VIDEO: The Week Ahead: Who will take de-bate?

President Obama and Mitt Romney face off in Round 2 of the presidential debates. Can President Obama recover? Will Romney deliver another strong performance? And the first Week Ahead debate!

Discuss this post

*chuckling at your play on words*

My prediction is that Romney will try to emphasize his plan to CRAFT policy, using both sides of the aisle, instead of a plan to CRAM policy down the other side of the aisle's throat.

And Obama will ineffectively try to use the 47% remarks. The reference keeps falling flat in debates because there's too much context involved.

Romney will win, but this time it won't be by default.

"O" won't let Mitten's off the hook so easily this time. No matter what personality Cybel brings to the debate, O will be ready for him. By the way, the bump NitMitt got is already starting to diminish.

Barack and Joe...what a team...

.

Joe is like a brother to Barack, they are best buddies, best pal. I am sure Barack is Joe's boss, but...

.

Joe did last night what a brother can do best ...

.

there is fraternity, there is friendship...there is hope ... for us all...

.

FORWARD...

"a new hope"

Republicans can't even be original in their campaign slogan. I think "Romney: not caring about the 47% who don't pay federal taxes," is more accurate.

GT, whenever you reference "O" I think of Oprah. Then I think about how big of an influence she was in the last election. Where is the left's star power this time around? Where's George Clooney and Matt Damon? (Not trying to be snide; I'm genuinely curious why the star power hasn't turned out for Obama as much as last time.)

And Amy, I'm not a Republican. So if you want to blame me for the play on words with Obama's 'hope' campaign, you should say that "INDEPENDENTS can't even be original in their campaign slogan." Just sayin'.

What kind of "Independent Moderate" supports a Republican who wants to defund Planned Parenthood, an organization thousands of women depend on for healthcare and contraception, while working to criminalize abortion?
Then there is the plan to privatize Social Security and Medicare.

Politicians talk, and talk, and unfortunately talk. What is important to many is the image they give during these debates.

Debate one - Obama smirked, and appeared bored with the proceedings. He lost and that image is still in the minds of many.

VP Debate - Biden laughs, rude, and rather manic in his appearance. Ryan, looked calm and professional compared to Joe.,

Because of his lackluster performance in the first debate, Obama may try to overdue and again look bad.

These poor performances by the Dems may have a profound image in the minds of voters.

Let's hope nothing happens to the President from now to the election, for I would hate to have Joe step in as the new leader.

Amy, what you call defund, I call fund PRIVATELY. It's very easy as an independent to support a candidate that lets ME decide what programs to send my money to, instead of having my money at the mercy of whoever happens to be in charge at the time. I like having the control myself. Fund planned parenthood? I can do that personally. And personally funding the things I appreciate is a lot more satisfying. I feel like I'm doing good directly. I'm happy to cut out the middle man. Same goes for PBS. I'll happily donate my money personally.

POTUS has got to be one of the toughest jobs in the world. Romney seeks the office to increase his own power and glory. President Obama has spent his entire adult life in service to his communities and his country.

Sure Romney was as aggressive in his debate as a New Jersey Housewife in a catfight, but President Obama has been a steadfast, calm, astute and persistent leader through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. The Romney Show wouldn't stay popular more than a couple of episodes.

The next debate:

Topic: Town meeting format including foreign and domestic policyAir Time: 9:00-10:30 p.m. Eastern TimeLocation: Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York (Tickets)Sponsor: Commission on Presidential DebatesParticipants: President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt RomneyModerator: Candy Crowley (CNN Chief Political Correspondent)The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization.

i like the town hall meeting style, with questions coming from a variety of people.

Obama will be great.

Romney, wonder which one will show up . The extremely conservative one or the moderate one. Either way, he will look very uncomfortable in his skin. He always does.

I read somewhere that since it's a town hall format, Pizza Hut is offering free pizza for life (about $15,000 worth!) to the first person in the hall who manages to work "Pepperoni or sausage?" into their question.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that turns out to be Mitt!

Thanks for the info Northstar! I too really appreciate town hall style. Mitt's going to have to look at the public and respond to them directly. We all know how he comes off when actually having to deal with the other 99% of the country.

