Clinton needles Ryan the day after the VP debate

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- After Thursday night's vice presidential debate, former President Bill Clinton said he now sympathizes with Paul Ryan, the man he said had the "brass" to criticize President Barack Obama's Medicare savings in health care reform.

Stumping here for the Indiana Democratic party on Friday, Clinton said Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan "let the cat out of the bag" when he squared off against Joe Biden in Kentucky last night.

"You know, I kind of sympathize with Congressman Ryan, he has to defend now Gov. Romney's position that the $716 billion in Medicare savings in the president's budget -- that the congressman voted for -- is somehow a ripoff even though it was in his budget too."

Fact checkers have debunked GOP claims that Obama cut $716 billion from Medicare, and on the stump Clinton has vigorously attempted to defend Democrats record on the hot button issue, most notable at the Democratic National Convention, when he satirically quipped that Ryan had "brass" for critiquing cuts so similar to ones proposed in the budget he authored.

Romney campaign spokesperson Amanda Henneberg countered that "[Obama] has done nothing to reform Medicare for the long haul and prevent it from going bankrupt. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have a plan that protects Medicare for current seniors and preserves and strengthens it for future retirees."

But it was more than just Ryan's stance on Medicare that stood to Clinton during last night's debate.  He used his stop in Indiana, where the auto industry plays an important role, to take a jab at Ryan's answer to a debate question about Romney's opposition to the auto bailout.

"When Mr. Ryan said last night that Gov. Romney was a car guy, I thought 'Well if having an elevator to stack them counts, I guess he was,' Clinton said. "Let me tell you something about this car thing, it was not a bailout, it was a restructuring that we as taxpayers participated in because the banks were unwilling to save the automobile companies."

DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz discusses Vice President Biden's performance at Thursday night's vice presidential debate, and how the base and swing voters may respond.

The high profile Democratic surrogate was here for the "Hoosier Common Sense" rally for Indiana Democratic senate candidate Joe Donnelly and gubernatorial candidate John Gregg. Both races have garnered plenty of national attention and give the Hoosier State a rare chance to elect both a Democratic senator and governor in the same year.

Clinton, who stressed the need for bipartisanship in Washington, sought to paint Donnelly's opponent, Republican Richard Mourdock, as an extremist unwilling to work across the aisle.  It's a position Mourdock himself has seemed to at times endorse, like in May when he told NBC's Chuck Todd that "bipartisanship ought to consist of Democrats coming to the Republican point of view." The Republican senate candidate unseated 36-year incumbent Sen. Richard Lugar in a primary where one of his main attack lines dealt was Lugar's history of bipartisanship.

Related: Ryan wades deep into lengthy Afghanistan argument

"I was raised to believe that nobody's right all the time. Now, maybe Mr. Mourdock is, I don't know. He's way right all the time, I know that," Clinton said to loud applause at North Central High School.

Clinton painted Rep. Mike Pence, campaigning against Gregg for governor, as an equally partisan politician largely void of a record of accomplishment. "It would be like a cold shower for Congressman Pence if he were to become governor, because in the statehouse, you don't have an option of arithmetic rules. And you can't not pass bills. you can't get re-elected like you can to Congress, apparently you can get re-elected for a dozen years and never pass a bill," said Clinton.

Also joining Clinton on stage in the Hoosier State was was former Sen. Even Bayh. Clinton told the crowd that all four men were more fiscally conservative than both Romney and Ryan "because, as I said in Charlotte, we believe in arithmetic."

Bloomberg Businessweek's Josh Green, the Washington Post's Ruth Marcus, Time's Michael Crowley, and the Washington Post's Karen Tumulty discuss the next steps on the campaign trail for President Obama and Mitt Romney ahead of the next presidential debate.

The former president has had a packed schedule campaigning both for Obama and Democratic congressional candidates around the country. From Indiana, Clinton headed to Iowa to help raise funds for Democrats in the Hawkeye State.

"I didn't expect to be quite so involved in this campaign. I have now a daughter who's working for  television network and a wife who's got one of only two jobs in the government, the other being secretary of defense, that are prohibited from participating in electoral politics, so you're stuck with me," Clinton said.

I predicted yesterday that the Feisty one would win - and the Feisty Biden won..

.

GOP's strategy was showcased again - just lie and lie more, when lies repeated many times over.. lies would become truth.

.

for example, the $716 billion is a cut of government handouts to major corporations such as hospitals, not a cut on senior health benefits. Even the Ryan budget counted this as a saving, but he just kept lying about this as a cut to medicare. The truth of the matter is when Bush pushed through the largest expansion of medicare in 2003, the law allowed billions of dollars of giveaways to pharmaceuticals - increasing the deficit, making Medicare less competitive more costly.

.

Recent economic data are good -

last week - the lowest unemployment rate in 4 years...

yesterday, lowest unemployment claims in 5 years.

