Romney tries to take the middle on abortion?
He told the Des Moines Register: "There's no legislation with regards to abortion that I'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”
“But by executive order, not by legislation, he would reinstate the so-called Mexico City policy that bans U.S. foreign aid dollars from being used to do abortions, he said,” the Register writes.
Romney also believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned. From his website: “Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade – a case of blatant judicial activism that took a decision that should be left to the people and placed it in the hands of unelected judges. With Roe overturned, states will be empowered through the democratic process to determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate.”
During a 2007 debate, Romney said he’d “be delighted” to sign a federal ban on abortion. A questioner asked, if “Congress passed a federal ban on all abortions and it came to your desk, would you sign it? Yes or no?” When it came to Romney, he said, “Let me say it. I'd be delighted to sign that bill. But that's not where we are. That's not where America is today. Where America is is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade and return to the states that authority. But if the Congress got there, we had that kind of consensus in that country, terrific.”
AP: “Still unclear is what Romney would do if a Republican-controlled Congress passed abortion legislation and presented it to him to sign into law. The Romney campaign sought to walk back the comments soon after they were posted on the Register’s website. ‘Gov. Romney would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life,’ spokeswoman Andrea Saul said, declining to elaborate. Romney supported abortion rights when he first became Massachusetts governor, but he changed his position while in office.”
New York magazine: “It turns out all that time Mitt Romney spent discussing his position on abortion during the primaries was just a waste of time, because he's not planning on pushing any new abortion laws if he's elected. His talk of overturning Roe v. Wade, defunding Planned Parenthood, and adding a constitutional amendment banning abortion might have left the impression that he would, but the new moderate Romney doesn't consider the issue a priority.”
The New York Daily News: “So the human Etch A Sketch known as Mitt Romney has tried to pull a fast one. The Republican candidate flipped his position on abortion, then flipped it back, all the while hoping that no one would notice. Here's the question: If Romney flip-flops and no one is around to hear it, can he manage to get away with it?”
Hoping for growth? The Des Moines Register: “Asked why Iowans should trust his description of his tax plan, Romney gave a spirited rebuttal to Obama’s charges, saying he would cut federal income tax rates by 20 percent, reduce the corporate rate from 35 percent to 25 percent, simplify the tax code, close loopholes and get rid of some deductions. He said the adrenaline injected into the economy from these changes will bring in enough revenue that federal debt wouldn’t deepen.”
How he’d try to close the deficit between the amount of his tax cuts and revenue: “Say the number is $25,000 or $50,000 or whatever the number might be, and give deductions up to that amount. You can put housing into that. You can put charitable contributions into that,” he said. “You can fill that bucket as you’d like, and once you reach that level, that’s the total amount of your deductions.” He said higher-income people ‘might not have any bucket at all.’”
“Mitt Romney put the estate tax at the center of a wide-ranging attack on presidential rival Barack Obama’s agriculture policy during a campaign rally at a century farm here Tuesday afternoon, accusing Obama of seeking to increase taxes in an area where he’d prefer to eliminate them altogether,” the Des Moines Register writes. “But farm economy experts call the tax, assessed on the transfer of property upon death and derisively referred to as the ‘death tax’ by Republicans, a minor issue for the vast majority of Iowa’s farming operations.”

One thing is certain, half the people who vote for Romney will be very, very angry with anything he does.
If even a single American ends up paying higher taxes under Romney, it would set back the entire Republican party 40 years to the point they would NOT be able to talk about taxes for decades.
Secondly, Romney's desire to build 15 warships every year is a sign of the pork he likes. Folks, the Navy isn't asking for these ships. Just like the Army is sitting on thousands of tanks collecting dust and Congress is pushing a bill (against the Army's wish) to build more costing taxpayers billions.
Which deductions will Romney take away?
- Mortgage...he said no.
- Charity....he said no.
- Health insurance, if so Republicans will face outrage for eliminating ObamaCare and charging Americans thousands more each year. In addition, it would provide an incentive to drop insurance and rely on emergency rooms and taxpayer money.
- State taxes, if so Ryan and Republicans better flee Wisconsin as fast as possible.
- Business investments. If that's the case, businesses have said they will see a 20% drop in sales and it will send many of them out of business.
There are 5 of the top deductions. If all of these are off the table, there isn't much money that will be gained by eliminating deductions.
It is going to be ugly for Romney/Ryan and their entire families if they win because they have over promised.
This is just more drumming up political support for the Democratic party by the leftist media...
If Congress passed legislation banning abortions, and the president signed it, it would be challenged in the Supreme Court and overturned.
The man's opinions and feelings are only his. There is nothing that can be done to get rid of Roe v. Wade... Nothing...
It is a shame what the media will conjure up to further divide this nation. It is a further shame that the American public falls for this garbage as "news".
Romney also believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Every voter should remember this when they go to vote, especially the woman voters... After all, it's your body they are talking about...
Is this what they call less government?
Concernedone
You never mention right wing media, the complete garbage that comes from Fox, are you kidding me?
But, put aside the "garbage" that comes from it. You don't think that this country is on the right track? That this imperfect president has a better morale compass than the previous, and the current candidate? Come on? Really?
Its between right and wrong! Not garbage in/garbage out?! Media is just a tool for me. I don't always rely on its information to make an informed, intelligent decision.
I follow my gut, and my heart, too.
