Updated 3:11 p.m. - President Barack Obama's campaign manager cautioned Thursday that the election is "far from over," just as polls show GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney gaining on Obama.
"This thing is far from over," campaign manager Jim Messina said on a conference call, "and every single day, across the battleground states, voters are voting and we are able to affect that vote every single day."
Messina was speaking on a call to boast of their campaign's efforts to register voters in key swing states, and, beyond that, encourage early voting where it's allowed.
There are signs that this strategy has paid dividends, too. Almost 1-in-5 respondents in the Thursday NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist poll of Ohio said they had voted early; 63 percent of those who had already cast ballots said they had voted for Obama.
At the same time, though, Romney has eaten into Obama's lead in swing states like Ohio, Virginia and Florida on the strength of his debate performance last week against the president. The tightening polls have prompted Democratic nervousness that Romney stands a better-than-expected chance at winning the election.
Messina sent out a clarion call to supporters to warn against complacency.
"The most important think I learned when I was running track was to finish strong," he said. "At the end of a race, you sprint and lean into the tape, you don't let up. And quite simply, we're not going to let up until Election Night when we win this thing. And the ground game we've built up over the past few years will help us drive hard right through that finish line."
Romney political director Rich Beeson said in response: “Since the debate, we’ve seen a 63 percent increase in volunteer hours, a growing enthusiasm gap that continues to favor Governor Romney, a strengthening of our already strong ground game, and we’re seeing the effects of this in polling numbers across the battleground states. What the Obama campaign didn’t tell you is that we are leading or even with them in early vote in key states across the country – FL, NC, CO, NV, and NH. Our early vote numbers are outperforming voter registration in battleground states, demonstrating the strength of our ground game and the excitement for the Romney/Ryan ticket. Not only are we keeping pace with the vaunted Obama machine, but we believe our ground game will put us over the finish line on Election Day.”

Wow. "This thing is far from over"?
How far the mighty have fallen.
Why according to the regulars on Team Blue here this thing has been over for months.
Hmmm, maybe debates do matter, eh?
Geez, WCA, read the whole article before you comment, will you? He was just telling us liberals not to get too cocky:
"Messina sent out a clarion call to supporters to warn against complacency.
P.S. - So far, Romney's "ground game" seems to consist of a bunch of lawn signs stuck on the exit ramps of I-95. Team Obama actually gets out there and works for it.
agreed WCA, however also agreed this is far from Over. Never underestimate your opponent. Nov 6 is the day that counts, not a day before. Our Libby friends like Dennis and Job1 like to post some weird electoral stuff but it is meaningless.
and yet most of you are still full speed ahead with your arrogance.
90% of Ohio likely voters say the Debate made no difference in who the support
This may well be why President Obama still leads in Ohio
20% of Ohio voters have already voted early and Obama is ahead 2 to 1
Why is that important … because no Republican has ever won the Whitehouse without winning Ohio
Dennis - I read the same thing about Ohio. But, I'm all for working to keep momentum building for Obama. It's not over until it's over and we've seen the dishonesty of the GOP in the past. We can't be complacent.
Obama/Biden 2012
This is way we must work hard to give President Obama a second term and vote out the recalcitrant GOP/Tea Party so Our President will have a Congress to work with.
The Republicans are full of lies and dirty tricks like voter suppression. We must work harder and not take anything for granted.

WCA, yes, debates DO matter.....but I think RESULTS matter more.....thus the change of Michigan from "leans blue" to "toss-up." I think the RESULTS of the Republican governor and the 2010 results of the house and senate have produced some POSITIVE results in Michigan......people are waking up!!!! (of course, the DISASTROUS results of former Governer Jenny-from-da-hood have helped, too.) "LOL!"
I'd vote for Obama today if I could!
It's not over until the winner is announced on November 6. We all recognize that. There are still 26 days left to go and we are not giving up our support of President Obama because of a debate performance.
If Republicans want to get cocky, that's up to them.
I also agree this debate will matter. If Biden doesn't have a good debate, which he shouldn't, and Obama doesn't score high, then it's going to be difficult for the liberals.
Obama does well in the format of the second debate, but the momentum is on Mitt. Obama will have some explaining to do regarding the situation that resulted in the loss of Mr. Stevens, as well as the economy and spending.
@oscar rules
lmao i see you are familiar with are infamous Governor Grandmole from Canada "eh" to bad she wasn't born in the USA she would have loved to be the liberal sarah palin
Biden himself is proof positive that VPs don't matter.......people vote for the president, regardless of who the VP is.
Dennis, Columbus, Ohio

Why is that important … because no Republican has ever won the Whitehouse without winning Ohio
Dennis, I sure hope the undecided do not buy the Romney Lies. What effect do you think your governor will play? Will he go along with the Romney Lie that there are no jobs created?
"people vote for the president, regardless of who the VP is.'
Yeah, tell that to John McCain.....
It's over .. with the certain victory of Pres. Obama.
Sarah Palin hardly had anything to do with the GOP loss. McCain or any repub had a slim shot really because of Bush. you know that.
Yes, michigan northener, she really "blew michigan away" huh?? She promised Michigan would be blown away and yes it was, under her leadership. Well, more like FLUSHED down the toilet. And Hussein has continued the royal flush....... "LOL"
What else do you need?
The lowest unemployment rate in last 4 years (data from last Friday);
The lowest unemployment claims in the last 5 years (data published today) ...
.
We are moving forward... We are better off than 4 years ago..
.
DOW Jones improved from 7,000+ on January 20, 2009 to today's around 13,500. Our 401Ks are back, corporations are flush with cash, College endowments are full of money to give as scholarships....
.
Whatever do you need??
.
The election is over; Pres. O will be re-elected;
.
FORWARD...
Bev,
Kasich is bragging on job creation and that it is below 7.5% … not a help for Romney.
Here in Central Ohio the unemployment ranges from 4.9% to 6.3%.

bison,
Are you not aware President Obama is advantage in critical swing states with the exception of a 2 the last I check? I don't see how momentum will carry Romney over because people are paying more attention now. The more Romney and Ryan open their mouths the more lies, smears, and falsehoods occur. People are not stupid.

Thank you Dennis
It looks like the GOP plan to obstruct President is not gonna fly in Ohio. Hopefully in other places in the nation too. I'm rather surprised at Kacish (sp) since is a t- bagger and had a show on FOX.
I believe in the adage what goes up most come down. It has has been too long now that these Republican have been flying high off the middle class.
Then there is the other adage what goes around comes right back at you. I think Tamron Hall just said the prez is up in FL
Oscar....flushed MI??
Obama's (and Bush's for that matter) bailouts of the auto industry saved Michigan. Are you totally clueless, or what?
My worry is an Ohio Diebold "miracle" a-la 2004.
Possible if the margin is <1%. Not when it's 8%.
You are absolutely right Oscar. But don't try telling that to the Libs on this board.
According to them Obama deserves all of the credit for Michigan's comeback. What with him saving the Aut Industry and all. (Or say he keeps saying)
Snyder was a no nonsense business man who didn't hesitate to make some hard choices. Everybody felt a little pain, but we are all better in the long run for his decisions.
And yeah, Jen-Jen never came through on her promise to "Blow Me away" either.
Hey Dennis, while appreciate your fascination with polls (Something I really don't believe in). I am left wondering, do you let polls decide how you are going to think, much like politicians do?
If your numbers are correct, which I doubt, thre are 7.7 million voters in Ohio. if 20% have voted early than that is about 1.54 million, so according to you about 1 million have voted for Obama and 500,000 for Romney.
That leave around 6.2 million to vote yet.
But go ahead and count those chickens Dennis. Hell in 2004 the exit polls had John Kerry celebrating his victory.
Smbusowner ......you don't know what your talking about , Michigan was in a recession for 5 years before the rest of the country felt any thing. there are alot of factors that attributed to this and one of them was Grandmoles tax the rich for the welfare class policies
The fat lady is warming up.
Far from over.
Mitt still has the problem of not standing for a solid position on anything! Getting Mitt to be clear on a topic is like trying to nail jello to a wall.
ranges? so you mean by county/city? That is good, unfortunately where I am at, not so fortunate. now my state wont carry either canidate ultimately but hey I am American and part of that equation. Good for Central Ohio and even though I know where you are going with your unemployment percentages, the bigger picture is still indeed grim.
I figured NBC and FR did. could be wrong
Wrong and I am a living example. I was leaning McCain until he choose Palin. McCain lost my vote because of grabbing Mrs Ditz.
He was a Moderate who stood firm on most positions, until Palin and until he did just what Mitt is doing. Changing positions to pander to the base.
No democrat has ever won the White House without WV - except for the 1960 election when JFK bought the election there
But yet again we find there are problems with the numbers. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the number of coincidences all favoring the Administration are growing.