Yesterday lowest forcloures

Romney already stated that he would NOT be using Ryans medicare plan, he would be using his own. That said, the left keeps going at Ryan for his plan.

BTW, Obama's plan had turned just about every doctor into a republican, they will not be accepting the cuts imposed under the Obama plan, there are multiple stories in the local newspaper about it... good luck with that Obama!

sirie - wait for the new polls next week and the ones after the 2nd Presidential debate.

Pigotry - foreclosures have really hit their limit. We're seeing the housing market recover - slowly but it is recovering. New home sales and prices are up. Rates are still low so it is encouraging those who have been sitting on the sidelines to buy. Refinances are at all time highs. The housing market is recovering and that's necessary for the economy to recover.

tHANKS, Feisty Red... there is a long way to go to achieve the progressive agenda of America.

.

I sincerely hope that President O would take his gloves off in his second term and show the truth color of a progressive Democratic President to push for fundamental justice in a country that still falls behind in many areas where the rest of the cilvilized world is way ahead of us - such as gender equality, racial justice, and equal opportunity for all.

.

The United States has been dead last in moving up the social-economic ladder - because the rich always get away with things and they destroy the economy with less or little regulation.

.

The bankers don't even know what is best for themselves.

.

Government should guarantee a level-playing field for all, to boost the middle class which has been falling behind due to the assault by years of Republican policies (20 of last 32 years - Reagan 8 Bush sr. 4, and Bush Jr. 8).

In honor of the campaign winding down soon, here's a moving video of President Clinton, along with 40 Jewish children and 40 Arabic children, singing

John Lennon's Imagine.

We've been with Barack Obama since '06. This is our last campaign together. This is the last time we can volunteer for him, this is the last time we can do anything for him.

Let's do it. Imagine what we can do together if he gets re-elected.

Here's the video. It's FANTASTIC.

From the Daily Beast:

The oddest aspect of his patronizing performance involved the complete disconnect between his derisive laughter and anything that Paul Ryan actually said. Where, exactly, did the GOP nominee make some point so ridiculous, or express himself so clumsily, that the only appropriate response would be the uncontrollable urge to titter or chortle?

If the purpose was to rattle Ryan it clearly didn’t work: the GOP contender remained calm (perhaps too calm), smooth, polite, and self-possessed while the vice president of the United States rudely interrupted him more than two dozen times.

The debate became queasy, unpleasant, uncomfortable to watch, not because Biden overpowered his opponent on substance (he emphatically did not), but because the normal, reassuring, ritualized sense of congeniality and decorum seemed altogether lacking. When TV professionals analyze the viewing audience in detail, I’d be surprised if a huge number of debate watchers didn’t tune out the broadcast in disgust or at least uneasiness after the first half hour.

If you vote your own economic interest...even Republicans should vote for Obama the Democrat. Because Democratic policies have traditionally boosted economy, such as Clinton in the 1990s - the first thing he did was raising taxes a little bit (3% for the top bracket), but the Bond Market responded and the stock kept rising from 3200 IN 1993 to about 11,000 IN 2001 (Dow Average), creating all the snobbish new Rich brats who just voted Republican and then destroyed the entire world economy in 2008.

Reality is more and more groups are analyzing the facts and Romney's math doesn't add up.

Internally, Republican groups are now saying the Romney/Ryan tax plan will explode the deficit.

On top of that, Romney's military spending of 4% GDP adds another $2 trillion to the deficit.

Bin Laden was not considered a terrorist 13 years ago. He was considered a financier of Al Qaeda. Clinton had no basis for going after Bin Laden like Bush did.

Now if you want to point fingers, point them at Reagan whose administration sent billions in support to Afghanistan and Bin Laden.

If you want to point fingers point them at GWB who after recieving more than 40+ intel memos about what Al Qaeda was doing, he decided that clearing brush at his TX ranch was more important.

Romney's medicare plan relies on voucher-like credits that can be used to purchase Medicare or other private plans. Obama correctly pointed out that Romney's plan would encourage private companies to cherry pick healthier Medicare recipients with lower rates while letting unhealthier Medicare folks on Medicare. This would drive up the average cost of Medicare per patient.

Private insurance companies take a profit. Medicare does not. Romney's plan will not work. It will be a disaster for Medicare system.

Bin Laden was responsible for the bombing of the U. S. S. Cole that killed our servicemen in Yemen

USS Cole happened in October of 2000. 3 Months later, GWB was sworn in as president. Bush had 8 years to get Bin Laden and all he managed to do is say: "I don't spend too much time thinking about him."

Before the UUS Cole, American officials regarded Osama bin Laden as a financier of terrorism and not as a mastermind largely because, at the time, there was no real evidence that bin Laden had harmed American citizens.

So I will give you this. Clinton did not get Bin Laden in the 3 months he had left in office but Bush failed to do the same in EIGHT F*CKIN YEARS and especially after 9/11!