If this example, about stance on abortion, isn't one of them, of what is right and wrong, with Etch and his party, then I don't know what would be.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Very Scary people - For those that say he can't undo Roe vs Wade you are so wrong. He will have the power to appoint SCOTUS if one happens to retire or die. That would be extremely scary.
I am really feeling sick try to understand all the flip flopping this man does, and wading through all the BS that comes out of his mouth. He will say anything to get a vote! Remarkable that people are even voting for him - at least you are not being lied to with the current President. Romeny and Ryan it is all about "Trust Me" "We promise" - I say not as far as I can throw you!!!
Vote Obama/Biden - 2012
The Supreme Court is currently 5 to 4 conservative controlled so if abortion legislation to over throw Roe vs Wade reaches the SCOTUS the chances are extremely high that it would happen.
Maybe he's still "evolving" on his stance on abortion. BTW, farmers' are very concerned about the death tax regardless of what the Des Moines Register and it's "farm economy" expert thinks.
The left is so hilarious.
HEY STUPID! It's about the economy and incompetent incumbents.Tomorrow night will be a good night for conservatism. Unless, of course, Biden brings his black dialect, then it's a bad night for all. It will be funny.
Mitt Romney: Abortions for all!
<Right wingers boo loudly>
Mitt Romney: All right, then. No abortions for anybody!
<Rest of country boos loudly>
Mitt Romney: Fine. Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!
<Crowd cheers>
-Apologies to The Simpsons.
A double minded man is unstable in all he does. I read tha the original word that translated to double minded, can also be translated to mean one who has two souls, or one who has no core values. After a little while a picture of coreless Mitt appears.
What is really needed in this country is a major push to reduce abortions. No one, or law will prevent abortions. The Phillipines is a heavily Catholic nation that bans birth control for most people, the result is a population explosion that they cannot contain, and a thriving industry of illegal abortion.
However, abortions have been reduced greatly in teens by getting them set with birth control they don't have to remember (IUDs, Norplant). I'm sure there's something evil about that, too (see Personhood Amendment).
Debbie, better do some tax code reading. There are business and investment deductions that cost the government a lot more money.
Wish NBC and the rest of the media was so concerned when Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage. In 2008, Obama was against it. In 2010, he said states should decide. now he wants the feds to pass a law for it.
IMO: it will take time, but eventually all states will recognize same sex marriage. or at least civil unions.
ucg is absolutely correct.
We have three supreme court justices that very likely will retire within the next four years,
The President picks the replacement (s.) Now will he pick a pro-choice or an anti abortionist? Then the balance is tipped and Roe can be overturned.
Interesting footnote: I'd bet my dog Romney himself IS pro-choice but what are his chances of winning running as a pro-choice Rep. (He will back the overturn of Roe.) Ryan on the other hands is the real McCoy; he would like to eliminate birth control altogether.
roe v wade is an erroneous decision to be sure. however, i am in total favor of abortion rights, and in most cases i would encourage it. hell, i would even go so far as to make it retroactive two years. why is it anyone wants even more kids our society would have to foot the bill for than we already do?
The logic a candidates view on women's rights isn't an issue because he won't be able to over turn Roe vs. wade anyone is strange logic indeed. Why would anyone support someone with opposite views on what's important to you?

Thank God, That needs to be stopped. Why should my tax dollars go for something I don't even believe in. Oh, and Debbie, Obama promised the sun moon and stars too in 2008, how did that work out??
plsthink90--if that is the case, why should my tax dollars go to the military industrial complex--read WAR? That needs to be stopped. Why should my tax dollars go for something I don't even believe in?
If you truly believe in the sanctity of life, why is it only for the unborn? Once a child is born, it is on its own--to be starved, lack education and health care, and oh yes, be killed in war. So--it is a travesty to kill the unborn by abortion, but is perfectly acceptable to kill the living through neglect and war? Also, if all life is sacred, why is it acceptable to destroy our environment and other life forms--for unspeakable amounts of money?
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
Ever hear of the "Hyde Amendment"?
"nurse"
I don't believe in oil subsidies.
I don't believe in ethanol subsidies.
I don't believe in tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires whose sole claim to their fortune is being part of "The Lucky DNA Club".
I don't believe in sending Dept of Education funds to states who clearly don't want their money and would rather see their kids grow up ill-informed.
Can we do something about that?
I don't think this article is on war and neglect. Also, I don't recall saying I was in favor of either. I don't have to like abortion or be for it, it is a free country last time I checked! You libs can support it all you want, that is your choice, not mine.
pls, exactly my choice, my incubator not yours, and frankly it's none of your business what I do or not do with my body or what goes on in my bedroom. Meanwhile, no federal tax dollars go towards subsidizing abortions, the Hyde Amend. prohibits same.
Obama 2012
I could careless what people do with their bodies, they have to live with it not me. I think I stated that already. Yes, tax money does fund off shore abortions.
The reason the GNOP is against freedom of choice is they need all the extra bodies to fight the wars that we don't belong in! It's ok to send the future of America off to be killed in a war..and it's ok to execute someone.....what an oxymoron for those that are "Pro-Life"...
GNOP - we don't need no fact checkers...GNOP CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
C'mon Mythe - show us the 1040's...what ARE you hiding?!