Last night was a pleasant victory for Team Obama. While many are calling it a draw, to watch Biden call Ryan out on his lies. PRICELESS and a WIN! I know our President will come to the next debate fired up and ready to go.

It's like Ted Kennedy said of Romney: "I'm pro-choice and he's multiple choice."

One never knows which version Mittens will play, but he has done the marketing research to decide which 'product' is most appealing to consumers (aka the voters). I'll think they'll be smart enough not to buy what he's selling.

I expect to see an energized and forceful Obama in the next debate, and Candy Crowley will be every bit as tough as Martha Raddatz, who was light years ahead of Jim Lehrer as a moderator.

The President doesn't have to do much to improve on his somnolent performance and the challenger has high expectations to meet based on his performance.

Predictions that are guaranteed to get no respect;

The big story after the 2nd debate will be about the "all important" 3rd debate. But I'm sure that it will be entertaining and that the losing team of #2 will blame both the opponents LIES and save some vitriol for the "biased" moderator, and the extra 77 seconds the other guy got.

The polls will "tighten" in the "battleground" states in the final days before the election (Although 35% of the vote will already have been cast.)

Then it will come down to Ohio, Florida and you pick one.

They will battle over keeping the polls open late in Michigan, Illinois and pick one.

Local news story on right now. Those 50,000 people Obama promised that he would be back so they could go to some type of event (if you remember they moved the acceptance speech into the arena from the stadium due to weather concerns and dropped the attendance from some 68,000 to a little over 17,000) are wondering when and if. They contacted the Obama campaign and they said there was no current plan to come back to Charlotte. Gee, must have slipped his mind like cutting the deficit in half (or this will be a one term deal) Gitmo, UE rate below 6% and a few select others. And Romney/Ryan lie? I think he was hoping they would forget it but if you see the people they interviewed for the story, I don't think they will.

Quite frankly the news said 50,000 not me. They are taking the numbers they were given a month ago. I still don't think they had 68 or whatever thousand they said they did. And I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut there was a lot of whoever that were from out of town and still won't be able to come for a "one night stand".

And "after his re-election"? I guess it is good for you to believe. I have an idea, why doesn't he come to Charlotte on election night and then he can give his victory OR defeat address. Either way, the people win. Well not ALL people, but the rest of us will either cheer because he is out or plan on how we are to survive four more years.

We're talking good people who do a lot for those less fortunate - George Clooney; Matt Damon; Beyonce; Jon bon Jovi - all give of their time and money. They are ten times the peole Grover Norquist or the Koch Bros will eer be!

And, they are more leaders than either Romney or Ryan.

This posting is directed at all of the true conservative Christians that read these threads, to better inform you of whom you will really be voting for, if you happen to decide to vote for Romney/Ryan.

Your Republican Party has been taken over by a bunch of Ayn Rand Disciples, and which Paul Ryan happens to be a devoted believer of Ayn Rand’s philosophies.

And, as for Romney, I’m not sure just what he is, but what we do know is, he’s a pathological liar besides being a borderline psychopath.

As David Stockman who happened to be Ronald Reagan’s budget director once said, The Republican Party has been infiltrated and taken over by a bunch of Nuts!

Now, back to Ayn Rand, do you people have any idea of what Ayn Rand’s philosophies were?

If not, her philosophies were centered around Objectivism.

Whereas, selfishness is considered a virtue, and the world is made up of what she considered as creators and parasites.

In other words most of you are considered as parasites unless you happen to be in the 1 percent, but here is the real kicker for all of the true conservative Christians.

Objectivism, also considers people of religious faith as FOOLS, and are incapable of reason. They lack the ability to reason for themselves, in a sane manner!

Now, just stop and think, if they only think of you as FOOLS. Then that means that they don’t think mush of you period, and so, how could they honestly have your best interests at heart? In other words you are being used solely as pawns just to further their goals, and they really could care less about what happens to you in the long term.

Your Party has purposely destroyed our economy, and just to put themselves in the position to say, look, we warned all of you that Ayn Rand Novel Atlas Shrugged would come to pass, and low and behold it has, but in truth, only because of their intentional fiscal irresponsibilities of the past four decades!

They want a two-class society in this country and will stop at nothing to make that a reality! The Creators and the Parasites!

