, due to the economic chaos the previous administration left him with, and the extraordinary intensity of the opposition, it turned into a really rough ride. But through grit, determination, and focus, the President has been able to do a great many things that many of us deeply support."

In front of the crowd today, Springsteen said, "The future is rarely a tide rushing in. It's a long march, day by day. And Obama feels that in his bones for all 100 percent of us."

In a short acoustic set, Springsteen played some of his more recognizeable hits -- including his steel town dirge, "Youngstown," for the city just a short distance from Thursday's rally -- along with a jokingly-composed campaign song The Boss said he wrote at the president's request.

"Let's vote for the man who got Osama," went one line. Continuing about the second debate: "Smilin' Joe really brought the drama."

Bill Clinton and desperate old haggered rock band groupies. A match made in Libbie heaven.

Wonder where Hillary is tonight?

Oh yeah, she's under a bus or lying on a sword someplace.

Speaking of Hillary, why does she let powerful Democratic Men treat her so poorly?

Low Self-Esteem issues proabably. A common trait in most Liberals.

Perhaps WCA is either jealous or simply not a fan of good music by a living legend such as Springsteen.

Whatever the reason for his disdain isn't relevant. The "BOSS" and Clinton will help to shore up some support for Obama with more of the undecided voters in Ohio.

While WCA and other RWNJ's wallow in their misery of not having 1/10th the support from "A" list celebs that favor the candidates from the middle and left, the rest of us will enjoy the day knowing that the democrats continue to move forward.

Bill Clinton, by far the most popular living President, is the top campaigner for the democrats and if the incumbent is reelected, will have been a major factor in that effort. It must kill you that this ultimate power couple's marriage survived his infidelity and that they are still happily married, having reconciled like good Christians are supposed to do, right?

Anyway, you have the Tigers going to the WS, so your fall won't be a total loss, unlike your post..

Romney impersonated a police officer

That's right, the current Republican presidential nominee used to impersonate a police officer and pull over drivers on the road. Romney was sort of like the original George Zimmerman, only he had a uniform and a flashing red light.

Phillip Maxwell, a prep school buddy, told the New Republic in 2008 that Romney had pulled over students from a girls school next door to Cranbrook while wearing a police uniform as a prank. Other former classmates described Mitt as a “happy-go-lucky guy known less for his achievements and more for his pranks.”

http://www.nationalmemo.com/did-young-mitt-romney-impersonate-a-police-officer-another-witness-says-yes/

How this story is not headline news is beyond me. Can you imagine the headlines throughout the MSM if it were discovered that during college Barack Obama had a hobby of impersonating a police officer and that he pulled over drivers on the road?

This is what an aide to the late Governor George Romney thinks about Mitt:

Long-time George Romney aide Walter De Vries says Mitt Romney’s campaign is “a far cry from the kind of campaign and conduct, as a public servant, I saw during the seven years I worked in George Romney’s campaigns and served him as governor.” De Vries wrote an essay he circulated to friends that he may turn into a book.

“While it seems that Mitt would say and do anything to close a deal – or an election,” he wrote, “George Romney’s strength as a politician and public officeholder was his ability and determination to develop and hold consistent policy positions over his life.”

…In a telephone interview, he said he was motivated to write the essay by “an accumulation” of Mr. Romney’s actions, like his comment about 47 percent of Americans and his decision to campaign with Donald Trump.

Mr. De Vries said he was annoyed by Mr. Romney’s repeated references recently to his father as inspiration and influence on him.

“I just don’t see it,” he said. “Where is it? Is it on issues, no? On the way he campaigns? No.”

Mr. De Vries continued, “George would never have been seen with the likes of Sheldon Adelson or Donald Trump.”

De Vries will be casting his vote for President Obama.

Was Springsteen ever, really, thatgood? He had some great musicians playing with him, not the least of which where Stevie Van Zandt, and Clarence Clemmons.

But Springsteen himself, couldn't play guitar to save his life, and quite frankly; he had a lousy singing voice.

