ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan says he feels “good” and is “looking forward” to the only VP debate of election, taking place in Kentucky in fewer than 36 hours.
“I am looking forward to giving people a very clear choice,” Ryan told reporters during a quick stop to Old Farmer’s Creamery. “Look, Joe Biden has been on this stage many times, this is my first time so sure it is a nervous situation because Joe Biden is one of the most experienced debaters we’ve had in modern politics. But the Achilles Heel he has is President Obama’s record and I am really looking forward to giving the American people a very clear choice. “
Ryan and Biden are set to square off in Danville, Ky. on Thursday night for a 90-minute debate on issues of both domestic and foreign policy.
While Ryan has debated at least eight times in congressional settings, tomorrow night’s debate will be his first on a national stage.
Slideshow: On the campaign trail with Ryan
The stop Wednesday on the way to the airport to fly to the site of the debate wrapped up Ryan’s two-day stay in Florida where he held more debate prep sessions and meetings with staff. The warm weather was a welcome change for Ryan.
“Its great…I finally got some sun, went outside,” the Wisconsin Congressman told reporters about his trip to the Sunshine State after he ordered two scoops of moose tracks ice cream.
Ryan said he was not upset about what his running mate said Tuesday to the Des Moines Register editorial board. Romney told the newspaper “there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”
“Look, no positions have changed, our position is very consistent,” Ryan responded.
As polls continue to show the race nationally and in key battleground state’s tightening after Romney’s debate performance last week against President Barack Obama, the VP nominee said he doesn’t know how much the his lone debate versus Biden will matter.
“I don’t know but I am sure you guys will debate that one endlessly,” Ryan joked.

Did Congressman Ryan say whether or not either he or Mr. Romney would finally answer the $64,000 question...what loopholes would you close and deductions would you limit to keep your tax cuts deficit neutral?
Like Romney, Ryan is from a privileged background, college-educated on social security benefits left by his father. But when it comes to the rest of us, Ryan proposes turning Medicare into a voucher and ending Obamacare - which would end Medicaid. And he would privatize Social Security.
Ryan's position on women's reproductive rights is abhorrent.
Catholic priests and nuns are hounding Ryan about his budget, because it goes after low-income folks, disabled, children & seniors no longer working, food stamps, while continuing to roll out the Romney-Ryan welfare/work and Medicare lies.
We get it, that Paul Ryan targets folks getting by on modest means, while proposing $5Trillion in tax cuts skewed to the wealthy -- to be paid for by raising taxes on ordinary folks (or put $10 trillion on the deficit).
We realize that under the Ryan plan, Mitt Romney would pay 1% in taxes.
Deficit neutral is your concern Noid?
What prey tell has O done to even try to do this thing of which you speak?
Dude has the world record of $1Trillion deficits for all four years.
But hey - Sheriff Joe was in charge of 1. the Stimulus, and 2. protecting the middle class.
Yep, he should do great defending those in the debate.
Aww shoot Backhouse 1% is 1% more than Big Bird pays.
And yet you are ok with that, right?
WHat else you got?
Lyin' Ryan's contortions to avoid answering the loophole question would be pretty entertaining, but I fully expect a Gish Gallop from him.
TOTAL yearly cost of Big Bird is SIX HOURS of Defense spending.
= 1/100th of 1% of the budget.
Yep Backhouse.
But kinda not relevant to the fact Big Bird pulls in $50 million per year in tax free toy sales.
Oh and don't forget - $4 billion in new debt per day.
SO Backhouse - Mitt paid $2 million in taxes last year.
And you? Fair share and all. Big Bird needs a new beak
I hear Ryan is running to the debate from Wisconsin. He anticipates it will take him 1/2 hour tops! You know, kinda like his marathon time. Wow! He truly is the PERFECT running mate for Romney. My guess is they sit in a room and try to see who can tell the biggest lie!
Obama/Biden 2012
Uh, Spankers, but how about you stick with the subject for once? This is about what Mr. Romney and Congressman Ryan keep telling us.
THEY are the ones who tell us their tax cuts will be deficit neutral.
THEY are the ones telling us that they will close loopholes and limit deductions to make this possible.
THEY are the ones who will not tell us what loopholes and deductions they will close and limit to make this possible.
Regardless of my concerns, THEY are concerned with these tax cuts being deficit neutral. Why not just come out and tell us what exactly if they are supposed to be such great leaders?
If it's because they can't tell us because they don't know what specifically, that's one thing...but if it's because they can't tell us because they don't want to tell us then maybe we need to ask ourselves why they don't want us to know, don't you think?
The Romney/Ryan plan is to cut a total of $4.8 trillion from our income revenue with the 20% across the board tax cuts but he will not tell us how he will pay for it.
Their 20% tax cuts just for those making over $200,000/$250,000 totals $2.7 trillion over 10 years. Romney says he will pay for those tax cuts by closing loopholes. However there are only $1.7 trillion worth of loopholes in total that can be closed.
So where does his plan get the $1 trillion to cover the gap?
Blather sandwiches are an acquired taste.
Dear Congressman Ryan:
It's all in the MATH. Biden isn't going to allow you to fast talk some sketchy answers like you've been doing for years.
You're not as smart as the inside the beltway pundits assumed you were. They were always your audience, your supporters.
We the people are going to be listening c.a.r.e.f.u.l.l.y. To your math. To your lies.
Gee I wonder just where the deficit could have come from with the republicans being in charge with bush for 8 years. Didn't they hand over an economy that was as good as they got with low unemployment and a budget surplus looking to pay the entire deficit off in 10 years?
Or is what the republicans handed President Obama an American that was bleeding jobs and homes and people's entire life's savings and the biggest deficit in the history of our country? This is the same plan that Romney and all his rehired Bush advisors plan to do to America again.
Let's hide Bush and bring back his policies like they worked.
Could it be the unpaid for wars and tax cuts for the rich that created these deficits in the first place? You remember the deficits that Paul Ryan himself voted for.
The good old republican party, we voted and created the deficit and now it is President Obama's fault for what we did before he was elected.
Then the republicans continue on with elect us to clean up our mess that with all our obstruction President Obama could not fix fast enough for us republicans who broke America.
VOTE FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE....VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
The only consistency in the positions of Romney/Ryan is they are consistently wrong.
Backhouse said,
"Ryan proposes turning Medicare into a voucher and ending Obamacare - which would end Medicaid."
The case for Ryan’s Medicare plan
By David Brooks
From the article...
Paul Ryan wrote his own version and has come up with a more moderate version with Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat. Whenever you hear a Democrat say that Romney and Ryan would end Medicare or cost seniors $6,000, that is a misleading reference to the original Ryan plan. Romney’s plan would not shift costs to seniors.