I have this big fat ENGLISH dictionary and no where in it is the word prolly. There is trolly which is a street car and dolly which is a childs play thing looking like a person. There is Polly which is often the name given to a parrot in pirat movies and literature. Of course there is Molly a girl's name and Polly too but not prolly. Could you have misspelled something. Perhaps you mean probably but was too lazy to write out the whole word. It is, after all, a long word. I would say it is a fifty cent word in your limited vocabulary and so you try and use a ten cent word instead. It is okay to use ten cent words as not everyone understands the big words but make sure they are REAL words.

bill clinton has the gall to spout off..

this man was impeached for getting a bj from monica in the oval office..

and lied about it..

hey, Mr. Recent Rereg, while Clinton lied about a BJ, Romney has lied about everything but a BJ. while Clinton lied about a BJ, GW Bush had lied (and continues to lie) about WMD and Al Qaeda in Iraq to start a war in Iraq which resulted in thousands of American deaths.

So I will take Clinton lying about a BJ any day over Bush lying to start a war that cost lives and trillions of dollars.

President Clinton has earned the right to talk about problems facing America. He is the only US President since Eisenhower to produce even one balanced budget and he succeeded in getting 4 straight balanced budgets.

His 1993 tax increase on the rich and expansion of the earned income tax credit was described by Republicans as disastrous for the economy, yet it produced 4% growth rate and four balanced budgets.

Go Bill Go. Speak out loudly and often.

Romney had a commercial claiming Clinton... Clinton was anti-Obama in 2008 - who cares? Neither Bill Clinton nor George W. Bush are a candidate in the 2012 elections.

Obama has a record to run on - he may not like the record, it might not reflect everything he wanted it to but it is his record. What he has or has not accomplished during his term is on his shoulders. It's not GW Bush's fault, it's not the Republicans fault, it's not the fault of 2 wars (of which he, Obama voted to support funding for, at least 6 times). Am I better off today than I was 4 years ago, NO. Is my mom (75 yrs old) better off now, CERTAINLY NOT. With all the "student aid" is my youngest son better off than 4 years ago, NO. He still can't go to collage because his dad and I make too much money - This would be funny if it wasn't so sad! (We are and I quote - middle class poor).

Four years ago, the people voted for and elected "Hope and Change", today we are supposed to vote and elect "Forward". Where I live in California unemployment is high, underemployment is still the norm, part time work is what is offered, foreclosure on housing is still grinding through the paper mills, vacant buildings where businesses used to be and gas prices hovering around $5/gallon. If this is what Hope and Change is then I'm pretty certain I don't want 4 years of Forward.

I am tired of attack campaigns (this includes both parties and their followers) It is past time to talk issues, create ideas and heal this Nation. If those posting here, the candidates and their parties spent even half the time they do ripping into the other side with the sly innuendos, name calling, critiquing and bless them "fact checking", and used it to deal with the issues maybe those voting would have a real idea what we are voting for. As it is, what I have learned is there are republicons and republicants, republiturds there are neocons, teabaggers and anything but republicans. I've learned there are libbies, libercons, liberturds (or however you spelt them) democRATS and a whole list of intellectual underachievers. I have now been enlightened as to Mormanism and "magical underwear" because someone seems to think this is relevant. I have been introduced to Myth, Mittens and Slick Wille, Flip-Flop,Flipper, Robme Lyin' Ryan and a host of other names. Our sitting President is Oblahblah, Odumbo, and I am sure various other titles. Each side makes huge issues with that ever faithful "liar, liar mantra that means whatever the original issue was is lost in the negativity.

Democrats on here keep talking that Romney is only there for the rich, the corporation and will hurt the middle class while Obama is for the middle class. Republicans say Obama is not for the middle class or Americans in general. Romney is a liar, tax cheat and various other nefarious things - (Show us your tax returns!) This is as pathetic as the birth certificate issue. Obama is a Muslim, socialist, communist whatever. For every "fact checked proof" there are at least the same amount of information to the contrary.

Sad fact is politicians lie ALL OF THEM! Democrat and Republican, Obama and Romney, Biden and Ryan. If you take the exact same information the "left" will use the parts that make the right look bad while that same slant makes the left look good. The "right" will slant it so they look good while the left takes the hits. If the majority are republican during a democratic administration they can and will make life tough for all and if there is a democratic majority during a republican administration, the democrats will do the same.

    Breaking news on Bloomberg...

"Repealing Deductions Pays for 4% Tax Cuts, Study Says"

Repealing all itemized deductions in the U.S. tax code would pay for only a 4 percent cut in income tax rates, according to the official nonpartisan scorekeeper for Congress. The study casts doubt on Republicans’ ability to deliver on the promise of financing lower income-tax rates with base broadening.

The analysis by the Joint Committee on Taxation shows the arithmetical difficulty of an approach that assumes long-favored tax breaks such as the deductions for mortgage interest and charitable contributions could be repealed instantly and completely. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney proposes a 20 percent income-tax cut and says he would pay for it by limiting tax deductions, credits and exemptions.

