Romney revives unemployment rate attack in rain-soaked Virginia

NEWPORT NEWS, VA-- Mitt Romney resurrected one of his favorite attack lines against the president's economic stewardship on Monday, hitting President Barack Obama for 43 months of unemployment above eight percent, despite Friday's new data indicating the rate had finally fallen below that well-worn attack.

"We've seen the slowest recovery from a recession in history," Romney told a rain-soaked crowd of 500 supporters here on Monday. "As a matter of fact, I just read that if you look back 60 years, and you look at all the months we had with unemployment about 8 percent before President Obama, there were 39 months in all 60 years with unemployment above 8 percent."

"With this president, there have been 43 months under one president alone," Romney continued. "He does not understand what it takes to create a real recovery. I do."

The remarks came as Romney rushed through his second public appearance of the day, a rally at a park in Newport News, that the campaign chose to begin early and cut short due to a downpour that showed no sign of abating.

Romney gushed over the crowd, who cheered him as he hit on his economic talking points, as well as two of the three more personal anecdotes he began telling this weekend.

“People wonder why it is I’m so confident we’re going to win," Romney said. "I’m confident because I see you here on a day like this. This is unbelievable! Thank you so much! "

Again, the only poll that counts is the one in November.

That said, per the reports on the polls I've heard (from NPR inspite of the defunding threat), the key reason for the bounce was the first debate. Gov. Romney "won" the debate by an over 40% margin per the pollings.

Key reason stated was that "he looked good and sounded confident." This to me is a really sad statement when the wrapping is more important than the contents to the average American. Americans need to learn about and focus on the issues. THEN make their decision.

It's the Bush Depression.

.

Just because it started 4 years ago, just because it's truth, it doesn't mean you can mention it again.

.

A recession started with bank failure and credit crunch is harder to fix, such as the Great Depression that started in 1929 but didn't end until 1945 - and don't forget the impact of WWII on the economy.

Maybe Martians attacking is not a bad thing after all - we will get a war that might then fix the Bush Depression, just as what WWII did to the Great Depression.

If Romney is considered by some to be the 'winner', it is only because of the Romney/Rove strategy of Extreme Dishonesty.

Romney immediately DENIED the $5 trillion dollar tax cut plan, that he has been selling across the nation for the past 18 months.

This tax cut plan bought him bigtime financial support from the 0.01%-ers like Adelson, who plan to put a Norquistian President into the Oval office - to do their bidding.

Other major, major whoppers followed, and Romney ran out the clock telling them.

Good lord, Dennis- can you comprehend anything you read?

Gallup reported out TWO-2- poll numbers today. One was the result of the seven day rolling AVERAGE- that is all seven days, added up, then divided by seven. They also reported out the results of the three days after the debate.

Now, why would they do that? Well, see, when they looked at the seven day average, they noticed something- the last three days trended toward Romney.

Now, they could have decided not to report both- but that would put them in an awkward position- public trust in their polls would be undermined. So, they decided to go with both.

The three day polling result is the more important. That debate had a huge impact- as it was seen by over 70 million people. One would assume that those people will actually vote, since, after all, debates are not, exactly, high on the entertainment list for most people. By the way, Romney's 52 point win was the biggest EVER in Gallup history. Only Bill Clinton's 42 points even came close.

Gallup will, in fact, be getting to Likely Voter mode- they should have, already, but I suppose they decided to wait until after the debates had started. Then Obama is done. Stick a fork in him.

Mitt doesn't care about the bottom 47% anyway, why does he even mention unemployment? To remind those unemployed that Mitt doesn't care about them?

One reason the unemployment is so bad is THAT Mitt and his fellow 1% have moved their money (the result of TAX-PAYERS-funded tax cut) to the Cayman Islands and refuse to invest in here to create jobs - thus disproving Mitt's own theory of trickle-down economics.

I don't think our President will allow the challenger Myth get away with all the lies in the second meeting as in the first debate. How would you be if someone shook the Etch-A-Sketch so hard that his positions changed to something totally different from he had been expounding for the past year! The President was not prepared to debate an Etch-a-Sketch, it is like changing the debate topic without telling your opponent. The President will be prepared for this type of contingency in the next debate. The lies will not be tolerated. Besides, the PitBull Biden will chew the legs off of the Lying Ryan and reveal his surrogate master for what he is. That's what V.P.'s are for!

The media is reporting the lies Myth tried to get away with. The only folks who will side with Myth will be the same low information voters that would back him anyway (read Fox viewers). Kind of funny that Obama- who lied about the Embassy attack in Cairo- which was really about releasing the Blind Sheikh, not some obscure movie Obama, himself, marketed, in an attempt to deflect blame from himself- and the attack that cost the lives of four Americans in Libya, which was an al Queda attack- could accuse anybody of lying about anything at all.