There are stories going around that Obama wears a ring that says" There's No God But Allah."
That's pure BS.
Here, look up West Virginia and the Results.

SmBusOwner, Hussein did NOT bailout the auto industry. He illegally transferred ownership of Chrysler and GM to the unions. Bottom line. I wouldn't expect you to know that if you didn't live through it. GM still owes us taxpayers and the glorious Volt looses money with each unit that rolls off the assembly line.
Sarah Palin hardly had anything to do with the GOP loss.
Correct! McCain lost because he suspended his campaign to go to DC to see what he could do to get TARP passed. That was the actual turning point. Until that day, McCain was on the upswing.
For those who weren't old enough for the 1992 Election, those who forgot, and those that chose to forget, Ross Perot was on the upswing and had gotten to 27% of Americans set to vote for him. Perot, without a reasonable explanation suspended his campaign. Upon the suspension, his numbers dropped like a rock.
McCain lost because of his mistake of suspending his campaign. To people, it makes you look unprepared and erratic, which is exactly what Obama climbed all over McCain for.
Is being a dishonest liar actually a virtue in your mind? Try again... This time with proof to back up your lies. Well I know that's impossible so I doubt you'll even attempt to prove yourself.
there are stories going around that Ben-636050 believes in Tooth Fairy
If you call 26 days "far" I guess Messina is right. 26, boy does that number ring a bell. It's the same number that Mr Obama's proposed budget calls for in debt. $26 Trillion. You know, the debt he promised not to pass on to our children and grandchildren. I wonder why Diane Sawyer didn't ask Mr. Obama about that? We can now, unequivocally, take her off the journalist list and put her on the partisan hack lap dog list. Don't forget to send her a flea collar for Christmas!
OK, sorry, Jeff - 1592116, I should have been VERY specific and said "MOST" people IN GENERAL vote for the president and not the VP. Of course, there are singular people like you and a few of your buddies that are swayed by a VP candidate. I stand corrected. I did not mean to make a sweeping generalization. I did not realize that it wasn't clear that I meant "people in general." I always forget how the people of Libralland usually take a teeeeny little point and skew it to the extreme. My apologies.

Obama/Biden 2012
Dereliction of Duty. That is what Obama's last 4 years have been all about. Unfortunately, it had to result in the death of 4 US diplomats and the theft of sensitive security information, as a result of a planned terrorist assassination attack on the anniversary of 9/11, before some people would start to realize just how incompetent and AWOL Mr. Obama has been. And the following statement tells you all you need to know about the motivations behind Mr. Obama's negligence.
"That view was echoed by Eric Nordstrom, is the former chief security officer for U.S. diplomats in Libya, who told the committee his pleas for more security were ignored.
Nordstrom addressed the diplomatic security issue in an Oct. 1 email to a congressional investigator. He said his requests for more security were blocked by a department policy to "normalize operations and reduce security resources."
Yes, indeed, Obama wanted everyone to believe that he had normalized the situation in the ME and that there was and is no longer any more need for security or military resources there, despite wide spread warnings and attacks leading up to the 9/11 assassination hit. All because Obama wants to make himself look bigger than he really is and to dupe people into believing that his policies are working. So, when the proverbial shat hit the fan, he was stuck using a cover story, concocted by terrorist, to try and hide his incompetence and failures in order to keep them from impacting his reelection campaign. Most of the media lap dogs went along with it. But thanks to some and members of Congress, it is now being exposed and will continue to be exposed. And anybody that votes for Obama in Nov is condoning his failures and dooming US to 4 more years of incompetence and lies. Count me out. I'm voting for strong leadership that will focus on the nation's needs and not his own agenda. I'm voting for Romney!
Jeff @ #1.36.......when you can't refute someone, resort to mocking, namecalling and screaming "liar!" You sound like Hussein....
I heard the same thing, SS......Sister wives!
Romney didn't tell people he would cut deficit spending and reduce the debt and then turn around and submit budget proposals to Congress that call for continued record setting deficit spending and a $26 Trillion debt. But Obama did. The list of Obama lies is so long that they are starting to catch up to the numbers on the debt clock
If you vote for Romney you might as well be voting in the Taliban!
They are anti-science, anti-facts, anti-worker, anti-woman, anti-minority, anti-reason, and anti-American! Vote Obama/Biden like your life depends it, it does!

Funny BayLIE laughs. So if Palin blew the campaign for McCain, I guess that says Obama is pretty crappy too.
While we are at it, lets talk about the specifics of the Obama plan
THE OBAMA MASSIVE DEBT PLAN!!!
Straight from Mr. Obama's fourth proposed budget. Here is the debt he is proposing to foist on US, our kids and grandchildren to go along with his big government as the center of the universe agenda.:
Almost $26 Trillion in debt proposed /projected by Mr. Obama. UNSUSTAINABLE! And we all know that in actual practice it will turn out to be a lot higher if Obama is returned to office. And on July 16, on Morning Joe, Mr. Obama's spokesperson, Rep. Jim Clyburn(D), admitted that the Obama plan necessarily will require middle class tax hikes in the years going forward after the election, in order to pay for the deficit spending and debt laden Obama plan. Which is why Mr. Obama is only proposing a ONE YEAR extension of the current middle class tax rates.
And please, when you see Mr. Obama on the campaign trail, ask him how much yearly revenue he perceives his proposed tax hike on those making over $200,000.00/$250,000.00 per couple (projected to raise $60 to 70 billion)will raise, and how that will even come close to his proposed $1.3 Trillion per year in deficit spending and debt building. Oh, silly me, I forgot, Obama doesn't take questions on the campaign trail. He only sits for interviews with People magazine and radio spots with the Pimp With A Limp.
Too bad Mr. Obama can't discuss his budget plan with the American people. He knows it will be rejected, so he is busy playing with smoke and mirror attacks on Mr. Romney and giving meaningless rhetorical speeches in the hopes of duping voters once again.
Confused Voter - you ARE confused AND you have a very short memory. President Obama won the election in 2008 - and McCain won W VA. Try again!

WCA,
@1.23
My interest in polls comes from my many years doing industry sales forecasting
It is a hobby and has no influence on my decisions
The percentage range covers 3 counties which includes just over 2 million people
In 2008 there were 5.6 million votes cast in Ohio. Assuming the same number this year 20% would be 1.12 million voters
Democrats always lead in early voting and to a lesser number in absentee ballots so a 2:1 should be considered normal/average.
blearyeyed
that's true. I'm from Mass where most have teeth so I forget :)
FOX NEWS ALERT! One source claims Romney has sister wives, and another independent source confirms it. It must be true!
Seriously though, if such a story came out that was so damaging to Republicans, you would never hear about it on FOX. They would just run those features with a country singer or two, or use up time giving viewers tips for successful barbeques (such as don't leave your potato salad in the sun).

I will ask again because for some reason no one wants to answer:
what do you have left after you take out: 2 unpaid wars, unpaid Bush tax cuts, Bush mortgage + Bush mortgage interest, unpaid Medicare Part D, unpaid Bush SS IOUs???