Noid and Paul--I agree! We need to get out the vote!
plsthink90--if you could care less what others do with their bodies, why are you so intent on interfering with what they do? The law does not force anyone to have an abortion--you have a choice not to have one. Get out of other people's intimate decisions. It is NOT on your head whether anybody else has an abortion. You get to make your choice--others should also have the right to make their choices. Your rights end where others' rights begin.
O and Joe--4 more for 44--as many of my friends here say!
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
Welcome to the f'ing club! Why do my tax dollars go to wars that I don't belive in?
plsthink90 - I do see the Moon and Stars a lot!!! While the President hasn't been able to deliver on some of his promises it is not from a lack of trying, it is because of the Republican Congress.
As for not wanting to pay for something you don't support - I believe there was a lot of Americans that didn't support the Iraqi War yet are paying for it today and for many years to come. I would also image that there are a lot of Pork Projects in other states that we all as citizens have to pay for - if you don't want to pay for it then I suggest you move to another country and see how that works for you.
If you Republicans would get of your (religious) high horse and see what is truely at stake in the way of women's health issues, reproductive rights and there freedom to decide what to do or not do medically with their bodies. Then you would see why the rest of us are so passionate about give every person the freedom to do what they wish medically with their bodies. (True Freedom and Small Government)
Abortion is a tragedy it should be banned period
selfeducated--small government, that is funny, control over your own body, even better, wait till ACA hits the street in full swing. I love how you libs always say move, cause it's your way or the highway right?? You guys are funny!
oh- miss nurse- your last line says it all. You libs are the enemy, way to call it!
The problem is now Obamacare requires the taxpayer to finance abortions. Yes, he straight up lied in your face.
Which, btw, was my favorite part of the first debate. It was television debate gold when Romney all but called Obama a liar to his face. Priceless.
What is the excuse when they had complete control of Congress and the Republicans were powerless. Drones shouldn't vote.
Hey debbie, bozo and libs pushed something that the vast majority didnt want and its going to cost trillions..its called healthcare. You are delusional and most of your buddies are not as bold as they were weeks ago. Feisty is out looking for new work as she will not have a job nov 7

Oil-slick, hate whitey, yesterday he hated Blacks, and its quite obvious who you hate, perfect elephant tool.
Obama 2012
Did you really just use the phrase "hate whitey"? Please provide ANY example of an Obama policy that shows he hates white people. I'll wait right here.
If Romney can stop abortion I believe he will. I am ok with that and so should anyone who wants to protect the innocent.
ruk, innocent zygote?
Obama 2012
rukidding47--It seems that innocence only applies to the unborn in your mind. How about protecting elderly, women and child victims of unneeded wars? Are these not innocent as well? Are the living not worthy of being protected?
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
What about the 330,000 lives lost over the past 11 years in the USA from Gun Violence, I guess their lives are worth nothing??? An you and your elk are worried about abortion??? and the government paying for birth control??? I would think that you would want more birth control to prevent unwanted pregancies and therefore prevent abortions?? I know that makes way to much sense.
"elk"?????
It's just unconceivable to me how far this country has fallen. A president who supports abortion, contraception, same sex marriages. Satan is the father of lies and he has deceived a nation. Talk to women who have seen the truth and ask them now how they feel about abortion they had; a woman who uses contraceptives and not only prevents a pregnancy and destroys her body in the process (do the research) and the people having sex with the same sex how happy are they really? AIDS( for all you "natuaralists" how natural is that?) I don't make God's laws, He does, and all these are clearly against His laws. We won't survive as a country if we continue on this path. Check out Roman history.
So... regardless of his personal views, Gov. Romney is willing to move more to the middle of the floor to work with both sides....causing him to do things that he originally would have liked to see go the other way. You left wing jackwagons call this flip flop.... more suitable level headed adults call it leadership! I am personally glad that Gov. Romney is willing to concede some of his personal views and try to move to the middle of the issue so that there can be some common ground found between the two party's. That's what he faced in Mass.... with and 87% Democratic Government....and that's how he was able to bring folks together on the issues and get to the bottom of them and get a plan in place that ALL sides could support. That's the kind of leadership we lack in the office right now... and the kind of leadership that has been lacking in the office for the last 4 years. Thats the kind of leadership that balanced his budget 4 years in a row! This administration cant even produce a budget that can get one single vote!
Vote the R&R ticket folks.... Lead....Follow... or get the Hell out of the way! We must move forward with real leadership.
What the MSM calls flip flopping is a desperation cry.... they know deep down if Obama would have moved more to the middle when his socialist ideals were getting beat down, we probably would not be in as bad of shape as we are right now. If he would have conceded some of his personal agendas and worked in the middle to unite the party's we would be leaps and bounds above right now... and he would be leaps and bounds above in his re-election bid. Instead he pushed his partisan ideals down the throats of congress... and the American people regardless, and look at where that got us!
WE NEED A LEADER IN THE OFFICE!
VOTE R&R for a better tomorrow!
I agree. as a conservative I understand that not all of my views will be imposed on people nor do I want others imposed on me. This country desperatly needs comprimise Not my way or the highway
From one war vet to another I am calling you out, sir. There is plausible deniablility when it comes Mit. He showed it last Wednesday, again.
The only reason Etch is where he is today is because of money, lots of it.
His party didn't want to support him, average people hate him, and if he wins this election its because of lots of money.
He isn't a leader. Except of a company to destroy other comapanies, and lives. That's what he led. So he could get fat.
That's not the American Dream. Obama is the American Dream. Coming from nothing to being LEADER of the free world.