Would a market-based approach reduce costs? A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that if Ryan-Wyden had been in place between 2006 and 2009, costs might have come down by around 9 percent with no reduction in benefits.
The Medicare drug benefit began in 2006 with a voucher approach. Costs have been about 30 percent below early estimates. A RAND Corp. study of consumer-directed high deductible plans found that when families had an incentive to monitor costs, they spent about 14 percent less.
My bottom line is this: The status quo is cataclysmic. The national debt problem is a Medicare problem. The Democrats’ price-control approach has little chance of working. The Romney-Ryan approach might work. If it doesn’t, the federal budget would suffer but seniors wouldn’t. Today’s seniors would be left untouched anyway, and tomorrow’s would have the option of private plans or traditional Medicare. At worst, if the market approach flopped, we’d be back to where we started.
Backhouse, you have no idea what you are talking about... except to keep telling a debuked, discredited talking point from the DNC, moveon.org or daily kooks...
Pathetic just pathetic
It's time to turn the page on this failed presidency...
The middle class and your children/grandchildren can't afford 4 more!!
wow, shocked that Navy is a staunch leftwing soldier. March lock step, lo righty left, by the left flank LMAO.
Lets get that band back together, you know USA for the Big Bird.
Hey libbies whats a fair share again?
So Ryan feels good about the upcoming debate. How bout G I Joe? does he even know what a debate is? does he know he's not on jupiter?
A fair share is back to the tax rate of the 70's.
What is it about the wars that brings out the fuzzy math?
Obama and his $4 trillion deficit plan using $1 trillion savings over the next ten years from winding down the wars.
Just to change the subject a bit, why if the Obama administration wasn't sure what happened in Libya, would they so readily come out and accuse this of being about a film, but now they want to hold off until they are sure what really happened? And, why after knowing it was a terrorist attack the very next day, continue for another week perpetrating the lie about the movie trailer?
Jersy Girl,
Because they watched Jon Stewart tell them they should huddle up and get their story straight.
Romney told the newspaper “there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”
“Look, no positions have changed, our position is very consistent,” Ryan responded.
Ummm, except that MYTH has changed his position on abortion 3 times in 24 hours.
Abortion is/was part of his message. We know this, but with the Republican candidate, all and any views can change in a New York second.
The Des Moines Register reported on Tuesday:
Romney held that stance for an entire day (24 solid hours), which must be a record. Wednesday on ‘CBS This Morning’:
Murphy defended Romney’s statement to “The Des Moines Register” Tuesday — he told the paper that he would not legislate on abortion. His campaign, however, quickly followed up with reporters saying Romney “would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life.”

The winning Spanky is referring to is the lead in some of the polls. Even though the polls show Romney is surging, Obama still has an electoral vote lead due to having states such as NY and CA in the bag. Its still a race and wont be decided until late Nov 6.
Spanky and our Gang is constantly at defending a pair of liars and thieves. But hey, they will go to a dry well and drink sand if they have to. Why, because they don't know the difference. And they will continue to badger and bully because that is all they know. I am not an Obama follower, I didn't vote for the man in 2008 but from all the activity and the reads that I have participated in and read, it is obvious that I will vote to re-elect Obama/Biden because I woman. I cannot in good conscience vote for Romney/Ryan because I cannot trust that they will be there for us. They are not going to protect or defend this country, they are going to rob what is left. They will never look out for the blue collar worker, or middle income person. It is all about the millionaires club and what they can do to slap the little guy down. So, when I read about all of this crap on line it clearly identifies what camp the middle income people need to be in Obama/Biden 2012.

Why wouldn't he; Joe Biden is an idiot.
The sad thing is the right wing posters think because they pay a few thousand a year in taxes Romney wasn't talking about them being free loaders. You really think those paying less than Romney spends on a hair cut in taxes means he considers you one of them like the millionaires attending his 50K a plate fund raiser? Right wingers mock those paying a few thousand in taxes when Romney pays 1 million plus but don't realise that Romney mocks them as well.
Ryan is very intelligent and has to avoid talking over the average voter's head. Biden is dumb and has to avoid sounding like it. Should be a good debate.
YAY!! I was banned on a conservative site. Must be getting to them.

Obama is president for a reason: you screwed up the country back in 2007-2009, and the lingering damage from 8 years of republic party policy made you unpopular enough to invent a fake t-bagger movement to try to convince America you were the same,.....but different. BTW: Where's George W. Bush? Where was he during your RNC convention? Why didn't your people trot out your prize thoro...
Liberals simply have no clue. Part of the reason Obama has failed so miserably is because he went to Washington with the my way or the highway mentality. To suggest the president is going to decide what loopholes are closed is liberal stupidity. This issue requires both parties sitting down and hashing out a solution, which is something Obama has never done, and it is why he failed. Congress still writes the laws and the president can only sign them. Apparently Obama never figured out the pecking order, most liberals haven't either.
well, well, well, its fine to see VP Biden again. Obama only lets him out of the closet when he is needed for crucial matters like this, and then has him apologize. we need a new president, not a shameful excuse!
We don't need a new president! We need a new House of Representatives... minus the teabaggers..

Backhouse, wow ....Ryan was priviledged because he used SS benefits from his deceased father?
The 5 trillion number has been proven not true by CCC, CNBC and even the author of the study they get that from says they are using the numbers incorrectly. But i guess if you say it enough some people will believe it.
And how would Romney pay 1% as you claim under their proposed tax plan? He pays cap gains and nowhere in their plan is a proposal to lower cap gains rate to 1%. LOL He doesn't even claim all his deductions now, meaning he is paying more than his required share under the current tax system. Where do you get 1%?
Did Biden get there early? The elevation is almost 1000 feet above sea level there. Ryan is already there so if he wins the altitude could be the reason again.
Great post, RR123!
Actually, Romney has made it clear on how he will idenitify the loopholes to be closed - you just didn't listen and, like most liberal kool-aid drinkers, you took a statement out of context. Next-President-Romney said he will work with BOTH parties in Congress to identify the loopholes; he refused to mention specifics because he knows "someone" (I believe he inferred the left-wing media) will attack him further by hyping those choices. Basically, EVERY loophole is on the block and it is up to Congress to work WITH him to decide on which ones. So, it is up to the democrats in Congress to participate in the process to close the loopholes or they will further be trashed as the party that protects itself rather than the interests of the nation.
This is all moot since Romney won't be elected anyhow..
O&JOE2012

Work with both parties? Come now. Work with both parties. That hasn't been happening now with the avalanche of filibustering you expect Etch to work with both parties.
If he is sooo afraid of the left attacking him then he should not be running in the first place because his views are 1. lacking any credible substance, or 2. lacking anything at all.