Bill Clinton" Probably the best post-WWII economic President.

But, you have to wonder why Obama and his people would look to Clinton for help this year, after they called Bill "a racist" in North and South Carolina back in 2008. (?)

I remember Obama saying to Hillary during one of the Democratic Primary Debates; "sometimes I wonder who I'm running against (her, or Bill)....."

You also have to wonder why Bill Clinton would help Obama after all that. If it were me, I would have told the Obama camp "go straight to hell."

WOW - you can smell the desperation of the radical righties today. They know Mitt is going down and they're trying to convince each other he isn't.

Feisty, Bev and my other liberal friends - it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic! You guys hold down the fort and try not to hurt their wee little feelings - too much! I've got meetings all afternoon. Will catch you guys tomorrow.

Again Feisty - have a GREAT Birthday!

JERSY GIRL 1

It's amazing that when the Liberal media has no control over the spin, Romney soars. People got to hear the real Mitt Romney now in two debates and they liked what he had to say and felt very comfortable that HE not Obama could turn the economy around. Keep spinning MSN, it's no wonder you are losing more and more viewers to FOX NEWS.

"Jersy" Girl... don't you ever worry that Romney is going to just fly off into outer space? He's soaring so high from all the spin that he's almost out of sight. Goodbye, Mitt! Have fun on Planet Kolob!

As for turning the economy around, NO!! President Obama has this country headed in the right direction. Do you read the news? The real news? The stock market is up, unemployment is down, wages are up, retailers are expecting a great holiday season, corporate profits are up...the last thing we want is to turn around and go back there, back where we were four years ago, when you were probably still in diapers.

FOX is not news, dear. It's propaganda from that Australian tabloid king, Rupert Murdoch.

Obama summed up his outlook in one statement: "Some jobs we will never get back"

Why is that Obama? It's okay for Apple to let 1,000,000 jobs go away for ever? Because Apple is so awsome? But if Romney invested in a manufacturing plant in China that's evil?

Numb nuts doesn't realize we are losing jobs by the millions because not only can they build the crap overseas cheaper they don't have to pay 35% taxes on what they ship or be shafted with taxes against inventory being considered same as cash.

These Democrats have ZERO clue as to what makes business minds think.

Springsteen was ok back in the 80s, but Nugent always has, and always will completely outshine Springsteen. I've seen Nugent three times, last time I took my son to see him, his first rock concert. Springsteen can't even touch Nugent in the music department, or the energy/composing department.

Politically, well, I'd like to see any one of you libs debate Nugent one on one. He would shred you to hamburger.

The guy is drug free, a family man, out doors active, and an awesome musician. I would take him any day over springsteen.

He's not perfect like you libs, he does have his faults. But I guess that's part of being on the right.

Black support for Obama waning in NC

Raleigh, N.C. — Historically high turnout by black voters helped President Barack Obama win North Carolina in 2008 by 14,000 votes, which was his narrowest margin of victory nationwide.

Polls show Obama's support among black voters this year is weaker, which only heightens North Carolina's status as a swing state in next month's presidential election.

A WRAL News poll from October 2008 showed 92 percent of black voters in North Carolina supported Obama, while only 3 percent backed Republican nominee John McCain. In a WRAL News poll released two weeks ago, Obama's support among black voters has fallen to 87 percent, with 12 percent saying they plan to back Republican Mitt Romney.

Those results are moving in the opposite direction from overall Democratic support for Obama, which is higher this year.

David McLennan, a political science professor at William Peace University in Raleigh, said the weaker support among blacks in North Carolina is probably due in part to the economy.

The nationwide jobless rate among blacks in September was 13.4 percent, which was almost double the overall rate. The Economic Policy Institute, a nonpartisan think tank, projects that 19.4 percent of blacks in North Carolina will be unemployed at the end of this year, which is more than double the statewide rate.