The estimate also assumes that the George W. Bush-era tax cuts are allowed to expire Dec. 31, that the alternative minimum tax is repealed and that capital gains and dividends are taxed as ordinary income.

The estimates are in an Oct. 11 letter from the Joint Committee on Taxation to Senators Max Baucus of Montana and Orrin Hatch of Utah, the Democratic chairman and top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee. The letter was obtained byBloomberg News.

Thomas Barthold, chief of staff for the Joint Committee on Taxation, described the estimate as an “experiment” that his staff conducted and said it doesn’t represent all of the possible broadening of the tax base.

    Unaffected Breaks

Under this approach, many tax breaks wouldn’t be affected, including the exclusion of employer-sponsored health insurance, the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit.

“There are a significant number of other identified individual income tax expenditures or other possible base- broadening policies that I did not include in this experiment,” Barthold wrote.

The report also includes a set of tables that estimate how the combination of tax-policy changes, including taxing capital gains as ordinary income rather than at preferential rates, would affect taxpayers in different income levels.

In 2015, taxpayers making between $75,000 and $100,000 a year would see their federal taxes reduced by 0.8 percent. Taxpayers making more than $1 million would pay 5.7 percent more than they would otherwise.

In the primary season, Richie Rich bragged about how he was a "severe" conservative. Now he is trying to present himself as a moderate. Which is it? Either he was lying during the primaries, or he is lying now. Which one? Lying then or lying now? One way or another, ol' Richie is a liar.

First, he crows about a $5 triliion cut in taxes and then he claims he never heard of any such thing.

First, he says he's pro-choice and then he claims he's pro-life and always has been.

He has flipped and flopped on so many issues, I don't think he even KNOWS where he stands on any issue at any given time. Pinning him down on anything is like nailing jello to a tree. He claims we should know what his principles are. Well, that's easy. There aren't any. He has no principles.

Anyone who has contempt for 47% of the country isn't fit to be elected to any position other than Village Idiot. He certainly isn't fit to be President of the United States.

He and Eddie Munster would raise taxes on everyone making LESS than $1,000,000. Millionaires and billionaires are the only folks they care about.

Eddie claims that 30% of us are "takers". Does he include himself? He was sure quick to get some of that stimulus money he decries. He had both hands out.

His budget came right out of the Ayn Rand handbook. He was brought to task for it by the Council of Catholic Bishops, and told his budget was way out of line with Catholic social justice teaching. That is quite a comeuppance for someone who claims to be a devout Catholic. He must have missed YEARS of Catechism classes.

He claims to be such a fiscal hawk. He voted for two unnecessary wars and the Bush tax cuts. He even voted for the stimulus he decries while trying to grab as much stimulus money as he could. How fiscally conservative is that?

Richie Rich's and Eddie Munster's pictures are both in the dictionary--right after the words "liar" and "hypocrite".

trapp - just because I know you're totally ignorant the following is from FactCheck - Obama’s college records are not “sealed” by a court order, as this graphic would have you believe. It would be illegal under federal law (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) for Occidental, Columbia or Harvard Law School to give any former student’s records to reporters or members of the public without that person’s specific, written permission. Obama hasn’t released them, but neither have other presidential candidates released their college records. George W. Bush’s grades at Yale eventually became public, but only because somebody leaked them to the New Yorker magazine. Bush himself refused to release them, according to a 1999 profile in the Washington Post.

I could understand if you used the handle "Rush Limbaugh" or "Sean Hannity" but even Snooki is a genius compared to those who keep up those lies. I guess you agree with this quote:

      Nazi propaganda
chief Joseph Goebbels was the master of the “big
lie” tactic in which a lie, no matter how outrageous, is repeated often enough
that it will eventually be accepted as truth. Goebbels explained:

“If you tell a lie big
enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The
lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people
from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus
becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress
dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension,
the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

If so, it would make perfectly good sense.

OK, jersy and others of like "mind"--here it is:

Sit up straight. Pay attention. I'm going to say this only once.

President Obama was born in Hawaii. Hawaii has been a state for a LONG time. He produced his long-form certified birth certificate. It was genuine, as attested to by the state of Hawaii.

President Obama's college records were not sealed by court order. Such an event never took place. Whoever told you that lied. If you were so gullible you believed it, well, shame on you. ALL college records are confidential. Noone has to spend a penny to seal their records. Whoever told you the President spent money to have his records sealed lied. If you were so gullible you believed it, shame on you. College records for EVERYONE are confidential and it doesn't cost a dime. They just are.

Now go back to what you were doing, because I think I just saw the Abominable Snowman in your neighborhood. He was holding a copy of the "lost" Warren Commission report and was heading to the site where the moon landing was filmed. Elvis was with him. If you hurry, you may be able to catch up to them.

