I saw the video of the interview where Ryan lost his temper. I didn't think the questioner was particularly tough or out of line with the question. Made me wonder if the pressure is getting to Ryan. To me it is a reason for the Presidential candidate of either party to pick a running mate who has been through the primary process and is used to the national media attention and debates.