"It's also some social issues, like gay marriage," McLennan said of Obama's waning support. "That's a very divisive kind of issue, particularly in the black churches."

The day after North Carolina voted in May to amend the state constitution to define marriage as being solely between one man and one woman, Obama announced his support for gay marriage.

That angered some amendment supporters, including Rev. Patrick Wooden of Raleigh's Upper Room Church of God in Christ. He recorded an ad accusing Obama of turning his back on black values.

"If some say, 'No more' by not voting for him, then that's their prerogative," Wooden said recently, adding that he isn't surprised that the president has lost some black support.

Social issues like same-sex marriage and abortion should sway voters, he said.

"I think what drives people should be their ideology – what they believe and what they think – versus color or something like that, because what if everybody in America did the color game?" he said.

Rev. William Barber, state president of the NAACP, said critics like Wooden are trying to distract voters from other issues, including the economy, education and civil rights.

"There were people, even ministers, who stood up against Dr. (Martin Luther) King and tried to stop the civil rights movement. It didn't work," Barber said, adding that he believes black voters will turn out in force this election.

"The black community is not monolithic," he said. "You may have one or two pastors that may say, 'Don't vote' or 'Vote for this person on one issue,' but even in their own churches, people are not going to just listen to them. They're going to evaluate the candidates very intellectually, very thoroughly."

When it comes to music, some may indeed consider Springsteen "The Boss".

When it comes to political knowledge, some may consider Springsteen "IRRELEVANT".

The ability to be a rockstar and the ability to understand the deep financil hole of 16 trillion in debt with NO BUDGET, NO PLAN and NO CLUE from the Obama administration, the ability to understand high unemployment, weak foreign policy and class warfare of the Obama camp ... are not the same thing !

Obama is incompetent to lead this country. He did not have the experience or the knowledge to handle the job successfully. Obama was elected on the high-sounding vagueness of "Hope and Change".

Now, we can only "Hope" there will be a "Change" in the White House ... coming very soon !

Updated for Thursday, October 18:

Real Clear Politics is consistently cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.

Real Clear today reduced the number of total 'toss-up states' still in play at the national level from eleven to ten, having moved North Carolina into the 'leans Romney' column.

As a result, the ten states of Florida (FL), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Michigan (MI), Virginia (VA), Colorado (CO), Wisconsin (WI), Iowa IO), Nevada (NV) and New Hampshire (NH) are the only states yet to be placed in either the Obama or Romney camps.

Beyond that, of the forty states no longer considered toss-up, Romney can lay claim with relative certainty to receiving 206 electoral votes to Obama's 201, with 270 winning the Presidency outright. At present, however, with only 19 days left in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in eight of the ten remaining toss-up states and Romney leads in two.

In descending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Obama, followed in ascending order of 'percentage of lead' in favor of Romney, here are the published averaged polling numbers from Real Clear Politics as of 4pm EST on Thursday, October 18:

In PA, with 20 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 5.0%.

In MI, with 16 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 4.2%.

In NV, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 3.0%.

In OH, with 18 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.4%.

In IO, with 6 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.3%.

In WI, with 10 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 2.0%.

In NH, with 4 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 0.8%.

In VA, with 13 electoral votes, Obama's lead is 0.8%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In CO, with 9 electoral votes, Romney's lead is 0.2%.

In FL, with 29 electoral votes, Romney's lead is 2.5%.

For Obama to win re-election, the easiest route still appears to be through maintaining his existing lead in the six toss-up states where his current margins are widest: PA, MI, NV, OH, IO, and WI. Doing so would bring his electoral vote total on Election Day to 277.

Should Obama lose the critically important and highly-contested toss-up state of OH, the loss could be overcome by a victory in Virginia where he presently holds a lead of 0.8%, resulting in an electoral vote tally of 272.

An alternative route to victory for Obama, should he fail to win either OH or VA, would be to capture NH where he presently leads by 0.8%, combined with a come-from-behind victory in CO, where he presently trails by an extremely narrow 0.2%. This alternative non-OH/VA route would also bring Obama's electoral vote total to 272.