I am really confused, looking back to the last administration and your opinion of the Presidential resposibilities ... President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton should step down or be impeached. The President was then responsible for incidents like the one in Lybia and would have been personally responsible for the deaths of our Ambassitor and those who died with them. I understand your need to play ignorant or spin the obvious truth to protect your candidate from arm. You apparently will do anything to protect this President but with another party you would surely have tried to destroy his entire life. This time however, we are talking about the death of Americans and the security of others who still serve "in harms way". Your two faced view is dangerous to this country.

Not only did he ignore the warnings, he refused to alert the airlines or the Amerian people. I'm pretty much with you that Bush should have been impeached. So Rance C. White, using your line of reasoning, why weren't Bush and Cheney impeached for the deaths on 9/11? I find your comment offensive as an American, not a democrat or a republican. My question is as irrational as the comment you made. While the Bush administration dismissed the intelligence reports as not specific, I do not believe their failures were intentional. None of our elected officials should be held responsible for the deaths of people by acts of terrorism whether the result of protests or the result protests masking the terrorist attack. All any administration can do is to investigate and look at how we, as a country, can prevent more in the future. Looking for someone to blame is ignorant.

That said, Bush and Cheney should have been investigated for using 9/11 as an excuse to trump up another war in Iraq.

Rance C. White: The country is L-i-b-y-a. The word is r-e-s-p-o-n-s-i-b-i-l-i-t-i-e-s. It is A-m-b-a-s-s-a-d-o-r. Please learn the difference between "you're" and "your". One is the contraction of "you are" and the other is possessive. See if you can figure out which is which. "In harm's way" should not have quotation marks. Those who serve this country in war ARE in harm's way, you dolt.

By your logic, Dubya and Dick should have been impeached for 9/11. They received warnings about Al-Quaeda and didn't fully act on those warnings. I do not recall anyone responsible making any such suggestion.

Th facts of the Libyan attacks are still being sorted out. It will most likely be a while before the entire story is known. A rational approach would be to wait until ALL the facts are in before making any judgments. So there's something new for you to try: rationality!

You really shouldn't get ALL your exercise jumping to conclusions.

That is NOT true at all. Such organizations as Catholic Charities and Lutheran Family Services, as well as simlar organizations of other denominations or religions, don't care and don't ask what the religion or politics of those needing help may be. They are following Jesus' teachings to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, etc.

Anyone who would be as narrow-minded as you suggest is not behaving according to the teachings of their faith in the least.

I think you are projecting YOUR attitude on them.

I find it funny that when Romney interupted the president and the moderator he was "Presidential and in charge". When Biden did it, it was "Rude and Imature" it's almost comical to watch the GOP pundits double standards. The polls go for Obama and their biased, they go for Romney and their all of a sudden accurate. I'll probably end up voting for Obama just because of the double standards and the fact that the Right wing Pundits allow him to lie through his teeth consistently and never even mention it. I was going to vote for Gary Johnson but the sheer stupidity and lack of morals of the Romney/Ryan ticket make me want to vote Obama out of sheer disgust of them.

Romney was rude and condecending and lied the whole presidential debate... Biden laughed at Ryans lies and while it might be considered rude i personally think Ryan trying to lie his way through the debate to be deplorable and deserving of scorn. Romney/Ryan are trying to sell the same trickle down deregulation lie that started with Reagan and ultimatly crashed our economy. Anyone with half a brain knows corprate profits over the last 10 years have been at RECORD highs. So by the trickle down economic standard we should be seeing an unprecidented economic boom. We are not, so by basic deductive reasoning the Romney/Ryan economic plan will most definatly DESTROY our economy and they know it. They are selling the same austerity pill that is destroying europe right now and i for one am not gonna swallow it because i don't particularly care for president Obama.

I believe the reason VP Biden was laughing is that he couldn't believe how easily Paul Ryan would lie like he did. Biden took the kid to the woodshed and have him a good whoopin' and called him on those "misstatements". It reminds me of Reagan against Carter when the former would smirk, and make comments like "there you go again" on what he thought the latter was saying that was inaccurate. So it is nothing new and much ado is being made of nothing.

Romney lied outright all night long and wore that smug, self-righteous smirk all night long, and somehow that's all right. According to the RWNJ's, Romney's entitled.

The polls show President Obama leading and the RWNJ's claim the numbers are skewed. When Romney surges in the polls, all of a sudden, the numbers are accurate. Can you spell 'hypocrisy'?

The jobs report comes out two days later, and shows a drop in employment. Instead of being happy for the country, the RWNJ's claim that the numbers are falsified. They're out there looking for a conspiracy, instead of being happy at the good news. The RWNK's claim to have a lock on patriotism. Some patriots they are! They only care about their closed-minded ideology. They don't care about the country or the American people at all.