"He who laughs last, laughs best."
I'm saving mine for Nov 6th. Since the Construction Industry has slipped to 48% of normal down from 53% of normal 3 months ago. I have lots of time to examine the statistic in the polls.
By EP, Romney is at 235. EP Nailed the EC vote in 2008.
The only thing keeping Obama ahead in a number of states is a poll or two that are over sampled in democrats.
Now Jeff is resorting to profanities. Sorry you don't know how to use The Google. Hussein awarded majority ownership to the unions and screwed the debtors-in-possession. Illegal. And, YES, GM and Chrysler DID go bankrupt, just like Romney said they should. Difference is, Romney wanted a a LEAGLLY managed bankruptcy, NOT a HANDOVER to the unions. THAT's the BS you should be carping about, Jeff, instead of your blah, blah, blah mocking and name-calling!!!!!! Educate yourself instead of spewing talking points.
I've heard they keep Ted Nugent in the wings for just such occasions.

@Ben
You know I have many issues with the Administrations economic policies, but when a post like this comes up, similar to the birther nonsense, it de-legitimizes valid criticism.
Democrats always lead in early voting and to a lesser number in absentee ballots so a 2:1 should be considered normal/average.
Thanks, Dennis. Had you included that last line in your first post, I probably wouldn't have responded.
I have dealt with quality surveys for the Auto Industry at times. One thing I learned is they are never black and white. People have a whole lot of reasons for responding the way they do. For instance, nobody who spent $50,000 on a Cadillac wants to put in a survey that it has quality problems. They like to brag to their friends about what a great car they have even if something may go wrong. So numbers are inflated.
Just to many variables in "Anonymous Polls".
My only point is this: This Obama guy is correct. This thing is far from over and I'll wait until November 7th to see what the only poll that matters says.
DB Akron
right now I'm laughing at your silly statement about Failin' Palin. Her big political career would not have ended up as an occasional contributor to Fox News if she was a competent VP pick.
The Obama Administration. Who are for 80% of the Bush tax cuts plus 2% payroll tax cuts, who are not paying for the escalation of the war in Afghanistan and who have increased the resources allocated to Medicare D but cut no spending nor increased any taxes to pay for it. The fact that Obama cut the payroll tax makes your comment on unpaid Bush SS IUO's disingenuous to say the least. You complain about all the budget busting policies of the Bush Administration but ignore the fact that the current Administration has made no changes to these policies, nor proposed any, apart from an increase on the top tax rate.
SeekingSanity
no worries, I'll bet 10 thousand Romney bucks that this 2 month-old rereg will be gone soon...just a matter of time before one of Oscar's split personalities gets caught.
KingK - did you seem to forget bush ignored the clinton administrations warnings about 9/11. the clinton admin knew something was going on & they gave the info to bush administration who ignored it because it came from a democrat. with bush ignoring that intel it has cost 3k lives.
I just don't get how people can vote for a person that will bring us back to the 1950's, doesn't respect a women's right to make a choice about her body. if he's so pro-life then he better ban capital punishment too. he's a person who tells you what you want to hear. we still have no idea what he solidly stands for besides wanting to go to war with Iran (i think that's the only thing he hasn't flipped on).
i can't believe all the people that believe his bs, he was lying at the debates, no wonder why the pres was off his game, how do you debate a liar. Ok fine if you don't like Obama but things are getting better (esp here in MI) why would you want to go back to how it all started.
Does everyone know that Ann has stated that if they release past tax returns there's big things in them that would make the dems pounce on. so that tells me they did take the tax amesty in '09 & that the robme's are better off today than in '08.
Does everyone know that robme's don't go by the bible they go by the book of mormons. i'm sure the southern baptists would love that.

You are so right about the birther nonsense and the latest from Ben about the Allah ring.
There are serious issues facing this country that require an informed citizenry's attention and serious discussion.
This other stuff is just a distraction and waste of time.

Iraq ended some time ago. Obama is running Afghanistan. Any debt created by those two wars during the Bush era is not new debt. The Obama budget proposal callas for an additional $10 Trillion in new debt, on top of the $5 to $6 trillion he has already added since becoming President That $10 Trillion in new debt is created by his proposed 10 years of new record pace deficit spending. There simply is nothing "balanced" about the Obama approach. I know Obama supporters want to ignore his proposed budget, but as Joe Biden says, if you want to figure out a man's priorities, look at his budget. Obama's priorities are clearly the continuation of record pace deficit spending and creation of massive debt.
cess
Funny., I don't see G. Bush running. And I don't see you Obama supporters talking about the lies Mr. Obama repeatedly made about the assassination of our Ambassador and 3 other Americans on the anniversary of 9/11, in order to try and keep it from impacting his campaign.
I don't know about you, but I don't want a President that is willing to adopt a story, concocted by terrorist in an effort to disguise a planned 9/11 terrorist assassination attack on a US Consulate, in order to serve his own self interest.
Alan, NJ
we've been there, done that already . Clinton raised taxes on the top 1.2% without a single Republican vote in 1993. This time around, Republicans want to keep the Bush status quo.
Tax cuts such Bush tax cuts are not to be permanent. They are supposed be temporary - like a defibrillator that jumps starts the economy - instead they are being used like a malfunctioning life support.
And having tax cuts and a war (or 2) is a recipe for disaster.
Bush tax cuts have not worked for years. The only thing they did was put us more in debt, accrued interest, and forced us to look at cutting programs like education.
Now you want to elect a guy who cannot explain how he will pay for more tax cuts. Guess what, he proved already what he is capable of. Romney raised fees in Mass from licensing to registrations to even fees for blind and disabled. And guess what? Just because he says he won't raise anything on the Middle Class, he's already done it so we know he will do it again.
KingK - the debt of both wars is Bush's - which he conveniently left "off the books." Try to keep up! Obama actually put it on the books!
Romney's tax plan will add $4.8 trillion deficit - according to the Tax Policy Center. Explain please!