Your boy was brought up entitled to everything.
This is a clear stark choice!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 TO CONTINUE FORWARD!
Soo you are against someone coming to this country Legally, making something of himself only to make sure that his kids have a better oppritunity in life? We were not that for Regan at first either and look how that turned out. What companies did he destroy, other than a steel plant he kept open for years when every other plant was closing. Is burger king sports authority..just to name a few bad CO;s.
bahrrt - Respectfully, I disagree with some of your statements, but will talk about 1 in particular.
I work for one of the DOMESTIC companies Bain invested in. If it weren't for Bain, my company almost certainly would NOT exist. They (and yes, ROMNEY) were the significant source of funding for our start-up, which literally took hundreds of millions of dollars - not the kind of start up costs you go to the local bank for.
Bain has been smeared as a destroyer, but has so many good points the left will not consider - all because folks like most media outlets, the Democratic party, and Hollywood celeb's won't shut their mouths long enough to give a sincere look at ALL SIDES of issues. They only know "D" is good, "R" is bad. So they force that down your throat.
I don't blame you. We are products of our environment. If all you hear is divisive partisan garbage, that is all you will know. But I am here to tell you there is much more to Bain than "they took our jobs and sent them overseas".
Regan wouldn't even be recognized in today's Repuk party, for one. And, having lived through the Regan years it hadn't been all roses. BTW he raised taxes 11 times. XD
www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/greed-and-debt-the-true-story-of-mitt-romney-and-bain-capital-20120829
For in-depth insight to Etch go to the link above. There are many more. BK and Sport Authority are doing so hot lately, but if he is so righteous, then why lie about when he left Bain? Why outsource more than create more jobs here?
But we are getting off topic OilShat1. Bottom line, to end this tangent, is Romney is not a leader for this country!
If I were a Republicon, I would have voted for Huntsman. At least he has a morale compass.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Staples closing 15 stores, most employees are min. wage, part time with no benefits, same for Toys r Us, Sports Authority, Burger King, Dominoes, Dunkin Donuts etal., high paying jobs, sure. Workers part of the vilified 47%.
Meanwhile back to the topic, no surprise on the flip on Women's Choice, he will do what his handlers tell him to do, the man has no spine or real core beliefs, except when it comes to money.
Obama 2012
concernedone
Well, that is a good story, however, the heart of the matter for Mitt, is his character.
Since you work for him, or under him, or whatever, have you met him? In person?
I know I see. I don't see him as leader of this country. Bottom line. And all the bad attacks on Mitt go to his cred. Sorry, I wish I could be as objective as you about this. But, this is about our country!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
bahrrt - Exactly, this is about our country. I agree!
No, because one invests in a company doesn't meant the underlings get to meet the investors. I have never met someone as high on the food chain as Romney... I have shook the hands of 2 governors though...
Let's focus on one issue at a time, please. We talk about Bain, & when confronted with the REAL story, you changed the topic.
Skyparrot- That is 'the glass is half-empty'... Why not look at the jobssaved, and the money paid in labor costs and taxes paid by the "saved" stores. Bain influence made Staples a viable company with a recipe for success that has lasted much longer than the list of energy companies the Obama administration has invested in...
Concern, Staples not so viable now, between Office Depot and Office Max, Staples easy Button is no longer easy. I do agree with you on one point, having a job is better than not having a job no matter how crappy it is. Things are percolating here in the Ft. Myers area, our 16 year old is working, found a part time after school job, he didn't vie adults for it, tells us something.
Obama 2012
1. The real story was about abortion.
2. The next real story is about Etch's flip-flops, in excess, to Obama's for the betterment of the country.
3. I give you an accurate insight on what us "libs" feel about your man and you somehow think defending him will turn our opinion of him. Again, I know what I see.
Its as simple as that Concernedone.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
We can't be sure what Romney really believes. He has changed his stance on issues as often as he changes his magic underwear. You may not like Obama or his stance on issues but at least he is consistant.
Willard Romney is a sociopath who will say and do anything he thinks will get him what he wants. He will lie without remorse. He will harm animals (Seamus) and other people (The preppy school kid and the people affected by Bain Capital's vultur capitalism) and have no real feelings for any of them. He will fain empathy and that he cares but he really is only acting. Sociopaths can be pretty good at acting.
Justanotherveteran -
Thank you for your service - what we are stating is that Romney can't be trusted. He will say anything to get the POTUS. He could really can less about you or me. That is why we are up in arms so to speak. He changes his position so much you don't have a clue what he actual stands for.
As a fellow veteran I would think you would support the current administration especially with everything he is doing to support the troops and veterans when they return home. Also even more still needs to be done to continue with Veteran care - what do you think Romney and Ryan will cut first??? Again can't trust what he says - so your Veteran Benefits are at risk!!!!