Joe Biden has the unmitigated gall, in their opinion, to laugh at Ryan's laughable whoppers, and Biden, in the opinion of the RWNJ's,is rude. Ryan deserved to be called to task for his inability to tell the truth. The RWNJ's just don't want to admit it.

          Is Romney a sociopath?

          1. Ryan claimed that President Obama
"took" $716 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare and that he and
Romney will "protect" Medicare. But Obama did not "take"
any funds from Medicare. He achieved savings in the program by lowering future
reimbursement rates to medical providers, like doctors and hospitals. People on
Medicare today and in the future will not be affected by the cuts. Ryan also
failed to acknowledge that his own budget plan envisions a similar $700 billion
savings from Medicare. He also proposes to privatize Medicare and replace it
with a voucher system in which seniors will have to use vouchers to buy private
          health insurance.

          2. Ryan again criticized the Obama stimulus package, but didn't acknowledge
that he lobbied the Obama administration for stimulus funds for his own
          Congressional district.

          3. Romney criticized Obama for government bailouts, but didn't acknowledge that
one of his companies, Bain Capital, would have collapsed were it not for a $10
          million federal bailout.

          4. Ryan blamed Obama for the closure of a GM plant in Ryan's district in
Wisconsin, but Ryan knows that the plant closed during the Bush administration.
Ryan also criticized Obama for the auto bailout without acknowledging that he
also voted for the auto bailout. Ryan also didn't acknowledge that the auto
bailout saved the US auto industry, and that Romney had proposed allowing the
          industry to go bankrupt.

          5. Ryan blamed the credit downgrade of the US government on Obama, when S&P
stated it was in part because the federal government had not raised taxes — tax
increases that Ryan and his fellow GOP representatives have steadfastly refused
          to vote for.

          6. Ryan criticized Obama for not embracing the recommendations of the
bipartisan Simpson-Bowles debt commission. Ryan, however, did not acknowledge
that he was a member of that commission and voted against its recommendations.

          7. Ryan criticized Obama for not balancing the federal budget, but did not
acknowledge that his own budget plan doesn't envision a balanced budget for at
          least twenty years.

          8. Romney and Ryan repeated the lie that Obama said in a speech that small
business owners did not "build" their own businesses. Obama said that
business owners throughout the country are helped by the fact that government
builds roads that the businesses and their employees use and operates schools
          that educate future workers.

          9. Romney and Ryan criticized Obama for the failure of some small businesses
during his administration, effectively saying that it's okay to blame the
government if a business fails, but it's not okay for the government to take
          some credit when it succeeds.

          10. Romney and Ryan blamed Obama for not accomplishing more during his first
term, but failed to acknowledge that Republicans in Congress attempted to block
or actually blocked nearly all of Obama's initiatives.

          11. Romney said that Obama embarked on an "apology tour" around the
world immediately after taking office, but Obama never once apologized for
          America's behavior to anyone.

          12. Romney claimed that Obama raised taxes on the middle class, but Obama has
raised no taxes during his administration.

          13. Romney claimed that when he ran Bain Capital, it "helped"
companies save jobs, when, in fact, Bain Capital's typical business practice
was to saddle companies it took over with huge amounts of debt and outrageous
"management fees," thereby forcing the companies to lay off thousands
          of workers.

          14. In a TV-ad barrage, Romney and Ryan say Obama eliminated the work
requirements in welfare. The president did not; he allowed states to relax the
requirements, but only if they could show that more welfare recipients in their
          states were actually getting jobs.

I am adding my thoughts to your topics.

          Adler-273784

          Is Romney a sociopath? No.

Obama took the 716 billion out of the medicare trust fund money, stating thatthey were going to reduce payments to the Hospitials, and insurance companies running medicare. Does he think cutting that money will not also cut services? Go to your auto insurer and tell them you are going to cut your payment to them by 30% and see if your coverage is not reduced. The other problem is more and more people are entering medicare because they are of retirement age. So more people using the services, and less money to pay for those services. (I guess the death panel will have to start killing people to make ends meet).

          2. Ryan again criticized the Obama stimulus package, but didn't acknowledge
that he lobbied the Obama administration for stimulus funds for his own
          Congressional district.

While I don't agree with the Stimulus Package, the money came from the states and should have never been taken from them. So Wisconsin did deserve to get some of that money back.

          3. Romney criticized Obama for government bailouts, but didn't acknowledge that
one of his companies, Bain Capital, would have collapsed were it not for a $10
          million federal bailout.

I know because of government contracts, that the Government paid Bain to get the companies back into solventcy. It was not for Bain, in it self, but the companies being rescued.

The Wisconsin GM plant closed because of poor business actions by GM, a lot of them from the Reid/Pelosi Congress passing stupid billes that helped shut down the economy. If you remember Ford Motor Company didn't take any money, it was only GM and Chrysler. Obama sold Chrysler to Fiat, and bought GM shares of stock at $53 to help save the union workers (GM stock is currently at $24) so the tax payers have lost on that deal too (too bad Chrysler is doing very will under Fiat). If GM and Chrysler would have gone through bankruptsy, they would have come out leaner and meaner, and propably would be better companies today, as most companies that go through bankruptsy do.