What lies? Care to elaborate?
According to Hadeel Al-Shalchi, a Reuters reporter, in his Sept 13th interview on NPR, he interviewed demonstrators from Benghazi Consulate protest on Sept. 11, 2012.
He also interviewed Libyan security guards there who said some of the other guards had let the Libyan protestors get too close to the consulate.
In his report, demonstrators told him that armed men were dispersed throughout the demonstrators and as they got close to the consulate, these armed men launched their attack.
Perhaps, you should ask Hadeel what he knows. I sure hope the FBI does.
Mitt Romney is the gwaddamndest and most obvious LIAR ever to run for the Presidency. Looks like the sum-bitch would have at least learned to turn His lies in a basic and near coherent fashion, palatable enough to persuade the very simple minded folk who wish to support Him to be able to do so without them having to lie to themselves to do It. Beats anything I've ever stuck my finger in!
Look at "DB Akron" somewhere above. Said Sarah Palin had nothing to do with McCain losing His election. Liked to have killed "bayllie" with that statement. "DB" is caught in the groove and stacking 'em high, and they're gonna fall right down on Him. Romneys not even good for a laugh anymore. The crazy bastard is gonna lose.
ceespot ..... did you forget to mention that there was a CIA plan to grab Osama during Clinton's tenure. But because he was already lying about his blow job in the oral office he didn't want to do it and be accused of trying to distract from that ?
I simply point out that the current Administration has no plans to change the majority of the Bush tax rates, has escalated an unfunded war and expanded an unfunded entitlement. Yes they were Bush policies, but the polices being promoted by the current Administration offer minor changes. That being said how can Obama claim that Bush is responsible for the current deficits when his polices would only close the current deficit by 70B
How? The issue is that the wars were unfunded, the money was borrowed. What has Obama done different? Did I miss the tax increase to pay for escalating the war in Afghanistan? Did Obama cut some program at the Pentagon that cost 2B a month? Or did simply do what his predecessor did and borrow the money?
I take that last part back. From what I understand we are no longer borrowing as much from China, we are simply printing it.
KingK
Obama ended Iraq - McCain wanted it to continue for the next 100 years. "Small" difference isn't it?
yes he is but was that ever a choice? What is your point exactly? Republicans bitched that we ended Iraq when we did - too soon they cried. But with this one you will claim that it's too long? Did Obama invade this country? I know Republicans like to dump sh*t on the next guy but even though the Bush Administration invaded the country, we as a nation own it to finish what we started.
Remember this: it appears that the Republicans LOVE to start wars - they prove it over and over. We can't pay for the ones we already have but you want to elect a guy who want to start more wars, and increase defense spending. Great planning.
Alan,
you refused to see a difference between rolling taxes back for the top 2% to Clinton rates (by Obama) and Romney's more tax cuts which even Romney will not explain how he will pay for them.
Do you know how Romney is paying for more tax cuts? Because he HAS to pay for them or they will add to deficit.
He will offer a strategic plan to congress and negotiate with them the rates, and the deductions to pay for them. That is what happened in 1986. Will he get everything he asks for? I doubt it but anything that cleans up the tax code is better than the status quo. What is the current Administration offering? 70B in tax increases that they plan to spend on other programs. No specifics on how reducing the amount paid to providers will affect Medicare. He has a board of experts that will recommend reductions in Medicare, except that it is toothless...so what's the point. A second Obama Administration will do nothing different from the first 4 years and hope that they get out in time before the financial house cards comes crashing down.
Mr. Obama is the one that went into Libya, without Congressional approval. Mr. Obama is the one conducting a covert war in Yemen. Mr. Obama is the one conducting a covert war in Iran with cyber attacks and assassinations of scientists. Mr. Obama is the one who has placed troops in Turkey (again, without Congressional approval) poised to take action in Syria.I'm sure the Russians are not too happy about that. And Mr Obama has stated, weakly, that he will exercise a military option against Iran if the Iranian leadership "decides" to construct a nuke. (I guess one of Mr. Obama's many qualities is his ability to read the minds of the Iranian leadership). So if you are deciding who not to vote for based upon the likelihood that we will wind up in a war under their watch, Mr. Obama has already lost on that score.
And the sad part about it all is, that in the process of doing so, Mr. Obama has weakened the US in the eyes of those that hate US, so he has increased the likelihood that we will suffer more attacks in the future.
Strong leadership, the type we will get with Mr. Romney, does not convey weakness, but projects strength. That projection lessens the will of those that hate US to attack and resist diplomacy as a means of resolution. Which Mr. Obama utterly fails to understand.
Actually I never did. :) But then again a liar such as yourself will say anything so meh, moot point.
We learned one thing today Boys and Girls. Liars will vote for Mitt. :)

I will point out that the unfunded war you speak of is winding down with the surge ending a couple of weeks ago in Afghanistan. In our history, we usually borrow to fight wars. This war will end in 2014.
The Bush tax cuts were never intended to expire. They were passed through reconciliation process which requires an expiration date. And Republicans have blocked Obama efforts to allow breaks for higher income Americans to expire.
The very nature of some of the other tax cuts make them difficult to eliminate. Child tax credit of $1000 per child is such a cut.
With higher growth rate of 3 to 4%, half of our budget deficit would be eliminated through increased revenue and lower safety net and unemployment costs.
We could be at 3 to 4% growth now if Obama's AJA (jobs bill) and infrastructure bill had not been blocked by Republicans in Congress last year.
You need lower rate of unemployment for any further government cuts to work at reducing deficit without hurting economy. Cutting government spending in a time of high unemployment will result in higher unemployment, slower growth, and cost savings eaten up by declining tax revenues and higher unemployment, safety net costs.
In addition, a higher growth economy strengthens the housing market, business's bottom line, and consumer's pocketbooks. It reduces bad debts and foreclosures. These would all help the private sector regain its lost strength.
By the way, in 2004, I had a yard sign that read "$318 Billion DEFICIT". I have been concerned about deficit for quite a while, but we must use economic principles to make budget deficit reduction work like Bill Clinton did (4 balanced budgets after tax increase on rich).
This ended the day he toke office and it was George Bush that brought Obama and McCain into his office to tell them about the bail outs.
Bayllie - Your post at 1.76 is not factual. Obama tried to extend American troops stay in Iraq past the 31 Dec 2011 deadline set in the SOFA between President Bush and the Iraqi Government. The Iraqi government refused Obama's request to renegotiate the SOFA, therefore, the U.S. had no choice but to remove all American troops NLT 31 Dec 2011.
King K,
We never went into Libya. We did airstrikes to save Benghazi in the first week of NATO intervention. After that , we provided logistical support for other NATO allies.
There is no proof that we are behind covert operations against Iran nuclear enrichment program. It could have been the Israilis. Furthermore, isn't slowing down the Iran enrichment program something most Americans including Romney desire? CIA has been doing secret work to further our national interest since their inception.
As to Yemen, I believe our drone program has gotten the approval of Congress. They certainly appropriated the money for it.
Iran has an upcoming election in the Spring. Their last election was marred by massive street protests. What will Ayatollah do about nuclear program and sanctions? Deteriorating economy may led to even larger street protests in nest election there.
Recent demonstrations in Middle East were the work of extremist Muslim groups, although many unemployed probably joined in. Most Muslims stayed at home and lamented how the demonstrations would hurt their economic prospects.
In Libya, they have had demonstrations and attacks against militia groups that were seen as source of attack at Benghazi or source of future attacks.
In Pakistan, the shooting of 14 year old girl who just wanted to go to school has energized anti-Taliban people there. Demonstrations against Taliban continue there.
Your view of Middle East situation is far too pessimistic in my opinion. The Middle East is always a tricky place for American foreign policy. I believe Obama's policy there is working and I'm voting for Obama.
Did you check out Hadeel Al-Shalchi's report on protests in Benghazi on Sept 11, 2012 yet? Conflicting reports on protest are real, not some liberal fabrication.
Miss Beverly, I don't believe the GOP is out to obstruct the president - accordingly to the last debate, he did an outstanding job all on his own. Sure, he'll come out swinging in this next one, but will his actions be too much, too late?
He had his opportunities against Romney, but blew it big time. Will he appear to be reaching this time, creating a bad image for his campaign? If his record comes up for discussion, how can he make it appear to be truthful?
No, I think his image is done when having to answer the tough questions that I hope will be brought to both candidates.