He has made things pretty clear all right.
CAN'T STOP THIS OBAMA/BIDEN TRAIN 2012
Willard gets lost on a way to a party and walk into the wrong party. While at the wrong party, he just happened to meet one of the Navy Seals who died in Benghazi. It was bad enough that Willard politicized the death of Ambassador Stevens, he thought it would be a good idea to name drop meeting the Navy Seal. Now the Navy Seal's family has told Willard to STFU and not use their son's death for political purposes. Wilard is too classless to be Commander in Chief!
huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/10/mitt-romney-glen-doherty_n_1954925.html
PS
According to Ellefsen, Doherty found his exchange with Romney to be "insincere and stale."
"Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image," Ellefsen told KIRO. "He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line ... [Doherty] said it was pathetic and comical to have the same person come up to you within only a half hour, have this person reintroduce himself to you, having absolutely no idea whatsoever that he just did this 20 minutes ago, and did not even recognize Glen's face."
Al,
Willard would dig up his own father and send him out on the stump if he thought he would earn a vote or two!
What a despicable creature this man is!
Dispicable!
And yet, he does seem to be winning.
Odd, right?
So now you belive the polls? Amazing.
Fiesty, you know meeting that Navy Seal is probably the closest anyone in Willard's entire family tree has actually come to serving in the military.
Good to know you feel good. My question is, doesn't substance matter? The role the media played in the last debate was kind of puzzling to me or is it their way of having something to talk about? That someone running for the highest office in this great land of ours will come before us all and LIE.
All of he a sudden, he's a mega star and lying becomes a virtue, something we celebrate and we say Washington is dis-functional, politician are bad how about us, our judgment, What trill's us. What do we want? Mitt did put up a show but what kind of show is another question. Perhaps, am naive.........but lying?
No, I think you are completely correct, just24.
You don't win by lying. Ever.
Thanks for posting.
Just24,
Wish I could vote for you comment 10 x's
You just hit it out of the park! ☺
Al in Visalia -
Since I know how much people on here hate seeing anything from Huffpo as a source, let's try another take on that story:
"Mitt Romney’s campaign said today he will stop citing his meeting with a
former Navy Seal killed in last month’s terror attack on the U.S. consulate in
Libya after the victim’s mother protested his use of her son’s death.
“He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to
use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” said Barbara Doherty, the mother of the slain Navy Seal Glen Doherty.
She added, “I don’t trust Romney.”
And.....
"Boston television station WHDH posted the interview with Doherty’s mother
today. But Romney re-told the story at a campaign stop just hours later in Ohio Tuesday night and again today in Mt. Vernon, Ohio."
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/10/romney-drops-seal-story-after-mother-complains/
But hey, at least Paul Ryan feels good....that's all that matters, right?
Hillary thought so in 2008 when she tried to inform people that the junior senator from Illinois was all talk and no substance.
just24, I think that's why President Obama felt he did well in the debate initially. He was standing there side by side with Romney while he spit out one lie after another.
And I guess he assumed everybody, including the media, knew it - just like he did.
He was wrong. So now the president is forced to sink down to Romney's level to make the pundits happy.
The substance was with the president that night. And he knew it.
Chef, I guess substance to republicans means lying and invading other countries who did us no harm.
The junior senator had it right.
hhhmmmmmm lying and invading other countries? Wow! Do you have an Obamaphone? What does this (see below) tell you about your great leader:
A Mexican telecom mogul who holds the title of world's richest man and one of President Obama's top donors are both getting even richer from the U.S. government program that supplies so-called "Obamaphones" to the poor.
The above mogul is Carlos Slim -- one of BO TOP donors -- I don't think BO will have any trouble "sinking down", he sets the bar for lying.
WOW!
How about a link for your previously debunked bull@!$%#?
Gawd you people are scary!
And yet, he does seem to be winning. Odd, right?
Yeah, that pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell, Spanks. The guy spins one set of tales to get the nomination because half of his own party despises him. Then once he gets the nomination, he throws his "severely conservative" friends who got him there under the bus in favor of his new BFF's, the moderate independents. He calls 47% of the country lazy parasites living off their government checks when he's in front of his big-money donors - and gets all of you to back him up on it - and then a week later tries to claim he was "completely wrong" in what he said. (I notice none of you are agreeing with him about THAT, though). He insults his own wife by saying he doesn't want people to "get tired of her". And then he takes the death of a young American he met once by accident and exploits it shamelessly for political gain (and I notice you're not complaining about that either).
But hey.....he's "winning". Just like Charlie Sheen, man. Winning.....
Obama won in 2008 by lying and now he is trying to do it again. Pointing a finger the other way and name calling to distract from his horrible record, doesn't take away from the fact that Obama lies big time.
At the Mother's request, Romney should stop using his meeting of the Seal for his petty, political gain.
By the way, Obama using the Big bird ad for political gain is pretty silly, but in no way matches what Mitt is doing. Romney using the Seal for political gain; especially without the request of the mother and family is awfully low.
Will anyone of the so called "Liberal media" report on this? Will they put the GOP congressmen's quote about cutting embassy funding on a loop. I doubt it; they will still be inspired and glowing from Romney's specific free, truth adverse, spirit filled, good postured, debate performance.
The Media has set these stories on a loop...Their producers have set the agenda to get ratings and make this race close.
1. Romney had a good debate don't mention lack of specifics and questionable facts.
2. Romney had a good debate don't mention he flip flopped on many of his core policies.
3. Obama had a bad debate, it is time for Obama to panic.
4. There should be no mention of an improving job recovery because Romney had a good debate.
5. Must continue to show fire and bombed out Benghazi safe house on a loop.
6. Must refuse to speak about voter supression tactics in Ohio, Florida, Colorado. Remember there is no GOP voter shenanigans by RNC funded organizations.
7. Obama must be questioned and fact checked on everything, to keep him honest, but R and R can run free and loose with what their policies will do to America.
Regarding the Libya investigation it is a worthy undertaking. We should find out what happened and learn from mistakes to better safeguard other embassies. However, it should be pointed out that there is not a coverup; case in point, the admin's support and testimony that is taking place in hearings right now.
I remember it took the Bush administration months and months and months of denying an investigation for the 9/11 attacks. I remember it took years later until a Democratic house instituted the 9/11 commission suggestions. I also remember that after the 9/11 attacks, Congressmen D and R rose their voices in song on the Capitol steps to support the GOP administration. Unfortunately, when the shoes on the other foot, the GOP raise their voices in rage and hatred at the Dem. administration.
Yellowdog,
It has been reported that Romney had discontinued the story, per the mothers request.
just24,
No, substance does not matter one whit. It didn't in 2008. It won't in 2012 either. Neither of the two losers running has an ounce of integrity or sincerity.