In the final Obama scenario, a less probable but not altogether unlikely come-from-behind victory in FL where he presently trails Romney by 2.5%, would allow the President to emerge as victor while sacrificing wins in the five toss-up states where his current lead is smallest: OH, IO, WI, NH, and VA. This FL route also gives Obama 272 electoral votes.

For Romney to unseat Obama, he not only would have to capture the two states in which he presently leads, FL and CO, bringing his electoral vote total to 244, but also steal victories in NH, VA, and WI where Obama's current lead is most narrow. By so doing, Romney's electoral vote total reaches 271.

Should Romney come-from-behind in OH, his path to victory would only require that he maintain his lead in FL and CO while stealing VA where Obama's present lead of 0.8% is most narrow. This scenario would give Romney 275 electoral votes.

With nineteen days left in the campaign, OH and FL appear to be the most crucial toss-up states, but this one is going to go down to the wire.

It will be interesting to watch unfold on election night.

Oh yes. The Doors. Jim Morrison drank himself to death at age 27 (or was it a drug overdose?) Fine young man. Showed up drunk to most of his concerts. Exposed himself on stage. After his death, his bandmates limped along for a couple more years.

At the other end of the spectrum, Bruce Springsteen: family man, great musician. His daughter was one of the alternates for the American Equestrian team in the 2012 Olympics.

Anyone who votes for a candidate solely on the basis that he or she is endorsed by a "celebrity" is an utter, complete moron. This country is doomed because people don't learn about the issues and form their own opinions. Celebrities are the least qualified people to tell anyone what to do. Many of them never finished high school. Many are drug addicts. Most have more money than God and don't have the slightest clue what it's like to try to survive on the average income of a family of four, which is around $50,000 per year.

OHIO: If you are at a polling place that doesn't have a paper ballot, BE SURE to vote early.

However, everybody who possibly can should vote early, because the Supreme Court ruling still has allowed fewer polling places in Democrat districts (based on numbers who went to the polls in 2011 in an off-year).

So, VOTE EARLY. Vote Democrat if you care at all about women. Republicans have made rape legal in Georgia, and have signed a pledge to make the same law the law across the country.

Ohio has signs in Democrat districts paid for by Republicans threatening a $10,000 fine for voter fraud. Why giant billboards in these neighborhoods? This is intimidation. There isn't voter fraud in these places; there are so many poll watchers. A negative campaign against the other candidate is to be expected in an election, but a negative campaign against American citizens?

The only thing you need to vote: You must be 18. You must be a citizen. You must be a registered voter. If you have ANY questions at all (and there is NO stupid question), ask the Board of Elections. Vote early if at all possible, because they have fewer polling places and some have changed location. Call the Board of Elections to find out where and when you can vote. Don't wait.

Cellphone manufacturing has been in China for a long time already. Yesterday on the news they said that people owning smart phones just past the 1 billion mark. And they expect the 2 billion mark to be crossed in 1-3 more years. If we could move that manufacturing back, whether it's Apple or whomever, think of the potential boost in jobs and the economy. Up the tariffs on all incoming cell phones and it could happen. But people like Romney and Josh Mandel kiss the corporate a$$es that has their manufacturing there. So if we want those jobs don't dare vote Republican!

The Left's True Colors Shown - War on Women - Racism - Hate (Bad for America)

"Clueless" star Stacey Dash recently tweeted her support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Dash supported Obama in 2008.

But now her political viewpoint has become the subject of online attacks, with many expressing crude distaste that she isn't endorsing President Obama – and race has become a key motivator behind the digital abuse.

"You're an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You're voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot," one Twitter user wrote, while @Black Voice wrote, "Stacey Dash had a perm since birth. I knew I couldn't trust her.. lol."

Others accused the actress of "voting for white supremacy," claiming she "is white with a dark tan," and calling Dash a slew of offensive names.