Or that anybody with two brain cells to rub together to create a spark could believe him about anything at all. This is, after all, a man who lied about his own dying mother for political advantage.

Latest from the Pew Research Center, a generally left-wing organization:

"Mitt Romney no longer trails Barack Obama in the Pew Research Center’s presidential election polling. By about three-to-one, voters say Romney did a better job than Obama in the Oct. 3 debate, and the Republican is now better regarded on most personal dimensions and on most issues than he was in September. Romney is seen as the candidate who has new ideas and is viewed as better able than Obama to improve the jobs situation and reduce the budget deficit.

Fully 66% of registered voters say Romney did the better job in last Wednesday’s debate, compared with just 20% who say Obama did better. A majority (64%) of voters who watched the debate describe it as mostly informative; just 26% say it was mostly confusing.

In turn, Romney has drawn even with Obama in the presidential race among registered voters (46% to 46%) after trailing by nine points (42% to 51%) in September. Among likely voters, Romney holds a slight 49% to 45% edge over Obama. He trailed by eight points among likely voters last month."

Oh Snookie, Snookie, Snookie...

A direct cut and paste from the article you link to in your post above:

The Obama campaign claims that a Princeton economist's findings support its assertions about Mitt Romney's tax plan, but the economist says that's not exactly true.

"Harvard economist Martin Feldstein and Princeton economist Harvey Rosen both concede that paying for Romney’s tax cuts would require large tax increases on families making between $100,000 and $200,000," the Obama campaign wrote in a press release on Sunday.

But Princeton economist Harvey Rosen's paper analyzing Romney's tax plan didn't exactly look at families making between $100,000 and $200,000. Instead, it analyzed families making more than $100,000 per year and families making more than $200,000 per year. The second group is part of the first group, and Rosen did not separate the two.

Rosen told the Weekly Standard in an email that he felt that the Obama campaign misrepresented the paper on a broader level too. "I can’t tell exactly how the Obama campaign reached that characterization of my work," he wrote in an email to the publication.

Rosen's paper did find that families making more than $100,000 per year would have to pay $81 billion more in taxes under Romney's tax plan, a 12 percent increase. But his paper did not explicitly say whether these families, whose incomes he assumes would be rising, would actually pay a higher tax rate.

Rosen's conclusion that Romney's tax plan is mathematically possible rests on a questionable assumption: namely that Romney's tax cuts for the rich would lead to robust economic growth. In fact, economic growth sharply slowed during the Bush administration, when President George W. Bush cut taxes for the rich. Brad DeLong, economics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, also notes that President Ronald Reagan's tax cuts for the rich did not lead to much stronger economic growth either.

A number of analysts, including those at the Tax Policy Center, have found that Romney's tax plan would have to raise taxes on the middle class in order to be mathematically possible. But Rosen may not be in that category. His analysis first would need to separate middle-class families from rich families for us to know.

Can you look past a headline and maybe read the article? If only your reading comprehension was equal to your ability to be stupid.

The bolded parts of the article above shows that the interpretation of the data may be different between the two parties involved, but Rosen needs to define rich and middle class. Is middle class to you someone making $250,000 a year? The median income in the U.S. is more like $50,000 a year.

Romney and Ryan lie each time they get on a stage in front of an audience. Then the campaign refutes what they say in a Tweet that no one is going to read. Romney is so two faced, you never know what is going to come out of his mouth from one moment to the next and you expect the informed citizens of America to trust someone of that ilk? Trusting Romney is truly pathetic. He is an egomaniac, the GOP is full of misogynists and GOPers like Braun of GA and Aiken of MO are the equivalent of the Christian Taliban.

Romney hopes unemployment will go down in Jan. 2013, because he has no plan to help our economy grow.

"Drill, baby, drill" assumes that oil and gas companies can expand exploration and production in the short run. This is highly unlikely.

However, the reality is far different. The number of geologists and engineers needs to increase and last time I checked it took 4 years of college education and another 3 years apprenticing before new geologists and engineers can do the job here.

The number of drilling rigs also needs to increase. Pipelines need to be built.

Here in PA, we had a gas drilling boom due to fracking technology. The gas companies came in and bought up the rights to natural gas from property owners and proceeded to drill and frack. Our Republican Governor refused to support a severance tax like they have in Texas ($900 million revenue) and other states. Gas production soared, prices collapsed, and they stopped drilling here waiting for prices to recover. The free market is very inefficient at maximizing growth and utilization of our energy resources. Government involvement is necessary for improvement in this.

Many PA residents to not have access to natural gas because nobody planned for pipelines to small towns across PA. The severance tax revenue could have subsidized gas line expansion here in PA and our PA government could have worked on a plan for this with natural gas and pipeline companies. This would have increased consumption of natural gas and reduced severity of price collapse and drilling would continue here. Increased tax revenue could also have been used to plan and supervise safer drilling and fracking.