This republic is rotten to its foundation. Our President is an amateur, a pretty face who spouts pretty words, but who is not nearly as intelligent as he's made out to be. He is neither quick-witted nor insightful, just another narcissist like many others before him. Our congress is populated with scoundrels, crooks, and slackers. Our supreme court justices do not even feign political impartiality. We have Thomas on the right who never had a thought that Scalia didn't feed him, and Sotomayor and Kagan swilling down the American-hating koolaid that Ginsburg serves up regularly.
No, substance is out of style. And I think it's time to take the country out of the oven because no matter which of these feckless dopes wins, we're done.
So when CNN and CNBC look at Obamas 5 trillion claim numbers and say they aren't true that is good on the truth meter for Obama. Even the guy that did the study where they get that 5 Trillion number says they are quoting his study incorrectly. Even the CNN, CNBC and the Author tell him he is incorrect BO still spouts those same numbers. So does that make Obama dispicable too as he is knowingly lying about that number, per the author?
This defines the term;
"Slow news day"...
(My "avatar" died)
I think it defines "avoid the news" day....as in "let's pretend there's no hearings going on and that Hussein did not lie and cover up what he knew about the Benghazi TERRORIST attacks."
There's a hearing about the murder of Amb. Stevens today?
Huh. First Read, you all hear anything about that?
Where is Hillary?
Why do Republcans always have to politicise those who die in the line of duty?
It is the job of the opposition party to challenge the sitting administration and it is only right that they should do so.
Whether or not the challenges have merit, or are purely political is the question presented to the body politic.
Ideologues never have any trouble deciding where they stand.
How something that happened a month ago and has been reported on every day since, and now even has ongoing congressional hearings can be called a "cover-up" by anyone who can look up the definition on the same computer they typed their comment on, I leave to the group to ponder...I will be awarding the author in my own style...
Yeah, really, First Read - why no coverage of how proud some Republicans are about voting to cut funding for embassy security? I mean, we've got "priorities", right?
http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/10/rep-chaffetz-says-he-absolutely-cut-funding-for-embassy-security/
This will blow a hole in the conspiracy theory no jo is blathering on about, JoAnne!
While some here are calling for us to discuss today's congressional dog and pony show while not owning up to the lies and wives tales they previously posted about the ambassador getting sodomized and dragged through the streets of Benghazi. While I believe the person who posted that was only repeating something he read or heard elsewhere, it still is a lie and he should set the record straight.
Yeah...no...NBC wants nothing to do with the hearings today, do they?
usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/10/14343052-diplomatic-security-in-libya-weak-before-attack-former-leader-of-protection-team-testifies?lite
So the Liberals don't care as to how our Ambassador died, why there wasn't enough security provided and why it was denied? BTW, The State Department admitted they had enough revenues alloted to provide additional security.
This is classic, now they are blaming the cuts. All day I hear people complaining about the cost of defense, and that cuts are necessary.
The House Democrats started off the hearing by attacking the Republicans for the cuts made to embassy security. What they failed to mentioned was that the cuts would not have been possible without the support of Democrats in the house. Democrats 149, Republicans 147.
thetotas-
based on your post they would seem to be equally at fault and should be ashamed to be trading BS accusations that only amount to closing the barn door after the horses have gone...I find that difficult to believe from our honest and hard working representatives.
I think President Bush called it the "Blame game", but it has become the congressional (if not the sigh, National) pastime...
Our congress has lost the ability to "Play Ball!" on anything that we elected them to do.
I see Boehner and Pelosi holding hands as one hits the accelerator and they (and the whole country) head towards that "Thelma and Louise" financial cliff in around 10 short weeks...
Yes dangerfield, politics suck, its dirty and never quite simple. As for the blame game, we surely know its nothing new. National pastime? Global pastime with any represenative government. Could be worse, ancient rome was littered with bribery (in fact an acceptable form of practice, excess and flagrant bribery was a no no). I think the fiscal cliff is just a game of chicken. I think it will get resolved with tax extensions, but who caves. I could be wrong though I dont have a crystal ball.
and Yes American citizens are the 'unintended victims' of their games.
Caesar,
Of course they will do SOMETHING, but not until they absolutely have to and even then it will be half-measures that will expire or be subject to the same game again.
If the red team and the blue team could only see that often the "differences" are manufactured and that (forgive the pun) the House (of representatives) always wins, maybe Simpson-Bowles or a similar BI-PARTISAN plan would stand a chance.
But, as a fan of Suetonius, I sincerely doubt it...
agreed. its always a shell game, its only a matter of time before more will be expected. history repeats itself.
ye have little faith, I think it will happen. Its their density dangerfield. That or we end up like Greece.
Suetonius had it good in the Pax Romana, except for Domitian.
Caesar-
"...It is their density dangerfield"
Freudian slip?
That is the problem, their DENSITY. that our destiny is truly in their hands is sort of terrifying isn't it?
----------------------------------------------
The Greece comparisons aren't apt IMO, their culture and ours, in particular their relationship with the idea of taxation and their central government, are almost alien to each other. I love the Greek Isles, and the people, but their golden age of governance WAS the "Golden Age"
As someone said;
"Well, they created modern society, why shouldn't they be the ones to bring it down"
As concerns Suetonius, I prefer him to Tacitus and Josephus, as he is far more sarcastic and gossipy;
"Julius Caesar (no offense) was every woman's man and every man's woman"
Have a pleasant evening...
"...It is their density dangerfield"
Freudian slip?
nope, not Freudian at all, it was a reference to back to the future
no offense to me, besides Caesar Augustus was Octavian. Yeah Caesar was never able to let down the 'Queen of Bithynia' label.
Hey biden....explain why BOZOhussen went all over telling everyone that a youtube video killed the USA embassy people in the Middle-East??...Even Over-the-Hill'ry says it was Muslim-Terrorists!!
Even the Prez. of Libya says it was not the video!! .. Jimmy Carter did nOT have the embassy people murdered!! but then they had Marines...The cables from the embassy asking for security are being hidden with the rest of obama's records!!
What a liar and incompetent leader we have..OMG===ObamaMustGOooo!!
He even stood before the UN and belittled our Constitution and 1 st Amendment rights!!
Obama/Big Bird 2012!
Because serious Times call for serious leaders.
Of course we care, however we don't use such tragedies to place blame but hope our government puts something in place to prevent recurrences. We didn't blame Reagan when 299 Marines were blown up in Lebanon or sailors killed on the Cole or when 9-11 happened and it turned out the Bush administration had ignored warnings from flight schools that men of middle eastern descent were training to fly air craft but weren't concerned with learning how to land. Maybe we're just better Americans wanting to support our president whoever he is rather than use every tragedy to make it a personal failure of his.