Well hell I'll have to give you that one.... he is consistent! He has consistently failed in his office of POTUS for almost 4 straight years! He has consistently rammed through his agenda anyway he can...even with Executive Orders. He has consistently signed into the books, laws that blatantly defy the Constitution of The United States of America. He has consistently told our partners overseas, that he hasn't got time to meet with them on world issues...he has an appointment with Whoopy on The View, or some Hollywood fundraiser to attend. For days after our Embassy was attacked and our Ambassador and three others were killed, while an Islamic flag replaced the Stars and Stripes on the flag pole.....He consistently said it was a misguided attack due to a video instead of saying it was an act of terror on our Embassy and it's occupants, regardless of the repeated requests for increased security and countless intel reports that were collecting dust on his desk so to speak. He has consistently failed to produce or to make the Senate produce a viable budget for years now. He has consistently never held hand on heart while the Colors were being presented.....instead folded arms and looked off in the distance. He has consistently said he will have "much more flexibility after the election" He has consistently sealed every record of his past, that would without a doubt disprove all the conspiracy nuts that surround his appointment to the Office....tell me more about that sh*t Libbies....I for one would like to know! And riddle me why he would do such a thing to begin with....I mean it is a pretty big white elephant in the room, if there is nothing to hide from.....if there is nothing to worry about in there....then WHY! How in fact does one go through Harvard Law school and not one single person remembers you, or remembers having you as a classmate....a roommate.....hell even a friend or enemy.... Not one....Riddle me the answer to that why don't ya! His failure as the POTUS is about the only thing he is consistant on, the evidence of world views and the things that are taking place in world events....the world around you is the most predominate sign you could imagine of having! He consistently gave money...upwards of $90 Billion to Green energy company's that have since gone belly up....most of which were owned by his Democratic handlers and Donors to the cause....23 million out of work.....47 million people receiving food stamps...4 straight years of an 8%+ unemployment rating....the first ever downgrade of the American Credit rating under his command....Our Ambassador and 3 others Killed because of his lack of action and leadership, the first time in more than 3 decades that has happened....on his watch. Jesus I could go on forever and ever about his consistency, but it won't change your minds because you refuse to see reality around you! This is not a dream world... this is real time Sh*t going on....and if you can look out and not see that with your own eyes then I don't know how to fix that for you. But I do suggest that you take a long hard look at the world and not through those rose colored glasses you have on either. I don't have anything against the man....as a man, I am sure he is a wonderful person and is very likable...but a leader of the free world he is not...he is a man over his eyebrows in a world of Sh*t that he does not know how to fix! He himself said if I can't do this then I do not deseve another term as your President, well look around... he FAILED Miserably... and yet there he is again asking you for another chance! Telling you its raining outside and pissing on your neck...NO SIR... he will not get my vote, and I hope like hell he don't get yours either....there is to much at stake here to wait 4 more years and see if finally pulls his head out of his....well we will just leave it at that.
We need a president who knows he's accountable to God for his actions. Romney's proved by his actions that he will live up to his word. He's served as a pastor in his church helping the needy; fulfilled all the promises he made as governor of Massachusets; and donated ALL his inheritance to charity. So for all those who believe the liberal propoganda, try researching facts. Don't follow like blind sheep. Good luck.
I think each state should have the right to set their own abortion laws. When it boils down to it, the woman having the abortion has to live with her decision, right or wrong in your view, SHE is the only one who has to answer for her actions. Our earthly opinion doesn't matter. If you don't agree with abortion, don't have one. In the end, only you have to answer for your actions. Do I agree with abortion? No. But that is MY choice.
Women ultimately should have the only choice when it comes to their own health, jrom77.
Not the States, not your opinion, or choice!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
States should have rights to keep abortion out. But since you want to be an arse, when does the fetus get a choice?
Oil shat
States doesn't have rights when it comes to anyone's health. But since you are a dip s**t the fetus gets aborted when it endangers the mother, or through rape (not "legitimate" rape Mr. Akin), or when the mother deems it. Hence Pro-Choice.
You morons complain that there are too many mouths to feed on welfare. Yet, you want to protect a fetuses right to life? What a joke.
How you like them apples?
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Do you personally know someone who has been raped and impregnated..I do and they gave that child to a loving family. Hey if the mothers life is in danger obviously a choice has to be made and that is a rare circumstance. Dont put words in my mouth. Your a joke sir. You seem to be bitter bc maybe mommy and daddy were failures and you dont like others that are succesful
Don't pretend you know something about me, OilShat. The word coming out of your mouth are definitely your own and says a lot about you. What's in your heart and mind.
Its wrong. Its wrong for the country. That is why I fight people like you. There is no compromise with you.
If there were I would sit at the table and discuss it. If you had sensible views it would be different.
But don't get delusional that this has anything to do with just me and my private life.
You do get a Bozo button, however, to try to get me to stoop to your level of attacks.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
bahrrt, "States don't have rights when it comes to anyone's health" Really? What about the health of the baby? Maybe that fetus didn't ask to be born into this world, so you kill it? Maybe you need to watch a video of an abortion. Maybe all of you pro-abortion/death people need to watch. You talk so easily and freely about abortion until you actually see a baby being mutilated and torn to shreds. I pray for people like you because you're blind to what you're doing or stand up for. My wife just had a baby boy and I couldn't even fathom tearing him to pieces like that. Even an animal wouldn't do that to it's own. Even other animals have the sense to protect the life of another baby animal. It's what you're supposed to do, protect life, not destroy it. What is wrong with you people?