"Drill, baby, drill" represents a hope for the future. It is not a plan. The world oil market will absorb any "cheaper" oil there is and make it more expensive (market price). The expanding world population and a rising standard of living worldwide will suck up increases in production. Oil prices will continue to climb with "drill, baby, drill". And global warming's effects on climate change will only increase too.

Take the short run impact of "drill, baby, drill" from Romney's plan for economic growth and he's got nothing left but hope.

Hope is Romney's plan for economic growth. HOPE's all he's got.

Do you still predict Obama will win Va by 9 points?

I am not a big fan of George Allen, so wont predict he will win.

I find it A F*ING MAZING that when the numbers .. .jobs or polls are for the PRESIDENT, the RWNJs go through the roof with conspiracy theories and who said what and it was registered, non-registered ... blah, blah, blah.

I have YET to see any of those that are voting for Mitt Romney specifically say why they support their lying through his teeth candidate.

You all jump on the "we'd vote for a rock but not Obama bandwagon." Definitely shows intelligence.

I'm for MY President. Recovery is slow ... but it is steady and there is no way on this planet that a presidency would be accepted and favored by the people of the United States or our allies if it was little Mitten's. No Mitt. You and Ann DON'T deserve a turn!

Red Headed Slut -> an excellent cocktail

according to democrats women's politics and votes are ONLY related to those issues directly tied to their vagina, and vaginas don't speak.

SO unemployment, wars, Tax's, etc, etc are off limits for democratic women and can only be discussed by Republican women (we tend to ignore the Vagina issues according to you).

Stick to your "WOMENS ISSUES" aka Vagina Issues which are (according to Debbie Wasserman_schultz) .. abortion, and free birth control..

Mitt Romney, President Obama has worked very hard on behalf of the American people to get them back to work. Very hard.

What have you done? Lived the life of a rich aristocrat while people were suffering; while your party did nothing.

That's one thing I can say about Republicans that is pretty consistent. They have no loyalty to anyone in this country, so why would they show any loyalty to our president?

They sold themselves as the responsible party.

Well, I have news for you. President Obama and the democrats have been the responsible ones ever since the recession began.

The only thing the GOP did was point fingers. The same GOP who handed we the people their mess.

    Robert Creamer, Huffington Post:

Romney massively damaged whatever ability he might have had to broker Middle East peace were he elected president by theorizing that the economic difficulties of Palestinians stemmed from their inferior "culture."

On his visit to Poland, Romney received the endorsement of former Polish President and Solidarity leader Lech Walesa. The Polish Solidarity union itself -- with which Walesa is no longer associated -- responded by issuing a statement attacking Romney as an enemy of working people.

America simply can't afford to have a president who is a bull in a china closest careening around the world insulting people and making enemies. As Obama campaign spokesperson Jennifer Psaki put it, "he's been fumbling the foreign policy football from country to country."

And he has fumbled not just in failing to show diplomatic skill -- but also when he has tried to demonstrate policy expertise. In explaining his theory that Palestinian economic difficulties resulted from their "culture," Romney cited the difference between the per capital Gross Domestic Product of Israel and the Palestinian territories. "....for instance," he said, " in Israel, which is about $21,000, and compare that with the GDP per capital just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000."

But he didn't even get that right. Not even close. In fact, according to the World Bank, Israeli per capita GDP is $31,282 compared to only $1,600 for the Palestinian areas.

All I want to do is to get you on record stating that Obama can fix his mess with 4 more years? Do you care to go on record and state that? Or when the country goes to hell with obamacare (within 2 years) will you still blame republicans and bush? Just want to know if 4 years is enough or in 4 years from now when we are in a depression and 25 trillion in debt to china and gas is 8 per gallon you will then admit obama was wrong...Just want you on record, I am very patient, but if your going to continue to blame obama and republicans after 8 years of socialism,, whats the point... So Pat is 4 more years enough?... Sure hope so, good news is he will be the last democrat president for the next century if your wrong.....but honestly, who you going to blame???or will you stand by the illusion that he just needs more time? send your response when you can and I will email you in 4 years,,(more than likely 2 years) but I'll give you the 4 years for arguments sake....

Here is what we could expect to see with a Romney presidency

    1. War in Syria and Iran. It's good business for himself and his buddies.
    2. Tax cuts for the wealthy, no matter what he says in "debates."
    3. The middle class will pay more in taxes because of an absence of writeoffs for mortgages and children.
    4. Those in poverty will have to choose between food, rent, medicine, or paying taxes.
    5. Women will lose the right to control their own bodies and will again get second rate pay.
    6. Thanks to new wars on the credit card, the deficit will explode.
    7. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will become a thing of the past. the health care system would collapse after Obamacare is thrown out and no plan from Romney is even attempted.
    8. The Food Stamp program will die, and so will hungry Americans.
    9. American oil companies will continue to get subsidies while Americans starve.
    10. Mitt Romney would be a one termer.
    11. Next, Romney would move out of the White House in disgrace and move into the same gated community as Bush.