I just do not BELIEVE the amount of poisonious blather on this vine, can we have a REAL discussion, rather than all the POINTLESS, JUVENILE name calling? Why, when someone has a different opinion from someone else, do they have to call each other names? I understand being PASSIONATE, and supporting your candidate, but PLEASE at least TRY being CIVIL. I know that there are some people out there, who have a bit of a grudge for one another, and I must admit I have read some pretty stupid, and uninformed comments myself. But let's all at least TRY and be adults. That being said, I watched the interview today on CNN with Republican/Tea Party Rep. Jason Chaffetz, and I was thoroughly disgusted! Not providing the STATE DEPT. with funding for extra security, because he did'nt think it was a PRIORITY?! I was appalled, to say the least, and we wonder why our Diplomats are dying. The House KNOWS that our Embassies in the middle east need extra security, and that the host country CANNOT ALWAYS provide all that may be needed. Mr. Chaffetz, you are not a very caring person, and you certainly don't represent the people of your district, one of whom I happen to be, and there are plenty more here who would agree with me. It really makes me ill that there were people willing to believe your B.S., and elected you to represent us in Washington, because I certainly DID NOT vote for you!
It sounds like Ryan knows not to take Biden lightly. Although seriously gaffe-prone, Biden has debated before and debated well. But, in the end, people vote for the president, not the VP. This debate is just a "bump in the road" for the presidential candidates.
Biden will be debating the flawed policies the Republicans are planning. He would debate Ryan on the details, but they don't exist. I guess they are just too hard for Ryan to explain.
They'll both probably be watching the baseball playoffs on their smartphones...
It amazes me that Liberals will claim that no policies have been spelled out, but give a pass to the President who never lays out a single plan. Obama just talks in circles.
Jersey girl- what was the Jobs Bill outlined a year ago. Do you read any of his state of the union speeches where he outlines his plans.
Brriefly they are to create a public-private infrastructure bank so we can improve roads, bridges, airports, electric transmissiion lines, etc. Interest rates are at all time historic lows- so we could borrow the money on a 30 year note and build- oh by doing this we also lower the unemployment.
The Jobs Bills was estimated by the cbo and many reputable economists as if implemented would have lowered unemployment by 1% minimum.
Oh and if we solve the unemployment problem about 60% of the deficit goes away. Oh, and the best time in solving the deficit problem is when the economy is healthy- as has been proven in Europe cuts in govt spending increases unemployment. But heck- just ask a teacher or a cop or a fireman and they can confirm that cuts to govt spending spill over to the economy.
I look forward to your rejoinder
The more tax money that comes in, the more the progressives feel they can spend. The deficit wont go down with more tax revenue, its just more money the Obama/progressives get to spend. That needs to stop.
Oscar and Big Bird.... Bump in the road is a term that is haunting the lack luster president right now!!!!Lmao
Raffthegreat- can you please name me one country that has used your deficit reduction first program where it has worked? Please just one.......
you cant because it doesnt. Have you ever heard of the term velosity of money? its like in chapter three of most economic text books- it can help explain how the govt injecting a dollar in the economy increases activity.
Lean forward- I know Romney is going to reduce tax rates and reduce deductions and loopholes and other then Big Bird(accounts for like 1/1000 of the deficit) no one will ever lose any deductions they like. Why even on medicare if over 55 wont affect you and under 55 join if you want. Let the healthy seniors get lower priced private insurance leaving all the sick and ill on the program and guess what- the program cannot be sustained. They know it, they hope you dont. Isnt that why the mandate was needed in Romney's and Obama's health care plans? It's called a death spiral in the insurance industry.
Well, to be frank, Ive never taken any economics classes, although I will be soon. But Im not taking financial or economic lessons from someone who cant spell "velocity".
I also never said that deficit reduction first was the way to go, I just simply stated that if the government got more revenue in taxes, they wouldnt even attempt to pay down our deficit. Typical dem response, stop putting words in my mouth.
Romney did practice debates for 2 weeks fielding every possible question and answering in a way that basically denied anything that would have a negative impact even though posted on his website. If Ryan does the same he'll be tough. Hopefully Obama and Biden learned from Romney's example.
Raffthe: No Longer Great
..."The more tax money that comes in, the more the progressives feel they can spend. The deficit wont go down with more tax revenue, its just more money the Obama/progressives get to spend. That needs to stop"...
The Obama administration proposed a 2.5 to 1 ratio of SPENDING CUTS to Revenue increases! Republicans including Paul (I "FAKE" want to lower the deficit) Ryan walked away from it. Your argument is debunked! Go home.
Obama/Biden 2012
I can see now how this debate will go:
Ryan will say something like, “In this generation, a defining responsibility of government is to steer our nation clear of a debt crisis while there is still time.”
Biden will say something like, “Yeah, well you're nothing but a poopy-head!”
NBC will then say something like, “Biden simply destroyed Ryan with his superior intelligence and logic!”
BAHAHAHA!! good job.
Interesting. The right only attacks the perception of a media slant when there is the slightest hint/possibility that it will not go in their favor. For example the latest jobs figures. Almost immediately after its release there was a war cry sent out headed by Fox that it had to be a conspiracy. Here Kannin, appears to be doing the same thing, well in advance of the debate in question. If perchance, his delegate has a poor showing then he/she is already planting the seeds that any such outcome could only be the result of a left winged conspiracy. To me, this is yet another defining differerance between the Democtrats and the newly redefined and constantly rearranging Republican/Tea Party affiliates.
To put it plainly, as much as you might wish it so, we are not out to get you. Sometimes it's simply a matter of of someone having a bad night, as did President Obama last week. He's human, it happens. Who do I blame? Why President Obama himself of course. He wasn't nearly as prepared as he should have been. Mitt Romney, as much as I am in opposition to his campaign, simply performed better. But here's the thing, one bad performance does not change months and months of a forming opinion to choose one candidate over another. Despite the first debate I stand, as ever, firmly on Obama's side. No one night should have the power to change such a vital decision. Unfortunately, there are far too many people who are just now beginning to pay attention to the race and perhaps they did make a decision based on that one night. Or others who were on on the fence used it as a tipping point to Romney's side. This is my thinking to explain the bounce in polls.
Because you see, Democrat's, for the most part, aren't afraid of polls that don't go their way. It just means that we have to work harder, and we will, trust me, because we know exactly what is at stake. Romney (and see how I find no need to use a derogatory derivative of his name), might be a good person, but he is entirely wrong for this country. I have watched this man for much more than a single night, take every stand possible on every position, only to switch it around again whenever the wind blew in a new direction. A man that willing to sell his soul to the highest bidder should never have the responsibility of a nation to uphold.