Several other Obama supporters even went as far as to encourage "the old hag" to "kill herself."

One suicide encourager is listed as a doctor and politically active Democrat in Washington D.C., and although he reportedly has deleted the inflammatory "kill yourself" tweet, it was captured by social media news site.

Can women really feel the liberal love?

They want your vote and then you're done...many are awakening to this reality...ask Stacey Dash

I also heard on the PBS News Hour the other day that the problem with China devaluing its currency is no longer as serious a problem as Romney tried to make it sound; thanks to Obama's policies. The PBS News Hour has won many awards over the years for fair and balanced news reporting. I just wonder if Romney's threat to cut their funding is going to affect their reporting of news regarding Romney. I doubt it, but they must really find it difficult to restrain themselves.

The election is over and Romney will win by a landslide. All of the momentum is on the side of Romney. Obama lost the election on October 3rd, in the first debate. That evening, Romney completely destroyed over $100 million dollars worth of negative advertising when America saw the "real" Mitt Romney - not the Mitt Romney that Obama & company created in their false advertising.

billybob, he's doing nothing to help Chicago because he doesn't have to. He knows the blacks will vote for him regardless, even if their lives are 100 times worse than they were 4 years ago. That whole "Trayvon could be my son" was BS, it was inappropriate coming from the President. Obama may have dark skin, but he isn't "black", he has grown up with middle-class or rich white people. His wife has more of an idea of what it is like to be a black person living in the USA. Perhaps she should enlighten him.

actually once all the smoke has cleared the consensus is that romney was again right and obama was wrong. i think romney will raise this again in the next debate. what story will obama tell next time?

and why did obama drop the line about having al aqeda on the run from his stump speech?

I hope that comment was posted on your Facebook page, Julia. You do want everyone you know to see that, right?

So your problem with President Obama is that he's not black enough for you? Or is it that he's too black? He can't have ever known racism because he grew up with middle-class white people? (no, honey, they weren't rich).

Let me say this: you have no idea what it means to be treated with disdain, based on the color of your skin. Get down off your high horse, sister. President Obama has been subject to racism every moment of his life.

You will never know his burdens...you could never shoulder them.

He's had to deal with more racism? Him and his administration have set this country backwards with racism due to them pushing it to the forefront along with the hardcore libs such as bev and FR. Then you look at the twitter feeds come out about actresses supporting Romney and the assassination threats towards Romney, the racism from the left is astounding... as they blame all the racism on the right.

And no... he will never go down as one of the greatest presidents, and there is no room on mt rushmore.

Women, if you vote for Romney, you vote for the rapist who got off free of all charges in Georgia because he raped a disabled girl who was not able to fight back. The Republicans have signed on to these laws. No matter what anybody says at a debate, the Ryan-Akins bill is what they have signed, and what they will do. It is serious; all they have to do is flood the U.S. Supreme Court with the tea party.

I take my medication every day. It's all that keeps me alive and it costs a fortune thanks to low information voters like you who oppose all attempts to make health care more affordable in this country. I am forced to delay my retirement (after 50 years of work) because of the outrageous cost of health care in this country. Healthcare costs vehemently protected by the GOP who are wholly owned and financed by the health care industry.

Wake up and smell the coffee Dude, it's the 21st century. Lincoln freed the slaves, homosexuality is not a crime and women make up more than half of the work force. It's not the 19th century anymore and we don't need a 19th century robber baron as our President.

I suggest you invest some time in watching something other than FOX news or listening to Rush Limbaugh. You might be surprised to find that the world, and in particular the President, are very different from what you have been told by the right wing propagandists.

Romney lied, and lied, and lied. He SIGNED on to the Republican PLATFORM that is anti-women. Not just "choice," or anything to do with abortion, but women's right to justice after rape.

My husband has cancer. If he dies, the fact that he could earn twice what I could for the same pay will not help my family. If you think that this kind of discrimination helps families, think again. Only Obama will defend these rights. It has NOTHING at all to do with "choice" but EVERYTHING to do with employment and justice.