Romney is alot like watching a tennis match. Back and forth, back and forth. As a resident of Mass., I saw it first hand during his years as governor. Mass. Rep. Barney Frank answered when he was asked for a reason on why Obama is leading Mitt by nearly 35% in the latest polls of Mass. voters, "Because we had him for four years and we know him best!"
wow .... mormon church must be so proud of his stance now ..... amazing .... flip flop flip flop ....... flip .... flop .... hell with the church doctrine ..... good for u mr flip flopper ....
obama 2012
JustanotherVeteran- ".. concede some of his personal views and try to move to the middle of the issue so that there can be some common ground found between the two party's. That's what he faced in Mass." Really? Or were his beliefs when he was here as governor different from what he belives in now? (EX. Abortion, health care, etc.) His beliefs have "evolved" since then, I think is how he explains it. Like his tax plan that before the debate that contained $4.9 Trillion in cuts, but at debate time these cuts "are not part of my plan." or try ot catch the interview with Newt Gingrich, when the reporter asked Newt if Mitt was still a flip-flopping liar as he had described him during the primary.
Lets rewind and catch what hillary biden and every other dem had to say about obamas leadership. Lets examine obamas statements about cutting debt in half
i find every new president makes me miss the old one.this pattern just seems to continue.i dont like obama, and im scared someday ill miss him.too frightening.we never will have a real person in the whitehouse.
You keep talking about leadership like you actually know something about it. What did you ever lead?
Oh, I know, your answer to leading is filibustering! Right?
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
rumor has it its we the people.
Yeah, that's the rumor.
Why all this useless discussion?
Romney was for abortion rights before he was against them and now is for them but by tomorrow will be against them. Get it! It's so simple even a flip flopper would understand.
Lar, campaign spokesman already walked back, so tomorrow is today. No surprise.
Obama 2012
Does Mitt Romney not speak for Mitt Romney? How many times will reporters allow Mitt Romney to be excused and given a pass when he says one thing and his campaign says Mitt really didn't mean that? Are reporters so set on a given news cycle that they can't recall these mis-matched messages when they get Romney in front of them? The next oops should be in a headline when Romney thinks he's going to get away with saying one thing--his campaign says he actually meant this and is asked by a reporter, 'Who speaks for Mitt Romney?'
tell me about it, I feel the same about Obama. They call him out on nothing!!
Who speaks for obama, you know the crew that said bengazi wasnt a terroist attack for 9 days only to concedeit was
Whaa? =S
Trinity, Rove, Koch Boys, Adelson? Secret handlers? Mormon Church elders? Pick one from column A or B, he certainly can't sustain a personal belief.
Obama 2012
That is the darn liberal media according to some on this board). Those hypocrites only find truth in what they already believe and anything that is remotely contrary to their personal OPINIONs are somehow biased, lies, or in some other way tainted.
Romney's viewpoints have not evolved. He saw how the majority viewed his crooked viewpoints and decided for the sake of his campaign that he needed to alter his thoughts on certain matters so that he could gain some popularity among the middle-class. He is talking out of his ass, and anything he says he will do, will not hold true if elected. Yes, Obama promised a lot of things and they haven't all happened, but he is steadfastly trying to implement new policies to help our economy out. Will they work? No one knows. But there is no denying the fact that Obama is here to help the middle-class who are the backbone of the economy.
As far as abortion goes, I would never have one, but I believe it is the choice of each individual to decide what they want to do. An unborn fetus, unfortunately does not have the choice of what parents/lifestyle they will be born into. If a woman feels that she will not be able to properly care for a child or has been raped, and feels her only out is abortion then that should be her choice to decide. Not anyone else.
Yes!
Obama 2012
Roger that, Ashley!
O & JOE 2012!
I am with you Ashley. +1 =)
Romney changes his mind! Who would have thought! Give me a break; this man says whatever he thinks he needs to say to get a vote. I'm old enough to remember before Roe v Wade was enacted. Trust me--abortions still happened! You just had to be rich enough to go to a state that allowed them for certain instances or be able to have a "family" doctor sympathetic to the situation. Should abortions be a form of birth control--no; but it should be an option for everyone, not just the wealthy.
It is very important for the American people to remember who it is backing this man and why they want him to be the President. The Koch brothers (have any of you researched who these men are and their business practices? they are right up there with Romney), Karl Rove, Norquist, Adelson, Alice Walton, just to name a few of the very wealthy who want to see a return on their investment. These people have much to gain if Romney is elected. Wal-Mart puposely keeps most of it employees at minimum wage in part-time positions to avoid paying for any benefits. I live in an area where Wal-Mart is one of the larger employers; and 2 working parents for Wal-Mart have no healthcare provided to them or their family. Their combined income still qualifies them for welfare which we as taxpayers fund. So it's ok for a large corporation to pass off their employees to the government to provide basic needs just to have larger profits. These supporters of Romney need someone in office they can manipulate; Romney shows us how easily he can "change" his position on policies. If Romney would become President, the only ones to gain will be his rich contributors. The rest of Americans will just be the ones "harvested" for more profits.
I live in a tourist area doing accounting for local individuals and businesses. Every one of my clients have had a great year; tourism is better, primary and second home sales are booming. We are on the right track. Let's continue to go forward.
Obama/Biden
When is NBC ever going to become a real journalistic media outlet? Here we have one of the biggest cover-ups in the history of the US - perhaps larger than Iran Contra, Watergate, etc., -- and NBC is spending their time with more distortions anbd contortions trying to confuse people as to Romney's stance on abortion? Are you #%$#%$#ing kidding me?
Where's the story on why the White House and this Administration blatantly lied to the American people about what really happened in Benghazi?????? All the other networks are covering it, even the libs and progressive ones, where is NBC??