So again, we know what happened last week was bad. But in the long run, it isn't the end. We aren't afraid to tell our candidate when he messed up. Did you happen to see the post debate discussion on MSNBC? I did.
I watched and listened to Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Rev Al Sharpton, Lawrence O'Donnell, and others firmly established as far left, rightly reaming the President's performance as the disappointment it was. I, also as a proud liberal was saying the exact same thing. I even went so far as to describe it as a train wreck to one of my co-workers.
Maybe if FOX and other right wing media didn't find the need to compensate for every misstep Romney and Ryan have made in their campaign with outlandish, made-up conspiracy theories, then perhaps your own followers would realize just how unfit they are for the job. I am sorry, but the blustering that is spewed day after day about poll tampering and bias, reminds me of parents who coddle their child from birth, reinforcing that nothing they ever do is their fault, and then wonder why at adulthood that same child is totally unprepared to stand on its own two feet. It is time to take the training wheels off. Let your candidate stand on his own two feet, without your propaganda to explain away every one of his faults. Then if indeed, he is the right choice, let the people can decide on their own.
I believe that Beiden and Obama will make up ground in their future debates, and if not, I will concede the debates to their rightful winners, even if it is the other side. But in the end this election belongs to Obama, because he is simply the right man for the job.
I apologize for my multiple spelling errors on the above post. I did not proof it as well as I should.
My satire is well-founded. Scholarly studies all show a strong liberal bias. For example:
A study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy has found that the media coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign was more likely to be spun in a positive manner toward Democrats than Republicans.
“Overall, Democrats received more positive coverage than Republicans (35 percent of stories versus 26 percent), while Republicans received more negative coverage than Democrats (35 percent versus 26 percent),” the study said.
Mr. Obama was the media darling: 47 percent of the stories about him were positive, compared with 27 percent for Mrs. Clinton. Mr. McCain got the most press abuse. Just 12 percent of the stories about him were positive in tone.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2007/oct/29/slant32seen-in3208-race32coverage/
Another study, “A Measure of Media Bias” (by Tim Groseclose, Department of Political Science, UCLA; and Jeff Milyo, Department of Economics, University of Missouri) names names:
“Our results show a strong liberal bias. All of the news outlets except Fox News’ Special Report and the Washington Times received a score to the left of the average member of Congress. Consistent with many conservative critics, CBS Evening News and the New York Times received a score far left of center. Outlets such as the Washington Post, USA Today, NPR’s Morning Edition, NBC’s Nightly News and ABC’s World News Tonight were moderately left. The most centrist outlets (but still left-leaning) by our measure were the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, CNN’s NewsNight with Aaron Brown, and ABC’s Good Morning America. Fox News’ Special Report, while right of center, was closer to the center than any of the three major networks’ evening news broadcasts. All of our findings refer strictly to the news stories of the outlets. That is, we omitted editorials, book reviews, and letters to the editor from our sample.”
http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/polisci/faculty/groseclose/Media.Bias.8.htm
I would agree in so far as there are strong indicators of bias occurring on each side, both Liberal and Conservative. However, I disagree when it comes to substance, because when you delve deeper into intent and volume, you will find that the two paths (right and left) are dramatically in juxtaposition. And they've been that way virtually from day 1 (and earlier) of Obama's leadership.
In my opinion, this election has been like no other, and I believe that a majority of you might feel the same. I am not afraid to say that I was one of those many voters deeply in tune with President Obama's projected path to the White House in 2008. Through the many months of his first term campaign I found myself captivated by the messages and ideas this man had to share of what he envisioned, if implemented, could lead us all out of a faltering economy, as well as two unpopular wars, and into a brighter stronger America.
Did he keep all his promises, certainly not. And of course, the right would immediately brand this acknowledgement I just made as proof positive that Obama failed to deliver. Case closed. Non-delivery in turn, equates failure. But it just isn't so. To this day I firmly believe that Obama did everything he could to deliver on each and every one of those promises. But before he was even given a chance to bring his plans into fruition, he ran into what could be considered the biggest, unbreakable wall of deliberate uncooperation and opposition, hitherto known Not from outside, but from within.
Is there anyone here who denies that these premeditated actions even occurred? Such as the strategy meeting that took place on January 20th, 2009, on the day of Obama's inauguration, as related in the book Do Not Ask What Good We Do by Robert Draper. In attendance, among others was: Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Jim DiMint, and Jon Kyl. Here they strategized that because of Obama's popularity they would have to would have to discredit him in another way. Ultimately they all agreed that the only way they could bring him down was to challenge every single bill or campaign. This then is the first truly verifiable conspiracy that was set into play that day by the Republicans in attendance. And it was conceived and sworn into play on President Obama's very first day in office.
What possible reason could they have had, in all good faith, to have orchestrated such a derisive plan that was so blatantly not in the best interests of their constituents, or the entire nation? What act of malfeasance could Obama possibly have committed on his first day in office to garner this sort of open disrespect and intentional sabotage? They plotted his downfall from day one. And then set about disparaging his background as well, letting loose a barrage of key words meant to stir the pot. Words like birther, un-American, a foreigner, a muslim, etc. every conceivable way to besmirch his character has made the rounds, and now, nearly at the end of his first term, its still happening!
Moving ahead further into Obama's first year in office we see South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson (r) shouting out: "You lie!" during a televised speech Obama made on healthcare. Plain on Wilson's face was the utter contempt and outright hatred he felt for our President. And not one Republican, to my knowledge, has ever spoken on record denouncing their fellow Republican's disgraceful behavior.
Here is probably the most recognizable quote made by Mitch McConnell: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one term president. This was made less than two years into President Obama's first term. And yet so many Republicans and TeaPartiers have complained ad nauseum about how Obama has never made an effort to reach across the aisle to work together with them. How facetious this assertion is, how utterly unwarranted. Obama bent over backwards to bring both sides to a meeting point where there could be genuine back and forth debate on the many issues of the day. It is the Republicans that would have none of it. They refused, and then broadcasted their intent to not only keep on obstructing, but to bring it to a level completely out of the realm of imagination.
They would not cooperate on the debt ceiling debacle, more than willing to not only shut the government down, but destroy our nation's credit rating as well. Then in a near majority, they signed the pledge of an outside lobbyist, never under any circumstances to ever raise taxes. Grover Norquist has no business having a deciding say in any of these matters, as he is not even an elected official. In this fashion the Republicans have systimatically removed virtually all of their chips off the bargaining table. Compromise no longer registers as a word in their circles anymore. The same is true of the Koch Brothers, Donald Trump, and the rest. Why is it that their money allows them direct access to both incumbents and those running for office, a privilidge that is unheard of to the common every day voter.