so you do not have an answer on how Romny will pay for the tax cuts
he will, he will not. One thing we know about Romney is that what he is FOR at breakfast will change by lunch.
Uncle Bob
Rolling Stone as a source? Suppose you use playboy too?
safecracker123
I find it interesting how Romney supporters use 1 debate to erase the entire Romney campaign failure.
One debate does not erase the fact that the Republicans don't trust Romney.
One debate does not erase the fact that Romney has managed to offend England, Poland, 47% of US population, and managed to open his stupid mouth about the "apology" 6 minutes after the bombing was announced by Clinton.
One debate will not erase the fact that Romney has flip flopped on every issue except one: not releasing his taxes since 1994.
One debate will not erase the fact that Romney's details about every single plan is "Trust me."
sfcret
and yet he ended it, didn't he? Unlike John McSame who wanted it to go on for the next 100 years.
btw, what exactly is not factual about my post? Where did I mention deadlines? When did I mention anything other than HE ENDED a war that he did not start?
If you're not sure about whether or not you like the Affordable Care Act, Dodd-Frank, Medicare or less taxes and less spending, then your choice should be Governor Romney.
He has not made up his mind on those picky issues either. He does know he wants to be President.
code word: foreward= forewarned. %GNP this month 1.3%, % GNP Bush worst tear 3.3%, you think this is looking good?
bayllie - No, Obama did not end the war in Iraq, he wanted to EXTEND IT, just like McCain did, and was shot down by the Iraqi Government (Lack of Leadership and negotiating skills). He gave no order to remove the troops, all he did was follow what Bush had established. When someone ends something it means on his terms, that never happened. Obama is a liar when he said he ended the war.
yep, look up the Status Of Forces Agreement It was ratified Dec 2008 by the Iraqi Gov. Obama simple was forced to follow it. He did not get us out of Iraq. If he was able to, then why not that sh*thole Afghan?
Hey Ben there is a story going around that Romney has a tattoo on his a$$hole that says reserved for Koch.
So the truth is becoming a big problem for the Obama campaign.
Wow is right. What a story!!!!!! What a revelation!!!!! Yep dumba$$ it will be over in about 26 days so have your resume handy but you better leave your last employer off it.
Ben - let's see, why would the election change my employment? I'll be doing the same job next year as now. And, the owner of my company will be voting Obama in November - as he did in 2008.
Get a grip - come back to reality.
Obama/Biden 2012
Seeking -
I'm guessing that you don't work for this company - this boss sounds like the next Republican Man of The Year!
"David Siegel, the owner of Westgate Resorts, sent a surprising email to his
employees Monday.
It said that if President Barack Obama wins re-election and raises Siegel's taxes, he will have to lay off workers and downsize his company — or even shut it down.
"If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company," he wrote. "Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone."
In a version of Romney's "47 percent" remarks, Siegel added that "people like
me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for."
The points are ones that have often been made during this election. But what
makes the letter surprising is the source.
David Siegel is the man who, together with his wife, Jackie, built the largest new house in America, known as "Versailles." His story first appeared in my book "The High-Beta Rich." It then made it to the big screen with the documentary film "The Queen of Versailles."They became symbols of outsized spending, debt and real estate in America.
But when the company started buckling under $1 billion in debt during the crisis, the Siegels' home went into foreclosure and was put up for sale. They cut back on the jet, took the kids out of private school and gave up some of their staff. (Read more: Social Media's Billion-Dollar Rollercoaster)
So why is David Siegel — a man who defined excess and debt in the 2000s — now
saying that debt and spending are ruining the country?
I asked David and during a phone interview last night, and he told me that this was about his workers, not him. He said his own finances have vastly improved. He has paid off all of his major lenders. "I have enough money for the rest of my life and enough to leave a good inheritance for our kids." He said the loan for Versailles is paid off and he's resuming construction on the home.
"The elevators are going in and they're preparing to put in the marble."

The bolding is mine. He goes on to claim that he's not really trying to intimidate his employees about who they should vote for, though. What a guy.....Hey, maybe if Ryan blows it tonight, Romney could still get this guy on the ticket?
SS,
Are you dumba$$? I think he was talking about Obama.
what employer is that seeking ? Obama ? your on here 24/7 . oh i know you multi task at work. yeah ok
No sh!t Theotas. LMAO. I ignore her any way.
no way, too much watching her call people stupid while attempting to pass off being Super Smart.
I own 2 companys and yes I post on here because work is slow vary slow all my workers are part time and so am I.
That Resort owner simply was expressing what most other businesses are thinking, but not wanting to admit.

"Fear, you do? Emotions, trust, you should not!"

If someone doesn't stop the power grab, you still lose!
Ben,
In the absense of rebuttal, the assertions become the reality.
The economy will continue to improve through the end of this year no matter who wins this election. Housing prices are up, mortgage rates down, good time to refinance if you are not underwater on your home.
Consumer debt is down which should lead to increased spending this coming holiday season. Americans are also more likely to try to buy American made where there is a choice.
Rising sales will lead to more hiring. So, I guess Ben can get that job now.
shaak322 - and record numbers of homeowners are refinancing - freeing up money to be spent in other areas. Homeowners who are even a little underwater can refinance if certain conditions are met. And, rates will NOT be lower in our lifetime.
The economy is slowing turning up but our recovery is slow and we can lay the blame for that on Congressional Republicans who frankly don't give a damn.