Conservatives want to privatize public education because they can't see why we should allow any institution to exist that doesn't turn a profit. They see a huge potential in ridding the country of public schools. This explains their constant attacks on public schools and teacher's unions. Of course, teacher's unions traditionally support Democratic candidates, and republicans can't allow that either. It all fits.

Unemployment hit 8% in February of 2009? Whose fault is that? We lost 650,000 jobs in December of 2008 and 775,000 in January of 2009. Whose fault is that? Here's a little question for all of those Romneyites out there. Let's say you have a CEO and your company starts losing money. You are losing about $800,000 a month when the board says goodbye to the old CEO. The new CEO comes in and makes some changes. You lose $700K in the new CEO's first month, but ten months later the company makes its first profit in almost two years. Then three months after that, the company consistently makes money every month - averaging $150,000 a month for thirty months. You give the new CEO a bonus, right?? Or do you fire the new CEO and hire another hack who has the exact same philosophy as the old loser CEO??

President Obama needs to put out an ad reminding voters that the unemployment numbers is down to 7.8 percent and that the country is moving in the right direction. It should be a positive ad with President Obama saying how the country is growing and the USA is still the country that everyone wants to live in. He needs to say that Mitt Romney believes that America has seen its better days and is now declining, but he President Obama believes that America is greater now than ever before.

Of course Obama will eventually blame Hillary, but not until after the election because even if Obama wins a 2d term, Hillary does not and will not be the Secretary of State, so Hillary will be thrown under the bus. You know that Obama will not do the right thing and take any responsibility for the attacks and deaths, he's to busy campaigning and raising money.

The cover up on the attacks of our consulate was one of the biggest fiasco's from this Administration. It is just another example of the incompetence of Obama's foreign policy.

Ugh really? Nothing ever changes here except the handles, and the democrat obfuscations to facts and truth. But to NoJo's point, hmmmm let's see the STATE DEPT classified this as a TERRORIST ATTACK the day after it happened. 9/12/12

And Obama's admin REFUSED to allow the State Dept press coordinator (Victoria something or other) go on the Sunday talk shows and tell the truth. Obama's team decided that sending out Susan Rice to LIE was a better option (and in all fairness to Ms Rice, she was parroting the line she was told to parrot, no more no less).

Obama tries to blame Hilary for this, and you will get a repeat of Bill Clinton's stump speech for his lovely wife Hil in SC on 07. The takeaway quote from that was "Yeah they tried to use the race card on me too".

Politics may make strange bedfellows but that doesn't mean Bill won't crush Obama. Like a cockroach.

Now. Go back. Suss through the thread, and see how you insinuated yourself into the conversation!

Because here is something you will not be able to understand, halo, being as unimaginative and lacking the insight of your own motivations:

NOT EVERY THING IS ABOUT YOU!

beliefs are fluid and must not impede my growth…. It is the feeling that
    matters and not the deed.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

My heroes are flawed and I see it not, for their faults were of good

I STILL want to know when you suddenly became Scottish? Also, since when did "ken" become a fashionable word to use in US?

Really, you LOST THE ARGUMENT and your mincing of words to disguise this is frickin transparent. A lot more transparent than the attack in Libya or the DEATH OF MY FRIEND.

Oh, halo, you are still trying so hard not to look foolish are you not?

The only way to fix this, dear is to make a clean breast of it.

"ken" is a word that educated people use.

I suppose that is why you have not heard of it!

"ken" is a word that educated people use.

Because they think it is so damned cool to use as they know it may be a code word that only liberal/progressives would even want to use. Most would use "understanding" or your comprehension but no, you have to create a buzzword that makes no sense to anyone but your secret "club". Your coolness is only exceeded by your incessant need to feel superior.

Yes, of course, poor halo, I can see where you are still trying to make excuses for yourself. I can quite understand that using words above your ken, would offend you, and make you proffer excuses for the rest of the night.

The trouble is, the trail you have left is simply too convincing. We all know what you are!

But, I still recommend simply admitting to it. You will look much more honest and aboveboard.

    As if that were possible!

Oh, one more thing, dear halo, the word "ken" is quite British.

Talk to the Hand- they need to be "cool". It's all they've got.

They cannot possibly address the deaths of four Americans who begged for extra security, and were denied by an administration so clueless that the belief that the whole world swoons before Obama's awesomeness permeates every security decision.

They cannot possibly address the reality that our Cairo Embassy was attacked by people Obama helped take power- who now want the Blind Sheikh released.

Nor can they even remotely address the issue of Obama's possible ignorance of these events- because he does not bother to attend intelligence briefings- he's too busy campaigning.