And now the airwaves are bombarded by Republicsn attack ads, largely paid for by large dollar Pacs with outside interests, and anonymous muli million and billionaire donors, courtesy of Citizen's United. Attack ads that proclaim out of context incidiary quotes, and in many cases, just outright falsehoods that have already been debunked previously, but are repeated nonetheless.
What I've said above is only the tip of the iceberg on Republican campaign mishandling and deceit. There is nothing that is considered too low in their minds when it comes to winning this race. The collective conscience of the right wing has either decided to turn a blind eye to this ongoing travesty, or else has completely lost all perspective of right and wrong.
I often wonder just how good it could have been, if only the Republican's/Tea Partier's had taken a different route during that meeting back in January 2009. If they'd simply pledged to the people instead, to work together. So much progress would have been made by now. When Obama made those promises in 2008, he believed it was truly possible, as did everyone else who voted him into office. And, there was really only one reason why he wasn't 100 percent successful, and it's because no one, Obama included, could have foreseen the right's deliberate refusal to work in a bipartisan fashion to get the job done. And then to take it further yet with open disrespect, name calling, and certainly callous and unprofessional behavior. Our government was set up to work together, so that we all might succeed. Without it we fail.
Just like when Barry became a "mega star" with that HOPE and CHANGE LIE he told back in 08. Unfortunately for him, there all lots of folks out there that remember that one...sucks when you have record to run on and a pathetic one at that.
BARRY/BIDEN/BIG BIRD 2012
Let's not forget all the people who thought Obama was going to give them a free house.
JERSY GIRL - only the ignorant low information voters of the far right would believe anyone was going to give them a free home. But, I'm sure you're falling for ALL of Romney's lies.
Obama/Biden 2012
Kannin...you got it...the spin the LIB TARDS put on this one is going to "EPIC"..I predict more amusing than watching "JOEY GAFFE" soil his undies on stage....
JERSY GIRL 1
Jersey - It is actually a person that lives in South Florida and she has a name. Now we have another lady saying vote for Obama and get a free cell and free stuff.
President Obama has time for big bird but not to talk about the issues. I guess he is hoping that Big Bird lays a golden egg for them.
And the Libya hearings go on. Did any of the Libs in FR listem to them. At best someone screw this one big time.
SeekingInsanity - This person happens to be a democrat and like I say she has a name and I would not call her ignorant or any name. You might be called racist. Google it girlfriend, you are wrong again.
smitty- yeah I know what you mean. Why on Sunday Ryan said he didnt have enough time to fully explain how the Romney Budget would be funded. I can hear Joe now offering his two minutes of time to make sure that Young "smart" Ryan had all the time needed to tell us all as the "intellectual Leader" of the Republicon party exactly how a 20% reduction in tax rates will not violate Romneys Number One Principle of not adding to the deficit.
Tell me, is JOEY "GAFFE" the intellectual leader of the democratic party? I think we should ask Barry that question.......HA HA HA.
The 99% American People concede, the corrupt Republican political puppets are the best BULL$HITTERS of all! They talk a good game and then stick it to you! It's their way of life! LIE, CHEAT & STEAL from the 99% American People! They love it!!
They WANT IT ALL! So, let's give it to them! 99% American People VOTE & vote 100% STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC and let's rid our selves of their BLATANT CRIMINAL CORRUPTION once & FOREVER!! The lives you save WILL be YOURS & your CHILDREN! BELIEVE IT, NOTHING COULD BE MORE TRUE!!
Similar to what MLK said, "we, the 99% American People, shall overcome their corruption"!
You do know that MLK was a registered Republican, right?
And, the NAACP was started by a republican and the KKK was started by southern Democrats....funny how that got lost in the shuffle...
TR, Rose, Go cash your welfare check and have a drink on me.lol
I care as much about how Ryan feels as he does about how I feel. I think the same thing about Romney, Obama and Biden. On a side note I feel exactly the same way about my congressman. I have decided to treat them like they treat me. I am going to email them messages about what I am doing and how bad my opponents are and then every two to four years I am going to ask them for money. I cannot believe that people on one side lock in on the lies of the other side and accept no guilt or blame for the current mess we are in. Nice work if you can get it.
Tell exlax ETCH-A-SKETCH'S boyfriend "president", religious HYPOCRITE, LIAR, GUNSLINGER, BULL$HITTER, MAMA'S BOY Ryan, we, the 99% American People, feel good about the DEBATE, but we feel MUCH BETTER ABOUT THE COMING ELECTION!
99% American People, VOTE & vote 100% STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC and let's rid our selves of this WHITE-COLLAR TRASH once & FOREVER!
Wow dude, take a chill pill or go smoke a fatty and come back when your panties arent in such a wad.
Dont speak for the 99% because the 99% dont share your viewpoint. I would say about 40% - 45% do. You are misrepresenting people like me and that needs to stop. Just vote your OWN conscience on Nov 6th and let everyone else do the same.
The progressive philosophy - "You are free to believe what you want, unless it differs from what we believe."
Tr Rose, need those checks to keep coming do ya???Lmao
romney has a plan to plan out a plan that will be planned around an even greater plan, so then plans that have already been planned will have to be replanned out due to his plan being so well planned.... Details to come...
Better than no plan from Dumboma!!!!lol
It should be a slam dunk for Ryan. besides the fact that Biden with open mouth and insert foot, theres really no way of defending the economy when they had Control over the whole government, "house and senate" and didnt accomplish anything but pushing Obamacare down our throats. It shows what was really important to them and it wasnt the economy obviously.
heres a rundown:
This may better "connect the dots" for those of us that get overwhelmed with those huge numbers. SS
This rather brilliantly cuts thru all the political doublespeak we get from Obama and his henchmen.
It puts it into a much better perspective.
Lesson # 1:
U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Total budget cuts so far: $3.85
Got It ?????
OK, now Lesson # 2: Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:
Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.
What do you think you should do ......
Raise the ceilings, or pump out the crap?
its time to flush the turds out of the white house
Your choice is coming November 6, 2012
The demadumbs a still to stupid to figure it out..Lol
Yea your right. They dance around these numbers and want you to think spending our way out of this debt is the only way. Ryan is a smart guy. I am not saying that I agree with everything the man says but I trust Romney choosing one of the most brilliant men to go to war with him to fix this crap. I mean come on, Obumer picked Biden...WTF does he bring to the table really?
all american- dont know how to tell you this but a country is run differently then a household budget.
During wwII out debt was higher then our total GNP yet in 1945 how was the economy. When was the next recession caused by this massive debt?
all american -
That he is actually dumber than Obama?
The one thing we know for sure is that President Obama's taxing and spending is anything but deficit neutral!!!