bison,
Polls, are like the wind and how theyon are sampled. The true poll results will happen on election day. But from the dismal record of President Obama during the last debate, Romney has increased his lead, and accordingly to which poll you choose to follow, this president has lost much standing.
Bev, much of the lies you probably feel are a direct result of the liberal media essays from the liberal pundits. If you would take the time to review what is fact and what is fiction, you may come to a different conclusion. But, since you do show liberal views, I would doubt it.
During the last election, Obama presented a message that many believed. Now, after almost four years, those people are really questioning: Are they better off today than then; are we more safer today than then; are we being lied to by this administration?
It will be interesting, especially if Obama performs as he did in his last debate. Even if Obama comes out stronger, will he look like the Dem bully trying to make up for a lost first debate? If he continues to present his lies, he's toast.
What I find amazing is how many on this blog, and the media in general, believe the American people are not as intellligent as they are.
Where I live even my gay friends are voting for Romney,You see they voted for hope and change but now they can only hope for change in Romney 2012
I wonder if anyone can tell me what Romney will do if he is elected. Will his policies be based on what he says, or on how campaign managers correct what he says?
What will Romney attempt to do with the Affordable Care Act? Repeal it on Day 1, or keep all the good stuff?
Will Romney repeal Dodd-Frank, or maintain those business regulations that he liked so much in the debates?
Will Romney enact a 20% income tax rate cut, or propose a tax rate that does not reduce revenue?
Will Romney fight to reverse Roe v Wade, or not offer any legislation on abortion rights?
I agree with you rgray1965. So many of the nations unemployeed are also feeling it.
Many people had had enough of Bush, and the Republican Party establishment believed it knew what was best for us all. Unfortunately, they and the liberal media, plus the liberal control of the House and Senate controlled what would happen in government or what would be said in the media.
In the Democratic War on Conservative Women, Palin and others were vilified by the left while Obama said the words the liberals wanted to hear. And, he was one of them.
During the first rein of President Obama, people saw what he was actually all about. Good for the liberals who wish to change America to their logic; bad for those who are trying to exist.
Most people I talk to who had originally voted for Obama have had a change of heart. It should be an interesting race.
I see the 'chattering' class is full up on their HIGH Fiber breakfast cereals.
That they actually believe Romney or any republican is somehow sitting on a 'goldmine' of NEW ideas that will miraculously turn the economy around; but, yet, they don't have to discuss or outline these spankin' new ideas? I mean, I'm sorry, but my Crapometer has been pegging at EXTREME BULL@!$%# since that Liefest 'debate' performance phony actor man, R$mney pulled off.
The chatter is not the MATTER! People want substance and they KNOW they aren't getting it with the dynamic Fake Duo of R$mney and Ryan. I am not sure when it became 'vogue' to publicly state that you won't let FACTS determine your campaign, or that you don't have to release your tax information in clear and complete disclosures, or that you can stand on a PUBLIC forum and completely walk away from your
STATEDoopsChangedoops EVOLVING positions with impunity,...well, I don't believe for a moment that the voters plan to be duped by this Duo of Doom. But if it's a horse race they want,...I submit this GEM from yesterday:
Boy if this article doesn't SUM up the phony baloney, nothing does:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/10/mitt-romney-glen-doherty_n_1954925.html
This part is especially prescient, "...According to Ellefsen, Doherty found his exchange with Romney to be "insincere and stale."
"Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image," Ellefsen told KIRO. "He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line ... [Doherty] said it was pathetic and comical to have the same person come up to you within only a half hour, have this person reintroduce himself to you, having absolutely no idea whatsoever that he just did this 20 minutes ago, and did not even recognize Glen's face."
Mine too GF!
I can't believe they think a winning strategy is to LIE their asses off and then when called on it, whine about being called liars!
Can't wait to see what brilliant move they come up with next! lol
I'm voting early - for Obama.
There is a wall switch in a secret room of the White House. It is labelled "FIX IT". Obama refuses to throw that switch, which will automatically fix all our problems.
WILLARD MITTENS ROMNEY WILL THROW THAT SWITCH!!!!
All you have to do is put him in the White House, and all our problems will vanish. Willard also offers the convenience to you of not having to worry about the details. Trust him.
Sooooooo......tell me again, WHY.....oh WHY .......didn't Hussein call out Romney on all his lies?????!?!?!?????
You can't cram something which would take a week and a half into 90 minutes!
Feisty - yep the far right is out in force. And, you can tell by their posts they're still in desperation mode.
I think the reality of their candidates has set in and the can see the handwriting on the wall - even though they hate to admit it!
Obama/Biden 2012
That was exactly my frustration during the debate. Obama didn't have time to debunk Mitten's LIES and tell what REALITY actually is! Don't know how you fight that!
Obama is full of lies 2 you and American for four years,And what he got blame bush and Romney's a lire,he has no plan besides tax the rich and taxing the rich is only plays for 5 days worth of spending then what? Are you looking in the mirror yes you your next he going to have to tax you and the poor.
Wonder could this behavior and other oddities he has have the Lady Ann worried about his mental well being???
From his inability to connect with the average American, his odd outbursts that have then to be walked back and usually by his campaign, to his he he he when he says something inappropriate, to the smirk on his face and funny mincing walk, never mind that he cant remember what his position he holds on any topic I think we have a disaster in the making to be a President.
Hussein didn't have time. RIGHT. He spoke more than Romney.
Why would Obama interrupt Romney during his string of lies? Do you think the American people are stupid? Do you think they can't see him flip flopping all over the place? Do you think they don't see the campaign headquarters correcting Romneys mis-statements?
Let Romney think he's pulling one over on everyone who's listening when he's really exposing himself as a liar, and those who don't have ABO syndrome will see his insincerity and his constantly changing positions.
Oh, this race is over Obama lovers. Obama screwed over the middle class and it's payback time.
You can take your Obamaphones and cry to your illegal immigrant brother.
jw101 - oh more of the ignorant cell phone stupidity. Let's try this again for all of you low information Republicans. The phone "giveaway" was started by the FCC in 1996 - at that time it was landlines. The FCC realized that everyone needs a phone in case of emergencies. They switched to cell phones as the technology made it the smart move. NOTHING to do with Obama.
Oh - and more illegal immigrants deported under Obama than any other President.
Obama/Biden 2012
Feisty -- "I can't believe they think a winning strategy is to lie their asses off..."
Better be careful -- Queen Ann is going to be angry with you.
SeekingSanity....here we go again....Obama changed the accounting method for deportations to include anyone walking up to the border as being classified "deported", so NO, Obama DID NOT have more deportations of illegal immigrants
Also...Obamaphones....landlines are much cheaper and the abuse not so high. How about a doctor's note or three employment applications signed by an employer and THEN you get a free phone, not just a FREE phone for every unemployed clown. $1.3 billion on phones?....I'm tired of paying for this.
i've come to the conclusion that the GOP is nothing but a bunch of whining crybabies cause they're not in control. ie Mitch Mcconnell only priority was to make Obama a one term president & that's it. He didn't give a crap about making things better for a America, so with that Boehner made it his goal to have the GOP obstruct everything the pres put forward to try to make America better. they did that so they can go around & say the pres didn't do anything, well of course he didn't, the house gop made sure it didn't happen.
Please call these obstructionists out, the tea baggers have to go. they care not about America they only care themselves.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
How is it possible to have have political discourse with the type of people that would have purchased a Flow-bee?
We get it, "rgray" and "jw" - one has to be a completely brainwashed, illiterate imbecile to support Miss Mittsy. In fact, Mittsy is banking on the fact that you are incapable of deductive reasoning with a normal, human moral compass.
I am not a Rep, but Obama is not a Democrat, either. He has taken care of the wealthy, Bush tax cuts still in place, bankers rolling in cash, cheap illegal workers everywhere.
If that is what you call a Democrat, you are a fool.
jwj - your "facts" about deportations are not true.
And, it doesn't matter if it's landlines or cells - it was the FCC, not Obama. Plus, you're wrong -cell phones are cheaper! Put the blame where it belongs - the FCC - what part of that can you not understand or is it just that you don't care about the facts - you just want another reason to hate Obama - even if you KNOW it's a lie!
shocked - YOU SAID IT!
Obama/Biden 2012
Seeking - Do you ever get the feeling that you are trying to explain quantum physics to a two-year-old? Maybe if we take out their binky first....
"jw101" does more for President Obama's campaign with every post than I could ever do. Thank you, "jw"!!
So - Romney gets the La-La-Land vote. Just remember, "jw"...only one vote per personality!
Dan
Obama didn't have time to debunk Mitten's LIES and tell what REALITY actually is!
Fact Checkers show that Obama had 4 more minutes than Romney, and the gap was only that narrow because Romney eventually started blowin through the Moderators stops.
Sssshhhhh CO!
Little Queenie, is still in the kitchen burning her "Welsh Cakes" lmao!
DB Akron, "Romney eventually started blowin through the Moderator stops"? As I remember it, Romney blew through the first Moderator stop, then of course, continued to do so.
Might be why Obama got more time.
Actually, Obama does count walk ups as deportations....his admin doesn't like telling the truth (uhmm...Holder) And if the illegals walk away and walk up again, that counts as ANOTHER deportation, He's just playing with the numbers
And no matter WHERE the phone thing started, it went from approx $745 million to $1.4 BILLION dollars under Obama.
BTW, Who pays for Obama phones?....YOU DO !! Check your cell phone bill. Another tax on the middle class that helps the poor and the wealthy (carlos sim, maker of tracphone and world's richest man makes $10 off each Obama phone.
..
Mitt Romney plans on being a pro life presidency and he also believe that nobody dies from not having health insurance. Is this what voters want for a president???
Oops - second almost-double post of the day. Time to step away from the keyboard!
Yeah must get tiresome pasting the same liberal crap
Yeah, michigan...because anyone and everyone that doesn't think precisely as you are being told to think is worthless. That kind of political thinking is much more in line with Hitler's nazi Germany than anything our Founding Fathers ever dreamed of....So, pardon me if I pay more attention to what Joanne in PA has to say than to the rhetorical barf that falls out of your face.
Thank you for again demonstrating the type of person that is driving Miss Mittsy's politics.
As creepy as it is, the more we see it, the better we vote.
JoAnne in PA: I recently retired from a a great job in an organization that if you were not a registered Republican you did not survive. They do not know how you vote in the booth.

@ JoAnne in PA,
After the election is over and the President re-elected.That letter needs to be sent to the DOL and the Election Commission. Attempted voter intimidation is against the law.And this needs to be addressed.
Looks like the same people who said hugo Chavez "won" argentina, are also syaing this thing isnt over. They know its not over. They plan to steal the election. Not that it matters, as the Fed is still unaudited.
from sick, paranoid minds come ridiculous paranoid thoughts. The other day there was a polling conspiracy and the polls were "gamed" by the Dems...that is of course until Mittens "won" the debate.
Republicans have no idea how stupid, ignorant, and paranoid they sound to a more enlightened consciousness.
Robert - you're talking to the walls. The far righties on this post will never understand but you're absolutely right!
Obaam/Biden 2012
Righties constantly blame the messanger!...Never ever think about the message.
It's always been puzzling to me that the Righties celebrate the unemployment of their fellow citizens.
I suppose their steady diet of lies relegates them to their low-information status.
4 more for 44! Forward!
mickrussom...Who on Earth would say that Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, won Argentina? I'm guessing you don't care about all of "them thar Mexican countries down south" enough to do even a minimal amount of research (first hint...you have to read...).
Thank you for displaying the total ignorance required to support Mitt Romney. I've totally given up the hope that there is at least one teabagger out there with one functional brain cell to represent your cause...
"Them satan wurshippin' lib-ruhls is tellin' us all that Shove-ez guy done wun Argentinnia. Darnnit they shore is stoo-pid"

Well..."rgray"...President Obama solidly supports education...something you are in desperate need of. Thank you for displaying, for all to see, how desperate the educational situation in the United States really is.
Look up in the sky!