So, we can only hope that all of you true conservative Christian’s will finally wake-up before it’s too late, so as we all don’t become slaves to the 1percenter’s!

Objectivism, also considers people of religious faith as FOOLS, and are incapable of reason.

This line may not be the best defense testimony...many people would agree with her observations on this item only because of the riot-level circumstances surrounding non-denominational, and some protestant identifiers in conjunction with extremism in the middle-east during the last presidential campaign. People seem to be more rational this time.

More than 90% of the populace is working...many Republican-led states are foundering, in some case the GPD is exclusively top-heavy weighted with Federal Assistance in form or another. Much circumstantial evidence exists shown that the GOP-inept management skills and absolute impotent performance in the House is the contributing factor.

The people whom were "ripped off" aren't the bad guys. Too many rhetoric and profane comments coming from the GOP adherent camp are just tired and canned.

Obama doesn't stand a chance against Mr. Romney. He certainly can't stand on his record. All he can do is as usual, lie, lie and lie more.

Obama has only proven his incompetence. We need a leader that will be able to put our country back on track and it certainly isn't Obama.

Mr. Romney has all the qualities that Obama lacks, intelligence, integrity, business sense, honesty and personal appearance. The Dems. resent the fact that Mr. Romney is rich but so is Obama, now. The difference is that M. Romney came by his wealth honestly and Obama gained his wealth through scheming and rerouting funds into his own pockets.

He is a liar, cheater and a scammer. A communist and want to be dictator.

My question to the President is this. Since Obama-Care goes into effect soon will you and your family plus the Senate and House be on this new health care system, and if not why?

If Romney can not run his campaign with out occurring an $11 Million dollar debt, what would he possibly do if in charge of our economy? Is this not a sign of what we can expect from him? Where is his ability to balance a budgit?

I really hope the Big O tries to do what that fool Biden did in his debate. How anyone watching the VP debate could have come away with a positive view of Biden is beyond me. He was totally unproffessional, condescending and just plain foolish.

Does anyone wonder why this administration can't reach across the aisle? It's my way or the highway and your opinion means nothing to me....WOW! Great Attitude Dude!

          Tear him up Mitt !

I want to know where Romney really stands on "out-sourcing" and illegal immigration.

Seems in previous elections that both parties were always able to distract and polarize voters with insignificant peripheral issues, which ended up getting most of the voters so caught up in the BS that they lost sight of the bigger picture.

Now that that abortion and gay marriage are not legitimate distractions, they're going with gas prices and Social Security.

If they (Both Parties) don’t start addressing the real problems in our country like “out-sourcing”, illegal immigration and the out of control costs of health care insurance, by the next election – American citizens may just have to run a nation-wide campaign to vote every single incumbent out of office, so that maybe they’ll finally get the message.

Wouldn't it be More Productive if Our Elected Leaders Started Working Together as AMERICANS for AMERICANS and AMERICA, instead of just bickering, stalling and posturing for the next election as democrats and republicans! The American People have had it with this unproductive BS! The sad thing is that both parties stink! Neither party is really looking out for the best interest of the US citizens who elect them and who they're supposed to represent.

Perot said it back in 1992 "Jobs getting sucked out of the country" – Many people saw it back then, but unfortunately too many people bought into the spin of "BS" that we were being sold.

It's appears that the foreign interests are influencing our media as well, just watch the ABC Nightline special on Apple's iPhone and iPad products being made in China that ends with the dramatic biased comment "That you can be the nation that lines up to make these products or the nation the lines up to buy them, but it's impossible to be both". What BS propaganda! ABC has direct ties to Apple and Foxconn.

It also doesn't help us compete when these companies are subsidized by their communist government.

And this something that most of us already knew at that time, because it was just common sense!

I don't care what the Romney campaign tries, they will never beat the amount of money president Obama raises when he hosts entertainment celebrities.

It is interesting to me that all of you Obama supporters seem to be nasty, smart talking, jerks just like O and Smiling Joe. You guys need a class on proffessionalism....doesn't appear that you have much. Kind of sad that you have to be so bitter and confrontational to make your lives seem better to you...must be a tough depressing way to go through life.

Stop the Madness - get The Big O and Smiling Joe the hell out!