And fundraising- he jetted off to Vegas the day the Libyan attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans.

They will not mention Obama blowing off world leaders in favor of appearing on The View.

Or blowing off Netanyahu because he had to show up on Letterman.

Or GDP limping along at 1.3%.

Or his epic fail at a debate for which he could not be bothered to prepare.

So, what have they got? Well, like high school losers who see themselves as the "cool kids"- they have a treehouse. Where they talk to each other about how cool they are.

They are pathetic. In a couple of weeks, they're going to wish the virtual drinks were real.

Poor no jo... are you still feeling left out, dear? Still angry that people make friends here and you cannot? Still envious of the "cool kids"?

I have never understood what it is with the fringe right wing and their inability to make friends and their vindictive jealousy of those who do.

I suppose it does not occur to you that you could OPEN YOUR OWN CHAT AND INVITE PEOPLE TO JOIN IT?

Nah, that would be too real. You might actually have to be kind and play well with others.

And trust me, nojo has plenty of friends rather than sheep that blindly follow until the going gets tough. You libs, and especially here on FR, gather, attack, and feel good about your inability to have to listen to differing opinions and try to have an intelligent exchange of ideas. Gang mentality. NewDay

I have only a two word phrase for you. And I am already sure you ken (!omg) what it is.

You mocked the death of a friend of mine, all while trying to play "cool kid". The only one looking like a fool here is you. For mocking the death of an ambassador, a friend and two Navy SEALS.

Instead, in the typical liberal fashion - lie, spin, deflect, obfuscate, and YOU choose to play word games?!?!

Of course, you can pretend to be a Scot/Brit and type like one. It doesn't make you anything other than a typical buzzword liberal. Who MOCKS death as long as they think they can get something out of it. Who mocks anyone who disagrees with them. Who mocks the average American who is struggling in this economy, with this stupid argument over a dumbass word, ken?

According to dictionary it is a SCOTTISH word, so much for it being a word for the "educated", if you are so educated how did you not know it was Scottish of descent?

Go back to the lunch table with the cool kids. The rest of us have graduated high school a long time ago. Because turning this into a word game, is exactly what I expect of a KNOW NOTHING, UNEDUCATED, TAKE MY TALKING POINTS AND REGURGITATE THEM liberal like you.

American voters will prove you and your cult wrong.

Oh my God, this just keeps getting funnier and funnier,

So now "ken" is a code word for liberals? Talkie old boy, I think you have hit on the answer to it.

Sorry though, not going to dumb down language to make you comfortable.

You are simply going to have to try to keep up!

Poor halo, and here you tried to pretend that you didn't have to look the word up. Actually, the word has descent from Old English, which I have studied.

But, I am enjoying your frantic efforts to prove that you are correct. It amuses me greatly, and your loss of composure is measure of how lost you feel.

I still think you have to go back to the solution I gave you. One can make a clean breast of things and people will think better, nay, they will think "my goodness, what an honest person, I should be more like her."

Do give it a try, won't you?

Put Romney in the White House and we'll have alot more than four deaths to mourn. The man is on such a mission to start a new war, he's beside himself. Every country in the Middle East he mentions, it's like, "They are not doing what we want. They are not kowtowing appropriately. They need to bow down or be bombed. Obama is weak because he won't bomb them. Why won't somebody bomb these mfs? It's because Obama is not really an American. A real American would bomb them."

Enough. I have to work tomorrow at a real job and can't take the liberal/progressive spin anymore. ndD you are truly a sheep and have dug into your bag of comments and put downs and oppressive statements enough. Do me a favor. Do like all of your minions do and put me on ignore. You can't and won't be changed. After all you can be described in a couple of short pages:

    The Liberal Credo:

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

My purpose is to feel good and righteous thoughts,

My goal is make others believe I care; though I often do not participate,
but often judge others for their not doing so.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

My heroes are flawed and I see it not, for their faults were of good
intentions, but, the results of my idols, though unimpressive, will remain in
my soul as worthy attempts at something wished for…. and the hope, not the
    deed, is all that matters.

    I Am a Liberal Progressive…

I think therefore I am superior. My values will change daily, for core
beliefs are fluid and must not impede my growth…. It is the feeling that
    matters and not the deed.

    I am a liberal Progressive….

Those who oppose me are ignorant…I am superior and enlightened, and my
absence of faith only strengthens my feelings, and feelings are everything.

    I am a liberal Progressive…

The less fortunate are my tools…. they are absent of my worth…. and are
    everyone's responsibility but mine…. for, I think, therefore I care. I will
strive to cast guilt on all who disagree, while preaching openness as a vessel
    of communication.

