2012: Two more tight polls

Latest polls: National: Washington Post/ABC has Obama up 49-46%, Politico/GW: Obama 48-47%. In the states: AZ: A Rocky Mountain Poll (with interviews in both English and Spanish) finds Obama leading 44-42%.

“Economists foresee only tepid growth for the coming year, with unemployment back above 8 percent for the first half of 2013,” the AP writes. “The good news: The housing market is recovering faster than expected and the economy likely won't fall off a ‘fiscal cliff.’ The quarterly survey by the National Association for Business Economists released Monday predicts growth will be weak overall but should slowly accelerate through 2013.”

Ad spending is approaching $800 million. So far, the campaigns and outside groups have spent a total of $776 million.

“There’s no doubt that TV advertising has the power to shift voter perceptions, particularly when a candidate is not well known,” AP writes. “Romney prevailed in the Republican primaries after he and his allies buried his two main rivals with negative advertising in early voting states. Obama’s team tagged Romney as a ruthless corporate raider with a flood of negative advertising in the early stages of the general election. The ads may have shaped perceptions in states such as Ohio, where Obama has held a narrow lead in polling for weeks. Even so, the unprecedented level of spending this year on ads hasn’t changed many minds, according to one analyst. ‘There’s not much bang for the buck,’ says John Geer, a political science professor at Vanderbilt University who studies presidential campaign advertising. ‘The public is pretty much set on who they will vote for and only a tiny slice is up for grabs.’”

“With the White House race barreling toward the finish, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney were staying out of the spotlight Monday, underscoring the intense focus each campaign is placing on the second presidential debate,” the AP writes.

“The Obama and Romney campaigns on Sunday continued to spar over the government’s response to violence in Libya, with Republicans charging that the Obama administration deliberately misled the public and the president’s reelection team accusing Mitt Romney of politicizing an attack that killed four Americans,” the Boston Globe writes.

I did this weekend. It was great talking with people.

One of the things I enjoyed most was sharing how the 2010 Congress passed the small business tax write off. We saw significant sales boosts in the second half of 2011 (100% write off). At the start of 2012, there was a slowdown, but we're seeing significant order increases as businesses want our equipment installed by the end of the year. (50% write off)

These businesses are telling us they wish the 2011-2012 Congress would have listened to President Obama and extended this write off.

I talk about dozens of small businesses in the area that are rushing to complete work for this write off.

It really sinks in that President Obama and the Democratic Congress of 2010 has been fighting for us.

The Republican Party voted NO to all 32 bills that would make American jobs.

Jun 5 -S.3240 - Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Bill of 2012

Jun 23 - H.R.4213 - American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Bill of 2010

Jun 29 - S.2237 - Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Bill

Jul 17 - S.3364 - Bring Jobs Home Bill This would have moved American Manufacturing Companies back to the United States or they would pay millions in taxes each year until they did.

Jul 11 - S.2237 - Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Bill

Aug 5 - H.R.5297 - Small Business Jobs and Credit Bill of 2010

Sep 12 - S.3457 - Veterans Jobs Corps Bill and S. Amdt. 2789 Bill. Support Our Troops! Everyone coming home would have a job! Only the Republican congress said

Sep 24 - S.3816 - Creating American Jobs and Ending Off Shoring Bill

Oct 6 - S.1660 - American Jobs Bill of 2011

Nov 1 - S.1769 - Rebuild America Jobs Bill. This one bill would have made way over 60 million American job only in the United States. Only the Republican Congress NO!

Nov 3 - H.R.674 - 3% Withholding Repeal and Job Creation Bill

Nov 30 - S.1917 - A bill to create jobs by providing payroll tax relief for middle class families and businesses

Dec 15 - H.R.3630 - Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Bill of 2011

There are alot more bills Republican will not pass. These ones will have put Americans back to work. The Republican Representatives no longer represented the everyday Americans. They only represent millionaires! Why? Because they are millionaires. We the People need to vote them out of office. Put them in the unemployment line and /or welfare line and see how they like it. I call it as I see it. THE REPUBLICAN TERRORISTS PARTY!

Debbie: your description of what is going on is the problem with the tax code. If the government taxed at a very low rate ALL gross income, with ZERO deductions, we would be better off. There would be no tax preference items.

That way, each business would be on its own, to sink or swim. If the government wanted to support a business, it would have to actually spend the money, instead of just giving out tax preference items.

Of course, that will never happen, it makes too much sense and having to get real cash money is so much harder for some lobbyist to get through.

The request for more security in Libya was for the embassy.

The embassy is several hundred miles from the compound that was attacked.

Excellent point. So many of the nay-sayers don't realize the difference between an embassy compound and a consulate compound.

The other thing about this "additional security request", given what we know about the nature of the attack there is a high degree of probability that the security detachment would have been killed also.

Embassy (I use this phrase to describe both the actual embassy compound as well as ancillary locations like the consulate compound in Benghazi) security outside of the compound is the responsibility of the HOST nation. Given the state of turmoil in Lybia, their lack of a strong, competent government, and the political turmoil that has resulted as a consequence of Omar Gaddafi being overthrown are all factors in the success of the terrorist attack.