It's a Pro-Life advocate!

spin twist and lie lib.
There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” the Republican presidential nominee told The Des Moines Register in an interview.
although he will over turn the mexico city bill that Obama overturned when he was elected that pays for foreign abortions, in other words cutting government spending , like paying for pbs, but with a added 6 trillion to the deficit who cares right
michigan northerner: it is called a Personhood Amendment. talking point debunked, because a personhood amendment is part of the republican platform, ratified during their convention. Romney knows this, and is lying to avoid the backlash that this far right wing social engineering amendment brings to the table now, but he was all aboard when having to get the religious right on his side at the convention.
And if the deficit is so concerning to you, why are you supporting a campaign whose budget (the Ryan budget, which Mr. Romney said he would sign into law day 1) would increase the deficit and wouldn't start reducing it for another 15-20 years? yeah, you really don't care about that, it is just a conservative propaganda tool to try and win the war on liberalism that you and Rush and all the other goons are participating in.
liberal (definition) :favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, especially as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties. - favoring or permitting freedom of action, especially with respect to matters of personal belief or expression: a liberal policy toward dissident artists and writers.
This nation was founded as a liberal nation, but keep on demeaning the founding fathers by trying to slur liberals...
The Mexico City policy.
The policy, dubbed the "Global Gag Rule" by abortion rights groups, was introduced by the administration of Ronald Reagan in 1984 in Mexico City, and was instituted that year. It was then overturned by President Bill Clinton in 1993 and restored by George W. Bush at the beginning of his office in 2001.
"It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortions or advocate or actively promote abortion, either here or abroad," George W. Bush wrote in a memo to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2001.
I am Pro choice but i dont think the goverment should have to pay for it. just like i think if you want to continousely spit kids out why'll on welfare you should be implanted with birth control. just my twisted views.
northerner: i don't see your views in the last paragraph as twisted, in fact i'm all for implanting all girls of menstrual age with an IUD to prevent teenage pregnancies (IUD is the birth control that my wife and i use, 99.99% effective in preventing pregnancies, and once the young lady is married and wants to have children the removal procedure is simple. If i had a daughter i'd suggest her getting an IUD the moment she was physically able to bear children, not so much to say 'it's ok to have sex', but to prevent the abortion decision in the case of rape or a bad decision). i'd be perfectly fine with welfare moms having to have an IUD insertion procedure as part of the requirements for them to get welfare (particularly the unmarried ones with multiple kids from multiple fathers). The main problem with this is that a personhood amendment bans IUDs and should the law be enacted, my wife would go to jail for life for having one. That is the extreme that the right wing is going to on this issue, and it is absurdity.
The goal of both pro-choice and anti-abortion sides should be to prevent unwanted pregnancies, and therefore lower the number of abortion procedures needed. Making the most effective form of birth control criminal will only cause the number of abortion procedures needed to go up, and with personhood amendments making having an abortion a crime, there will be more girls putting their life at risk by going to Mexico for drugs that will kill the fetus (there is a report on how this is happening more and more because of Texas' restrictive abortion laws, and the death/complication rate for those girls is frightening compared to modern abortion procedures).
i think restrictions on foreign aid are rather pointless, but i could care less where the dollars that we send other nations are put to use as long as they are not funding terrorists (i'd like to cut all foreign aid in half to help our budget problems, but can't say that would be the best thing to do at this moment in a global recession).
well stated i agree with you 100%. I did not know all the "red tape" wrapped up in the mexico city policy. The national debt kills me and the fact that people elect politicians that refuse to work to lower it. That goes for both parties I am one of them pesky independents that want the best from both parties and they can stick there agenda BS. if you know what i mean by that , i'm not to articulate being a close to 50 year old self employed who has worked construction his whole life
Northerner : i follow you completely. i'm a registered independent, and have been since the religious right pushed my non-believing behind out the door of the republican party back in '02ish. The debt is a big concern for me as well, and i'm tired of partisan politics that focus on red herrings and straw men instead of compromising to provide the most good for the most people of this country.
i think if we focused on the "liberty and justice for ALL" part of the pledge more we'd be much better off. Thanks for the civil debate! it happens far too infrequently on this site...
I'm voting for Romney, but I agree w/ Obama's campaign manager. This is far from over... too much can happen in a few weeks. Obama was crushing Romney a couple of weeks ago, and look how the tide has turned. It can easily turn back. It is VERY premature to say any side has this one in the bag!
He's being crushed because he can't hide behind his teleprompter and have a bussed in crowd to pander to during a debate. Live TV and no bull@!$%#... advantage Romney. Same will happen tonite with Biden. Paul Ryan's going to pwn Biden like the smarmy little bitch that he is.
Joe Biden won't put up with a Gish Gallop and I'm pretty sure it caught the President by surprise when mitt pulled this amateur stunt... It won't work again for either your boys...
Pathetic Tony - Mitt uses a teleprompter for all of his events - as does Ryan. Teleprompters have been used by ALL Presidents in our lifetime and all Presidential candidates. You really need to get a new whine - this is getting so old and dumb!
Obama/Biden 2012
Correction, seeking - Sarah Palin uses a Sharpie and the palm of her hand...I guess the teleprompter made her dizzy...
How does raising taxes create jobs? Obama has no answer on how to fix our problems, and can't work with those who do. He has to go.
lowering taxes hasn't created jobs in 10 years. 10 years of tax cuts, and we've lost job after job and the trickle down economic model was proven to not work.
Obama and the congress in 2009 already fixed the problem - we are no longer bleeding jobs at the rate of 700,000 per month, the stock market has rebounded to greater than before the crash. Banks are lending to qualified consumers again, and everything is pretty much back to normal in this country. right now we're seeing the effects of the slowdown in China and the Euro debt crisis affect our economy, and if the Euros weren't in the middle of the biggest austerity package in modern history the economy would be doing much better.
Trade Obama in your sentence with teapublicans, and it would be accurate. Those people have proven that they have no regard for the one thing that made this country the great nation it is: compromise.
Robert -
My counter to that would be:
How does ten years of giving tax cuts to the rich create jobs?
The answer: They don't.
Don't know about you, but I don't like when politicians like Governor Romney steal my hard-earned tax dollars and then flip me off.
I will never vote for trickle-down liars.