Bruce Springsteen may not live the middle-class life, but he sure has a knack for writing about it in a way that makes you believe he understands it.

"The Ghost of Tom Joad" was a poetic exploration of the ives of the 'forgotten', from migrant workers to illegal immigrants.

"Mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy

Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries

Where there's a fight 'gainst the blood and hatred in the air

Look for me Mom I'll be there

Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand

Or decent job or a helpin' hand

Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free

Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me."

The Ghost of Tom Joad – Bruce Springsteen

"The Rising" was an emotional detailing of the pain the nation felt after the tragedy of 9/11.

His latest album "Wrecking Ball" is mostly an ode to America and it's blue-collar workers. From the opening of "We Take Care of Our Own", to the anger of "Shackled and Drawn", and the simple beauty of "Jack of All Trades" - Bruce he makes it clear he 'feels our pain'.

Great morning light splits through the chain

Another day older and closer to the grave

I'm closer to the grave and come the dawn

I woke this morning shackled and drawn

I always love the feel of sweat on my shirt

Stand back, son, and let a man work

Let a man work, is that so wrong

I woke up this morning shackled and drawn

Freedom, son, is a dirty shirt

The sun on my face and my shovel in the dirt

The shovel in the dirt keeps the devil gone

I woke up this morning shackled and drawn

Gambling man rolls the dice, working man pays the bills

It's still fat and easy up on bankers hill

Up on bankers hill the party's going strong

Down here below we're shackled and drawn

Shackled and drawn, shackled and drawn

Pick up the rock, son, and carry it on

Trudging through the dark in a world gone wrong

Woke up this morning shackled and drawn

Matt - Yes Bruce is one of the 1% but unlike Romney he cares about the other 99%. His income is also taxed at the higher "Earned Income" rate.

I'm willing to bet Bruce doesn't have his own Cayman Island investment company. He invests heavily in local NJ real estate and businesses. He promotes local food banks when he tours.

I also like "We Take Care of Our Own"---the song for the 99%.

                  @TNsevol,

I seriously pity you. Springsteen can't even touch Nugent music wise (writing, singing, guitar).

A much better person? Nugent is drug free, a family man, active in the outdoors, major support of our men/women in uniform, etc.

I don't have anything against Springsteen (except he's an obama supporter, but that's just a brain condition, not his fault), but to slam Nugent as a person.... wow.

Well AlexM - I guess you don't know how Nugent evaded the Viet Nam draft - well I'll tell you - he lived, urinated and shat in his clothes for two months before he appeared before the draft board

Stinking so much - he was declared to be mentally ill - now if he where a Mormon like Willard he could avoided all that and be sent to France to live in a chateau

                  Get this....

The Tracking poll below has +7 Democrat on it's sample and it says: "Obama maintained a minuscule 46.2% to 45.7% edge on day 10 of our tracking poll, the first indication of a post-debate bounce."

This is funny because the poll had Obama up 1% yesterday. And reading the rest of what they said in the summary it would lead everyone to believe Romney is kicking ash.

                  IBD/TIPP 2012 Presidential Election
                  Daily Tracking Poll

                  Day 10: Oct. 18, 2012

                  Obama: +0.5
                  Obama 46.2% | Romney 45.7%

                  • Obama maintained a minuscule 46.2% to 45.7% edge on day 10 of our tracking poll, the first indication of a post-debate bounce.
                  • Romney appeared to regain some of his earlier traction with independents, holding an 11-point lead with them, up from five points a day before.
                  • Obama's lead among all women narrowed to just 4 points from 7 points, with Romney now opening the gap among white women with a 10-point lead in that group.
                  • Over the past three days, Obama has lost about 5 points among 18-44 year old voters.

I asked by buddy whom I was visiting, when did this start happening.

