I'll take President Obama's performance last night over money spent on ads. I'll also take Obama's GOTV ground game over all the ads Karl Rove can muster.

Romney is now the "Leader of the non-working, do nothing, filibustering GOP controlled congress with an all time low approval of 7%."

With a record 500+ filibusters, PLEDGES to NEVER generate more cash for the government, ZERO compromises, voter suppression and intimidation, creating war on women, and with NO record of any accomplishments or anything done for the country in 40 years.

The undecided voters keep ignoring or are not aware that the REAL culprits behind the slow recovery on the economy and jobs are the "obstructionist" Republicans controlling congress with cloture and filibusters to stop job legislation and halt Obama's agenda to fix the economy.

Only a "super majority" can stop the Republican obstruction of the past 4 years.

Obama doesn't have a supermajority, Obama only has the senate by ONE and the GOP owns the house and CONTROLS all legislation.

We have a communication problem if these undecided voters are not aware that the GOP has done NOTHING but get in the way of passing bills to promote job and economy growth.

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Every day, all across the world, American diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of our nation. Often, they are away from their families. Sometimes, they brave great danger.

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We're working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I've also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.

Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It's especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

I do not care who you are Dem/GOP, if you are not disgusted with the amount of money being spent this election cycle then, there is something wrong with all of us. We need to change how we fund our elections. We have to find away to take back the process. While I hope my guy win, this will be bitter sweet, because no matter who comes out on top, the special interest groups will get their "relief".

cjsks - this actually is sort of partisan, in that the republicans truly believe that Citizens United, the ruling that gave corporations the opening to allow unlimited campaign donations, is good. Democrats for the most part only use Super Pacs to even the playing field, but would rather see it abolished. Don't forget Romney's infamous quote: "Corporations are people my friend". We absolutely need to overturn Citizens United and set firm limits on the amount of donations each person can contribute to a candidate, otherwise, the politician is "bought" by the biggest contributors!

And the media companies are loving the windfall profits.

80% of all the super PAC money comes from 196 individuals.

Why is the majority of Americans removed from the election? Unless you live in one of the 8 or 9 swing states all of this advertising is passing you by. Maybe if we were all involved it would slow don the negative advertising and at least push up participation rates.

BTW Gallop tracking now has Romney up by 6 and on the MSNBC voter focus group of 8 Romney had 2 definites and 3 maybees; Obama was 1 definite and 2 maybees. Romney was favored 3 to 1 by the women on the group. Obama needs help from his debate performance.

Why would any sane person vote for a president who continues to govern with a socialist agenda? When, it is a fact that socialism is the beginning of communism, because the money will eventually run out, as it has throughout history of the world wherever socialism has been. Then, after communism comes the dictatorship.

Remember, the steps of socialism, which always turn into a dictatorship, are:

1) a government starts and continues to spend more than it has

2) yearly government deficits continue to grow and begin massively adding to the national debt, which itself begins to get huge

3) other countries stop lending money because they do not believe it will ever be paid back, or, if it will, they do not want an inflated return, which would be valued less than they originally lent

4) austerity measures are put in place because the government all of the sudden "realizes" it cannot continue spending more than it has

5) the printing presses crank up and cause severe inflation

6) the government comes in and mandates price controls of everything, causing massive bankruptcies of businesses

7) because of this "emergency", the government comes in and claims imminent domain of every business

8) the money then becomes worthless because of hyper-inflation

9) the government now dictates, from the highest leader of that government (the dictator) exactly what your job will be and the base wage (pennies) that you will receive

but not with us REAL AMERICANS!

In Ohio anti-Obama ads outnumber anti-Romney ads by 4 to 1 yet Obama still leads in Ohio.

The polls got it wrong with Reagan Carter, and history is set to repeat itself. When you have Obama going to New Hampshire to campaign for four electoral votes at this point in the race, you can bet they know something the mainstream media is not reporting. The polls are being skewed to make it appear close in an effort to energize the voters. Both campaigns know the Romney base is going to turn out, but with so many occasional or first time voters going for Obama the last time around, the question is will they show up again?