Biden is going to be more stymied than his boss stymie was in his debate.
Biden will tell the commentator (Ref) that Ryan will put him in chains. I cant wait...this dumb ars is going to say something so stupid its going to be priceless and down right magical. Biden will hand it over on a silver platter to Ryan
all american jims- just for the record Biden tends to hold his own on debates. Its when he is in front of a friendly crowd that he tends to insert foot in mouth.
make you a willard style $10,000 little wager that Ryan is the one stymied- first off what plan is he to defend and explain. Why even on Sunday he was stymied when asked for details- takes too long to explain. Cant wait for Biden to offer his two minutes to give Ryan the time needed
Anybody wannna bet that biden is drunk???!!! NO takes, huh?!!
What a laughable group of bafoones!!! OMG==ObamaMustGOOoo!!!!
Most people didn't know about this debate until after it was over.
Today's story about Obama's gold ring is really bothering me, more than this debate run up. If the story is true, it means that our President has been practicing Taqiyya for a very long time. It would call into question the content of his character, since he has told us for a very long time that he is a practicing Christian. The fact that he is a Muslim wouldn't bother me but having been lied to over the years would bother me. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character". I have sometimes questioned the content of Obama's character based on misleading and downright wrong statements he makes. It often seems that he says the other guy is doing something terrible (that isn't being done) and then he turns around and does the terrible thing himself. If this ring thing is true, then I think he should be stricken from the list of US Presidents.
Hussein told some pre schoolers he would save elmo, oscar and big bird, then for christmas buy every kid in America a pony with an i phone.
caviarnketchup you are retarded for sure!
These too stupid for words liberals can't stop posting the same tired old, and I mean OLD, idiotic talking points. No sense trying to reason with stupid people. Like the jackhole that posted the EC count on realclearpolitics. What he failed to mention was Wisconsin and Pennsylvania ( and soon Michigan ) have been taken from Obama and placed in the toss-up catagory. Obie's EC count is going down faster than Michelle in the dorms in college.
then please explain why as of this am Romney had pulled ads from PA and Michigan?
last week it was a conspiracy on the polls. This week you love them.
next week it will be back to Obama ahead- know why- Romney version 9.0 is like 8 versions too many.
But then when brains were handed out your side thinks they were first in line- too bad it was the wrong line- no one told ya and you guys havent realized it yet.
Name calling is what you guys do so well thats the reason for my dig. Hell I know some of you guys got brains its just figuring out which ones.
demtothebone.....guess you can't read very well. I said I don't argue with stupid people. Maybe watch some Sesemee Street while you still have the chance.
demtothebone.....I've tried to take the high road here numerous times to no avail. Logic doesn't work. Facts don't work. Conventional wisdom doesn't work. All that's left is to point out the lunacy and throw out some insults. Works for me.
Beauty is only skin deep But STUPID is (DEM) to the bone.
Of course Paul Ryan feels good about it. He's going to rip 'Uncle Joe' a new one. (The old one is all wrinkled up anyway).
Can't wait for the VP debate.
Erskine Bowles, co-chair of President Barack Obama's budget-deficit commission had this to say of Paul Ryan.
"I always thought that I was okay with arithmetic. [Paul] can run circles around me, and he is honest, he is straightforward, he is sincere. And the budget that he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan. It is a sensible, straightforward, honest, serious budget and it cut the budget deficit just like we did, by $4 trillion...”
“ The President came out with his own plan and the President, as you remember, came out with a budget, and I don't think anybody took that budget very seriously. The Senate voted against it 97 to nothing.”
“He, therefore, after a lot of pressure from folks like me, he came out with a new budget framework, and in that new budget framework, he cut the budget deficit by $4 trillion over 12 years. And, to be candid, this $4 trillion cut was very heavily back-end loaded. So, if you looked at it on a 10-year basis and compared apples-to-apples, it really was about a two and a half trillion dollar cut."
And that's a democrat saying good things about a republican.
AND THAT'S A $1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR LIE THAT'S ON OBAMA.
If Mitt and Ryan win, they won't raise your taxes. They'll cut funding for "entitlement" programs and turn that job over to individual states. They won't raise your taxes but I bet your state will! The states will, in time, susidize these programs through revenue gained in increased taxation: personal, property, sales, excise tax and add new taxes. States that don't currently tax SSI and pensions will find these a great resource for revenue. Deep cuts in Federal programs will hit the wallet of middle and low income earners no matter which state you're from. If elected, Mitt's new Motto will be "I didn't raise your taxes, talk to the folks running your state."
It is easier for the voters to control spending in their states and local cities than the Federal Government. It sounds like to want to keep sending your tax dollars to the feds and then have the feds tell you how much they will give you but only if you spend it like the federal government says.
@ Economics1: That's right. He will create a model close to what he did in Mass. Fees for everything skyrocketed. Did you know that he raised fees 8 times for birth certificates? Yes, 8 times. Sure, that man really is pro-life up until it is out of the womb and is part of society. Then, adios amigos, you are a drain on society, you are on your own. His math does not add up with what he says he wants to do. I don't see how he says he can cut taxes across the board 20% and balance the budget. He says he will close loopholes in the tax system, but he doesn't say what. He says he wants to raise the defense budget! Gee, are we prepping for another war? This is going to be very very bad if this man gets elected.
You are right @sfcret. States do have more control but some states are "wealthier" than others for bearing the burden. There is a lot of waste in the government. Stop sending our money out of the country. Stop creating wars costing us 4 trillion dollars. Mitt needs to lay out his plan because it doesn't add up. He's lying by telling the middle and lower classes their taxes won't go up.
Economics1 - There is one thing for sure and that is the middle class will see a tax increase under Obama. Where is Obama's plan for jobs and the economy, the Democrats keep asking what is Romney's plan but I don't see them presenting Obama's plan, could it be that Obama doesn't have one except to raise taxes on the so called millionaires and billions (which means those making $200K plus if single and $250K plus for married couples).
I have not heard Obama say anything about revising the tax codes, yet Romney has. Obama has had his chance to turn the economy around and has failed, I have said numerous times that I don't know if Romney can get the job done, but I do know that Obama couldn't. Time for a change.
We need to keep more of our tax dollars in our states and local communities, where the people have more of a say. Bigger federal government is not the answer, they are the major problem.
Joe the slow schmoe, can't wait to see this. Definition of schmoe= dull, stupid or boring person.
I guess you would know.
If Ryan feels good going into this debate he must have his ducks in a row. Opps no he has his lies in a row. He will just try to out lie Mitt the Twit with a bunch of numbers that dumb and ignorant tea party republicans can't understand.
Yes I would schmoe
O & Joe for 4 more.............WEEKS