Oh, you mean like Fox? XD
Morning Joe had the Benghazi tragedy, plus the story is here on the Vine, you missed it. Don't worry ISSA will sue Hillary and the State Department, Granted very badly handled all around, but it is very hard to get real time information.
Obama 2012
SJ-When is NBC ever going to become a real journalistic media outlet? Here we have one of the biggest cover-ups in the history of the US - perhaps larger than Iran Contra, Watergate, etc.
What on earth are you talking about? Iran-Contra and Watergate were world shaking crimes committed by criminal Republican Presidents. The tragic Benghazi attack is about different intelligence coming in at different times and being reported as it comes out. If I can fault the government,it would be that instead of waiting for a full investigation before commenting. They quickly put out unclear intelligence. But had they waited, the Republicans would be accusing them of hiding information from the public.
This explains the information better than I can:
Clearing the Record About Benghazi
By SCOTT SHANE
The dispute over how the Obama administration has characterized the lethal attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, last month boiled over once again in the debate on Tuesday night between President Obama and Mitt Romney. But questions about what happened in the attack, and disputes over who said what about it, have left many people confused. Here are some of the facts as they are now known:
When did Mr. Obama first talk about the attack on Sept. 11 in Benghazi, which killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, as terrorism?
Mr. Obama applied the “terror” label to the attack in his first public statement on the events in Benghazi, delivered in the Rose Garden at the White House at 10:43 a.m. on Sept. 12, though the reference was indirect. “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for,” he said. “Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.”
Was that the only time Mr. Obama used the “terror” label?
No. The next day, Sept. 13, in a campaign appearance in Las Vegas, he used similar language. “And we want to send a message all around the world — anybody who would do us harm: No act of terror will dim the light of the values that we proudly shine on the rest of the world, and no act of violence will shake the resolve of the United States of America,” he said.
If the president referred to the attack as an “act of terror” twice in those two days, why has there been such a controversy over what Republicans call the administration’s deep reluctance to label the attack terrorism?
The “act of terror” references attracted relatively little notice at the time, and later they appeared to have been forgotten even by some administration officials. In the vice-presidential debate, for instance, Representative Paul D. Ryan declared, “It took the president two weeks to acknowledge that this was a terrorist attack.” Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. did not directly contradict the charge. What attracted more attention was a series of statements by administration officials, notably Susan E. Rice, the ambassador to the United Nations, that appeared to link the Benghazi attack to a protest against a crude anti-Islam video made in the United States that was circulating on the Web.
What exactly did the administration officials say that prompted the Republican response?
Several officials emphasized that the attack appeared to be spontaneous, not planned, and linked it to the protests over the video that had taken place in Cairo and other cities. Jay Carney, the White House spokesman, said on Sept. 14 about the Benghazi attack, “We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack.” On Sept. 16, Ms. Rice said, “What this began as was a spontaneous, not a premeditated, response to what happened, transpired in Cairo,” where protesters angered by the video stormed the grounds of the American Embassy. Hedging her remarks by saying that her information was preliminary, Ms. Rice also said, “We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people, came to the embassy to — or to the consulate, rather — to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo.” That initial protest, she said, “seems to have been hijacked” by “extremists who came with heavier weapons.”
When did administration officials begin consistently to use the “terrorism” label?
On Sept. 19, Matthew G. Olsen, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said about the killings in Benghazi during a Senate hearing, “Yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy.” The next day, asked about Mr. Olsen’s testimony, Mr. Carney declared, “It is, I think, self-evident that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack.”
What were American intelligence agencies saying about the attack?
Administration officials later explained their statements by saying they had repeated preliminary information they had learned from intelligence briefings. The director of national intelligence, James R. Clapper Jr., lent some support to the administration’s claims by approving the release of an unusual public statement on Sept. 28 about the evolving conclusions of the intelligence agencies. His spokesman, Shawn Turner, said intelligence analysts who at first believed that the attacks were part of a spontaneous protest revised their initial assessments “to reflect new information indicating that it was a deliberate and organized terrorist attack carried out by extremists.”
What do eyewitnesses say about the events in Benghazi? Were they related to the insulting video, or is that a red herring? And was the assault planned for the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, or was it spontaneous?
According to reporting by David D. Kirkpatrick and Suliman Ali Zway of The New York Times, eyewitnesses have said there was no peaceful demonstration against the video outside the compound before the attack, though a crowd of Benghazi residents soon gathered, and some later looted the compound. But the attackers, recognized as members of a local militant group called Ansar al-Shariah, did tell bystanders that they were attacking the compound because they were angry about the video. They did not mention the Sept. 11 anniversary. Intelligence officials believe that planning for the attack probably began only a few hours before it took place.
Is it fair to link the Benghazi attack to Al Qaeda?
Only very indirectly. Ayman al-Zawahri, the leader of Al Qaeda, had called on Libyans to avenge the killing of a Libyan-born Qaeda leader, and American intelligence officials have said they intercepted boastful phone calls after the assault from the attackers to members of the Qaeda affiliate in North Africa, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
Why has this event become such a flash point in the presidential campaign?
As the centerpiece of his national security record, Mr. Obama has highlighted his administration’s aggressive efforts against militants in Pakistan and Yemen, as well as thesuccessful raid to kill Osama bin Laden. Some of his top aides have suggested that Al Qaeda has been decimated by the American strikes. Republicans have seized on the Benghazi attack — which resulted in the first killing of an American ambassador in decades — to counter this Democratic line, suggesting that the administration has exaggerated its success against Al Qaeda and has pursued policies that have left the Middle East in chaos.