          5. Ryan blamed the credit downgrade of the US government on Obama, when S&P
stated it was in part because the federal government had not raised taxes — tax
increases that Ryan and his fellow GOP representatives have steadfastly refused
          to vote for.

S&P downgraded and plan to do so again, because or National Debt is continueing to increase, with no reverse in sight. Spending is the problem not taxing, For most of our history, the US did not spend more then it took in. But the last 4 years Spending has doubled, that is the Problem, and that is why we go downgraded, and will again in a few months. The House should have not increased the spending limits. Then we would have faired better.

          6. Ryan criticized Obama for not embracing the recommendations of the
bipartisan Simpson-Bowles debt commission. Ryan, however, did not acknowledge
that he was a member of that commission and voted against its recommendations.

The commission did not go far enough. It did have some good ideas, none of which Obama listened to or did. The Democrats wanted it to raise taxes, the Republican wanted to cut spending. The Republicans were right, as every family knows, you have to live with the money comming in, you cut spending, you can't simply tell you boss, I am spending $20K more this year then I make, so I want a pay increase of $20K.

          7. Ryan criticized Obama for not balancing the federal budget, but did not
acknowledge that his own budget plan doesn't envision a balanced budget for at
          least twenty years.

It is funny how Obama can spend 1.3 trillion dollars more then the government takes in, in a year, but says it would take 10 years to pay it back. The problem is the Social Security and Medicare will soon cost more then there is money to pay for them. Even AARP says soon there will be 1 person receiving an average of $1300 a month just in SS payments a month, and one person working paying those, not to mention also paying for their future payments. So that person will have to make $2600 in payments a month (more then a lot of people make a month) then make additional to pay their housing, food an other expenses. Sounds like Minimum Wages will have to go up to $38 to pay for it.

          8. Romney and Ryan repeated the lie that Obama said in a speech that small
business owners did not "build" their own businesses. Obama said that
business owners throughout the country are helped by the fact that government
builds roads that the businesses and their employees use and operates schools
          that educate future workers.

The fact is business owners spend long hours and days trying to make thier businesses work, and be successful. The Government didn't build the schools, and the roads, IT was the US Tax Payer that built the Roads through Our Taxes on gas, Homes, and many other fees we pay for, The Government can not do anyting unless they take the money from people to pay for these things. That is the differance between Consertives, and Liberials, Consertives know the Taxpayer pays for all those things that we all use everyday, Liberials think the Government pays for it all.

          9. Romney and Ryan criticized Obama for the failure of some small businesses
during his administration, effectively saying that it's okay to blame the
government if a business fails, but it's not okay for the government to take
          some credit when it succeeds.

That is because Government puts up all kinds of road blocks for business to have to work around. Permits, regulations, are for the most part hinderences to small business, regulating the live out of them. While some are nessiesary, they probably could do away with 80% of them. When was the last time you saw a government official come into a small business and help the owner? That is why Ryan and Romney are right.

          10. Romney and Ryan blamed Obama for not accomplishing more during his first
term, but failed to acknowledge that Republicans in Congress attempted to block
or actually blocked nearly all of Obama's initiatives.

Obama had a veto proof Congress his first 2 years. He passed Obamacare that 67% of the people were against, he passed stimulus packages that provided Shovel ready jobs, that didn't exsist. He passed Frank/Dodd, that the big banks wrote, forcing smaller banks out of exsistance, and make big banks too big to fail, It was susposed to help the consumer, but did you notice that bank card rates went up to 30% how has that helped the middle wage people? The bills he passed were terrible, and what did he do with the rest of the time, Immagration reform, raising taxes on the rich, closeing gitmo, and all the other prmises he made. He didn't do any of them. 2 years later the voters didn't like what he did and voted in a Republican House to stop him.

          11. Romney said that Obama embarked on an "apology tour" around the
world immediately after taking office, but Obama never once apologized for
          America's behavior to anyone.

How about the Berlin Speach, at the Brandenburg Gate.

          12. Romney claimed that Obama raised taxes on the middle class, but Obama has
raised no taxes during his administration.

That is his play on words, Obamacare has 16 of 22 new taxes that the middle class will pay. Not to menion the Bush tax cuts due to expire on Jan 1st, that will raise taxes on the middle class. He passed the bills so that the taxes come into effect after the election. That way he would be in office and not have to worry about that pleg, like most of the other ones he made and hasn't kept.

          13. Romney claimed that when he ran Bain Capital, it "helped"
companies save jobs, when, in fact, Bain Capital's typical business practice
was to saddle companies it took over with huge amounts of debt and outrageous
"management fees," thereby forcing the companies to lay off thousands
          of workers.