I agree many of those companies could've taken that money and spent it on the company (new equipment, workforce, training, ect) and got way more out of it then this. I suppose if your guy wins maybe they get something back for it but really at the end of the day might as well burn the money especially if the one you back loses. So sad. Even worse when you have companies intimidating employees (call what you want it is intimidation) about hard times and affording stuff yet the money wasted on trying to buy an election but could've been spent on the employees, real crazy I know.

Yes, It is time to get a real third party in here and stop this two choice option. One that could hopefully take the good from both sides and apply it together in a way that is actually good for the country as a whole. There should always be at least a third party that takes part in these debates, no relegated to a sideshow no point secondary debate. We also need campaign finance reform, with laws that have teeth and are enforced (should stop seeing articles like this), level playing field and spending for both sides, along with kicking out lobbyists and reigning them in, and term limits to name a few. All things that would change the toxic landscape we now see in DC. Will it happen? Not holding my breath but I know if we finally come together and stop letting those clowns divide us it could and likely would.

Because the undecideds really don't pay attention to the BS ads??? Most people are totally turned off by the invasion of their homes at this point in an election with all of the radio/tv ads, robocalls during mealtime, etc. That is why every one of you should have become involved in the Popular Amendment Movement over two years ago and helped to pass the two constitutional amendments at www.faircampaignreform.us. We could have changed the entire way our federal elections are run (and you could have done the same thing within your state by modifying the ECFR amendment to be state oriented.)

But has anyone even considered how much of that $800M has actually gone right back into the pockets of the big donors? Who actually gets all of that money that is being spent on these ads? It's not the lowly workers at the local stations carrying the ads. It is the top executives and the shareholders.

BTW, for those who have been too lazy to check out the PAM website, here are the two amendments. Get involved now to make changes before 2014/16.

Petition for US Constitutional Amendment For Election Reform

We, the undersigned US citizens, duly registered voters in our respective states/territories, do hereby petition for our state to approve the following amendment to the United States Constitution by the method noted below.

Election Reform:
1. Abolish the Electoral College (Repeal Amendment 12)
2. ONE NATIONAL primary date to be held on the Tuesday eight (8) weeks prior to the General Election day for Congressional offices and for the President. Candidate petitions must be filed with the local/state elections boards 60 days prior to the Primary Election date. 6. NO third party campaigning (separate PAC ads, corporate ads, etc.) for/against any candidate shall be allowed at any time during or before the election season.
7. NO party conventions shall be held to select the presidential candidates. The selection must be done at the ballot box in the primary election.
8. The One Man/One Vote Supreme Court ruling shall be enforced by this Amendment, namely that NO federal candidate selection shall be by any means other than the ballot box on Primary/General Election Dates.
9. National Party Organizations shall NOT raise money for or donate to specific candidates of their party prior to the dates outlined above.
10. PAC’s shall NOT be granted tax-exempt status by the IRS, and any non-profit organization who uses their funding for political purposes shall lose their tax-exempt status.
11. All lobbyists shall be outlawed from influencing Congress at all times.

No PACS period. INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS is who gets to vote...so the campaign giving should be by JUST them and a very low limit at that.

See my post above. If everyone here had gotten involved in PAM over two years ago, we might have passed these amendments and done exactly what everyone screams we need to do. The campaign restrictions and bans of the ECFR amendment, as well as the foreshortened campaign season for Federal Elections would accomplish exactly what needs to be done...overturn the SCOTUS Citizens United ruling. ONLY a constitutional amendment can overturn that ruling, since anything else that Congress might pass can once again be overturned by the SCOTUS.

You hear a lot about Abraham Lincoln being such a great president. Abraham Lincoln wouldnt be given the time of day NOW because he was poor. Concentrated wealth causes depressions (not deficits). We are under Communist rule RIGHT now because wealth has been taken from the middle class and poor and distributed out so that the rich ALL stay rich. Where is your proof that that money has provided lots of jobs? Just a few ad agencies controlled by the very people who donated the money. It sure doesn't provide for any additional jobs at the media where the ads are placed. I guess you have never worked in any of the media. NO additional jobs are added at a station during campaign seasons just to place all of these ads that are submitted to them electronically now. And the "ad buy" money does NOT go to the workers, but to the profits of the corporate station owners (most often the very people who put up the donor money in the first place. It is just another way of laundering and writing off their money on their taxes.)

BTW, I spent five years working for a multi-media company, so I know at least a little bit about how that money comes in and where it goes.