    I am a Liberal Progressive…

I hate God, and those who worship him. My lord is myself, and I know best
how to solve the ills of that which I condemn, only myself will not be lowered
to that end…yet, I say I care and that is enough.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

I will defend all that is comfortable and fight all that is difficult. The
enemy of my lifestyle is the one who does not agree with my caring thoughts.
Without my opinion, there can be no openness.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

I will follow the rules of anything that best describes my emotions. My
heart is filled with my perceived sorrow of those who are victims, and though I
bleed for them, the fact that I care, is enough to put me above them. I care,
and that is all I need to do, to be righteous. I expect others will help
them…..my feelings are enough to satisfy my heart. And I can do no more, nor do
    I need too.

    I am a Liberal Progressive…

Whatever I feel is what is real. The baseless instincts of responsibility
are a burden on my brother, for he is due, without merit, and my feelings and
his need will be rewarded with unearned but due riches.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

I am allowed to criticize and defame all who disagree with my life. The sun
is my God and the Moon my mother, beyond that…all else is irrelevant, until I
    decide it matters.

    I am a Liberal Progressive…

You cannot harm me, but can praise me…in praise, I will accept you as a
subordinate, but never equal…for you can never understand my
    "feelings".

My world is all that matters and those who deny it are racists and bigots. I
    am perfect.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

If I run naked through a Christian church, it is their hate that will not
accept it, but, when a Godly person attempts to display a moral cross of
judgment on my parade…I will strike him down as a bigot. Only I can make right,
    the truth.

    I am a Liberal Progressive….

I love life….up to and when, it interferes with my own….I will not allow a
cell mass to dictate my choice of movies and music….for my future is what
matters…and my happiness is above a genetic mistake.

And you are more than welcome to share this with your liberal friends here on FR. I am sure it will serve to reinforce your perceived importance (or should I say impotence) in the real world.

    • Obama has overhauled the food safety system
    • Advanced women's rights in the work place
    • Ended Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) in our military
    • Stopped defending DOMA in court.
    • Passed the Hate Crimes bill.
    • Appointed two pro-choice women to the Supreme Court.
    • Expanded access to medical care and provided subsidies for people who can't afford it.
    • Expanded the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
    • Fixed the preexisting conditions travesty [and rescissions] in health insurance.
    • Invested in clean energy.
    • Overhauled the credit card industry, making it much more consumer-friendly.
    • While Dodd-Frank bill was weak in many respects, it was still an extremely worthwhile start at re-regulating the financial sector.
    • He created a Elizabeth Warren's dream agency: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
    • He's done a lot for veterans
    • He got help for people whose health was injured during the clean-up after the 9/11 attacks

And I just googled the short list ....

I don't like the idea that Romney puts his religion ahead of his allegiance to the USA. Before anyone votes for Romney please do some research on secrets of the Mormon church. If you don't think someones religious beliefs are relevant look at how the obvious lie that Obama was a Muslim cost him support. You want to vote for a Scientologist? (Now there's a name rich in irony). Mormons believe the same kind of nonsense. Its a cult people, with ideas that are way wackier than the Islam-Judeo-Christian tradition.

My post was about Romney and Mormonism. Gee, I thought I was an independent after voting for Bush twice. Some of you are so far to the right that the center appears left to you. You do bring up a valid point and certainly I'm not going to defend lying, murdering, Muslims. It illustrates, however, the evil that can come from religion. And it was not until the last 50 years or so that Islamists have had their terrorist reputation. Evidently opportunity is important, and things can change. So where is your problem with finding out what secret promises Romney has made to the Mormon church? Are you a Mormon? Don't you want to know what this guy believes, and not the lies he's put out for public consumption? I sure as hell do- this guy could have his finger on the nuclear button. Now, that's frightening. Obama is a proven commodity and will I take him over Romney.

Wow? your honestly comparing mormon beliefs to sheria law? I retired 30 years from the Marine Corp and 7 years deployed in the middle east. Do you really understand how women are treated there? Can you honestly believe what you just wrote? Here is a TRUE story, 3 marines stopped a man from beating his wife in public, 2 days later the same woman was hanging from her feat naked obviously rapped and severly beaten and a small log plunged in her vagina. AND this is not against the law.....or even punished and this is also not unusual. You can imagine marines in country blaming themselve's for this womans obvious demise. How dare you compare or even place Mr Romney and his religious beliefs with these people.. just plain shame on you..and by the way, the Romney's and just his congregation have donated over 30 million to charity in the last 5 years. And the majority was to women and childrens charities. Mr Romney also 'GAVE" away to charity his fathers entire fortune to charity, he started his business career from scratch. If you don't really know the man please keep your offensive bs to yourself. If you don't like him as a capatilist fair enough its america and your welcome to your voice, but you say what you did is just plain wrong... and shame on you..there are many women in the middle east that would enjoy your freedoms..maybe just the one freedom of freedom and not being property of their fathers and then their husbands....shame on you...