Sooooooo......tell me again, WHY.....oh WHY .......didn't Hussein call out Romney on all his lies?????!?!?!?????
What would be the point? When so many on the right are suffering with selective amnesia, pointing out the documented inconsistencies in Romney's policy positions is a waste of time. Libtards are not the only people who have noticed Romney's inconsistencies and reversals. John Huntsman called Romney a well lubricated weather vane....Gingrich called him an out and out liar.... Santorum repeatedly questioned his credibility in the primary debates.... Romney's difficulty with the truth just isn't news to anyone except the Republicans that participate here.
I am no Romney fan but I am aware of what he has said while on the stump and at the debate podium. If I know Romney's record surely his supporters do and yet they pretend to be unaware of his previously stated positions. Their professed ignorance of the Romney record takes their credibility to the limit. Still, it doesn't bother me that Mitt manipulates and prevaricates because that's what self righteous egoists often do. What blows me away is the willingness of so many on the right to swallow these patent misrepresentations as they lie to themselves when clearly, they know better.
Tzalarand
If the Tax cuts don't mean anything please explain why the CBO reported that if all the tax cuts expire we will lose 3.5 Million Jobs.
IF the 1%er's portion is let expire the economy will shed 700,000 jobs.
IF either of these happens are you prepared to make up the revenue lost by those jobs, because the expiring tax cuts won't.
Romney is doing a little better at campaigning, but have any of his reprehensible policy positions changed? No. Unfortunately, a lot of under-educated and under-informed people will vote against their own best interests, meaning, they will vote Republican. Don't you lower-class Republicans ever get sick of watching your Glorious Leaders transfer more wealth to the already-wealthy, while laughing at how stupid YOU are?
Archie Bunker was an Einstein compared to the current crop of the GOP biomass.
volod - WELL SAID!!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012
You sure are right SteveR. The Democrats are laughing at how stupid their supporters are.
And you think your messiah isn't laughing at you? He's pulled the biggest con of the last century! (Watch this, they'll feel guilty if they don't vote for me because I'm black.) If he wins this, the very next day he beomes a lame duck president, and I guarantee you he won't do anything for anyone in this country (not that he's done anything up til now), except to appoint cronies from Chicago and DC to cushy long-term jobs or judges' seats. Then he'll go play golf or take the family to Europe on our dime for four years while the basic infrastructure of our economy collapses. What, there are problems? Just print more money and give those idiots that voted for me a free cellphone or TV to shut them up, who knows, we may even put a few of the evil wireless companies out of business in the process! Socialism breeds complacency and laziness, people, Wake the Eff Up!
This election is indeed far from over. Many Americans are unfortunately stupid and unconscious due to their epidemic narcissism and inner wounding. Many Americans are further deluded by Christian dogma and mythology, which is dualistic and false. This is the foundation of the unexamined American mind. The average American IQ is 94, which is 28th in the world. Americans continue to regress intellectually and cognitively yet Republicans could give a fig about education as their record proves.
1 decent debate and all of sudden Romney is a contender after completely blowing his campaign. Never mind that Romney gaffed and blundered the other 99.9% of his campaign or that he was caught in no less than 50 blatant lies by factcheck.org and other truth organizations. The lower IQ Americans don't seem to care. These types identify with the party that is most closely aligned with their own psycho-spiritual dysfunction. Fear and shame based people identify as Republicans.
If some Americans want to pull the level for the character deficient Liar Romney and his partner Lyin' Ryan ...go ahead...but be warned you get what you pay for. You are the same people that voted George Dubya into 2 disastrous terms that destroyed this country. Such people have no conscience and have no clue that their electoral decisions co-create this country. They also have no clue and don't make the connection that it is they that destroyed this nation with their wrong, deluded votes for the more stupid and incompetent candidate. For a short while it appeared that the same Hitleresque Republican craziness and delusions that co-created the Bush era disasters that Obama has been fighting were active again and going to steal another election. Yet the courts have been shutting the criminal Republicans down and their attempts to rig another election.
Obama is still in the lead. Mittens "rise" is the same temporary bounce that Kerry experienced when he made mince meat out of Bush at the debates. I severely doubt that overall Americans are stupid and unconscious enough to put another Republican in the WH.
Robert, I couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, excellent analysis.
Are you so cogent because of your American education or despite it? :)
"I severely doubt that overall Americans are stupid and unconscious enough to put another Republican in the WH."
I severely disagree. Like the man said, "No one has yet gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people". IQ of 94 is no joke. Idiocracy is no longer a movie, it's a reality of this country.
Robert -
Kudos.
Well written post.
The reason whey "they" don't think so, is because "they" are told 24-7 that Democrats are to blame for their lot in life.
Nice, simplistic, guilt-free way to live your life thinking that it's always the "other" guy's fault.
That's how uneducated people think.
Salud
Well, it looks like Mitt has successfully tapped into Americans' national trait of infantile impatience. First of all, it looks like Americans, as a people, have finally placated their latent guilt about slavery by giving an opportunity to a black President, and secondly, they're really ready to snap back from all this nonsense and return to the business of America, which is making money. Mitt has sensed that and tapped into the mood. Obama hasn't. Besides, I don't think Obama wants a second term, I think Michelle and the girls are pressuring him to return home.
Boss Hogg 2012
I want Pat Paulson of the Stag party...
Will be if Obama slitheres back into the White House.
Romney = Liar. Outed by factcheck.org in more than 50 lies
Republican = the delusional party of narcissism that people with the lowest IQs and the most damaged psyches idenify with.
Republicanism is nothing but codified and politicized narcissism.
narcissism? and this from 2 liberal brain cells accidentally coming in to close proximity.
nibor - yet that is one more brain cell than you have! Imagine that!
Obama/Biden 2012
In other news: Obama expected to carry 95% black vote, 61% Hispanic vote, 92% illegal vote, 47 million of the 40 million early/absentee ballots, 17 states, 7 foreign countries, 1 radical religion, and large majority of the Muslim Brotherhood.
yeah ok go smoke some more meth and drop some more hillbilly heroin.
plus 375% of the welfare vote if you count multiple votes by the same sponge.
Number of monthly job losses from 2006-2008 when Republicans were in control of both houses of Congress from 1994-2006 and the US Presidency of Bush from 2000-2008 = 800,000 jobs per month loss for more than 24 straight months.
Number of jobs gained by President Obama = 75,000-250,000 jobs GAINED for more than 24 straight months.
Do the math. Are you going to vote for the Republican party that brought us massive job losses, the Great Recession, a $10 trillion deficit, 2 useless wars that cost $3 trillion and 1,000,000 human lives?
You would be crazy unconscious idiots if you did so and Americans would be the laughingstock of the world all over again as we were under Bush.
Yeh, It's Over
From the article above:
How true that is.
It's over for the Governor.
When it's all said and done, there simply is more people who trust President Obama over the Governor.
President Obama is well on his way to victory November 6th.

Sorry but the Dems were in control from 2006 to 2010. Queen nancy and her gang ran things. So if you are going to lie at least don't look like an idiot while doing it
Do we want to vote for a President who has increased the US debt almost double in 1 term than what Bush did while he had 2 terms. Sorry, like Clint Eastwood said: you didn't make good on your promises, time to lay you off.
Americans do Not deserve 4 more years of misery and depression. Have to vote for the other party this time since the Democrats don't have a clue how to get the economy off life support.
I am Not a Sheeple.
Look at how many times this administration has Lied to us about Libya when they knew the attack on Ambassador stevens was Al-queda and not a you tube video.
The fat lady is warming up.

ODE TO ROMNEY
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is slicker than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Lying there-under, where no one can see!
Everyone loves the king of the sea,
Ever so blithe and dodgy is he,
Tricks he will do when voters appear,
And how they laugh when Romney they hear!
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is slicker than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Lying there-under, where no one can see!
Perfect!
Thanks!
Now I have that song in my head!!
STILL WAITING ON TAX RETURNS! WHATCHA HIDIN' IN THERE ROMNEY?

O&JOE 2012
Remember folks, the presidential election is decided by the electoral college not the popular vote. There are essentially 9 swing states with the two biggest ones being Florida and Ohio. If Romney loses both its all over. If Romney wins one of the two, he would still have to win all 7 of the remaining swing states to win the presidency.
thanks genius for the high school civics lesson. what would the american populace do without you?
It sucks to hear the truth, doesn't it? LOL

Well I see the twits are posting their liberal garbage again.
Obama has no clue what he is doing and htats good in their eyes. A man comes along with the truth about him and a real plan and all they scream is Lie.
Tax returns and empty slogans. How low the Democratic party has sunk.
America needs a leader. Obama has proven he is not up to the job.
Failure is not an option. Vote change. Vote Romney
Such an eloquent post. So full of facts. So convicing.

I understand why you folks on the right would want to vote for someone like Romney and it's really very simple. You must be a putz.
The LMAO thing posted is a vote for Obama and tring to get anyone with more than six braincells to think that is a viable option.
Failed his first 4 and some like you want to give him 4 more.
What a joke.
rukididng, it worked for Junior, who managed to get reelected even after it was clear that he had put us on the path to bankruptcy. At least Obama is working to clean up your mess. Put Romney in and get back to the GOP policies that created the mess in the first place. Brilliant!
valid
Obama has done nothing to stop the bleeding of this country. He just keeps opening up more problems. You on the left need to wake up. It will take years to get back in the same shape as President Bush left it. Get a clue.
Amazing to me that you blame Bush for the mess because he did, on a smaller scale, what Obama is doing on a monster scale.
No Bush fan and certainly not a fan of our current incompetent president. Obama's total lack of understanding of economics, based on his debate performance and subsequent comments is disheartening and just plain scary.
I too have been in business and a CPA for 30 years and have no idea of what Obama is talking about on many of his economic claims.
And Obama doesn't have a clue either but this administration is very good at lying to us. These politicians work for us, not the other way around. Time to clean house and I'm talking both parties.