Why would they want to talk against their man? I watch NBC to see what they're up to and there's a pattern: put in a couple nice things about Romney that no one really cares about, then distort other things to hurt him and then praise Obama and his wife and all the supposed wonderful things he's doing, and put very little emphasis on things when he really screws up. Same thing every evening. They play these games to make it sound like they are being fair and accurate. It's really a joke.
Ashley--that sounds so familar....hmmmm, maybe the current POTUS, you libs must live with head in sand, 99% of the time. Funny @!$%#!
See, this is exactly what I am talking about before. Republicon trolls are not serious about what is at stake.
You think it's funny? Had you not had Obama do what he did you would have possibly lost your 401K, and more.
How funny is that? And you think you folks are so damn slick putting the SOS back in the WH?!?
Now that is a real joke!
XD ROTFLMAO
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Pls, try this one on for size, our tax dollars at work:
The Republican party, in Congress has:
Introduced 46 abortion bills. introduced 113 bills on religion,
introduced 73 bills on the family relationships, introduced 36 bills on marriage, introduced 72 bills on firearms,
introduced 604 bills on taxation, introduced 467 bills on government investigation, Forgot 33 votes to repeal Health Care 1.6 billion 80 hours lost!
Now THAT Is Real Job Creation,,,,,,,,true, fact, google it. Think this is worthless behavior, wait, it'll get worse if romney gets his toe in the door. 3 + years of right wing ideologues at work.
Obama 2012
When Willard was running for the senate and governor here in Mass, He claimed to support a women's right to choose. This is true. I saw him make that speech. When he decided to run for president, he took a huge turn to the right and now describes himself as anti-choice. Denying choice is to deny freedom and liberty, the very issues the GOP claims to be for.
Now, he wants to be on both sides of this important issue. Why can't voters see what a deceitful fraud this man is? He'll say anything to achieve his dream to be POUS.
How any intelligent, educated woman can consider voting for him or any other Republican boggles my mind. The GOP will bring women back to the 1950's.
Hence, Etch-A-Sketch! XD
Thanks for making the point, Burn1!
Those that complain about how little President Obama has done to improve the economy really have no idea how serious things were when he took office. As an instructor of macroeconomics, I can tell you that the direction our economy was heading when President Obama took office was disastrous. We could have easily been back to the days of a great depression. The President came into office and took measures to improve our economy. He was met with those in Congress that had vowed to make sure there were no successes under his administration. Do we not remember McConnell proclaiming his vow to make this man a "one-term" president? He and others met to pledge their loyalty to Norquist and his lobbyists cronies. So President Obama was faced with obstruction, hatred, and filibustering in his efforts to improve the American way of life. In spite of this progress has been made, could it have been better? Ask the Republican obstructionists? How do elected officials sign an oath to undermine a sitting president and not face charges of treason? Please check your state legislators. Did they sign this pledge? If so, do you really believe they deserve to represent your interests? Look at the VP candidate Ryan. Is this the type of person you want deciding our future? Romney & Ryan are puppets of the super rich; their records show it regardless of what words come out of their mouths.
Obama/Biden
I totally agree...well said! Obama inherited two unpopular wars, a housing market on the brink of collapse, the auto industry about to flop and a huge outrageous deficit.
I am not sure if anyone else remembers what was going on with the credit card companies under Bush, they were becoming loan sharks and raping the American public...Obama proposed and passed the Credit Consumer Protection Act....which stopped the credit card companies. This was NOT supported by Ryan, he voted against this act, he swore it would ruin the credit card companies. His voting against this act, which helped the average American, not the credit card companies, shows Ryan's loyalties. Please keep that in mind when you cast your vote.
To be fair Obama changed his view on big issues too. Is that considered flip flopping or progressive thinking? Never heard media describe Obama's change on same sex marriage as flip flopping. Should have the same standards for each candidate, don't you think?
Sure he did but not every time he turned around.
Obama did change is position on SSM, but he has no ability to make it the law of the land. Willard and the GOP can outlaw choice by Supreme court appointments. That's the difference.
Can you name another major flip by Obama? Willard has multiple flip flops.
That's because he said his views where still evolving. So that left it open to change.
Romney was trained by Ron Jeremy. The porn star, see how often he changes positions. His number one fan is Jenna Jameson. Flip- flopping at its peak
If we allow a rich, lying, inauthentic, tax cheat businessman who thinks he SHOULD be POTUS because he doesn't have anything else to do win then, America deserves it!. He doesn't have any convictions and the media, who has propped him up all thru the primaries and general, thinks a debate performance erases what voters know about him! He is still an empty suit IMO, but the media will focus on the Obama debate until he does the above...again! The press appear to be as shallow as we know Mitt is!!
(I'll post it here)!
It amazes me how one debate can wipe out two years of rhetoric from Romney, two years on being on the American stage. Changing all his position in one night --wipes all of it out. WOW!!!! We are a fickle bunch. One bad debate performance wipes out all the things Obama achieved. How well he has been doing. He never changes his position--- basically says what he going to do (you don't have to like it) but it never changes. How easily do we give up. (SHAME).
seems like such an obvious cop-out when a presidential candidate says "let the states decide/manage, etc. is that what they mean by small govt?