So to jarhead and conservative rebellion and anyone else: I presume the comments were addressed to the Mormon massacre comment. In any case... how do we find out about the secrets of the Mormon church. You say there aren't any? How do you know? Are you high up in the Mormon church? Is it somehow an aberration to want to know about a presidential candidates religion, especially if he's the first candidate from that religion. Obama's religion was quite a big deal as you may recall. You evidently don't like Muslims so I gather that you wouldn't want to vote for one. Why don't you folks ever answer questions instead of hurling insults. AS far as your story, jarhead- assuming you were thanks for your service. We, as Americans, have both Freedom of Religion and Freedom from Religion. This was the intent of our Forefathers and is the Separation of Church and State as uspported via the Constitution and the Laws of our land.

Didn't say Obama did it Matthew. There was a push to get it instituted into the laws of Oklahoma and therefore Oklahoma had to fight back. But was it an easy task? Look deeper, they should not have had to push back and place a ban on it at all. It should have never been brought up. They tried and luckily failed to get it incorporated.

Frankly, it was hogwash. And yet some folks STILL say that this law was passed in a (sic) "reaction to that Muslim Obama" or because liberals want it. That is more hogwash.

I can only assume that after a spate of honor killing in the West and Mid West (AZ, MI, NM, TX) and because defense lawyers did try to use Sharia law as the reasoning for the killings, I assume the OK legislature was trying to nip the defense lawyers arguments it in the bud? All it would have taken was one judge to rule in the defenses favor. The OK ban is cheaper than going to the Supreme Court.

I agree, dezhawaii, it shouldn't be an issue that Romney doesn't believe Jesus was the son of God. Heathens and heretics have as much right to be elected President as traditional Christians. I think a Romney presidency would inspire many evangelicals to explore switching to Mormonism.

Amy ... and as for me, as a Christian, that truly makes me shudder. This country does NOT know what is behind that faith. President Grant had it correct when he denied the cult statehood. Mormonism is nothing but the worship of a MAN.

(Before you all go ragging on me, understand that I am an ex-Mormon and probably know more about that "religion" than you will in your lifetime!)

Notice how the hosts have been featuring (and laughing at) SNL's portrayal of themselves?

The Fox people did no such thing when similarly skewered.

Damn you can sure tell the lib's panties are in a wad. Fisty posting 6 times in about 46? Wow. BTW good guys, don't let this poll go unscrutinized either. Remember, the MSM is in Obama's pocket and obviously is nervous about the chances of a re-elect. They are aiding the report of this poll at 49-45 to fire up the lazy Obama voters who thought they had it in the bag. Keep fighting.

And yes, I question this poll just as much as the ones showing Obama ahead as well as the UE numbers of last week(s). Don't be fooled. We must keep up the push for

Romney/Ryan 2012 to really get on the right track.

Do you question the "7-Election" poll numbers which have the President ahead by 60/40?

Do you mean to insult the intelligence of the Heartland of America?

Really, 7-11 stores selling coffee. Go back to Big Bird. It almost makes as much sense.

As for me and my conservative friends, we make our own coffee and put it in "The World's Best Dad" travel cup our kids bought for us.

And I bet if you did the same thing in Starbucks, you would get the same skewed result. How about McDonalds. Ya think we should make all coffee shops do it so we know who to vote for? Not me. I fend for and think for myself.

Last month, Pew had a sample of democrats +9. This poll? Democrats and republicans were evenly represented.

So, folks- we got a tied ball game.

Had one last month, too. So, why on earth should polling organizations play with the numbers?

      Drives the story.

Speaking of 7/11 and coffee cups:

In their poll the President is ahead at 60%.

Been right in the three elections they have done it.

But I love watching no jo blather on about poll numbers that she can't possibly understand. Requires an understanding of numbers and all that....

Romney is telling everyone especially those recent college grads out of work he will bring jobs to all of you, just at minimum wage, no benefits and 60 hour weeks. Then he will sell all the foreclosed homes and buildings to his Chinese buddies through Bain and become CEO Romney of Chinamerica, Inc., laughing "enjoy your apartments to rent from my foreign buddies" as he puts a few billion in his Caymans and Swiss accounts.

Kind of like Venezuela will now be renamed "Chavezuela". Obama loves the guy and the love is reciprocated.

And the USA will be renamed "Obamamerica". But that would desicrate USA into USO. Oh well, he doesn't like that oppressive military anyway. Unless they can get him headlines and more sheep.

Unemployment under Obama is still worse than the very worst month in Bush's presidency. There is no reason to believe that Obama is capable of making that any better. To us personally, that means that, if Obama is reelected and we are looking for a job or worried about losing our job, our prospects will be very dim.

Romney has grown companies that were on the brink of failure to create hundreds of thousands of new US jobs. As head of the Executive Branch he will be able to guide the economy toward that same kind of recovery.