He said, after the first debate, and even more today (which was the day after the second debate).

amy -- several folks comment how everyone they know is going to vote for obama. this is fascinating. do you inquire of everyone you meet what their political affiliation is?

i work for a company which employs about 4000 globally half of which are in the states. i interact on a frequent basis with a hundred or so and to a much lesser degree the others. i have never asked a colleague about their political affiliation. in some cases i know their politics when discussed over a meal or a beverage but that in no way influences our professional relationship. so i know people that will vote for obama and people that will vote for romney and people that will vote libertarian and will vote green.

do you refuse to associate with people with whom you disagree politically?

There are plenty of Obama supporters out there. I am from OHIO folks. Yes, OHIO. And I have always known both Democrats and Republicans.

However, there is SERIOUS voter suppression in Ohio this year, such as Republican billboards in known places where there are more Democrats that intimidate voters. There are fewer polling places, and the locations have changed. Vote early if you want to be sure your vote is counted with a paper ballot. Ask the Board of Elections where.

                  Robert,

Don't worry about the polls. The vote on Nov.6th is what counts. These righties are the same ones who two weeks ago were whining about how unfair these very same polls when it showed their guy behind. How you couldn't believe any of them as it was a conspiracy to make their guy look bad. Now all of a sullen they are the "holy scriptures". Crack me up!

Actually, I like President Obama in a tight race. At least we won't take it for granted that it will be a landslide and not get out the vote. That's the whole game right now, get out the vote. This just helps to make sure we do that.

Poor Bill. Must be tough campaigning for a guy who's destroyed your wife politically....Hey Bill! Don't you understand this means she'll be home every night!!

Wow, I must vote for Obama if Springsteen tells me too because I'm a democrat and can't think for myself. I need the government and celebrities to direct my course in life. Reality is not important.

                    BoB

that is a double edged sword my friend. I am a Republican and I must vote for Romney because the Koch brothers and Rush Limpauagh and Hannity, Grover Norquist and FOX news said I must since I cannot think for myself.

I am an Independent, thinking for myself is the reason that I am. You know, I would consider a good ol moderate Republican, I simply do not see how people can get behind Romney knowing that he is just the face, the election this year has Nothing to do with Romney, the goal is to get the Tea Party Faction of the Republican party elected. It scares the hell out of me that guys like the Koch boys twitch their nose and the right side of the isle jumps.

Well............whoopee.........Hussein has a bunch of "entertainers" from Hollywood and music stumping for him..........so what? Those so-called "entertainers" all think their sh*t don't stink and for some reason they all think they know more than the rest of us normal people.

Hussein will have Chavez, Castro, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Eva Longoria, Springsteen, Behar, Goldberg and all his other extremist supporters with him in the Muslim afterlife.

I agree with the idea that the entertainers are anything more than just normal people, they just don't see it that way and expect something because they can stand in front of a camera and act...

As for the President being Muslim, you have been mislead I am afraid, he is a christian American much like you I suspect.

What a bunch of garbage. I will vote for Romney, because I like his plan, better then Obama's policys for the past 4 years. O have seen what each has done, and to be it is not even a contest. Even Romney's healthcare was at least voted on by th people of Mass. I can't say that for Obama's version, which was done behind closed doors. We got it even though 67% didn't want it. We have less rich, less middleclass and more poor in the last 4 years. I think most would even take Bush back, because they miss the 5.4% unemployment, $1.80 gas prices.

Bill said Barack looked like he was going to cry when he got the question from the black man at the debate.

Yup, tweets, that was the moment when Obama was finished off in this election.

Some say Obama won that debate, but that moment sealed his fate.

It showed Obama had nothing to help the guy, Romney does.

There is nothing Obama can do know. Too little too late.

I don't think so, Obama doesn't care about that man or frankly anyone except himself. His only goal is to be relected to do his agenda. He will do what he wants to because he know he will not have to run again.

Pathetic... a sad minstrel show for obama so that his followers do not look at facts. Anyone old enough to remember when Bill went on Arsenio to play his sax? Like something out of a 1930's crime/corruption movie.