Companys have to be in trouble or Bain could not buy them. Most companies have more employees then are really needed, at all levels. Bain object is to buy troubled companies, and make them more profitible, by doing that they can sell them to others thus making a profit. Not all companies can be rescued, so they are broken up and sold to try to recoupe their orginal cost. But to say in business Bain has to be successful most of the time. All the companies and workers would have been out of jobs without them. There are thousands of workers that have jobs today because of Bain.

          14. In a TV-ad barrage, Romney and Ryan say Obama eliminated the work
requirements in welfare. The president did not; he allowed states to relax the
requirements, but only if they could show that more welfare recipients in their
          states were actually getting jobs.

In relaxing the work requirement out of the welfare requriements he eleminated it. How is not requireing work make more jobs, except for the government social workers, who will have more nonworker to work for?

Supposed neutral media sources are seemingly poised for the GOP. What happened to fact checking? Biden did a great job of fact checking on the fly. With this election, I find that there have been far more contradictions from news media sources. While I have never been a conspiracy theorist, I am for the first time wondering what financial power-house may be at the source of President Obama's silence during the first debate? He wasn't being polite - someone/something had him silenced. It was FAR TOO OUT OF CHARACTER. So I guess we'll see as things move forward. Biden won by far last night and Bless his heart for chuckling when he should have and for interrupting when Ryan, like his running mate was not stating truth or facts and working hard not to answer questions but instead brainwash style response so the people will vote and then pay the price later - that is malarkey that they will "work with congress" to pay for their tax cuts. This country is already broke - it is Hey Romney/Ryan ticket you are all smoke and mirrors - really what you have hiding behind those 10 years of tax returns. I don't like people that want that level of control - you want money/power and control - Ain't buyin' it folks..

Willard Romney is attempting to deflect our attentions from his off-shore tax avoiding schemes. If America caught up with his tax blockers & hide outs, he would be jeered out of the political arena overnight. Romney is a Wall Street globalist, a man with no country, from a distant archipelago, where he hides his gains to avoid taxes. You owe yourselves to know before you vote! Here it is:

Clinton should not even be allowed to have anything to do with politics again; he is nothing but a lying, womanizing has been, impeached ex who is in large fault for the economic mess we are in. It will be a great blessing with Romney becomes our next President and Ryan our next Vice President. This country needs to be restored to a nation of economic, foreign policy and moral strength again. Time to clean house. It will also give me great pleasure to see the imbicilic, condescending smirk wiped off the face of the lyin' blow hard Joe Biden.

Wonder what Bill thinks of Barry throwing Hillary under the very large bus. Hillary needs to resign now and tell America the truth. If she protects Barry, she's going down with him.

The Republicans didn't have the votes at the time 09-10 to even fillibuster. Democrats passed Obamacare with no Republican votes. The had the power to pass what ever they wanted. They did not raise taxes on the so called rich, they did not change imagration, they did not save the economy, they did not lower unemployment. What they did was to double the cost of gas, and food. The gave billions to companies that went out of business, or went to other countries. The regulated business back to the stoneage. Why do you think that the 2010 election made such a change? It was to stop where Obama was taking us.

300Michael--Sit up straight and pay attention. I'm only going to say this once.

Neither the Democrats (nor the Republicans) set the price of gas. With all the subsidies the Republicans have given their owners in the oil and gas industry, you'd think gasoline would be dirt cheap. But no! The price of gasoline is determined by the market (you know--that free market you're always blathering about?). The same is true of food.

Of all the companies that received funds, only a handful went bankrupt. But, gee, isn't that the same as what vulture capitalists like your candidate do all the time? Why aren't you breathing down THEIR necks, Republicans? Is it because that would be biting the hand that feeds you?

I look around and I see business taking place all the time. No one is in the Stone Age. Too many of you RWNJ's want no regulation at all. You want to go backward to the days of the robber barons. Like it or not, it is no longer the 1800's.

Trickle-down and deregulation have never, do not now, and will never work. What do you think got us in this mess? You want to use the same tired policies that have failed time after time and will never work. You expect a different outcome. That, sir, is insanity.

The only change I see from 2010 is that the Teapublicans only care about their ideology. They do not care about the country or the American people at all.

Democrats don't lie, they just totally distort the truth, which in thier eyes is not a lie. I have seen what Romney can do, and I have seen what Obama can do. The the answer is simple, I would rather have President Romney. I don't think he could do as bad as Obama has done, even if he wanted to.

Which word is that? The one for gay marriage, or against gay marriage, then back to for gay marriage? Or the one no tax increases on people under 500K, then 250K, then 200K then 250K then over 1 dollar, with the Obamacare taxes (16 of which will hit those making more then $3 thousand dollars) The only thing that saves Obama is Harry Reid will not persue any investigations on Fast and Furiousgate, Libiagate, Soylindragate, GMgate. and now the 7.8% unemploymentgate.