We are in a world economy. If other countries suffer, we are not immune. Our UE rate is lower than that of France and the UK and only slightly above Canada (that drill baby drill country). Germany's is 6.8, but they didn't do the stupid banking crap that we did. Poland - Romney's model of capitalism is at 12.4.

Don't forget about the $1,000,000 campaign donation from TransCanada!

Yes, folks, it's shocking (well, maybe only to those of us who feel that American elections should be an occasion for American voters to decide what's best for America, rather than an auction for influence in a corporatocracy) but true- the Romney campaign is receiving infusions of 11th- hour cash from a foreign entity whose largest project at the moment involves laying a pipeline straight across the middle of the United States (a region often, and aptly, known as "the Heartland") in order to transport a murderously toxic slurry of oil sands and solvents to a refinery in Texas, there to be turned into finished petroleum products for our good friends in China.

For those of you who still haven't connected the dots- this pipeline will endanger the Oglalla Aquifer, which is vital to something like half of the United States' grain- growing potential; even a modest break/spill could poison the Aquifer and render it useless for human needs for centuries to come. The payoff for this risk is a few hundred permanent refinery jobs in Texas (although God knows, they need every decent- paying job they can get) and more diesel fuel, petroleum and solvents for consumer markets in China! The Keystone pipeline will do nothing to ease the price of gasoline here in the U.S.A., and will likely bump the cost up some.

I have nothing at all against Canadians- have, in fact, married one!- but I'm both deeply disturbed at the prospect of foreign money helping to decide American elections, and utterly appalled at the total lack of concern that's being shown by the Right over this.

I guess when you support a worldview in which Barack Obama is responsible for the near- total meltdown of the American economy, and Mitt Romney is a job- creating patriot who's going to rescue us all (and the disastrous, eight- year nightmare of the Cheney regime never happened), it's easy to convince yourself that exporting Canadian oil sand products to China (who, of course, love America and wish us nothing but good) is somehow going to be beneficial for Americans.

This is merely another piece of evidence, as if any were needed, that the Republican Party has enlisted as an enthusiastic volunteer in the War on American Workers; that their only true loyalty is to the international ultra- wealthy class, and that they're perfectly happy to see the United States reduced to beggary, with only subsistence jobs available to extract and export raw materials for the use of our future overlords in Beijing; as long as they get their cut in the next decade or so, they couldn't care less about the kind of destitute, colonial America that's left for future generations.

        Well done, traitors!

What "Booby Bobby" in Virginia does not seem to comprehend is that polls do not vote. Free People living in an American Democracy do vote. Voting is a God given right of all people, and no one knows for sure who is going to win this election. Now Progressive Power has been reading the many "Crazy Conservative Crap" being spewed by "Booby Bobby" in Virginia. It is just shocking that this "Gross Odd Person" (GOP). Who is "Really Not Competent" (RNC). Still thinks that President Reagan is still the President, and that "Tinkle Down Economics" actually worked. It is amazing that "Booby Bobby" of Virginia still thinks that the Cold War is still going on, and that building expensive weapons systems is economically practical. "Booby Bobby" in Virginia still believes that the Confederacy won the Civil War, and that President Jefferson Davis is running for President. Reading the posts of "Booby Bobby" in Virginia. Is like reading a Confederate States Of America Poltical Representative in or around 1859. In the mind of "Bobby the Boob?" Tax increases on the Middle Class, the Working Poor, the elderly, and the disabled is a good thing. It is great the the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" only will fairly represent those that are rich enough. WOW! This is a very disturbed individual!

Some one should remind this idiot (Romney) that unemployment during the great depression was at double digits for 9 years (I realize that was more than 60 years ago. Nice of Romney to stop short of that date. I wonder if he even realizes that we are crawling out of the worst financial crisis since then)!

He said during the debate that he LOVEs teachers. Does anyone remember him saying he wants to cut out the dept. of education?

He said during the debate that he knows that we need regulation. Does anyone remember him saying he would cut out the EPA?

He tells his buddies at a private fund raiser that 47% of Americans are bums and wont get off of welfare, then tries to back peddle and say he was wrong. It has been my experience that what one says when they think they are safe from the consequences of their statement is when the say what they REALLY mean!

You have to give credit to Romney for having the audacity to criticize Obama on unemployment. Yes, unemployment reached 10% under Obama since he received from Bush the gift of losing jobs at the rate of 750,000 per month. Before Obama could turn things around with the stimulus plan, unemployment reached 10%. Today it is 7.8%. A drop of around 2.2%. While admittedly slow, it was a Great Recession and we almost has a Great Depression. Yet, we are moving in the right direction.

Romney forgets that, in his four years as governor of Massachusetts, unemployment dropped less than one percent. Plus, Massachusetts ranked 47th in job growth among all 50 states when he was governor. it's no wonder the polls show the folks in Massachusetts don't want him as President.