The other thing that is overlooked in this case is why ambassador Stevens was traveling in this area on 9/11. I'm not faulting his actions but rather questioning the decision to have him outside of the embassy on that day of all days.

As with all things, 20/20 hindsight is more often than not a case of "shoulda, woulda, coulda meaning we can second-guess all we like but it will not change the outcome of what took place.

My hope is that both political parties will dial back the rhetoric and work towards changes that will reduce the likelihood of this type of attack occurring again.

I thought Ambassador Stevens was incredibly courageous to represent America in Libya. From what I understand, he was there from the beginning of the overthrow of Qaddafy. The Obama administration took a chance, sending diplomats in, but they obviously believed in putting their money where their mouth was.

The Libyan people respect the Ambassador's sacrifice, even if the American people seem to have forgotten. It must not be said he died in vain. America is getting criticized for not invading Syria, but look at our Ambassador's sacrifice in Libya. He died bringing about democracy and peace in the Middle East. We should honor him for his work, and respect the Obama administration in their grief.

Voyager before I go into the exact links from Washington Post and others .....

Ask yourself the question ...The Intel Reports were generated by the State....

The State knew within 24 hours...If he was truly reading the reports that he gets every morning ...Then was Biden Lying when he said they just did not know ...Or did they read the reports and advance the Lie to the American Public about the video being the cause of the Spontaneous attack or was a planned attack by an associated group from Al-Queda...

My friends and co-workers are all voting straight Republican. From President to dog-catcher.

Some Democrats may be decent, but they bear the dreaded "D" after their name, and that makes them guilty by association.

Too late to try and get religion now. They are all toast. Burnt toast that no one wants to eat anymore.

Barrack has had his chance, and he is a miserable failure.

Time for a REAL leader, not a golfer. Time for Mitt Romney for the next EIGHT YEARS.

Anyone who dished out the nonsense you just put out is a low information voter, any of your friends who countenance and contemplate what you just says is a moron. You mean we should let people like R/R ticket and Bush jr. advisers repeat what mess they just left us, the way they tanked the economy? Can you let us know what new initiative they are bringing to the table except more tax cut for the rich which they are unable to tell us how to pay for it. I mean the 5 trillion big one. Romney denied any knowledge of it during his debate with the President and Ryan dodged once about insufficient time to explain and in the last debate with the vice president with all the time in the world he still could not explain how he will pay for such a huge tax coupled with the Bush tax which they said they will make permanent. Are you serious? They want to trick us middle class again because we will be the ones to pay for it once the election is over and the rascals are empowered, again when the economy thanked once again. Are you a 1% ter to gain from such 20% tax cut abrecedebra?

No one ever asked to see mitt romney's birth certificate why?

Maybe it was made in Mexico.

Mitt Romney refuses to release his tax returns from the years prior to 2010. WHY?

Why is mitt romney getting away with Illegal Campaign Donations from China?

        Goldman Sachs $891,140

        Bank of America $668,139

        JPMorgan Chase & Co $663,219

        Morgan Stanley $649,847

        Credit Suisse Group $554,066

        Citigroup Inc $418,263

        Wells Fargo $414,750

        Barclays $403,800

        Kirkland & Ellis $393,667

        Deloitte LLP $355,390

        HIG Capital $338,000

        PricewaterhouseCoopers $333,600

        Blackstone Group $308,725

        UBS AG $308,130

        Elliott Management $281,175

        Bain Capital $268,470

        EMC Corp $257,250

        General Electric $214,450

        Ernst & Young $213,525

        Sullivan & Cromwell $197,150

Why is it that every time Romney gets caught doing illegal things fox news comes up with a bullsit story about Obama doing it? Obama shows all Real campaign donations. I have been out of work for over a year now and gave $50 in a money order. People like Romney who make millions each year will a lot more if Romney and the kid get into office and the everyday American will really be getting it up the butt.

One last thing, why did the Republican Party said NO to all 32 bills that would make American jobs?

Why because if all the bills were passed, unemployment would be right now at around 4.3% and it's not the first time the Republican Party has done this. Look it up yourself. Please don't take my word. Open congress or open government. If you like a good job then do not vote for the republicans.

I like calling this party for what it is. THE REPUBLICAN TERRORISTS PARTY!

Joseph E. Parent- Stop with the golf BS....did you criticize Bush for heading to his "ranch" so often? I guess you would criticize Pres. Obama for using the bathroom too much. I say he's a fabulous president who cares about EVERYONE. NOT just the 53%. And he has accomplished FAR more than Bush did in his 8 miserable years as a COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE.

Tight polls phase is over. Obama is no more leading. His failure on all fronts - economy (recession and unemployment) foreign policy (murder of American ambassador, bloodbath in Syria , Putin's dominance and Iran's defiance). There is nothing on record during the 4-year Obama presidency to show as a single achievement. Another term will be disastrous for Americans, for he has allowed the inundation of all American cities by illegal immigrants, and if elected, he will open the floodgates for immigrants from the Middle East, and Americans will become a minority in their own country. There is a mass upsurge against Obama after voters were enlightened by the speeches of Romney and Ryan.
